༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒
Prince Steve was notoriously hard to impress. He had everything and was bored of it all. Even the women that threw themself at his feet and the men that vied to befriend him.
Over the years, he grew more apathetic, forlorn, and distant. Starting on his 20th birthday, the king ordered the best entertainers in the land to attempt to entertain the prince. If they could get so much as a smile, they'd be rewarded handsomely.
None succeeded. Not the grandest story tellers, exotic dancers, praised musicians, or celebrated fools. The king became desperate enough that on the Prince's 25th birthday, he extended the offer to anyone and everyone.
With the large line-up, the Prince was all but falling asleep when a man about his own age walked into the court. The man was dressed about as well as a peasant could manage. At least he'd seemed to have bathed and brushed his hair.
"Name yourself!" Called the king's advisor.
"You can call me 'The Freak'," the man stated with a chuckle as he bowed deeply. "Everyone else does.”
Prince Steve quirked his brow, but remained uninterested.
"Eddie also works," he continued, beaming brightly at the indifferent prince. Out of his pocket, he pulled three wooden balls and began juggling.
Steve rolled his eyes and sighed.
Eddie laughed. "That not good enough for you?" he laughed and tossed the balls higher in the air. "How about that?" When he got nothing, Eddie simply smiled and tossed them even higher, but straight into the air over him. "Yeah, me neither," he shrugged, letting the balls land on his head one after another, giving no reaction.
The strange routine made Steve furrow his brow and sit upright, already far more of a reaction than the others had garnered.
"Y'see, I think everyone tries too hard to impress you with grandeur." Eddie held his arms out and spun on his heels. "Sometimes," he crooned and hopped up on the long table that held the noble's lavish meal, much to the horror of the nobles themself. He paid no mind to their gasps and jeers as he walked gracefully between the plates and goblets.
Steve leaned forward on his throne. He'd never seen someone willing to get up in the huffy noble's space like that, and that alone almost made him crack a grin. The frown was gone from his face and a light gleamed in his eyes.
"We forget that it's the simplest of things that can bring the most joy," Eddie explained with a shining smile as he knelt on the table in front of the prince, reaching forward to tap him on the nose with a small "Boop.”
Steve smiled and huffed a gentle laugh.

Prince Steve is lost in the deep dark forest.
Decided to draw Steve inspired by Ayes and Kleo’s fic However Wild - and heavily inspired by the art of John Bauer.
The fic is a fairytale, so I wanted to infuse this piece with some Swedish fairytale vibe, as a little twist is my own :)

Steddie prompt that I want to read but don't think I could write at the moment. (If it inspires you feel free to write, just do an inspired by thing)
Steve is a prince who would sneak out of the palace to mingle with commoners.
Along the way he meets Dustin and his friends, whose parents had been called away to other countries to make money for their families, leaving their children to the care of family or friends that had since died or abandoned the children.
Steve couldn't take them home but he could keep them provided for.
Anyway, at one point the kids meet Eddie and introduce him to Steve, they fall in love and when Eddie tells him that he's going to take the kids off to find out what happened to their parents, Steve decides to run away with them.
Cue epic quest, where at one point a ritual happens that marries Steve to Eddie to save his life and Steve's has to reassure Eddie he's never been happier.
After finding most of the parents, or finding that they died at one point over time, they begin making their way back to their home kingdom.
Then they hear the their king and queen have died, (finally, most of them think) only Steve now has to tell his friends that he has to stop by the palace, he intends to abdicate in favor of an old friend that he was once betrothed to (Nancy, because he knows she'd be ghost ruling anyway) but he's perfectly happy going on adventures with his husband and the kids they adopted, he doesn't want to be king.
Eddie never lets the king/prince thing go.
Years later on the edge of a kingdom lives an odd couple who sell honey, flowers and trinkets at market, and the elder of the married couple calls his husband your majesty or highness to eyerolls and fond smiles.
The villages find it sweet and endearing and they never know that the younger gave up a kingdom for one silly man who entertains the children with stories or playful quests to pick flowers or some other gift for their king who, by chance, is always played by their leader's husband.
And it may not be a conventional happy ever after that most people think princes get, but it's a happy ever after nonetheless.

Mind if I Drop in? Pt 1
Crossposted from AO3
Eddie wheezes as he spins around another corner, praying he’s put enough distance between him and the rest of the guards for this to work. Stupid fucking castle hallways always looking the same, like would it kill you to put out any artwork? Or just stick one of those directional signs you see at a fork in the road somewhere. Something like ‘dungeon two lefts then a right, thieves of valuable family heirlooms take a right, two lefts, then go up two floors to escape with your goods’. Eh that one might be too wordy.
He shoves the stolen crown in his bag and fishes around in the worn leather for the scroll he needs. Loose papers, no. Song lyrics on scraps of paper, no! …Aha! Bless Dustin he thinks as he pulls out the spell scroll.
“Alright Henderson, let’s hope this works.” He huffs as he lifts his bag onto his back.
Eddie can hear the footsteps and clanking armor get closer as he carefully breaks the seal and unfurls the scroll, taking great care not to touch the sigil until the paper is flat on the ground.
“Freeze!” He hears as the guard catches sight of him. Eddie just grins and gives the man, who is sporting a fantastic mustache in the bards opinion, a cheeky salute as he slaps his hand to the sigil and lets the Teleportation spell activate.
Now, Eddie’s not used to teleportation spells so he doesn’t exactly expect to stick the landing, he is just a simple bard afterall. But he’s definitely not expecting the spell to dump him on his back in a familiar tavern, right into the arms of a stranger. A stranger with very familiar hazel eyes that he must have passed at least three portraits of on his way in. A stranger whose crown is currently sitting in Eddie’s bag.
