Purple hyacinth theory
Dylan’s dad is the leader:
-never saw a body
-he deliberately sent Dylan and Lauren away before the explosion
-he knew the Sinclairs
-snapdragons represent deception and graciousness, and Dylan’s dad was a florist
-doyalist reason: it wouldn’t make sense for a character with so much intrigue and mystique to be revealed to be some random dude nobody has ever seen before, so with march (probably), redcliff, Tristan and Dakan (hopefully) out of the running, Dylan’s dad could be a prime suspect
-this would be incredibly angsty and traumatic for everyone involved, so you know Soph and Eph would be all for that
(Idk though how this would work with the theory that Dylan himself was Kieran’s friend…)

My theories/hopes for Purple Hyacinth Season 3 part 2!
(It’s 4am and my head is too full of jumbled PH thoughts to sleep, so here you go)
After the news of Lauren’s kidnapping drops, I hope we will get
A) a team-up of Will, Kim, Tristan and Dakan
and
B) a team-up of Kieran, Neyra and Belladonna (either where K and N break B out of the Tower or where she breaks out on her own and N convinces her to help them save Lauren)
as they work from different angles to try and find her.
Through these team-ups I hope to get more Kywi, Dastan and Bellarcy content (obviously) as well as platonic relationship development between Kieran and Bella as they observe the other be vulnerable for and around their respective partners.
These groups will hopefully then merge (most likely through Neyra or Kieran) and interesting revelations will be had (re. Neyra’s not being dead and/or Kieran’s serious ties to the PS).
If Lauren has been kidnapped by the 7th Apostle, that means he now has leverage over the Chief of Police, the King’s Right Hand and the freakin’ Purple Hyacinth, which will create some heckin good drama, especially if the Redcliff Ball is still going ahead and we have no real idea what his plans are.
Lauren will meanwhile have to come to terms with the realisations she made about herself at the end of the mid-season finale, including having to find an answer to “Dylan’s” question of “What will be left when this blind quest is stripped away from you?” I suspect these thoughts may put her out of commission for a little bit, but she will never the less use the opportunity of her imprisonment to learn vital intel and search for escape.
Tumblr media
I also hope we get flashbacks to the massacre at the print shop (my theories are that Thalia Lin and Annabelle March were both killed there but that it’s possible that Will’s dad saw Lauren’s parents there and chose to let them go, possibly after the argument he alluded to at their funeral).
Tumblr media
Also this may be an unpopular opinion, but I think Dakan may have ties to the Phantom Scythe (or at the very least, to the Snapdragon). I don’t know what it is about him, but he remains sus in my eyes. The words he spoke at the funeral of Lauren’s parents were just vague enough to not come off as lying, not to mention that the queen seems to seriously suspect him of something or other (putting aside the fact that she sucks, I don’t think she would be that hostile toward him for no reason).
Tumblr media
We also saw that Apostle 4 has bright blue eyes, though I think Dakan has a different shade (not to mention skin tone), so that’s neither here nor there.
Tumblr media
In any case, these are all just fun conjectures and thoughts that I think would be cool to see in part 2 of Season 3. Do you guys have some of your own😁?

Ok I don't understand how kym and will don't suspect Kieran being Lauren's partner in crime, because when he gave the alibi that they were at the restaurant , it would be disproven later when they find that Lauren is Lune which makes that an obvious lie ?? Like she can't be on a date and be lune at the same time meaning that Kieran would be the obvious suspect??
What do you guys think?

Kieran’s Backstory (Updated)
Tumblr media
Wow, Season 3 of PH is loaded with backstory information! It’s been fascinating to learn more about our favorite characters. But it’s especially intriguing to gain insight into the most important character, Kieran White, aka the Purple Hyacinth.
