Keeping It Quiet | E.M.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eddie comes to visit you when everyone is sleeping... or so you thought — eddie x fem!hopper!reader fluff
warnings: suggestive content, making out, fear of getting caught, jokes about guns/getting shot
words: 1.7k
a/n: idgaf about timeline or continuity with the show when I do this series of oneshots, it's just kind of an alternate version of the show where Hopper is still here around the events of season 4 ig (also I LOVE this gif of joseph omg)
Tumblr media
It was late at night, but you weren’t sleeping. You were taking advantage of the quiet house and catching up on some reading that finally wasn’t for school. You laid with the book at the foot of your bed, and your feet dangling over your pile of stuffed animals right by your pillows.
It was so comfortable, you forgot about the world around you.
And you were only brought back by the terrifying sound of someone knocking on your window. It scared you right out of your haze, at least until you looked outside and realised who it was.
Eddie was standing right outside your bedroom wall with a stupid grin on his face, and he was pointing to the windowsill, wordlessly asking you to let him in.
After rolling your eyes and marking your spot in the book, you got up and opened the window for your boyfriend.
“What are you doing here?” You asked, leaning over the separation to peck his lips quickly.
“Not quite the warm welcome I was expecting.” He grunted, using the log you had placed under your window to climb in your room. “You’re not happy to see me?”
“You scared the hell out of me ‘cause you didn’t tell me you were coming over.”
“I didn’t know I was coming over until I was already in my van. I haven’t seen you in forever, plus I had something I wanted to show you.”
The last part was intriguing, but you still wanted to correct his dramatics. You’ve learned that if you didn’t act as the voice of reason sometimes, he would start believing his own exaggerations.
“It’s been two days since you last saw me.” And it didn’t take long for you to give in to whatever he was hiding. “But what is it that I have to see?”
He let out an exaggerated sigh as he flopped down on the end of your bed. He looked up at you with fake sadness. “I should have known you would only like me for material things, Madonna.”
“So what if I was a material girl? You’d still love me anyways.”
He started speaking like he was in the school play, which he would never do. “It’s just sad—”
You jumped towards him to cover his mouth with your hand. As much as you loved his antics and would encourage it at any other time, it was all quiet in your house and you were petrified of waking your family.
“Are you crazy?” You asked him in a hushed scold.
He just nodded happily since he couldn’t speak with your hand still over his mouth.
“If my dad hears you, he’ll burst into the room with a gun in his hand. You might be able to charm the pants off of me effortlessly, but I think you’d get shot if you tried to test your charisma on the chief of police.”
You cautiously took your hand away from Eddie’s face while he looked at you with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“Stop looking at me like that and show me what you wanted me to see in the first place.” You told him, sternly but lovingly.
“Wow, you really are the chief’s daughter.” He joked as he stood up and took off his leather jacket.
You figured he was just making himself comfortable, but when he started taking off the t-shirt he was wearing underneath the coat, you wondered what was really going on.
Then you saw it.
On his right side, where his rib cage ends, there was a new tattoo. A flaming sword that you knew was based on his current—and favourite—Dungeons and Dragons campaign of his.
He pointed to the pommel of the weapon, which was a heart shaped gemstone.
“Did you see the end? It doesn’t have anything to do with the game, but I designed it while thinking of you.” He smiled at you, and you smiled back. “Do you like it?”
“I love it, Eds.” You answered sincerely. “When did you get it done?”
“Friday. Right after your dad picked you up from the mall.”
“Did it hurt?”
He shook his head as he gently pushed you back against your pillows, then positioned himself on top of you.
“Not as much as it hurts to be away from you.”
You had to stifle your own laugh at his corniness. As stupid as it was, you did feel kind of flattered by him at that moment. And that’s exactly why you let him kiss you, despite you being just a few decibels away from your sleeping father waking up and grounding you permanently for sneaking a boy in.
But you pushed all your worries aside and let him press his luscious lips against yours. God, how you couldn’t get enough of that sensation.
You loved how he kissed you just because he likes to kiss you, how he used flavoured chapstick so he could heal his chapped lips, and how he always tasted faintly of cigarettes and the lemon candies you got him hooked on.
You loved all that almost as much as what came next.
When he moved his lips from your mouth to your jaw, and then your neck. He nipped the skin just lightly and then continued to work his magic. You had both noted another time just like this that your bodies must be made for each other, and this exact moment was perfect proof for that claim.
“Oh, god, Eddie. You’re so good at this.” You praised, trying to keep your voice down.
He mumbled an ‘mhm?’ against your throat. He was such a sucker for your affirmations.
“Yeah. Just be careful not to leave a bruise.”
Eddie lifted his head up, causing your face to morph into a frown from the expression of pleasure just a second ago.
“You don’t want little reminders of my love?” He asked, lips exaggeratedly  pouted.
“Not when my family can see them, loverboy.”
He seemed satisfied with that response, returning his attention to you and practically attacking your neck with his kisses. The way his mouth was worshipping your neck damn near put you in a trance. It was so good that you didn’t even notice the soft knock at your door, nor the opening that followed it.
When your younger sister called out your name softly, that’s when you realised the importance of not letting your guard down. You tried to push Eddie off of you as he hadn’t seen Eleven there yet, but he got up quickly once he did notice.
You urged him to sit down and stay silent while you pulled El away from your bedroom and into the bathroom, all while your sister stared at you with a wide-eyed expression.
Eleven was the first one to speak between you two. “Who was that in your room?”
“That was my friend.” You said, partially honest. He was your friend, he was just also more. “His name is Eddie.”
“What were you and Eddie doing?”
You racked your brain, trying to think of something believable to say that would get your sister off your back. You really should have prepared a lie before this, because it was proving to be more difficult than you would have thought; of course, you never really thought about your sister catching you making out with your shirtless boyfriend.
“We were playing.” You answered as confidently as possible.
“Playing?”
You nodded. “Yeah, you know when you and I play-fight, like wrestling? When Dad sometimes thinks we’re hurting each other but we’re really just having fun?”
“So you and Eddie were just having fun?”
“Mhm.” You ran a hand through her hair, feeling somewhat guilty about your lie. “Why? Were you worried about me?”
She didn’t seem fazed at all by your fingers combing through her hair, but her cheeks flooded with pink when you asked if she knocked on your door out of concern for you.
“I heard you were awake and I wanted to know what you were doing.” Eleven told you.
It really was nothing embarrassing, she’s just a shy girl. And now you felt less guilty about lying since you know she was just curious rather than upset.
“Well, I was just playing with my friend. But, don’t tell Dad about Eddie, okay?”
“Why not?”
Another question you didn’t quite have an answer for. Luckily, you were quick enough on your toes that your little sister wouldn’t notice the nonsense spilling from your mouth.
“You know Dad can be a fun sponge sometimes. Like when he spends an hour questioning your friends before you can hang out, or when he won’t let us turn the couch into a pillow fort. If he hears about Eddie, he won’t let us have fun together anymore, and I would be really sad if I couldn’t see my friend.”
She seemed to be eating your excuse up, knowing exactly what you meant.
“Okay. I won’t tell him.” She agreed. “I don’t want you to be sad.”
“And I don’t want you to be tired, little lady. So, now that you know what you wanted to learn, how about you go back to sleep, okay?”
“Okay, goodnight.”
She opened the slightly creaky bathroom door and headed back to her bedroom, hopefully to fall back asleep soon.
“Goodnight, El. Sleep tight.” You called in a volume just above the whisper you were using just seconds before.
You stood in the bathroom alone after you heard your sister’s bedroom door close. For a minute, you just listened to everything around your house. The quiet wind blowing outside, the sounds of Eddie flipping through your books as he waited for you to come back, and best of all, not a peep from your father’s room.
It was safe to return to Eddie in your bedroom and resume the fooling around from before.
Once you silently pushed open your door, closed it again, and sat down next to your boyfriend on the corner of your bed, he pulled you onto his lap.
“So, we’re in the clear now?” Eddie asked you.
“Yeah, but that doesn’t mean we can be any less careful than usual. That just proves my family can hear us, so let’s not be stupid.”
A flirty grin spread across Eddie’s face as he trailed his fingers under your shirt and up your sides. “Baby, I can’t promise anything. Stupid is my middle name.”