“Umm, who the hell are you?” The stranger… oh who the fuck is he kidding, Steve Harrington the crown prince asks him. Eddie scrambles out of his arms, knocking over not only the princes’ full cup of beer but also the empty stool next to the prince which falls with a loud clatter and only draws more attention to them.
Steve cringes at the display and tugs his cloak tighter around him. Eddie kind of wants to point out that he’s drawing more attention to himself by keeping his hood up but he was supposed to be in the next town over where his horse and his friends are waiting for him, not here in the arms of the man he just stole from. What the fuck Henderson?!
“Just a bard, got a wonky teleportation scroll is all. I deeply apologize your Highness.” Eddie sweeps into a bow sinking low enough his curls brush the ground. He kinda figured Steve would be pissed about the rough landing and the spilled drink but he’s not expecting the hand over his mouth as Steve manhandles him back to standing.
The prince now has him pinned to the bar, his eyes wild as he glances around to see if anyone heard Eddie, which they very much so did. Eddie never had much of an indoor voice. Steve's hood is slipping off and Eddie reaches out to fix it, not that it matters much. He is surprised though to see Steve flinch when Eddie’s hand comes into view, and not in the ‘oh you surprised me' way.
Before he can ask Steve to unhand him the door to the tavern opens. Several palace guards storm in, weapons drawn.
“Nobody move!” The leader shouts, unfortunately Eddie recognizes him too, and so does Steve from the way fear leaks into his eyes. The guard almost immediately clocks their awkward position and it only takes a second more for the guard to recognize them both. “Freeze!” He shouts and Eddie rolls his eyes.
“Why do they always say that?” He mutters behind Steve’s hand, Steve turns to look at him again in the same moment Eddie grabs a fistful of the inside of Steve’s cloak. Perfect. With a twist of his fingers and a few words Eddie snaps his fingers, sacrificing the handful of fleece he’d grabbed, and causing an illusionary fog to fill the tavern.
Now the entire tavern is shouting and shifting around as Eddie ducks from Steve’s grasp.
“Come on, this way.” Eddie says, grabbing Steve’s arm and pulling him past the stools and out through the back door with ease. Why Eddie did it even he’s not sure, but he’s made his bed now. Sending out a mental apology to his uncle for making a mess in the man's tavern he pulls Steve down the street and through a few more alleys.
Steve struggles against him a bit, “Where are you taking me, let go! Let go of me!”
Eddie yanks them into the mouth of an alley and this time he’s the one throwing Steve against something.
“Unless you want to get us both in trouble I suggest you shut up right now, with all due politeness your Highness.” Eddie hisses, his fingers are likely bruising the hinge of Steve’s jaw but he doesn’t let up. Steve has one hand wrapped around the wrist gripping him, the other he barely notices until the silver glints in the moonlight and Steve swings at him.
“I’m not going back there.” Steve is just as venomous as Eddie springs back before the prince can gut him.
“I don’t give a fuc-” The guards clanking closer causes both of their eyes to widen. Eddie reaches for his belt and lunges at Steve. Metal clashes as their daggers meet between their bodies. Eddie bodily forces Steve back into the wall, panic giving him enough of a burst of strength to catch the younger man off guard.
“Now, either you behave like a good little princess or I’ll fucking gut you right here and now.” Eddie’s lips brush against Steve’s as the lie spills between them. Eddie hates killing, is barely capable of hunting for himself when the moment calls for it. Stevie doesn’t need to know that though.
“You even try and I’ll scream. You’ll be hanged by sunrise.” Steve bites in response, their daggers grinding against each other but neither of them willing to try anything risky to disarm the other.
Eddie’s free hand flashes out and grips a fistful of Steve’s hair yanking his head back harshly. He isn’t expecting the breathy cry that leaves the prince's lips, he clearly wasn’t either going by the flush crawling across his face.
“Oh princess, if you wanted me to make you scream. All you have to do is ask.” Eddie purrs, placing a kiss to the side of Steve’s throat.
Eddie is ashamed to admit that he was distracted enough by the feeling of Steve going boneless in his arms that he didn’t see the prince move. He’s placing an apology kiss to the hinge of Steve’s jaw, fully intent on working his way further in when Steve shoves him off.
They go crashing into the other side of the alley, it’s really not a very wide space, and this time it’s Eddie’s back against the wall. He can feel the points of his stolen prize digging into his back. Before he can make another snarky comment or threat Steve has Eddie’s curls wrapped around his fist and is returning the favor. Eddie moans out, dagger slipping from his grasp as he scrabbles at the wall under Steve. The prince presses the tip of his dagger to Eddie’s abdomen, Eddie thrashes around and manages to get his hand around Steve’s wrist between them. Trying to force the point of it away from his squishy parts, thank you very much. Steve yanks on his hair again, taking advantage of their position to leverage his height against Eddie.
“Well, it looks like you have the same weakness.” Steve smirks, his tongue darts out to wet his lips and brushes over Eddie’s lower lip. They’re panting in each other's mouths now, hands not fighting for the dagger between them gripped onto each other's person.
“I’ve never minded a little pain with my pleasure, your highness.” Eddie pulls against the grip on his curls to capture Steve’s bottom lip between his teeth and give him a sharp nip. He tugs on that sweet fullness as Steve pulls him away, his skull cradled in Steve’s fingers instead of colliding with the brick.

