First there was the ridiculously insensitive and poorly researched Mexican week, and now they come for the Americans with whatever the hell those things were that they were calling s'mores...

GBBO prediction for next week is that they will continue their total alienation of North America by going after Canada and making the bakers do poutine that inexplicably uses bread instead of fries while Matt bathes in maple syrup while making direct eye contact with the camera and Noel wears a moose head.

Genji

Genji loves to go out, but in his Blackwatch era the days of arcade games and goofing off are at an all-time low

However, he loves to hike.

He feels in his time of getting used to a cybernetic body, he has lost touch with himself.

Being out in nature helps him find peace whereas being in Moira's lab cannot

He doesn't really camp and spend the night too often though with you he'll pack a couple hammocks and find a nice campground

He'll pull you in with him a set you in his lap and pull out a book all while having his arms around you

Occasionally if you're cuddled against his chest, he'll pull you up to kiss you, and he'll have his body cybernetics heat up to keep you warm if the day grows cold

Genji doesn't necessarily eat, but Angela made it so he's able to enjoy small amounts of food

This means S'mores!

He enjoys them, but he likes feeding you them and laughing at the chocolate and marshmallow mess on your face

you did the same to him and it was one of the first times you've heard him laugh whole heartedly and man was that a majestic feeling

On the side, another hobby he's picked up is wood carving

Genji loves to make little statues for you, whether it's of dragons or foxes and if you're lucky he'll make a little inscription

Cassidy

Doesn't really have technology, but he does own a Wii?

Wii sports date night with the cowboy who's weirdly good at Wii bowling

Cassidy jokingly calls himself a gamer, but even a junker with -1 braincell could see he's not

The moment you buy Mario kart Wii and beat him over and over he's on his KNEES begging to play something else

REFUSES TO PLAY RED DEAD REDEMPTION NO MATTER HOW GOOD THE GRAPHICS ARE

Like I said in other post, while He can't barbeque his specialty lies in making comfort foods like corn bread, BBQ beans, mashed potatoes, and a basic pan seared steak.

On days your sick he'll whip up a hot tomato bisque with some bread on the side

Cassidy would love if you'd join him in the kitchen, meal preparation is always a pain in the ass

Going out, another thing he likes to do is go to carnivals, though he hates rollercoasters of any kind

He just likes showing you all the cheats to the unwinnable games

Not because he's scared, he just gets sick on them very easy

ok fine he's scared, I tried to cover for him but no he's a scaredy cat

If the day is free and slow, he's totally ok with chilling at home and holding you on the couch

Beware his beard tickles you during most kisses

Likes to wrap his poncho around you and put his cowboy hat on you

Moira

Such a weeb, and you'll know it after many nights in her lab

Watches anime while doing trivial experiments or documenting her results and she'll have you right there with her

When she goes home, she takes you with her and in all honesty she way too tired to cook so expect some take-out and a bottle of wine

Dinner is usually pretty animated; home is a place where she feels open to talk to you about her frustrations and excitements and she knows you'll listen and take to heart what she says

Make-out sessions with wine-stained lips, moira's pretty saucy milf don't sass me anon

Her corrupted hand pains her though she doesn't show it in front of others

Having you near her helps distract her form the pain ahd you and turn just puts some heat packs in the microwave and hold them against her arm

Occasional affection, but not much and that mostly stems from her fear of hurting you

Won't hesitate to kiss you though

absolutely no PDA

Long chess matches, she likes to play wits against wits

insert another wine-stained make out session here after you lose a match

her haughtiness after a winning makes her this way

She loves to style hair; it helps her unwind and she's rather good at it

same goes for nails, honestly, I can't paint nails for shit, but know that moira can and she will do yours in a heartbeat

SPA DATES

Big man. big arms. big cuddles

Sparring matches at HQ! Helps burn off energy and Afterwords he likes to head home with you

karaoke night, he probably finds some songs to sing in Spanish to woo you

Definitely a dancer, and won't take no for answer if he drags you out onto the floor

His thighs save lives

pulls you into his arms and sways to the beat

Twirls then dips you (the crowd gasps)

type of guy to have a rose in his mouth tbh

On the drive back he' gets drive thru and you two are laughing your asses of on the standup comedy radio

Gabriel occasionally takes you to this seaside cliff where he goes to contemplate and reflect on his decisions.

It's late at night and with the bags of fast food in his hand and a flashlight in the other he takes you to the top.

