Belladonna - Leto Atreides x F!Reader
Belladonna (Atropa belladonna) - Meaning: Silence, betrayal
Summary: Duke Leto's new wife has been neglected. When the Duke finds her under his Swordmaster, he summons her to his office for a talk but it ends up not being what she expected.
Pairing: Leto Atreides x F!Reader, (past fling) Duncan Idaho x F!Reader
Word Count: 918
Warnings: Slight Hurt/Comfort, fluff, Discussion of marital neglect/politically arranged marriage that leads to infidelity, reader has female genitalia but is otherwise not described, slight language, reader tries to appear aloof, Leto is probably OOC, feelings talk, a little husband/wife flirting at the end
Day 4 my loves! This is my first Dune fic and I have only seen the 2021/2024 films and read through some of the Wiki pages so forgive me if there are horrendous inaccuracies. This takes place pre-Dune by about 10 years, so Paul is a kid and Leto is a little younger but still foxy as hell.

The thing about Caladan, you had come to learn, is that no matter where you were in the palace you could always hear the ocean. The crash of waves against the cliff below lulled you to sleep every night since your marriage to Duke Leto about two months ago. Sixty days, of which the Duke had only visited your bedchamber twice. The rest he spent, you assumed, in his chambers with Lady Jessica.
In fact, you had barely seen him other than your weekly dinners since the wedding. The dinners were silent affairs, you on one end of the long formal dining table and the Duke on the other. Conversation extended no further than pleasantries. You didn’t mind too much — a political marriage like yours wasn’t meant to inspire affection and since the Duke had his concubine and his heir, you were only there to solidify the alliance between Caladan and your home planet, Calypso-9.
Today, you’d been summoned to his office to discuss yesterday’s incident.
The incident in which he’d found you underneath his Swordmaster Duncan Idaho in the training room. Half-naked. Writhing and crying in pleasure while Duncan pummeled your cervix with his impressive cock. It had been months since you’d been intimate with someone, and during your self-defense training Duncan’s touches while he corrected your form along with the smell of his sweat and endorphins from the exercise had proven to be too much. You’d given in to your baser instincts, and fuck, did it feel good.
Leto hadn’t said anything, only caught your attention with a loud clear of his throat. When he saw your and Duncan’s eyes on him, all he did was about-face and walk out of the room.
He maintained the same stoic expression now. His dark eyes bore into yours as he stroked his beard. You had noticed how large his hands were during your wedding ceremony, and you remembered how they felt on you while he dispassionately consummated your union that night. All you could hear were the waves crashing.
“I think we’re both aware of why I called you here,” he finally said, breaking the silence.
“You found me fucking Duncan. I apologize if you were offended, my Lord, but I’m not sure why you called me here. Were you offended? Jealous?” You honestly didn’t know why he would want to hash this out between you unless he was going to scold you for being so indiscreet, which you supposed was deserved.
“What if I was?” He asked, gaze softening before he continued without waiting for your answer, “Even though you and I both know I have no right to be. Our marriage is simply a political arrangement and I have Jessica and Paul while you left your homeworld to come here and be ignored by the husband you never wanted in the first place.”
Gobsmacked. That was the only way you could describe yourself as you picked your jaw up off the floor. To say you hadn’t expected candor of this level was an understatement.
“I…Apologies, my Lord, but-”
“Leto.”
“Pardon?”
“You are my wife, there’s no need for formalities. Call me Leto.”
You held back a scoff, turning it into a light sigh instead. “Since this is the second longest conversation we’ve ever had, you’ll forgive my hesitation with familiarities, but alright. Leto,” he nodded gratefully, so you continued, “I don’t fully understand your meaning.”
“What I mean is I am angry about what I saw yesterday but not for the reasons you may think. I’m not upset with you because I understand that I am what drove you into the arms of my Swordmaster. I am angry with myself for neglecting you so cruelly since our wedding and I promise to do better by you. Perhaps not to Duncan’s extent, but-”
You burst out laughing, which caused his brows to knit together in confusion. His large hands folded in front of him on his desk as you tried to get yourself under control.
“I’m - I’m sorry,” you said, waving a hand in front of you, “I don’t mean to be laughing, I swear, but…is that all it would’ve taken to get your attention?”
“Well, no, but-”
“To think all I had to do was fuck someone else…I would’ve gotten your attention weeks ago.”
“You’ve…been wanting my attention?”
This time you let your scoff out, “Of course! When my father told me he’d found me a husband I expected some old, ugly lord with at least two dead wives and no heirs. You cannot imagine the relief I felt when we met and you were none of those things.”
“I’m not not old,” he chuckled, ducking his head.
“Oh, pish, you’re barely forty, and don’t look it.”
He looked up at you from under his regal brow and you felt butterflies stirring in your chest. “And you are one of the most beautiful women who has ever stepped foot on Caladan.”
You couldn’t help the blush that rose in your cheeks, “Are you flirting with me, Leto?”
“Perhaps. You are my wife after all,” he smirked, standing from behind his desk and coming around it, offering his arm to you. “Would you like to walk with me? A proper tour of the grounds?”
You accepted, resting your hand in the crook of his arm and subtly stroking his inner forearm. “And maybe we can stop in the training room?”
His smirk widened into a smile and you were enchanted at the sight. “Whatever my wife desires.”

We Will Be the Walls of this House 27k @tornadodream
"She stood firm, her clutch steady against his forearm. 'You are my brother.' 'No,' he said, and his voice was gravelly. 'No, I am no brother of yours, Sansa Stark.'" The war has taken much from both of them. But when Jon Snow returns from the south as the new Region-King of the North, Sansa Stark knows that the best way to secure Winterfell for the both of them is a marriage that neither of them want, but the marriage that they both know that they need.
