I honestly believe in hospitals there's like this balance, you know? It's like when one person dies, another person gets a chance to live. I like to call it the Circle of Life.

2x13 // 4x04
I wanted to believe ... so badly, ah ... It's so damn hard to do this, what we do. You're all alone, you know? And ... there's so much evil out there in the world, Dean, I feel like I could drown in it. And when I think about my destiny, when I think about how I could end up...I needed to think that there was something else, watching too, you know? Some higher power. Some greater good. I've got demon blood in me, Dean! This disease pumping through my veins, and I can't ever rip it out or scrub it clean! I'm a whole new level of freak! And I'm just trying to take this - this curse... and make something good out of it. Because I have to.

a skeleton of something more [malex wip]
Inspired by the promo/trailer for season 3. Spoilers and speculation ahead.
A tumblr work-in-progress
Pairing: Michael/Alex, Alex/Forrest
Summary: Alex goes undercover to seek out Deep Sky. Starts mid-2x13.
Alex leaned his back against the solid wood of his front door, letting the heavy oak take up his weight. He kept making the standard uneven bargain with his body, of giving just a little more, going through the motions for a little longer, and then it would be over. But the tally sheet his body held was long, overflowing with so many unfulfilled promises that it seemed ever more likely he would end this journey in the red.
If it ever ended.
At least, tonight, he had haggled wisely for some space to breathe. On the other side of the door, he had managed to escape Forrest’s hopeful and not subtle attempts to follow him inside, toward the bedroom for a long-awaited reunion. A reunion that Alex had deftly avoided without a trace of guilt. He had used the bland excuse of fatigue from a long, cramped ride from Holloman Air Force Base to Roswell on a bus that had predated the ADA by a good thirty years. It was transparent but still true, written on every line of pain in his smile as he had said “Not tonight.” that even Forrest could read it, even if only Alex knew the real source of his fatigue.
He waited several long moments, before turning to look out the peephole to watch Forrest’s Prius silently reverse out of his driveway. Exhaling out long and low, the tension he had started carrying a little more than a year ago slipped away, letting the calm certainty of safety of his house slip down his body as he released the facade.
Alex was almost done with this assignment, he reminded himself, as he rubbed the back of his hand against his mouth, scrubbing away the taste of Forrest Long from earlier.
Just a little while longer, and he will have enough good will built up to finally meet the leader of Deep Sky face-to-face, after all who could resist the request of a senior member, especially one with the last name of Long? It had been a lucky find that Alex had made in cleaning out his father’s house after his death, a ring and an old photo of the members. In washed out Kodak colors was the cabal of Deep Sky. Former military men with names Alex had memorized off the salvaged hard drives from the Caulfield prison. Linked not by overlapping time on the alien project, but what had become of their careers after their military service had ended. All of them vowing to carry on the protection of Earth against an alien threat, but without the oversight of the government.
The photo in his dad’s desk had been expected, but the silver ring? He had remembered clutching it, his hands still sore from tearing down the shed with Michael, and feeling the imprint of the symbol press deep into his skin. Searing across what Mimi had called his long-love line, singular and deep on his palm. Searing even deeper inside with the recognition that the symbol matched the ring Forrest Long wore.
The genial historian with the loose-fitting cardigan and blue-streaked hair, who had shown flattering interest in Alex, had worn the same ring. Easy on his hand, flashing in the bright sunlight when he had eagerly met up with Alex at the paintball fields with sharpshooter skills. After that date had crashed and burned thanks to a mishmash of his father’s voice and the feeling he had whenever he thought about kissing someone, not Michael, well, Alex had figured that would be the last he would see of the man.
It hadn’t been.
Suddenly, Forrest was everywhere he was, the Crashdown, the Wild Pony. It should have been suspicious to Alex, after months of sharing the same town with the other man without a single encounter. His heart was still bounding uselessly after Michael, while his hands had been full of his suddenly feeble father, and he had missed the snare of the trap. Not just the one his father had laid. Then after his kidnapping, two things had become clear to Alex, his father would never change from the hateful man he was, and Alex’s heart would never change when it came to his feelings for Michael.
Alex pushed his leaden body away from the door, tottering on his feet for a moment before the new prosthesis shored up his balance and he took a deep breath for the strength to move forward.
Fuck. That was a mistake.
