SAM/SASHA AND ALICE/TIM????
TMAGP ep 1-2 Spoilers!! (And TMA Spoilers!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Do you realize how similar Alice and Sam are to Tim and Sasha?
Many of you talked about Alice being fun, carefree and the comic relief, like Tim in the first season.
But what happens if we look deeper? I start with Alice and Tim because I think they are the most obvious
-Alice does not have "professional respect" for either Gwen or Lena.
Just like what happened between Tim and Jon. But none of them go so far as to "completely disrespect them."(at least S1 Tim).
-Alice has a younger brother who she apparently cares a lot about, just like Tim was with Danny. Besides, (this is my theory), but the way they introduced Alice's brother, I get the feeling that his fate won't be very different from poor Danny's.
-They know more than they say, Alice clearly knows more than she tells Sam,Alice has been working for the government for at least 4 years, and the only time she acted seriously was to tell Sam that he shouldn't get too involved in the cases, because she saw people go crazy because of it.
Something similar happened with Tim in the first seasons, he knew that the Fears were real, he knew things about the stranger, he was looking for revenge..
And now on to the similarities between Sam and Sasha.
-They were both overqualified for their position, Lena told Sam that the job he applied for was too low for his level, but he didn't care,on the other hand ,Sasha must have been The Archivist, Gerdtrud knew this, that's why her warning notes were made for her, but Elias found out after Killing Gerdtrud and left Sasha as assistant and put Jon as The Archivist..
-Sam is calm, he follows Alice's games but is professional towards his colleagues, Just like the little we saw of Sasha, She treated Jon quite well even though at the time Jon was a bit... very Shitty.
That's why Jon trusted her so much.
-Curiosity , Sam asked a lot of questions throughout the first 2 chapters, and when he didn't get answers he started investigating on his own. When Sasha met Michael, she wanted answer, without caring about the danger.
Also, That could have been a foreshadowing that Sam will be connected to the Eye of this reality???.
- Both of their names start with "SA" but that's not very important /j
And finally, we analyze Alice and Sam as a duo and the parallels they have with Tim and Sasha. The two of them complement each other perfectly, they play each other's games and we feel their connection.
Besides Alice and Sam are exes (although I think it's more of a reference to Georgie and Jon) Sasha and Tim always had an "almost something?????".like we heard in the fifth season..
I don't know, at some point I felt like I was listening to the reincarnations of the chaotic Archives duo , you know what I mean?
(English is not my first language, please let me know if I have any spelling mistakes🙏)

i'm having so much fun with the new tmagp characters (and i will miss them dearly until april 11th) (side note: patreon members get access on my sisters birthday which is pretty cool) and i don't want to compare them to the tma characters because they are unique and different in MANY ways, i just also notice some parallels
gwen is very similar to jon, she has had a somewhat skeptic attitude but has now clearly been exposed to the horrors (bonzo..) and she's also climbing the corporate ladder if you will. she runs the place, she's grumpy, and i think she's closer to becoming an avatar than any of the others (even sam) (see my other post about it if youd like) (idk how to link it on mobile sorry)
alice and tim are kinda obvious, both comedic with younger brothers and are very susceptible to romantic feelings (sasha/sam). there was a lot more going on with tim and we haven't seen much of that side of alice, so i'm really excited to learn about her backstory and/or traumas. less excited about what that might to do her but yk.. yk..
sam/sasha is the most interesting one to me. sam is curious like sasha was. sasha wanted to know which made her archivist potential in everyone's eyes. sam also wants to know, he'd make a great archivist. except he's not cautious, he's like sasha if she had never worked in the artifact storage. i think sasha's strength was what she had already experienced and what she knew, but she didn't know enough and ultimately that got her killed. sam is going to keep learning until he does know enough, but he doesn't have that prior knowledge to stop him from going too far. very interesting characters from both of them
celia and martin i guess? celia's different since she's not exactly from tmagp
lena and elias because creepy murder boss
and finally colin and gertrude which is kind of insane of me to say but hear me out. gertrude cut out the eyes of book covers and magazines and everything in her home. she was incredibly paranoid she just was also a boss ass bitch about it. i think younger gertrude must've been a lot like colin, but she figured it out quicker and realized what she needed to do to survive. she asked the right questions and took the right precautions. she had the archive full of knowledge. colin doesn't have the archive, he's messing with the wrong thing and he's taking every precaution and hurting himself and those around him (sam's phone specifically comes to mind). i think gertrude was like colin but she had the right resources to get through it
idk all of these are very interesting and it makes me worry a bit, but ofc every character is unique and has aspects to them that change their stories. they're probably still gonna die though, we know jonny sims loves killing characters ☹️

CHUCK You want to know if I know about the demon blood. I didn't even write it into the books. I was afraid it would make you look unsympathetic.

The Jon/Sam parallels of being inexperienced, confused, too curious for their own good, doing personal research, disliking the filing systems, and actually caring about the contents of the stuff they're filing.
The Gwen/Sasha parallels of being the one with experience who is actually very good at their job, should be taken seriously and be in charge but isn't, and holding the team together in the background.
The Alice/Tim parallels of being the comic relief, being the closest to our main guy before they got this job, not taking their job seriously at all, and having little brothers who are probably going to get into a lot of trouble.
I can't easily pair Colin/Martin sadly. They're constantly angry though. One's just a bit more subtle.
HOWEVER, consider this:
The Colin/Jon parallels of being frustrated by things not making sense, their desire to understand everything, the feeling that their systems are working against them, and intense paranoia.
The minor Lena/Elias parallels of having some weird stuff going on in their past and also up front just being frustrating bosses.

I didn’t start listening to the Magnus Archives until they were pretty well into their popularity and so people were already pretty set in how all of the characters looked when drawing them in fan art and such and I am honestly so excited to be listening to the Magnus protocol right as it’s starting because it means I’ll be able to see the ‘early art’ of it, everyone’s first impressions of what they assume the characters would look like.
I love how the fandom collectively views the characters of the Magnus Archives but I also just find it so interesting to see what other people first imaged when they heard the voices of these faceless characters. Please, all fan artists out there, please draw the characters how you first imagined them and not necessarily how you see others draw them because it is so unbelievably cool to me and also I love you ok bye.

I don’t know if anyone else has thought of this but I really like the thought that TMAGP kinda might be like if Sasha was the main character. Like, I don’t know I mean a lot of us have come to the consensus that Gwen is Jon coded and Alice is Tim Coded and Sam is Sasha coded. But in TMA we don’t get a lot of Sasha bc yk ⚠️!!!Spoiler Alert!!!⚠️ She dies. And we know that Gertrude intended for her to be Head Archivist instead of Jon. Sam is relentlessly curious and a little reckless (but hey, what’s caution in the face of knowledge’s pursuit?) just like we see Sasha is when she decides to FOLLOW MICHAEL. INTO A CEMETERY. And I love that Jon is our Archivist, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes I mourn the fact that we don’t get to see Sasha in action, even as a side character, as one of Jon’s companions. I dunno I just like to think that we get to see a little bit of Sasha as a main character in everything Sam does, enjoy just a liiiitle bit of her potential and personality a tad longer, even if it’s through a completely different character. Or yk. I cld be wrong. Idk.