New Backstory Info
Throughout this season we learn some interesting things about our favorite murder boy:
He was a slave of Apostle 10 (Ep. 131, Salient Scars)
He cut off his own brand 😧 (Ep. 131)
He was kidnapped and forced to join the PS (Ep. 135, Intimate Information)
He used to be a street painter (Ep. 135)
He was mistaken for another target (Ep. 135)
He killed Apostle 10 during an attempted escape (Ep. 136, Gnarly Guilt)
His current mission is to bring down the PS from within (Ep. 135)
While I don’t believe there’s enough evidence to show that he was kidnapped during the ATST, I do think he was one of several children who were kidnapped before then. (I could be wrong, though) Likely, the PS were looking for the one child to blackmail their target. Those innocent children were then branded as slaves to Apostle 10 and trained to become active members of the PS.
The Protectee
We also get introduced to this symbol:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since Kieran seems to be self-taught, it’s likely he learned this symbol through a book and used it as a talisman to protect whomever is with him. This person was probably one of the children who were taken at Allendale (Dylan?) and was also Kieran’s closest friend.
In Ep. 136, we learn that they attempted to escape together. This event caused the Leader to realize the potential in Kieran, and the PS ordered Kieran to make an impossible choice: end his suffering and also his friend’s life, or join the PS. It is at this point that Kieran cuts off his brand and joins the PS to save this person's (Dylan's?) life.
Considering his nightmare and current thoughts concerning Lauren, I believe that the protectee was eventually killed. Kieran's reaction to the mysterious picture in his drawing room also evidences that theory.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kieran may have done something that he believes resulted in the protectee's death, similar to how Lauren feels responsible for Dylan's death/disappearance by her silence and sending him back to the train station. Also similar to Lauren, Kieran’s main motivation to end the Phantom Scythe seems to be wrapped up in this friend who died too soon.
Theory Summary
In this season, we learn that Kieran was kidnapped and held captive by Apostle 10. After a failed escape attempt, Kieran was forced to join the Phantom Scythe to protect his friend. It’s likely that that friend was one of the children who were kidnapped at Allendale and that he was eventually killed by the PS, leading Kieran to resolve to end the PS from the inside.

Throwback to the proudest moment of my time in the Purple Hyacinth Fandom
Tumblr media
I made this all the way back in Season one in the first discord server for Fans when Eph or Soph themselves would come in and answer questions every once in a while. I sent a theory on the official Theories Channel.

Episode 133 theory - Was Daena a spy?
In episode 18, Lunatic Lovers, we found out Daena died on November 14th xx17 some time past 1AM. This is only hours after the ATST, happening on November 13th, which has stayed suspicious since we learnt of it. In 133 we got another small glimpse inside of Kym’s backstory, and we learn Daena Ladell was a police officer, like many of us speculated way before in season 1 when Kym was shaken by Harvey’s death.
Tumblr media
Another new thing we learn is from Kym telling Lauren: “Yeah. It was an ‘accident’. One among so many others.” It seems she doesn’t quite believe these words, but that she had forced herself to accept it to be able to move on. She wonders if she should have kept searching for the truth, just like Lauren is doing for Dylan, further reinforcing this. While we don’t know how Daena died, the fact that Kym expresses such hesitancy does point to her death being ambiguous.
Daena couldn’t tell Kym anything about what was going on because she wanted to protect her little sister. Kym felt powerless and the next moment her sister was dead. Kym recognizes her sister in Lauren, partly because she’s once again left in the dark, but possibly also because of Lauren’s mission as Lune reminding her of her sister, as if she too had work outside her duties as police officer. Either as a double agent, or as a spy.
Now, how did Daena die and who was responsible for her death? Was it the PS or the royals? The pocket watch probably stopped working when it fell out of Daena’s hand or jacket, similar to what happens when Kym collapses at the end of the episode. Is this a deliberate parallel and are Eph and Soph telling us Daena got poisoned? Not to mention Kym first talks about her sister in episode 77 titled “Poisonous Past”. Coincidence?
TLDR: We think it’s likely that Daena was a spy in the PS for the APD or double agent and she died while protecting Kym from something or someone, possibly due to poison.

Ok so.
I think Dakan will betray Lauren and or Tristan will die. Hear me out
I don’t know how popular this theory is, it could be the general consensus people have drawn already but idk cause I literally never write theories.
