Blind Watch BSD Season Five

I Feel Spiritually Unwell After That. Unfortunately @wafflesarecool and @animusmelodiam and I have completed season five of BSD. fortunately this means I can come back to Tumblr to not avoid spoilers Animus kept reblogging. However, as was pointed out by Animus before we started, this was very stroke inducing.

ASSASSIN’S MODERN DAY PROFESSIONS

ALTAÏR

College Professor

-We all know that Altaïr has spent most of his life teaching, so what better job does he have than a college professor?

-He knows what he’s talking about, that much is certain, but sometimes he gets a little too lost in his lesson to realize that his students are scratching their heads. So it’s normal to have students staying after class, but they leave understanding every word of what he said.

-He’s not the fun teacher, but he’ll be able to teach you what you need and still remember it at the end of the day.

-He’s pretty lenient, and even with the obnoxious students who cause a scene, he calmly gets them to at least do their work.

-Other teachers always use him as a reference when it comes to the perfect teacher.

EZIO AUDITORE

-I can see Ezio being a public speaker since he’s not all that scared of crowds and spends a lot of time giving advice, so I think he’d really enjoy being able to help a crowd of people whose lives are falling apart

-Ezio would be the single anchor in a sea of storms because he always seems to have an answer for everything. He’s a man whose words are turned into inspirational quotes that people hang on their walls.

-When he says that things will be okay, no one doubts him since they know that he lost his father and his brothers very early on and that it took years for Ezio to accept the loss the way he had. If he could soldier through it, why couldn’t they?

-He doesn’t involve himself in politics, finding them to be a waste of time and breath despite how many people ask for his input on the political status of the country he’s staying in.

-He speaks to a lot of people in private, letting them speak their minds and giving his advice if they want it. He’s a therapist without a license, and you always feel hopeful about life leaving his office.

Connor

Construction or Sports

-This boy was designed for heavy work, and I’ve heard some good points in saying that not only would he be amazing at sports, but he’d also really enjoy it too.

-In my personal headcanon, I think he’d be a good construction worker as well. Not the high end kind that build skyscrapers or anything, but I can see him building simple houses for small communities, taking the lower jobs that can’t afford much help like the sweetheart he is. He definitely volunteers to make houses for the homeless.

-Since most of the homeless he helps don’t have much money, he makes sure to offer them baked goods because he’s definitely a baker.

Edward Kenway

-As a young man, he joins the navy

-Once he’s on his own, he buys his own boat and treats it like royalty.

-He’s not a pirate himself, but he does let less legal people on board for a price. At the time, it was just an easy cash pay since people paid good money when they were desperate.

-When he’s older and gets a grip on some of the people he’s helping (like the REALLY bad criminals) he quickly lets it go.

-Yet after seeing some of the more decent people and the places they were running from, I can see him being a sort of smuggler, but instead of smuggling drugs or weapons, he sells medicines, canned foods, and clothes to the regions where they’re scarce or hard to pay for.

-When he’s older and found a fortune over time, he starts up his own official charity, hiring various sailers to sail supplies to more places than he himself could alone.

SHAY CORMAC

-Okay, I have to say it. Shay would DEFINITELY be an FBI spy. Maybe I haven’t thought of it as heavily as I could, but he just strikes me as a man who could kill someone in plain sight and still not be seen.

-He already knows everything he can about infiltrating and getting vital information

-He knows exactly how to manipulate people to get what he wants.

-He’s like Macgyver but as an agent.

-He does things that make sleeping at night impossible, but he tells himself that every long night for him is another person somewhere else having a peaceful night, and peaceful nights means he’s doing his job. Right?

-Constantly questions his morals, but he can’t bring himself to stop, not knowing that he’d do if he stopped, because at least here he’s doing something. He’s contributing.

-That and maybe I might or might not want to see Shay in a suit 🤷‍♀️

AVELINE

-Actress. And a damn good one. She’s one of the kind of people who get paid millions each job and gives most of her cash on people who really need it. Not only that, she’s a fan favorite everywhere.

-She takes extra jobs in smaller businesses barely staying afloat, and public morality boosts has nothing to do with it. In fact, she keeps her fame life out of everything, choosing to see it just as another job.

-I can see her sharing similarities of Zendaya or Zoe Zaldana

ARNO DORIAN

-High school teacher or actor, I can’t decide.

-Because let’s be honest, this guys brain is more wrinkled than a raisin. He knows his stuff.

-He’s good at simplifying what he’s saying, and that happens to be a very useful trait when it comes to teaching.

-If he was a teacher, he’d be a damn good one, that’s for sure. No one will fail his class because he’s so good at explaining things, and he’d be the one who actually cares for his students.

-When it comes to acting... just admit that Arno’s a theater boy through and through. If you need proof, he’s the only one with a crazy amount of fancy robes and colors. FOR GODS SAKE HE OWNS A THEATER! So on modern day, I could totally see him as an actor as well.