five dates to fall in love
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
part one. part two. part three (here). part four. part five. part six coming soon.
pairing : hyunjin x gn!reader
summary : after a two year long unspoken hatred, hyunjin and you are forced to be costars in a romantic series, but when it comes to filming any of the romance scenes, you both utterly fail and are unable to get through your lines. the director threatens to take your roles away if you two aren't able to get past this within the next week, which spawns the genius idea from both your managers: can you learn to (fake) fall in love in seven dates and save your careers?
wc : 2.7k
cw :actor!au, enemies to lovers ?!, slowburn (?!), not proofread, descriptors of insecurity and stuff, internal struggle but nothing serious
a/n : finally... its here... sorry for this taking long, i was traveling for holidays and then classes started but its here! lmk what you guys think :3 this chapter is a lot chiller imo... just trying to set a Vibe of emotional conflict... ALSO im not trying to paint hyunjin as the bad guy.,.,, but i think its also important to show that people will form opinions no matter what and will inevitably pick a side. so yus...
⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘
Tears cascaded down your warm cheeks as you tossed yourself in your bed, the frustration and anger you were holding back finally catching up to you as quiet sobs escaped your lips. You hated how horrible the feeling of pure anger, as it always felt you were on the verge of bursting at the seams from how violent and erratic the emotion was as it overran your body. You had no idea what to do with it, always allowing it to linger til it overwhelmed you to the point of tears and surrendered to its burning grip. Your phone began to vibrate, which your hand mindlessly reached over for and picked up without second thought, as you knew it would be no other than Chan calling you at such a moment.
“Y/N… Are you okay?” concern dripped from Chan’s voice, while all you could muster out was a muffled grumble as you stuffed your tear-stained face into your pillows. “Right,” he responds, acknowledging your groan, “Well, I heard what happened through Changbin, so I called to check in on you.”
You take a deep breath in to soothe your hoarse throat from your onslaught of tears, praying your voice wouldn’t be too shaky as you spoke, “Well, I’m upset.”
“I don’t blame you one bit, I’d be just as upset as you are,” he reassured you gently, “Do you want to talk about it? Or do you need some more time to figure your feelings out?”
“I don’t know,” you mumble, turning your face away from the pillows so your voice was clearer, “I don’t know how to feel. It’s just a lot. It’s such a stupid reason for him to have just been so shitty to me for so long. He literally could’ve just asked me or talked to me about it instead of assuming.”
“Right, I agree. Even Changbin didn’t know about that being the reason,” added Chan, “I’m sure he lectured him on it because that is a crazy conclusion to jump to.”
“And I’m even more upset that was the conclusion he landed on! Why did he just assume I’d do something so terrible? Why did he not consider that I was trying to help him secure the role?”
“Sounds like he has an insecurity issue, if I had to guess, but who knows. You have every right to be upset, but there is another pressing matter we do need to address.”
You sigh, rolling onto your back as you use your free hand to rub your temples, “Yeah, I know. As upset as I am right now, I do still want to keep doing this project, but…”
“But…?”
“I don’t really… know if I can do that because I don’t wanna see his stupid face or go out on any other practice dates,” you huffed angrily, feeling a bit relieved to verbalize some of your feelings.
“Well, I won’t force you to go on another date if you still need time to cool off, but maybe it will help you get used to seeing his stupid face after this. Plus, Changbin did tell me that you have permission to yell at Hyunjin if you wanna get that out the way.”
You let out a small chuckle, unsurprised to hear that Changbin said such a thing, “I’m not going to yell at him, but I appreciate the offer. I don’t know, I’m still really worked up from the whole thing.”
“Give yourself time, you can let me know in the morning how you’re feeling and we can go from there, okay?” Chan asks, the gentle tone of his voice bringing you a sense of comfort.
“Okay, I’ll do that. Thanks Chan.”
“Of course, take care, Y/N.”
⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘
The next morning rolled by rather quickly and while it would’ve been a lovely day to stay in bed, your stubbornness caused you to find yourself walking to your third date of the week. You were still terribly upset at Hyunjin and forgiveness was not in the cards at this point, yet you had other pressing matters that did not allow you to wallow up in hatred and resentment for him. You had to set your feelings aside for a moment in order to make some sort of progress on this current acting project, as you were way too excited for how the final product would turn out and truly believed in the success of the film.
Although, you didn’t have high hopes for today, as you expected it to be a similar outcome to your previous dates. Today’s day was Chan’s idea, which was attending a local farmer’s market in your area that provided all sorts of family-owned shops to look through, including a variety of food to choose from. It was a bit last minute, but Chan knew your love for these small events, so he hoped this would bring you some joy, but also give you the opportunity to wander off from Hyunjin if needed, while also giving you both the chance to talk about something.
You were approaching the entrance to the park it was being hosted at, checking the time on your phone relieved to know you were on time. Honestly, while Hyunjin would probably be late once again, you didn’t mind the chance to enjoy bits of the market alone, especially on such a sunny day during these winter months. However, you were completely stunned to find Hyunjin waiting by the entrance as well, nonetheless waiting five minutes earlier than the time Chan had told you. He stood there awkwardly, both hands in the pockets of his coat as he bounced on the balls of his feet nervously, his eyes widening when his gaze finally lands on you.
You approach him with caution and a raised eyebrow, not completely believing the sight before you, “I didn’t expect you to be here so early,” you state curtly, trying your best to remain civil and cordial despite yesterday’s events.
“Well,” he stammered, his fingers jittering in his pockets, “I think I owe you an apology, and I thought showing up on time for once was one way to show that I am being genuine.”
“An apology?” you question, your ears not believing his words.
He sighs nervously, brushing a hand through his hair, “I have… realized I was entirely wrong about the situation, and I am truly sorry for that and for treating you so horribly the past two years we’ve known each other.” You wear an unconvinced expression, unsure what could’ve caused him to have a change of heart overnight, especially since he was just in deep denial the day before. He continues his statement after picking up on your apprehension, “I ended up reaching out to director Han about the situation and he… he told me how much you vouched for me when he spoke to you.”
You nod your head as you take in his words, “I see, well, I’m glad you’ve come to that realization and I accept your apology,” a hopeful look appears on his face, “But, I do need time before I can forgive you because the way you’ve treated me has really hurt me. And the fact that you thought I’d ever do that to you hurt me a lot too.”
His expression falters, but he offers an understanding smile, “I completely understand, I honestly do not even deserve your kindness right now, so thank you for being kind about this.”
You return his smile with a tightlipped one, still not entirely believing the sudden change in him, but you couldn’t lie, it did feel a bit nice to see him so timid and meek, and hearing an apology come from him did help loosen the knot of rage that laid dormant in your stomach. “Well,” you clear your throat awkwardly, trying to find a way to continue the day, “Do you want to head in?”
“Sure, lead the way,” he responds, his hands returning to his coat pockets as he anxiously trailed behind you. Eye bags hung on his face, indicating the restless night he had suffered due to the guilt he had been digesting since his phone call with the director. Hyunjin felt horrible after the revelation he had, feeling nothing but the heavy, deep seated weight of anxiety and guilt resting atop his chest. Even the sight of you made the feeling worse, facing the reality of how his actions have affected you all this time was a whole new hurdle he had to learn to conquer. The least he could do was try to be as kind as he could be from here on out, and brace himself for whatever angry slurry of curses you had for him, but how could Hyunjin forget?
The volatile version of you he had become used to these past two years was not who you truly were, but something he provoked out of you through his incessant insults and stale attitude. In reality, you were an extremely kind and patient person outside of the context of your relationship with him, and your reaction to his apology was evidence of that. He couldn’t help it, he felt like such an idiot for thinking you, of all people, would have ever sabotaged an important role for him, and he only further deluded himself in that belief by pushing you to the point of petty toxicity.
The best he could do was remain quiet as he followed your course through the various stalls, the shame only intensifying when he would witness your eyes widen with joy whenever you found an item that interested you, and how you even took the time to converse with each stall owner about their products. The genuinity in your nature was something he couldn’t believe he had denied for so long, disillusioned himself so far to have forgotten it. All for what? Because he couldn’t accept his own failures, or face the daunting insecurities about his talents that he held so closely to his heart? Perhaps it was your self-assuredness that caused a hint of jealousy to brew into this mess he had concocted today, your very confidence that struck a chord of envy within him. He didn’t quite understand what led him to act in such a manner, he could only guess why he was the way he was, but all he knew was that he owed you a lifetime of favors.
At the moment, he stood uncomfortably by your side as he watched you peruse through a few crocheted trinkets a stall had, afraid to disrupt the bits of peace you could’ve had with him tagging along. In all honesty, to an outsider, he probably looks like a child who got dragged along with his parents on a day out. You sigh as you place the trinket down, turning your head to catch his eyes darting around nervously, “Hyunjin,” you speak. He startles upon hearing his name, not expecting you to ever pay him any mind today. “I get this is awkward, but you can loosen up a bit. I don’t bite,” you chide with a hint of playfulness in an attempt to lighten the mood.
He lets out a strained exhale, acknowledging your words, “You’re right, I just don’t want to make you feel weird or uncomfortable,” he confesses.
“Well, I think staying quiet doesn’t help that cause much, does it?” you ask rhetorically before adding on, “It’s okay. Have you seen anything you like from any of the stalls? I really like what this one has,” you muse, a gentle smile taking your features as you hold up a small crocheted keychain of a  jellyfish with a wobbly smile on it, “He’s kinda silly looking, I think I might take him home with me.”
Hyunjin lets out an airy chuckle, his shoulders relaxing a tad, “He definitely is funny looking,” he replies, “Ah, I don’t know. There’s so much here, this is my first time going to something like this.”
“Oh, this is your first time? You’ve never been to the farmer’s market ever?”
“Nope, never been, but this is nice. It’s a lot better than I imagined.”
“You’ve been missing out, I love going to these. I try to go every now and then whenever I’m free,” you took out your wallet, handing the vendor cash to pay for the keychain, “There’s always fun knick knacks here, and everyone is so sweet. You sure there’s nothing you wanna stop by before grabbing some food?”
His eyes scan the stalls surrounding you both, but you notice them lingering at a small jewelry stall that sold handcrafted rings, ones that definitely fit his aesthetic. “Come on,” you motion him to follow you to the stand, “Maybe you’ll see something you’ll like.” He follows behind you, still in a timorous manner, but you could see the way his eyes brighten once he realizes where you were dragging him off to. Although you were far from friends, it didn’t mean you weren’t aware of how particular he could be when it came to fashion, and you wanted him to at least get something out of today after suffering intense awkwardness.
It was now your turn to watch Hyunjin look through the assortment of jewelry the owner had laid out and of course, he was gravitating towards the silver rings, each with their own intricate designs that demonstrated the amount of artistry and talent the owner held. He looks overwhelmed with the amount of choices before him, indecisive as he holds two different rings in his hands, modeling each to figure out which one he liked best. “Why not just get both of them?” you ask.
“Both?” he ponders on the suggestion, “I guess I could do that.”
“Or,” you start, picking up a ring that you thought would suit his taste, “get this one instead,” you hand him the ring, a knowing smile on your face.
His mouth fell in surprise at it, slipping it on his finger as his eyes marvelled, “Wow, this one is so nice,” he mumbles while now placing the two previous rings away, “How did you know I’d like this one?”
You shrug nonchalantly, turning away from him, “You know, we were friends once,?” you remind him, “Just get it, find me by the food stands once you pay for it.”
He stays in his place as he watches you walk away, once more left speechless by your kindness as he begins to wonder how you were able to treat him as such. The guilt that made its home in his stomach began to rumble, the bitter taste of it overpowering his sense as he comes to terms with just how wrong he was all this time, and how awful he had been to someone as gentle as you.
⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘
The day had come to an end, and surprisingly the latter half went better than either of you could have expected. In a way, it was like time hadn’t passed as you both chatted effortlessly over food from whatever food truck caught each of your attentions. You both caught up on what you missed in each other’s lives during your heated rivalry, and somehow, every part of the conversation felt natural, nothing felt out of place and it was almost as if the past two years didn’t exist.
It was incredibly unsettling for you, and you started to feel a bit conflicted on where your anger lied with the boy as the time you spent softened your heart. Although, you knew you couldn’t allow him back into your life that easily, as his behavior deserves some sort of consequences, so you decided you couldn’t allow yourself to surrender that easily. Not all because you found yourself missing the friendship you once had with him, that wasn’t a good enough reason to overlook his actions. You cursed yourself silently as you arrived home, yet there was a small voice in the back of your mind that tried to convince you that perhaps it was best to let this happen in the name of the acting project you were both on.
No, no, you remind yourself, he definitely doesn’t deserve your forgiveness or trust that easily.