Alright so I’m chapter 119 Dakan tell Tristan Lauren made croissants with the made, normal enough. But then Lauren says later to Kieran that her made woke her up, implying she was sleeping before coming. I’m guessing something sus is happening with the croissants, drugging, poison or something else idk.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s also another thing. It’s smaller though
In ep 82 she has a flash back to the fortune teller warning her about traitors being close to her. In the flashes Lauren has, Dakans the only person smiling. Again, I could be reading too much into things but I’m paranoid of every supporting character at this point.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I feel there’s probably more tidbits of evidence I could find but my memory sucks so I’m too lazy to find it.
From a plot perspective I’m not sure it makes much sense for dakan to betray them though, but maybe I’m biased cause I really like his and Tristan’s relationship. He could be part of the PS somehow, but he seemed surprised when Lauren told them her parents were part of the PS (then again it could have been acting.) the royals seem to suspect him too, and they were rightly suspicious about Redcliff so maybe they could be right again. Who knows. (By that logic Tristan would be part of PS too but idk anymore)
Authors note
Honestly this is more of a collection of thoughts than an actual theory but here we are. If you have any other thoughts or ideas send em in please I love this WEBTOON so much I could write abt it for agessss. Imma open my ask box I thinkkk feel free to write things.

looking very closely at the website neighborhood and here's some little things i noticed (plus some overthinking & flower symbolism):
~ the only butterflies on the "map" are the ones outside of Frank's house, and the single one outside of Eddie's.
~~ i think the flowers outside of Eddie's are either hyacinths or lavender. given that the flowers are different colors, they're probably hyacinths. which is a Fascinating choice to me, because hyacinths can symbolize regret, devotion (especially beyond death), love, forgiveness, and jealousy - depending on the flower color. Eddie has light blue, dark blue, and purple. The butterfly is landing on the purple one (sorrow, mourning, forgiveness, regret, devoted love).
~~ its also Fascinating because the myth behinds hyacinths is about the greek god Apollo and his (male) human lover, Hyacinthus. they were playing discus (metal frisbee). Apollo threw the discus too hard, and it bounced back and hit Hyacinthus, killing him. devastated, Apollo grew the hyacinth flower from Hyacinthus' spilled blood. SO THE FACT THAT EDDIE, GAY PUPPET EDDIE, HAS HYACINTH FLOWERS OUTSIDE THE POST OFFICE IS UM. INCH RESTING!
~~ (also also in the myth, Apollo wanted to rescind his immortality to join Hyacinthus in his death. and in an alternate version of the myth, Hyacinthus was technically murdered, because Zephyrus was jealous that Apollo preferred a mortal over him & purposefully blew the discus off course to strike Hyacinthus. things to think about. yes, in this whole myth metaphor im viewing Eddie as Hyacinthus and Frank as Apollo. do with this what you will)
~ All of the trees in the neighborhood are in the same general style, except for the tree outside of Sally's home, which is a pine tree. i wonder why!
~ the only buildings with second floors are Barnaby's, Frank's, Sally's, and Poppy's homes. rip the "wally falls down the stairs" memes
~ there's a teeny tiny Home in the post office display window
~ Julie's house has quite a lot of heart symbolism. like, a weird amount. an amount to the point where i now have an entire theory around what her role and arc might be. i Will talk about it with minimal prompting.
~ one of the swingset balloons has a happy face balloon with its eyes closed, which stands out to me (and fuels my julie theory)
~ the only neighbors who don't have flowers outside of their buildings are Sally, Julie (disregarding decoration), and Howdy.
~ Poppy has daffodils, which symbolize rebirth, new beginnings, resilience, and hope. however, they have a negative side of selfishness.
~ Barnaby has red, yellow, and blue tulips. red means undying love, admiration, and truth. yellow means "there's sunshine in your smile", joy, happiness, friendship - But it can also mean unrequited love or jealousy. Blue means individuality, trust, and good luck
~~ note that there's a dead/trampled white tulip. white tulips symbolize sorrow, "my condolences", apology, honor, purity, faith.
