Tyndale Life Application Daily Devotion
Tumblr media
Devotional for March 30th
Search me, O God, and know my heart;        test me and know my anxious thoughts.        Point out anything in me that offends you,        and lead me along the path of everlasting life. — Psalm 139:23-24
Insight
David asked God to search for sin and point it out, even to the level of testing his thoughts. This is exploratory surgery for sin. How are we to recognize sin unless God points it out? Then, when God shows us, we can repent and be forgiven.
Challenge
Make this verse your prayer. If you ask the Lord to search your heart and your thoughts, and to reveal your sin, you will be continuing on God's “path of everlasting life.”

I Am Yours, God
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life. Psalm 139:23-24 You know my heart, Lord. You created it. You fashioned me in every way. My talents. My hopes. My dreams – all of them are from You. I want to know You more. I want to trust You with all that I am. The moment…

simple challenge
Tumblr media
It is not a simple day.  But I want to share with you something simple.
Often things get complicated, and we might even complicate what is not complicated.  That even happens with our faith.
Thus, a challenge is ahead from this e-devotion.  Take some time today to simplify and think about connecting with God, trusting God, continuing with God and allowing His way to be yours.
Two passages of Scripture stand out in my mind.  And then a closing verse.  So let’s get to it…
Psalm 139:23-24  NLT
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24  Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
Pray this prayer.  Trust the answers God gives you.  Then walk it out no matter what God says.
What did God say to you?
Psalm 23:1-3  NLT
The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. 2  He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. 3  He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.
I shared Psalm 23 with the youth at The Community Fellowship last night.  God opened my eyes in several ways.  It was simple truth too.  Ask God to reveal this to you.
I have all that I need… that is what the sheep said.  Why?  Because the Shepherd was present.  The shepherd provided.  The shepherd protected.  The shepherd led.  The shepherded cared.  And more.
We are the sheep.  He is the shepherd.  Apply that.  And wow, that is good.
One last verse.  Don’t complicate it.
Colossians 3:2  NLT
Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.
I’m praying for:
Pray for Pastor Dan Caraway as he has surgery today.  Pray for the family of Pastor Clint Clifton as his funeral is this weekend.  Pray for the Brannock family as their mom passed away.  Pray for the MHC warming center and need for a full time homeless shelter.  Pray for your  spouse.  Pray for your children.
My prayer list:
Anita Sparks, Tammy Booth, Elizabeth Foley, Christy Woods, Joel McPherson, Peyton Moore, Susi Depoy, Chris Cocks, Martha Pennington, Timmy Howell, Raye Anne Thore, Amy Southers, and Danny and Kathy Wilson.  Pray for those battling cancer Frances Compton, Steve Markland’s father, Ken Hancock, George Keith, Joan Norman, Debra Mosley, Dionna Cameron, Leah Riddle’s sister Lori, Ron Harris and Jon Morris.

The Secret of Thy Presence
The Secret of Thy Presence
Psalm 31:19-20. Oh how great is Thy goodness, which Thou hast laid up for them that fear Thee; which Thou hast wrought for them that trust in Thee before the sons of men! Thou shalt hide them in the secret of Thy presence from the pride of man: Thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues. Here’s a lovely song that I don’t remember ever hearing before: We like to say…

Character and Reputation
Psalm 26:1-2. Judge me, O LORD; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the LORD; therefore I shall not slide. Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart. (I want to apologize for going missing yesterday. Had an early appointment for medical reasons, and just didn’t get back into my usual groove. Back on track now.) More than once, David pleads with God to…
