Raskolnikov is the realest main character to ever walk this earth because he‘s a broke college student who lays in his bed all day thinking about going outside, and then when he does he derealizes, decides that everything sucks, and gets so tired that he imidietly passes out after having to so much as see other people. Mans was representing all of academia unknowingly.
if i’m going to live with Raskolnikov-level ennui, paranoia, and indecision, i could at least have a best friend who’d beat up his relative defending me for a crime i absolutely committed.
i feel like dostoevsky’s comedic genius should be acknowledged more often, the brothers karamazov is genuinely one of the funniest book i ever read (mitia’s dramatic ass cracks me up so much)
