I was thinking in how Nicky got custody for the twins when he was just barely an adult and it made me so sad.

Like I know in reality this couldn't happen bcs the short age gap between them, but for the sake of this post and the books we shut up that argument.

I usually see people talking about this and how he had to left Erik and go back to a place that reminded him of all the ways he was miserable and didn't fit in but nobody talks about how painful had to be the legal process for him.

Of course his parents were the first option for the justice and sure as fuck they wouldn't hand Aaron and Andrew to Nicky and his "deviant lifestyle" willingly, they were sure they could "reform" the twins and make them trusted member of (their) society. So it had to be a courting when Nicky stepped up.

He had to see the people who wanted nothing with him and hurted him fight to get his cousins, and I'm so sure they told him something about having "sons" that broke his heart in a million pieces.

They tried to make him look unfit, probably using his depression (that they caused) in their favour, making him relive that awful part of his life he was just healing from.

And when he won?? He had a judge rule that the people that raised him (and he loved despite all the terrible things they did) were unfit to raise a child. He had that said to his face and handed him in paper.

Those days were probably full with heartbreaking talks with Erik and thoughts of quitting, but he loved Aaron and Andrew so much more than he hated himself that he stayed.

Here is a blast from the past (December 2020) when my fellow Nutella-addict Nicholas Latifi tried to convince George Russell he should be allowed to join the gang:

“You need to start a petition here to abolish the Twitch Quartet because I was heartbroken that I wasn’t a part of this,” Latifi joked as he discussed New Year’s resolutions with Russell.

“It should have been the Twitch Quintet, I mean I was one of the originals on Twitch. And of all the racing drivers that got into it, and I was just not included, so whoever came up with the Twitch Quartet we’ve got to have a word. So as a member [looking at Russell], we’ve got to make it the Twitch Quintet.”

To Latifi’s demand, Russell replied: “The Twitch Quintet, it doesn’t quite have the same ring. I’ll bear it in mind. No promises, because it is very exclusive, I’ll put in a good word to the president and see what I can do.”
