>>> Reginald’s story – part 2 <<<
In the days that followed, Reginald started to notice changes. At first he thought he had just let his clothes shrink while washing. His muscles filled out his shirt more, and he felt stronger. At first, he was thrilled; the compliments piled up, and his ego grew as fast as his biceps. Climbing became easier, and he could last much longer than before. Whatever caused this change, he loved it.
But the growth didn't stop. His muscles were bursting at the seams, and his fingers got thick and clumsy. Each new pound of muscle made climbing harder. The initial benefits quickly vanished. Where there used to be ease, now there was a burden. He fell more often, and the grips that were once easy became a challenge.
His friends, once full of admiration, now stepped back and made fun of him. "Stop taking steroids," they advised, but Reginald knew he hadn't taken any. Despair grew along with his body. One day, he stood before the children's route that the old man had failed months ago. His fingers were too thick, and his muscles, though strong, couldn't lift his now 140kg weight. He fell again.
Desperate, he knelt before the climbing wall. He had the body of a competition bodybuilder now. What many saw as desirable and worked hard for had come to him as a curse. The climbing walls towered over him, seeming to laugh. Reginald realized he might never climb again. What was once his greatest passion had been taken away from him.

Barbie dolls: Regulus black x your bitch ass :) love you
Words: 2.5k ish
Summary: Regulus get trashed and confesses his love for you, you tell him to tell you in the morning when his ass is sober
Warnings: mentions of suicide, also Reggie is called gay by the narrator, underage drinking, drunkness written by someone who exclusively drinks Dr pepper, regulus cries and whines a lot, y/n joke, readers a perfect of no specified house, regulus gets no repercussions
Regulus was not a big fan of parties. He’s too Y/N for them, he once tried to bring a book to one. Barty threatened him with a knife. However even with his extreme hatred for B.O. he felt like dabbling in underage drinking. Regulus he was totally in love with his best friend, that’s you, a while ago. It was unfortunately in the Astronomy tower.
During class, he was muttering angrily to Barty about how you had ditched him for some dumb Ravenclaw, contradictory terms. Barty whispered that just because Regulus was in love with you did not mean he had to make it Barty’e problem at 2 am. With that Regulus froze, staring out at the wall. He was, wasn’t he?
He felt his mind screaming bloody murder, throwing plates and family heirlooms. How could he fall in love with his best friend? How gay was he? How much of his brother’s shadow was he? Regulus reached out and gripped Barty’s forearm. Barty turned back as the class was dismissing, filing out down the stairs. Barty patted Regulus’ shoulder before tearing his arm out of Regulus’ grip. Regulus stared out at the ledge.
“Barty, I must kill myself. It seems I am more of my cousin’s brother than I first realized.” With that Regulus flung himself towards the edge of the tower. Barty caught him by the back of his shirt, pulling Regulus tightly his chest. Barty awkwardly waddled Regulus towards the steps as Regulus continued to rabidly claw at Barty. Barty Stopped Regulus, ducking his head down to fling Regulus over his shoulder. Regulus bared his teeth, still trying to rabid his way out of Barty’s grip.
“It’ll pass, dear Reginald, It’ll pass.” Barty whispered, patting the back of Regulus thigh as he walked them both back to the commonroom. After that Regulus was well aware of his feeling for you. You weren’t. You were blissfully unaware. Alas, Regulus doesn’t know how to handle rejection that isn’t really rejection so he was offered alcohol by Barty.
So yes, Regulus went to a party. And no, he didn’t really like it, but he got booze so he accepted it. Barty didn’t even need to give Regulus a drink, Regulus was stealing them out of people’s hands. Barty got distracted dancing with Evan and others he entirely forgot he was on babysitting duty. Until he left to the bathroom and as he was washing his hands he gasped and stared in the mirror.
So he went searching for Regulus. Barty went around asking partially peeved people if they had seen a twat around shoulder height with black hair and an ugly shirt walking around. Most of them said no but one pointed Barty down a dark passageway behind a tapestry.
Barty sighed when he found Regulus sitting down the passageway on the floor. A small stack of red solo cups sitting next to him. Barty sat next to him. Regulus sighed. As he started talking, Barty realized how trashed he truly was. Regulus kept drifting off and staring over Barty’s shoulder, his words mixing together like food dye in water. Barty sighed standing up and pulling Regulus onto his feet. Barty kicked the stack of cups away deciding it wasn’t his problem.
On the way out Barty found Dorcas and Evan standing with each other. Pandora had decided she’d prefer to nap than go to a party. Barty gestured to Dorcas and Evan that they were leaving. Regulus was hanging off of Barty’s shoulder, mumbling about your eyes.
Evan pulled Regulus’ other arm over his shoulder. The three of them helped pull Regulus down the halls. As they were heading towards the dungeons they heard another set of footsteps. They got worried thinking it was a teacher or snobbish prefect, ducking behind a corner. Unfortunately Regulus didn’t get the message still muttering on about you. Dorcas slapped a hand over Regulus’ mouth. It was too late though, your head poking out from around the corner.
“Hey guys. Whatcha doing over here?” You asked, giving them a smile. Regulus’ head snapped up at your voice. He sighed when he saw you, leaning his head on Barty’s shoulder.
“Oh just hiding from snobbish prefects.” Barty said, rolling his eyes. You pointed to the prefect badge on your chest. Barty shrugged.
“He did say snobbish,” Dorcas muttered. “Which excludes you.” Evan nodded.
“You’re not snobbish. You’re more like snoggish.” Regulus whispered, his voice ebbing back and forth. He waited for a laugh for his pun, when one didn’t come he continued. “You know, cause like you’re not a snob but snob is like snog and I want to-“ Barty saved Regulus the embarrassment, covering his mouth with his hand. You gave Regulus a worried a look.
“I see you guys went to that party that’s against the rules.” You said, giving them a joking grin. Regulus lifted his head away from Barty’s hand.
“I didn’ want to. Barty forced. Do you still love me?” Regulus rushed out, skipping over words his mind deemed unnecessary. Evan rolled his eyes. If Regulus wasn’t trashed more than Barty’s bed, Evan would mock him. Dorcas groaned slightly. You gave Regulus sad eyes as you watched his waterline fill with tears.
“Yes, baby. Of course I still love you.” This seemed to be the wrong move because it made Regulus cry. You cooed as he pushed his face into Barty’s shoulder, his body shaking. Evan scoffed and released Regulus, moving to stand next to Dorcas. Regulus flung both his arms around Barty’s neck, sobbing more. Barty groaned at the added weight.
“Uh, you know. I heard that the professors have their hands kinda full tonight because all those fights from last week. So there wont be anyone to bust your party. I’ll take Regulus and tuck him in, you guys go have fun.” Barty shook his head at you. You held you hands up, already peeling Regulus’ arms off Barty.