To Be Alone With You 10k @methedras
If he willed it, Sansa would make a Stark of Jon. One way or another.
I'm Holding You Closer Than Most Because You Are My Heaven 8k by @sansaswolfbits
Perhaps she deserves more than a man who loves another woman, but it's him she wants, so she'll take whatever part of him she can have. She's grown used to pretending, how hard can it be?
want me to love you in moderation? well don't you know, i wish i could 8k by @sansaswolfbits
He had Winterfell and Sansa, and everything that should have been Robb's, or Bran's or Rickon's, and now hers, and he couldn't even allow himself to enjoy it. The guilt was eating him up, tearing away pieces of him every single day and keeping him up at night. All of his brothers—who had never been his true brothers—had died so that he could be Lord of Winterfell, so that he could use the girl he'd once called sister to take everything that was hers for his own. Even with Jon it was just her claim he needed. But at least to him, Winterfell was more than a keep and a title. He understood what her home meant to her. They shared the same memories and suffered the same losses. Jon cared for her, but he didn't love her the way a man should love his lady wife.
Finding Love in the Strangest Places 50k
The Rebellion didn't happen till Next Gen: Arya was engaged to Joffery and eloped/was kidnapped by Aegon. Robb and his father Brandon went down to King's Landing and Mad King Rhaegar killed them. Now Jon has to marry Robb's betrothed Sansa Tully. Sansa had a crush on Robb and now has to marry his sullen younger brother before he goes off to war.
The Northern Crown 2k by @hkafterdark
They were married in the Godswood as the snow fell around them.
The Quiet Balance of Wolves 12k by @sevensneakyfoxes
Regardless of what may or may not linger between them, he knows exactly the horrible position he is putting Sansa in: her home and freedom for another interloper in her bed. Jon cannot put her through it again. “My brother knew that the blood of dragons needed to flow in the North, and despite his misguided attempts at creating a lineage, I am starting to understand why. Wolves and dragons were meant to balance each other." Jon is thoroughly sick of prophecies; blood is blood - spilt, it looks the same red on snow. -- Daenerys and Jon make a deal. Jon barters poorly.
Seasons of Wine 1k by @geekprincess26
Sansa still drinks wine only when she has to. Every so often, as the world changes at a dizzying pace around her and her cousin Jon, she has to.
Say Your Vows Against My Skin 8k by @madamebaggio
Jon had married Sansa to protect the North. At least, that was what she thought. Sansa had married Jon to be protected. At least, that was he thought. Their marriage might have started for political reasons, but they love each other. Now if they'd could only say that to each other... Fortunately, one night makes them realize they might've been missing something significant about their relationship.
Duty, Desire, or Love 2k by @damdamfino
Sansa’s duty as Queen is to give the King an heir. But what if that is the only reason Jon is so gentle and caring to her? Would everything change if she told him she was with child? What if she wanted to pretend…for just a little longer.
What Grows in Winter 3k by @orangeflavoryawp
“There are too many years ahead to think of the years before.” - Jon and Sansa. Through the years of a harsh winter, they tend their love.
The Songs Never Mentioned the Scars 2k by @azulaahai
Sansa could hear how naïve it sounded even as she thought it, but the only thing she could think was - not Jon. Jon would never. Jon, her sweet Jon, who's first words to her after their wedding in the godswood had been that Ghost was her wolf now as much as his (which was so adorable and silly that Sansa never failed to smile when she thought about it), who knew exactly what it meant to grow up a bastard - would that man start visiting a brothel without explanation?
time goes by go and i can't control my mind (just keep breathin') 10k by @ladyalice101
“She’s grieving," Arya says, "I’ve never seen her like this and I don’t think she should be alone, but I - . . . have you ever seen her so sad?” Jon’s face has pulled down, the lines etched across it deeper than she’s ever seen them, and there’s a true sorrow in his eyes. “Once or twice,” he answers quietly. “You’re right, she shouldn’t be alone." - We have sad Sansa being comforted by Jon, we have arranged marriage, we have pining, we have feasts, we have bed sharing! This one is just chock full of tropes friends.
Take Me To Wife 1k
When the liege-lords and bannermen to House Stark find out that their king is not who they thought he was, a solution is suggested in the hope of restoring peace among his subjects.
All My Days 74k by @kit-kat21
The night before, as Sansa oversaw the packing of her trunks – her chamber at Winterfell being emptied of her possessions to take to her new home with her – she had asked her brother to describe her soon-to-be husband because Robb hadn’t even supplied a sketch of the man. “Well, he’s… pretty,” Robb decided after a moment’s contemplation. “Pretty?” Sansa’s eyebrows both raised at that.
Put Your Hands on My Waist, Do It Softly 1k by @kitten1618x
The Great War has ended, and Jon and Sansa have wed, but a marriage of convenience has evolved to so much more. As the frigid winter winds whip about outside the walls of Winterfell, Jon suggests something new to take the chill off, testing the boundaries of Sansa's trust in him.

Jon and Sansa get married. For political reasons. And heir producing purposes. They only have sex this much for the good of the realm. There is a 0% chance they're secretly in love. Alternatively titled "Newsflash, asshole! I've been in love with you this entire goddamn time!"

She had prepared her words and her actions meticulously. She hadn’t prepared to actually see him. Or, Jon and Sansa reunite and things don't go according to plan, forcing Sansa to reevaluate her identity and her loyalties and forcing Jon to come back to himself. Post-ADWD, bookverse fic. i could offer you a warm embrace 10k by @amymel86
Of course he wants to keep his newly earned grotesque covered. He’s seen it in the looking glass; a sightless milk-white eye surrounded by angry puckered red scarring from brow to temple. Jon is not a vain man, but no one wants to witness their king’s weaknesses, least of all his wife who had once dreamt that her husband should be a beautiful, fair-haired prince. Well now you have a half-blind brother king.
