BREAKING: Suneel Darshan to launch Natasha Fernandez, Aayush Kumar, Akaisha in Andaaz 2
Bollywood Hungama was the first one to break the news that Suneel Darshan is all set to make the sequel to his hit love triangle, Andaaz (2003). The shoot began on November 28 and Suneel Darshan confirmed at that point that he’ll be launching three new faces in Andaaz 2. However, he had refused to unveil their identities then.
Tumblr media
Suneel Darshan has now, finally, revealed who these three newcomers are. Natasha Fernandez (pictured; on left), Aayush Kumar (pictured; on centre) and Akaisha (on right) will make their starry debuts in Andaaz 2. Natasha Fernandez also featured in Suneel’s last release, Ek Haseena Thi Ek Deewana Tha (2017), which also starred his son Shiv Darshan. Aayush Kumar had a very small role in Abhishek Bachchan-starrer Dasvi (2022) and Andaaz 2 will serve as his big debut.
Incidentally, with Andaaz as well, the veteran filmmaker launched the acting careers of Lara Dutta and Priyanka Chopra, who went on to become popular names. The musical also starred Akshay Kumar in the lead.
While Andaaz’s chartbuster songs were composed by Nadeem-Shravan, Andaaz 2 will feature original music by Nadeem of Nadeem-Shravan fame, lyrics by Sameer and choreography by Raju Khan. The Shree Krishna International presentation is written, produced and directed by Suneel Darshan. The film is expected to release in 2024.
Andaaz, directed by Raj Kanwar and produced by Suneel Darshan, was a love triangle between a man and two women. The film was a rage, thanks to the songs, youthful appeal, touching moments and sizzling chemistry between the actors. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama in May 2022, Suneel Darshan had said, “Several cinemas wanted to shut down over the course of the (2003 multiplex) strike. We had distributed the film ourselves and I personally called the theatre owners and requested to keep their cinemas going. I assured them that they’d benefit from Andaaz as I had that faith in the product. And thankfully, the film became a rage in the single screens.”

Wedding Shenanigans
A/N : Not me using my cousin's wedding as a plot for my fic. This has been sitting in my drafts for a while really didn’t have the nerve to post it. I’m still nervous tbh. Please don’t hate me if it’s bad my over dramatic ass just went a little overboard.
Pairing : Tom Holland x Indian! Reader
Summary : you are back home for your best friend’s wedding and Tom decides to accompany you.
Warnings : just over dramatic crap, sexual innuendos
Mini Playlist : Aa toh sahi, First kiss
(Note- As our country has a vast diversity of languages the italicized dialogues represents whatever native language you speak. I didn’t want to emphasize on a particular language.)
Tumblr media
"You sure you wanna tag along?" you try to confirm with him again.
"Yeah I have never attended an Indian wedding before. Moreover I should have an experience you know for future just like Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra our grand wedding" he chirped.
"We will be staying at my parent’s house so no room sharing with me"
"What? Not again! But why can't I share a room? I mean your parents do know that we live together"
"Yeah but that's India honey, no sleeping together before marriage"
"I have to sleep all alone at night without you that's not fair" He whined.
"You can share a room with my dad then" you suggested.
"What? No not your dad" he gave a mortified look.
"Why what’s wrong?'' you let out an airy laugh.
"I’m really scared of him" you chuckled at his confession
"What? Don’t laugh at me, he really intimidates me"
"Well he is the only person who will decide to give my hand to you or not, so man up baby"
"And it's just for one night then we will go to the resort where the wedding will take place. And there hopefully we can share a room or you can share a room with Rahul or the other guys. I'll talk to them about it.
"Not that chump!" he immediately protested.
"What is with you and him?" you chuckle.
"When the person is a potential candidate to steal your girl you have to be a little defensive"
"God how many times do I need to tell you that we never had anything between us, he’s just my childhood friend."
"You may not have but I have noticed the last time we went to visit your parents he is always trying to woo you and moreover you parents like him too" he grumbled.
"Aww someone is jealous"
"I’m spiderman. Why would I be jealous? He says defensively, you smirk.
"Ok spiderman pack your things quickly"
You flew back to India the next day, you stayed the night at your parents house before leaving for the resort to attend your best friend’s wedding.
''Y/N!!" Your best friend squealed in excitement as she eagerly hugged you.
"Missed you so much.
"Me too babe. Can’t believe you’re getting married. When did we grow so big?" you pout.
"Hey Y/N"
"Hi Rahul. Missed you so much bro" you hugged him.
"Hey darling let's go to our room shall we? You must be tired" Tom eavesdropped in your conversation.
''Yeah I'm a little"
"Hey man how are you?" Rahul asked.
"I’m good, mate. Will talk to you later."
"Yeah sure, go take some rest" Tom literally dragged you away from him.
"What was that?" you frowned.
"Nothing" He said. You chuckled, shaking your head at your boyfriend’s possessive attitude.
After settling down in your room you went to freshen up. You stepped out of the bathroom drying your with a towel as you informed Tom.
"Okay so tomorrow is haldi"
"What’s that?"
"Well it's a ritual where we apply turmeric paste to both bride and groom, it is said turmeric improves your skin tone. I know it sounds stupid but age old custom so can’t be changed" you continued.
"So don’t wear something expensive as the turmeric stain will be hard to remove. You will be with the guys I have told Rahul everything so you will not have any problem'' he rolls his eyes.
"And please don't end up killing him''
The next morning after the puja was completed your best friend was made to sit on a seat decorated with flowers. As all the married women applied turmeric to her blessing her for a happy married life. Then came all of your turn. And you guys didn't leave a spot, painting her completely yellow.
"Y/N come here let me apply some turmeric so that next will be your turn" a woman offered.
"No thanks I'm fine" you dodged her somehow.
You went back to your room to change, Tom returned as well.
"You guys played quite a holi I see" you comment seeing his face and kurta painted yellow.
"Yeah but why didn’t you put that?
