✷ ITOSHI RIN x reader. fluff, established relationship. reader talks a lot and rin listens. this is actually pointless. warnings: the writing is kinda messy, i think. note: i just really think that rin <3 ! sorry if there's typos.

"shut up."

rin probably says these two words to you more than he says 'i love you'.

yet, he really, really does not want you to shut up.

it's been twenty minutes since you came from your dinner with your friend. twenty whole minutes of you rambling. twenty whole minutes of rin lying in bed, his arms feeling empty since you're too busy turned away from him as you change into more comfortable clothes. twenty whole minutes of him having to listen to your friend's husband's family's problems while his eyes stay locked on you as you throw on one of his shirts and then start removing your make up.

and again, he really, really does not want you to shut up.

but he would really prefer holding you while you ramble, and the fact that it's been twenty minutes and he hasn't even gotten a kiss yet is kind of starting to get to him.

"so anyway, she's basically hated by everyone from his side of the family— and i told her over and over that she should talk to him about it, but she just won't listen to me. god, why am i blessed with such stubborn friends?"

at this point, he feels like he's skipped eight chapters.

and yet he still listens, humming thoughtfully as he shifts in bed a little, pulling the covers over him just a bit more as he sighs in defeat, staring up at the ceiling as he mumbles, giving his own opinion. "shouldn't pressure her into it, though."

you groan, giving him a look as you still stand in front of the mirror while doing your skincare now. "i'm not, i swear! those people suck. she shouldn't be letting them do what they want and i'm sure that her husband would do something if he knew how salty they are."

his eyes go from the ceiling to you, blinking sleepily as he stares at the way his shirt looks on you. "when are you coming to bed?"

"almost done, rinnie."

he yawns quietly, turning around so that his back is to you. if he couldn't hold you yet, he could at least listen to your voice. "then does she really plan to just endure that treatment?" his voice is muffled by the pillow as he asks, setting you off on another talking spree.

"i guess she does. i hope everything goes well for her. but personally, i would not tolerate stuff like that." you say, shrugging as you finally finish your business, before going into the bathroom to wash your hands and brush your teeth.

the few minutes of you being gone and quiet make rin feel as miserable as ever.

he waits and waits, eyelids heavy.

when the mattress finally dips next to him and he smells the familiar scent of your skin products, he swears he's never moved this fast to turn around in bed and latch onto you.

you chuckle as he buries his face into your neck, holding him close as your little giggle turns into a quiet laugh when he groans in annoyance. "you took too damn long."

his hair tickles the side of your face. it's getting longer, you realise as you play with it gently, smoothing over some soft strands on the back of his head while he sighs softly into your skin.

"i talked a lot earlier, didn't i?" you ask quietly, your lips curling into a sheepish smile.

rin stays quiet for some time, his arms around you tight and firm as he presses himself against your side, even going as far as to place his muscular leg over you, caging you in against the soft mattress of the bed. "y'know i don't mind that."

"yeah, but im sure there's a limit—"

"there's no limit when it comes to you. 'kay?" he says quietly, his voice groggy and deeper now as he gets closer to drifting off— almost as if he was ending that discussion right there, not wanting to hear you talking about yourself in such a way.

"yeah, but—"

"shut up." he cuts you off, and you stop talking, only to let out another soft laugh. "if you're gonna complain about yourself, that is. now, more sleeping and less talking. i'll listen to the remaining part of your friend's story during breakfast tomorrow."

you snort at his devotion to listening to your silly stories, a slight wave of warmth creeping up your neck. "fine."

he nods a little, before holding you tighter.

"and i didn't get a single kiss from you ever since you came, by the way."

"oh, i am so sorry. my most sincere apologies." you speak, clearly joking as you shower him with light pecks on the side of his face that's peeking out from the crook of your neck.

he grunts, not being able to hide the redness under his warm skin as he feels your soft lips. his eyes stay closed shut. "ok. good night."

"no 'i love you' or anything?"

he sighs heavily. "shut up."