~ Frank has sunflowers, daisies, and some others, but those i think are more generic, unspecific flowers for added decoration. i couldn't find a "red flower on vine" that fits the general look of the ones on his house. now, sunflowers symbolize adoration, loyalty, longevity, happiness (also, might i add that these flowers are from another greek myth about apollo, this one where Apollo turns a jealous nymph into a sunflower for snitching on his mortal lover, which got her (the lover) killed. inch resting indeed.)
~~ also blue daisies, which i am assuming are the blue flowers outside his house, symbolize freedom, trust, loyalty, confidence, and honesty. lots of positivity surrounding Frank's house!
~ Wally has daisies. these symbolize innocence, purity, new beginnings, hope, and affection. it can also symbolize the ability to keep a secret. a fun fact i found interesting is the word daisy comes from an old english word meaning "day's eye."
~~ do i believe these flower choices were purposeful? maybe. probably. it does seem strange that there are specific, distinct flowers drawn in equally specific parts of the "map", while a couple of generic "cartoon" style flowers are sprinkled throughout
~ three green apples are growing on the tree next to Howdy's Place
~ it stands out to me that the bodega window above the fruit stands is completely blacked out. no window shine or nothing
~ Sally's "yard" is weirdly barren. everyone else's buildings (excluding Home) has several things decorating the surrounding area. all she has is a spotlight and a tree.
~ Barnaby's house having paint all over it (and a paintbrush & can next to it) is just cute to me. it makes me think that he wanted to paint like his lil' buddy Wally and just went ham with it. or it was a team effort between them<3
~ it took me a while to notice the tiny "Eddie's" painted above Post Office. it gives the vibe (to me) of him tacking on the "Eddie's" to make the office feel more like his. maybe he saw the sign "Howdy's Place" and decided to paint his name on his building to make himself feel more established and at home
~ there's something on / part of Frank's roof. i don't know what it is. if anyone has an idea please tell me its driving me insane. at first i thought it was a chimney but theres two? making an additional symmetrical structure? idk!!
~ there are only three buildings with straight up rainbows. Eddie's post office (hanging from the roof and in the window), Sally's house (the entire front), and Frank's house (butterfly on the door wreath. i almost didn't catch it, it's a sneaky one!)

Purple hyacinth fans, what are some crack/bad/funny theories you have?
Here’s some of mine:
-Dylan’s dad is the leader
-March has a twin brother; that’s who was monologuing and got shot at the end of season 3; one of them is still out there as the leader
-Dylan is the leader, who replaced the leader dread pirate Roberts style
-The leader is an evil clone of Kieran

Hyacinthus Iceberg Meme EXPLAIN (P3)
Part 1 ✿ Part 2 ✿ Part 3 ✿ Part 4 ✿ Part 5
It's time for me to answer your questions about this Hyacinthus iceberg meme. There is a lot to tackle, so I'll divide it into 5 parts for the sake of my sanity.
Quick disclaimer: I am NOT an expert in Greek mythology, just a fan of Hyacinthus who wants to learn about him and anyone related to him. Most of the things I'm about to discuss are just theories and speculations of a passerby on the Internet, so do not take them as valid facts!
Daphne is Hyacinthus' sister
There is only one poet who wrote about Daphne being Hyacinthus' sister. Well, it's not explicitly stated but he claimed Daphne was a daughter of King Amyclas and lived in Laconia, so it's not hard to piece it all together.
"This is how the story of Daphne, the daughter of Amyklas (Amyclas), is related. [...] But she got together a large pack of hounds and used to hunt either in Lakonia (Laconia) or sometimes going into the further mountains of the Peloponnese." - Parthenius, "Love Romances"
I have a joke headcanon that Apollo loves Hyacinthus because he looks like Daphne (Hya's sister) and Hyacinthus loves Apollo because he looks like Thamyris (Apollo's grandson).
Some K-drama angsty level of romance, eh?
The accurate hyacinth flower???
This has been a debate for quite a while now. Is the flower born from Hyacinthus' death the modern hyacinth or a different flower?
Tumblr media
Even though most of us settle for the widely-known purple hyacinth (the flowers above), many argue that the flower can also be a larkspur, an iris, or a martagon lily.