“Could I get your phone number?” Call him crazy, but Luke felt like there was a spark between him and this girl, stuck in their own bubble as loud music pounded through the walls. Plus, Chris kept pestering him on maybe not spending so much time in his own world. “Maybe kiss a girl or two, party a little” Chris would say. Yet it didn’t come easy to him, always scared of rejection. But after a bit too much liquid courage and just the right vibe, he thought, screw it, maybe shooting his shot might actually get him somewhere.
The girl only smiled and nodded, lingering her fingers on his, grabbing his phone and typing away. “I’ll text you once I get home,” he said, a flirty smile on his face as the girl only giggled and got whisked away with the crowd. All while Luke internally punched the air in triumph, maybe this was it. He could already imagine himself on dates, taking her to the movie theatre downtown. Caught up in his illusions, lips giddy as ever, he walked back to Chris, ready to share it all.
“Rookie mistake, castellan,” said Chris as he nodded in disapproval at his story. “Why? I literally got her number,” retaliated Luke, a small frown forming.
“You always ask for insta first. Come on, man this is common knowledge. You run the risk that she gave you a fake number. You can’t fake an instagram account.”
It wasn’t like Chris had much experience either but he was very much more outgoing. He didn’t fear rejection, and things just came to him. “Well I’m sure it’s not a fake number. She was too nice to do that” he said.
Yet all night, Luke couldn’t shake the feeling that Chris was right; it was a fake. So, of course, as he got home, the first thing he did was text said phone number.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You were sound asleep when you heard the annoying buzzing of your phone. Tumbling in your bed, annoyed at whoever was disturbing your sleep, you check the message. Not understanding the text, since a) you haven’t met anyone, and b) it’s 3 am.
Tumblr media
‘And prayers,’ you thought, turning on your light to see your phone better.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You texted back, turning off your lamp as you tried to fall back to sleep. You couldn’t help but feel really annoyed to whoever thought it was okay to text at 3 am, but also kind of sad for this mysterious being. Yet all thoughts went out the window as your heavy eyes finally started to close, regaining back your sleep.