"...and i love you." he adds, before letting himself relax into his sleep when you let out a satisfied sound and say it back to him sweetly, your soft voice partially responsible for putting him to sleep.

it's been well over a year into your relationship with rin itoshi.

and at this juncture, you could say that he's opened up to you about nearly everything. it took time, and you were as patient as ever in his eyes. he showed you everything about himself: the good, the bad, what he wants to be, and who he used to be. you can't be fooled by his grumpy persona and harsh body language, not when he finally bared his whole raw heart for you to hold and love. you two knew practically everything about each other.

which might be why you noticed rin slowly picking up some of his old habits from childhood.

for instance, he'd wake you up sometimes from your summer midday naps to offer going out and buying some popsicles from a convenience store nearby to battle the afternoon heat. despite your lazy protests, you'd drag your feet and go with him. and you'd watch as his teal eyes carefully scan the selection of icy treats inside the freezer despite knowing he'd always grab the blue twin pops.

another is when he'd take you to aquariums for dates more often. he once told you in passing that his brother used to love taking him to aquariums when they both couldn't sit and overlook the beach. and now because of how frequently you two have dates there, you two are practically regarded as regulars by the employees (they've joked to rin once about how he should propose to you in one of their scenic spots in the future; rin choked on the water he was drinking).

but the most prominent one is how rin would have this mindless habit of asking permission for the most no-brainer, useless, and quite frankly, idiotically endearing things.

you didn't question it at first. they were honestly all reasonable things to ask from someone who's in a relationship for the first time. albeit he was extremely awkward the first few times around, with him struggling to get the words out, you eventually got used to his small requests and questions.

a small "may i come in?" after every time he knocks on your door whenever he's over at your place.

a shy offer of "do you want me to brush your hair?" when he notices you dozing off a bit after a fresh evening shower.

even a "is it alright if i stay out late with the team?" text once every blue moon whenever he's dragged to their shenanigans (completely against his will).

rin may be struggling with socializing and understanding others' social cues well enough, but mama itoshi didn't raise a disrespectful boy.

you really haven't paid much attention to this habit of his until his birthday.

"i... i can do anything with you..?" rin questions, almost in disbelief. nodding, you parrot his words back, "yep! it's your special day today, so everything's your call!"

"anything...?" he asks again. and like earlier, you nod once more.

there was a beat of silence that accompanied the shocked look rin gave you.

"obviously, everything within reason..!" you cough nervously, afraid rin might've gotten the wrong idea or got too pressured by your supposed surprise, "we also don't have to go out or anything... like i said, whatever you-"

"can... we hold hands...?"

you stop your frantic rambling when your mind processed his words. your gaze is directly at him, but he's staring at the ground like he finally discovered something groundbreaking. the way he spoke sounded as if he was in utter disbelief. it was like if his crush told him that they liked him back, or like he was told that he won the grand prize of something big.

which is confusing.

"y-yes we can?" you quirk one of your brows with a rather unsure smile, "we often hold our hands together, rinnie. we even interlock fingers."

your boyfriend still has that dumb surprised look casted on the wooden floor, "oh.. yeah..."

you were about to question the tone of his voice when he perks up so suddenly and goes on a tangent,

"can we wear matching scarfs when we go out, then? it's practical for the temperature. can we use the one you bought us... that one with the sanrio dog you said reminded you of me because of soccer— pochacco?"

he sits upright and looks up at you with eyes filled with so much anticipation that you can't bear to look away, "we can wear that, right?"

you nod again, "yes rinnie, we can wear that out. like you said, it's cold anyways-"

your excited boyfriend cuts you off once more, like an overly excited child, "if it's cold, can we cuddle? oh, maybe we can also get a mini cake from the bakery nearby? or better yet a parfait— can we share? i don't like overly sweet food..." he gasps softly, like he's struck with the most genius idea, and looks up at you once more for permission.

"can i kiss you..? but.. like, a lot-"

you finally squish his cheeks to stop his mouth from blabbering more and more words that make you both want to squeal at his cuteness and shake him like a dog does with a chew toy because of how annoyingly stupidly adorable he is.

"rin itoshi." the man sits straight at the use of his full name. "i love you with all my heart but oh my god if you ask permission from me for yet another stupid thing i might kiss you and or muffle you with the couch pillow." as if for good measure that your point gets across, you flick rin's forehead softly.

