I know that there are pple who always insist to take everything at face value. Anon, you honestly cannot expect normal behaviours from situations that are not normal at all. You are talking about Jk not showing up at Jimin’s stage and him refusing to go see Jimin perform even after Jimin asked. So let me ask you and many others who maybe didn’t notice this or find anything weird about it. So we’ve seen a pattern of all the members at some point showing up to support each other by surpring each other maybe during their practice, shooting or perfomance. Somehow there is always the element of suprise and that is exactly what V did with Jk too. So now, did no one find it weird that Jk had to ask or kinda tell Jimin that he wanted to go see him perform on stage? Why did he have to ask for Jimin’s permission b4 going to support him? Hobi didn’t, Suga didn’t, V didn’t none of the members asked for permission b4 to go support the others so why did Jk feel the need to ask Jimin if he could go see him perform? This was a lil weird to me at the time but I didn’t think much of it until after the flirty Live those two did few days ago. Jimin said he was going to go to Jk AFTER his promotions were over and it kinda seemed like JM was making all sorts of excuses not to go to Jk or not to let Jk go to him. I could be rambling idk but it got me thinking about 2 instances in the past. JM was trynna cook and Jk tried coming close but JM sent him away saying Jk made him nervous. Even when JM was recording Serendipity, he asked Jk to leave too cuz he couldn’t concentrate with Jk there. Are you picking up what i am putting down? What if Jk didn’t go see Jimin perform and had to ask Jimin if he could go see him perform cuz he knew that Jimin wouldn’t be want him there probably cuz him being there would make Jimin nervous or distract him somehow? Cuz I can’t think of any logical reason why Jk had to ask Jimin if he could go see him perform when he could have just surprised him like the rest. Also, think about it, Jk is just not an asshole who didn’t care to go support Jimin. Whether u think they are dating or not, Jk is not an asshole and he clearly loves Jimin and Jimin is clearly important to him. So how do u explain him not going to see Jimin perform? Same goes for Jimin. Everyone knows Jimin is one if the most supportive members of BTS. He shows up for EVERYONE! Didn’t anyone find it strange that he didn’t go watch Jk perform too? I have no doubt that he would have showed up if it was anyone else, so why didn’t he show up for Jk? There are patterns being broken here and only when it comes to Jikook. I can’t place my finger on it, but certain things they do just don’t make alot of sense.

What is my point? My point is, I don’t think Jk not going to see JM perform was his choice! And I believe so because he didn’t have to ask for Jimin’s permission b4 going to support him. If he felt the need to ask, that tells me he kinda already knew that for some reason, Jimin might not want him there, and it was also weird that he choose to ask Live where maybe he felt like Jimin wouldn’t be able to say no! We all know damn well that so many jikookers would have stopped shipping Jikook since chapter 2 if we only had to depend on Jimin! Jk has been the only one holding this fort down! Jimin really doesn’t do anything to feed Jikookers. Also, we see how much Jk debunks Taekook all the damn time but he hasn’t in anyway tried to debunk Jikook, if anything he if feeding us fat! So that’s how i kinda know that Jimin is the one probably stopping many things from happening now. I don’t know his reasons but I honestly feel Jk is kinda done with this hiding shit. Anyways i just wanted to share my 2 cents. I haven’t ever seen anybody mentioning this so i just thought i’d see what u guys think about it.

Oh lord I just saw a post saying white woman are more violent than white men and I was like what?? Also so many people on this site act like WOC are not misogynistic. And when they are they often tend to direct their misogyny to other woman of colour. This is what happens when you are so wrapped up in identity politics.

For sure. When white women loudly and constantly self-flagellate about being privileged over people of color, it centers themselves in talks about racism and doesn’t actually help people of color in a material way. I just flatout don’t believe in standpoint theory like of course racism and misogyny and other isms impact the way we move about in society but fixating on identity as some kind of checklist doesn’t help anybody.

When people claim white women have never been oppressed, they’re really telling on themselves. With abortion for instance, Black men aren’t directly impacted by it while white women are, like this isn’t a complicated concept and yet, I’ve seen Black men on Twitter claim that they’re more oppressed than white women because sundown towns exist and Black people couldn’t travel freely in the past. Nobody’s saying those things aren’t true and Black men aren’t marginalized for their race but right now, Republicans aren’t trying to criminalize Black people from trying to cross state lines, they’re trying to ban interstate travel for women of all races getting abortions. 

