Imagine if Telemachus looked a bit like Sinclair. Would retranslate all of Outis interactions with latter.
Girl is living the 'harsh emotionally distant dad' life vicariously through her 19 year old coworker who is probably the same age as her son who she probably hasn't seen ever since he was a tot. To Páthos Máthos or sumthin

@fitia not only did I not say any of this, I also don't believe this in the slightest. maybe its on me for not putting a star and saying "obv not all X or Y" but my post is complaining about a specific experience with a specific type of person because i was ranting about what I'd just witnessed/experienced. like idk maybe that context and the other personal contexts i'm speaking from dont matter to you and that other person but youre also very much reading an ideology that i do not hold and that frankly doesnt exist in the original post

sometimes I think why do my stupidest posts always take off. but then I realise whenever a post starts taking off I also start finding it stupid. like an inverse relationship between the amount of notes on my post & my opinion of it. that and the fact that tumblr users really love stupid posts

said a prayer for Jjong today.
#shinee#jonghyun#idk i don't usually yk. do things like that for people that have passed but it's been six years and it felt fitting somehow#six years ago i was what. 12 about to turn 13???? had already been to a fair bit of funerals but the only ones that had hit me before#this one were the pianist at our church who passed away suddenly from a heart attack and the regional club leader who had cancer#for like three years and passed just as the doctors thought she would go into remission#and those both happened around October/November so. going into the winter season has always been hard for me and Jjong#was no different.#it's gotten better slowly but it still hurts sometimes. some days i wake up and i can't even look at any of his pictures other days#i get up and put his albums on loop and laugh and reblog so many of his antics#it's funny bc when my aunt passed on New Year's in 2019 it was exactly two weeks after the 1st anniversary date rolled around. always has#been but i never noticed until we lost her and we had to go down for the funeral and i basically disappeared off the internet for a good#two to four months sans queue and checking in on Discord and sh*t and that year he managed to keep me sane. sounds f*cked up#but that year it was just me and Spotify and my playlists and Jjong's voice amid it all. i wish i could meet him and tell him in person#that he practically saved my life even tho the fandom was still raw af from losing him but the prayer will have to be enough#you did well Jjong. you worked so hard. you are our pride. love you to the moon and back 🌒🌙 <333

Tw described death, minor mention of weight, drugs, trauma
So two of our traumaversaries are coming up. The second one, our biomom, still really hurts. Idk if we'll ever truly forgive our aunt, her sister and drug supplier, who we feel let our mother down - when our mom accidentally OD'd, it was at that aunt's place, with drugs that aunt supplied.
But right now, what we're feeling most keenly, is over our favorite uncle. The painful part is we can't remember his name. We loved him to bits as a child and we can't remember his name, or his face. It's not exactly like we can call up our dad and be like, hey, remember your brother who died in that hunting accident when he fell out of a tree and broke his neck? What was his name again?
It's weird though. Took us awhile to be able to climb a tree again after that, but we used a rule of thumb: never trust a branch thinner than your wrist. And we applied that, symbolically, to other situations - mostly in hindsight after trusting what we shouldn't have trusted:
Don't trust people who might break and let you down.
Don't trust situations where you could be hurt if your composure breaks.
Don't trust in facts you can't 100% depend on.
We try, around this time of year especially, to live up to the lessons we've learned from those two. Learned to be wary of things we can get addicted to from our mom. Learned to climb with caution from our uncle. And we try to live a life they'd be proud of. I think our mom especially would be proud of our progress from shy little twig of a kid to confident... Uh... "well rounded" adult. We're not particularly outdoorsy like our uncle was, but we're at least no longer pale as a piece of paper now.
But it's hard, still, when we feel so guilty for forgetting that uncle's name.