"you know that you're free to spoil yourself, match anything with me, and indulge in any form of affection you're comfortable with." you leave a soft kiss on his cheek, which elicits a gasp from your boyfriend.

"so no more of these useless questions, okay?"

rin nods three times, still looking at you with all the love in the world. your black cat of a boyfriend has magically morphed into this puppy of a man, you can practically envision his imaginary tail wagging from excitement. but you don't mind this side of rin—the side of his that allows his inner emotions, his inner youth run free. if anything, it's a testament to how much he's grown comfortable with you.

your lips form a small smile, your eyes reflect all your love back at him.

just as you were about to change the topic, you catch his teal eyes drift to your lips, back up to your eyes, then down to the floor.

three seconds pass.

"can we-" "you just want the kiss on the lips, don't you?"

if it results in more opportunities for kisses, then yes, he doesn't mind asking all these stupid nonsensical questions.

i apologize if the way i’m about to describe it sounds like a wattpad fic but anyways i was hanging around skz and lino was chilling a few feet away from the group so i sought him out specifically to see what he was up to and he just started staring at me so deeply with this piercing yet soft gaze it was so . mesmerizing? couldn’t help but stare back at him and especially looking at his lips that were glossy n cherry red i felt like i was going mad!! there was this overwhelming kindhearted, gentle (?) energy from him and he looked so cute with those doe eyes looking at me expectantly like 🥺 cause at that point i just walked up to him and literally said nothing lmfao

Enstars x Genshin au? Nah. How about

Enstars x Honkai: Star Rail au

I’ve just got rambles cause yeah I wanted to draw the designs but adhd brain hit like a freight train “oh I wanna draw this design” “n o.”

Anyways yeah just just rambles

How I’ll do this is “Enstars character takes Star Rail characters General role, however I’ll give them wiggle room and they keep their personalities, maybe even tweak their backstories”

So generally ALKALOID takes the Nameless/Trailblazers roles,

Hiiro takes Dan Heng’s role, however he’s not exiled for a past life’s actions, rather he “ran” from home and joined the Trailblazers to find his oldest brother (Rinne, who doesn’t technically take a role, I mean right now you could say in a way he takes a combo of Bailu’s and Dan Heng’s as well if you really want but yeah he’s pretty much role-less, free from the binds of the story) who was supposed to be the next Vidyadhara High Elder but ran away across the galaxy for unknown reasons

Also I say “Oldest brother” because I know in canon Rinne is Hiiro’s only brother, but in this au I’m gonna do a funny thing and make Luka be their middle child brother in the au because come on look at them, which means (besides NPC’s) he’s gonna be one of the few un-booted-out-for-Enstars-characters-to-steal their-lives-characters who just vibe for an epic crossover

Also yes this means Vidyadhara Rinnie, Luka And Hiiro

Or Luka is just adopted-💥

Then there’s going to be Mayoi as the MC, well, technically, he doesn’t take the Protagonist role in this au, Hiiro does still, So like. Imagine if Dan Heng was the protagonist/MC of H:SR instead like does that make sense?

I also think Mayoi would die if he was given the Main Protagonist role- Anyways why am I giving him a side protagonist version of Caelus/Stelle? Well one: he was my first favorite in Enstars, ever, and two: anxious wall gremlin is a very good stand in for feral raccoon (wo)man

And yes this means he’s now an artificial human with a stellaron inside him and could explode at any second

I also had the idea of Aria as March 7th, I…Don’t have anything for that except how they just make me think of the other, so that’s not really in stone

And Akiomi as Welt, just cause why not

Madara and Kohaku take Clara and Svarog‘s roles, (Madara Svarog and Kohaku Clara to get specific)

Kohaku taking Clara’s role if she had a big fucking gun/hj

For this au instead of Kohaku being a shy little orphan like Clara, he’s just a random teen that ran away, found Madara and they ended up as friends somehow, but technically Kohaku is in Clara’s role here, like just

“Yeah I found this big fucking motorcycle transformer cowboy thing and it’s my mom friend now”

Also I’m changing the type of Robot Madara is, instead of being the giant robot Svarog originally is, he’s now a transformer that turns into a motorcycle, because why the fuck not, it doesn’t matter as long as he has Svarog’s capabilities as well