-He’d be the Ewan Mcgregor of the modern day, because everyone recognizes him from SOMEWHERE because he’s really tested his acting ability on multiple various roles. Well read, charming, and level headed, he’d totally rock being an actor. He’s good friends with Aveline, and when they both have time in their busy schedules, they stop by for coffee and fill each other in on their life.

JACOB

-Boxing

-I saw the photoshops of Jacob in boxer life, and I have not been the same because oh my god that is amazing.

-but absolutely he’d be a boxer. He’s the shortest guy in the entire match, but he doesn’t need a stool to knock you on your ass before you can laugh about it.

-His opponents are lucky shattering bones is against the rules because he knows how to make someone wish their dad wore a condom.

-A lot of people think that his rounds must be rigged, and his sister had to physically hold him back every time Jacob threatened to give him a close up of how ‘rigged’ his fights were.

-Jacobs a powder keg, so it doesn’t take much to make him explode, and a lot of the less respectful people he has to fight picks particularly sore spots to do just that.

-He might be pissed, but his punch isn’t the only thing that stings. He knows exactly what words to use, and when they’ve gone too far, he doesn’t hold back.

-Might have a temper, but he has a good heart despite it all. He visits schools and completely turns his personality around with kids. He signs autographs, takes pictures, and makes sure that every one of them have a fun day because he knows that there’s some kids in this school that don’t have those kinds of days. He pays the school for field days each time, making sure they all get out. They bring out the scooters, parachutes, capture the flag, and ‘wrestling’ matches for the kids who want to face him. He loses every time. He never has a bigger smile on his face than when he has children fans walk up to him.

EVIE

-She is totally a lawyer and you can’t change my mind.

-Logic and Facts are her strongest weapons, and so far she has yet to lose a debate.

-Every other lawyer knows that seeing Evie walk into court is an instant death sentence, because like her brother, her words are sharp as a knife and her mind is even sharper.

-If they didn’t look identical, no one would believe that she would be related with Jacob the hot headed boxer, because she was level as water and was near impossible to make angry, but god help the poor sod that presses her.

-Her clients almost always get the best case scenario with Evie by their side by how good she is.

-Also like her brother, children are her weak spot, and her hard composure melts whenever she needs to speak to a child in the witness post, making sure that the child feel comfortable unlike the others that drill the kid with questions when they’re too skittish to answer. She takes her time and gets the kid feeling safe, and gently asks their side.

-Evie might not do it as a profession, but Evie has beaten Jacob in the boxing ring in the gym. She knows damn well how to handle herself, knowing she’d need it since she’d be fighting corrupt politicians or gang members who have too often tried attempts at her life. Every time she emerged unscathed, using the attempt at even more evidence against them and insuring a spot in jail. No one dared try attacking her again after that.

BAYEK

-I’m thinking police officer or motivational speaker for trauma.

-Either way, he’s a guardian who takes care of the people he’s in charge of. He knows words well, and having been down the dark path himself, he knows exactly what people experience and what they want to hear.

-Be the change you want to see in the world, and that’s exactly what he’s doing.

-He’d be a well respected officer, and he’s not afraid of telling off a comrade if someone is wrongfully accused. He’s not very popular in the police station, but as long as he’s doing his job, he’s satisfied.

-He’s saved several people over the course in his life, and his word is well honored since he’s on no ones side. He sees things as what they are and doesn’t twist events he disagreed with to his point of view. Even if it hurts him personally, he doesn’t lie.

-He’s divorced, but they’re still best friends with each other and visit when they can.

-She is hands down a self defense teacher for women

-She sells hidden self defense tools for less than ten dollars, always sure to keep constantly supply of them since many have confessed that they’ve saved them from dangerous situations.

-Like her former husband, she’s a protector and makes sure she provides her students with the best.

-She teaches children what to do if they ever get grabbed, and she’s had many parents in years thanking her when that information ended up saving their child’s life.

ALEXIOS

-Hands down he is a stunt double

- Preferably Arno’s since he relies more on flexibility than brute strength. Then there’s the fact that they look similar enough in features

-He does the moves that would probably be safer if they were just CGI, but he hates those computers with a passion, preferring to do the real thing instead of giving out something fake. He’s broken more bones than he can count, and the companies he works with always have a medic on standby when something goes wrong.

-They tried convincing him that they only needed him for a few spots, but after realizing that he wanted this (and him assuring them that he doesn’t bother with suing), they let him do his thing. The results are fruitful since the most nitpicky movie fans are absolutely thrilled when there’s a particular move done right.

-He teaches Arno a good few things about how to do action scenes, and they’re definitely good friends.

KASSANDRA

-Roller Derby

-She lives for throwing people and smacking them without being judged for it, so the Derby’s her safe spot.

-Everyone on the opposing team is terrified of her, always scared when they see her devilish smile, knowing that they’re about to get their asses handed to them. Like her brother, she’s an adrenaline junky, and when she’s not doing the derby, she’s going off into car races in a water trench. She’s surprisingly very good with cars too, knowing the inside and out of a car like the back of her hand.

-She loves it when men try to catcall her. It gives her a perfect opportunity to punch them in the face.