“The Slytherin commonroom is already on my route so I’m really just feeding two birds with one seed.” Regulus sniffed as he realized who was holding onto him, staring up at you with puppy eyes. Barty looked over to Evan and Dorcas. They both nodded. Barty shrugged.
“Okay, but if he’s not in bed when I get back, I’m going to kill you.” Barty said. You nodded. Evan quickly pecked your cheek. Regulus groaned. You rubbed his back, trying to soothe him.
“Best prefect ever, I love you so much.” Evan muttered before latching onto Barty’s hand and heading back towards the party. Dorcas watched you as you looked down at Regulus, a small smile and soft eyes. She felt sick to her stomach. She left with the boys, not knowing she could handle another second of your gushy love. You pulled Regulus up more, heaving his arm over your shoulders. He started muttering going on and on about the party. You hummed, giving him positive reinforcement when he gave you a moment to speak.
Eventually with a lot of working and pulling and huffing you made it to the Slytherin dorms. You helped Regulus out of his shoes, tossing his legs into his bed. Regulus kept talking as you pulled his blankets over him. You started tucking the blanket in around him. Regulus pulled his arms out from under the blanket, grabbing onto your shoulders. He whispered your name. If you didn’t know him, you wouldn’t have understood him.
“Yes, my love? I’m not getting you a burrito, you know what happened last time. Never again.” Regulus clumsily brought one of his hands up to your cheek, making you meet his eyes. He looked like he was about to cry again.
“I like you.” He whispered. You nodded, a grin twitching at the corner of your lips.
“I know.” Regulus groaned at you.
“I’m lying, I love you.” You nodded again. You gently tucked one of his curls away from his eyes.
“I know. I love you, too.” Regulus huffed at you, getting irritated that you didn’t seem to be understanding.
“No. I love you. Like kissing.” You nodded slowly. You noticed a book off to the side, sitting on top of his blankets. You picked it up as you answered him.
“I know.” You bookmarked the page and set it on his nightstand. You looked back to Regulus, finding his face in his hands. You heard him sniffle. You frowned and gently pulled his hands away.
“Why are you crying?”
“If you love me why don’t you do anything?” Regulus huffed. You cooed, cupping his cheek.
“Well you never said anything. I had my suspicions but I wasn’t going to assume on something like that.” Regulus groaned again, harshly knocking his head into your arm. You gently pecked the back of his hand.
“Well then can you kiss me now?” Regulus asked. You shook your head. Regulus whined, starting to cry. You leaned over him wiping his tears away.
“Why?” He mumbled, pitifully.
“You’re drunker than a skunk, babe.” Regulus groaned, shoving at your shoulders. You knew you were wearing a shit eating grin by now but it was silly to you. You lightly grazed your lips over Regulus’ cheek, making him freeze and stare at you with sparkling eyes.
“Tell you what, if you can remember to talk to me tomorrow about this, I’ll give you the best kiss I can muster.” Regulus gaped up at you, holding onto your shoulders again.
“Really?” He asked. You hummed and nodded. Regulus had a smile already growing on his face. You finished tucking him in before slowly backing away. Regulus fell asleep before you made it out the door.
The next morning you were chatting with another prefect in the Great Hall. They were telling you about how they caught two Hufflepuffs higher than a kite sitting behind a potted fern. You were interrupted by Barty, plopping down between you two. Barty threw his arms around you. Regulus stood on the other side of you. You smiled up at him. He looked tired. Regulus was sporting Dorcas’ thick bright green sunglasses. He glanced down at you. If you could see his eyebrows, you assumed he’d be lifting one. You ducked one hand behind him, holding onto the back of his knee. You just barely traveled up, grazing over the back of Regulus’ thigh.
“You remember anything I told you last night?” You asked. Regulus shrugged.
“I remember making a bad pun about snogging and that’s as far as my memory goes.” He pushed Dorcas’ sunglasses further up his nose.
“Mr. Black you know the dress code.” You heard Slughorn’s voice behind you. Regulus glanced back.
“Suck my dick.” Slughorn gave Regulus a disgusted look as Regulus turned back around. You looked back at Professor Slughorn.
“It’s fine. I’ll write him up.” Slughorn looked between you two before stalking off. You trailed your fingertips up and down the back of Regulus’ leg. “truly you should not have done that.” Regulus shrugged.
“He’s just jelly because he can’t pull off those cool shades, huh Reg?” Barty said. Regulus reached around you and smacked the back of Barty’s head. Evan sat across from you.
“God I wish you would pull those off.” Evan muttered. Regulus flipped Evan off.
“Well I like them. I think you make them work.” You smiled up at Regulus. You felt slightly more judged just staring up at a pair of sunglasses with barely a quarter of Regulus’ face peaking out from under them. You felt Regulus gently nudged your chin up with his finger.
“Next time you go into the dorms, can you talk quieter?” You glanced over at Pandora’s voice. She was standing over Evan staring at you. Regulus dropped his hand to hold onto your shoulder.
“Yeah sorry.” She nodded, sitting down next to Evan.
“You were in the dorms?” Regulus asked. You glanced over at him.
“Yes? Baby, I’m the one who took you back to bed.” He nodded.
“Oh yeah, you did do that. I remember tripping over your feet in the halls.” You rolled your eyes at Regulus.
“Well don’t be a bitch, Regulus.” Evan muttered.
“I’ll be your bitch, Rosie.” Barty muttered, winking across the table. Evan snarled at him.
“Not over breakfast guys. You have to let Regulus gain at least one third of memories first. Also it’s gross.” You said, pointing your fork at them. You heard Regulus mutter a ‘huh’ at the mention of his name.
“You can join.” Barty whispered.
“No they may not.” Evan said, annoyed.
“So you admit there is something to join in on?” Barty pointed at Evan. Evan pinched his lips together, caught.
“You walked right into that one.” Dorcas muttered, joining the table. You zoned them out, giving your attention back to Regulus.
“How are you feeling?” Regulus glared at you, or so you assumed.
“Like someone pierced an arrow through my temples.” You cooed, pressing your chin into his hip.
“I’m sorry, baby. If I had known you were going I would’ve gotten a better babysitter.” Regulus scoffed.
“I’m not a child. You’re not getting a babysitter, because I’m not a baby.” Regulus muttered.
“Fair, but you like when I call you baby.” You patted his thigh, giving him a cocky grin.
“Deception, lies, and deceit.” Regulus said. You hummed, tauntingly. Regulus shook his head, choosing to ignore you. You tilted your head.
“You really don’t remember anything you told me last night?” Regulus shook his head, looking down at you.
“Why? Did I say something wrong? I swear I showed it to the doctor he told me to wear socks on my hands to bed, I’m working on it.” You stared at Regulus for a moment. You felt the part of you brain that worried for your friends tell you to ask about what he showed and what it had to do with socks on your hands. But the other part of your brain muttered ‘Do you know what that is? Not my problem’.