most days I feel like most of what I do in terms of trying to accommodate other disabled people is just. the bare minimum. even though I know that I do stuff that other people don’t, it doesn’t feel like I’m putting in any particular effort beyond just... basic decency and compassion. it feels like the people who don’t are failing to perform basic decency and compassion, y’know?
and most of the time the responses I get feel in line with that. just other people recognising basic decency when performed. a nod, a “thank you”, where appropriate, mostly just unacknowledged because it’s not something that needs acknowledged. it’s the same kind of response I tend to give
but sometimes I get a response that’s just heartbreaking and that always pushes me to keep paying attention and keep trying to do more because if so many other people are going to fail at basic kindness then somebody’s got to pick up the slack and if I don’t, who will?
#this is mostly a vent post but you can reblog if you want#if I get bothered by reblogs I now have the option to Simply Turn Them Off#this post was prompted by the fact that a couple of weeks ago#I asked one of my volunteer teammates what his preference was for when I did the written version of the interview we're going to do together#would he prefer I transcribe his speech exactly as he said it with his stammer included#or would he prefer I write it as the questions are written in our notes?#and he gave me the WIDEST eyed look and went ''you can DO that?''#before saying he ABSOLUTELY wants it written exactly as he says it on the day ''if that's okay''#and I just. that should NOT have been the response. that should NOT be such a surprise to him#writing a transcript of his speech exactly as he said it should be the STANDARD EXPECTATION#I knew it wasn't that's why I ASKED but it should not have been such a shock to BE asked#and I think about when I was in college and got accomodation for my auditory processing issues for the first time#and the way I felt when I realised that this was me FINALLY for the FIRST TIME on even footing#and just. the way that that felt.#and I'm not saying that every single form of accomodation is simple or basic or easy#some is difficult and requires significant effort and not everyone is in a position to do it#but being patient and respectful and /ASKING PEOPLE/ THEIR NEEDS AND PREFERENCES#should not be something that so often seems to be a rare treat for the recipient#an untrained twenty-three year old should not be a more conscientous guide for a blind teenager than her professional school aide yknow?#hhhhhhhhh it's two am and I'm having Feelings

Sources for Somerton's Plagiarism from Hbomberguy's Video (as much as I could get)
I went back through Harry's video, focused entirely on the sources James Somerton pulled from in the hopes of creating as much of a comprehensive list as I could--though my Google-Fu is not very strong. I did however find something I thought was forever lost and that made me very happy--specifically the magazine Midlands Zone containing the column by Steven Spinks that Harry poignantly used as an illustration of gay erasure... while Somerton uses it to sound like HE is waxing remorseful about the very subject.
This is not a complete list, I'm sure. For one thing, I was only able to attempt to pull sources that Harry himself mentioned in the video. Surely there's so very much more out there. I expect there to be a great deal more internet archeology to unearth just how much writing and culture Somerton has stolen like he's the British Museum of Natural History but for gay people.

Harry's list of mentioned youtubers:
Alexander Avila - https://www.youtube.com/@alexander_avila Matt Baume - https://www.youtube.com/@MattBaume Khadija Mbowe - https://www.youtube.com/@KhadijaMbowe Lady Emily - https://www.youtube.com/@LadyEmilyPresents Shanspeare - https://www.youtube.com/@Shanspeare RickiHirsch - https://www.youtube.com/@RickiHirsch VerilyBitchie - https://www.youtube.com/@verilybitchie
Harry created a convenient playlist of videos by these and other people he wants to bring to everyone's attention.
Please give them your support.

Midlands Zone Magazine - Column by Steven Spinks
After a great deal of searching, I found an archive of the "Midlands Zone" magazine, where you can read through past issues dating all the way back to February 2014. I have also found the issue from which Somerton took Spinks' poignant discussion of gay erasure: Overall archive Specific Issue - Pages 16-17
It will not allow you to download it, but you can read it exactly as it appeared in print form.

I refrained from including certain sources.
First off only focusing on Somerton's work.
Secondly not including anything that might be visible enough to not require amplifying their voice (I cannot speak for all of those I have found links to, but journalism is frequently a thankless job).
Thirdly any source that is of a nature that is antithetical to the very existence of the queer community, such as the right-leaning source that didn't make it into Somerton's video, but Harry was able to identify as a source he had considered using.
If you feel I have missed a mentioned source--or you know of a source from material that was not covered in Harry's video--please do not hesitate to reblog with added details.

Please share this information far and wide, and please add to it if you find more material that can be positively identified and linked to the creator/writer.

No but what cracks me up about this post is that the op deleted/replaced their post with an image and several links with the funniest display of zero reading comprehension in the tags, presumably because the two (2) people in that reblog chain dared to disagree with them. lmfao

girls when poe has a personality that isn't being obsessed with a man he's had maybe ten scenes with in the first two movies and has his own agency and doesn't always agree with his mentor instead of bending over backwards to constantly say she's right (when she isn't):