-She loves the races themselves because no one expects it. Sometimes she pretends to act like a beginner and absolutely slaughter them, giving them a nice wink before driving out with her cash.

-Only has a soft spot for the girl who visits her on weekends. She’s practically her older sister, and there will be hell to pay if her favorite kid gets hurt in any way.

EIVOR

-BACA(Bikers Against Child Abuse)

-The moment I saw this, I instantly thought about them.

-they would absolutely be a part of this

-Looking all badass in leather while turning into a softie for children? That’s Eivors entire character right there.

-Eivors not afraid to get physical with an abuser. They’d beat the abuser to a pulp and right after take the child out for ice cream.

-No one messes with Eivor, knowing that their lenience was stretched only for children. Anyone else tried to pressure her? Your teeth would be shattered and they’d wear the bits for a necklace.

-Children are much more brave around them because they’re tougher than their parent and on their side, so they’re not afraid to give them to the police

BNHA rambles (part 14)

Here we go with episode 3 and 4 from season 2, The sport festival is in full swing! And I love it

-Aizawa being able to instinctively dodge Mic big movement is a sign of how long they’ve known each other/how much time they spend together

-Kirishima just popping out of a robot, you know, like it’s normal

-Not to criticize but how does Sero plan to cushion his fall? Bc I don’t see how he can do it using his tape

-Thirteen’s there! They’re okay! (so glad)

-Aizawa being a proud dad™ for his twenty children

-Izuku learning from past experience and getting better. Also can we point out the fact he’s fighting quirkless?

-That pit fall is, once again, ridiculously big.

-Hatsume Mei is totally crazy and I love her. Also please don’t let her and Izuku interact, two geniuses together can’t be good for the rest of the world.

-Her invention are so cool

-Shinsou is just a bit creepy here

-Let’s add Mic to the slightly creepy one. Should you really be that excited at the idea of scaring your student as a teacher? I mean, I get it, but still

-Izuku being smart!!! Examining the situation and finding a way around it! Work Smarter, not harder guys. (Still stupidly dangerous but hey). At least he’s getting everyone attention

-He’s also wat more feral than I thought he was. He just purposefully used Bakugo and Todoroki’s shoulders as stepping ladders and triggered multiples mines right in their face! It worked but who does that?

-Ah yes! the kid we screamed at for doing our job while we stood uselessly (do I ressent those hero? Me? Noooo of course not)

-Shigaraki watching the festival, just like I said

-Izuku being so happy to get All might approval

-The way they’re using the business course is pretty smart

-Izuku, my sweet child, you weren’t just lucky. Yes it was by luck that you found that metal plate but everything else you did it by yourself with that big brain of yours

-Could someone explode Mineta? Please? I’m ready to pay you for it at this point. I hate it bc what he did is technically allowed but you can see how much discomfort it brings to Yaomomo. He’s literally using a girl to get further I hate him

-Thirteen and Mic carrying all might XD

-Izuku, hearing the point value for the first place: I fucked up…

-Everyone immediately just zoning in on poor Izuku

Episode 4

-Love the explanation behind why they do the kind of test their doing in the festival (it’s smart, but once again it’s totally oriented towards the hero courses and using the other courses as cannon fodders)

-I love Kirishima! He’s so motivated and he knows how to get Bakugo to agree with him which is really impressive

-Poor Izuku

-Impressive waterwork here

-Let’s give Uraraka some love for deciding to make a team with Izuku despite the risk bc they’re friends

-On the other hand, I can totally understand Iida refusal. Him refusing to join them is both really in character and pretty smart of him with what he says he wish to accomplish

-Mei is so crazy but I love how direct she is. Also, no concept of personal space.

-And here we go, we lost the both of them, please save the planet and don’t let them interact more

-Monoma, stop antagonizing class 1A. ‘they were only attack by villain’ they nearly died you idiot

-Eraser taking advantage of the 15 minutes break to sleep. I mean, he probably really need it, but same.

-The students are supposed to be wearing their sport uniform, not their hero costume, but toru is totally invisible… Is she… Is she totally naked?

-Izuku being supportive of all his partners, he’s a true sunshine child. Also Uraraka being jealous of Izuku and Mei bond is cute

-Once again, Mineta is mega creepy

-Monoma is slightly creepy too but 1B strategy was really smart.

-Stop! Bringing! Up! Trauma!

-Anyway RIP Monoma

Yes here we are at the first half of the second activity! I love how everyone is motivated and how they can have a normal (for UA) school activity that they can enjoy.