His house smelled like rain. Michael. The unexpected consequence of having Michael watch over his house while he had moved around the country, playing up the role of the grieving scion of the Manes family legacy. After a year of brief trips back to Roswell and long stints on the road, the house now smelled like Michael.
Alex sucked in greedy gulps of air, chasing the taste of green and petrichor with his tongue to wash away his previous actions at the bus stop. His security system, his reinforced door and window locks, the weight of his gun still tucked in his back holster, none of it made him feel as safe as the smell of Michael in his home. It was the smallest crumb of promise, but it filled him.
Moving toward the kitchen for a drink, he clocked the changes Michael had made in his absence. His heavier luggage, shipped ahead of him, was already stored, including the set of crutches and the charging station for his back-up prosthesis. The lights in the kitchen came on with a single touch, all of them bright. Dammit, Michael had fixed the two burnt out bulbs, along with the slightly weeping fitting on the sink faucet.
There was zero sign of neglect in his house, no matter where he looked. Not even the faintest trace of dust on his guitars. The house looked warm and well tended. Loved.
The rush of tears welled in his throat, an impossibly large lump, as Alex fought to keep from breaking down. Don’t fucking cry, don’t do it, that’s for at night, he swore creatively at himself. Tears were only allowed under the cover of dark, in hotel rooms or visiting officer quarters, not in the middle of his brightly lit kitchen.
A knock sounded on the front door.
Abruptly, every drop of tortured longing was gone, as Alex straightened his shoulders and crossed the threshold back to the door. He pasted the right amount of faked aspiration mixed with real annoyance on his face as he yanked the door open, expecting to see Forrest back on his step with a weak excuse concocted to overcome the earlier rebuff.
Michael looked up in the porch light, his black hat in hand and his curls wild with nervous raking. “Uh, hi.” He scuffed his boots against the concrete before growing still under Alex’s gaze.
He looked over Michael’s shoulder nervously, for the distinctive truck that everyone in town knew belonged to Michael, but his driveway was empty.
“I parked a few streets over. I don’t think anyone saw me-” Michael’s explanation was cut off short as Alex grabbed his wrist and yanked him inside. Stumbling from Alex’s strong grip, Michael fell forward, and then back as the front door slammed shut with them both safely inside out of view. His mouth was still open in surprise as Alex covered his lips in a kiss.
The surprise was short-lived. Michael came alive under the kiss, opening and yielding to Alex’s hungry lips and tongue. Alex brought his hands up into Michael’s curls, cupping his head protectively as he pressed Michael firmly against the door, drinking in every sound Michael was making.
Hours before, he had kissed Forrest at the bus station, playing up the role of a dutiful boyfriend returning home. It was the tariff he paid with his body to get closer to the roots of Deep Sky, but this, feeling Michael whole and safe under his hands, tasting him now, that was sustenance. Lifeblood. There was an evolution of difference between the two, like comparing simple bacteria wiggling toward complexity and the finished product of a man, standing upright.
It was both a reminder of why he was doing this and a reinstatement of focus, as he slowly broke the kiss with reluctance. Michael chased at his lips, his mouth red and wet, his eyes dark with want. He could feel the heat coming off of Michael’s thin brown shirt, his hands itched to pull it off, to descend back into the physical, but Alex knew that he owed Michael an explanation for earlier.
“I’m sorry about earlier. I didn’t know he was going to be there to meet my bus. I thought it would be okay for you to give me a ride,” Alex explained quietly, as he ran his hands from Michael’s neck down to his fingertips, drinking in all the changes that had happened while he was gone. Michael looked thinner to him, as if he wasn’t eating enough despite the healthy amount of work and money. “I guess he wanted to surprise me and thought it would be romantic.”
Michael made a face at the idea of surprises ever being considered romantic, especially to Alex. He turned sweetly toward Alex’s palm, kissing the center as Alex pushed a stubborn curl out of his eyes. “Are you sure that’s all it was? He wasn’t testing you, was he?”
“I don’t think so.” Alex couldn’t pull his hands away from Michael, and leaned in to kiss him again. It started soft and shallow, trading breaths with Michael, lips against lips, licking deep into his mouth as his previous weariness disappeared now that Michael was here. “He saw you watching us. Now that I’m back, he’s worried about losing my attention to you. He hasn’t hidden his jealousy that I asked you to watch my house last year.”
“Did I look sufficiently broken-hearted?” The question was light, but Alex could hear the grain of truth under it.