"I'll only apply only when it has been touched by my husband on my wedding day"
"Well I can help you with that" he backed you up against the wall caging you and slowly leaned down. You felt butterflies in your stomach as his face inched closer to yours, you thought he was going for a kiss as you parted your lips instead he tilted to the side brushing his cheek to yours and he did the same thing with your other cheek.
"There you go" he maneuvered you to face the mirror and you saw turmeric paste on your cheeks.
"Tom! Seriously? I thought-" you huff
"What did you think darling?" He whispers with  a sultry voice.
"Nothing!"
"Someone is horny" He chuckles.
"Shut up you dickhead!" you snapped.
"But weren't you thinking about my dick in the first place?" He teases to annoy you even more.
"Ugh!! you know what Rahul is much better than you!" saying so you ran inside the bathroom shutting the door.
"What? What did you say?" he heard your giggles from inside.
Later in the day you were in the community hall of the resort with your friends discussing your dance performances.
"Guys we can’t let the groom’s side win do you get that?" you state.
"Chill Y/N we are gonna set the stage on fire"
"So what songs are we gonna perform? And please no bole chudiyan" you quip.
"Dilli wali girlfriend?" one of them suggested.
"Yeah that will definitely be kept for the end other than that?"
"Cutipie?"
"Nah"
"Deedar de? Odhani? Sawan mein lag gayi aag?" Everyone suggested in a chorus, someone even suggested ooh la la.” you facepalmed at the chaos.
"Guys are you planning to seduce those pot bellied bald uncles and middle aged judgemental aunties over there?" everyone went silent as you continued
"No right? So please something sober and fun. These songs can be played in the after party when the main event is over"
"Morni banke?" someone suggested.
"See now you’re getting it" After a lot of discussion finally you all agreed on some songs and started to choreograph the dance steps. Your eyes went to your boyfriend whom you had completely forgotten in the middle of this.
"You’re getting bored right? I’m so sorry babe this why I said you should pass this one out"
"Hey no I’m fine plus I kind of figured out a little of your conversation, you are talking of some kind of dance competition"
"Wow you are improving I’m so proud of you. And yes you’re right tomorrow we have sangeet at night and it’s a dance off bride vs groom and we are gonna smash them"
"Oh you will, darling. How much of an aggressive competitor you’re no one knows better than me" He chuckles.
"Hey! I’m not aggressive" you protest.
"Do I need to remind you of the one time you were literally about to throw the controller at the tv screen after you lost a match of fortnite?"
"Okay in my defense you cheated" you narrowed your eyes.
"No I didn't," He says haughtily.
"Yes you did, you distracted me-" you argue back.
"What did I do baby?" His voice was low as you remembered about the distraction he caused.
"Uh never mind" you stutter all flustered.
"Hey Y/N c’mon let’s practise" Rahul called you.
"What’s he gonna do?" Tom frowned.
"He’s my dance partner, I would have asked you but you don’t understand the lyrics well so"
"Yeah yeah I get it, now go" He said rolling his eyes.
You began to practice the dance for the sangeet it went on for sometime. But later everyone got bored to dancing to the same song so random songs were played
Sun baby deadly hai teri walk ni
Tere thumke bhi karte hai talk ni
Ho dil kare dekhi jaun teri ore
Tu nazre mila toh sahi
Dil diya hai jaan bhi tujhe denge
Tu ik vaari aa toh sahi
Dil diya hai jaan bhi tujhe denge
Tu nazre mila toh sahi
Tu ik vari aa to sahi
You started to move your hips sensually as Rahul joined you too. His hands went to wrap around your waist which made Tom uncomfortable as his face tensed up. You were laughing and giggling unaware of Tom watching you with a pointed look as you both were getting too close to his liking. You looked over your shoulder to find a very displeased Tom. An idea crossed your mind as you waltzed your way to him.
Kab mummy daddy mere tu patayega
Leke band baja ghar mere aayegaKab tak mujhe aise hi ghumayega
Tu baat badha to sahi
Dil diya hai jaan bhi tujhe denge
Tu ik vaari aa toh sahi
Dil diya hai jaan bhi tujhe denge
Tu nazre mila toh sahi
Tu ik vari aa to sahi
Grabbing his hand you pulled him to the center your friends hooted and whistled. You began to dance around him and nudge his shoulder playfully before lacing your hands around his neck pulling him closer to you. You turn around your back pressed against his broad chest as you take his hands and place them around your waist and continue to sway against each other.
............
Next day your best friend was sitting in the courtyard surrounded by all the ladies. The mehendi artist drew beautiful and intricate patterns on her hand with the henna.
You and your girl gang got ready to perform for the occasion as the song ‘mehndi hai rachne wali’ started to play in the background. You all danced to the song gracefully. After the performance you all also got your mehendi done.
"Tom! Tom! Where is my food?!" You yell sitting on your bed with wet henna on your hands.
"Wait a minute my hungry devil" Tom comes with your plate of food.
"Seriously you just can’t wait for a few minutes" He huffs sitting next to you.
"I’m so lucky to have such a sweet and caring boyfriend" you gush.
"Yeah yeah, now open your mouth" You do as he says. He brings the spoon near your mouth to pull it away immediately and eat the food himself.
"Tom!" You protest, he stifles a laugh. This is a nice punishment for you now cannot work your hands.
"Yeah very funny, don’t talk to me" You turn your face away from him annoyed.
"Hey I’m sorry, here take" He holds the spoon in front of you as you open your mouth to eat but that little fucker does it again going into a fit of laughter.
"You!!" You lift your hands to hit him.
"Ah, ah love don’t think of it or your artwork will only get ruined" He chuckles as you huff in defeat.
"Okay now c’mon, this time no pranks I promise" You frowned at him still dubious but this time he finally fed you.
"You know they write the name or initial of your husband in this. I made the lady write your initial, think you can find it?" you looked at him with a  playful expression.
"Is that a challenge, love?"
"Well maybe" you shrug.
