The Marvels is such a delightful movie.

It’s also so unique in the modern superhero genre that it exists without love interests at all (well,,, there are some implied fruity ones). It’s about family and moral obligations and the standard we hold for ourselves versus the one others hold for us. It’s about connection and healing and reconciling. It’s about being able to say sorry and being able to accept our own faults and wrongdoings.

I just love it so much. People can be as mad as they want about lines like “black girl magic” as if that wasn’t the funniest in character line Fury could have possibly said in that moment. It’s on my comfort movie rotation now.

i get shipping carol and valkyrie, and i am all for them being a friends with benefits type.

but honestly, my heart is still with carol and maria, because of all the missed time and memories.

how all carol wanted was to be with maria and monica, but couldn’t because her work was never finished. and she felt so much shame for how everything she does makes things worse.

and she thought monica wanted her to be a perfect superhero, but all monica wanted was her other mom back home.

the only time carol was able to return was the time maria learned she had cancer but lost monica.

i am just full of feelings for this little family done bad by lost time, bad timing, and lost memories.