Hard times for Dreamers 4k by @comma-spice (this was posted in 2014)
She shouldn't feel saddened by his outward lack of affection. Outside of their separate chambers Jon was a good, dutiful husband. He tried to see the logic behind her requests, agreeing on the importance of Bran sitting with them during the morning petitions, and riding out to Wintertown to visit the smallfolk. They rarely fought, and when they did an easy compromise was often found. More importantly he was kind, which was something she had long come to accept as impossible in a husband. Sansa is Bran's Regent and she starts to suspect perhaps she and her husband have built their marriage on a misunderstanding.
time's been kind to you, my love 23k orphaned
Sansa knows her loyalties lie with the Northern independence. Robb might have forgotten her, but she hasn’t forgotten him. Married to Tyrion, beaten by Joffrey- she’s never allowed herself to forget. Sansa has Stark engraved deep into her blood and bone. She’s been a quiet girl for long enough: wolves are protective of their own, after all, and it’s time she lived up to that.
[Aged up Jon and Sansa, set in an universe where, on Jon’s fourteenth birthday, Ned tells him his true parentage and Jon goes to Essos instead of the Wall; upon hearing of Sansa’s predicament in King’s Landing, he returns with an army.]
and I'm like falling water, set me free 2k by @aflashofgreen
Sansa resents these childish dreams of hers she can’t let go of despite the years. She resents them as much as she cherishes them.
From a Flicker to a Glow 8k by @dresupi
In retrospect, it was stupid to think Joffrey Baratheon had ever intended to propose marriage, but Sansa Stark is often blinded by wolves in sheep's clothing, especially if they have very fine wool. Jon arrives to save her, reminding her of the knights in the stories she enjoyed as a girl, complete with a white horse and all. But is he only offering to save her because she needs saving? If so, will that be enough foundation upon which to build a marriage?
but you're the one that i want; is that really so wrong? 4k orphaned
In light of the North’s demand for a marriage alliance, Jon and Sansa have some long-harbored matters to discuss.
Fill the Earth 6k by @darkmagyk
Arya Stark is a simple girl with simple desires: a prosperous North, a safe family, a large pack. And that her favorite brother and only sister would get on with the heir making business. She cannot have a niece until they are properly bedded. But as always, Jon and Sansa are being difficult.
And the Geese Are Headed North 13k by @yekoc
In the dark and honest part of her that Sansa is no longer afraid of, she had thought that Jon would die, and she was no sadder than she was relieved. In the months that she ruled Winterfell while the great war of men and wights waged around them, she felt herself growing into her power, sinking her roots back deep into the Northern soil. She enjoyed it, ruling. She was good at it. And at night, she had a wide bed and a door that locked and she was never cold. If Jon died in the war, she would miss him like she missed Robb and Rickon and Bran. She wouldn’t miss her husband. Seeing him now, she notes the absence of the relief and joy that marked her first glimpse of him at Castle Black. Instead, she feels a too-familiar grief: my brother is gone.

political marriage Jercy AU
When Juno announces exactly how the Romans and Greeks will consolidate peace between themselves, Jason wants to fall at her feet to beg or laugh hysterically and ask who came up with such a funny joke. Next to him, Percy turns pale and his legs weaken, Annabeth holds him gently by grabbing his elbow. Marriage, a divine marriage fixed between souls... the marriage of the leaders of both camps, the marriage of the most powerful demigods, the marriage of Jason Alexander Grace and Perseus Dylan Jackson. Venus is smiling at Jason, her smile is bright, dazzlingly beautiful, her hair is silky black curls, and her eyes are the color of sea waves. You didn't dare dream about it, did you? She asks, teasingly desirable and looking like Percy. Jason is bad at feelings and he experiences them at the most inopportune terrible moments - hunger when Thalia is sick, the desire to get maternal affection when Beryl is too drunk, falling in love when it's his best friend who just got out of the real fucking hell, broke up with his girlfriend, because their relationship is not the healthiest coping mechanism and just wants to go to his mother and live with her like a mere mortal.
Jason is in love and feels terribly guilty.
Percy is tired, he just wants peace and his mom.
This is such an interesting take on it and I like it a lot. Perce taking to the marriage as a chore initially, his duty has been to accept his roles in missions even if he does so backhandedly. He doesn’t go easily into it, but does all the same. He has no energy left to spit at the feet of the person who even raised the subject to the level he gazed upon.
Jason however takes it on like he usually does, silencing his complaints and just taking it like a good prince like soldier should. Sure, maybe it is the most hysterical joke his life has played on him, but what’s another one to the pile. He’s more worried about his friend whose mental health just took a dive into the deep end as the announcement. Percy being subdued is not a look anyone likes to see on him. And to make it worse, the feelings Jason has for Percy just makes the way Percy looks now feel all that much worse. Jason feels ill when he can visibly see the sick feeling on Percy’s face.
The following days just have this dreadful, sticky feeling to them. Percy is just a bitter husk and Jason is a sad puppy watching the person he loves look less than ecstatic at this new turn in their lives. And he gets sadder when their whole group grows quiet too, it’s like everyone is mourning but for what, it’s hard to tell.
Jason sitting in his pining and sadness, because he understands why the mood is so low, but marrying Percy isn’t a bad thing. He would be happy if it’d been done on better terms. But everyone is acting as if they’re soon to attend a funeral procession. He understands, but it doesn’t make him feel any better, any less rejected.