Prince!Steve x Kitchenboy!Eddie
Tumblr media
Hi, all! So, this is my first attempt at writing for this particular pairing. I've been in a hell of a slump recently so please be gentle with me. I started out wanting to write the scene in The House of the Dragon where the guard and the princess get together and somehow it turned into this fluffy shit. Hope you enjoy ❤️
¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤
Eddie's elbow deep in a large pot scrubbing the day's dinner remnants off, lost in thought and humming a tune he'd heard while at the market that morning, he's taken out of his resolve when the door leading to the back of the castle swings open quickly.
"What th - " he starts, splashing soapy water up onto his apron as he turns toward the sudden intrusion. He is at a loss for words once he finally lays eyes on who just came bursting through the door.
Prince Steven.
The two of them lock eyes for a moment, Eddie noticing his tear-stained face and his red-rimmed eyes immediately. Before he can react, say anything of comfort to the poor boy, Steven is ducking his head shyly, mumbling his apologies and hurrying up the few stone steps and out of the scullery.
Eddie can only stand there for a moment, keeping his eyes on the trail the prince left. His chest tightens at how pitiful the boy looked standing before him.
This wasn't their first interaction, not by a long shot. Eddie's Uncle, who stepped in as a father when Eddie's own left him without a home when he was seven, is part of the Royal Guard. It's how Eddie came to work in the palace in the first place.
His Uncle Wayne served King Harrington for many years on the battlefield. When Wayne was wounded and could no longer keep up with the young men coming in to the guard, he was kept on as a guard in the palace - looking after Prince Steven and sometimes the Lady Queen among other noblemen that visited.
Eddie had grown up alongside Steven - though they lived in two very different worlds. They weren't friends, Eddie wasn't simple enough to believe that, most of their 'interactions' involved Eddie watching Steven from afar.
He would watch him practice his archery and sometimes his sword-work, dueling in the courtyard with other boys his age of much more noble birth than Eddie. Usually, that would involve getting caught staring; Prince Steven was attractive, to say the least. With tan skin peppered with freckles, brown hair long and flowing, and eyes that Eddie could get lost in. Eddie usually ended up averting his eyes and trying to hide the blush he could feel burning through his skin and returning to whatever task he was tending to before he got caught in the magnetic pull of Prince Steven Harrington.
Steven, though he seemed about as spoiled as a pampered prince could be, wasn't cruel, not like his father was. The King was known to be merciless to most people and that included his family. He had no qualms putting down the one and only heir to his throne, no matter who was around to witness it.
Eddie had witnessed the King striking his son across the face on more than one occasion. He always secretly wished Steven would fight back.
A child was easy to pick on but as Steven grew older, he'd grown more domineering, his young, lanky body turning into all swollen and hard muscle.
Each time, though, Eddie watched Steven tighten his jaw and retreat into himself more - like he had no other choice than to take the abuse.
That's why seeing Steven so clearly distraught had Eddie a little shaken up. What had happened that was bad enough to make the prince cry - bad enough that he looked well and truly wrecked.
Eddie finished his scrubbing before heading up to the kitchen proper. He scurried by mostly unnoticed by the few ladies still preparing night meals for the royalty in the castle; not a hard feat since most of them never so much as gave Eddie a passing glance.
He froze in his step, eyes landing on one of the many trays about to be taken to each person's bedchamber. Before he could think about how bad of an idea it truly was, he was grabbing a tray and hurrying out of the room headed toward the Prince's bedchamber.
¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤
Steve's eyes burned as he hurried down the dark hallway leading to his bedchamber. He never should have climbed down that damned trellis, he never should have met up with him, he never should have left his bedroom in the first place.
He wishes more than anything he could take it all back.
"Your Grace?" A gruff voice sounds in front of him. He knows it's Sir Munson without looking up, the old man's voice that's become so familiar to Steve, already laced with concern.
"I'm fine." He says weakly, darting inside before another soul can bear witness to his pathetic breakdown.
He hears the guard throw a questioning "Sire?" before the heavy door closes between them. He sags his back against the door, letting a quiet sob escape him as he sits down onto the cold stone floor.
¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤¤
What in the seven hells am I doing? Eddie wonders to himself as he makes his way down the corridor - only the warm light of the candles that hang on the walls lighting his way.
Eddie has been down these halls before but not often enough to feel any sort of comfort in doing so. He has already gotten a few suspicious looks but, thank gods, no one has spoken of it... yet.
He finally comes to the last turn, seeing none other than his Uncle standing watch outside the Prince's door - though, he seems to be pacing rather than merely standing.
His Uncle catches sight of Eddie and stalls his movements his brows raise in silent question. Eddie slows his approach, already telling on himself - his uncle knows him like a book, Eddie makes it a much too easy sometimes. He continues toward the lone bedchamber at the end of the corridor, as in answer to his uncle's unasked question.
He comes to a stop a few steps away, "Uncle."
"Nephew. What are you doing up here?" Wayne asks, Eddie being able to discern his uncle is speaking to Eddie as more of a knight of the Royal Guard and less of an uncle.
"I - uh - I saw the Prince," Eddie begins simply, hoping that would be sufficient but continues when he learns it is not. "His Grace seemed... distraught. I only want to ensure that he has not taken ill." He finishes, hoping his uncle asks no other questions.
Wayne gave him a suspicious look but Eddie could see the tension in his shoulder recede the slightest bit.
"In and out," His uncle stresses, giving Eddie a stern look before turning to knock gently on the door. There's a moments pause, then he hears the muffled voice of the Prince, "Come."
Eddie squeezes past his uncle once he has opened the door. Though Eddie has been down these halls before, he has never entered into one of the royal's bedchambers. He's fairly certain that the tiny house he shares with his uncle could fit inside this room two or three times over.