“You did.” Alex closed his eyes, the guilt of the situation flooded back inside. The statue of his father looking down on him didn’t make him feel nearly as sick as having Michael’s eyes on him as he let Forrest kiss him in front of the town in a cinematic homecoming moment. It was a cruel reminder to Alex that he had never been able to give Michael that, a public welcome that spelled out who they were to each other, not once in ten plus years of deployments and duty station assignments. Trading a glance across the Wild Pony was as close as they came. “I wish it wasn’t like this, sneaking around, pretending-”
“Hey, I agreed to this, right at the very beginning when I was your only back-up. Remember?”
“We were just friends back then, you couldn’t have known that things would end up like this.”
Michael laughed, his head tilted back against the door, casting an attractive line of his throat to his collarbone. “We’ve never been just friends, Alex, but I knew what I was signing up for when you told me what you planned to do to smoke out Deep Sky. We’re in this together.”

Honestly, WHAT THE FUCK FLOYD!!!!
i know, i know 😭 but tbh, i found it pretty in character for floyd. he's always been the most by the books character of the main cast and it's definitely brought on conflict before. in 2x13 when he and lauren got into it over lauren reviving a patient who coded even though she signed a DNR but had also made it known she wanted to live to see her grandchild being born, lauren calls him out saying 'everyone here bends the rules, except you' and it's what prompts floyd to take the job offer in SF. which, she's not wrong. remember when helen took a patient to get heroin in order to convince her to come back to NA for treatment?
and if we're being 100% he was right to be frustrated and upset at the underground surgery idea. flores was rightfully horrified hearing about it too and vocalizing it. they were one underlying condition away from a disaster without the proper medicine or equipment to intervene. the morgue, no matter how many supplies you steal, is nothing compared to a proper OR. compound that with fuentes cutting less invasive procedures because they don't generate enough money and preventative care to get ahead of diseases to the point of requiring surgery. floyd was the only one in his department literally episode 1, season 1 who refused to cut open patients who didn't need it and now he's turned into a factory line surgeon of invasive procedures. dude was desperate to help his patients and reached the end of his rope and acted without thinking.
also i'm lowkey obsessed with the last scene of floyd scrubbing in while reciting the invictus poem, woven between a montage of the other characters' reactions to the fallout. it was a great scene of floyd grappling with the morality of what he's done and how even though his friends got caught in the crossfire, the return was the ability to help hundreds of patients.

2x13: Houses of the Holy
Providence, Rhode Island
A woman sits in the dark, smoking cigarettes, and watching TV.
Tumblr media
The lights start to flicker and the television flickers back to an evangelical preaching. Her house starts shaking and her angel statues start falling. There’s suddenly a bright light and the woman watches it in awe.
Sam Winchester, decked out in white scrubs, greets his patient, Gloria. Sam wants to talk to her about what she saw that night. Gloria tells him that she stabbed a man in the heart “because it was God’s will.” Sam wants to know if God talked to her (too busy fucking with your life, Sam) but she says no and that an angel came to her. The angel told her that the man she stabbed was guilty. She needed no other proof to do it.
Sam later finds Dean enjoying some music and magic fingers.
Tumblr media
Dean’s on lockdown because he robbed a bank in Milwaukee. They discuss the case. It really seems that Gloria is just a religious nutjob. And Sam would agree if she wasn’t the second person in town to have murdered someone because an angel told them to. “Supernatural maybe. But angels? I don't think so,” Dean insists. BLESS.
They then have a very fun conversation about how unicorns don’t exist (And Truly, BLESS Andrew Dabb. This dude took this one off joke and made it reality.) In any event, Dean firmly doesn’t believe in angels. (In a far off voice I hear: This is your problem, Dean. You have no faith.)
Once they stop arguing about angels, they decide to check out the victim, Carl’s place. They head to the basement to see what secrets he had hidden.
Tumblr media
Sam finds scratch marks on the wall. On a closer inspection, he also finds a fingernail. They start digging up the dirt floor and find a skeleton.
In a lonely apartment, a man lays on his bed, drinking himself to oblivion. His lights start flickering and the room starts shaking. Suddenly there’s a bright light.
Tumblr media
Cut to the man, Zach, walking to another house and stabbing a dude right in the gut.
Dean’s listening to the police scanner when Sam walks back to the motel room with food. He also has news that three people disappeared from the library where Carl worked. Dean has other news --the not-angel struck again.