And Percy just lurks in the feeling, unable to break himself of the unannounced spell of silence he’s held especially toward Jason who’s just as much a victim of circumstance as he is. But could you blame him? He’s exhausted, he wants to live a normal life, go home to his mom and cry in her arms like he did when he was little. He escaped hell with Annabeth, their relationship severed from the sheer horrors they’d faced, from the evil he held within himself, and now he was forced into yet another plan of the gods. Forced into something he just can’t yet bring himself to accept. And he sees how his mood is affecting others, how it’s affecting Jason, but he can’t help but wallow in his self pity. He can’t help but to give himself one moment of utter weakness because this, after everything, is just too much. His wish for normalcy depleted to ash.
-
The idea is a lovely tragedy. It makes for great opportunity to fix broken bonds.
Thank you for send this to me :)))

Jedi Political Marriage AU
AU where a regular 'duty' of Jedi is to get married off for politics Fic starts out like a classic "ooh, make our ship get together by way of arranged marriage plot where this is a once-in-a-millennium event, (usually an ob*kin fic where one of them isn't a Jedi)" plot and then slowly spirals out and pulls back the masquerade into something more like the Jedi Indentured AU (which has several authors, but I think the main one is @primeemeraldheiress).
Imagine Jedi living with the knowledge that, at any given moment, one of them might be called upon like a medieval princess to get married for the sake of the Republic.
And the marriage might be just on paper. It might be... significantly (horrifically) more. Not everyone goes through this specific duty. Maybe one in ten, if that.
But nobody wants to be noticed, really. Not by those outside the Temple. There's always a risk, see, that someone might decide it's time to claim their... promised tithe. That's not how it works, really, but more than once, a particularly selfish or mercurial planetary leader has threatened to secede from the Republic in order to secure the hand of a Jedi they had their eyes on.
Getting married to bring a necessary peace is one thing. Getting sold off to the highest bidder is something else entirely.
I think this would work best as a Mando/Jedi fic (Jangobi? Obitine? Clones as heirs with Rexwalker or Codywan or Rexsoka? IDK and IDC) that's mostly from the Mando POV where they specifically do not know that this is standard practice and has been for a few centuries, so when someone suggests an arranged marriage to assure each other that Mandalorians and the Republic are going to stay allies, the Mando is just like "well, that's old-fashioned and kind of icky, but I guess that works."
The Jedi that's asked to perform the deed is under the impression that the Mando asked for them specifically.
I think. I think it needs to be either Obi-Wan or Ahsoka getting sent out to marry, as a Palpatine plot to isolate Anakin.
I just think the reader journey from 'oh, fun premise, very standard but could be fun and romantic and tropey or cliched' to 'wait… WAIT…' has potential.
Anakin's pissed because he thinks the Mandos asked for his master or padawan because they saw holos and thought I Wanna Fuck That. The person getting married also thinks this. The Mando is just expecting to sign a piece of paper and then let their new spouse go off to fight a war because, well, there is a war on, they know you don't keep your spouse from a fight they believe in just because you got married, especially if you're not even in love.
Palpatine and his cronies just dropping Implications that this is a very important connection so You Better Be Ready To Just Go Along With Any Sexual Tastes The Mando Leader Has.
And like. Obi-Wan's a good actor. Ahsoka's decent, and can excuse nervousness with her age. She'd break sooner, but Obi-Wan could keep up the pretense of being perfectly happy and willing to enter this arrangement for a very long time before his partner realizes he's under the impression that he has no other choice.
So that was the original AU and then I came up with a more specific one a day or so later. Kicks off as seemingly Jangobi.
Jango didn't have a lot of qualifications in mind for his Jedi War Bride or whatever, just 'competent fighter that can avoid assassination, competent speaker that can avoid getting trapped in conversation with Jango's political enemies, willing to learn Mando'a and wear a vambrace.'
When Obi-Wan is sent, Jango's just like 'oh cool, they found someone that already speaks Mando'a, and he's a war general that's called The Negotiator, that fits' and assumes that Obi-Wan was picked for those reasons.
Satine doesn't find out who the marrying Jedi is until the wedding. This is because Jango also doesn't know who the marrying Jedi is until the wedding.
IDK what exactly Satine and Obi-Wan's year together was about here, since Jango is still Mand'alor so the Death Watch situation definitely played out differently, but it happened and they're still kind of in love. Jango's deeply uncomfortable when he catches them looking longingly at each other. He asks if he can step back and just let them marry, since Satine's head of civvie government and basically his second in terms of diplomatic matters?
He is told by the attending senator (someone on Palpatine's side) that this is not appropriate, because all the contracts and treaties were drawn up with the assumption that the Mand'alor would be marrying. None of the Jedi are there to hear the conversation. They still think Jango's doing this for Horny Reasons.
Jango meanwhile is just like "well, if they're both cool with extramarital nonsense, I can just foist him off on the Duchess and pretend I don't know what's going on when he sneaks off during visits for Mandatory Marital Meetings."
Satine is a little bitter but at least she'll get to see Obi-Wan more often. It's not like Jango's doing this for anything other than Politics, after all.
(Obi-Wan is steeling himself for getting forced into a pregnancy the second the war is over.)
(Everyone is going into this with very different expectations.)
Obi-Wan goes into the Wedding Night uncomfortable but ready to lay back and think of the Republic, and flirts accordingly. Jango is now under the impression that the Jedi is sort of into him, but not particularly ready to sleep with a new spouse without knowing him. There is a conversation full of mistaken assumptions that do not get corrected before they get to sleep. Obi-Wan expects he's going to have to do the deed the next day and just got a pass tonight because Jango's tired.