I admit I prefer Hyacinthus' flower being the purple hyacinth or at least a similar ancestor. It's because Athena used to give Odysseus a curly hairstyle like the hyacinths, and that description is similar to the modern flower.
[...] Athena poured beauty on [Odysseus]— her abundance made him taller and more robust to look at. Then, on his head, she transformed his hair, so it flowed in curls like fresh hyacinths in bloom. - Homer, "The Odyssey"
Here is a detail that got me pondering.
In the "Abduction of Persephone" myth, when Persephone is returned to Demeter, she tells her mother about the abduction and we have this:
"[...] we were playing and gathering sweet flowers in our hands, soft crocuses mingled with irises and hyacinths, and rose-blooms and lilies, marvelous to see, and the narcissus which the wide earth caused to grow yellow as a crocus." - Homeric Hymn 2 to Demeter
So Persephone is collecting flowers when she is taken, and one of those flowers is the hyacinth. It's unexpected to think Apollo and Hyacinthus got together before the seasons were a thing.
Zephyrus wears hyacinths on his flower wreath
There is one account I can find that talks about this detail.
"You can see [Zephyrus], I think, with his winged temples and his delicate form; and he wears a crown of all kinds of flowers, and will soon weave the hyacinth in among them." - Philostratus the Elder, "Imagines"
It might be a simple thing, but it had me thinking. Does Zephyrus wear hyacinths in his flower crown as a reminder of his former lover (like Apollo wears laurels from Daphne's tree)? Is it out of the guilt he has later or a sadistic triumph?
We'll never know.
Chloris creates the hyacinth flowers
For those who don't know, Chloris is the goddess of flowers and the wife of Zephyrus.
We all agree that Apollo created the hyacinth flower in the memories of Hyacinthus, but Ovid claimed Chloris (or Flora, her Roman counterpart) to be the creator.
"I (Flora) first made a flower from Therapnean blood [Hyacinthus the larkspur flower], and its petal still inscribes the lament. You too, narcissus, have a name in tended gardens, unhappy in your undivided self. Why mention Crocus, Attis, or Cinyras' son, from whose wounds I made a tribute soar?" - Ovid, "Fasti"
I don't like this version not because it's a Roman source, but because having Flora/Chloris creating the flower will reduce the heart-wrenching of Apollo and Hyacinthus' myth. Apollo lost his beloved to the hands of death, so having him make the flower as a tribute to their love and to always remember him will have a bigger impact.
Apollo is Hyacinthus' uncle/granduncle/great-grandfather
Look, almost all Greek mythology couples are related in some way. Apollo and Hyacinthus are no exception.
If we have Amyclas and Diomede as Hyacinthus' parents, Apollo will be Hyacinthus' granduncle on his father's side and great-grandfather on his mother's side.
Lacedaemon (Hyacinthus' grandfather) is a son of Zeus and Taygete.
"[Eurotas] left the kingdom to Lacedaemon, whose mother was Taygete, after whom the mountain was named, while according to report his father was none other than Zeus." - Pausanias, "Description of Greece"
Lapithes is a son of Apollo and the father of Diomede.
"Lapithes, the son of Apollon and Stilbe, the daughter of Peneus." - Diodorus Siculus, "Library of History"
"Amyclas and Lapithes' daughter Diomede had Cynortas and Hyacinthus." - Pseudo-Apollodorus, "Bibliotheca"
If we have Clio as Hyacinthus' mother, Apollo will be his half-uncle because the Muses are the daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne, the Titan goddess of memory.
I guess the only way to remove incest from Apollo and Hyacinthus is to have Clio as his mother but use the version where the Muses sprang into life from four fivers made by Pegasus.
Hyacinthus is the relative/ancestor of other heroes (Perseus, Heracles, Helen, etc.)
I used to make a family tree for ten generations of the mythical Spartan family (and an additional one for Perseus and Danae).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And since Perseus is the great-grandfather of Heracles, this means Hyacinthus is an ancestor of Heracles as well.