They head out to the victim’s house and sneak inside. Sam hacks into the dude’s computer and Dean browses his catalog collection. Sam finds locked emails that turn out to be to an underage girl.
Dean is baffled by this spirit or demon they’re dealing with. Sam points out it’s like an avenging angel. Oh, Sam, if you only knew angels are dicks. Dean connects the two victims --they both go to the same church.
They meet with the priest posing as new parishioners. They discuss this whole angel crap but the priest is a believer (obv.) and talks openly with Sam about what angels are thought to be like. They look at a painting of Michael, the archangel, while the priest describes his belief that they’re “more loving, than wrathful.”
Tumblr media
As they’re leaving, Dean notices a memorial on the steps of the church. It’s for Father Gregory, who was shot there two months prior in a carjacking. Dean thinks they’re dealing with a vengeful spirit, but Sam still humors the angel aspect of it all. Dean knows that Sam prays everyday (and I sit weeping in the corner, thinking of Purgatory.)
An angel statue begins to quake. Sam looks at it with curiosity, only to be overtaken by awe as bright light suffuses the room. He passes out.
“I saw an angel,” Sam gasps to his brother later. He reports that the angel spoke to him and told him to kill a man. The kicker is, the doomed guy on Sam’s hit list hasn’t actually committed any crime...yet. Dean’s unimpressed by Sam “Minority Report” Winchester’s insistence that he’s been chosen by the angels and God for this mission. I give Dean a high five, then methodically throw rocks through every single one of my windows as I think about the next thirteen seasons.
Tumblr media
Their mom used to tell them every night that angels were watching over them. “She was wrong,” Dean says bitterly, “There’s no higher power. There’s no God. There’s just chaos. Violence. Random unpredictable evil that comes outta nowhere. Rips you to shreds. You want me to believe in this stuff? I’m gonna need to see some hard proof.” (I gallantly resist making a dirty joke about Castiel’s “hard proof.”)
Ahem. Anyway, Dean’s solid on the ghost theory. At the priest’s crypt they find wormwood growing - it’s a sign of a restless spirit. LOLLLL early seasons. Sam agrees to hold a seance.
Tumblr media
They head out of a corner grocery a little while later, stocked with SpongeBob mats and candles for the seance, when Sam sees THE SIGN. Light glows around his mark - the guy he’s supposed to kill. While Ace of Base plays in my head, Sam makes a move  to kill - er, stop - the ghost-tagged perp. Looking to forestall Sam’s murder-to-be, Dean tells Sam to run the seance and tails Sam’s suspect on his own. Dean watches the guy pick up a date, and then they’re off again.
Meanwhile, Sam’s obediently running the seance.
Tumblr media
The priest appears in the crypt, horrified to see what looks like THE VERY DEVIL WORSHIP taking place. “I can explain,” Sam says before utterly failing to explain anything. And then light fills the room. The priest wonders if it’s an angel, but Sam sorrowfully notes that it’s only Father Gregory’s ghost.
The glowing angelic vision suddenly distills into a normal human figure. Father Gregory wonders why Sam isn’t killing his marked man. After all, he’s an angel and he commanded it! Sam glumly explains that NO, Father Gregory is just a normal ectoplasm-slinging ghost.
Dean loses the trail of the marked man, while Father Gregory explains that his kill orders are redemption for the killers and every one of his marks is guilty. “This is vengeance. This is wrong,” the older priest declares and I look VERY HARD at the rest of the show.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, the guy Dean was tailing parks his car in an abandoned alley and attempts to attack his date. JAB HIM IN THE EYEBALLS, LADY! Dean bashes his head in just in time and saves the date. The guy drives off and Dean follows quickly on his tail.
The old priest offers last rites to Father Gregory, who begins to flicker.
Tumblr media
Sam watches in full puppy eyed mode as Father Gregory disappears, presumably to high five ghosts in Heaven.
Dean chases the Bad Guy through the streets until a truck pulls out in front of Bad Guy’s car. A metal pole bounces off the truck, pierces the windshield, and impales the guy right in the chest.
Later, Sam morosely packs his bag back at the motel.
For What the Fuck is this Motel Room Design Science:
Tumblr media
Sam’s sad that there wasn’t an angel watching out for people on Earth. Dean pulls out his flask, takes a big swig, and promises to watch out for Sam. “You’re just one person,” Sam tells him. He’d hoped there was a higher power guiding their lives. One who’d grant Sam salvation.