“No. Nothing wrong.” Regulus tilted his head to the side, staring at you from behind his obnoxiously large sunglasses. Regulus clicked his tongue.
“Yeah well, whatever. Do you think my teachers will notice if I skip?” You nodded.
“Yes, you’re never absent.” Regulus scoffed at you. He squeezed at your shoulder.
“Well consider this: I don’t want to go.” You hummed. Regulus nodded at you.
“Thats a good point.” You walked Regulus to his first class, abusing your prefect privileges to have your tardy ignored. You were a little upset Regulus didn’t remember anything but you assumed he’d remember later on during the day.
He did not. And you did not bring it up. You’d just have to wait until Regulus got lost at a party again.

tudor gothic:
the lord chancellor is called thomas. he runs the country. he wants no part in where england goes from now. the lord chancellor is being arrested for treason. the lord chancellor was executed. the lord chancellor was never arrested. there is no lord chancellor.
the crown is dissolving monasteries. this is standard practice. all the monasteries are shutting down. this is thomas's fault. you have no idea which thomas. the crown wants the monasteries back. the monasteries are never coming back. you visited an intact monastery just yesterday. when you blinked, the ruins gave alms to the poor.
the wars of the roses have just ended decisively. the wars of the roses have been over for decades. the legacy of civil war haunts england. you've watched shakespeare's wars of the roses plays. the wars of the roses must have been over when the throne passed peacefully to henry viii. when you close your eyes, you can somehow hear reginald pole laughing at you.
the duke of somerset was beheaded for treason. so was the duke of buckingham. so was the duke of northumberland. so was the duke of norfolk. so was the duke of suffolk. the duke of suffolk never lost the king's affection. all the dukes are vying for power. but then you remember: there are no dukes. perhaps there never were.
the howards are not to be trusted. thomas howard was thrown in the tower. thomas howard was executed for treason. thomas howard lived out his life peacefully. thomas howard only narrowly escaped henry viii's reign with his life. you are drowning in thomases. they never end. one thing you are certain of, though: thomas howard is long dead. thomas howard will outlive us all.
you know the names of every courtier in the kingdom, and yet more go missing with every passing day. you try to note down the name of thomas wryth, but you cannot put quill to parchment. how is it spelt? wriothesley? you have always known that. you know it deep in your bones. and yet, when you try to say it out loud, words fail you. words fail everyone, where the earl of southampton is concerned. somewhere dark and terrible, an ancient beast awakens from its slumber. like everything else, it is also called thomas.
you turn to noting down the name of the queen. kateryn parr. this is a simple task. your subconscious whispers catalina to you in a distinctly spanish accent. your hand shakes. you try to write down catherine, but it morphs into a k against your will. you drop your quill, hand trembling. nonetheless, there is a name before you. whose name it is is anyone's guess.
mary is queen. which mary? which queen? suddenly, you are not so sure.
the bible is written in latin. the bible has always been written in latin. you flick through the pages of your bible, and greek letters swim before your eyes. you check the book again, and find you are holding a book of hours. all the words are in english. you cannot read any of them.
the king of england has ruled for many years. he is nine years old. the king of england is a foreign power. elizabeth was king; now james is queen. long live queen james!

Kaycee's sprite
(Copy-pasted from my original Wikia comment)
So! Fun Kaycee fact: By poking around in the files, we can actually guess at something fairly close to her appearance, using both her Deathcard and the Act II alternate player characters.
How Deathcard images work is that the sprite is made of different parts:
Tumblr media
We can see that Kaycee's Deathcard is made with Eyes 5, Mouth 2, and the "Wildling" head/hairstyle.
Similarly, the Act II sprites are divided into head and body:
Tumblr media
...With char.png being the default sprite, and the monocle being an overlay after picking it up from Magnificus' tower. The gbc_ files are randomly combined to make a new player character when walking into the mirror in the back of Grimora's crypt. (Side note... unsure of what the gbc part means, I was thinking the G stood for Grimora but there are files with it unrelated to her, so I think it's just an Act II signifier in general.)
But anyway, putting together the wildling files, we get this spritesheet:
Tumblr media
And upscaled + condensed to be a bit easier to look at:
Tumblr media
Kaycee Hobbes in full-color, 8-bit glory!!
This process applies to the other pre-made deathcards! Louis - chief Reginald - settlerman Kaminski - settlerwoman James Cobb - robot Luke Carder - gravedigger
...As well as some other premade Kaycee's Mod deathcards that don't seem to have a ton of significance. The Prospector is also, obviously, the prospector in the files, despite not having a deathcard.
Reginald does look like the Reginald we know, just wearing blue instead of red. Prospector is spot-on. James did get turned into a robot, and Luke is, well, dead. A skeleton. We don't have canon appearances for Louis or Kaminski, so they're pretty much fair game. Meaning these are probably fairly legit, since itl all lines up so well. I guess it's not, like, solid evidence, but circumstantially it all makes a lot of sense. So, there we go! Canon appearance for Kaycee (And Lou Natas and Kaminski??), or at least the closest thing we'll probably ever get, unless Pony Island 2 surprises us with her.
Hope this is interesting to people!
(Unrelated, does Reginald and Kaminski being named settlerman and settlerwoman respectively imply that they're married? That'd be pretty interesting to think about)

Okay dear author what would your characters say to YOU if they met you and knew who you were
You mean if they knew I was the one that created them and gave them their backstories/life? 😂
Tumblr media
Koda: Would probably crush me into a hug before anything else (and he absolutely towers over me so I’d be completely consumed by it). Whispering, in a soft voice, after a moment: “Thank you for giving me everything I could have ever wanted.”
Scarlett: Would just stare at me, arms crossed, fingers slightly digging into her skin, as her glare begins to gain more and more heat with each moment that passes. “So you’re the one that cursed me? Was what happened to me not enough? You had to add onto it?” (I would definitely fear for my life.)
Cyrus/Cyra: Wouldn’t know what to do, if I’m being honest. They’d totally have things they’d like to say, conversations they’d like to hold, and questions they’d like to know the answers to, but they’d simply settle on: “Will I be a good ruler?”
Quinn: Would have a short conversation with their wolf— due to the fact that I’m technically Fenrir in this scenario (as I gave them life/blessed them)— but Quinn (human) would ultimately win. “You’re not quite I imagined, but I guess that’s whole point of reality vs. fiction.”
Caden: Would get a small smile on their face, head ducking as they fiddle with the sleeve of their sweater. They would know what to say, would know how they’d wish to say it, but would have difficulty actually getting everything out. Only to finally settle on: “You’ve given me quite the journey… Thank you for the ending.”
Sloane: Would honestly just deck me without saying a word… which is honestly fair, if I’m being honest. 😂
Blake: Would be instantly interested in whatever I had to say, mainly because I know so much about them without them actively having to share a thing. “So you’re technically me then? Neat. Think you could take my upcoming test?”