WWHWH IM GLAD YOU ASKED NONNIE

it works as either a roleswap or its own branch- though there really isnt much to say if its its own thang. however! one trait both verses have in common is the site is a shady camp that provides magical sticks and helps alleviate trauma/stress(except not really) while the admins are known as counselors. they do have a site that advertises itself to misfortunate children: “whether or not you want to attend our camp, or use your stick, is entirely up to you”

the roleswap follows the canon mss storyline, with some the roles,sticks and emblems altered a bit to better fit certain aspects & dubious content/characters taken out. the motives, the existence of tempest, the king,etc remain just about the same. the kids are around 2-3 yrs older than their canon counterparts and mahou sept takes place 10+ years before the current timeline

the swaps + hcs under the cut cus it gets kinda long [tw for mentions of abuse, suicide and violence, please proceed w care]

NIKKI:

stick is a gun with the ability to teleport her targets, later on upgrades to sharing memories + distributing lifespan

emblem is a flower

lives with her disconnected mom who seems to find a new partner at the end of every week. her father is mostly absent in her life

was severely bullied by sasha,tabii and erin at school

sports a lively facade out of stubbornness

her only escape was taking long walks out in nature

was Very traumatized having believed she murdered tabii with her new stick

was the only one out of the main trio to genuinely think they were all friends

has a big fat crush on max and neil

becomes less vibrant and more protective of her loved ones as her Magical Girl Adventures take a darker turn

MAX:

stick is a smartphone with the ability to freeze time

lived with a neglectful family until they were killed by a burglar

he felt nothing when they die, but was immensely wounded when he realized theyd been trying to escape without their son

uses his time magic solely for his own advantage. he wont hesitate to fuck over assholes who threaten his image or simply out of spite

hes That One Classmate nobody bothers with but would never mess with

was one of the only people who defended nikki and neil from their bullies

though he made it clear he associates himself with nikki and neil only for their magic, he genuinely began to care for them immensely like the big softie he is

NEIL:

stick is a ring with the power of telepathy and is able to peek into/take over his targets’ sensory system if he chooses to

emblem is the infinity sign

pushed around for being a typical nerd;got more shit after getting outed as genderfluid

unlike canon, neil actually cares for his dad- even if he does embarrass him quite a lot

when presented with his stick, he laughed at the idea of things like “mahou camp” existing??and thought it was some pathetic scam

surprise surprise, freaked the FUCK out when it turned out the stick worked

he further refused to use his magic after finding out it takes a toll on his physical being

like max, he only befriended the other 2 for his own interests. he does eventually start caring for them despite trying(and failing) to hold them at an emotional arm’s length

developed post-traumatic mutism from witnessing the deaths of his friends; currently uses telepathy to communicate

HARRISON:

has a LOT of stolen sticks stowed away in his top hat. the one he was granted with was a conductor’s baton that explodes its targets

secondary stick is a sword that cuts through any surface

his tertiary stick is a wooden staff that emits electrical discharge

the baton’s emblem is a crescent moon, the sword’s is the letter V and the wooden staff’s is a crown

was the second magical after ered to receive the slaughter note

bought the camp’s lies about tempest in a heartbeat, driven by fear for what was to come & arrogant thoughts of him deserving to live in a new world free of scum

his plan was foiled by max and co after a failed attempt on nikki’s life

he is Very terrified of preston and avoids him at all costs

the trio only protected him from harm for more info regarding tempest

he still has natural magic, which he sometimes uses as an alternative to sticks

he develops a tiny crush on nikki

SASHA:

her stick is a yo-yo with a string so sharp it slice n dices whatever gets in the way

emblem is a heart

was one of nikki’s bullies,along with tabii & erin

often referred nikki by her full name before they made amends

her accused nikki for “murdering” tabii & grew more hateful than ever when her throat was slashed (by max, actually), leaving a hideous scar as a reminder of the incident

for this “misfortune,” she was granted a stick. really it was because the camp needed a new magical hunter

tried killing nikki and her friends out of vengeance, but slowly her perspective of nikki slowly changed after the latter saved her from getting crushed by a collapsing building

her feelings for nikki went from pure hatred, to mere tolerance, to finally–after a heart-to-heart conversation–geniunely caring for her well being

nikki still hasnt 100% forgiven sasha for all she’s done,which sasha comes to find understandable

PRESTON:

stick is a wristband with the power of mind-control

emblem is a star

grew up in a shithole neighborhood, in a shithole household with shitty parents

his parents were so deep in debt with loan sharks,they committed suicide when they realized they couldnt pay up, leaving a Very scared pres to fend for himself

temporarily lived with jen, his teacher and mother figure, and for the longest time, he was frightened to go outside out of fear of running into the same loan sharks

one confrontation by momma bear jen later, pres decided to settle things by wiping clean the memories of his family’s debt from the loan sharks’ minds

preston eventually got his life together & made it big in the theater industry as a child prodigy

he had a horrible relapse when he found jen’s bloody, headless corpse, out of the blue on a very normal day. realizing it was a murder committed by another magical, preston follows the series of murders of similar fashion; bent on finding the killer to avenge jen

put his career on hiatus to properly work with the trio, who he took a genuine liking to until they were busted for lying about harrison’s whereabouts(he still hasnt completely forgiven them for that.) he only agreed to cooperate under one condition: he gets his hands on a certain rotten magic kid after this

he lived with his grandmother since jen’s death

was raised in a broken household; his parents would fight constantly, often scaring the poor boy into hiding

nurf ran away after mortally wounding (maybe possibly killing) his dad by sheer impulse, spending years on the streets and move out of one shelter after another

he has scars from a combination of his previous home life and life on the streets. hes also blind in one eye

despite walking the path of delinquency, he tries his best to fix his attitude for himself and those around him, especially after he meets his new friends

pursued a relationship with bonquisha in hopes it’ll dull the pain; he became thoroughly convinced, yes, this is real happiness. he ended up turning down gwens efforts to help him

the truth behind the abusive counselor was leaked, and no one has ever changed their opinion of david so fast. bon left davey in disgust as davey himself got bullied to the point of suicide

because he died so miserably, david was allowed another shot at life- reborn a physical manifestation of his negative feelings, with the desire to wipe out humanity. the “king” was born and brought forth the threat of tempest