“Knocking on Heaven’s Door” starts to play, while Dean confesses his current emotional state. He proposes that the insane way the Bad Guy died MIGHT have been God’s will. I kick Chuck right in the nuts.
Tumblr media
Quakin’ Quotes:
Aw, dammit! That was my last quarter. Hey! You got any quarters?
There's a ton of lore on unicorns too. In fact, I hear that they ride on silver moonbeams and they shoot rainbows out of their ass
You’ve got faith. I’m sure it makes things easier
One of the perks of the job. We don’t need to operate on faith
Men cannot be angels
There’s so much evil in the world, Dean. I feel like I could drown in it.

dustin milligan in ‘schitt’s creek’ - season 2
HERE you will find 155 gifs of Dustin Milligan in season two of the CBC/Netflix comedy ‘Schitt’s Creek’ ( episodes 2x01, 2x02, 2x08, 2x09, 2x10, 2x13 ). These were all made from scratch by me, but honestly do what you want with them. Please don’t just repost and claim them as your own as they took a lot of hard work. A like/reblog is you use or find them useful would be nice but again, totally not necessary.

Have now lazily scooted through CSI Season 2, where there was not one single episode I had no memory of (the dog was named Maverick!)
Anyway here is some data:
- They got some more Vegas establishing shots between seasons, I see you new B-roll! They also zhuzhed up the title sequence with some new character shots at 2x13
- The biggest crime of this season was in the first episode, and it was putting George Eads in Transitions lenses
- Archie Kao was hired to play campus security guard “M. Blaze” (according to the name stitched on his uniform) for 2x02, and apparently they liked him so much that six episodes later they brought him on in the recurring role of Archie Johnson the AV tech
- However, and all the love to Archie, but my new favorite recurring character this time around is the delightfully shady local funeral home director. I don’t know his name. He’s introduced in season 1 doing something overtly illegal, and then continues to show up a couple times a season always in ways that still *feel* criminal but you can’t actually charge him for it. Like knowing exactly how much each organ goes for on the black market, or chaotically jamming out to Vivaldi as he embalms someone.
Nickname Tally • Brass: calls the crime unit collectively “the Nerd Squad,” also is the only one to use Rick for Warrick • Catherine, Gil, and Jim: all call each other by their first names • Greg: after Nick first dubs him Greggo in 2x05 (“Hey, leggo my Greggo!”), Warrick readily picks that up and uses it twice in the remainder of the season, and Sara once. Nick actually doesn’t use it again, but once near the end of the season he calls him “G”, which no one else has used so far. • Gris: this one seems to be just a Nick and Warrick thing • “my dear”: what Grissom calls Catherine over the phone when she’s in Miami, with the most comfortable married energy you can imagine. I love Mom and Dad.
- There is NOTABLY more dynamic blocking/cam work this season, a real increase in depth of field particularly in the crime lab. Either they’re giving the cinematographer more time, or someone’s getting more ambitious, or they hired up.
- After only getting paired on one case last season, the powers that be (Grissom or execs, whether you want to think of it Watsonian or Doyleist) are letting Catherine and Sara work together more, and it’s great, they’re great together and a great team. I like when they’re stuck out with a body at remote convenience store waiting for the coroner and Sara gets bored and starts using all the fluorescent print powders in the kit and lifts like 800 neon fingerprints while Catherine just paces around steamed and gnawing on the candy bar Sara handed her from one of the shelves.
- Maybe one third of the actors who play dead bodies breathe in their shots, and I wish I hadn’t learned to notice that
- In episode 9, CSI is suddenly allowed: butts, nipples, and SIGUR ROS. All before we even get to Lady Heather’s place! Truly she brings us so much.