Reginald/Regina: Would have a multitude of questions for me— about where they end up, why I chose what I did for them, if they discover what they wish to be, etc… Though they’ll start with this: “So you’re technically the Divine then? You created all of us? Why’d it take you so long to reveal yourself?”

What's your opinion on The White Queen and the other shows in the PGCU?
*stares out of the window, eyes full of memories* The White Queen… now that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time…
Ah, 2013. Springtime. I was excited for the White Queen to air through the Beeb. Since 2011 I had devoured the first four books of PG’s Cousins’ War series: The White Queen (loved it) The Red Queen (loved it even more) The Lady of the Rivers (you mean best girl Jacquetta gets her own book? RESULT!) The Kingmaker’s Daughter (whaaaat the story is completely different from another person’s POV? MIND BLOWN!)
Yes, people don’t like the role of witchcraft in the story, but I didn’t mind it at all. It made sense to me that women might practice white magic, because medieval people really did believe magic could work. And if the Tudors felt special by claiming descent from King Arthur, it made sense that descent from Melusine would feel special to Elizabeth Woodville and her family. After all, as far as back Julius Caesar people were claiming descent from heroes gods and mythological figures. And yes, it’s a cliché to have your Empowered Woman practice herbology or witchcraft etc Divine Feminine etc, but Margaret Beaufort was a HBIC while explicitly rejecting magic, and the same goes for Anne Neville.
The tabloids were already grumbling about how the show filmed in Belgium because the medieval architecture there was less intruded-upon. Then the first episodes aired and the tabloids were grumbling about zippers, straight teeth, concrete steps, guttering, handrails, Rebecca Ferguson’s accent. ‘It’s not as good as Game of Thrones’. What was this show, ‘Game of Thrones’? I felt rather envious/jealous. I wanted my show to be good. I wanted my show to get good reviews and have people enthused about it and be genuinely objectively well-made. Now I’ve moved beyond this attitude; and if a show is better than ‘my’ show I don’t resent it because there’s nothing to stop me enjoying the better show too.
(….mostly moved beyond this attitude).
Funnily enough it was because of the White Queen that I landed upon this strangely-formatted website called ‘tumbler’. Sorry, ‘tumblr’.
Ah, the cast! I wouldn’t change a single person. Janet McTeer! James Frain! David Oakes! Rupert Graves! Amanda Hale! Veerle Baetens! Eleanor Tomlinson! Faye Marsay! Aneurin Barnard as Richard the Frodo!
Also, Leo Bill as Reginald Bray, he was great! I remember at the time saying that Reggie B and Maggie B should have their own sitcom spinoff called Saints’ Knees.
Episodes 6 and 7 were my favourite because I was a big Richard/Anne shipper. Even the reviewers came around to the show with episode 9 ‘the Princes in the Tower’.
And then the finale….how I hated it. Bosworth FIELD in a wood?? In winter?? Bullshit! Torpedoing the Richard/Anne ship with INCEST? UGH.
I particularly hated the last scene because it was such a damp squib. The show should have ended on a high note, with Margaret’s triumph, with her dream coming true, with her sheer relief that her only son has gambled his life and won. With mother and son gloriously reunited. But no, it ended with Elizabeth of York, the least interesting character in the whole show. SNORE.  I have the White Queen on DVD but idk if I’ll ever rewatch it.
Then the book The White Princess came out and W-T-F? I loved the first 4 books but the 5th book was a SLOG to get through. What was PGregs thinking?? This wasn’t Henry VII. This wasn’t Elizabeth of York. This wasn’t the Margaret of the Red Queen, with her flaws, her loves, her fears, her strength, her dreams, her humanity. I finished the White Princess but I only got through 2-5 pages of The King’s Curse before I gave up, suspecting that the book would be another 500 pages of whining about the Tudors and nothing else. Yes, it’s unfair to call Margaret Pole whiny as she had legit reasons to be unhappy, but it felt whiny.
Years passed. Empires rose and fell. Ironically, I got into Game of Thrones and read all the books. Then 2015 arrived and I watched the first episode of series 5, realised they made a huge mistake killing off a certain major character, and I was right because it was DOWNHILL ALL THE WAY.
2017. I didn’t watch the White Princess but I followed the Discourse, especially the excellent analysis by MelinaPendulum (now Princess Weekes). In theory, the show should be right up my street. A vengeful princess in love with her shady king uncle? Her shady king uncle is killed in battle and she must marry the conqueror? Vengeful princess vows to be ‘hidden and patient’? It’s enemies to lovers? The conqueror reveals hidden vulnerabilities? She realises she wants her son to be king after his father? She’s torn between her ambition, her mother’s ambition, her brother’s ambition, and her burgeoning desire for her husband, a sexy mop? She destroys her brother, the Rightful King ™? She executes her brother, just as her father executed his own brother? She finds her own power but loses a tiny and precious part of her soul in the process? SIGN ME UP.
The show should have been historically inspired fantasy. Just change the names! The costumes were more fairytale than medieval anyway! Change Richard III to Gorlois, Elizabeth to Igraine, Henry VII to Uther Pendragon.
I loved the posters for The Spanish Princess series 1 but I had no reason to watch it.
And then… The Spanish Princess series 2. What an event that show was! We didn’t know what Fraham would give us each week but we knew it would be illogical, hilarious, terrible, TASTELESS. Reading everyone’s reviews and liveblogs each week, the endless meme potential, the consensus that the show was utter shlock, so lowbrow that it made The Tudors look like Breaking Bad in comparison. The show was so stupid that it was almost beneath contempt. And there were unironically good things about it: Georgie Henley and Sai Bennett acted their socks off and I wish them all the best, I hope they get good parts in better shows. Their characters were genuinely interesting and engaging: fun, sassy, flawed. Me gusta. Maggie Pole, Lina, Oviedo… sympathetic characters with little to do, but it was nice seeing POC and ‘middle aged’ women and I wish they were the protagonists instead of poor Charlotte Hope desperately struggling to speak Spanishly. (Ruairi O’Connor also tried hard, he just wasn’t well-cast or well-written.) In a way, maybe it was more fun than Becoming Elizabeth because at least there was no wasted potential and no frustrated expectations: we expected shlock, we got shlock. The show wasn’t good but the community around the show livened up the end of a….not terrible but definitely WEIRD year of my life.

Katherine of Aragon & Gertrude Courtenay
Gertrude was daughter of William Blount, fourth Baron Mountjoy, a distinguished humanist scholar and chamberlain to Katherine of Aragon. As the daughter of such an esteemed gentleman at court,  Gertrude received an outstanding education and served Katherine of Aragon as one of her maids of honor. The Queen oversaw the education of her young charges, so Gertrude benefitted from the royal patronage. In 1519, she married to Henry VIII’s first cousin Henry Courtenay, Earl of Devon. Gertrude was the wife and mother of the last Plantagenets at the Tudor court.