Once Gabe finds the spot, he finds the remnants of an old campfire and starts a fire and a couple worn plastic chairs are already set around the fire

You two are chowing down on fast food burgers and fries, and he reaches over with one arms and pulls you to his side

After finishing he puts out the fire and the stars become clearer than ever and looking over the cliff, the waves glow blue with bioluminescence

Gabriel smiles warmly at you and wraps an arm around your waist and brings his lips to yours

His kisses warm you up as the ocean breeze blows past the two of you

Must make bread/cake/biscuits that are tasty (but they can't have any flavours that I personally do not like even if everyone else in the tent likes them)

Must be able to bake something perfectly every single week (with no instructions and half the time any decent competition would give you and also you've never heard of it before)

"Here's what we want them to make this week" (describes every single bit of it wrong in the most pretentious way possible (yes I'm still pissed about the fucking s'mores description and I will fight everyone about it))

Note

A bagel s'more isn't too far out there- in the New England area we have a soft marshmallow spread called Fluff, and a staple sandwich is called a fluffernutter (a peanut butter and fluff sandwich). Using Nutella instead of peanut butter would make the sandwich a lot sweeter, and substituting bread for a bagel gives it a more breakfast feel than an after school/work indulgence. I advise you to toast the bagel first, then spread the Nutella and fluff for a warm, gooey experience~

I am well acquainted with fluffernutters, and have had a few in my day! Unfortunately, Fluff is unlikely to be available where I currently live, as I've never seen it. It's why I opted for regular marshmallows.

Also, I'm pretty sure Fluff is sweeter than real marshmallow anyway, and doesn't quite toast the same way.

Last song I listened to: "Dripfield" by Goose. (But on and off today it's been "obsessed" by Olivia Rodrigo and "Too Sweet" by Hozier, both of which are pushing the "tasty riff" buttons in my brain.)

Last thing I read: This oral history of the making of Clueless, which is a Vanity Fair piece excerpted from a longer book!

Last movie I watched: Sholay (1975), which has EVERYTHING. Romance! Tragedy! Buddy comedy! A train robbery! Satire of imperialism! Canadian tuxedos! Groovy color! A young Amitabh Bachchan! A 1970s amount of chest hair! You will watch three hours of this 1970s Indian musical Western (yes really) and think to yourself "Honestly, I could have watched some more of this."

Last TV show: "Ugliest Houses in America" on HGTV, which is worth it just to hang out with Retta for a while.

Last thing I googled: "Apothic Dark review" (my thoughts: it was fine to cook with, but not my favorite drinking wine)

Last thing I ate: A s'more (toasted over a stove burner).

Sweet, salty, or savory: I really prefer any two of these in conjunction tbh...but probably sweet? (The real answer is "bread.")

Sleep: Soon, thank you, yes.

Currently reading: I just finished How I Won A Nobel Prize (which I would honestly very much like to discuss with someone) and am preparing to start North Woods.

Baking Highlights 2023

I have baked significantly more this year than I have in any other, and also tried many, many more new recipes. This was partially the result of really intensely using baking as stress relief, but I am happy about it.

Some highlights, with recipe links where I can find them though I mostly bake out of my print cookbooks (this year my biggest successes were almost exclusively courtesy of Deb Perelman/Smitten Kitchen), include:

48 Oreo cupcakes baked on a work night

Raspberry-chocolate-almond rugelach

Molasses spice cookies (I did both Perelman and Saffitz' spice cookies this year, and Perelman wins)

The best pound cake I have ever made

An even better lemon poppy seed than my previous standard one

Strawberries and cream layer cake also baked on a work night

The most complicated rhubarb loaf cake ever, which was none the less worth it (this one was a Claire Saffitz)

Marbled bundt cake which exceeds all my expectations for marbled cakes by quite a lot

Raspberry muffins i.e. the first time I've been satisfied with muffins of mine

Stone fruit cobbler

Birthday tea party menu

Pumpkin bread

Salted halvah blondies (another Claire Saffitz)

Flourless chocolate cake

Cranberry bars & pumpkin cheesecake tart for Thanksgiving

S'mores bars to finish out the year

In 2024 I hope to keep baking a lot, and to get comfortable with some more complicated techniques, particularly making custards and meringues and working with yeasted doughs (brioche, babka, cinnamon rolls, etc).

I am glad that this is a part of my life, though I do truly wish I had more people to give my baking to.

Thinking of Steve and Nancy in autumn....