Here are some sources to back me up:
"[...] Lelex, an aboriginal was the first king in this land, after whom his subjects were named Leleges. Lelex had a son Myles, and a younger one Polycaon. [...] On the death of Myles his son Eurotas succeeded to the throne.." - Pausanias, "Description of Greece"
"On the death of Amyclas, the empire came to Argalus, the eldest of his sons, and afterward, when Argalus died, to Cynortas. Cynortas had a son Oebalus." - Pausanias, "Description of Greece"
"[Oebalus] took a wife from Argos, Gorgophone the daughter of Perseus, and begat a son Tyndareus, with whom Hippocoon disputed about the kingship, claiming the throne on the ground of being the eldest. With the end of Icarius and his partisans, he had surpassed Tyndareus in power, and forced him to retire in fear." - Pausanias, "Description of Greece"
"To Acrisius and Eurydice, Lacedaemon's daughter, was born a daughter Danae [...] When Acrisius later learned that she had given birth to Perseus, not believing that Zeus seduced her, he cast his daughter out to sea with her son on an ark." - Pseudo-Apollodorus, "Bibliotheca"
Apollo and Hyacinthus in the Trojan War???
Oh boy. This is the part many of you are screaming for me to explain.
I'll have to disappoint you because there aren't many texts about Apollo/Hyacinthus in the Epic Cycle (at least, I can't find all of them yet). But if we bust our brains, we can draw out some shower thoughts.
Was Hyacinthus alive by the time of the Trojan War, and did he participate?
The timeline is shaky and depends on which source you're looking at. Euripides' play "Helen" mentions the Hyacinthia festival, meaning our prince was born, died, and immortalized before the Trojan War.
"They will be gathered in a dance, at long last, or in games, or in all night feasts, in honor of Hyacinth, whom Phoebus Apollo killed during a discus throwing contest." - Euripides, "Helen"
On the other hand, Lucian's "Dialogues of the Dead" said that Hyacinthus was still in the Underworld after the Trojan War.
"Menippos: Where are all the beauties, Hermes? Show me around, I am a newcomer. Hermes : I am busy, Menippos. But look over there, to your right, and you will see Hyacinthus, Narcissus, Nireus, Achilles, Tyro, Helene, Leda - all the beauties of old." - Lucian, "Dialogues of the Dead"
From Lucian's work, either Hyacinthus will be resurrected much later after the war or never at all.
If we go by the version that Hyacinthus was deified before the war, I'm sure he will side with his homeland. Hyacinthus is a favorite hero-god of Sparta and great-granduncle to Helen, so there is no reason he won't participate in the war.
That leads us to the next point:
2) Can you imagine the angst potential for Hyapollo???
National pride is a big thing for Spartans. You know how Spartans mock other city-states and uphold their people. Hyacinthus must feel utterly betrayed when Apollo is revealed to be siding with the people who stole from his homeland. He loves the god, but he loves his homeland more.
However, unlike the previous point where there are sources to draw from, we got zero records of how Apollo and Hyacinthus interacted during the war. So it has to be up to our imagination.
When Apollo sent a plague on the Greeks, did he purposefully spare the Spartans because of Hyacinthus? Did Hyacinthus tell his men to not kill the children, lovers, or favored mortals of Apollo?
Did they avoid each other when the Olympian civil conflict broke out? Did they even talk to each other at all?
And most importantly, how would they heal after the Trojan War?
3) Do the Spartans celebrate the Hyacinthia in Troy?
Now, this one is funny. The Spartans worshipped Apollo and Hyacinthus together, yet Apollo is now the enemy of Sparta.
In history, Spartans did form truces and leave the battlefields to attend the Hyacinthia festival.
"Now the Lakedaimonians (Lacedaemonians), as the festival of Hyakinthos was approaching, made a truce of forty days with the men of Eira [in Messenia]. They themselves returned home to keep the feast." - Pausanias, "Description of Greece"
But this isn't the case in the Trojan War. No sources say the Spartans desert the battlefield in Troy to go home for the festival (makes sense because they have to travel across the sea, and their queen is still trapped in Troy)
So the question is: how do they celebrate them in Troy instead? Do they even celebrate the Hyacinthia when one of the honored gods is siding against them?