Gertrude was one of Queen Katherine of Aragon's attendants at the Field of the Cloth of Gold in 1520. If the Chateau Vert rings any bells it’s probably because it was the masque that saw Anne Boleyn, freshly returned from France, debuting at the Tudor court in March 1522. A little-known fact is that Gertrude Courtenay also took part in it, playing the role of Honour. In 1525, Gertrude’s star was on the rise once again when her husband was created the Marquess of Exeter, making Gertrude a Marchioness.

Gertrude was among the key political players of Henry VIII’s court during the infamous annulment, known as the Great Matter, commencing in 1527 and ending in 1536. The Marchioness of Exeter was among the high-profile ladies-in-waiting who staunchly supported Katherine of Aragon. Seeing how popular the Queen was among the women at court, Anne Boleyn used her influence and dismissed some of them, including Gertrude.
During the summer of 1531, Katherine of Aragon was banished from court. The Queen received gifts and letters from her trusted friends and former servants like Gertrude Courtenay in her exile.
Tumblr media
Henry VIII had had enough of his wife’s resistance, and he married the pregnant Anne Boleyn in secret on 25 January 1533. On 31 May, Anne rode in a procession from the Tower of London to Westminster Hall—it was the most impressive part of the coronation festivities. The Marchioness of Exeter opened the cavalcade, a clear sign that she was a high-profile lady-in-waiting. Gertrude had no other choice but to follow the King’s orders and accompany the new Queen: a clear sign to Katherine’s followers that unconditional obedience was required. Gertrude’s husband managed to avoid appearing at Anne’s coronation. Whether the illness Henry Courtenay suffered in June was real or feigned cannot be discerned now, but Gertrude later “much lamented her husband’s sickness at the time of the Queen’s coronation, and said that though her person was there, her heart was at home with her husband”.
Gertrude’s prominent role during the christening of Anne Boleyn’s daughter was calculated as an insult to Katherine of Aragon. Henry VIII selected Gertrude as one of Princess Elizabeth’s godmothers. The disgusted Marchioness complained to her friends that “she really wanted to have nothing to do with this” but took part “so as not to displease the King”.
Tumblr media
Like her father, Gertrude walked on eggshells trying not to displease the King, but ultimately it was impossible for her to accept Anne Boleyn as the new Queen. The Catholic Marchioness soon found herself in a position of open defiance of Henry VIII and his second wife. Gertrude gave ear to the Nun of Kent’s prophecies (for which the Nun was executed in 1534). She remained fiercely loyal to Katherine of Aragon and Princess Mary in their fall from grace. She exchanged letters with Eustace Chapuys, ambassador of the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, and even visited him in disguise during the period when it was dangerous to become Henry VIII’s enemy. How much Gertrude knew of the proposed match between Reginald Pole and Princess Mary remains unknown, but she certainly favoured the idea of the Anglo-Imperial war. In late 1535, Katherine of Aragon’s health began to deteriorate and it became clear to everyone that she was mortally ill. She died on 7 January 1536 amid rumours of poisoning.

Children of the Void
Tumblr media
A fascinating episode of the vibrant feats from "Kingdom of Glory" unfolds. However, at this starting point, I have decided to take the perspective of the antagonists who yearn to capture Prince Reginald and his daring adventure companions.
Reginald stood tall, gripping his mighty sword, Calamity, with a firm and determined hand. The weight of the weapon felt substantial, a manifestation of the darkness that had become entwined with his destiny. It had only been a short time since Reginald's path had converged with that of the Knights of Darkness, and with it came a profound secret he now carried. In the turmoil and troubles besieging the kingdom, there was no room for contemplation of the events that unfolded within Zurkaks, the foreboding Tower of Darkness that Reginald had infiltrated. The secrets that lurked within its dark corridors were to be kept hidden, concealed from prying eyes, especially those who were unaware of Reginald's initiation into the enigmatic order of the Knights of Darkness.
But the past has a way of weaving itself back into one's life, and Reginald found himself ill-prepared for the twists and turns that awaited him.
Lady Night, the overseer of the Knights of Darkness, could not find solace until she tracked down Reginald and compelled him to complete his training. The young prince was an anomaly among the initiates, a knight of light thrust into the realm of darkness. The possibilities were vast and unpredictable.
Another demanding day of Lady Night's tireless pursuit came to an end. She understood the perils that permeated these treacherous lands of Draconious, where wild beasts roamed the untamed plains. Lady Night and her entourage, comprised of three elite dark knights and a formidable dark magician, were prepared for anything that dared to cross their path.
As Reginald and his loyal companions embarked on their perilous journey, traversing the treacherous Draconious mountain range in their tireless pursuit to save him from succumbing to the clutches of darkness, Lady Night and her squadron mounted their steeds, tracing the trail left behind by Reginald's passage.
For Miss Terror, it was a departure from the familiar surroundings of Zurkaks Tower, the only home she had ever known. Born and raised within its foreboding walls, her body had not undergone the same grueling augmentations with dark metal rods that marked the initiation process of a knight of darkness. She was among the first generation of children born into the darkness of Draconious, an enigmatic breed with eyes as black as night, seemingly gazing into the very depths of one's soul. Miss Terror was an extraordinary Knight of Darkness, wielding Desperation, her dual-bladed sword of darkness with exquisite finesse. Unlike the typical swords wielded by her brethren, Desperation consisted of twin metal blades, each one crafted to perfection. She carried them both sheathed upon her back, an emblem of her prowess and readiness for any encounter.
Miss Terror had been raised alongside her kind, witnessing the world through the eyes of those born from the abyss. They were the children of darkness, beings bound by a singular purpose: to expand Chaleine's dominion over the realm of shadows. But this expedition marked the first time Miss Terror would be surrounded by those who had embarked on the path to become knights of darkness, having undergone the initiation process themselves.
Sir Malevolence and Sir Carnage were notable figures within Lady Night's retinue. Their seasoned expertise in wielding their respective weapons of darkness had earned them lofty positions within the organization. Their imposing physiques commanded respect, their stature casting a formidable shadow against the silhouettes of Miss Terror and Lady Night.
Adding to the ensemble was Sleevol, a magician hailing from the realm of darkness. The transformation process he had undergone was even more arduous than that of a knight of darkness. Only a select few possessed the fortitude to withstand the grueling procedures, and even fewer managed to survive beyond its inception. Sleevol's body was a testament to his endurance, bristling with dark metal spikes that pierced his flesh, transforming him into a being that no longer resembled a mere mortal. The hardened skin, fused with the protruding metal, extended even to his face, ordinarily concealed beneath a cloak's hood, an embodiment of an otherworldly existence.