"Then I fucking accept it!" He gets on to search through the intricate patterns drawn on your hand but soon he realized it was hard than he thought as he frowned.
"Don’t worry baby you have the whole day, you’ll find it eventually I suppose" You snicker.
Later in the evening the sangeet ceremony took place and as expected you guys won the dance off. After all the elders and children were done having their dinner and retreated to their rooms, the younger lot of you as decided earlier had your own kind of mini bachelor’s party with everyone ending up drunk. The boys were dancing on to some peppy bollywood item number, later you and your girlfriends took the stage as the music continued to play.
Ae Yo, Ae Yo
Seene Se Laga Ke Baahon Mein
Mujhe Le Lo
Jaldi Hai Kaisi
I Like It Nice And Slow
Your body swayed sensually as the guys hollered and cheered you girls with a few whistles.
Meri Heart Beat Fast
Aur Sab Lage Mujhe Slo-mo
Mujhe Slow-mo
I Want You Right Now
I Need You Right Now Come
You stretched your hand pointing your finger directly to your boyfriend motioning him to get up and come to you. He obliged with a smirk plastered on his face and strided towards you.
Hassa Hassa Ke Gaya Fasa
Tu Toh Dil Mera
Nasha Nasha Tera Chadha Nasha
Jab Dekha Chehra Tera
Meri Life Mein Yun Kar Gaya Kyun
Har Din Love Wala Season Tu
What You Gonna Do?
Jo Main Keh Du
Meri Heart Beat Ka Reason Tu
His hands rested on your hips as he knelt down to ear and whispered
"You really do like it nice and slow don’t you love?" you elbowed him playfully.
‘‘Fuck off!!’’
‘‘Ow!’’ He groaned chuckling.
…….
It was your bestie's big day as you were getting ready for it putting on your saree.
"Tom can you help me with the pleats of my saree please"
"Sure darling" He squats down to gather the silky material of your saree, you smoothen the pleats as he holds them in place.
"Thanks hun" You tuck in the pleats inside your underskirt securing them with a pin.
"Anytime sweetheart" He stands up on his feet smiling.
You went on to do your makeup and were busy putting on your jhumkas when Tom’s eyes went to your reflection in the mirror. And boy he was mesmerised, you looked unearthly. He slowly walked to you resting his chin on your shoulder, his arms wrapping around your waist, the sweet scent of the jasmine flowers pinned to your hair intoxicating his senses.
"You look so gorgeous, darling."
"Well thank you, love. You look no less handsome either" And it was so true he actually looked like a snack in that designer kurta. You turned to face him gazing into his soft brown eyes. There was a certain kind of flicker in his eyes which you knew all too well though you were tempted to give in but attending your best friend’s wedding was also important so you brought your hands in front of his face and shook your bangles the jingling  sound broke him out of his trance as he shook his head, blinking his eyes owlishly.
"Now who’s horny huh?" You teased.
"Shut up!" His face turned red all flustered.
"Aww it’s ok baby boy" You tease him even more.
"You’re so in for it later, Y/N" He warns playfully.
"Will see" You winked mischievously "Now c’mon let’s go" you walked out hand in hand towards the dias where the wedding nuptials were to be performed but had to stop on your tracks when you saw a group of aunties coming your way.
"Oh no! Aunties incoming just smile and greet them" You direct Tom warily.
"Do I need to touch their feet?" He asks nervously as you frown.
"No! That’s too much respect they deserve"
"Y/N how are you?" One of them asked. "You’ve grown so big! You remember me right?" Another lady badgered you with more questions.
"I’m fine, how are you all?" You gave a broad smile as you yourself were confused who the hell they are.
"Everything is going fine for us. So happy Y/F/N is finally going to happily settle in her life, so when is your turn huh?" You gave a tight lipped smile having no clue what to answer.
"You know my sister’s son is in the government sector, a really nice boy and earns a very handsome salary you know if you want-" you cut her off immediately.
"Umm aunty, meet my boyfriend Tom"
"Hello'' Tom greets them timidly.
"Oh hello-’’ she looked at him with a judgy face okay you kids enjoy then, let me see if anything is needed there or not"
"Yeah sure"
"What was she saying?" Tom asked curiously.
"Nothing just trying to set me up with one of her relative’s weird nerdy son"
"What the-!!"
"Relax she got her answer which is a clear no. Now let’s go and see the wedding" You went near the dais and observed all the rituals take place one by one. It was the time for walking around the fire for seven times as your best friend and her husband stood up and started revolving around the fire while you showered flowers on them along with everyone.
"Why are they circling around the fire?"
"It’s quite similar to exchanging vows you see, the bride and groom promise each other to be together for seven lifetimes with the sacred fire as witness" you explained, Tom nods his head in understanding when something went through his mind.
"Y/N let’s get married" Tom says out of nowhere taking you by surprise.
"What?" You chuckle lightly.
"I'm serious Y/N, let's just get married like right now. I mean everything is set, you are dressed no less than a bride and I’m looking handsome as hell and we have a priest right there"
"Ok Tom, I totally get what you’re saying. But honey, I don’t see a ring" you showed him your empty ring finger scrunching your face.

What Not To Do On A Movie Date
a movie date - @bridget19
Jemily has a fun day at the movies planned. :)
WC: 1369
“Come on, babe! Let’s go! I don’t wanna be late for the movie!” JJ stood with her hand on the doorknob, checking her watch for the umpteenth time.
“Yeah, yeah, babe I’m coming! Give me a second.” Emily called out from somewhere inside the apartment.
“If you take any longer, I’m leaving you here.” The blonde called out to her scatter-brained girlfriend.
“NO, no. Hold on, Jayje, I said I needed a second.” Emily reappeared from behind the kitchen wall, tugging at the straps of the tote bag in her hand.
Her dress shirt was tucked into khaki pants; its deep emerald color contrasting light blue bag. Emily fiddled with the buttons for a few more seconds before looking back at JJ. Her girlfriend was wearing a white and yellow sundress that was covered in lemon patterns. JJ’s blonde hair was loosely curled back, topped by her floppy, beige sun hat.