Nancy borrowing Steve's sweaters because they're warm and big and cozy on her body

Steve always making sure to wake up before Nancy goes to work so she has a cup of pumpkin spice coffee ready for her

So many trips to local farms for apples and spices and breads and pies

Their house always smelling like cinnamon

Scary movie marathons

Nancy always buying pumpkin muffins because they're Steve's favorite

Pumpkin decorating competitions (Nancy always wins)

Steve wanting to make s'mores every Sunday (And planting sticky marshmallow kisses right on her lips to make her laugh)

Visiting wineries and breweries

Throwing a Halloween party every year and always doing a couple's costume

Steve spending hours raking the leaves only for Nancy to jump in the pile (He eventually joins in)

Debating over which autumn drink is better: Hot chocolate or apple cider (Steve says hot chocolate...Nancy swears it's apple cider)

Haunted house visits (Steve tries to protect Nancy but ends up squeezing her hand a bit too tight when he falls victim to one too many jump scares)

Attempting to make homemade candy apples

Nancy discovering her newfound love of chili and other fall soups

Steve's fingers itching to buy every single Halloween decoration in sight

Weekend trips to the farmer's market

Nancy curling up by the fireplace with a good book (Steve covers her with a blanket when she inevitably falls asleep)

Stargazing with wool blankets and many warm cider flavored kisses

"oh y/n dear! it's always so good to see you! come in" mrs. kageyama said as she greeted you. you smiled "good to see you too akari-san! thank you for letting me in"

you went into the kageyama household and took of your shoes. she smiled "tobio is setting up something in the basement, you can put your bag in his room if you want"

you nodded to her and was going to walk towards the stairs until tobio appeared at the corner "oh, hey y/n. i just finished setting up, meet me in the kitchen in a bit" he informed you and spared you with a little wave and a smile.

you giggled and nodded "okay tobio, i'm wondering what you have planned for us tonight" he shoved his hands in his pockets "you'll see" then went to the kitchen.

you shook your head fondly and headed to his room. you placed your bag near his door and went back down to meet the blueberry boy. you were already wearing your pj's, which was a hoodie and some shorts.

you found tobio preparing ingredients for smores, your eyes sparkled "oooh~ s'mores??" you asked stopping next to him. he smiled "yea, but it's a different kind of s'mores"

you tilted your head at him, waiting for him to explain. he blinked then focused back on placing bread in the glass container. "basically, we place some bread on the bottom, then some chocolate on top of the bread, then some marshmallows"

"how about the graham?" you rose a brow while helping him "you didn't let me finish. after that, we microwave it until the top of the marshmallows are golden brown or something"

he says while breaking apart the chocolate bars. you gasped in excitement, he held back a little smile hearing that. "oh my- so this is like a s'mores dip!?" you squealed.

he chuckled and nodded, keeping an eye on the chocolate on your hand making sure you don't break it unevenly. "okay, i love this idea!" you gushed.

he hummed "i knew you would. anyways, what disney movie do you want to watch" he had a ghost smile when he saw in the corner of his eye that you practically had whiplash from turning your head to him at a fast pace.

"we're watching disney?!" you asked with such excitement, it just made you cuter.

god, stop being so cute. you're giving the poor boy a heart attack.

he nodded, not saying anything. "can we watch rapunzel? ooh! and the little mermaid?" you asked excitedly, you were bouncing on your heel, thinking of what else to watch while the volleyball maniac was placing the marshmallows on top of the chocolate.

"we can watch any movie you want" he said absentmindedly, putting the glass container in the microwave and setting the time.

you hopped on the counter and swung your legs childishly. tobio leaned on the counter and looked at you.

you were smiling uncontrollably while watching the microwave giddily. his eyes softened and decided to make a move. he moved so he was in front of you, hands on either side of your thighs.

you stopped swinging your legs and looked at him, shocked and flustered. "t-tobio?"

he was just staring at you fondly, then his eyes moved to where your hands were fiddling with the hoodie sleeve. he gently took one of your hands into his and looked up at you.

you blushed at the action, maintaining eye contact with him.

"keep smiling at me like that, please"

kunimi akira

"thanks for helping, l/n-san" iwaizumi bowed to you. you smiled and waved it off "i think it should be me who has to thank you. it's my job to cleanup, you didn't have to help me"

he stood tall and shook his head "you would need help with all this big space honestly, the others are lazy. i'll get them to help next time, they shouldn't leave a girl cleaning up this whole place."

you giggled "always such a gentleman, iwaizumi-san" you bowed then stood up straight "i should get going. kunimi-kun and i are gonna hang out"

"is he waiting for you?"