Sporteen Masterlist
Welcome to what I call my chronic brainrot and where I start to accept the fact that I might actually like watching sports even tho I spent most of my childhood saying I hate sports lol
This is the first series I’ve done and I’m also a first year uni student so I make no promises on how frequent I can update this but I do wanna try to get them done at least by when my semester ends in like April
Also some of the stories are linked as since some of the guys are on the same team/sport
Tumblr media
Choi Seungcheol: Pucking Chemistry
Summary: You never should’ve agreed to tutor the captain of the hockey team. Who shows up a full hour after the agreed meeting time? Choi Seungcheol, apparently as you’ve come to learn. And now you’re stuck tutoring him because for some reason, you're his last hope to pass chemistry so he’s eligible to play in an upcoming tournament.
Warnings: cursing because I can’t help myself lol, mentions of your father abandoning the family
Extra info: high school setting, Cheol uses the term "princess" a lot and I'm a sucker for calling people by their last name, mentions of Monsta X’s I.M (aka Changkyun) and Kard’s Somin (but she gets mentioned like once lol), your little brother’s name never gets mentioned but you do call him Frosty lol, and my knowledge of hockey is limited to watching Dr. Mike on yt talk about hockey injuries so there’s not a whole lot of hockey action in this fic lmao. On a personal note, this fic made my realize my little brother is turning 13 this year and I can’t handle that because what do you mean he’s a teen now he literally turned one the other day and I think that shows in this fic lol