“Oh shoot!” Emily smacked her forehead, hiding the smirk on her face.
“What? What did you forget?” JJ turned around as they walked down the hall to the stairs.
“They don’t allow outside snacks in there! How am I going to get you into the theater?” Emily chuckled as JJ rolled her eyes.
“Oh my god, Em.” She smiled brightly and grabbed the brunette’s hand, turning the corner to the staircase.
The women walked outside and let the gentle sun hit their faces. They had decided to walk to the theater because it was only 20 minutes away and the air was relaxing. When JJ and Emily had been looking at apartments, the proximity to the city and its movie theaters had been a big plus. JJ walked slightly ahead of Emily, her eagerness spilling over into her quick steps. Her fingers were still laced with Emily’s as they made their way down the sidewalk.
The day was beautiful and the happy couple let each bit of its positive energy boost their mood. Occasional chirps from birds that fluttered from post to post and the whirr of passing cars filled their ears. Spread-out trees provided patchy shade with their tall canopies and were often surrounded by little patches of yellow or white flowers.
At one point, Emily pulled her phone to take a picture of her girlfriend. JJ didn’t notice the camera and continued to frolic forward, her ease apparent on her face. This sunny day felt like a reprieve after their long weeks stuck inside for their jobs. Traveling for work was one thing, but JJ and Emily loved enjoying things in the comfort of home as well.
They approached the final crosswalk, the theater in sight. JJ waited for Emily to catch up to her before wrapping her arms around Emily’s. She stayed close at the brunette’s side as they finished their walk to their destination. The large lights and signs outside the theater were like a unique gem in the middle of their residential area. JJ stopped outside the door.
“Okay, so I bought us tickets to see ‘Isn’t It Romantic’ with Rebel Wilson, Adam Devine, and Priyanka Chopra. I know you said that you “don’t like romcoms” but trust me, I’ve seen clips. You’re gonna like it.” Emily rolled her eyes before raising JJ’s hand to kiss it.
“Alright, I’m trusting you on this one. But if it’s cheesy and bad, I’m making you watch a Russian movie with me with no distractions.”
“Oh shut up, you know you love the cheesy ones just as much as I do, babe. So, what’s in the bag that took you so long to grab?” The blonde gestured to her tote, her eyebrows raised.
“Maybe, but I don’t have to admit. That? You’ll see.” Emily gave a fleeting answer and pulled JJ into the building.
She kept the smirk on her face as they stood in line to get their tickets printed. JJ wouldn’t get an answer until they were inside the theater. Every time the blonde asked, Emily simply leaned over and kissed her. It was a good way to get JJ off her case for a bit. Eventually, JJ gave up and simply leaned against Emily as they waited their turn.
5 minutes later, the women had their tickets and Emily directed JJ to the ticket checker rather than the concessions stand. JJ looked at her girlfriend with confusion. She knew that JJ needed snacks in the movie, and enjoyed having food with the picture. So what was she doing? “Um, Em, what about snacks?” JJ spoke, hoping to understand Emily’s behavior.
“Yeah, what about them?” Emily forgot that JJ had no idea about her plan, being the reason for the tote bag.
“Aren’t we going to get them from the concessions?”
“Jen, those cost an arm and a leg. We are not paying 30 bucks for some buttered popcorn and a watered-down Pepsi. Plus, I have a plan.”
Still confused, JJ decided to trust her girlfriend. They walked up to the ticket check station and no employee was in sight. Emily made an executive decision (to save them time and reduce the chances of getting caught) and pulled JJ past the line, towards their theater.
“Trust me,” Emily said as she pushed through the big door.
“Always,” JJ answered without hesitation as they walked to the back row.
Emily set her bag down and let JJ go to her seat. The movie had been in theaters for a while and they had missed it for the sake of cases, so the room was mostly empty. The only other people they could see was a middle-aged couple sitting a few rows in front of them.
Emily finally opened the tote and showed JJ what she had been holding.
“Oh. My. God. Look at all these snacks! When did you have time to do this?” JJ looked up at Emily incredulously.
“I may have been stockpiling them for a bit. Go nuts, Jen. I got pretty much everything you like in here.” Emily beamed back at her girlfriend, watching JJ grab the bag of Cheetos on top first.
The movie started soon after and the two settled in their seats. They laughed with Rebel Wilson’s quips and her exaggerated obliviousness to Adam Devine. Emily made a joke that it was like them before they got together. JJ rolled her eyes.
The movie was enjoyable for both, filled with enough laughs and cheesy moments to have a perfect balance. JJ and Emily were both focused until JJ felt her feelings peak with love. The movie was channeling her inner romantic, so she lightly turned Emily’s face to the side and kissed her. Emily must have been feeling the same thing because she returned the favor.
They kissed again and the movie became long forgotten. JJ’s lips moved against Emily’s and that was all that mattered. Emily and JJ didn’t happen to notice the middle-aged woman approach their row with a theater employee. The bright light of his flashlight finally pushed the two apart.
“I’m sorry ladies, but we have a no PDA rule in here. You’re gonna have to leave.” His voice was dejected. It was obvious that he didn’t want to be telling two grown women to stop making out in the back of the theater.
“Yeah, I suggest you leave before you distract me and my husband from more of our movie.” The woman beside him chirped up, earning death glares from both of the agents. Any other annoying remarks died in her throat.
“Okay, fine. We’ll be out of your hair.” JJ spoke quickly but surely, making sure that Emily didn’t blow up at the lady.
“Ma’am? I don’t think you should be worried about your husband. He saw this movie a couple of days ago with his girlfriend, Becky, is it?” Emily made one last snide comment before they walked out.
All they heard from inside the theater was exasperated cursing from the lady that had them kicked out. Emily’s bluffing comeback had actually worked. She giggled as she and JJ made their way out of the building. The day was still young, and the street was filled with options.
At least now they knew what not to do on a movie date.