Of course, none of this gets clarified the next day, because Obi-Wan gets Called Away To War. Jango spends the goodbye stiff and ready for all this political bullshit to be over, and avoiding the glare of Kenobi's apprentice. He assumes Anakin's just annoyed that someone's stealing his dad, like many kids whose parent is getting married.
Time passes. Anakin gets knighted. He starts gaining notoriety, and there are whispers in the Senate…
Padme approaches Obi-Wan and tells him that Senators are starting to show interest in Anakin's hand as a possible Jedi Spouse. Some are disgustingly old. Padme's fond of Anakin and wouldn't force him into anything, may she have Obi-Wan's permission to ask his hand in marriage?
Obi-Wan doesn't see what his opinion has to do with anything, but Anakin's been drawing their names in a heart since he was ten years old and knew that was a thing people did, so he's pretty sure Anakin would be elated. Go get it, girl.
Padme and Anakin get married. It is bliss, at least compared to most Jedi marriages. The Jedi as a whole politely ignore Anakin's Many Emotions.
They do not need to politely ignore this marriage, but they do need to ignore the two making out like horny teenagers in the corner. They are insufferable without the need for secrecy. Calm the fuck down, guys.
There is a visit to Mandalore, for Official Political Marriage Reasons. There is another Jedi-Politician marriage that shows up a day later. It's with a Senator that was very much banking on having a Pet Spouse that couldn't talk back or refuse him in bed. The Jedi in question maintains a quiet, reserved countenance that Jango and Satine both take several days to realize is less "Jedi are tranquil and detached" and more "abused spouse is not allowed to speak until spoken to," and that's mostly triggered by Obi-Wan maneuvering to get some alone time with the Jedi in question to get them a bit of respite.
Nobody feels comfortable actually asking Obi-Wan directly about this, but Satine gets someone to start researching Jedi marriages and looking for Sketchy Incidents, of which there are many.
They do not get a chance to confront Obi-Wan and ask if he'd thought this was what he was signing up for--especially since Jango's been finding him weirdly sexually available this past week, and had thought it was a 'let's both make the best of it' vibe and not a 'I need to keep you happy and expect you to use me as you'd like' situation--because war calls. Again.
The next time Obi-Wan visits his unwanted husband, it is with padawan and grandpadawan in tow. Anakin is still glaring at Jango at every chance, but seems incredibly protective of his baby sister. Baby sister is fifteen.
Everyone is very busy, because Death Watch is annoying. Neither Jango nor Satine can get Obi-Wan alone to have That Very Important Conversation. Anakin looks ready to claw apart anyone who gets too close to Ahsoka. Nobody's sure of how to take this.
Do not ask me what the Clone Situation is, I do not know. Jango doesn't have a reason to deal with Kamino in this AU but maybe his DNA was stolen and part of the reason the Republic was so desperate to treat with Mandalore was because he was raising a fuss about his clones--his kids--being enslaved by the Republic? Let's go with that.
Someone, maybe a less-shitty Bo who stuck with Satine instead of becoming a terrorist, overhears Anakin and Obi-Wan having a hissed conversation about how another politician seems to have taken interest in Ahsoka with The Intent To Demand Her Marriage, something that's been happening far more often since the war started and catapulted Jedi into social media.
Bo is like "wow, that sounds… fucked. I hope I misunderstood but I don't want to have to talk to these people. I'll tell Satine and make it her problem."
Satine and Jango finally get Obi-Wan (and Anakin, who's angry and upset and all such Anakin things) to sit down and talk over the reality of this marriage in light of what the standards for Jedi political marriages are. They manage to clarify a few points, like:
Nobody on Mandalore's side actually asked for a Jedi marriage. The Chancellor did that.
Jango didn't actually ask for anyone in particular, he just wanted to make sure his Jedi could defend themselves verbally and physically if necessary, because extremist assassins and bitchy politicians are a reality.
If Jango had known the Senate would send Obi-Wan, he'd have renegotiated to get Satine as his spouse, because she'd have told him they had a thing and he'd have happily opted out of a marriage he had no interest in.
The Chancellor's thinly-veiled suggestion that Obi-Wan would have to spread his legs at any chance comes to light. Jango is disgusted. Satine is horrified. Anakin insists there must have been a miscommunication. Anakin is summarily told to shut the fuck up.
The standard of Jedi Political Marriages is finally explained, and the Jedi get confirmation that Mandalore has until recently been part of the wider galaxy that the reality of those marriages is hidden from. In the Senate, it's a Worst Kept Secret kind of deal, but only the worst tabloids ever talk about the fact that the Jedi don't have a choice and are often functionally the Senate's forced volunteers for marital rape. Official publications are strong-armed into skirting around the issue.
Jango has no intention of forcing himself on Obi-Wan. He'd take back the heavy petting they've done so far (they got to third base) if that was a thing he could do. Please just go fuck Satine instead, you both actually want that and nobody is going to be forcing themselves in that situation.
Anakin's marriage is a happy one, don't worry. He is on cloud nine. Nobody needs to intervene with that.
Yes, people are starting to show interest in Ahsoka, and that is why Anakin has been so snappish with everyone that gets near her except the clones and Obi-Wan.
Satine, after a few minutes, says that Mandalore has no laws against polygamy, and she has an heir that would be entirely understanding of a marriage to save someone from a worse fate where neither party has expectations of more than the singular kiss to 'seal the deal' at the wedding itself. Getting married to Ahsoka wouldn't stop him from getting married to someone else as well, later. Korkie and Ahsoka have already become friends, so…
The kids are called in. They're asked if a marriage on paper only is something they'd be open to, just to keep Ahsoka safe from a much worse situation. Korkie immediately agrees, because he is his mother's son aunt's heir, and she raised him to be this way. The adults hammer out most of the details, and everyone splits.