And you’re right, white men never self-flagellate, they just blame white women (or women of color who are white-adjacent cough) while taking no responsibility for their own actions, and I’m completely over it.

What is the fic you’ve written with the Angstiest ending?

Don't Fall Away (as a sort of open-ended, who-knows-what-comes-next quality to it, even though the major theme is resolved. That's as angsty as I’ll get.)

Apparently, yes. Don't Fall Away. (so far, gimme a minute)

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Yep.

Yep. uh, what kind? 

Romantic? Satisfying? Silly? Emotionally charged? LOL.

Mostly I write explicit M/M, but also some F/M, but I think maybe this question is really asking about handling purple prose or strange/vague euphemisms for genitalia or actions. 

Frankly, I use the words: cock, balls, ass, n*pples, lips, and clit shamelessly whenever needed. I probably do wax a little poetic for what the participants are feeling/thinking whilst getting down and dirty. It always feels a little mechanical to me, but I keep trying, hopefully improving. I hope the reader can envision the enjoyable sex the characters are having without it detracting from the story when it happens, because it's both necessary and gratuitous to each instance it occurs. And my characters always have the good sex. 

But I'm thinking I should really write a sex scene equivalent of "it's like pizza; even if it's bad, it's still pretty good!" because it would be funny to have mediocre sex in a fic for a change instead of an Earth Shattering Bang, and I like humor a lot. Humor always has a place in the bedroom. Even the fictional ones.

*sighs deeply* Frostiron has been my chosen ride or die OTP since around 2013. And I don’t see it changing anytime soon.

I am a ship and let ship soul, though. I've read enjoyable fics with every possible MCU character pairing published through about 2015-2016. Same goes for Hiddleston (and Hiddleston characters) and add your plus one or more combos (OFCs, OMCs, reader inserts, self-inserts, crossovers, free-for-alls, etc. I kink shame no one, even if they run up on a squick of mine, that’s my issue and not anybody else’s). I head canon a whole lotta love for shipping with lots of fandoms I don't explore overmuch. We should all ship all the ships we want. (Han/Leia and Westley/Buttercup are my original canon OTP ships.)

I had to fly by the seat of my pants for each piece, had no idea if I could let it end up without a proper ending or tied up loose threads. ASE is a collection of writing exercises (write quick-under 2 hrs, publish quick-within 24hrs of taking on the prompt, 500 words or less). It really built my confidence in my ability to tell a story. Two of the prompts were written on the same day, the other 18 were one per day, all of them related, and tied up with a neat little explicit bow on chapter 20.

Totally with you on the “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything” approach to bookmarking / commentating on fics but is it possible that the “F” bookmark tag isn’t a “grade” F but stands for something like “fav” or “fic” or “future read”? purely because I’ve seen plenty of people come up with their own bookmark tag shorthands...I don’t know why anyone would fill up their bookmarks with fics they didn’t like...

Oh, my post isn’t about the “F”, bc I agree with you, there’s no knowing what the F stands for. It’s about the “YuriOnIceDecent”, special emphasis on the “decent” part. The person in question has their bookmarks in collections, which are separated in “[insert fandom name]Brilliant” and “[insert fandom name]Decent”.

I think it’s a valid bookmarking system, bc then they can remember what they LOVED and what they thought was just okay (though I, personally, don’t bother bookmarking fics I find only “decent”, but everyone deals with bookmarks differently. Some pple use bookmarks to signal fics they’ve already read, for instance). But leaving that “decent” open for the authors to see is hurtful and 100% unnecessary. Seeing your fic’s bookmarks and finding a “yes, well, your fic is decent enough, I guess” is not the best feeling. I was just about to start a writing session, and after that, I went full “pff, well, why bother”, you know? It’s also made me consider NOT allowing pple to add my fics to collections anymore, if they’re gonna use it to put my writing down.

They could leave the “[insert fandom name]Brilliant” bookmarks open, so the authors included in it can see and feel praised for their hard work, and the “[insert fandom name]Decent” bookmarks secret, so they don’t discourage writers from, well, writing, and creating the free content readers enjoy. The only thing they have to do is check another box; not too hard, I think.

I read the previous ask and i would like to give my opinion on something! I see many Jikookers who are of the opinion that Jikook are trying to let us know who and what they are to each other! So many pple believe that they are trying to tell us or leave clues! While I don’t completely disagree, I don’t completely agree either.