GWEN:

she used to be a total shut in since her father died in an accident. david at the time was a classmate who’d bring in notes and assignments from class everyday.

is very protective of david, always down to fuck up anyone who hurts him

when she discovered the truth about david’s counselor, gwen offered to gather money for therapy with his newfound stick.

she and davey temporarily fell out bc davey changed his mind about letting her help him and gwen’s temper got the better of her

she was devastated at witnessing daveys death, and harbors a deep resentment for the camp

she continued to use david’s stick until her lifespan ran out, and was reborn the counselor “seven.”

DANIEL:

stick is a flip phone with the ability to reverse time by one minute

his parents were arrested for being dangerous cultists. dan had never known what hell truly was until his peers found out, and was given the humiliating nikcname “son of a cultist”

he HATES anything cult-related, and blames his family for ruining his life

having grown up in a cultish household, some of their twisted tendencies rubbed off him

he attended the same camp as gwen,davey,jasper and jen as a teenager

cameron adopted dan as his nephew out of pity after he bolted from camp in midst of a breakdown

he was initially all up for helping nikki’s gang, behaving kindly and almost like a father-figure to them. he decided to leave the kids alone to take care of a mission gone horribly wrong, believing theyd literally be the death of him if he kept wasting his powers for a bunch of “brats with no survival skills of their own”

JEN:

stick is a mechanical pencil with the ability to create magic-negating barriers

was practically preston’s adoptive mother. she was always there for him in his time of need, making sure he was okay and nurtured him as if he were her own

JASPER:

main stick is a set of rollerblades that enhances his speed. it also gives him the ability skate smoothly over uneven surfaces and areas that defy gravity. its emblem is the leo symbol

his secondary stick is a hairdryer that returns the targeted object/person to its original position. the emblem is the letter J

was childhood friends with david. jasper changed when davey “stole” his place as the honorary camper and they officially fell out after jasper tried getting the camp shut down

he still attended the same camp as gwen and david as teenagers

hes really kind of an ass

neither of his sticks were given to him by the mahou camp

went under the alias “J” as he distributed countless sticks to everyday folk

was allegedly killed by detective campbell for his crimes, but in actuality is still alive and well to this day

Oh, Touma...

... Pegged you as the one most willing to die for this from the beginning.

Not that the other two aren't all in, Touma’s just... Clearly hardcore singleminded. Like, self-destructively.

He’d die w/out a thought if it was the surest way to ensure that Aya would be brought back. He’s down for this.

Of course, this being only episode 16, him being one of the core team, and the title of the episode make it pretty clear that's not gonna be happening. But he would.

(this turned into much musing, so more below)

I’m, of course, excited bc maybe it’ll be Kairi-Touma brotherly feels. Bc I’m inferring from the preview stuff I've seen that Kairi does indeed hesitate. I mean, he’s just a kid, and as I’ve mentioned, I hc Touma as slowly becoming a dad/big brother figure to the other two, even if they didn’t notice. Kairi’s lost his older brother, he’s not gonna be ecstatic about the idea of having personally cause the death of/hurt someone who has been starting to become another to him. And Umika would never until they’d exhausted all other options. I mean Touma’s been an anchor for them several times (so has Umika, too, though in a different way). I’m super excited that this could be the beginning of that--keeping in mind my, uh, skewed perceptions. This might also be the Touma starts to think about caring ep. At the very least, he may begin to realise these two kids care about him.

But also... Did they just ask the the actor to make the most ridiculous faces he possibly could? Bc those are pretty impressive. Plus, given the way the Gangler is apparently behaving around ladies, I’m wondering if it’s going to try and hit on Tsukasa and she’s going to be like ‘... Okay something’s wrong here. Kairi, Umika, why is your stoic chef trying to flirt w/ me what is this?’ (there’s this preview/spoiler image of those two and the three Patos in Juer and it looks like Tsukasa’s talking, so I just made that up--plus the images of her interacting w/ Gangler¡Touma in suit).

This is gonna be weird though. Like. There’s no way they can explain it w/out revealing their identities. It’s not even poor communication kills. It’s ‘the fact that we cannot communicate this in any way is fucking shit up.’

I’m certain they’ll make it. I mean, the preview did kinda give that away.

Plus, I think if they killed Touma off, Kairi and Umika would starve to death and that would be, in a word, bad.

