Korean Male Model Jun Appears As a Race Ambassador For the First Race of the New Season's Super GT in Okayama On Sunday

The first round of Super GT was held at the Okayama International Circuit in Okayama Prefecture from April 13th to 14th. Various regulations have changed for Super GT, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2024, but this season, the gender designation of the race queen that has graced the circuit has been abolished, and the name has been changed. Already in the first race, a male "Race Ambassador" has appeared as part of the TGR Team Eneos Rookie team, which will be participating in the GT500 class.

While many Race Ambassadors appeared this season, one person stood out in particular. He is Korean model Park Min-Joon, who goes by the name of Jun. He is the ambassador of AISIN, which sponsors TGR Team Eneos Rookie. According to the team, the appointment of this male Race Ambassador was made by team owner Akio Toyoda of TGR Team Eneos Rookie and AISIN president Moritaka Yoshida.

Due to changes in Super GT regulations in 2024, they decided to give a male Race Ambassador a try. Jun started working at the circuit from April 13th. "I've been nervous since the day of the preliminaries, but I heard that this is the first time there has been a male ambassador, so there's no precedent. I'm trying to figure out what kind of poses I should do as a male model". Jun is actually a huge race car fan. "I love cars that run on gasoline engines more than EVs. I really like the sound of an engine, so coming to the circuit and hearing the sounds of the engines and smell of fuel, I was really excited".

However, the challenge for Jun who works in the world of Super GT both a man and a foreigner, can be said to be an expression of the era of diversity. "I want to continue to do my best in Super GT, and I want to show off my cool side. I want to be able to make the fans smile, and with the feeling of 'I Love Cars!'. I want to do my best to make people who have never been interested in motorsports fall in love with it" Jun said emphatically. Jun has been partnered with female Race Ambassador Yurie Seno, who has previously been a Race Queen for several years. Their unit name is Jun & Etty with AISIN (Etty is Seno's nickname).

Blog Editorial; Please note I will not be posting any images of male Race Attendants besides the rare occasional news item such as this one. However, I do find it interesting that Japanese motorsport has decided to take this path rather than Formula 1's motor racing body, Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), outright discontinuation Grid Girls at all F1 Grands Prix worldwide in 2018 because they were “at odds with modern day societal norms”. Super GT's solution seems far more fair and reasonable for everyone involved, especially the female models. Original news item below;

genuinely though, the fact that nico has never raced in another series is absolute proof that he is content with his decision to leave f1. when you look at the other people in his peer group who have left racing, every single one of them has gone back to racing in some form. jenson and mark did wec after leaving f1. kimi did nascar. fernando did wec and then came back to f1. seb has tested with porsche wec and is openly talking about a potential return to f1. nico has never even considered it.

you know that he still loves racing because he orbits the racing world, as a presenter, as the owner of his own racing team, as a stakeholder in formula e, but he so clearly values his family and the effort they made for him while he was racing, that he has no regrets about leaving for them, no resentment of it. they really are the most important part of his life and he arranges his other commitments around them, not the other way around

Super GT Announces Name Change of "Race Queens" to Tentative Title of "Race Attendant" for 2024 Season

On February 9th, the GT Association (GTA), which promotes Super GT, announced the 2024 Sporting Regulations. The Sporting Regulations include operating regulations regarding Race Queens every year, but from 2024, the term "Race Queen" is to be replaced by the non gender specific term of "Race Attendant", which is currently a tentative title.

In Super GT, race queens have been considered to be a form of entertainment that enlivens the series. In order to improve their status and add value, and at the same time maintain the dignity of Super GT, it was decided the name change was needed.

Until 2023, a Race Queen will be defined as a woman who engages in promotional activities at the tournament venue wearing a costume with a sponsor company logo that is clearly different from that of team staff, or a costume similar to it (Article 1, Section 1 of the Operational Regulations), but from 2024, a person who wears a costume with a sponsor company logo that is clearly different from that of team staff, or a similar costume and engages in promotional activities at the race venue will be classified under the tentative name of "Race Attendant". In addition, the regulations have replaced the term "female" with "person".

The name is still under consideration, as it is tentatively named. This may change in the future.

Race Queens have been an inherit and integral part of Japanese motor sport for several decades. In order to continue into the future, the change was made in consideration of the diversity of modern Japanese society. Although the actual situation may not change immediately, it is likely over time a wide range of people, regardless of gender, will be positioned to engage in Super GT promotional activities in line with modern society.

2023 camera roll: fandom edition

One photo per month of fandom shenanigans that made me so happy this year. Captions under the cut. Happy new year everyone!

January - Max cushion, spotted at a market and immediately purchased. The stallholder proudly told us she'd made it herself. British Max fans in the wild!

February - Get yourself a girlfriend who unknowingly buys you a matching Valentine's Day card 🤣

March - Get yourself a girlfriend who sees they're displaying an RB car at a nearby shopping outlet and demands you have a day out to visit

April - If you have that girlfriend, you gotta propose to her next to the Ross Fountain, with Edinburgh Castle in the background (@strawberry-daiquiris is my favourite thing I've found in fandom)

May - Miami GP watch party at the hotel at Silverstone. An Experience, to say the least. Not sure if our usual race commentary is appropriate for a public watch party...

June - Red Bull Factory drive by (we didn't go in because we aren't millionaires and their tours are £££)

July - Silverstone. Watched quali from Copse and simped over Oscar's P3 interview

August - Zandvoort. Waiting for Driver Interviews at the Fan Stage (simping again)

September - That episode of Unboxed was too powerful for a phone screen

October - Austin. Williams Fan Zone. More simping; don't we all look at Alex Albon the way the Williams media guy does?

November - Watching our Oscar Christmas jumpers cross Europe and hoping they would arrive before 2024 (they did!)

December - Silverstone Winter Tour, got a bus around the track, went up to the podium, walked the pit lane and the starting grid, 10/10 would recommend

What an incredible 2023 I've been lucky enough to have. Thank you to all creators as you exponentially improve the fandom enjoyment experience ❣ here's to more in 2024!