HiMERU takes Tingyun’s role (starts slowly descending away, evil cackling in knowing both Enstars and Star Rail lore as I refuse to elaborate, but if you play both games like me we can evil laugh/cry together :))

Jin takes Jing Yuan’s role, why? *drops a second infodump*

It’s literally perfect to me, first of all, they’re both eepy old men who have the :3/=w= faces

Also I say “Old” but if Jing Yuan aged normally and wasn’t immortal he’d probably be like 40’s and Jin is 30’s, and I don’t think that’s actually old I just say old cause they both call themselves old at at least some point and the entire fandom and their mothers call Jing Yuan old/hj

They’ve also got a few similarities:

They both took paths their parents didn’t want them to (Jing Yuan being with the Cloud Knights when his parents wished for him to inherit the mantle of a scholar or official at the Realm-Keeping Commission and Jin being an Idol, when his parents wanted him to be a Doctor),

-They both lost one’s close to them (Jing Yuan losing his mentor (who is still alive but eehhhshshs he technically lost her-) and old friendships, Jin meanwhile lost his whole ass older brother)

-Both seem lazy but whenever it’s the right situation (For Jing Yuan it’s literally any situation where he’d absolutely need to take action, for Jin it’s his students in danger) Shit gets real

Also I just really want a situation where he’s constantly sleeping on the desk while Mayoi, Aria* and Akiomi* are just staring at him like “:/ are you sure this is the real general??? Are you sure this isn’t just a random lost guy?????” Maybe even finding him sleeping while standing up in hologram form

(*swaps aren’t in stone but what I’m going with rn)

Anyway, I've done a couple of these before, but this one's rules is very specifically:

So, uh, this should be interesting because fun fact about me, I rewrite the same stuff over and over again.

🔥TBW: Mama Cass normally prided herself on her composure.

🥃LGO: In all honesty, Rinnie was too drunk to remember who hit the bed first.

👩‍🦰RA: “Where are we?” Taryn asked.

🎻ROTG: A Temple of Adelus wasn’t her favorite place for a gig, but considering Em was avoiding Seamus Finn establishments, she’d take what she could get.

💥SB: The wind on Berthingtonn’s eastern docks always seemed to blow far more strongly than it did on the west side.

♟TGG: “Eileen,” Aravae said, trying to put enough warning into her tone that Eileen would get the message, but not so much warning that Finley would pick up on it.

💨WH: “Wind’s howling,” Teagan mutters in her best Geralt impression.

❄CTQ: Two women walked along the busy evening streets of Himmelmauer, their course pointed towards the castle.

🍲AEB: First there is chaos, and then there is cold.

Okay, that actually wasn't too hard to track down all things considered. I feel like elaborating with more stats, so I'll do that under the cut.

But first, I'll tag: @sentfromwolves, @tananaphone, @legiomiam, @mjjune, and @muddshadow (no pressure, anyone!)

The Brewing War: aka Book 1, it's up at the top of the list (most recent) because it's been in steady revisions of it since April. That first line? Totally new.

Lights Go Out: is a character study of Rinnie, Aravae, and Ciara and I was writing it separately from TBW because that content does not actually belong on the pages of TBW, but it's up there because I wrote it in June.

Redheads Abound: is a AU fanfiction essentially combining my characters with characters from 3 others writeblrs on here. Wrote that back in April.

Relic of the Gods: aka ViolinHeist, happens in the same universe as TBW but is not a prequel. It got a few revisions in April, but after rewriting the first three chapters of Draft 3, I set it down to let other stuff percolate in the back of my head.

Siege of Berthingtonn: aka Book 2 got some edits back in March, though that first line is older.

The Great Game: aka Book 4 where I've done bits and pieces of that so that's the first line I've written but it's definitely not Chapter 1 or a prologue even. That was back in March.

Wind's Howling: is a flashfic I wrote back in February. Experimenting with present tense.

Cure for the Queen: aka Book 3. It got finished back in March of 2022. April-August was ROTG Draft 1, August-October was then SB Draft 8, November-February was ROTG again which explains the break and reemphasizes that I just write the same things over and over again.