Intrigue in India
A Bollywood actress is getting death threats and escaping serious injuries by mere inches on a film set. Are the threats from a super fan rejected one too many times? Another celebrity snubbed for a role or an award?
Or perhaps the motive behind the threats has something to do with the actress getting to wear the famous Patiala ruby choker for a palace scene in the movie. Many jewels have been found being smuggled out of the country in the past few weeks but who knows how many more have not been discovered? Were the choker’s rubies already stolen and replaced with replicas that will be noticed the instant the necklace is out of the vault for the actress? The threats keep escalating with each day that gets the actress closer to shooting the palace scenes. Help Nancy as the film’s production assistant find out who is behind the threats and stop an international jewel smuggling ring.
@nancydrewnetwork
Features:
Explore Mumbai
Learn the history of India’s maharajahs and their love of jewels
Shop in the bazaar or souk
Delve into the rich culture of India and the crazy fun of Bollywood films
Characters:
Ishwarya Chopra - the star under threat. Ishwarya is so famous in the industry that there would never be a need for her to drum up attention by writing and staging the threats herself; they’re real and she’s starting to consider walking away from her contract for the safety of herself and her family. Sweet attitude but also very used to being catered to. She holds her staff to high standards of job performance so Nancy can’t afford any mistakes undercover.
Priyanka Jayakumar - the film’s director. Be quick and to the point when speaking to her; she’s too busy for details. It’s later revealed that Priyanka is deeply in financial debt. Has she decided that stolen jewels are more lucrative than the movie business? But surely there is an easier way to shut down production than nearly killing the leading lady.
Chandan Khan - superfan of Ishwarya. He’s seen ALL of her movies and knows all of her favorite spots in town and many of her aliases that she uses for hotels and reservations. He works in the souk, but makes more money by selling candid pics of the actress to the paps, so he sneaks off the job as often as he can to go to the film set. Chandan wavers between excitable and sad - always getting his hopes up and then dashed down with each rejection from his beloved celebrity crush. When jewels are found inside the merchandise of his stall at the souk, it’s anyone’s guess how they got there.
Arjan Verma - head of security. His older brother owns the security company and Arjan chooses his own work assignments. Usually politicians get the best bodyguards but having the chance to work near the darling of Bollywood was too good to pass up for Arjan. If he’s so good at his job though, then why is Ishwarya constantly in danger? Even more troublesome: a known alias of Thanos Ganas is on his company’s employee list!
Anushka Rai - the location scout. Nancy can tag along and explore the city with Anushka as she looks for potential locations perfect for filming upcoming scenes. Get a tour of the palace before any of the crew and see the splendor of India’s royal families. Anushka knows all about the history of the jewel trade and the famous Patiala ruby choker that Ishwarya is scheduled to wear. Is her expert knowledge of geography, local history, and jewelry an indication that she could be working for the smugglers, too?
Phone Friends:
It’s a little tougher to get in touch with your usual hint help from friends at home. 10 hour time differences make for some sleepy conversations. Looks like we’re relying on international help.
Grigor Karakinos - he’s still in prison, but using his criminal knowledge to help catch other smugglers is taking years off his sentence. He has always been an actor so he can tell what’s wrong with a set and crew when Nancy describes the accidents befalling the superstar. He’s the one who spots Thanos’s alias on the security employment records - a sure sign that Nancy has once again fallen into seriously dark waters as a detective.
Dagny Silva - when you want help finding missing jewels, could you do any better than a professional treasure hunter? Dagny’s pessimism, sass, and street smarts remind Nancy to stay alert when big money is changing hands. Being nice or looking harmless are the best disguises, so trust no one.

Boxing On.
Chick Fight star and former competitive figure skater Malin Åkerman tells Gemma Gracewood about the meditative power of boxing, how Margot Robbie inspired her to become a producer, and her adoration for Tilda Swinton.
One of film’s earliest preserved specimens is The Gordon Sisters Boxing (1901), a 90-second curio in which sisters Bessie and Minnie Gordon go at it with boxing gloves, in full petticoats, in front of a genteel scene of a formal garden with fountain centerpiece. It’s theatrical yet strangely thrilling, possibly because women’s fight films are few and far between.
There’s 2004’s po-faced, Oscar-winning Million Dollar Baby, Priyanka Chopra’s 2014 turn as Indian boxing star Mary Kom, and last year’s Fighting with My Family, a good-time, must-see starring our girl Florence Pugh as a pro wrestler. But a global sports-fighting industry stacked with female champs hasn’t really translated into big screen chick-fights. The best woman-on-woman fight scenes are usually contained in narrative action (the airplane scrap between KiKi Layne and Charlize Theron in The Old Guard was one of 2020’s highlights on that front).
And that’s, in part, what attracted actor and emerging producer Malin Åkerman to Chick Fight, a story set around a secret underground women’s fight club founded by a therapist to give her patients a physical outlet for their rage. “I love boxing,” says Åkerman. “It’s not a man’s sport. It’s an everyman’s sport, it’s an everywoman’s sport. It’s a very cathartic experience for me because afterwards I feel like I’ve gotten everything out.”
Åkerman plays Anna, a 40-something financial and emotional disaster whose bestie introduces her to the club once she hits rock bottom. That friend, Charleen, is played winningly by comedian Dulcé Sloan, with a fun turn by Fortune Feimster as the fight club referee, plus Alec Baldwin as Anna’s booze-loving trainer, and former WWE star Kevin Nash as her recently out father.

Malin Åkerman and Alec Baldwin in ‘Chick Fight’.
Though she has has starred in more than 40 films, Åkerman is new to producing (Friendsgiving is her other film out this month). The hunt for projects she could take the lead on began after the jolt of missing out on a role uniquely suited to her: Tonya Harding in I, Tonya. “I grew up as a figure skater, I competed nationally in Canada for ten years,” Åkerman says, recalling that she hit up her team: “I just said, ‘How come I didn’t even get called in for this?’ And they said, ‘Well, because Margot Robbie built it from the ground up. She produced it.’ I went ‘aaah’ and a light bulb went up over me and I went, ‘Alright, that’s it, I just have to take things into my own hands and start finding material’.”