The entirety of the room is filled with furniture, needless things with fanciful fabric covering each one, tufts of lace and furs decorating every part that isn't. Eddie lets out a chuckle but quickly swallows it down, reminding himself where he is presently standing.
He clears his throat, hoping his voice will come out much more confident than he feels. "Your Grace. I - I have food for the night."
He hears a shuffling on the other side of the wall that blocks what Eddie assumes is the bed from view. "Where's El?" the voice questions, though not out of anger - Eddie hears more concern in his voice.
At that moment, the boy emerges from the other room. A tunic hanging loosely on his shoulders, the laces undone so as to reveal a splattering of dark, course hair across his tan chest. His hair is unruly and Eddie can still see the faint tint of pink on his skin from the tears he shed earlier.
Eddie pulls his gaze away and focuses on the floor, unsure of how long he had been standing there gawking at the fucking Prince of Hawkins.
"I - It's you."
Eddie swallows thickly, only now realizing what a mistake all this truly was. "I..." Eddie stutters, forgetting himself - people have had their head on a platter for far less than forgetting to address royalty properly. "Your Grace. I do apologize," the words come out a stuttering mess but he pushes through. "I - I don't... I should not be here."
Eddie is quick to put the plate down, clumsily of course with a loud clatter, almost causing it to fall off the table entirely. He curses to himself as he turns to leave.
"You - You are Edward?" He hears Steven say and freezes where he is. There's a moment of silence before the Prince says, almost... nervously, Eddie thinks. "Correct? Sir Munson's son?"
Eddie turns around, a mixture of shock and confusion clouding his already anxious mind. How does he - Prince Steven Harrington - know Eddie's name?
"Y - yes, Your Grace. I mean - No, he's not..." Eddie stopped and took as deep of a breath as he could muster. "He is my uncle, Your Grace. But, he is the closest thing I have known to a true father."
The Prince nodded, a smile pulling at the corners of his mouth and Eddie tried to ignore the flutter in his stomach at the sight.
"Is El okay?" The Prince asks, thankfully steering the conversation away from Eddie's rambling.
"Yes. I- I mean, I'm unsure..." He trials off, unsure of how much he should say. He catches the Prince's eye. his brows furrowed in confusion. "I saw you coming back into the castle. Y - you looked distraught. I only wished to make sure you were okay."
"Oh," Prince Steven says but it's a delicate thing.
Eddie lowers his head in a slight bow and finishes with a weak, "I should go, Your Grace."
"Um, I actually - I like Steve..." The prince hurries to say, taking a few unsure steps toward Eddie, catching him before he turns around completely. It's Eddie's turn to look slightly confused. "I like Steve... better than Your Grace."
Eddie can't help when his eyes widen just the slightest bit and it makes a smile spread across the Prince's - no, Steve's - face. If he wasn't already smitten enough over the dashing good looks and the flawless hair, he's certainly a goner with that winning smile.
"I like - um - I like Eddie. Edward is too formal." he says, unable to fight the blush that he knows is creeping up his neck.
"Well, Eddie," Steve pays special attention to the name passing his lips. "Would you like to sit? Have a bit of fruit?" There's something in the question that makes Eddie's stomach swoop. He gives Steve another shy smile and a small nod.
Steve gestures to a seat, big enough for them both, sitting and waiting for Eddie to follow. As soon as he sits beside him, feeling the warmth from the other boy, he hears the large door open and springs back up, distancing himself from Steve.
"Forgive me for this intrusion, Your Grace. Edward I can only assume you have gotten lost on your way home." Lady Joyce, who Eddie knows all too well from his day to day work in the castle, says a little louder than Eddie personally believes is necessary.
"Yes, ma'am." Eddie ducks his head, making a bee line for the still open door where his uncle watches holding the helm of his sword. "Sorry, sorry."
"Edward," Lady Joyce barks, catching Eddie in his escape. "Manners, Edward. He is your Prince."
"Oh," Eddie nods to the intimidating woman, turning and bending into a bow, his arms dramatically floating out beside him. "Good evening," a pause, his head tilting up to watch Steve's eyes dance across his body a the gesture. A rather large smile and a dash of rose coloring his cheeks. "Your Grace." Eddie gives Steve one of his biggest smiles, twirling out of his bow and skipping out the door.
His smile doesn't fade despite hearing Lady Joyce's excuse of kitchen boys not knowing how to be presentable in front of royals or the disapproving (but knowing) look his uncle fixes him with.

For the fairytale and fantasy/royalty AU lovers, I've just published a Steddie Cinderella AU which I hope can bring some holiday cheer :)
It's based on Europe's favourite christmas version of Cinderella, "Tři oříšky pro Popelku," which means it's got a fun little twist to it for those of you who are used to the Disney version.
Three acorns for Eddie Words: 12,564 Rating: Gen Relationship: Steve/Eddie Tags: Royal Steve Harrington, Eddie Munson as Cinderella, Jason Carver being an asshole, Minor violence, First kiss, Getting together, Happy ending
Summary under the read more:
Eddie had thought he would have the whole woods to himself today, all is quiet apart from Brego’s hooves in the snow and his huffed breathing as they canter and jump over fallen logs in their path. But when he slows down for a break he sees people in the distance, their colourful clothes lighting up like beacons between the dark gloom of the trees and the blinding white snow. Eddie halts and jumps off, whispering to Brego to stay still as he sneaks closer.