"yup! he didn't help because he said he had to get something first" you grabbed your bag from the bench and stepped out the gym, your upperclassman following behind.

he nodded "well, have fun l/n-san. i have to go kill crappykawa for leaving you to clean up most of his mess"

you locked the gym doors with the key and placed it in your pockets. "ok, make sure to go easy on him senpai, we need our captain in perfect shape for the practice match in a few days"

he chuckled "yea sure. bye l/n-san, have a good night" he waved. you waved back "bye senpai! you have a goodnight too"

you walked to the school gate since kunimi said he'll be waiting for you there. you see the lazy boy leaning against a pole with his phone in hand and a lollipop in his mouth.

"kunimi-kun! i'm here" you called out to him and he looked up from his phone. he pocketed his phone and stood up straight "you ready to go?" he asked, the lollipop still in his mouth.

you hummed in response and nodded "where are you taking me?" both of you started walking out of the school.

"you'll see"

you followed kunimi to your destination while both of you talked about anything that came up to mind. the boy suddenly stopped at the bottom of a hill and turned to you.

"we're here. we just have to go up there" he pointed at the top and you nodded "ok, im excited on what you have planned" you grinned

he looked away bashfully "mhm, yea" you two proceeded to go up the hill. once you reached the top, you saw a picnic blanket laid on the grass and a picnic basket at the side.

your eyes sparkled "a picnic? this late?" you asked. he shrugged his bag off and sat down on the blanket "a sunset picnic. i thought it would be cool.. i guess.."

he said, a little red in the face. your jaw dropped "seriously??" he nodded then grabbed the picnic basket and placed it in the middle.

you sat down and opened the picnic basket. it showed some juice boxes, chocolate, and two boxes. you grabbed on of the boxes and carefully placed it on the blanket.

you got the other box and placed it beside the other box. you opened the first one you grabbed and it showed a bunch of sliced bananas coated in nutella, and wrapped in crepes with sliced strawberries on top.

it looked like a very sweet sushi.

"oh my god, that looks so good" you muttered to yourself then opened the other box. it showed two mini strawberry cakes with two plastic forks at the side.

you grinned then placed the picnic basket at the side. you held up the box with the strawberry cakes and gave a fork to kunimi while you got the other one.

you and him both enjoyed the cake while making conversation. time passed and you finished the cakes, the sweet sushi, some chocolates and are now drinking the juice boxes.

you then looked in front of you to see a beautiful sunset coming together and you gasped and got out your phone.

the lazy boy turned to you and saw you taking pictures of the sunset while your juice box was propped on your knee with the straw in your mouth.

he rose a brow but shook his head fondly. "kunimi! look how pretty it is" you said while pointing your camera at the sunset.

he stared at you for a moment before saying:

"turn the camera around and it will be prettier"

shirabu kenjiro

"y/n-chan~ any song suggestions?" tendou questioned you while waving around his phone. you walked over to him "i do! can i use your spotify, senpai?"

he nodded and handed you his phone. you searched up your playlist and after a few scrolling, you found it. "i made this playlist for all of us to listen to while doing dumb shit"

semi laughed a little "woah, watch your language there" you pouted and gave him a stink eye. he rolled his eyes.

the whole shiratorizawa boys volleyball club are our tonight. hanging around an abandoned playground deciding to just fool around. ushijima brought a volleyball, semi, shirabu, and you brought snacks while tendou brought a speaker

the others where just making idle conversation while some where playing with the rusty swing set. your playlist playing in the background softly, not too loud to wake up the people sleeping but, not soft enough to the point you wont be able to hear it.

tendou was playing around with the swing while playfully singing along to the lyrics of the song. semi sat on the other swing while bopping his head to the song.

the others were sitting on the ground, playing some never have i ever. shirabu was at the top of the slide while staring at the stars. you decided to join him.

you climbed up the ladder leading to the slide and sat beside him. he flinched a little but relaxed when he realized it was just you "oh, hey y/n-san"

you smiled "kenjiro-san" you nodded "what are you doing here all alone? don't tell me you're being a tsundere right now" you teased lightly.

he huffed "no, im just stargazing, i guess" you rose a brow "you guess? or is there something on your mind?" he hummed but didn't say anything.

you didn't pry any further and just joined him in stargazing. you glanced at him a few times but it looked like his head was in the clouds. you wonder what he's thinking about.

"i can feel you glance at me. what? don't you have a phone? you could just snap a picture and stare at that instead" he said, giving a teasing smirk.

you blushed and looked back at the stars. oops, you've been caught. "shut it tsundere" he was really smug "mhm, ok" was his only response.