Food for thought...

What's your director's cut on Purple Hyacinth?? :D
Ah yes, Wakaba, the source of my many MANY brain worms. I am no doubt, a big believer of the grey pigeon theory not as a means to undermine Akechi's story but rather to expand on Wakaba's.
I like the idea she was so steadfast and determined to break road in cognitive psience via unethical research. I like the idea that someone can be a kind loving mother and still be passively and actively responsible for cruelty in the name of their goals. One of the reasons I named the chapter the purple hyacinth was after the Greek Lover of Apollo by the same name, Hyacinthus.
Hyacinthus was an intelligent spartian prince both beautiful and misunderstood since he valued knowledge over physical strength. He was killed when the spirit of the Wind was jealous of his relationship with Apollo, who loved him and while they were throwing discs, the spirit of the wind turned the winds and caused it to hit Hyacinthus in the head and he died.
Apollo in his grief turned Hyacinthus's body into a flower hence the name.
Now, I love playing around with personas and mythology and Hyacinthus was the perfect candidate for Wakaba in my eyes for a few reasons.
Hyacinthus like Wakaba, primary role in the narrative and story was to be known for their intelligence and their death. Little else is known beyond that because that was the most important part of the story, how his death affected Apollo and why his death came about.
Apollo, funny enough, has this thing where the majority of his relationships are cursed. Most people he tries to woo either end up dead or turned into plants, cursed child enters Wakaba's life she ends up pretty similarly.
I liked the idea that Hyacinthus's death and how he was grieved became immortalized in Apollo turning him into a flower while Futaba's palace was around themes of immortality, bringing back the dead back to life and ultimately, centered around immortalizing grief.
I like the idea that ultimately, while I believe Wakaba was a complicated woman and person with goals and desires of her own. After all, she wouldn't have had a shadow to be killed if she didn't have distorted desires. She's this..unknown entity in the story, who is only known for how she was loved, how intelligent she was, and how she was killed, just like Hyacinthus.
I love mythology, I love parallels, and I absolutely love the idea that Wakaba's shadow was "studying" her and the real world just like how Wakaba was studying the cognitive world.
I also explained this once before but the reason why Wakaba's garden in her palace became a race track was due to something my professor told me once about how the field of research is a race track.
You have to be the first to discover something, the first to publish, because chances are there are thousands of people trying to prove the same thing as you and you have to win the race or else you're just last place.
That's what I think drove Wakaba as well, the drive to be the first to discover the metaverse, how to use it, similarly to Maruki. Whether her intentions were ultimately for the good of people is irrelevant because she could always justify the means via the ends.
Wakaba spent alot of time with Goro and ended up loving him as a son, but not enough to stop what she was doing, not enough to put her own daughter at risk. It's sad because well, Wakaba is just another complicated adult in Goro's life, a person whose depiction of love and affection was marred by the things she condoned. I find that fascinating that if the two of them had trusted each other just a little bit sooner, then maybe things would have been different for them both.
Wakaba was Goro's Magacian Arcana, which meant she was his metaverse guide similar to how Morgana is for Ren, or rather was supposed to be for Ren.
I think towards the end of her life she ended up with a lot of regrets, and she knew exactly how it was going to end.

PETALDELA AUU :D
Mark has/is.. The purple hyacinth! One of many funeral flowers, it Symbols Sorrow and Regret (and forgiveness I think)
Cesar has/is.. The Rhododendron flower! If I remember correctly, it symbolises Caution and Danger (get it? Bc of the VOL1 incident?)
More under the cut/AU INFOO
Basically, I thought, instead of Alternates, what if theres these flower things that slowly take over the human body if their seeds stick onto them? They'd go to the brain (or any other major organ, but mostly brain)
The flowers are more like either their own bad traits, emotions or just flowers I think would make sense to them, like Mark I didn't really have any idea but he would probably have a lot of Regret and he probably caused a lot of Sorrow
While with Cesar, I also had no fucking idea but the only thing for sure, didn't wanna go with a rose, not because I don't like roses (they're so fucking pretty) but because I know ppl think of Cesar and go with roses (that what happened to me anyways). Plus, Mark didn't really was entirely cautious of the danger he was in when he agreed to help him out but I don't blame him, I would probably do the same thing tbh.