There are three of them, and Eddie is pretty sure he recognizes one of them as the prince, prince Steve, remembering his face from when the king’s family traveled past their lands last summer. Evidently, he has been blessed not only with the fortunes of royal birth, but with disgustingly good looks as well. His hair catches the rays of sunshine filtering through the trees like drops of golden honey, framing his handsomely chiseled jaw, and the cold weather has given his cheeks a healthy red glow. For some reason it irks Eddie, and he can’t resist the idea of playing a prank on the prince and his friends.
Or: A Cinderella story, where destiny brings Eddie and prince Steve together, but they take it into their own hands to stay together.

Prompt: stuck in a small space
Ship: steddie
Words: 425
Edward swings open the door, preparing to gather the things he needs to begin mucking stables, but yelps in surprise when he finds a person already tucked into the cramped room. Before he can do anything else, a hand reaches out and snatches his arm, pulling him into the small shed.
He falls into a warm, solid chest with an oomph. A large hand presses gently to his mouth and a soft voice urges him to stay quiet.
Edward isn’t surprised so much as he is confused. This isn’t the first time he’s suddenly been pulled into a space and told to hide; Dustin, the cook’s teenaged son, makes it a habit to be as obnoxious as possible while Eddie is trying to work and has, on a few occasions, trapped an unsuspecting Edward in a similar position.
So no, he’s not surprised. But he’s still confused because when he looks at his captor, warm brown eyes and a handsome face are peering back at him.
“Oh.” The hand drops from Eddie’s mouth, gripping his waist instead. “Hello, Edward.”
“Prince Steven,” Edward replies. He knows the prince, of course; Steven is a talented rider and spends much of his free time with the horses.
The rest of his free time is spent with Eddie, in the prince’s ridiculously large and luxurious bed. But no one else needs to know of that.
“May I ask why you are hiding in my shed?”
“Your shed?” Prince Steven asks, eyebrow quirking adorably.
“My stables, my horses, my shed.”
Steven hums. “I see. Well, if you must know-”
Someone goes tearing past the door of the shed. “Steve,” Edward hears Robin, one of Steven’s knights, shout as she passes, “the queen has requested you, and you know how pressed she gets when I don’t deliver you on time-”
“Ah,” Edward says as Robin’s voice disappears in the direction of the castle. “Yes, well, I suppose you can be forgiven if you’re hiding in my shed to keep away from Her Grumpiness.”
“Very kind of you.” Steven’s hand trails down, gripping Edward’s hip and pulling him forward, this time with purpose. Edward grins and goes easily, wrapping his arms around the prince’s shoulders. “I don’t suppose you could spare me some of your time, as well? The lake is lovely this time of afternoon. Not a queen or knight in sight.”
“And abandon my chores?”
“I hear the prince is just as forgiving as you. Come on, Eds, just for a little while.”
“Alright, Stevie. Just for a little while.”

If you see this and want to write it… take it and run. Because I’ve got all the ideas and only 10% of the follow through. So it’s all yours if you want it.
**********
Cinderella retelling where Eddie’s parents are looking for a quick fix to all their problem and when they see that the King and Queen are throwing a ball to find the Prince a wife, they decide they really want their kid to marry the prince. With some quick thinking and a little elbow grease, they dress Eddie up and force him to the palace.
Eddie makes a run for it, ruins his dress (let’s be honest, there’s bats involved) and is sulking on the side of the road when his Good Uncle Wayne rolls in to do what he does best. He wraps Eddie up, reminds him that he’s deserves good things too and, oh by the way, Wayne knows exactly what prince Steve likes… and it’s more like Eddie then anyone in the kingdom ever realizes.
When Eddie arrives at the palace, Prince Steve never even stood a chance.

Mind if I Drop In? Pt 2
Pt 1
Steve’s eyes flicker to his lips and with a sharp inhale the crown prince yanks him in, their lips meeting sharply as they both moan. Eddie releases his grip on Steve’s cloak, instead sliding it up to wind back in those thick brunette locks and yank the younger man's head to a better angle for Eddie to devour his sweet mouth.
Steve’s dagger joins Eddie’s at their feet. The prince’s fingers gripping his hip instead, pulling him in tightly and pressing them together lips to hips. Eddie groans and shifts his weight, curling one leg up Steve’s calf until he can hook his thigh over Steve’s hip.
Eddie honestly feels bad about this, the prince is a damn good kisser. But like he said, he’s not going to jail. He tightens his grip around Steve, making sure he won’t kill Steve when he spins them around and cracks Steve’s skull into the wall. Normally he’d rely on Command or Blindness spells rather than physical violence but Steve is keeping his mouth a little too occupied for verbal spell components. Do both of those spells only require single word activations, shut up.
Both of them were more distracted than they thought, Steve’s hand dragging up his thigh to pull them in closer together while Eddie whined and ground their hips together, meaning that neither of them heard as the guards approached.
Eddie’s face was tilted away from them, hair serving as a veil for them both; while Steve’s mouth was glued to Eddie’s throat, biting and sucking marks that left Eddie gasping into the night.
The guard clears his throat uncomfortably, “Ahem, sorry to interrupt sir but you and your wife,” they all can hear the quiet cringe at the assumption, “need to take this out of the public eye.” Both Steve and Eddie hide their faces in what the guards assume is embarrassment over getting caught during an intimate moment. Nevertheless the guard presses on after coughing uncomfortably, “It’s probably safer for you to head inside anyway, there was a thief in the palace earlier and we believe that he could be a danger to civilians.”
Eddie nods his head with a high pitched ‘mm-hm’ and he and Steve carefully share a look before deciding to ditch the daggers and just run out of the alley gripping onto each other’s sleeves.