Jango starts making a fuss about the Republic and the clones again, and somehow (re: he let Satine do most of the talking) drags another Jedi marriage out of the Senate. Since Korkie and Ahsoka have already met, it's easy to point out that they should be the pairing and then just bitch until even the Chancellor lets it happen.
Satine and Obi-Wan are sneaking off at any opportunity. Jango is politely ignoring them, and then they ask if he wants to join in, like two years in. (Ahsoka and Korkie are mildly disgusted that grownups have romantic lives.) (Anakin is freaking out over his impending fatherhood and has not noticed a goddamn thing because Padme.)
Something something, the Separatist Crisis is almost over but before Palpatine can set off O66, Jango up and declares a war on the Republic if they don't release his clones and also end the Jedi marriages. IDK where it goes from there but Palps dies, chips are gone, Jedi survive and get to send a big fuck you to the Senate and remove all the Jedi stuck in abusive marriages (nobody touches Anidala, they are more than happy, just ignore their general insanity), etc.
That's it, that's all I've got.

“You’ll have to forgive me.” Bann Trevelyan said, sitting himself down in a seat in the parlor Evelyn and Solas were sitting in. He sat next to his daughter and across from Solas. He was a stern man in his late seventies by now though his back was still straight and his gait as smooth as any young man. There were no servants in the room or refreshments laid out. Bann Trevelyan was not on to waste time on pleasantries when dealing with matters like this. “I may be old but my wits are still about me yet and I’ve had this discussion a dozen times with a dozen other people. I understand why you need to marry a human; cement ties and show that you are not going to try and eradicate humanity and topple all the other kingdoms.”
Tumblr media
Though the Bann’s hair had turned white and receded there was still clear evidence of his relation to his daughter. In particular were the eyes, he had the same sharp, green eyes as Evelyn. Right now they were analyzing every detail of his daughter’s new apparent ‘suitor.’ The Bann’s focus barely grazed over Solas’s ears and instead focused on his posture, hands, jaw and eyes. Anything to give away what Solas was thinking or feeling.
“I simply don’t understand why you’d choose my youngest daughter. She has no hope of inheriting any titles from me with so many siblings ahead of her. There are other human women in Thedas; women who exceed her in rank, titles, beauty, connections and quite possibly fertility. My wife, her mother, has given me many children but that’s no indication that my daughter can do the same for you. The mark took her arm and though she still has her monthly blood that doesn’t necessarily mean she’s able to carry a child to term.” The head of the Trevelyan family didn’t spare his daughter so much as a glance as he spoke. Neither did his daughter’s gaze turn to him. She sat beside him, hand resting in her lap as her father spoke, face like a blank canvas as her father verbally tore her down.
“Once, my daughter did lead armies. Once she was the woman even empresses looked to for salvation as she killed dragons and would-be gods. Now she’s nothing more than a crippled woman who still has trouble writing certain letters and spends her days in her greenhouse pruning poisonous plants.” Evelyn remained still and silent through it all, watching Solas the entire time and not revealing her feelings on anything her father said.

Two and a half years after being Bitten, things are finally starting to settle enough that Alpha Scott McCall can start looking beyond his nearest neighbors for alliances. Naturally, he starts with the Hale Pack; everyone in his Pack is from Beacon Hills (or has at least lived there for a while). They all miss their families, even if they honestly haven't had time to visit since everything started. For that, they need permission, and it would really be simpler for everyone if they didn't have to formally ask every time they wanted to spend the weekend in good old BH. Plus, there was the thing with Stiles.
Everything gets a bit more complicated when Alpha Hale suggests she might be interested in one of the more old-fashioned alliances.
Stiles has never been one to let an opportunity pass him by.
(This started life as "Okay, but what if Stiles volunteered to be married off" and went from there. It's two parts exposition, one part fluff, and one part me trying to avoid writing any politics in my Political Marriage!AU)

TELL US ABOUT THE PRINCESS KNIGHT AU PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PL
Tumblr media
ok sorry its been like two months but anyways lets talk abt the princess/knight au!!!
Tumblr media
haru is a princess, specifically the only heir to king kunikazu. yusuke is sort of a knight, but it's more that he's haru's personal bodyguard!
his mother was a court painter. she was pretty physically weak and fell ill a lot, and after she had yusuke, she realised that, while her and her family were able to live with the royal family for now due to her work, if and when her sickness claims her, her son would no longer be welcome in the castle. since she was all the family yusuke had, that would mean hed likely live the rest of his life on the streets, and as a young child, he wouldnt have the means to make that rest of his life a very long one.
so she made a deal with the king, haru's father, and it was decided he would grow up as harus retainer.
Tumblr media
[image ID slash written text for those who cant read my handwriting (😔):
(servant, holding a 1 year old haru in their arms): do you see him, princess? [a shot of a small baby sleeping] his name is yusuke. from now on, his job will be to protect you.
a note next to the drawing of baby haru reads "yusuke is a year younger than haru, as in canon, but it was decided very early on in his life that he would be haru's personal guard!"
a drawing of a young yusuke and haru with another note that says "he began learning how to wield a sword and bow basically as soon as he was physically able, but until he was learned enough to protect haru, he just acted sort of as an escort to her {while a retinue guarded both of them}"
end id.]
its a good thing it was decided so early, too: yusukes mother succumbed to illness before yusuke was even three years old. (he has no memory of her. haru doesnt either, but she DOES remember the funeral that was held.)
