Have you noticed that there are complaint departments, but there are no compliment departments. I think that's backward. I try to point out the things that people are doing well, much more than complain. If I'm in the store and a cashier does a great job or someone goes out of their way to help me find something or does something well, I always find the supervisor and tell them about it. It doesn't take long, and I think it encourages people to take pride in what they are doing and continue to do it well. If more people did this, I think it would make a very positive difference in the world. I think that people should spend, at least, twice the amount of time they spend complaining about things telling people positive things. This way, people will know what they're doing right, and others may start doing these things, too. We need to focus on the positive and it will lessen the negative. At the least, it'll make someone feel good about themselves. That right there is well worth it. Just a thought. 😊

HALADRIEL WEEK: ALTERNATE UNIVERSE
A/N: This one is a sequel to Only Way Out (another 500 word ficlet). It should be read first! Also, this one is either a very strong T or mild M.
SAY THANK YOU (ao3)
Halbrand’s gaze was tactile, ubiquitous. Her only reprieve from his unwavering stares was in her house, in class. He was around every corner in school, leaning against the wall. When she stepped out of her front door, he was sitting on his porch steps, blowing a puff of cigarette smoke toward her. Never letting her forget the scent of tobacco and something herbal as he hovered over her.
Louder. Yes, that’s it. Good girl. Now say my name. Again. Louder. Louder.
Galadriel shoved down the memory, the answering flutter in her belly, and pasted on a smile as she made her way to her group of friends. She could feel his eyes on her, but she refused to give him the satisfaction of looking. She bumped shoulders with Elrond, talked about homework, plans for the weekend with Brimby and Míriel. Soon the others begged off for clubs, internships. She had cross-country practice on the other side of campus.
Unsurprisingly, Halbrand fell into step with her halfway there. “You’ve been avoiding me.”
“I’ve always avoided you,” she returned through gritted teeth, “because you disgust me.
“Oh, I don’t think that’s it at all.” He stepped into her path. “I think you’re disgusted with yourself because I don’t repulse you.” Leaning forward, he murmured, “You don’t like knowing that you’re not the good girl you pretend to be.”
Fury and something she didn’t want to name stirred thick in her stomach. “How dare you!” Her hand flew toward his face, but he easily caught it.
He dragged her with him to an empty corridor, pushed her up against the wall. She could have screamed—there were still others on the grounds—but screaming felt like weakness. It felt like losing.
“How often have you thought about me this week?” he asked, hands on either side of her head. Hands that gripped the headboard that night as he groaned out his own fake climax. “Tell the truth now.”
“I’m not telling you anything,” she growled. She tried to duck under his arm, but he blocked her.
He grabbed her chin, forced her to see the snarl curling his lip. “I saved you.”
“You want me to kiss your feet?” She glared up at him.
“Now there’s an idea.” He gave her a perverse grin, the hand on her chin moving to the back of her neck. “It’s time you showed me a little gratitude.” He held her gaze for a tremulous beat, challenge in his hazel eyes. Her pulse stuttered in her chest.
Then his mouth was on hers, hot, consuming. He wasn’t asking, he was taking, and her entire body lit up in a terrifying, wonderful way. She wanted more—needed it. She slid her fingers into his hair, pulled him closer, and how was it still not enough?
Abruptly, he broke off the kiss. “That’s a good start,” he said, wiping his thumb across his bottom lip as he backed away. “See you around, Noldor.”
She screamed then. She hated him.

The story continues in Midnight Favor.

Baseball is Juanderful these days, thanks to Juan Soto!! After his home run today, as he crossed home plate, he looked up and thanked his creator. I love this guy!!! He's young, making the big bucks, and he's at the top of his game, yet he always looks up and takes the time to say thank you when he does well. It is humbling and beautiful to see him pay his respect and give thanks for his amazing talent to something greater than himself. We could all take a lesson and inspiration from Mr Soto. I'm thankful for him. He's made the Yankees a force to be reckoned with, and he's a lovely individual. 😍 I hope he is a Yankee forever 😁 you know that I gotta say it.... let's go Yankees!!!!!