Speaking of Lady Heather—guest stars, get yer guest stars: • Julie Cooper from The OC as the professional, warm dominatrix who has a WONDERFUL dynamic with both Grissom and Catherine and I like her so much • Jeremy Renner, as The Worst • most of the cast of Desperate Housewives—and they are always the murderers • Daniel Dae Kim! as a hot (given) federal treasury guy • the Janitor from Scrubs, whom I recognized from the back of his head…[shaking my own] • tiny Aaron Paul as Son Of Redneck, who has secretly fallen for the Buddhist monks down the street and sneaks off to pray with them without his father knowing • unsavory chop shop mechanic Zachary Quinto, in what is hopefully a wig and an equally greasy jumpsuit
Tumblr media
In 2x10, ‘Warrick Brown and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day’ (not the real title), something happens to cause Gary Dourdan to make this face 8 separate times
Tumblr media
In this scene in 2x12, Marg Helgenberger and George Eads look like they’re auditioning for CSI: Marseille
- I don’t know if we’ve ever gone to Bar 911, but it’s been name dropped several times. It does not seem to be a reputable establishment, or at the very least is the initiating grounds for all sorts of malfeasances.
The two times Nick Stokes and I had the exact same heart attack: 1. When I’d had most of a St. Germaine gin & tonic and was drifting into a CSI-related daydream during a meditative scene of Nick just quietly examining a car, and then Greg Sanders popped his head in the passenger door like HI. (Incidentally, we then learn that Greg is constantly snuck up on in the glass box he calls a lab, which actually feels like it explains a Lot) 2. On the next day and in the next episode, when I was eating grapes as Nick went through a house, and nearly bit my finger when a pet parrot suddenly squawked
- In episode 16 we learn that Warrick plays original jazz piano compositions, as if he wasn’t already hot enough. (Then at the end of the episode when he’s feeling low and vulnerable he sits down at a gambling table in a casino and we’re like nooo, but then Nick just quietly appears and takes the seat next to him and Warrick’s like what are you doing man and Nick says he’s just here to play some cards with his friend, and I had a Whole Human Emotion)
- Finally, the Greg Sanders Arc Watch continues apace, but I’m withholding any commentary on how that seems to be working until I get at least another season in, because I wanna confirm a hunch. And in S2 the main point of Greg is still these 30 second cutscenes where someone tries to get DNA results from him before he says something so embarrassing that their soul liquifies out of their body. But they’ve sent Nick in so many times that this season—definitely against Nick’s better judgement—the two of them began to develop a game, where Greg speedily starts drawing chemical compounds related to the case on his clear dry-erase board and Nick tries to guess what they are before he’s done. “What did I win?” Nick asks on the second occasion of this, and we do not get an answer to that.
Anyway, to carry us out— Grissom: “Say goodbye to Greg.” Sara: “Bye Greg.”

Andi Mack 3x11 Review
One in a Minyan was a truly historic episode and one of the best, if not the best, episode of the series so far. Let’s dig in!
Positives:
Cyrus saying the word gay was such an important moment; the kind of moment that will long outlive the show itself. There’s a power in naming things and Cyrus not being allowed to use the word gay was a black mark on the show that has now been scrubbed clean. I never thought we’d see this day until Josh hinted at it last week; we’ve come so far from the days when the Mack chat kids were visibly straining to avoid saying the word gay after Cyrus came out to Buffy in 2x01. I commend Terri for getting this approved which I’m sure wasn’t easy. It will really help a lot of kids and adults to see an openly gay boy on a Disney show say that he’s gay and will hopefully open the door for more moments like this on other shows and networks
And such growth for Cyrus; he was so sad and scared when he came out to Buffy and now look at him
Stellar acting and writing all around. Josh delivered a show stopping performance and Asher did great as well. Jonathan Hurwitz should be commended for such a great script; there were some really sharp lines
Loved the dark humour in this ep. Cyrus saying they just buried Bubbe so she’s probably not coming, to the old ladies wagering on who would die next, and Cyrus telling Jonah that if he died they were set up for Shiva
And some very heart warming lines as well. It’s always nice when Andi can be involved in Cyrus’ sexuality story line as it makes it more powerful when lines on Andi Mack are being delivered by Andi Mack herself. Her telling Cyrus that it was his choice when to come out or to whom but he didn’t need to be afraid as people love and care about him was very moving.
