this one was started as a "wouldn't it be fucked if" type au because @myhamartiaishubris wrote an au where YSS is the only one who lives. I currently have exactly two lines written for this and probably won't write more for a while at least so enjoy!

so this one is another JoL post-canon fixit-ish au. I have nothing actually written for this au beyond the ask that spawned it here, but if you don't want to read all that, here's the basic rundown: Shen-xiaojie fakes her death during the "betrayal" where yby stabs fx. She runs off and meets Grandma Fan and becomes a confident woman. Meanwhile, yby drags fx to the Teng Family Farm, where it's revealed that Teng Zijing was *also* faking his death (again).

I really want to know what “Time travel shenanigans Eye edition” is 👀👀👀
Hi!
So, first I must explain the "Eye edition". It just so happens that I love time travel shenanigans and not happy with writing several fics for the time travel shenanigans show itself (Doctor Who), I decided to go and add the this element to other fandoms. So this one is my The Magnus Archives time travel shenanigans fic.
In it, instead of following Martin's plan at the end of s5, Jon makes a deal with the Web (for spoilery reasons) and goes back in time to season 1 to try and "fix" everything. My plan is that this is just a short story with Jon and Elias as begrudging allies, and *drum roll please*... Some Jonsasha fluff!! Because the world needs more Jonsasha 😊

⏰ Do you spend more time reading fic, writing fic, or do you do both equally?
I do both a fair deal, though not always at the same time. If I'm really absorbed in a WIP (and especially if a WIP is giving me trouble), sometimes I have to take a break from reading so my brain can keep wrestling with its own language. But I'm also very inspired and motivated by reading other writers and reflecting on the challenges they take on in their stories and the discoveries they make, so I will go through periods where I'm reading more than I'm writing as well.
💻 Do you do research for your fics? What’s the deepest dive you’ve done?
I almost always end up doing at least a little research, yes! Since I started writing for Star Wars, I am constantly looking up little things, like the in-universe equivalents for various raw materials or herbs or animals (though sometimes the answer is too goofy to actually use: I'm looking at you, "bladder flies"). And I've probably done the most research for the small handful of modern AUs I've written, especially for "Citation Needed," the MCU professor AU that I co-wrote with @festiveferret, which included some very fun deep dives into WWII archives.

1. Are you named after anyone?
yes! an insanely talented woman who could recite pages of text from memory
2. When was the last time you cried?
several hours ago when i watched the latest episode of Shogun. hiromatsu, you're a real one.
3. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
less now, simply because i use sarcasm when i feel insecure but now i recognize it happening. that's how i use it but other people use it humorously, wittily etc
4. What's the first thing you notice about people?
how they occupy space. that usually means how confident they stand, look, walk etc. but it's a 50/50 on whether my impression is accurate. the habit started as a way to quickly categorize people as safe or unsafe so it's instinctive but i am learning to not do that
5. What's your eye colour?

6. Scary movie or happy ending?
happy ending even if the other option wasn't a scary movie!
7. What are your hobbies?
writing ff, taking walks while listening to music, and photographing nature on my phone

no but i love my bestie's two cats. miss you T&F

in elementary school i was very good at hockey. my brother used me as his goalie so i learned the hard way. in middle school my parents took me out of all extra curriculars that weren't academics so i stopped playing structured sports.
i really want to start biking as an adult but my thighs and lungs tire embarrassingly fast that i feel awk trying knowing i'll be lugging my bike around when i tire out. but i'm v into the idea. i also want to get better at swimming in the deep end.

math! i had a good teacher. i don't remember a single thing now and rely on my calculator for basic arithmetic but i still remember how awesome that guy was. miss you, Mr. H

29. Favorite line/passage you wrote this year?
i have 2 answers for this.
one is in the one where porsche and kim are gym buddies (link to chapter 1) when kim and porsche are arguing and chay is like THREE GOATS. it made me have a sensible laugh while writing it
the other one is in but you're everywhere (yes you are) (link to chapter 1, but this bit is from chapter 3) when kinn is thinking about marble statues and porsche:
Everywhere they’d gone, there had been rooms and rooms full of marble sculptures that had captivated Kinn. How had someone managed to carve life into stone?
His fingers had itched to reach out, to settle on those harsh curves and to trace their lines, map them with his hands so that he might imagine what it would be like to touch a warm body.
The Vatican might not have appreciated it and he’d held himself back, but he still thought about those statues from time to time. His fingers still longed to touch.
They did touch, rather.
Porsche was far more appealing than any of the statues that had ever piqued Kinn’s interest.
His body put the work of masters to shame. Instead of the cold white marble left behind once all of the paint had worn off, Porsche was warm and full of life. Underneath soft skin, there are arteries and veins, tendons, and muscle, all of them working in concert to create the perfection under Kinn’s hands.

Resident lurker and fan of your version of Cassian’s backstory (and shameless fan of the Andor version too lol) stealing in to say it’s not petty at all! I read your fic for the first time a few weeks ago, and I loved how you wove in Alderaanian!Cassian into the horror of Alderaan being destroyed while Cassian is on the Death Star.

Seriously speaking, part of the reason I'm persnickety about this is because I do think that ad astra would be a poorer story without that aspect of it. And I did get "well actually he's from Fest because blahblah in the novelization" comments, as I always get when I presume to fill the spaces in the films in with ideas different from the novelizations/TV shows/Lucasfilm employee Twitter takes/whatever.
The story (like other stories) would have been worse and less enjoyable to write if I'd caved in to any of that, so I do tend to be pretty hostile to—not to the existence of things like the TV shows, necessarily, but the fandom pressure to adhere to all the extra franchise stuff, whether we want to or not. Younger fans in particular seem to often feel that pressure very intensely, and I don't think that pressure is good, even when the new product is good.
Regardless of age, I see a lot of "I liked imagining things differently, before X came out." And I genuinely think it's a pity that so many people feel like they can't just keep doing their thing, mostly because the rest of fandom won't let them do it in peace. So that's part of where the original post was coming from—after all the "well, in the novelization" comments on my fics, it's been pretty surreal to see the debates between the backstories.

a few weeks ago when i was talking about a relative that recently passed away 😔

yes A LOT, if i ever sound harsh that's probably why

i never played any sports seriously and i actively dislike sports where you go up against an opponent. but I do cycle about 20km every day and like to swim

uh ... their clothing? also if they're good at small talk, too (which isn't a reflection on the person or a requirement, but I do enjoy good small talk tbh)

i would pick scary movies, but not necessarily straight up horror movies.