Chick Fight was scripted by first-time feature writer Joseph Downey, who strives to create female-led stories. Some aspects feel contrived—a rivalry between Anna and Bella Thorne’s Olivia in particular; Alec Baldwin in general—but Åkerman worked with director Paul Leyden, a good friend, to enhance “the female perspective and the female voice” in the script. This comes across in scenes between Anna and Charleen, which tingle with no-bullshit connection. “I think that the important message in this film was sisterhood. It’s so important to focus on the fact that women supporting women has so much power and strength. We need to stick together and we need to be this force of unity.”
In the pursuit of more projects, her lockdown has been a whirl of Zoom meetings with potential writers—a silver lining of the pandemic. “I’ve had time to focus on searching for new material. Just taking the bull by the horns and creating the material that [I] wanna create. That is the way to go.” Åkerman herself is partial to “films that breathe”, giving No Country for Old Men, Babel and Call Me by Your Name as examples. “I just think there is so much art involved in those types of films.” Javier Bardem and Tilda Swinton stand out in her “Rolodex of actors” as particular fascinations. “Anything Tilda does, I will watch.”
Tumblr media
Malin Åkerman, Dulcé Sloan and director Paul Leyden on the set of ‘Chick Fight’.
Those films and artists, Åkerman readily adds, are “a long shot from the kinds of genres I usually get myself involved in”. Chick Fight, on the other hand, fits neatly in the Åkerman universe—a breezy comedy that balances silly training montages with meatier questions. While above ground, it looks like a classic comedy, the underground cage fights are filmed at high-speed to allow for the visceral, glossy slow-mo shots that come part-and-parcel with today’s movie fights—roundhouse kicks, fists meeting bones, spit and blood flying—and sound effects to match. “That guttural, animal instinct is so amazing to be able to release,” Åkerman enthuses.
It feels important to note, given the David Fincher elephant in the room, that Chick Fight’s only commonality with Fight Club is the three words “secret fight club”. Åkerman says the films that more directly influenced Chick Fight are Rocky (“this is the comedic version of that underdog story”), and the buddy-movie vibe of Thelma & Louise. “That’s the closest to this that we could get. It’s that ‘enough is enough’ feeling. I just love that film. It’s, like, ‘Fuck the system and fuck society as it’s been created and told us to be and not to be. Let’s break down those barriers’.”
The Thelma & Louise connection feels especially strong in Anna’s very sudden economic descent from small business owner to evicted, unemployed and dispossessed. It’s a clear-eyed statement, in the middle of a comedy, on the lack of a social safety net in America, particularly for women—and on the importance of finding your own community (and for many, choosing your own family).
Åkerman was born in Sweden and raised in Canada; both are countries with stronger systems in place for social support, and pro-women policies. “Everything seems a bit more logical over there.” On pandemic-ridden, post-election America, she says, “That's been really interesting, to take into account what kind of country we’re actually living in and what needs to be worked on. I hope that we continue to move forward and not backwards as far as women and equality goes.”
Tumblr media
Among the many downsides of the coronavirus pandemic, one is the closure of gyms and sports clubs, an inconvenient side-effect at a time when exercise—an outlet for stress and frustration—is so beneficial for mental-health management. Which brings us back to the joy of boxing: “Most of us have so much on our minds; life is so full of anxiety, or stresses, and it’s so hard to shut that off.”
“Some people are able to shut up their brains by actually sitting and meditating. My brain just gets much louder when I do that, so if I am able to just concentrate on not getting hit in the face, I am completely out of my mind and in my body.”

A/N: This one is a mini chapter so it’s shorter, but next week’s will be longer. Also Tumblr apparently won’t let me link things so if you’re looking for my masterlist, playlist, taglist, or writing challenge it’s in my bio <3

Tom Holland and Zendaya Officially Together! Is Marriage on the Cards?
“Ugh! It’s on BBC too?! I thought they had journalistic integrity!!”
For the past two days, every news channel had been carrying Tom and Zendaya’s whirlwind romance. Everywhere you looked, there were pictures of the two of them being cute somewhere. Out to lunch, taking a stroll in New York City holding hands, kissing in Paris, even posing for photos with fans at Central Park. It hurt every time you turned on the TV, it was like you were intentionally trying to see the new reports. You were shocked Tom had moved on so quickly, and with the girl he had always said he felt nothing for.
Guess that was a lie.
There were so many thoughts running through your mind about Tomdaya that you didn’t hear Bailey come down the stairs and stand next to you with her hands on her hips.
“That’s it, you need to leave the house. You haven’t moved from this couch in two days. You need to get out and date.” She said, pulling the blanket off you. You winced and glared at her, snatching the blanket back. You were also clutching a near empty tub of Haagen-Daz cookie dough ice cream, but you had mixed reactions about it because the brand was apparently Zendaya’s favorite.
Wow, you were petty.
“Really? What, just like that?” You muttered, poking around the tub with your spoon. You’d been picking out the cookie dough bits, and Bailey used to tease you for it. She thought it was stupid that you bought ice cream just to pick at it, but now it just made her sad. You looked so tired and upset, it was killing her.
“What, like it’s hard? You’re Y/N Y/L/N! All you have to do is bat your eyelashes. flash a smile and you’re set!” Bailey cried, sitting next to you and throwing the tub over your shoulder. You let out a yell, but she pulled you back before you could go find it. She looked at you and you felt yourself shrink from her eyes. You knew she was right, but you weren’t over Tom yet. Your heart needed time to heal.
“Fine, give me some time to get over him and I’ll do it. But I’ll only date on one condition.” You said, and Bailey let out a sigh of relief. If it meant you would finally leave the house and get out a bit, she would do whatever it took. She leaned forward and motioned for you to continue.
“You have to date too.” You smiled, and Bailey immediately recoiled. She jumped up from the sofa and began to pace around the TV. You watched her, rolling your eyes at how dramatic she was being.