This is the thing, i think Jikook would love for their supporters and fans to know but I don’t think they are trying to get us to know! I know that in the past and even recently , they did certain things which were very loud and revealing about their relationship but I don’t think they did them because they were trying to tell us! They are hidden and that could really be frustrating at times cuz they would like to just love each other openly and freely so sometimes their emotions get the best of them and that is when we have those extremely loud moments! The other more subtle moments we get are either from muscle memory or them just acting like they usually do when they are alone, or just simply because Army have 20 20 vision lol! We literally catch everything! Some other times are just moments we were not supposed to see or know about, for instance; Car Selfie, Jikook getting into Jk’s hotel room 2gether, Jhope JITB party etc. I have also seen so many Jkkrs saying that Jikook intentionally wanted to show us the hickey Jm gave Jk but i really don’t think so! I know my opinion is unpopular but I don’t think Jk was proudly showing us what his baby did to him the night b4! I’m not sure why he didn’t cover it up, (he honestly might not have noticed it, or maybe he didn’t think it will call attention, or maybe he did notice it but forgot to cover it up) but I don’t think he intentionally left the mark there for the world to see!

You may ask why i think they are not trying to get us to know and my answer would simply be, Because there is alot to lose and alot at Stake! Them being outed will not only affect them! It will affect the group, themselves, their families, friends and loved ones! Plus i am sure they know that I-army doesn’t really support them as a pair based on all the hate Jimin gets! Now why do i think so, mainly because of panicky Jk! JM is a bit more relaxed and it is hard to pick things up with just Jimin because he is affectionate with everyone( even though there is a difference with Jk) but the person who gives everything away almost always is Jk! And it is ironic because he is the more panicky one, yet he is the one who really put Jikook on the map! The moments he initiates are literally the loudest and most telling Jikook moments and when you think about panicky Jk it is really surprising some of the loud things he has done for Jimin. This all made a lil sense to me after i saw that interview with Calvin Klein where Jk said, even though he is extremely shy, he gets really bold when it comes to things he wants and desires! Jk has never been as bold with or for anyone as he is with Jimin! Also if we have to go by the narrative that they are trying to let us know, then it will negate these moments when they are clearly being extra cautious and we (jkkrs) risk sounding like (Tkkrs) who claim Tk are open one day and hidden the next depending on the interaction they see. Those moments when we get raw, loud Jikook are just moments when they give in to their feelings and emotions and let go of logic, not moments when they are actively trying to be loud or open! In situations like this, those moments are bound to happen. It’s just like they have held in alot for so long and sometimes they have to relieve themselves and that’s when we get PG 18 Jikook lol!

So like i said earlier, while i do accept that they would love for us to know once and for all, they are not trying to let us know. Maybe not as much as we think they are anyways, if not, how do we explain those moments were they are so cautious that it almost looks awkward? How do we explain the BTB where Jk went to JM’s rehearsals? Truth be told that interaction was awkward as hell and hard to watch! Jk couldn’t stop staring nervously at the camera and he was so stiff and didn’t look relaxed at all! We all know it’s not because he hates Jm like the cult claims, so what other reasonable explanation do we have for that other than the fact that they were trying so hard to act normal around eo so as not to give too much away that it just ended up looking painfully awkward? They seem to have completely forgotten how to behave around eo when infront of the camera especially when the other members are not around! This is just my opinion ofcourse!

It's interesting reading your asks and seeing that there are pple who do see that Kara and Lena's relationship is far from perfect and is actually very very one sided. My biggest issue heading into s5 is the apology thing why don't pple understand that KARA DOES NOT OWE ANYONE HER TRUE IDENTITY. The show is gonna make Kara apologize like they always do but she shouldn't.

Also the cold Kryptonian thing, there has been 2 instances that always get me, the 1x13 scene and the 3x09 scene before she fights reign, that look Mel gets as she walks out of the DEO room, literally shivers. After Alex says be cold, be Kryptonian. Literally sooo grateful they found a great actress who can say so much with a look. (2/2)

Hello, my darling! I mean I’m not the authority on anything but I do feel like that in order to claim the bisexual title you should have more than one instance where you found yourself attracted to other women.

I think sexuality is absolutely spectrum where even straight pple aren’t necessarily fully straight, but there is a difference between being attracted to a specific person vs. an entire gender.

What's popping, disableds and ableds! I'd like to take a bit of your time to talk about some ways you can better understand and help out the physically disabled community in our fight for a better world for everyone.