Oh, and something a comment reminded me of--Blue got switched w/ an enemy in Dekaranger, too. That guy who tried to blow up the base? Wow, it’s almost like Toei recycles plots sometimes.

If there was one thing that Kadara did better than any other planet in Heleus, it was its sunsets. Eos had been a contender with its radiation soaked atmosphere, but since the vault had cleared the skies, the colors had been tamed. Here, though, there was no radiation to tint the clouds or color the sky any shade of red, yellow, purple, or somewhere in between. It was the most beautiful thing in Andromeda. Well… almost.

“S’ Reyes…” Kitt slurred as she leaned heavily against his side, watching the Kadaran sunset from the rooftops at his side. “I still don’t know much of anything ‘bout you… but’m pretty sure you know everything about me… Keepin’ secrets?”

The comment made a laugh stutter out of him. There was a tightness in his chest that he wanted to ignore, the pain of so many truths wanting to burst out and spill all, and the agony of the chains that held them in place. Now was not the time for her to know. The kiss they had shared nearly unlocked every encrypted thought, but he was not ready. Nor was she. “Everybody has secrets, Ryder. Even you.”

“Psshhh.” The whiskey was apparently going to her head much faster than his own. She’d kill him for calling her a lightweight later. “Doubt it!”

“Alright, Ryder...” he swirled the mostly empty bottle of Mount Milgrom around before pulling a hit. “How about we play a game. You tell me things about yourself, and I’ll stop you if it’s something I haven't heard. In return, I’ll tell you some things about my life before the Initiative.” A cheap trick to play on a poor drunk woman, but he was also curious. There were only so many things in personnel files.

Kitt stole back the bottle to take her own drink, slamming it firm down on the shipping crate they were seated on. “Deal. I got arrested by C-Sec about a dozen times before my family left to live with Mom on Earth.” Silence. “I knew Garrus Vakarian! Briefly… Really? Argh. I always loved archaeology, but Dad always corrected me to say I liked ‘paleontology’ until I actually got into real archaeology. Seriously?!” The frown on her lips worked its way up her face, wrinkling her nose and creasing her eyebrows. “How d’you know this stuff?”

“As you are always so keen to remind me, gathering information is what I do best, Ryder. Go on, keep going.”

With a loud groan, she pulled off her jacket and threw it into a pile between them. Another shot of whiskey and she seemed raring to go again. “My Dad created SAM behind the Alliance’s back and it got him disbarred--”

“That’s cheating, Ryder. And, yes, I already knew that.” Reyes almost laughed when she bounced in frustration. That only seemed to make her more frustrated, and she was talking faster, even as her cheeks grew redder from the alcohol.

A yawn tried to fight its way past her words, but she stifled it down. “I crashed the Nomad the first time I used it because I mixed the pedals up. My middle name is Rachel. I picked a military outpost even though I knew it was a mistake, almost got shot on Aya for using my scanner, I insulted the Archon - twice. Drunkenly tried to kiss Keri. I lied to my brother about Dad being dead and Habitat 7.”

Reyes couldn’t help but chuckle. “Ryder. All of that is in official Nexus documentation - except that part about the reporter. That… I heard about through other channels.”

“Argh!! Uuuhm, I was forced out of my platoon and lost all my friends because of the Initiative. I was born a biotic but my brother wasn’t. I’m a minute older than him. I almost punched Cora. Also almost punched Peebee. Then I had sex with her - bad idea. Uuuuhhmmm?” Kitt rubbed her nose trying to think, while he simply watched, eyes glowing with amusement. All she really had to say was one personal thing from back before the Initiative, but she wasn’t thinking about it, or she didn’t want to. Something they maybe shared in common. Or, perhaps, it was that haze of sleep in her eyes that was slowing her down.

“Come on, Ryder, surely you can do better?” he teased.

She slumped against his shoulder, taking a long drink before handing the bottle back to him, face flushed and eyelids heavy. “I dunno anymore…” she mumbled. “You know everything…”

“Ha ha, if only it were so easy as that. It would make my work so much simpler. Are you sure you’ve tried everything, Ryder?” She drearily nodded her head. Apparently she was a sleepy drunk. When she started to slouch her weight on him even more, it was easy enough to guide her head down to rest in his lap. Kitt voiced no complaints.

“Well...” she drolled, closing her eyes, “there is this one thing.”

“Yes?”

“I thought you were cute the first time I saw you,” she hummed her words, a smile gracing her lips. “Very kissable.”

Those words lingered in his ears just long enough to make a heat rise in his chest; even his face felt warmer than usual. This woman, a Pathfinder no less, allied with the Initiative that betrayed all the exiles on Kadara, was worming her way into his body and mind.

That kiss in the storage room was supposed to be innocent, no ulterior motives beyond the distraction it provided, and yet… Reyes couldn’t help himself when she silenced all his fears about this new life in Andromeda. You’re someone to me , she had said. All he had ever wanted to be was someone that mattered, someone that would make a difference, someone people would look up to and be proud to know. It seemed he had become that person unknowingly because of her. For her.