(one of the last pieces yusukes mother ever painted was of a young haru holding a baby, a man who would one day become her guard. it became a pretty significant piece for the okumura kingdom for a while, actually: it was used to mean "serve the royal family and it shall serve you, in turn". its hung up on the stairwell into the castle guards' quarters.)
anyway, so yusuke and haru grew up together. they were paired so early on into their lives that neither of them have any memory of a time without each other: for all it matters to them, they were born hand-in-hand with their roles set in place.
they were very close as children, especially before yusuke was considered sufficiently trained in his weapons. it was very common for them to walk around the castle holding hands, and they barely ever separated, only ever doing so for things like sleep or bathing, or lessons-- though the last of those wasnt always true. yusuke would have lessons alongside haru in things like etiquette, of course, but could also be found in the room for things such as history, or her music lessons. likewise, haru would watch yusuke train, though she wasnt allowed to wield a sword or bow herself and could only cheer him on.
(not until they were a bit older, when yusuke taught her how to fight with a sword himself. even then, they used wooden swords, so that haru wouldnt get hurt.)
yusuke was the only boy other than the king himself allowed in harus bedroom, since the only others given access were the handmaids responsible for things like cleaning her room, dressing or bathing her, et cetera. he used to enter as he pleased as such, and only got into the practice of properly knocking and announcing his presence as they got older. hes all-together almost completely stopped actually going into her room, opting instead to stand at her door until she leaves, herself.
as they grew up, they were steadily more and more discouraged from being as physically affectionate as they were as children. yusuke was punished for doing things like holding her hand if they were seen, and was taught to instead be a silent presence to her side or two paces behind her, seen and not heard, the way a "guard" ought to be. at the same time, harus etiquette lessons taught her the necessary decorum to be a princess and one day a queen, and there was no room for a friendship with a retainer, even if it was yusuke. though they care for each other just as much as when they were children, perhaps even more devoted, youd be fair to miss it, since neither of them are able to be open with each other anymore.
(yusukes still slightly more touchy-feely than whats probably expected of a guard. its not really physical affection in the same way, but he'll do things like brush dust or pluck lint off of haru's dresses himself or adjust her hair or jewelry or clothes-- of course, only to make sure her highness looks her best, so its forgiven to the outside observer, but still something technically not of his station.)
haru is a lot different that she was when they were children. proper etiquette is extensive, obviously, and the young girl that was considered the country's daughter, kind and open whenever seen in processions, has long since been stripped for parts. her public face has matured quite a bit by necessity, though her kindness and permanent smile remains-- it's simply that it's more of a part she plays, at this point, any of her natural disposition worn to steel, as a certain amount of control is necessary for a woman of her station.
she doesnt regret the person shes become, even if somewhat conniving-- after all, she needs a certain amount of cunning to keep her head above water in the political scene. or its more that she's not able to regret it, as she's never had any other option than to become as jaded as she is today.
still, it's hard not to yearn for the old days, when they were innocent children. shes not quite aware of it, herself, but she certainly misses yusuke, her friend. its just hard to figure that out when to this day, yusuke, her guard, remains as staunchly by her side as her best friend always has.
when i made the initial drawings for the princess/knight au, i wrote the beginning of a short story of a yusuke pov that i unfortunately must have tossed it because i dont have it anymore, but his character is defined by his devotion. hes never known anything other than being haru's, after all, and considers everything he does a labour of love for her. every moment he spends training is for her, every injury for her sake, every callous a simple, unavoidable byproduct of his servitude. he keeps the posture he learned in his etiquette classes even in private, because erring once is to live with the knowledge of his erring forever, and more than that, risking forming the habit of being anything less than the perfect knight for his lady is something he can't bear the thought of.
luckily, there isnt much danger living in the castle, so yusuke only trains as ardently as he does as precaution for the most part, but there was one incident in which the castle was attacked by royal detractors. haru wasnt actively targeted, being only 8 years old at the time, but there was a spot of trouble where he had to protect her. yusuke, being 7, wasnt fully learned in his swordsmanship yet, and sustained a few scars, including but not limited to one on his eyebrow he hides behind his hair, but considers himself barely harmed, especially considering that that was the incident that took many other castle guards' lives, as well as the life of the queen, haru's mother.
king kunikazu and the kingdom at large is currently pretty uneasy due to a war brewing just a bit away; neither the kingdom nor any of its current allies are being actively threatened, but its one of already many due to one kingdom's ancient rome-esque conquering of a path of smaller countries, and the "okumura" kingdom looks as if it will be on the warpath sooner or later. due to this, the kingdom's engaged with an alliance with a comparatively smaller kingdom that it neighbours. the alliance is going to be officiated with a marriage: haru is kunikazu's only heir, but due to some societal stuff, as a woman she's considered unfit to rule as a monarch. so, she's now to be married with one of the sons of said neighbouring kingdom, who will act as ruler with her at his side:
Tumblr media
akira is the son of the king and technically an eligible heir to the kurusu kingdom, but due to his place as the 4th son, he's not a crown prince/not considered to be in line for the throne-- or at least, not to his home nation, as he's now set to be the king of the okumura kingdom.
he seems to be of the same mind as haru: uninterested in her in a romantic sense, but has accepted the marriage for the sake of his country. however, he also seems completely uninterested-- or perhaps actively against-- the prospect of being king, not of his own country and not of the okumura kingdom. it seems that hes grown up acting as more of a free spirit; hes pretty crafty, and has a reputation amongst his own retinue for always managing to sneak off, running away as soon as hes left unattended by his father or instructors, or disappearing overnight (much to the grief and distress of his caretakers), though he's always returned, apparently rather aware of his own limits, or at least capable of getting himself out of whatever trouble he ends up getting into, without drawing the ire of either the common people or his father, the king.
because of his nature, he either sees himself as unfit for king, or merely feels stifled by the idea of the position, and in private talks has disclosed to haru that hed much rather her take her (in his words) rightful place as the queen and head of the nation, and is more than alright with her being the brains/power of the operation, even if in the end it has to be him giving speeches when necessary.
however, while disliking the idea of being a king in general, and also disinterested in haru as anything more than a confidant (having also privately disclosed to her that he does have his eye on someone), he seems attached to the arrangement of this marriage, for “some unknown reason”.