“Yeah, no. No, absolutely not!” Bailey said, standing in front of you shaking her head emphatically. You got up and threw the tub in the trash. Surprisingly, you felt a little lighter having done it, and you turned back to see Bailey staring out the window.
“Too bad then. Bumble would have been perfect for you. The women get to pick the men, which is perfect for a powerful, independent woman like you. No more creeps and losers. Plus, I mean Priyanka Chopra created it so....” You said, and you swore Bailey perked up a little. She turned to look at you and she pursed her lips.
“Shut up, you’re just trying to flatter me. And you know I love Priyanka.” She whispered, and you laughed for the first time in a while. You had almost forgotten what that sounded like.
“Well, duh. Is it working?” You giggled, and Bailey threw a pillow at you which just narrowly missed. You threw it back and it hit the vase that held Tom’s lilies. They were dying anyways, and the vase hit the floor and shattered. You weren’t one to believe in signs, but it seemed like one.
“Yes. Alright, I’ll think about it. Now get up, the Met Gala is in three days and you need to meet with designers.” Bailey said, giving you a dress to change into. You took it and realized it was the same one you had worn on the date with Tom. Bailey saw the look and gave you a “come on, just wear it” look, and you weren’t about to argue with her while she was considering dating for the first time in five years.
“On it, boss. I’ll be back in a bit.”
✦✧✦✦✧✦✦✧✦✦✧✦✦✧✦✦✧✦✦✧✦✦✧✦✦✧✦✦✧✦✦✧✦✦✧✦✦✧✦✦✧✦✦✧✦
Three days later and you were standing in front of the mirror, completely taken aback at your appearance. There you were, looking ethereal in a custom Maison Valentino gown and your makeup done to perfection. The theme for the Met Gala was Ethereal Fairytales, and Pier Paolo Piccioli had outdone himself. Your inspiration was Rapunzel, and you couldn’t be happier with it. The dress was a light purple satin that draped to the floor in a long train. The sleeves were a light chiffon that extended into a lacey, embroidered cape in the back. The rest of the dress was done in brocade, with jewels and flowers sewn into the fabric. With the lace and embroidery, the gown looked much heavier than it was. In reality, it was so light that you felt you were wearing feathers.
“You look so beautiful!” Bailey squealed, clapping her hands behind you. You turned and smiled, thanking Pier for his handiwork. Bailey looked gorgeous herself. She was wearing a strapless pale pink Stella McCartney dress with clear sequins. When you had asked her to come with you to the gala, she’d nearly had a heart attack. And then she had pulled out the only formal dress she had, and your heart nearly broke. Bailey hadn’t bought a new dress in years, though you knew you paid her enough for designer clothes. All the money she made went back to her family, keeping only what she needed to survive.
So you bought the dress for her, whatever she liked. At first, Bailey protested and refused to wear it. She thought it was far too extravagant and she felt embarrassed that you were spending all this money on her. But you assured her that she deserved it, she was the world’s best personal assistant. Plus, Priyanka Chopra was going to be there and she had to look stunning in case they bumped into each other.
They weren’t actually going to “bump into each other,'' you'd asked Priyanka if she would mind meeting Bailey at some point in the night. But Bailey didn’t have to know that. As far as she knew, the meeting would be purely kismet.
“You think so? I feel like a goddess.” You whispered, and Pier nodded in agreement. Bailey took your hand and twirled you around. The dress moved with you, and it made the most beautiful sweeping motion. Your hair was curled slightly and left half up and half down, and somehow Christian Louboutin had gifted you a pair of Degrastrass. Bailey had done her own makeup, she insisted upon it, but you bought her a pair of nude Sandale du Deserts which you wouldn’t let her refuse.
“Well, you look like one. And thank you for letting me come, and spending all this money on me. You shouldn’t have.” She whispered and you slung and arm over her shoulder.
“You don’t have to thank me, we’re best friends first and foremost. I wanted you here, and as for the money it was no big deal at all. I’m just glad you actually agreed to wear everything.” You laughed, and she nudged you slightly. You asked Pier to take a picture of the two of you, and he agreed graciously. You’d post it to your instagram later. After Pier had taken a picture of you and you’d grabbed your clutch, the three of you were planning to leave.
That is, until something on the TV caught your attention.
Pier had turned on the live red carpet updates for the Met Gala, because you loved seeing what everyone was wearing. There were some big names at the event, and Bailey had screamed when Nick and Priyanka arrived. The couples of course looked amazing, and you found yourself wishing that you had a date too. You wished you were here with Tom.
And that’s when you saw them.
Tom and Zendaya had stepped out of a limo, and your heart stopped. You almost weren’t breathing as you realized they were wearing coordinated outfits. Law Roach guided them up the steps and Bailey rested a hand on your shoulder to console you. They looked so beautiful together, you almost cried. Then you remembered Nina Park had done your makeup, so you couldn’t cry. Zendaya was wearing a gorgeous blue gown in the style of Princess Tiana’s from the Disney movie The Princess and the Frog. Except it had been elevated, so that the dress was a modern take. The left sleeve was satin and hung from her shoulder and the bodice was lace to match the lace trimmed hem. Tom was so handsome it hurt. He wore a cream colored suit that was trimmed with gold around the edges. A blue sash went across his chest and it accentuated his body. Tears pricked your eyes and you physically willed them away.
You cried for days over Tom, but you refused to do that today.
“You okay?” Bailey asked, and you nodded, straightening up again. Pier stood by the door, giving you a sympathetic look. You knew he meant well, but it rubbed you the wrong way. You didn’t want people to pity you, you wanted them to just see you.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Let’s go, we’re holding everyone up.” You said, and Pier took your arm to lead you out. Bailey walked behind, making sure your train wouldn’t catch and keeping photographers at a distance. There were lights everywhere, and you could barely focus as the cameras flashed. People shouting your name, telling you to turn, asking you about Tom, it was almost too much. Thank God for Pier, or you would have fainted on the spot. A particularly bold photographer moved forward, jostling to get your attention.