“Well, that is a surprise, Ryder.” He laughed quietly to himself, but found no response followed his. Glancing down it became plainly obvious as to why. “If you fall asleep now, Ryder, you won’t learn any of my deep dark secrets.” Again, nothing. She was out like a light. Reyes tried not to laugh in case it might wake her up. This might be the only time he would see her in such a pleasantly serene state. All the stress he could normally see on her shoulders and in her features just melted away as she slept there.

As time passed, the bright orange star dipped lower on the horizon, coloring the sky in a broad spectrum. Perhaps one of the most beautiful sunset’s Reyes has seen since finding himself on Kadara. It had been a long time since he had spent any prolonged time in the Port proper to see a sunset like this one. The landing pad in the slums didn’t offer this nice of a view.

Moments like this made everything he was doing worth it in the end. At least, he hoped. There was no guarantee she could forgive him for the secrets he kept. The only thing he had was hope - something that he hadn’t felt since the uprising. And it was all because of one Kitt Ryder. Maybe that tugging in his chest was more than he wanted to believe it was. Time would tell. For now, he had her, and that would be all that mattered until the Charlatan was needed again.

Thirty Questions About My Decisions in my first playthrough

The Basics: 1. Male or Female Ryder?

male, default Scotty

2. Feelings on being the Pathfinder?

i think it was irresponsible of alec to give ryder command. i wasn’t trained and i wasn’t ready to lead in such a high capacity in such extreme and dangerous circumstances. the vote of confidence from a dad who didn’t really know or trust me yet was a nice boost, but he could have given over the extra sam connection without laying the full pathfinder responsibilities on me.

3. Your Pathfinder’s feelings on SAM?

sam is a gentle friend but scotty was a bit wary of the extent of the changes alec incorporated. he trusts sam, not his father.

4. When your comatose sibling asked about the current situation in Andromeda, did Ryder lie or tell the truth about Alec Ryder and Habitat 7? Why?

Scotty told Sara the truth because he knew she would kick his ass later if he had lied. she deserved to know even if it was difficult to tell and difficult for her to hear. he was so worried when the shock hit her and became too much.

5. Romantic entanglements, if any, and hopes for a future with your partner?

he romanced Peebee. he seriously likes her in a casual way, if that makes any sense. their love is lighthearted. he would very much like to stay together and see what trouble she gets him into and out of. it will be an adventure thats for sure.

Major Locations: 6. Eos: Was your first settlement scientific, or military? Reasoning on your choice?

scientific. a military post felt like the wrong first impression to make to any new races beyond the kett and we needed the resources and information that the science crew would unveil.

7. Eos: During the mission Making an Impression, a non-Nexus settlement requests that you mine natural gas instead of rerouting their water source. What choice did you make, and why?

i did both as i happened to have a glitch or crash around the time of this mission but i can’t recall which choice actually made it into my save. i think i elected to reroute the water because even though helping the settlement would have been nice, we needed to find out the source of the disruption we had been tracking.

8. Voeld: After discovering the Angaran AI, did Ryder choose to kill or preserve it? If preserved, was it taken to the Nexus, or turned over to the Angara?

the ancient AI went to the nexus per its request. scotty doesn’t fully trust it and hopes that sam will keep an eye on it.

9. Voeld: At the conclusion of the mission The Lost Song, did you allow Dr. Lekaaret to continue her research on the Yevara, or force her to stop hunting them?

i believe she was asked to stop her hunt. learning more about a species is a noble goal but not at the expense of that species.

10. Kadara: Did Ryder side with Sloane Kelley, or the Charlatan? Why?

Scotty would have sided with the charlatan if given a choice, but he did pull sloane out of the sniper’s sights.

11. Kadara: Did you recover Dr. Ryota’s Oblivion Formula, or leave it in the hands of Arenna Farenth?

either i never got this mission or i just do not remember it....

12. Kadara: If your Ryder completed the side quest Mind Games, how did they choose to handle the Cerberus scientists?

Scotty disrupted the scientists work with minimal impact to the test subjects.

13. Elaaden: Did Ryder turn the remnant drive core over to Morda, or keep it for the use of the Nexus?

the core was given to morda with slight hesitation. had another, more trustworthy krogan been in charge the choice might have been easier. Scotty is hoping that drack will be able to keep things under control if necessary.

14. Elaaden: After discovering the source of Annea’s water, did Ryder allow her to continue her operation, or expose the source?

he allowed her to continue. he wasn’t going to disrupt her income source and she did find it first, but he would have hoped that she keep her prices fair.

15. Nexus: How did Ryder respond to the protesters who wanted their families brought out of cryo?

he sympathized for sure, people need something and someone to live for, work for, but he did hold his ground. he would have worked to get them out sooner, ahead of schedule, but it just wasn’t feasible at the time of the protest.

16. Nexus: In the on-going series of interviews with Keri T’Vessa, did Ryder choose to highlight the stark truth regardless of the poor light it put upon Nexus leadership, or did they choose to promote a message of hope in the new galaxy?

