So I’m in my Game class which is just 20 students on my team working away, meeting up, and ultimately making a game happen together.

This year I’m seated next to one of our programmers who has recently learned something about me. They have unlocked the secret to my Very Stupid sense of humor.

The first time it happened we were looking at new grass assets that had just been added to the game and another programmer said, “Ooh, I could just roll those up and smoke ‘em.” I died. My desk buddy looked at me with amused fascination.

Last week I showed them the steamy art I’d made of Jazz and Sabine, arguing that it wasn’t too smutty because nothing was showing. They looked at my phone. Then up at me. Down at my phone. Then said flatly, “You know what they’re doing.” I fucking died. They were tickled to have gotten me to laugh that hard, and I could see the growing power behind their eyes.

Today we were working quietly next to each other. I was animating. They were coding. And then apropos of nothing they turned to me and said, “Megamind is a lesbian.” I laughed. So hard. That everyone else in the team was like ???? The worst part is they’re not wrong! But I have no idea why what they said feels true!