Anyways, the flower infection makes it's victims like Zombies but they're still very conscious of what's going on (depending on how they died) example with.. Well, the two we mentioned before!
Mark: he shot himself in the head, don't ask but the seeds would be on the bullet of the gun (how? Idfk so yeet yer theories at me-) So he probably would be usually quiet/observant and probably tired 24/7.
Cesar: idk what his cause of death would be canonly but in this AU he fell out of a 2nd floor window and landed right on his head (poor guy probably broke his neck and slowly died) but I'd still like to think he's very friendly (maybe Two Faced though?) he would be a bit too friendly at times.. Anyways-
Gabriel would probably still exist, probably be the creator of the zombie flower thing (idk what to call it), guy is just made of the flowers lol. So yes, Dave betrayal death still happens.

Since Mark's body technically left the scene of the crime, he's deemed "Missing" along with Cesar instead of dead, Sarah is working on finding him.
Thatcher is also trying to find Mark and Cesar along with.. Well, you probably guess who the other missing people are :)
That is all for now :D
Also here's the full paper sheet if u really want it:

King Hyacinth
Hyacinth's name is derived from the Greek for flower; ‘hyakinthos'. The legend about the origin of the flower also has a Greek origin. In Greek myth, Apollo and Zephyr were fighting for the attention of a young boy called Hyacinth. When Apollo was teaching him how to throw a discus, Zephyr became jealous and used his wind power to blow the discus back at Hyakinthos, which killed him. The flower that grew from the blood was given the name ‘hyacinth'. This myth is the reason why, in the western world, hyacinths are considered to be symbols of jealousy, sorrow and sport. In the language of flowers, the hyacinth means constancy, faithfulness and dependability as well as sports. In the Bible, the hyacinth is used to describe a shade of blue and is said to symbolise heaven and eternal life.
The colours of his outfit are of black, gold, green with a hint of purple. Around his neck is a bow tie in purple, this is to symbolise his regal status.  Over his bow tie, and the rest of his attire, he adorns a black robe,  once again as a symbol of authority and to protect from the elements with a gold band to fasten and show his wealth, fabric crossed over his chest to also hold the mantle in place. The robe is similar to academic robes worn by graduating students.
The designs down his garments form a variant of the endless knot symbol. The endless knot symbolises eternity, infinitely and the karmic cycle. The interlinking ropes of the endless knot symbolises the relationship between cause and effect in the cycle of karma. Hyacinth's choices demonstrate the principle of karma where an action has a consequence. The cause of ‘action’ is awakening Sombron. This action results in the ‘consequence’ of him being eaten. Green is the colour of karma and of one of the Five Wisdom Buddgis of the Mahayana and Vajrayana traditions; Amoghasiddhi. Amoghasiddhi is responsible for being fully enlightened and destroying the poison of envy. Amoghasiddhi means ‘Unfailing Accomplishment‘. Hyacinth does accomplish his goal of raising Sombron, because his accomplishment was fueled by desire, he eventually faced karma.
Another symbol hidden in the shape of his ruffles down the right side of his body is ‘Dhvaja’ also known as ‘the victory banner'. The banner symbolises the Buddha's victory over the four maras. The four maras (murders) are:
The mara of death (the Lord of Death) - Hyacinth fears death when Sombron ears him.
The mara of disturbing emotions and attitudes - Hyacinth is possessed and displays disturbing attitudes to Ivy. He is willing to sacrifice her.
The mara of the aggregate factors of experience (the five aggregates) - He clings to the desire to stay in his living form.
Mara who is the son of the gods. He craves pleasure (numerous wives) and peace.
His crown is embellished with the symbol of ‘triratna’, meaning ‘three jewels’ in Sanskrit. The three jewels are: The Buddha, Dharma and the Sangha.
