Am I the only one that thinks Riko might have turned out to be a bit of a better person of Nathaniel was put in the nest? Like Ik he never had the option to be a good person *grooming* but I feel like he would have seen and heard enough about neils/nathans relationship, which would be his closest connection to the main branch Kengo/Ichirou, and just seen it for what it was and not try so hard to seen above everyone to earn their validation.....just a thought.

"Kevin."

Neil was calling his name, but Kevin couldn't hear him. All he could focus on was the pain in his hand, growing by the second. It was bleeding; he was sure of it, even if there was nothing to see.

It was mottled and tarnished, filled with raised scars from a brother filled with jealously. It had been years since his hand has been broken, but the pain felt like yesterday.

"Look at me," Neil asked, a request so soft Kevin couldn't refuse.

A pair of eyes so familiar locked onto his, blue lagoons that Kevin could get lost in time and time again. They settled his heart, soothed his wounds with gentle waves of calmness.

"He's dead, Kevin," Neil stated; it was fact. "We won. We survived. Both of us did."

Taking Kevin's trembling left hand in his own, Neil placed gentle kisses to each scar. They were the best medicine, the only thing that could fix a pain that didn't really exist.

"Each of these scars is proof you survived," Neil muttered between kisses. "Don't be ashamed of the happiness you fought for."

If anyone knew, it was Neil. Neil who had suffered so much horror at the hands of those who should have kept him safe. Neil who helped Kevin find freedom, even when he himself had to stay behind in the nest alone. Neil who was covered in scars, but was somehow so beautiful.

Kevin needed to stop hiding from ghosts.