They circle around until Eddie leads them to the barn where Wayne lets his guests’ horses stay. Eddie helps Steve climb up the seemingly haphazard stack of crates until they can lift themselves through the hayloft window. Eddie has a little hideaway spot behind the hay bales he uses when he needs to lay low for a night. Eddie isn’t even considering the implications of bringing Steve here until they’re sitting face to face once Eddie has lit his lantern.
“So, a thief in the palace huh?” It’s cramped back here, tighter than the alley. Eddie can see beauty marks littering Steve’s neck now, as well as a darkening bruise in the shape of Eddie’s fingers along his jaw.
Eddie rubs at the back of his neck self-consciously, “I really am a bard I swear, I just took the job to support my uncle.” He pulls his knees up and rests his chin on them, “What about you, what’s a prince doing in a random tavern in the worst disguise ever?”
Steve flushes this time and blows his hair out of his face, “I like seeing the town, and the tavern owner there is really nice to me. I know he knows who I am but he just lets me drink in the corner and get away from everything for a bit.”
Eddie hides his smile behind his knees, that’s Wayne for you taking in strays whether they’re dirty street urchins or the crown prince of the kingdom. “If you just wanted a drink then what was with the whole ‘not going back’ thing, why’d you run with me?”
“I was going to run away.” Steve admitted quietly, “I hate being prince.”
“Pull the other one,” Eddie snorts before catching the heartbroken look on Steve’s face. “Okay, I’ll bite. Why do you hate being a prince?”
“I’ve never been anything but a disappointment to my family. They decided to marry me off to someone who’d ‘make a man’ out of me. They sold me, like I was a piece of furniture. I have no right to the crown anymore.” Eddie watches as Steve picks up stray pieces of hay to pick apart, he refuses to meet Eddie’s gaze.
“Well, that makes this a little ironic then.” Eddie removes his bag from his back, and at Steve’s curious look pulls out the stolen crown. Steve barks out a wet laugh that sends Eddie into a fit of giggles as well.
“What are you going to do with it?” He asks as Eddie fiddles with his prize.
“Well the guy who hired me wants it. Not sure why, let’s just say he’s not fond of your parents' kingdom.”
“Steve snorts, “Well, he can definitely have it.”
“What will you do now?” Eddie asks, tucking the crown away again. It’s getting late and all of the excitement has left him sleepy. Steve chuckles as Eddie yawns before involuntarily copying him, he rubs at his eyes tiredly.
“I don’t know. I left my bag in the tavern when we ran. It’s probably not safe for me to go back and get it, which means I’ve lost my clothes, my supplies, my sword. I’m screwed.” The brunette buries his face in his hands miserably.
“I bet Wayne has your bag safely tucked behind the bar, we’ll get it in the morning.” Eddie chews on his hair nervously, “You could come with me? Meet my group.”
“And do what?”
“Whatever we want, we take whatever jobs we like and I make a fair amount of coin performing. You could come see the world with us, with me.” Eddie blushes under the considering look Steve is giving him.
“And what do you want in exchange? This seems like quite the generous offer.” Steve is leaning in closer, his voice dropping lower. Eddie licks his lips and tries not to groan as Steve’s gaze drops to watch.
“Who says I’m not getting anything out of it?” He murmurs tilting his head to dip in closer. Steve meets him, their eyes slipping closed as they press their lips together. This kiss is gentle, full of hope and promise. There’s a moment when the kiss ends, their eyes meet and it feels like the world holds its breath.
“Ask me again tomorrow?” Steve whispers, leaning back in as his free hand comes up to caress Eddie’s cheek.
“Whatever you say, my prince.” He murmurs, nipping at Steve’s lip again making him groan.
“Just Steve, please just Steve.” They’re panting in each other’s mouths again. Just waiting to see who will break first.
“Steve, Steve. Kiss me.” Eddie yanks Steve down into his lap, pulling on his hair again as they pick up where they left off in the alley.
Somewhere in the distance Dustin is getting scolded by his magic teacher for mistranslating the part of the Teleportation scroll that sends you to where you want. Instead of sending it to where the caster wants safely, it sends you to where the writer of the spell thinks is safe.

The walk with a drunk person in Eddie's arms is hard enough for him. To balance him without letting him fall to the ground in the mud puddles. The room is in the back of the tavern, the giggle of the red head can be heard as Eddie walks the both of them up stairs. Unlocking the door with a drunk, lightweight over his shoulder is harder than he originally expected it to be. Regardless Eddie makes it into the room with the weight of Steve on top of him. Soft murmurs are all that Steve keeps saying. Worries of his friend, sloppy apologies. Eddie rests Steve on the bed. Bed dipping due to the weight of Steve. As Eddie puts Steve down he gets the scent of him stuck in his nose, and head. Flowers, summer, and everything nice in the world. He’s falling in love with Steve already, but he can't. It's just wrong for him to take advantage of the lightweight in front of him.
Steve wraps his arms around Eddie’s neck pulling him down. Further, closer to his face. Eyes staring at each other. “You’re so pretty!” Steve says his nose is brushing up against Eddie’s. Eddie feels his ear go red hot. “Thank you Stevie. How about we get you to sleep.” He says to Steve unwrapping his arms from around his shoulder. He kneels down to his knees in front of Steve. His hands wrapped around one of his ankles. The boots that he’s wearing look mighty uncomfortable. There’s a symbol on the side, yet he doesn’t know what it might be connected to. His thumb grazes over the symbol trying to remember the shape. Only a little light from the lamp is enough to see the young man's face above him. He looks so dopey, a grin on his face as his eyes light up with happiness. “I’m going to take off your boots Stevie, and then take off your overcoat okay.” Eddie says to Steve he only gets a nod before Eddie goes to unlacing the boots, and placing one at a time off to the side of him.