Tumblr media
((thats right baby its ALSO a kitashu au get fucked))
akira and haru are officially engaged at the time of the story, and are in the midst of planning for the wedding! they tentatively become friends, since theyre both kind of stuck with each other presumably for the rest of their lives. hes seemingly made a goal to make haru let her guard down, and has even convinced her at some point to sneak out of the castle with him (at a point where he and his father were visiting) to explore the surrounding town without their retinues-- something that gave yusuke specifically about 7 heart attacks, as its something harus never done before.
oh yeah, and by the way, yusuke fucking hates akira.
haru really liked seeing the town without her guards, and without having to put on the air of princess. it was freeing to act as a commoner, and the first time shes been able to strip herself of her etiquette-- something she cant do around anyone in the castle, not even yusuke, at least not to the extent she has to to blend in with the townspeople. she liked it so much that it becomes a regular thing whenever akira is at the castle and not in his own country.
some of harus caretakers have noticed her disappearances, including yusuke, who is at her side in almost every waking moment: he greets her in the morning to escort her to breakfast and brings her to her room at night. when hes not standing at her side, hes guarding the room shes in, and only leaves her when its time for him to turn in for the night, as well. obviously hes noticed this sudden habit of disappearing, and more than that, HES the one who ends up tasked with discouraging harus maids from disclosing this to king kunikazu, since haru isnt aware theyve figured her out, and their social standing disallows them from discussing it with her themselves. haru asked yusuke to keep her and akira's outings a secret from her father when he confronted her after the first time, so its his duty to make sure its a secret.
its not that yusuke resents akira for giving him more work-- hes more than happy to do something as trivial as this for haru, his princess, but its more that this means yusukes forced to be idle while distinctly aware that haru, who hes spent his entire life protecting and caring for, is off somewhere unknown, could be in danger or could be physically harmed, and hes not only none the wiser but also complicit, by allowing her to do this. though he cant ask her to stop, because its clear haru is happier with these momentary escapes. its a miserable position to be in, and he fully blames akira for being the one to put him there
(and resents him for the fact that akira is an outsider and a newcomer. despite this, its clear that hes doing something for haru that yusuke hasnt been able to, not since they started growing up. hes making her happy, and comfortable.
its anxiety over harus safety, and an intense, burning jealousy that hes not really able to identify in the same way)
Tumblr media
[text id:
yusuke looking angry as he says "my lady's happiness is of the utmost importance to me. it is for this reason alone that i will allow these escapades to go on, without reporting them to the king or your father." "this marriage will be essential to this country's future, and i have no intention of interfering in your relationship with your fiancée, even considering my role as her loyal servant."
the second drawing reveals him to have cornered akira, seemingly pinning him to a wall, as he continues "however, if i find you to ever, ever put the princess's life in danger, then this country as well as your own be damned, i will strike you down myself, and i swear on my life to make your death ten thousand times as painful as whatever harm you have caused to her highness. do you understand, my lord?"
akira is blushing heavily, knees cowed slightly. he stutters out a "uh. uh-huh" like he's in a trance. an arrow points to him with a note that reads "his gay ass is NOT listening!"
end id]
for some actual story…
during a banquet held in celebration of akira and haru's engagement, king kunikazu suddenly collapsed and lost his life in that room. it was discovered that the cup he was drinking from was poisoned.
Tumblr media
no one has any idea who assassinated the king-- it could very well be some of the many citizens that disliked the king's rather strict policies. the taxes are high, and punishment for crimes tend to be much stricter than in other countries. however, a common rumour among many of the townsfolk is that it was the world of the neighbouring kingdom: a ploy to get prince akira in power in order to take over the nation and subsume it as part of the kurusus' country.
regardless of whether or not that has any merit or is simply baseless rumour, the wedding has been temporarily postponed so that the country-- and haru-- may focus on the investigation. akira, at the least, seems more than willing to help. if it really the scheme of his nation, or of his father, he seems both unaware and unwilling to be a part of it, offering every aid he can to haru, even if it ends up only effectively being an open ear.
yusuke remains by her side, as he always had and as he always will-- perhaps a bit more protective of her, somehow, but the entire castle is on edge, so its not as if thats unexpected. as a knight, a simple extension of his lady's will, he cant do much for her to solve her problems, not possessing the intelligence to solve the case of her father's murder, the political knowhow to aide her and her fathers advisor who's acting as regent pro tempore in ruling, nor a magical ability to bring king kunikazu, someone who he had come to see as his own father in some form, himself, back from the land of the dead. still, he is harus humble servant, and devoted to her above all else, and whatever his lady needs, he will do his best to provide.
the story is about the political aspect of haru and akiras ascension to ruling and of trying to find a culprit, but also about the relationship between the three of them: akira getting closer to both of them, and yusuke and haru reconnecting. :)

Eros for @jonsa-valentine
Wisdom would dictate she cease. No matter what she did she couldn’t--he wouldn’t—he’d never allow himself to so much as caress her, and she’d long since taken to her layers as comfort. The thick cloth and leathers her protection from those unwanted gazes, and she was angry that she was so foolish to open herself to this now. But trust allowed for foolishness, and anger made her reckless. She pulled her corset free as well, another layer dropped to the floor until fine muslin was all that protected her.
Her bold action was a farce. She blushed.
To her great satisfaction, he did too.