Their encampment nestled within the heart of Wisper Hills, a dense forest that lay between them and Reginald's path. The journey still stretched far before them. Lady Night's mission was twofold: to ensure that the young prince completed his dark training or, failing that, to end his life and reclaim Calamity, the powerful sword he currently possessed.
Under the canopy of a starlit sky, the flickering campfire offered meager protection against the lurking terrors of Draconious. An unseen threat could be prowling in the shadows, biding its time before launching a deadly assault.
Sir Carnage completed his assigned patrol and stealthily approached the tent belonging to Miss Terror. In hushed tones, he whispered her name repeatedly, cautious not to awaken the others. Failing to elicit a response, he cautiously poked his head into the tent.
As Sir Carnage suspected, Miss Terror lay fast asleep, her dark eyes, usually filled with an ethereal glow, now closed in tranquil slumber. In this vulnerable state, stripped of her piercing gaze, she appeared as any ordinary woman would. Her delicate skin and alluring features possessed an undeniable charm that aroused desire within those who beheld her. Sir Carnage, too, was not immune to the allure of the flesh. Seizing the moment, he succumbed to his own forbidden yearnings, his eyes lingering upon Miss Terror's exposed form as he peeled back the blanket that draped her body. To his astonishment, he revealed the Knight of Darkness' bare bosom. It was his first glimpse of the nakedness that veiled the daughters of darkness. Sir Carnage stood transfixed, his gaze locked upon her.
Suddenly, Miss Terror shifted in her sleep, effortlessly rolling onto her knees with a grace that defied the gravity of the moment. Startled, Sir Carnage found himself staring into the depths of her obsidian eyes, momentarily drawn away from her exposed chest. It was at that precise moment that he realized the two blades of Desperation had impaled his chest, puncturing his flesh with surgical precision.
Blood welled in Sir Carnage's mouth as he coughed, his hand instinctively reaching for the swords embedded within him. With a swift motion, Miss Terror withdrew her blades, leaving behind a crimson trail. The camp erupted in the anguished cries of the myriad creatures that had remained hidden, concealed within the darkness. Undeterred, Miss Terror wasted no time in investigating the source of the cacophony, her swords gripped tightly in her hands. The sounds seemed to reverberate from various directions, evading her attempts to pinpoint their origin. Gradually, she discerned that she had unwittingly stumbled into a malevolent trap.
The ground beneath her feet had become coated in a slimy, viscous substance—a grotesque amalgamation of oozing mouths and distorted eyes, a nightmarish spawn from a twisted maw. The creature that spawned this abomination lurked nearby, poised to strike when the moment was ripe. With a surge of realization, Miss Terror found herself ensnared, her feet trapped within the aberrant ground.
With unwavering resolve, Miss Terror capitalized on the darkened blood that stained her blades, channeling its malevolent essence into a summoning spell. A wall of bones materialized, shielding her from the imminent descent of countless sharp-toothed maws, hungering for her flesh.
The abomination collided against the skeletal barrier, skidding and sliding across its surface, but the Knight of Darkness had vanished from its reach. Liberated from the clutches of the aberrant ground, Miss Terror vaulted backward, evading the creature's assault. As the babbling mouther reared its monstrous form atop the bone wall, Miss Terror initiated her counterattack. The odds were stacked against the creature, its demise imminent. With each strike, she methodically dismantled its array of eyes, plunging it into a state of blinding darkness. Countless mouths followed suit, decimated under the wrath of her blades, until only a sickly residue lingered upon the ground.
Miss Terror paused, her breath ragged and labored, her body pulsating with the adrenaline of battle. Sir Carnage regarded her with a mix of admiration and pain, his wounds tenderly clasped in a futile attempt to staunch the bleeding. Momentarily, his gaze swept over her exposed bosom, but Miss Terror swiftly covered herself, mindful of their surroundings, before retreating to her tent, preparing for the continued vigilance that lay ahead.

Powers of Eden (I)
Tumblr media
Associated fandoms: Assassin's Creed x The Umbrella Academy
Pairing: Altaïr Ibn La'ahad x Reader (Platonic), perhaps some Altaïr x Malik in later pieces
Warnings: One (1) spoiler for The Umbrella Academy
Summary: The reader, who is similar to the "The Umbrella Academy" character Five Hargreeves, attempts to travel back in time. While it succeeds, they travel a lot further back than what they would've liked..
Add. Notes: Allow me to give some background on Five, for those who haven't seen the show: The original Five Hargreeves comes from an adopted family of 9. The siblings' names are Luther, Diego, Allison, Klaus, Ben, and Viktor, and his "parents" are Reginald and Grace. Along with his siblings, Five has superpowers, which in his case are teleportation and time travel. He used to work for a timeline related commission as an assassin. In this story, the reader/Five has no affiliation with the said Commission.

{ I've returned with a new piece! I'm pretty sure that I will write more parts for this, but I'm not sure how I should write a specific part related to languages without using Google Translate. So if any of you has advice related to that, I'd appreciate if you spare some for me. In any case, it looks like I managed to write something before St. Patrick's, so happy (still early) St. Patrick's Day! My so-called "spice" for this time is that I speak in English a lot more than in my mother tongue, which causes me to forget words in the latter language. }
-Eero, March 2023
Masterlist ✧*。
When you were younger, you would practice teleporting –and on a few rare occasions, time travel– with Reginald's guidance, starting with a few small units at a time and then building up from that. On these very few occasions, he only allowed you practice time jumping to the future, and whenever you questioned him for that restriction, he would say things along the lines of "A wrong move down the line could change the whole world as we know it," "Time travel is far more complex than teleportation," and "You were not educated enough to understand time travel."
Even if what the older Hargreeves had explained to you these days was true or not, he wasn't just a prick, he was the whole cactus. Today felt like a good day to not listen to what he had told you, just to spite him. It wasn't like Reginald was going to stop you anyway; He was dead, "playing tennis with Hitler in hell," as Klaus said before his funeral.
You told Grace and Viktor about what you were going to do, even though they weren't going to know that when you meet them yesterday, the day you planned to jump back to. You strutted to the Umbrella Academy's courtyard, where after two attempts you successfully opened a way through time.
Except, when you stepped through the ripple of time and looked for signs that you actually time travelled instead of teleporting in an arduous manner, you realized that you weren't in the Academy's courtyard anymore.
You were standing on the roof of a small, sand-colored building. You could see a city around you, with a bunch of houses and towers in different shades of yellows and whites. You recognized a large building as you took in your surroundings; a blue and white temple with a gold dome acting as its roof. With the famous temple in mind, you easily concluded that you somehow ended up in Jerusalem.
Once you came out from your daze of admiring the landscape around you, you realized that a hooded man dressed in white was behind you, staring bullets into your head. You wanted to tell him about what happened to you, but given your location, you doubted that he would understand you.