The overcoat is thick, and has the same symbol. This one is stitched in, perfectly without a single stitch out of the way. Eddie takes it from over Steve's shoulders. Folding it and placing it on the chair off to the side. From the shifting to place the overcoat on the chair Steve has fallen back onto the bed. Eddie contemplates whether or not he should get in the bed next to him. The only room they had when Eddie arrived was this one. A one bedroom without much other furniture. He slips out of his own boots, overcoat laying down next to Steve. It’s odd, but Eddie won’t push a boundary of drunkenness just to get what he desperately wants. Steve murmurs in his drunken sleep state. Curling into the warmth that sits between the two of them. He grabs Eddie, pulling them closer together. Eddie can’t help himself leaning into the touch of the other man without even thinking about the consequences. Eddie falls asleep pretty quickly, dreaming of the symbol. The heartbeat of Steve right next to him lulling him to the deepest sleep he’s had in a long time.
Steve wakes up, his head hurts with an aching sort of pain he hasn’t ever felt. A pulse of his head keeps him from noticing where he is until he gets up. The tug, a pull of a body weight on top of him stops him from fully getting out of the bed. Steve thinks for a moment that it’s just Robin, yet he doesn’t remember leaving with Robin. He remembers the thick black hair that is thrown about the pillows. “Fuck!” He thinks to himself. The black haired man, shit what was his name. “Eddie?” He says the name out loud. Testing how it tastes on his tongue and lips. Then he notices that they’re laying next to each other. He worries for a moment. Did they? No he’s still clothed. Maybe they did, and Eddie just put him back in his clothes afterwards.
“Hey, hey Stevie we didn’t do anything.” The voice is coming from next to him. Brown eyes are staring up at him from the bed. “But…” “No, we didn't do anything. Your friend asked me to take you. She found a wench to talk to.” “A wench? What a slut” Steve says at Eddie’s words. Eddie laughs, “well she was very drunk, but so were you.” Eddie says. Steve smiles, liking the little banter they’ve already had. They’re a feeling, the zinging feeling between the two of them. A headache and a smile on Steve's face. “Would you like to get some food in ya?” Eddie asks him. Steve nods, then looks for his boots, “Over there.” Eddie says with a point.
They get dressed, and ready. Overcoat, a huge symbol that Steve doesn’t know Eddie is staring at as they walk down the stairs. “How’d you manage to get me up these stairs?” Steve asks, Eddie’s shrugs. “You’re just light, just like you can’t handle your ale.” Steve blushes, “Whatever, where are we going?” Steve isn’t even worried about where the hell Robin is at least now. “Just follow me.” Steve follows Eddie blindly. Walking in step with each other, they don’t talk but it’s not needed between the two of them. Eddie stops, and Steve bumps into the older man. “Here we are.” Eddie says, waving his hands. An old bakery, “How’d you know this was here?” Steve asks, “I saw it as I walked into town.” Eddie answers. Eddie pays for the biscuits, and pastries. A few coins hit the table. Eddie, and Steve walk side to side together as they munch on their food. “So you aren’t from here?” Steve asks, Eddie nods, “You aren’t either?” Eddie asks Steve, Steve brows knit together. “The symbol on your boots, and overcoat. Steve nods. Somehow as they walk they end up bumping into Robin being kicked out of a brothel. Her cheeks are flush and her shit is being thrown out of the door landing on the ground. “You'll never come here again!” Is being screamed from all of the windows. Steve laughs, and Rob turns to see her friend. “What are you two laughing at?” She asks with sass laced in her words. Robin grabs her things from the ground. “I’ll leave you with your friend Stevie. It was a true pleasure meeting both of you.” Eddie says with a wink towards Steve. Then off he leaves.
“What happened?” Robin asks as soon as Eddie is out of hearing distance. “Nothing.” Steve answers sadly. “Nothing?” Robin repeats Steve's words. “Yeah nothing, he was a complete and utter gentleman.” They stand in front of the brothel. “I think we should go home.” Steve says, “Home?” Robin asks. “I’ll take you home to my kingdom.” Steve says sadly. Getting the last glimpse of the black wavy hair walk away.
The travels back to Steve kingdom aren’t tough, or even bad for the two of them. When Steve and Robin walked through the town Robin was astounded to find that Steve lived in this quaint little town, yet the walk didn’t stop at any of the houses. Instead they stopped at the gates of the castle. Large windows, stained glass, and guards everywhere. “Sir?” One of the guards asked. “Yes, Jeremiah.” Steve answered. Robin had wheels spinning in her head. “How do you know his name?” Robin asked, Steve opted to not answer. “Open the gate!” The words echoed on the inside the gate. “My parents?” Steve asked the guards. “Court is being held, sir.” One answered. Steve nodded his head, and grabbed Robin’s hand. They walked in stow with each other. Steve took a deep breath before nodding to one of the guards to open the doors to court. Screaming, yelling can be heard more clearly as the doors open. “Steve?” Robin asked, “Don’t worry.” Steve said, trying to comfort a confused and worried Robin. Steve hadn’t really told Robin that he was connected to the kingdom they were now standing in.
Voices stopped. “Sir, Prince Steve.” A guard said and then went to their spot. Eyes staring at him, and the lady standing next to him. “Where have you been Steven?” His father asked, “Why… we are in the middle of a battle with a neighboring kingdom? Where the hell do you think you can go without telling your mother, and father?!” Robin stood staring at the court that was held before. War men, guards, fighters. Anyone that could fight was standing there. Hell anyone without a brain was standing in front of the king. “I went away, and it’s not like you noticed at all. You weren’t worried about your only son anyways.” Steve yells back to his father. Regardless of the other men, “Steven, don't yell at your father.” His mother said softly, “No… please let him, because his ass is going to war. He’ll be in the front lines.” Steve’s father said. Sharp eyes behind his words. He looked so smug as he shooed his only son away with the command of war.