Soup 2 Another Electric Boogaloo: was something I was working on back in October of 2021 (in between working on CTQ). It was fanfiction of fanfiction and I wrote it primarily while still working at GameStop because I could just write it on my phone.

Team W Shenanigans: was also something I was working on back in the Fall of 2021, same time as AEB. It was fanfiction that Rinnie was also involved in.

if we’re talking from a purely aesthetic standpoint (yep TOTALLY just that. nothing else whatsoever swayed my decision on this matter teehee) my date for my uni ball would have to be one one of the itoshis and here’s why!!!!!! i put thought into this okay. my ball fit was this fantastic, obnoxiously green colored two piece suit that you bet ur ass i pulled off SPECTACULARLY yes i’m gonna be shamelessly hyping myself bc im very sexc. since the suit jacket had a pluuuuunging neckline, i just paired it with a skimpy neon green bralette underneath ( scandalous ) and some sleek, black leather platform boots that i somehow managed to dance in the entire night i was very impressed with myself actually 😎 but see this is perfect bc rin has green hair!!!!! (lmfao someone put me down right now) i feel like it would work. we would deffo match in a low key, subtle way. but honestly i’d hate to put my poor baby through that i just know rinnie’s antisocial ass would abhor the entire evening </333 he’d just stay back on his phone at the dinner table and do an occasional death glare when i’d point him out to people trying to come onto me on the dance floor what a babe. sae on the other hand 👀👀 bestie i am already SWEATING he picked up a few things from being dragged clubbing by his teammates in spain okay man knows how to dance and i will die on this hill. aesthetic-wise, we’d also be matching in a more subtle way, mostly our hair (since i dyed it red a couple months ago, even tho he’s canonically more.. mauve, but if you squint it works alright) plus i also went extra with my makeup and did a bunch of fancy stuff on my face with red eyeliner hehe <3 but sae would be a fantastic dance partner he’d get a little carefree and indulge in twirling me around, going down low (letting me grind my ass on his crotch PLSSSS i will pass out)

if we’re talking dates who would just be an absolute blast to go with i mean come on who could top shidou mf ryusei he’s so insane exactly what you need to spice up your night. i’d be like “hmm this wine isn’t really as bottomless as they promised should i get a tequila shot from the bar?” and he’d just grin like the bastard he is and say “only one? coward get three” he is actually the worst but drunk shenanigans with him yes pls absolutely. there’s like a 90% chance the staff would kick us out bc they found us basically on the verge of fucking in the bathroom but asskdhbebekd he’s a horndog it was to be expected. i feel like it would also be so hilarious to bring reo to one of these university balls bc yeah it’s still like— a formal event and stuff but absolutely nowhere near close to the posh charity balls he’s used to from his upbringing. you bring him as your date and he’s like “wait wdym you don’t have to do any networking???” he’d be so floored i’m crying. he’s a Pretty Intense Guy with An Image To Uphold so he’s never really had a chance to.. let loose and have fun like this? you’d kinda have to take initiative but he’d be so into it after a while (with the help of a little alcohol lol). he’d be like “this chicken is so fucking under seasoned” and you’d just nod your head “yeah babe it’s a university ball the budget is like 20 dollars what did you except” and he’d just go “amazing” and eat the whole thing he’s so precious i’m in love with him. the best worse dancer you’ve ever seen too but he’d be so giggly about it so it’s forgiven sigh what a king 🥹🥹🥹🥹

FIRST ANNIVERSARY

It's been two years since you've joined the precinct. One year since you and Jungkook stared dating and 3 months since you've started living together.

The two of you had an exhausting day. An arrest, an interrogation, another arrest and a total of three meetings later, the two of you were finally back home. You collapsed onto the couch in sync, still dressed in your white shirt and black pants, the unofficial uniform of your department.

Jungkook wrapped an arm around your shoulder, his head titled as he rested it on top of yours. 

“So much for the anniversary plans.” He mumbled.

“What anniversary plans?” You asked, eyes closed, your body slouching as it felt like you were being swallowed by the couch.

“I don't know. Maybe go out for dinner, catch a movie, have sex.”

“We do that every other day. Can't say it's really special.”

“That's a good point.” he agreed with a chuckle.