I liked the poignancy of Cyrus regretting not telling his Bubbe. He’ll never get to tell her but he still has a life to lead and people he can tell
Andi hugging Cece and telling her that she still has her Bubbe was lovely, we don’t get to see too many moments like that between them. Loved Celia still not liking being called a grandma in any language
Jonah’s chill reaction to Cyrus coming out to him is very in character. They’ve done a wonderful job of building a deep friendship between Cyrus and Jonah that they weren’t allowed to focus on while Cyrus still had a crush on Jonah
TJ’s scene was brief but very nice, it was a sweet gesture for TJ to bring challah. Having Andi ask if that was TJ was a sly way for the show to direct more attention to his presence there. It wouldn’t shock me if we see a callback to the ‘’You came/Of course I did’’ moment towards the end of the season. I liked the subtle touch of Cyrus smoothing his shirt as he stood up to greet TJ. And interesting call back to have the same music for their scene and there was for Cyrus’ first kiss with Iris though only the most dedicated of fans will know that
It’s subtextual but I’d hope the casual audience would clue in to TJ arriving right after they discuss Cyrus’ former crush on Jonah and right before Cyrus and Andi tease Buffy about Marty not to mention the very fact that he even showed up in this Cyrus focused episode and realize that he’s Cyrus’ love interest
This marks the 3rd ep in a row where a love interest has shown up briefly at the very end of the ep: Walker, Marty, and TJ.
As an aside it’s noteworthy that they’re flying in recurring characters for such small scenes when they didn’t really do that for S2; a sign of the shows increased budget and a side-effect of Bowie being a main and needing more screen time
I think this ep was probably the most successful at balancing the Macks and the other characters so far this season. The Cloud 10 scene was out of place but otherwise they all fit in very nicely. Bowie’s dramatic exit was funny and I think this may have been one of the eps with the least amount of Bex screen time which worked in its favour
Celia was used perfectly, I loved the cold open with her and Andi. It really showed how much Andi and Celia have in common; they can both be brusque and can have a harshness to them that Bex and Bowie lack.
I liked the callback to the pilot with Andi making a lamp out of Bex’s old cd’s. We know that Andi explores her art later on in the season and I wonder if we’ll see her centrepieces at the wedding
It was great seeing the focus on Jewish culture; all the small details were interesting to see and look up later. And I liked that they got the same Rabbi they used for 2x13 back, a nice little bit of continuity
I’m glad that Andi and Cyrus aren’t even pretending that Buffy isn’t interested in Marty romantically to some extent, it’s going to make the dramatic journey from here to Machel sinking in 3x17 that much easier
It was nice seeing Cyrus’ parents even if briefly. They didn’t bother bringing back the step parents which isn’t super surprising; it was great to have Cyrus come from a complex family but having 4 parents makes it way too hard for the show to give them any focus
I’m assuming Bubbe Rose was Norman’s mother since Leslie referred to her as Rose rather than as her mother
Aunt Ruthie being so hetero-normative was realistic and I’m glad they had Andi have that encounter with her rather than Cyrus
I’m glad they went with One in a Minyan as the title especially as it doubles as a touching tribute to Terri’s father it being the inscription engraved on his headstone
Looking Ahead:
I’m going to skip the negatives section for this ep; we all know the restrictions imposed on Cyrus’ story line and there will be plenty of time in the coming months to dig into the price the show paid for what got approved this episode. It’s a shame Cyrus won’t come out to his parents though it wouldn’t shock me if we get a brief mention of it in the show or in the texts towards the end of the season
We already knew from Josh showing that title page for 3x12 that they filmed on the day they also filmed at the amusement park which was in the middle of filming ep 13 but it looks like all the park scenes are for 3x12. I trust Luke’s imdb which has been very accurate so far so I’m inclined to think that him and Raquel were just at the park to hang out once the other kids were done filming
Finally the wish gets revealed; I wonder how much of the audience still remembers it by this point
If Buffy assumes that Jamber is back together then that likely means Jibby is already sunk; we’ll see what the texts mention these next couple of weeks
I don’t think Jamber is back together though I do hope we at some point get Amber apologizing for her mistreatment of Jonah
The promo certainly makes it look like Andi knows for a specific reason that Jamber aren’t back together and if the wish is Jonah’s and it is about Beck family issues then I could see his closeness with Amber being because they are supporting each other with their family problems
Not happy to see Miranda or Morgan back. I wonder if she causes trouble by trying to plant the seeds of doubt that one of either Bex or Bowie really wants another kid or if she mentions being married and getting divorced