Scotty stuck to the truth, even when it was hard to hear, just as he did with Sara when telling her about Alec’s death. the truth is always preferable to lies and is important when making history to be as accurate as possible.

Squadmates and Crew: 17. Cora: After discovering the truth about Sarissa’s actions with the previous pathfinder, did Ryder keep her secret, or inform the rest of the Asari? Was Sarissa allowed to maintain her post, or was Vederia promoted?

Scotty relieved Sarissa of her position and promoted Vederia. He was very happy with her progress and was glad he took that small risk, after all she was in nearly the same position he was. He felt telling the other asari about Sarissa’s actions was necessary, the truth is the only way to go in his book.

18. Liam: How did Ryder feel about Liam’s actions? Did Ryder choose to detain Verand after the mission’s end?

he was not thrilled with liam’s actions, but knew his heart was in the right place and was not about to abandon liam over one mistake. i might have detained Verand just to be sure she and the information remained safe.

19. Vetra: Was Ryder supportive of Sid’s actions, or agree with Vetra that Sid wasn’t ready to see this side of their work? Did Ryder take the risk and shoot Meriweather?

Ryder appreciated Sid’s initiative, but would have defered to Vertra’s judgement as she knows her sister better and is the boss when it comes to their family arrangements. i don’t recall taking the option to shoot meriweather, as it would be out of character for Scotty to do so anyways.

20. PeeBee: After launching the escape pod, Peebee asked if you were mad. Were you? How did you handle Kalinda in the moment where she begs for Peebee’s help?

he was maybe a little mad but it wasn’t the end of the world. plus thats his gf so its hard to be mad at her. of course he agreed with peebee that it was only right to save kalinda, even at the expense of the information.

21. Drack: After exposing Spender on the Nexus, his punishment options are imprisonment or exile. Which did Ryder choose? Upon rescuing Vorn and the Seed Vault, Drack threatens the life of Spender’s associate, Aroan. Did Ryder allow his death?

Scotty always went with imprisionmet over exile when those choices were available, and not just in spender’s case. He was not happy with Drack’s threats against Aroan either.

22. Jaal: Jaal asks Ryder to follow his lead, and not be tempted to take Aksuul’s life, but there is a real moment when Aksuul seems as though he is going to shoot Jaal in the face. How did Ryder feel? What did Ryder do: shoot first, or trust Jaal?

we trusted Jaal and did not shoot, but was very tempted to, was possibly in the process of drawing our gun as Aksuul made the shot. had scotty made a shot, he would have made it non-lethal anyways.

23. Does Ryder agree with Suvi’s spiritual perspective on the universe?

not wholeheartedly, but he supports her beliefs and allows that there is so much of the universe that is not known that for all he knows she could be right. she is so much smarter than he is after all.

24. Did Ryder side with Gil or Kallo regarding the Tempest’s ongoing modifications?

Scotty sided with Gil, though he feels for Kallo. Kallo and his crew gave a great baseline with the tempest’s original specs but supports Gil in making new, needed modifications, but while docked and not in the field, you know just in case something goes awry.

25. Was Ryder supportive of Gil’s decision to become a father?

yes because it seemed to him that it was something that Gil wanted. scotty would have been supportive of Gil’s choices in either direction, so long as it was Gil’s choice and not influenced by someone else. (i will admit that i was not always listening with the greatest attention so i might have missed something about these conversations as i have seen much discourse on this subject and Gil’s friendship with Jill. will be more attentive on a later playthrough, but my general impression is that Gil wanted this and was not coerced by Jill.)

The Main Story: 26. After rescuing the Moshae from the facility on Voeld, she begs you to destroy the facility, regardless of the captives still inside. Jaal pleads with you to try and save them. What was Ryder’s choice? Did the Cardinal survive your encounter?

we saved those still inside but the cardinal did not survive.

Vehn was rescued and turned over to the angara where we later found him on aya doing some manual labor.

28. Upon boarding the Archon’s ship, Ryder discovers that the Kett have been experimenting on the Krogan. Does Ryder rescue the Krogan captives, or opt instead to save the Salarian Pathfinder, Zevin Raeka?

i personally hated this choice because krogan vs salarians again? and i wanted to rescue the krogan, but Scotty saw the value in saving the one originally selected and trained pathfinder he had access to.

29. Which Pathfinders were available to support Ryder during the assault on Meridian? Did Captain Dunn survive the Hyperion’s crash?

Scotty had Vedaria, Rix, and Raeka and Captain Dunn (whom i love!) survived (i am thinking that this is tied to what is basically ryder’s first choice in game, to side with Dunn and wait before going planetside upon arrival in andromeda).

30. Ryder Family Secrets: Did Ryder unlock all of their father’s memories and encrypted logs? I’ll leave this open-ended to encourage wordy responses, but how does Ryder feel about what they learned?

yes, all memories and logs were unlocked. Scotty was in complete shock over the final revelation. he is angry with alec for the deception but can’t be too angry because its his mom after all. he is trying not to be too hopeful that she will be cured and return to his life, but Scotty knows that its something that Sara really wants. he is going to try not to think about it much and just keep going on as before.