A few days later Steve was fitted for his armor. Robin watched and followed him mostly everywhere he went. Steve had thought that maybe his parents would like to know who the hell he had come in contact with, yet that’s not what had happened at all. His parents had given a fucking shit about the women had been following him everywhere he went. Sure Steve had been taught how to fight with a sword, he had been taught how to avoid the sword's sharp end. Steve was tired of doing what his parents wanted him. A part of him was ready to lose his life in the line of war, not for his father, but for the kingdom he lived in.
He stood there at the front of the line, he didn’t have a great speech. He didn’t have shit prepared, He turned on his horse, looking at all the men who were willing to lose their life’s for their kingdom, for their king. All in the name of protecting their large kingdom. Fighting, war was just something that had to be done. To hell with communication not that his father really knew what that word even meant. HIs father knew yelling, sticking the hammer down whenever and however he wished. Sadly his mother went along with it all. Maybe so used to the abuse she opted to never say anything about because that would have been the better choice. Like there was another choice. Either bend to the commands of a rotten person.
The battle had yet to start, and with that everything was silent.
Eddie wasn’t being forced to fight in this battle, but when he had arrived home his uncle had said that a war had started. A war with the neighboring kingdom. Well as far as the neighboring goes it wasn’t close, or far. He wondered what that pretty man was doing now. Why had he left so fucking early. Has there been something there? Did the brown haired man feel the same as Eddie did. Maybe he had felt the same heart beating out of his chest. Maybe Eddie had fallen for a guy he hadn’t even slept with for the first time in his life. For the first time in his life he wished and hoped and prayed that he would see him again. Find him again, say what he was feeling regardless if the other didn’t feel the same. Getting the weight off his chest, so he rode into the battle. Black armor adorned his lanky frame, and for the first time he wanted nothing more then to be done with it so he could find the mystery man he had fallen for.
Was Steve in love? Steve wasn’t exactly sure what love was. Never having a great example of what true, real love was he had a hard time figuring out his feelings. But the feeling he felt when the black haired man came to his rescue, when he walked into the bar and his eyes were set on him. The walking and talking had only made his feelings stronger. The heart beating in his chest whenever Eddie had looked at him. God for the first time in Steve’s life he felt what love was supposed to feel like. God Steve wanted nothing more than to get through the battle and go find the man he had fallen for. Find the man that had been stuck in his mind for the past few days. For the journey home he had dreams about them and saving him, rescuing him from the confines of this horrible home he lived in. He wondered what he was doing, if he was thinking about Steve the same way Steve was thinking about Eddie. Whatever was to happen in this battle with the other kingdom Steve only wished that he would make it out alive, and go find this bright light at the end of the tunnel.
They both stood at the front of the battle. Eddie had memorized the symbol on Steve boots, and overcoat. He had dreamt of it for nights now. What he never thought was that the same adorably pretty man he had seen, and was falling in love with would be standing in front of him at battle. Covered in silver armor. Wild brown air flowing in the wind as he tried to tame it from out of his face. His horse, Amber, had felt the sudden shift in Eddie. The suddenness caused her to come to a full stop. The army being Eddie came to a full stop as well. Steve stood there waiting for the army to come, yet nothing happened. “Men! You stay here for only a moment. Let’s see if I can work something out.” Eddie screamed to the men behind him. His uncle had talked to him about this, even though the kingdom they lived in was dark, and almost gloomy. His uncle didn’t really want to fight this war. He’d rather his nephew come to some sort of conclusion, Eddie had agreed almost immediately. Eddie had yet to tell his uncle of the adventure that had happened, the man he had met along the way. How he wished he could find him once more. Eddie and Amber went to the middle line, and Steve was more than confused, “Yoo all stay here, I don’t want a battle just yet.” Steve yelled to the men behind him. Groans of frustration could be heard. Steve scoffed at the dared attitude. “I swear to the king that if you don’t listen to the damn orders I will have every single one of you in front of the king explaining why you can’t listen.” Steve had never been so short, but he was far too curious to not be hot and heavy with the grouchy old men behind him.
So Steve rode out to the middle of the battle grounds, and the closer he got the more he was able to sense, tell who was standing there waiting for him. The closer Steve got the more Eddie was able to see the symbol carved into the silver armor. The same symbol on Steve’s boots, and overcoat. “Stevie?” He said, as the horse and Steve came to a slow tort. “Eddie?” The surprise was a joyful response to his horrible day. “Holy shit!!” “What… you’re a knight?” Eddie said his words not wanting to come out. “A prince.” Steve answered, “And so are you aren’t you?” Steve added. Eddie nodded. “What are you… what are we supposed to do now?” Steve asked, Eddie thought for a moment. Horses talking to each other. “I think that we shouldn’t go to battle.” Eddie said plainly, reaching out to grab his hand. “I will lead my army away, if you just answer this one question. Do you…” Biting his bottom lip. “Yes, since the days you walked away. I’be thought about you and only you. Wishing, and praying that this battle would be over and I could go back out and find you.” Steve said a bout of confidence coursing through his body. “Oh thank fuck, I was hoping for the same damned thing.” Steve smiled at the older man. “So what do we do now?” Steve asked Eddie. “We lead the army away and we go to your kingdom, we find a new one. Better way to go through this. You know we combine our kingdoms. Support each other for the better.”
