Ages ago a friend of mine gave me a collection of teeny-tiny feathers from her pet budgies & I've finally found the perfect home for them - as antennae for these little MothPals!!
I love how the contrast of clay & dainty feather really brings these guys to life (though I have no idea how I'll protect the feathers when these guys get shipped...guess that's a problem for Future Me!).
It's been 2 years since I used clay for the first time and fell in love. I love it even more every time I work with it.
Clay is a living thing. It has intuition, and insight into the individual's state of mind. It doesn't just change shape as it's worked with, it responds to the individual's touch, intention, and emotional state. And that is when it truly comes alive. A synergy is created between the individual and the clay. That synergy creates infinite possibilities between and within the two.
When possibilities become infinite, one experiences true freedom. Liberation transforms into ecstasy. The rapture gives birth to passion.

Some more SPINX™ content!! First eight images are from when an obliging studio sunbeam helped me really show off the subtleties of some of the glazes, and the last four show some of the guys post-gold lustre firing — I love love love how much a little bit of gold adds to the glamour of these pals!
I'm hoping to have time to photograph all my finished pieces this weekend so I can do a shop update (shop link is in my blog description) in the second half of next week...I'll update as soon as I settle on a day-time.