You opened your eyes and took a moment to reflect. You were currently on the couch with the man you love (who was now closing his eyes. And something about that made him look so innocent and angelic it honestly melted your heart) after a long day of being productive and making the world a slightly better place to live in. And honestly, you couldn't think of a better way to spend your time. Being embraced and spending time with your boyfriend after coming back from a job you both loved.

“You know, this isn't that bad.” you said, turning your head to face him. 

Jungkook smiled too, somehow (although not surprising) thinking what you were thinking.

He leaned forward and gave you a quick kiss before pulling you closer to him.

“Not bad at all.”

 FIRST AND LAST PROPOSAL

It's been six years. You were no longer a detective of the precinct you used to work in. Everyone had gone their separate ways.

Namjoon just climbed the ladder higher and higher until he was almost at the top. A series of near death experiences caused him to temporarily resign.

Suga and Hobi were still cops, each a head their own units.

Jimin was now a professor, teaching future would be detectives.

Jin took a break as well, opening up a small restaurant.

Taehyung was still a detective but also a professional saxophone player on the side. Because that’s something only Tae would do.

Jungkook was now higher up on the ladder as well, often hired to be a personal bodyguard for politicians and celebrities as well as a trainer for incoming cops.

You were now a chief, running a division of over 20 people. You were also working alongside a number of psychologist to create a database of criminal intent.

It's been 5 years since you and Jungkook got together and nothing has changed yet everything has changed.

Your relationship grew stronger and stronger as time went by. You’ve had countless number of arguments, several full blown fights and a ‘break up’ for three whole days before the two of you realized you couldn't live without each other and immediately made up.

You met his family and they loved you, already calling you their daughter.

He met your family and they loved him. Especially your mom who wouldn't stop telling you to marry him as soon as possible.

Just like she was now.

You rolled your eyes as your mom started rambling about marriage through the laptop screen.

“Don't roll your eyes at me young lady, I'm being serious here!”

You giggled, “I know mom.”

“I'm not going to be here forever sweet pea,” your mom said, “I want to see my grandchildren before I pass.”

You sighed, trying to hide your smile. Your mom had been using that excuse ever since you turned 20.

Just then Jungkook walked in, carrying a box of items into the living room where you were. The two of you bought a second house (including the apartment that you used to live in, this was the third home you've shared) together and were finally moving in.As of now, it was just an empty room filled with boxes and one dining table with two chairs, but you were still excited to start a new home with Jungkook.

“Mom, if it's taking me this long to get married, how long do you think it will take for you to have grandkids?”

Your mother groaned through the screen and you heard Jungkook stifling a laugh.

“I have to go mom, lots of unpacking to do.”

“You're already living with the man, why don't you just get hitched?”

“Bye mom.”

You turned off the video call as you and Jungkook both started to laugh.

After the two of you calmed down, you got off the floor to help with the unpacking.

Awhile later, after setting down all the boxes, you were sitting on the dining room chair browsing through your phone when Jungkook walked up behind you and wrapped his arms around your shoulder. You smiled as chin rested on your head comfortably. It’s been years, but sometimes these small domestic moments still warm your heart.

“Have you ever thought about it?” He suddenly asked.

“About what?”

“Getting married.”

You paused for a second, before replying, “To you?”

“I should hope so.” he said and you could hear his frown.

You chuckled and raised your hand to ruffle his hair, “Of course I have. Mostly because Mom won't let me forget about it.”

Jungkook laughed and you could feel the rumbling through the back of your head.

“So what do you think about getting married to me.” he asked.

A second passed, the words sinking in before you raised your head, looking upwards at a Jungkook, who to you, was upside down.

“Are you proposing to me?”

He shook his head. “Not right now, I don't have a ring. But maybe soon.”

A huge grin spread across your face, you couldn't help it.

“I'd like that.” You said.

“Really?”

“Of course. Introducing you as my boyfriend after so many years feels a bit weird to me now.”

“So you think husband sounds better?”

“Much better.”

Jungkook grinned that smile that you loved so much as he placed a kiss on your forehead.

“Mr. And Mrs. Jeon. Has a nice ring to it.” He said.

You smiled before saying, “you better start thinking about baby names that go with it because I promise you, the day after we get married my Mother start bugging us to have kids.”

“Oh shit.”
