Nwos poll: Who is going to be the puzzle keeper in Nwos?
Nwos might be getting the return of having a puzzle keeper like in prior games. I don't think Granny Riddleton would be the puzzle keeper as she was officially retired in Unwound/Lost Future, so it may be Puzzlette taking over or someone new.

moth and compass! the project I've been working on with @natdrinkstea this year-and-some!!
I believe I've introduced our dramatis personae — Moth, an Inquisitive Young Protagonist; Goodfellow, a Ghost; Luna, a Lighthouse-Keeper; and Peregrine, an Ordinary Cat — a few times before, but I still don't think we've every really talked about the story!
and that is because it has taken. quite some time to actually figure out what Goeth On in moth and compass proper. it's a mystery-fantasy, that'll probably be best told as a scrapbook or a puzzle game or a thing along those lines*, and a somewhat purposefully-nostalgic ghost story. it's everyday magic and the haunted sea and learning to look beyond what you think is there and bubblegum pop road trips and creepy creatures in the shadows and the kind of navigational equipment that, if you use it just right, might take you places you'd never otherwise be able to see...

hey legit tho, if I can figure out my streaming setup for it, I think it’d be fun to do a baking stream on twitch sometime
this depends on a lot of things ofc (streaming software running on my old laptop, for one) but I have Evil Plans™ that I’ve been thinking about for a while, and hopefully somehow I can get them to happen

I actually really like the thing when you're starting to get the hang of a new language, enough to understand and say simple sentences but you gotta get creative to get more complex thoughts across, like a puzzle. I remember a time in the restortation school when a classmate who wasn't natively finnish but did her best anyway dropped something and sighed, telling me "every day is monday this week. I have had four mondays this week." And I understood.
I don't think I speak much of spanish anymore, but in the nursing school training period I did there, I did manage to get by with making weird Tarzan sentences. I got a nosebleed at some point and startled another nurse. Not knowing the words for "nosebleed", "humidity", or "stress", I managed to string together: "This is ok. It is hot, it is cold, I have a bad day, I am sad, I have blood. This is normal for me." And she understood.
And sometimes you just say things weird, but it's better than not saying it. One time, I was stuck in a narrow hallway behind someone walking really slowly with a walker, and he apologised for being in the way. I was not in any hurry, but didn't know the spanish word for "hurry", but I did know enough words to try to circumvent it by borrowing the english "I have all the time in the world."
The man burst into one of those cackling old man laughters that they do when something in this world still manages to surprise them. He had to be somewhere between 70 and a 100 years old, and I guess if there was one thing he wasn't expecting to hear today, it would be a random blond vaguely baltic-looking fuck casually announce that he is the sole keeper and master of the very concept of time.

Professional Secret Keeper
On occasion, particularly if I am feeling a little childish, when asked what I do for work I have said I am a Professional Secret Keeper and Legal Drug Dealer. The second part is probably fairly obvious. I prescribe people medication, some of which would have a street value if you decided to sell them, and what I do is legal. The first part of my silly job title is a reference to Harry Potter.…

Who's your favorite puzzle keeper?
I'm just curious on who's your favorite puzzle keeper from the series. We had four different characters who kept our missing puzzles safe within the series. Granny Riddleton who has been around since the first game. Granny Riddleton's pet cat Keats who's been in both Last Specter and Azran Legacy. Granny Riddleton's granddaughter Puzzlette from Unwound/Lost Future. Beasley the puzzle bee who is also from Unwound/Lost Future.

Mm today I’m thinking about kidnapped-by-Simon scenarios.
Specifically, I’m thinking about this big scary man essentially treating you like a well-loved zoo animal. Like a rare specimen that needs to be protected. And he is your keeper.
He feeds you, waters you, grooms you. You’re obviously not allowed to roam around! But you’re “enclosure” (an admittedly comfortable but heavily modified safe house) is big and full of enrichment to keep you “happy” and warm and safe.
He knows wild animals are to be treated with respect, even if they’re fragile. They’ll lash out when scared, they just don’t know better, it’s not their fault. So, he’s endlessly patient with you, coos when you get your teeth in his hand, gently croons “oh I know, you’re big and scary” when you scratch at his arm. When you demand he lets you go, he soothes “it’s not safe out there, you have to stay here.”
He uses his stealth to his advantage to just watch you wander about your pretty cage sometimes. Curled up with books. Picking through the pantry for snacks. Running off frustration on a treadmill. Putting together puzzles or watching tv.
Sometimes he just sits. At first you skitter off to another room, shocked he doesn’t follow and impose himself. Soon you realize it’s safe to stay, but keep a healthy distance, eyeing him in distrust. He’ll speak at you without expecting a response, never tries to coax you closer or approaches.
Eventually YOU get curious about HIM. You start to respond when he speaks, even if you glare when he smiles like you’re a cute chattering bird. You inch closer and closer, because he speaks so quietly and there’s only so much you can stand your own company.
One day he comes in with a bunch of bags. You poke your head around the kitchen door, eyes narrowed as he pulls things out. Flour, sugar, vanilla….
“Are you baking?” It’s the first time you’ve initiated. He carefully doesn’t look up.
“You are, if you want.”
A long beat of silence. “What am I baking?”
“Whatever you like. I’ll pull up a recipe.”
You decide on a cake. You want something sweet. He prints out a recipe from his phone and lets you snatch it from his hand, stands back to watch you work. You even let him mix for you when your arm gets tired, backing only just out of reach this time.
And when the cake is done, you let him have a piece, muttering a sullen “thank you” that he’s quick to reward with a gentle “good girl”. Your nose scrunches, but he notes the way your cheeks flush as you flounce off in a fit of haughty embarrassment.