It's no stretch to say that society's perception of physical disability is far less than favorable. This is largely due to the fact that things are structured in such a way that we end up ostracized, and that exclusion ends up needing justification (because of course the system couldn't be the problem! nahhhh.)

Thus, the narrative of inferior, incompetent cr*pples reigns supreme.

It doesn't have to be that way, though. In fact, many activists are fighting to reframe the view of disability and overall create a more accessible world. Here's how you can help with that!

1) Study up on the social model

In our current society, many professionals and groups in general view disability as a problem to be overcome or solved.

This is not only inaccurate but extremely harmful. It puts the blame entirely on an individual disabled person instead of the system that actively holds them down.

“In a similar manner, the inspiration porn, moral, and medical models all frame disability around a deficit model and hold expectations that disabled people must find ways to mold themselves into ableist standards of normativity" (L Steinberg)

These views are reductive and dehumanizing. Enter: the social model, which acknowledges the inaccessibility and other forms of systemic oppression disabled people face.

In her artlcle discussing positive exposure of children to disabled peers, Associate Dean/Professor for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Soo-Young Hong argues that direct, authentic interaction with disabled people leads to a more positive view of disability overall.

3) Amplify disabled voices and contributions

Platforming disabled people to speak freely on our lives is extremely important to communicating this. Elevating us as we speak freely on our own lives results in a broader and more accurate picture of the disabled experience.

In a study conducted by Naomi Sunderland and other Griffith University Researchers, the importance of letting us do the talking for ourselves:

“Hence, the (interview) genre itself creates opportunities for the participant to talk about highs and lows, the past and future. They are not defined by their disability within the interview (apart from the criteria for inclusion) or any kinds of impairment in the context of their own story and questioning is not limited to a time when the participant was actually considered to be disabled” (Naomi Sunderland et al).

4) Watch your microaggressions

The Oxford Languages dictionary defines the microaggression as "a statement, action, or incident regarded as an instance of indirect, subtle, or unintentional discrimination against members of a marginalized group such as a racial or ethnic minority."

Every marginalized group has to deal with microaggressions, frequency varying. With disability, the more identifiable one is as physically disabled results in more instances.

The keyword within the definition is unintentional. We know that most of the time you mean well, but trust me when I say that even something with the purest intentions can be really damaging.

Ásta Jóhannsdóttir et al delve into internalized ableism’s implications in their article for the University of Iceland’s schools of Education and Social Sciences. The article states that microaggressive ableism “leads the targeted disabled people to question their perception of it through microinvalidation, which can lead to self-blame and therefore contributes to the internalization of ableism” (Jóhannsdóttir et al).

First things first, it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with ones that are normalized and near-universal.

5) Spot the ableism & Speak up!

Harmful ideas about physical disability are baked into the crust of everyday life.

Oftentimes, the most common of them relate to

(I say this as someone who hates pen) it’s pretty delusional to assume that pple don’t self insert themselves into Kate as well when reading tvwlm. large amounts of romance readers self insert or romance novels almost encourage it. I thought it was meant to be about woman’s desires. that’s why there is so much focus on the male heroes. tbf most JQ heroines read like self inserts. like are we going to pretend that shippers for philoise, benophie or kanthony don’t also self insert. they may not ship the female hero with everyone but let’s not pretend they are above the whole thing

It's not that readers don't self insert while reading romance– of course they do! Of course I identified with my favourite female heroines in JQ books and in other pieces of literature and/or media. What I'm referring to with Penelope's character (which happens in many fandoms) is taking self insertion to another level and shipping a particular female character with any and every male character in the book/show, including those she barely interacts with.

I'm sure Kate/Sophie/Francesca fans also identify with them (I know I do), but you won't see fans shipping Sophie for instance with Simon, Anthony, Colin, Michael and practically any man that exist in the Bridgerton universe.

I expect nothing less of her. She gives major Kendall Jenner lesbian teas to people, the black community collectively thinks she's gay. I never paid attention to the promotional period of greatest showman, so idk how her and zac's interactions were outside all we have publicly seen, but she's midlly an idiot for not at least doing some PR with him. Her skin may be mildly brown but culturally, personality wise and social wise she is probably living a very white lifestyle so It may make more sense for her to date a black guy. Culturally for instance I would fit better with a black guy on the day to day, but other than that dating out / dating white would be best for me.