The assumption ended up being correct, because he began speaking in an unrecognizable language. The only useful thing you could do in that situation was gesturing to him that you didn't understand him, which was exactly what you did. Some gears seemed to align for him, and as a response he took you by the arm and into the building below you.
The two of you landed on the floor of what seemed to be an outdoor living room. You couldn't really take in many details, since the strange man continued dragging you through the building. The room you stopped in had a collection of bookshelves, baskets, pots, and many other things, but what caught your eye was a one-armed man standing behind a table.
The cripple noticed you the moment you and the hooded stranger walked in, and began to question the latter about you. They talked for a short period of time, then the man behind the desk walked away from the table to you and the other strange man.
The two men turned to you, and tried to introduce themselves in the most simplest way they could to someone who didn't understand their language; they pointed at themselves and said their names. The now formerly hooded man introduced himself as Altaïr, and the other one with a dark robe over his similarity white outfit introduced himself as Malik. You told tell them your name in the same manner; you pointed at your torso and said "(Y/N)."
Altaïr looked at the other man and said something in his language, to which Malik chuckled and made another comment as a response.
("A name. That's a start.") ("What a funny name. You certainly weren't wrong about the 'odd person' part.")
The two began brainstorming on what they should do with you now; they couldn't let you leave the bureau, because you didn't understand their language, you likely had no idea what the surrounding world was like, and you looked like someone out of a bizarre story told by a drunk bard. All they could think of with the given circumstances was that they needed to take you in.
Malik went to one of the shelves in the room, and began looking for books that could possibly help with the language barrier. You joined him to look for documents with dates on them; you needed some year written on a recent paper, to get an idea of how far back in time you actually jumped.
Altaïr realized what you were doing, and found some excess paper to write down the year for you. You took the paper and thought that you wouldn't be surprised about the year, since their appearances seemed to give it away. Yet, you were very surprised, even for someone who just time travelled on purpose. You had jumped into the period of the Third Crusade.
You quickly recovered from the shock that came with that fact, and wrote down "2019" onto the other side of the paper Altaïr had given you. You gave the paper to him for both him and Malik to see. The two froze in place, and Altaïr dropped the piece of paper onto the ground. They turned to look at you again, and visibly wanted to ask multiple questions about the future from you; you could see the eagerness on their faces. Unfortunately, the language barrier was no help.
The presence of an inability to communicate with you made the two white-clothed men determined to try and teach you their language while you were under their wing.
For a change of scenery to let you process what happened, Altaïr took you back to the main area of the building, where he sat you down. He walked into a third room to get you some food, after Malik had left you two alone to find you some clothes that would help you blend in—to make it less obvious that you've come from 900 years into the future.
As Altaïr handed you some food, Malik came up to you two and placed a small stack of clothing next to your legs. He muttered something to Altaïr in their foreign tongue as he was walking back into what you concluded was probably his office.
("If they need help with the clothes, you can count me out.")
Since the building usually didn't have any visitors of your kind, majority of the spare clothes were related to what seemed to be their uniform. The clothes Malik had provided you included a pair of dark pants, some white robes similar to the ones Altaïr was wearing, and plain boots fit for running and climbing, along with a leather harness to keep the clothes in place. Those clothes obviously weren't what you were used to wearing, but they were relatively better than the ones you had on at the moment.
You left Altaïr alone into the main area to go change into the robes. Only after you had changed you realized that your clothes looked like a downgraded version of the two men's outfits. You concluded that the clothes they wore had different features based on ranks. You didn't even know what kind of organization they worked for or what their jobs were, so you couldn't put more thought into the conclusion that you had just made.
As you got back to Altaïr, you only then felt the exhaustion from the energy-consuming time jump kick in. Even if you would've had enough energy to try time-jumping again, you wouldn't have wanted to risk accidentally travelling into the Stone Age. The little "living room" seemed comfortable enough to be used as a bedroom, which was the reason why you lied down in the bundle of pillows that were sitting on the ground.
The white-clothed man briefly disappeared into another room and returned to get you a thin blanket. As you prepared to rest, Altaïr sat down to begin contemplating on the things he could try to do in order to help you adapt to a possible life in Jerusalem. Thanks to a sheer lack of ideas, he only thought of recruiting you as a novice for the Assassin Order.
Now that you had fallen asleep, Altaïr went to Malik to consult him on what they should do.The latter thought that recruiting you—a strange person who literally emerged out of nowhere and couldn't even speak their language–into the Order was an outrageous idea that should be out of question. The dark-coated man also added that they couldn't even take you to Masyaf to swear you in and train you there because of the language barrier. But even then, their morals told them that teaching you was the best they could do with the lifestyle they had.
The two decided to show you a little thing or two about being an assassin, without making you an official member, and see how it would go. Malik proposed that he would teach you their language whenever he could multitask, and Altaïr added that he could show you a move or few while he trained or when he brought you along for an info hunt. All they could do now was to wait for you to wake up and get ready for a bring-your-novice-to-work day with the two men.
Personal pointers: A particular bureau for Assassins that Altaïr frequently visits in certain fanart is in Jerusalem, since Malik is the Rafiq there. Like majority of the buildings in that city, the hideout is in the color of sand and maybe a few specific spices.

St. Patrick’s Day
On this merry verdant day, we highlight some of the many engravings from our copy of The Antiquities of Ireland by the English antiquary Francis Grose, printed in London by Thomas Bensley for Samuel Hooper in two volumes from 1791-1795. This is a later printing; Hooper first published this title in 1791, and most of the plates bear that date.
We thought it would be fun to pair the architectural plates with photographs (ripped off the interwebs) of how these structures appear today. From top to bottom, they are:
St. Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin.
Reginald’s Tower, Waterford.
Bullock Castle, Dublin.
Ballinafad Castle, Sligo.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

FED REPS: Federation Representatives support and advise officers if they've been accused of something or matters like pay, rights, allowances, conduct, equality and development etc. It's often mocked, mostly when Reg is in the position as everyone's favourite busy body, however it is a responsible position and Reg was very good at it if only due to his nitpicking and love of the rule book.
Fed reps: Reg Hollis, Barry Stringer, George Garfield, Nick Klein, Leela Kapoor
The Area Car can only be driven by the officers who are qualified to drive them for example: Roger Valentine, Tony Stamp, Kirsty Knight, Callum Stone, Ben Gayle, Gemma Osbourne, Yvonne Hemmingway, Matt Boyden, Vicky Hagen, Gina Gold, Steve Loxton, Mike Jarvis, Will Fletcher and Des Taviner.

Jonathan Fox - Senior Crown Prosecutor and one time boyfriend of Gina Gold. He left Gina because she wouldn't commit right as she was about to commit to him. Louise Campbell - Borough Commander
Ian Barrett - Borough Commander - tried to blackmail PC Dan Casper into ending his affair with his wife, Rochelle. Ended up getting Dan held at gunpoint and left Sun Hill alongside his wife.
