I have to tell you I love the RTC verse a lot! Thank you so much for writing it, it’s honestly so cool how long you’ve written it for like 👏👏👏👏I’ve been rereading parts of it and I was wondering if you think you’ll ever write the world finding out about Steve and Loki? I’m so curious how that would go 🤔💛✨
thank you, anon! I'm not really writing for the MCU these days, so it's unlikely that I'll write more in that particular verse (though who knows, I have a deep and abiding soft spot for it as a thing, so never say never or whatever).
as far as the world finding out about Steve/Loki... I didn't remember what exactly I had General Ross release as far as footage of Loki and Steve interacting at the end of Collapse the Light Into Earth (the footage he used to prove that he knew about Loki and Bucky being with the Avengers), and it looks like I left it somewhat vague where the officially released footage ends (pre or post-hug).
but I bet in the universe of Remember This Cold the footage of that hug specifically is out there somewhere for someone to unearth. possibly on dark corners of the internet it has already begotten a small squad of Steve/Loki truthers. there could be a subreddit already
Generation Loss is a comedic tragedy in every sense of the word. Every character we see exemplifies this fact, but no one other than The Austin Show proves its truth.
We begin at the carousel. Austin, Gay, takes his turn by pleading for himself to live because he has a wife and children back home. The rest of the cast interrogates him about his “wife and kids,” clearly suspicious of his truthfulness without even knowing his dubbed “title.” Everyone in the room treats Austin like a joke.
In turn, so do we.
Next, we reach the closet and shortly after the failed drag show, Austin remarks, “Look, I uh… I didn’t expect to die here.” It’s a moment of pure honesty, whether we like it or not. It happens again when the Puzzler tries to party with them, and Austin has to angrily remind him that they are his captives and are actively trying to kill them.
Austin: “What are you doing? What are you doing? What are you doing? We're trying to get out of here. I have children and wives— wife. One wife! What is this some sort of game? I’ve been stuck in hear for hours it seems. We’re trying to get out. Why is nobody else freaking out? We’ve got C4 strapped to our neck…”
It isn’t until Ethan’s death, his blood pooling out from underneath the door, Austin screaming at the others, begging them to have a reaction, to care about their circumstances, to care about death, that we finally understand Austin’s role in Generation Loss.
After all, in every great comedy, someone always has to play the straight man.
Shows from the 60s/70s will always consist of the main characters going through the most insane, life-changing, traumatising experience and then having a shot of them all laughing together at the end and proceeding to never speak of it ever again
The ages in this show!! I have made some jokes about this before, but it gets me - with aging Ciri up and bringing her closer to Jaskiers age when they meet I can not help but draw parallels. Like Geralt bonded way differently with both of them (which makes sense because Ciri has been his Child surprise since birth and Jaskier just randomly turned up one day and followed him like a puppy) but it's so funny to me. also I'm 100% sure Jaskier was horny as fuck from the beginning so there was a whole different vibe from the get go
Sorry if this is a crazy thing to say, but my friend's been rereading your Remember This Cold series (I, personally, have only read The Vivisection Mambo from that series) and every time they send screenshots of Loki and Steve's conversations or Loki's internal monologue, I'm reminded viscerally of the dynamic of Lan Xichen/Jin Guangyao. I think you wrote like, one fic featuring them so once again sorry if this is weird, but I thought I might as well tell you
not weird because I do have a lot of Lan Xichen/Jin Guangyao feelings despite not writing a lot of fic specifically about them, so no worries on that front! I don't necessarily think they're that similar but I can see why you'd say that, for sure.
however I do have to say I'm getting caught up on the fact that you've only read The Vivisection Mambo from that series. of all the single works to choose, that you picked that one makes me want to buy you a drink and shake your hand
it is december and i am being brave (in bed under the biggest covers listening to tchaikovsky with winter ambience sounds and hot chocolate in my hands)