Yoon Jeonghan:  Maybe Romeo and Juliet Were Onto Something
Summary: When you agreed to help your dad with coaching his soccer team, you expected to help with writing down prs and handing out water bottles in return for free tickets and an excuse to be out of your dorm. What you didn’t expect to happen was falling for the charming co-captain of his soccer team. So do you take your shot with co-captain or do you heed your dad’s one and only rule of absolutely no dating his players?
Warnings: cursing since that’s gonna be pretty much a staple in my writing lol, arguments with a parent
Extra info: uni setting, so originally Jeonghan was gonna be a basketball player but then I remembered I hate basketball due to getting hit in the face and breaking my glasses on my birthday during practice… Plus I saw a tiktok of svt playing sports and Jeonghan was playing soccer and the gears started turning in my head lol

Hong (Jisoo) Joshua:  It’s a Win-Win! Right?
Summary: Agreeing to fake date your best friend definitely wasn’t on your schedule when you dropped by after Joshua’s swim practice after your student council meeting had ended. But with his oddly passionate fangirls, you suppose this was more for his comfort than anything else. And hey, you could also use this to get your vice president to stop hitting on you as well, so it's a win-win for everyone. Plus it’s not like you’d be met with the realization that you might be in love with your best friend, that’s crazy…
Warnings: cursing because I can’t help myself lol, and crazy fangirls
Extra info: high school setting, I got a confession… I don’t actually know how to swim lmaoo I just never learned so I apologize for the lack of actual swimming lol and Joshua is definitely inspired by Oikawa from Haikyuu in the sense of his fangirls lol and I guarantee there’s at least 50 fake dating Oikawa fics so here’s my spin on that with Joshua lol. I was also half tempted to make Joshua like one of my friends, who, for some reason decided our senior year to join our school’s swim team that I didn’t even know we had lol while he was on the varsity soccer team but I decided against it for simplicity lmao

Wen Junhui: Racing Hearts and Skating to Love
Summary: Getting the chance to perform at an end of year celebration? Amazing! Having to perform a paired performance with Wen Junhui? Not amazing! Don’t get it twisted! You don’t hate Junhui, in fact it’s the opposite. You’ve been silently crushing on your fellow skater for months, and now you’re going to have to create and perform a paired program with him. Which of course meant having to spend weeks with him, and getting close to him to actually practice. But you can do this, it’s only for a few weeks, your heart can handle it. Hopefully it can, at least.
Warnings: cursing because I can’t help myself lol
Extra info: it’s never mentioned but it’s a uni au lol, reader wears contacts and glasses because I do too and I love Wen Junhui so next question lol and literally all my knowledge of ice skating comes from the time I was obsessed with Yuzuru Hanyu like a year or two ago so I apologize for the inaccuracies of the sport lol

Kwon Soonyoung:  Goal- Wait Watch Out!
Summary: Meet cute except it’s not cute and you probably have a concussion from the rogue soccer ball to the head. All you were trying to do was drop off your roommate's lunch since she forgot in the morning and now you’re being carried by a concerned goalie and your roommate treating you like one of her athletes. At least the goalie carrying you is cute?
Warnings: cursing since I can’t help myself, and of course injuries (a concussion) since that’s the plot lol
Extra info: uni setting, my knowledge is very limited on soccer and all that I do know comes from when my librarian would let me stay in the library while the cup was going on last year instead of making me go do errands for the teachers during my student aide period lol and putting Hoshi as goalie is most definitely brought on by Jeonghan’s monthly meeting pics of him as the goalie lol

Jeon Wonwoo: Scheming Love
Summary: When your coach told your team that you guys would play a skirmish against the boys volleyball team for fun, you felt your heart freeze. Now you weren’t scared of the boys team, you believe your team is fully capable of beating them in a game. No, what scares you is the fact that it means you have to play against Jeon Wonwoo, one of the middle blockers on the team. And your longtime crush. Normally you’re confident as a libero, doing your best to make sure your team’s defense’s on top and making sure the ball doesn’t touch the ground, but with Wonwoo on the court at the same time? Maybe you should start apologizing to your team now. Wait, why did they have a team huddle while you were helping the manager bring the water bottles? And why are they smiling at you like they’ve just made the greatest plan in the history of the world?
Warnings: cursing as usual, and threatening to strangle someone (as a joke lol)
Extra info: high school setting, reader wears glasses because I do too and I love Wonwoo lol. One of two fics that are fueled by my Haikyuu brainrot that’s coming back thanks to the movies and the new content that’s been coming out recently. Wonwoo as a middle blocker is brought on by this twitter artist that’s drawn Tsukishima in some Wonwoo stage outfits and that has caused me great pain I eat it up every time and reader being a libero is because that’s my favorite position lol

Lee Jihoon: Wait Where Are You Going? Come Back!
Summary: You really didn’t plan to watch your university’s baseball team play today, especially since it was so hot out and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky to provide some shade to hide under. But alas, your best friend insisted on dragging you along, wanting to watch her boyfriend play. Sure that’s fine and dandy, but why drag you along? At least the catcher’s cute, or what you can see of him on account of his mask. Wow, he's really muscular and is he giving Seokmin signs on how to pitch- wait why is your best friend and her boyfriend pushing the two of you after the game is over? And why are they running away? Oh, she’s gonna pay for this once you get through his conversation with the cute catcher.
Warnings: cursing as usual, and betrayal from your best friend and Seokmin lol
Extra info: uni setting, I’m like 85% sure Woozi said he used to play as catcher when he played baseball so that’s why he has this position. I don’t know anything about baseball besides one man named Shohei Ohtani and that getting hit with the ball hurts like hell (and all the injuries Dr. Mike on yt covered lol)