"hey, you two, get down here. we're gonna play some truth or dare" semi said while looking at you two. you nodded "yes sir.." you slid down the slide and shirabu did the same.

you both sat down on the ground near the group. "ok, me first!~ ushiwaka, truth or dare?" tendou said looking at the captain. the green haired boy blinked and said "truth"

tendou pouted "no fun, oh well, next time. anyways, do you like anyone at school?" he grinned. "like? i like l/n-san. she is very good at managing us. i also like everyone in the volleyball club. you're all good at this sport" was his answer.

tendou grumbled. obviously the dense captain didn't understand the actual meaning of the red head and that annoyed the middle blocker.

semi chuckled "should have made it more specific tendou" "shush, semi-semi. it's your turn ushiwaka"

"okay. semi-san, truth or dare?" "dare" semi responded immediately. you rose a brow "feeling bold semi-san?" said boy shrugged "it's the captain. it won't be anything embarrassing"

you nodded in understanding. "i dare you to sing for us. i heard you sing before, it sounds melodic" ushijima dared semi.

"huh?- oh, uhm. sure" semi didn't expect the compliment from their captain but did the dare.

(im not shipping them- im sorry if i made it seem like i implied that but im not- im just having a difficult time writing what i think ushijima would say. im not used to writing about these type of characters)

he sang along with whatever was playing on the playlist while all of you listened. when it was done you all clapped "you have a good voice semi-semi" tendou complimented.

semi nodded "thanks" "i never knew you could sing semi-san" shirabu said. said boy shrugged "i don't really flaunt it or anything so.." he trailed off.

"anyways, my turn. y/n-san, truth or dare?" you hummed "truth" "ok, uhm. what's on your bucket list?" semi asked, a little curious.

you blinked "well... i guess i wanna travel the world. uhm, get married someday, swim with dolphins... and get-" you got cut off when you felt a raindrop land on your nose.

the others put their hand out only to feel small raindrops dropping on it. "oh it's raining" goshiki said. "looks like we'll have to cut this short. do you guys have umbrella's?"

semi asked while standing up, the others following. "i do" ushijima said while bringing his umbrella out and opening it. "my house is nearby, i can just run" tendou said while putting the hood of his hoodie up.

"mine's close too! ill go with tendou-senpai" goshiki said. semi turned to you and shirabu "i have my own umbrella, how about you two?"

"i have an umbrella. me and kenjiro-san can share since we live close to each other" you said while pulling shirabu under the slide for cover since you have to find the umbrella in your bag.

semi nodded "alright, how about you guys?" he turned to the others while some said they could just run and the other half said they had umbrella's

he nodded "ok, see you guys on monday. stay safe" semi said while pulling out his umbrella and opening it. everyone said their goodbye's and goodnight's while leaving.

you were rummaging around your bag while shirabu stood in front of you to block you from getting wet. "so.. what was the last part on your bucket list?" the boy asked nervously.

you pulled out your umbrella and looked up at him "oh, i always wanted to kiss in the rain, it's kind of romantic" you giggled bashfully and looked down.

"how about you? what's on your bucket list?" you asked him. he stayed silent for a while before pulling you into the rain "wha-" you were about to vocalize your surprise before you get cut off by a pair of lips meeting yours.

your eyes widened but they softened when you felt his warm hands on your waist and cheek. you dropped your umbrella and wrapped your arms around his neck and kissed him back.

hi dear friends, i've been itching to make some moodboards and thought this would be such a sweet theme! read the instructions below and ask away!

rules: one moodboard per person (for now) so please be off anon (or stay anon but dm me what you requested - otherwise i'll delete the ask). i'd also appreciate if you gave me a follow if you request smth 🥰 fandoms: haikyuu, diamond no ace, attack on titan, hunter x hunter, jujutsu kaisen, my hero academia, tokyo revengers, chainsaw man, shokugeki no souma, demon slayer step one. give me either your self-ship or one character to make the moodboard for. if it's a character, i'll likely get a manga image of them and change colour accordingly, and if it's a self-ship, likely a generic couple picture lmao (or if you have art that would match feel free to dm it but no guarantee i'll use it if i can't fit it in the theme) step two. choose your top three desserts - i will only be doing one moodboard per dessert (first come first serve - but can do the same character multiple times) so if your top choice is taken, i'll go to the next one, etc. feel free to specify a flavour, otherwise i'll make my own choice (ex: if you say cake, i'm gonna choose a specific type like birthday cake) step three. bon appetit! enjoy your dessert 🍧💖