Amanda Prosser - acting Superintendent whilst Adam took time off following the death of his family in an RTA. Upset a bereaved father who then took her hostage at gunpoint and caused a siege at Sun Hill (second live episode)
Rowanne Morell - DI/DCI who came in to investigate a case and then came in as cover for Neil whilst he took some time off after his father in law's death/end of his marriage.
Andrew Ross - DCI if I remember rightly he was part of MIT and kept coming over for murders - the Serial Killer/Des's Fire bombing/Cathy's murders etc.
Frank Keane - DCI from MIT. Rubbed everyone up the wrong way and thought the sun shone out of his daughter - Emma's - arse.
Karen Lacy - stuck up DI from SO15 who immediately alienated most of Sun Hill after Emma's death by refusing to let her friends in uniform help and would only let them man a cordon and then told Jack that CID could only help if EVERYTHING was ran through her and came back to her and her alone.
Tom Baker - TREV which was a fan coined term that stands for Totally Reliable Extra Veteran'. Tom was an outstanding back up CID member for over a thousand episodes. He's even in the Guiness Book Of World Records for it.
Terry Knowles - Terry was a Special Constable who idolised Des and wanted to be like him. He tried to copy how he'd seen him pick up a woman and flirted at a blonde in a convertible. Unfortunately it all went wrong when she stabbed him in the neck and severed his jugular and he died, leaving a 2 year old son fatherless.
Doug Wright - husband of Sgt Nikki Wright. Nikki transferred to Sun Hill when she got fed up of the confusion over two Sgt Wright's and then having to work opposing shifts. He's based at Sun Hill but they cross over to police a football match. Sadly Doug ends up getting stabbed and they realise there's a Cop Killer on the loose after he taunts them and goes on to murder new recruit Billy Rowan on his very first day.
Mark Rollin - Lance Powell's Boyfriend/Fiance/Civil Partner/Husband. Mark is a Sgt in CO19 and keeps his sexuality hidden to avoid the banter and bullying. He goes to pieces after shooting dead Jeff Clarke and he and Lance separate - only for Lance to go out drinking to try cheer himself up and be murdered.
Steve Hodges - an irritating little man who was the Detective Superintendent at CIB at the time that Claire Stanton was undercover trying to get information to prove that Don Beech was corrupt. He expected Claire to pull evidence out her arse and moaned constantly.
Rachel Kitson - Crime Scene Photographer who murdered old school friend turned Super Model Cindy Statham. She got away with it and someone else was accused and locked up...but then Jo went back and looked at the footage again as she had a niggling feeling. Rachel realised she was on to her and took her hostage at gunpoint. It was Stuart getting suspicious when he received a text calling him 'hun' and realising that something was very wrong that saved her life with seconds to go.
Important Reoccurring Characters (Civilians):
Rod Jessop - June's second husband after Jim. He is a headteacher and a good man who has 2 children of his own. At first June isn't too sure as she thinks he's a little too keen but she warms to him and they fall in love and take early retirement together.
Irene Radford - Mother of Karl, Wayne and David Radford, a large crime family with a history going back decades with Gina. She takes Gina hostage at one point and she and David are literally seconds from killing Smithy and Kerry at another point!
Louise Larson - Wife of Pete Larson. Unhappily married but settled until she met Smithy. Feisty, sarcastic and full of one liners, she kept him on his toes and they wanted to leave after she agreed to give evidence (Pete was arrested after almost murdering Smithy. I'm sensing a theme here).
Abi Nixon - The cause of Sam shrieking "MY DAUGHTER!!!!!" Had a fling with Matt Boyden - as you do. Then ended up pregnant and engaged to Hugh Wallis - a profiler - who manipulated Abi into it as revenge. He forced Sam to think her daughter was a victim of the Serial Killer. She keeps the baby and her relationship with her mother improves.
Cindy Hunter - Phil Hunter's wife who sees all he does on the side and - usually forgives him, even when a major criminal demands he be allowed to sleep with Cindy. Gregory doesn't force her to sleep with him but does take degrading pictures of her to wind Phil up. She still forgives him... but she can't get past finding out he has a daughter with another major criminals wife when they are trying for a baby of their own and they finally split.
Jenny Delaney - The girlfriend of George Garfield at first, Jenny is the nurse who looks after Dave Quinnan when he is attacked and left for dead in a youth club. She and Dave fall in love and have an affair which ends up in George leaving Sun Hill. They marry but do not get their happily ever after as Dave and Polly grow closer... and closer...
Kristen Shaw - Drug dealer who Zain goes undercover to catch and he ends up falling for her. She accidentally murders Honey by shooting her when the gun goes off in a struggle (Honey was trying to get Zain to do the right thing and arrest her with him). Zain reluctantly puts Honey's body in the water and they try to escape but in the end he can't go through with it and refuses to get on the boat with her to escape. He removed the bullets from her gun and so both end up arrested.
James Tennant - The father of Amy Tennant. This storyline goes on forever for over a year and Neil and James get close and become good friends through it before Amy is found.

They fall in love and in a whirlwind romance they get married.... only for Honey to realise that Scott actually murdered his first wife!
Laura Meadows - Jack's long suffering wife who put up with a lot, including affairs. It comes to a head when Jack - in full midlife crisis mode - thinks he's in love with Debbie McAllister and wants to support her and her new baby. Debbie thinks of him mostly as a father figure and is horrified when he finally puts the moves on.
Lilian Rickman - Cass' mum is devastated when her daughter is killed by the Sun Hill Serial Killer. She travels down and bonds with the team and later invites them to the funeral in Liverpool which some travel up to and then have to go straight on shift once they get back to London. She later returns to tie up the sale of Cass' flat and she and Tony grow closer and end up sleeping together.
Marie Graham/Carver - The bereaved mother whos daughter killed herself after being accused of sleeping with underage students. She's an alcoholic who seemed to understand Jim and all his problems... and then started to abuse him 2 days after their marriage. (he should have known it was a bad omen when he and June almost kissed the day of the wedding when trapped with Polly and Tony!)He is accused of abusing her before he ends up in hospital (Gabriel hit him over the back of the head with a vodka bottle - long story) and he cracks under accusations and shows his many wounds. He leaves Marie and goes on to recover and get back together with June... only for Marie to turn up on THEIR wedding day and cause a scene at the reception and then fall down the stairs and knock herself out. Jim, with a sprained ankle, ends up going into hospital too!
Pauline Smith - Smithy's mum seen in Killer On The Run. His father was an abusive drunk who used to knock her and Smithy around until Smithy was old enough to go out with his friends. Smithy has little to do with his unnamed father and next to no contact. She adores her son and is very proud of him. They are close and Smithy has a key to her house. He also had an unnamed little brother as a PC (mentioned in Soft Talking) but this seemed forgotten when he returned as a Sgt.