Lee Seokmin: Breaking News! Falling in Love is Scary!
Summary: Being part of your university’s blog and radio show is great, until you’re being forced out of the studio/office and out in the open to go interview the baseball team after a recent winning streak. Normally this job would get assigned to another team member, but after a recent bout of frat flu ravaging your crew, the interview is left up to you. Whatever, just get the answers to the prewritten questions you have and the sooner you can go back to the studio/office to work on other things. Or that was the plan before the pitcher, Lee Seokmin, took an interest in you and suddenly seemed to pop up everywhere around campus. Or aka, grumpy reporter x sunshine baseball player.
Warnings: cursing as per usual, and you being a hater for no reason lol
Extra info: uni setting, I don’t know much about baseball other than the fact that I would kill to see DK in a baseball uniform

Kim Mingyu: Red Bandage of Fate
Summary: When you joined the athletic team as a student trainer and got assigned to the university’s soccer team, you wondered if the team’s number 06, Kim Mingyu, the ace of the team and top scorer, was the same Kim Mingyu who basically lived in the training center, constantly in need of treatment for his never ending list of injuries. And please, slow down with the injuries, the center’s almost out of athletic tape and bandages, you’re begging him to please be more careful out on the field.
Warnings: cursing because I can’t help myself, and very obviously injuries (I’ll come back to be more specific with the injuries lol)
Extra info: uni setting, I’m taking an intro to athletic training class this sem so I know some stuff about treating athletes but again it’s intro class so beware if some things aren’t super accurate lol

Xu Minghao: Filmed Lovestory
Summary: When you agreed to help film your friend’s practice for an upcoming competition, you didn’t think much of it. You’ve done it thousands of times. Put on your skates, a couple of extra layers so you won’t freeze, use her phone to record her, and follow her out on the ice. It’s simple, really, and a great way to spend Saturdays while also getting some exercise in between your tiring uni life. What you didn’t expect is somehow to agree to film the practices of one of her skating friends. Her very handsome skating friend, you might add. So now your weekends are fully booked for the ice, but watching Minghao skate on the ice, it’s not so bad.
Warnings: cursing as per usual
Extra info: uni setting, as I mentioned with my Jun fic, all of my figure skating knowledge comes from the time I was obsessed with Yuzuru Hanyu like a year or two ago so again I apologize for the inaccuracies of the sport

Boo Seungkwan: Tangerines, Confessions and a Supply Closet
Summary: When you agreed to be the boys volleyball team’s manager, you didn’t think you’d spend your high school career taking care of the team. Yet, here you are, in your senior year and the only reason some of your players are even here (and why some of them are passing their classes, seriously signing up as a manager became a lot more than just handing out water bottles!). The only reason you’ve been able to stick around as long as you have is because of the team’s setter, Boo Seungkwan, who makes your job of wrangling the team a little easier. Now if only you could get the team off your back about confessing to him before the two of you graduate, that really would be great.
Warnings: cursing as per usual, threats to kill an entire volleyball team (all jokes), and getting locked in a supply closet
Extra info: high school setting, this is the second fic that is 100% fueled by my Haikyuu phase that is slowly coming back due to the movies and the new content that’s been coming out recently. And out of all the sports, this is the one I’m most knowledgeable in since I actually watch matches (shout out to Lim Sungjin and Heo Subong). Also I had such a hard time giving Seungkwan a sport since he does so much I decided on volleyball because the thought of him playing makes me want to bark so there’s that

Chwe (Vernon) Hansol: Quick, He’s Not Watching!
Summary: When your older brother told you to wait for him in the bleachers, promising to give you a ride after your night class, you didn’t think much of it. If you’re lucky, you’d be able to take a nap in the bleachers waiting for him. What you didn’t expect was to somehow catch the attention of one of the midfielders, Vernon. As you come around more and more often, you find the midfielder always making an effort to say hey to you, and even stealing some of the team’s snacks for you. Now you just wonder if he’ll make a move before your brother notices the two of you getting closer with each other.
Warnings: uni setting, cursing as per usual, and older protective brother that means well but doesn’t go about it the right way
Extra info: I deadass looked up what the positions in soccer are because I have no idea what goes on in the sport even though one of my friend’s played our entire high school career

Lee Chan: You’re Not Too Bad
Summary: You didn’t think that showing up to your best friend’s, Seokmin’s, baseball practices would make one of the players hate you, but here you are and apparently Lee Chan hates you. Or so you think at least. The rest of the team loves you, especially since you always bring them plenty of food to feed them throughout practice (it pays to be a nutrition major) and always try to help out even though you’re not an official manager. But it’s no biggie, it’s not like Chan hating you bothers you, nope, not at all. But maybe you’d skip out on stopping by Seokmin’s practice for the week… Yeah that sounds like a good idea.
Warnings: cursing as per usual, Chan being a bit of an asshole but it gets resolved don’t worry
Extra info: uni setting, Dino being assigned baseball is all because of the 231105 fansign where he was given a baseball jersey and glove, and I still don’t know how baseball works