slowly playing more and more outright horror thief fms as someone who is very, very bad at horror in games. finally beat rose cottage a bit ago as i mentioned, but the second level of the scarlet cascabel is still too much for me. RIP. scawy. specifically once you enter the abandoned wing, like i did the regular hotel segment happily and loved it but. something about the elementals freaks me the fuck out, i can do haunts for the most part but the patrolling elemental in the abandoned wing made me actually quit the game i couldnt LGKSJFG i was already on edge after the chase segment like you cant do that to me and then an elemental. wailing

The Bolthole by aideomai, Tepre, and GallaPlacidia
I'm absolutely thrilled to finally share my first fic bind here on Tumblr! I completed this bind back in November, and it introduced me to so many wonderful people.
You can find pictures and detailed explanations of my process under the cut.
This is "The Bolthole" by Aideomai, Tepre, and (formerly) GallaPlacidia on Ao3. The cover design is adapted from "The Little Brother" (1902) by Josiah Flynt. The typeset is my own.
Tumblr media
I fell in love with this cover the moment I saw it, and wanted to try to recreate it with book cloth. As a hobbyist book binder, I like to try to revitalize older designs from the public domain. There are so few copies of this book left in the world, so I thought it would be fun to give it new life as the cover of a contemporary story.
The cover is made out of three different colors of book cloth from the Allure and Verona lines. The book cloth and endpapers were bought from Hollander's.
I used my Cameo 4 and a strong tack mat to cut the design out of each color of book cloth. I then assembled the pattern like a puzzle. It was MUCH harder than it sounds! Some of the pieces were incredibly thin and fragile, and they were difficult to keep track of.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the foiling, I used my Cameo 4 and the We R Memory Keepers fine tip foil quill for everything but the spine, which I did by hand. I foiled immediately after I cut, without removing my mat from the machine. This helped me line everything up. It did not, however, prevent me from sweating bullets as my machine worked.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This method was, frankly, torture, but I'm really glad that I tried it. Now that I've had a nice long break, I'd like to try it again soon. I love running my hands over this book, and the texture of the book cloth feels wonderful under my fingertips. I do, however, have a few words of caution. Do not try this out unless you have book cloth to burn! Here are some pictures of just a few of my failures.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Cameo 4 is not your friend. Your cut-outs can and will get fucked up for no reason. If the mat isn't sticky enough, or the blade isn't sharp enough, or the fabric doesn't adhere properly, your design could get completely shredded. I strongly recommend that you avoid Verona book cloth, or anything with a paper backing and loose fibers. It was absolute hell to work with. When it wasn't shredded by the machine, it was fraying like crazy. Acrylic coated cloth is the way to go if you want clean lines. And, you know, your sanity intact.
This was my most challenging bind to date, but I learned a lot! Aside from experimenting with book cloth, automated foiling, and my Cameo 4, it was also my first time formatting, printing, and sewing a text block. I'm incredibly grateful for all of the online tutorials and wonderful people who helped me make this bind a reality!

Also Carnival!Gami !!! They're the 'shop keeper' of sorts. The player can receive various prizes by winning oragami-centered mini games. The games are simple folding puzzles with Gami using their body as a step-by-step guide for the player. Once the player successfully folds the oragami, they are rewarded with an upgrade or other items that could make the boss rooms a little easier.
I love this au so much I wanted to make something showtime related but I'm just so sleepy. Thank u so much for bringing this au to this world @sm-baby every time you post I know I'll be eating well 🙏🛐💗💕💗💞