Peyton’s dad guest stars next ep though he had been listed for 3x13. Bex does look like she could possibly be getting cold feet and if the wedding will go awry before being brought back on track it has to happen soon
I think the set up of this ep is close to what we’ll see in the finale; lot’s of small moments with lots of characters mostly taking place in or around the Mack house
It will be very interesting to see if they let Cyrus or TJ use the word gay again or if this was a one time deal. If TJ could tell people he was gay in 3x19 it would make it much easier to get to the Tyrus confession scene in 3x21; presumably Cyrus and I’d hope his friends, would have to have some reason to believe that TJ could reciprocate his feelings
I’ve never subscribed to the Jonah will figure out Tyrus’ feelings and play matchmaker theory because it’s wildly out of character, his obliviousness has been his most consistent trait. But I do find it noteworthy that they’ve spent all this time building up the friendship between Cyrus and Jonah and also dedicated an ep to having Jonah and TJ become friends. It would be very subversive to have Cyrus go to Jonah for romantic advice; it’s not often we see a straight guy giving his gay best friend advice on guys and it does make some sense with Jonah having had the most relationships of any of the characters. The safest and easiest route is just have Cyrus talk to Buffy about his feelings in 3x19 and there would be nothing wrong with that especially as Terri wouldn’t have had much leverage left when negotiating the final eps with Disney but it does seem like the kind of progressive move she would go for if allowed
It will be interesting if anyone else other than TJ finds out that Cyrus is gay. If Marty and Amber and Kira can never find out then that limits what can be done in the finale
And one last interesting thing is that unlike the Tyrus bash mitzvah scene their scene tonight didn’t get cut and partly that is because it involved other characters in a way that makes it much more difficult to cut or edit. I’m sure the Tyrus confession scene will be just the two of them but I do think there will be some linkage before or after to other characters to make it harder to cut should Disney have gotten cold feet (which I don’t think they will at this point)
Only 10 eps left! There’s really no other show like Andi Mack out there. It’s going to be a wild ride these finals eps

thoughts on Irresistible (2x13)
Written by Chris Carter           Directed by David Nutter
The red throughout the funeral home is very striking and very 90s
This guy who is definitely the villain is kinda hot, yikes
Tumblr media
WTF???
The theme song is a bop, as always
Did Mulder just admit that something didn’t look like the work of aliens to him??
I’m screaming, Mulder got them football tickets,,,
Aww, they missed the game...that was gonna be cute
So far we’ve had a blood fetish episode and now a hair fetish...K
My baby Scully is really being affected by this and I don’t blame her one bit
“Agent Fox”- that’s a new one
This guy is really asking this girl to shampoo her hair in front of him...Chris Carter I H8 U
Tumblr media
Ewww he keeps flowers from graves in his room
Have I ever mentioned that Chris Carter hates women???
Dana Scully I literally love you so much, I adore the fact that you’re not afraid to admit when you’re freaked out and you don’t try to put on a brave face and I know you’re fictional but that’s just how I feel!!
This guy’s hair fetish,,,please god release me from this hell created by Chris Carter himself
Scully’s in her scrubs!!!
“That death, like life itself, is a drama with a beginning, middle, and end”
Thank you Mulder and Scully for acknowledging how messed up this episode is (Chris Carter don’t interact)
YESSSS this girl just fought back against creepy hair guy
Tumblr media
UM fuck?? Scully’s dream??
I don’t know if you can even tell, but I’m actually enjoying this episode
Ooooo, he’s right behind you Scully!!
Scully knows it’s him, she just knows
Dana Scully I literally loveeeee you
They really about to let this guy go...okay
Scully going to a therapist...I’m actually gonna cry, I love her
“Are you aware that you’ve been talking about yourself in the second person”
Tumblr media
SHE’S CRYING, everyone shut up
“I trust him as much as anyone, I trust him with my life” this episode is really serving huh
I just want to hug her
I would like to thank Dana Scully for giving me all my rights
Oh fuxk she’s being stalked or something isn’t she
I really cannot do this right now, I really cannot
Oh god they found her car
Why is it always Scully who goes missing, huh, Chris Carter?
Tumblr media
I literally want to die, thanks Chris Carter
Is it bad that this extra creeps me out because Scully and I have the same hair color
I really really really would like to have a chat with Chris Carter right about now
STOP calling her “girly girl” I’m going to puke
Aww they found her
She’s crying on Mulder’s shoulder, it’s over for me
Tumblr media
Consensus: I absolutely did not expect to like this episode as much as I did. While I definitely have some bones to pick with Chris Carter in general, it was nice to see Scully deal with some ramifications from her abduction and open up a bit emotionally. Now it’s Mulder’s turn.
4 out of 5 stars.