The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes dir: Billy Wilder, 1970
Tumblr media
I only watched The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes for the first time a few days ago but it lights my brain up in that special way that I know I’ll revisit it a lot. Don’t get me wrong, it’s far from perfect, for one thing Colin Blakely’s Watson is a little too shouty for me, but it’s very worthwhile to check out despite its shortcomings, which I think mostly come from the fact that so much was cut from the intended script.
I absolutely love Robert Stephens as Holmes. His face is so good, he has a way of looking at Watson when he doesn’t know he’s being observed that is very soft. I thought I was hallucinating the beginning of this movie with Holmes telling the ballet dancer he’s gay and in a relationship with Watson. I thought it was going to be played for a joke, and it was a bit, but it didn’t just end there. Holmes and Watson have a conversation about the repercussions in a lengthy scene that turns very serious by the end. I can’t believe this was 1970 and no one has since tried to build on this specific dynamic in a more meaningful way. Someone needs to remake this into a mini-series exactly how Billy Wilder intended it to be, here’s hoping public domain can make it so.
Tumblr media
[above: script page from the cut story The Curious Case of the Upside Down Room, where Watson creates a fake case to make Holmes feel better]
Also, the backstory of the making of this film is so out of control: Robert Stephens’s nervous breakdown and suicide attempt during the production, the amount of years Billy Wilder was trying to write it and get it made, the interference of ACD’s son, the Loch Ness monster prop that the crew lost in actual Loch Ness, the immense scope of the episodic story they were going for, the way it got cut down from its original 3 hour 45 minute runtime and how that cut footage was lost forever! (this is crazy! everyone go check your attics and storage lockers right now).
In one of the interviews I found, Robert Stephens says “if something is boring — if it’s three minutes long it’s too long, but if it’s interesting it’s never long enough…you don’t want it to end.” Big same Toby Stephens’ dad, big SAME. I didn’t want it to end. I read the uncut script and I am just floored at what we missed out on. Thankfully some footage and audio remain of some of the cut scenes (but still! check your basements too).
Just fully let it settle into your brain that they filmed all of these stories in the script, and then cut most of it away. Like that is mind-blowing to me, it existed at one point as it was fully intended to be. If this was made now during home entertainment times, they would have no problem releasing an almost four-hour movie, but at the very least there would be a big director’s cut dvd release and we would be enjoying all the small Holmes x Watson moments we deserve.
Anyway, in pretty short order I found a bunch of interesting links to stuff, details below. I also consulted my very well-thumbed Conversations with Wilder book by Cameron Crowe, but there wasn’t that much more information in there. I have Robert Stephens’ memoir Knight Errant and the TPLOSH blu-ray on order so I’ll add to this post if I find any more good resources. Let me know if I’m missing anything, and enjoy!

HAIKYUU X THE OFFICE AU — EPISODE FOUR: OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY
Tumblr media
pairing: sugawara koushi x female reader
description: it’s the holidays, and that means it’s time for the annual office christmas party where everyone participates in secret santa. much to sugawara’s delight, he has picked your name for secret santa this year and plans to make it count.
word count: 5.6k
also available to read on my ao3 here
author’s note: hello and happy holidays! i will admit i’ve been struggling to stay motivated with this series, but i have to remind myself that i’m mainly writing this for MY enjoyment at the end of the day. i’m the ultimate sugawara warrior and it shall stay that way. anyway, it’s christmastime, so of course i’m writing a christmas episode! i strayed away from parts of the episode quite a bit. this definitely has more focus on sugawara than the reader this time around, but i’m not mad about it. it’s nice to see an angsty, pining suga 🤭 i almost thought this would have to be split into two parts, but i’d rather keep it as one. i also made a playlist for sugawara and the reader a good bit ago, so here’s the link here (i am very much open to song suggestions)! i’m so excited to get closer to my favorite episode ever, and i hope you guys enjoy!

christmas was always the best time of year for the office. the holiday spirit was at its peak, everyone loved being a part of it, especially your boss, ukai. he took christmas more seriously than everyone else, even kiyoko who primarily handled planning the annual office christmas party each year. ukai took it so seriously that he chopped his own tree and brought it to the office building, dragging tanaka along in his shenanigans towards festive greatness.
tanaka huffed and puffed as he let go of the bottom half of the tree, ukai holding the top half. “ukai, i don’t think it’s gonna fit.”
“that’s what she said.” ukai joked, resisting the urge to snicker. it was like he was a child in a grown man’s body. plus, that joke aged like milk. only he found it funny.
“no, like, it’s really not gonna fit.” tanaka said.
“again, that’s what she—”
“WE CAN’T FIT THE GODDAMN TREE THROUGH THE DOOR, UKAI!” he yelled at the top of his lungs, completely frustrated with his boss. you could hear tanaka from your desk inside the office, but it came out muffled, so you couldn’t quite make out what was being said. you assumed it was idiotic activities as always.
“i’ll make it fit.” ukai insisted, the spirit of christmas granting him all the determination he needed.
“lemme guess, you’re gonna say that’s what she said, right?” tanaka let out a sigh.
“don’t make me fire you, tanaka.” ukai threatened.
“should’ve just got a fake tree.” tanaka rolled his eyes. yeah, that definitely would’ve worked just fine, but this was ukai here. the man was crazy. he would never do anything the normal way.
“i guess that would’ve worked…” ukai said as he pondered over how he would get this tree through the door, quickly thinking of his idea of the best way to do it. “alright, on three, we’re gonna shove this through and hope for the best. got it?”
“i guess?” no. tanaka didn’t get it, but he had no choice.
“too bad. one… two… THREE!”
with one big push, ukai and tanaka burst through the doors of the office. the tree toppled to the floor, bringing them along with it. the sound startled just about everyone, having been doing their typical duties. to you, it just felt like any other day, and you didn’t bother to help the two men.
tanaka fell face first into the pile of pine, aggressively coughing as he wiped any pine needles off his face. “i think i swallowed a pine needle.”
“well, merry fucking christmas.” ukai said enthusiastically. he seriously needed to be scolded over his cursing.
“ukai!”