“Y/N! Y/N! How do you feel about Tom and Zendaya?” He yelled, and for a brief moment Bailey looked as though she was about to physically throw him out. But you held up your hand, and tried your best to plaster a smile on your face. Pier steadied you and you gave the photographer a defiant look.
“Why, am I supposed to say something scandalous?” You laughed, and the photographers laughed with you. For the first time in a while, you felt as though you had the upper hand. The photographer went red, but he persisted.
“I mean, how do you feel after Tom dumped you for Zendaya?” He shouted over the noise and your face went slack. You felt sick to your stomach, hearing someone say it for the first time. Sure, you had never officially dated each other, but the man was right. Tom had dumped you for one of the most beautiful women in the world.
Ouch.
“I’m happy for them, Tom and I are just friends. Nothing more. That salacious enough for you?” You asked, and the photographer went silent. Bailey came to your aid and told the photographers to stop asking questions. This wasn’t an interview, she said, and they needed to respect your privacy. Pier took your hand and lead you farther up the carpet. You were still shaking from the encounter, but you forced yourself to smile. Your father had always told you to never let your detractors know they hurt you.
It was a sign of weakness, and you weren’t weak.
“Alright, this stretch is just cameras, Pier will be answering the questions.” Bailey said, and you breathed a sigh of relief. You didn’t think you’d be able to endure any more questions about Tom and Zendaya. Pier stood with you as you posed and looked on as Pier talked about the process involved in creating your dress. From the corner of your eye, you could see Beyonce and Saoirse Ronan climb the stairs behind you. Bailey was watching, completely starstruck.
“See Priyanka anywhere?” You asked and Bailey shook her head.
“No, she’s probably inside with Nick already. It’s fine, it was cool just getting to see her on TV.” Bailey gushed, and Pier helped you up the steps to the top to take your final picture. Bailey stood next to you, because you made her, and you both looked down onto the street below.
“I would never have imagined I’d be here.” You said, and Bailey looked at you. She had more faith in you than you had in yourself, and though she wouldn’t say it aloud, she was extremely proud of you.
“Well, I would have. I know I don’t say this often enough, I’m really proud of you Y/N.” She said, and your mouth dropped a little. Bailey wasn’t one to talk about her feelings, so this was a big deal.
“I love you, you know that right?” You said, and Bailey rolled her eyes. You could see her eyes start to well up, and she dabbed at them lightly.
Awww, what a softie.
“Yeah, yeah. Stop making me cry, my makeup actually looks good today.” Bailey whispered, and she helped you up the stairs as Pier followed. The carpet began to get thinner, until you reached the doors of the Metropolitan. One more step, and you’d be inside one of the biggest events of the year.
“Ready?” Bailey asked, and you smiled at her and Pier.
“As I’ll ever be.” You replied, and with that you walked out of the frying pan and into the fire.

taal can we talk about the bollywood a-listers sTILL sitting with their lips sealed about all the stuff happening in india rn?! i mean i get that publicists are a thing but seriously. nothing!? wasn’t priyanka chopra the brand ambassador of assam when the nrc first got implemented? and while she’s being cradled in her white husband’s arms millions of people are fucking dying because they’re voicing concerns about THIER government? (1/2)
i’m sick and tired of nepotism-endorsing biggies claiming they’re being victimised because they have rich parents every time they’re asked to make a statement about their validity in the industry but when they have to actually speak up about an issue, they’re nowhere to be seen. (2/2)
okay so i think there’s a lot to unpack here so bear with me, this will be long.
i do agree that it’s disheartening that they are not outwardly vocal at ALL about the growing number of atrocities against anyone with the right mind to speak up against a horribly right-winged government that is fussing with laws to make religious discrimination and violence more prominent and frequent. i agree entirely.
HOWEVER, i do think that is us looking at it without taking the consequences into consideration. deepika padukone, who for all intents and purposes is the biggest actress in india right now/has been for the last 7 years, received death threats (to be literally BEHEADED) for playing padmavati by those same right wingers and is now being told god knows what on her instagram after she showed solidarity with the students impacted by violence at the hands of the bjp. her stardom, her worldwide fame isn’t stopping people from threatening her. it isn’t stopping anyone from painting her out as “anti-india” like they’ve called ANYONE who has said anything remotely critical of modi and his goons. it genuinely isn’t stopping her from having feared for her life. i think they managed to attack the padmavat sets and sanjay leela bhansali, too.
so i think when you consider the consequences that include literal violence, death threats, and destruction of their careers, their silence becomes a little understandable. NOT ENTIRELY EXCUSABLE, but understandable. the result is always persecution, in some shape or form.
priyanka, on the other hand, is going out of her way to praise modi. she isn’t silent– she’s OUTWARDLY SUPPORTING a regime systematically stripping muslims of legal status, of autonomy of any kind, of just the right to live peacefully. she’s also shutting people with valid points who ask how she can reconcile her being a peace ambassador and supporting all of this down by claiming it is a result of patriotism rather than clear islamophobia and hindu extremism. im not gonna say anything about her man though because i don’t think her relationship needs to be brought into this.
as for nepotism, i agree with you that all of these starkids run around like woe is me each time someone brings up the ease with which they’ve gotten the opportunities they have. i’ve said it before but they have ACCESS above all else which is the biggest privilege in an industry like this. people work YEARS to even gain an inch whereas these kids are in the rooms, auditioning, getting their first roles without struggles. siddhant chaturvedi said it right when he said, basically, that when you’re an “outsider” your dreams are coming true the minute you get your debut role and your struggle seems to have ended. whereas when you’re “from the industry” your struggle begins after your debut film because that’s when it matters less who you’re related to and matters more what you can do. but oh no, woe is me, people have expectations!! fuck off
i don’t think i covered everything i wanted to and forgive me if i’m not making much sense. it’s nearly midnight and i’m v tired :(