in the first time in, well, ever, suga was actually excited to be doing an interview for the documentary crew. why? because of this year’s secret santa.
“so this year, for the first time ever, i got finally y/n for secret santa. i’m pretty excited about it, and i really wanted to do something special for her, so i got her this teapot. as much coffee as she drinks here, y/n is way more of a tea person—i would know—so with this she can make tea at her desk.” suga said excitedly, showing off your gift for the camera.
“but i also stuffed it with some inside jokes, that’s what makes it so special, you know.” he continued, carefully digging through the teapot to show off said inside jokes. “like, this is my high school volleyball photo. she saw it fall out of my wallet on my first day here, and it really made her laugh. not sure why, but i’m letting her have it now.”
with the biggest grin on his face, suga dug through the teapot for more, pulling out a wasabi packet, but it wasn’t just any ordinary packet of wasabi. this had a story behind it, one that had meaning for suga.
“ooh. this is a wasabi packet. she put this on a hot dog a couple years ago because she thought it was relish.” he explained. “i thought it was really funny, so i kept the other two.”
after telling the wasabi story, suga held up a mini toy of a chili pepper with a kawaii face, but made a squeaking noise when someone squished it. poor sound guy jumped when it almost blasted his eardrums.
“this is actually a toy for dogs or babies or something, i don’t know.” suga shrugged. “but i saw it, it was cute, and it reminded me of awards night, so i thought; why not?”
but the most important gift of all—one that outsold everything in that teapot—was a card suga wrote just for you, detailing his feelings towards you all on paper. “and then, uh, this is a special card i wrote for y/n… because christmas is the time to tell people how you feel.”
oh, the documentary crew was going to eat this up.
•••
kiyoko and yachi were put up with the task of decorating for the party, forcing many of their coworkers to partake. they also had to deal with ukai’s hack job of a christmas tree. the two girls tried their best to salvage it, throwing as many ornaments and tinsel on it as possible, but it was a losing battle. it was just going to be an ugly tree, so they put the rest of their effort into decorating the conference room.
when it seemed like they were done with everything, kiyoko made her rounds, examining each decoration, but by the end, she wasn’t a fan. “i don’t like it.”
“you… don’t?” yachi questioned.
honestly, it was the perfect scene; red and green decorations perfectly put together, all strategically placed, but if kiyoko didn’t like it, then it simply meant that more work needed to be done.
“we need more lights.” kiyoko said. “i need someone tall.”
“count me out.” tsukishima, who sat down while drinking a soda, spoke up. he had been put through enough, he was tired of decorating.
“i wasn’t asking you, tsukki.” kiyoko rolled her eyes.
“only yamaguchi is allowed to call me that.” tsukishima said.
“whatever.” she scoffed. “uh, who’s super tall and buff…?”
kiyoko and yachi share a look. they instantly knew exactly who to find.
“asahi.” they say in unison.
not only were the two girls on the same page, they knew exactly how to rope asahi into this mess, and it was all up to yachi to get the job done. “asahi, help! i’m dying!”
“dying?! who’s dying?!” asahi bolted into the conference room, only to find no one was actually in trouble.
“i’m dying… for you to hang up these lights for us.” yachi said with a grin as she held up a roll of christmas lights.
he didn’t have much choice, so asahi let out a sigh before ultimately giving in. “okay…”
•••
“i found that asahi will do pretty much anything for me because he’s afraid i’ll be a scaredy cat around him again.” yachi spoke confidently to the camera while the party preparations were happening behind her. “he’d probably commit murder for me, who knows?”
asahi, who overheard her, yelled out in defense for himself. “that is NOT true!”
“keep hanging up those lights!” she yelled at asahi, who immediately went back to work, further solidifying her point. “see? he totally would. he’s the best.”
•••
right before the party was about to start, ukai exited his office dressed like santa. you immediately laugh and try to mask it with a cough, but ukai caught you anyways. “something funny, y/n?”
“yeah, you look ridiculous.” you snort, covering your mouth to muffle out your laughter.
“that’s the point. this party is supposed to be fun.” ukai said sassily. “i want everyone to let loose. i want this party to be reminiscent of my frat boy days.”
“you were in a frat? what was it called?” you ask him, intrigued to hear his answer.
“beta schmeta—” yeah, he wasn’t actually in a frat. “whatever. all i’m trying to say is i want everyone to get lit!”
you cringe at ukai’s use of outdated slang. “that is so seven years ago…”
“yeah, and i want it to happen anyway.” he said.
“your way of getting lit is drinking, and we’re not allowed to have liquor in the office, so...” you reply. you were always one to follow rules. well, for the most part, at least. it was hard to have any sort of structure at an office ran by someone like ukai.
“don’t… don’t remind me, dammit.” ukai cursed. “stupid corporate losers. like booze ever killed anybody.”
you always found your boss was painfully stupid at times, and this was definitely one of those times. but even so, you tried to combat it every time, always failing no matter what.
“but booze has killed—” you began to say.
“anyway!” he cut you off, tired of this conversation and ready to party. ukai then waved tanaka over to him so they could get the party started. “tanaka, let’s get this show on the road! announcement, everybody! listen to tanaka because he’s a better at yelling than me, as shown earlier when he yelled in my face!”
“yes, everybody listen up!” tanaka yelled out. “you better have your presents wrapped up and ready to go under the tree because we will not wait for you and you will be disqualified from secret santa! don’t be that guy! nobody likes to be that guy, so don’t be him!”
you let out a groan as you grab your present for secret santa from under your desk, eyeing the camera on your way to put it under the tree.
“please, don’t let this party suck ass.” you whisper to yourself. you hear tsukishima snicker behind you, an “ow!” soon following, assuming it was yamaguchi smacking him on the back of his head.
•••
“i love christmas. christmas is fun. it’s the best time of the year besides my birthday.” ukai said, still dressed like santa, knowing this would be seen on television one day. “why do i love christmas, you may ask? because i get free stuff, and who doesn’t love free stuff?”
•••
everyone gathered around the tree, placing their presents underneath. one could compare it to christmas morning with your family. some may argue that this office is like a family, while some may think otherwise, but regardless, it was nice for everyone to be together in harmony.
after daichi and tanaka argued over who would light up the tree—mainly because daichi didn’t trust him with outlets—tanaka was finally given the rein, or, well, extension cord.
“everybody ready?” he asked, a mix of nods and “uh-huh” in response.
“okay, and…” the tree is lit up, but it’s quite dim. “yikes.”
silence plagued the room. no one expected the lighting of the tree to be so anti-climatic, especially since the office makes such a big deal out of christmas every year. kiyoko practically wanted to die of embarrassment given she was responsible for the decorations, even if yachi was the one who brought in the lights from her apartment.
while no one said a word, you were the one to speak up, praising the tree for kiyoko and yachi’s sake. “well, i think the tree looks quite nice.”
“thanks, y/n, but you don’t have to lie.” yachi frowned.
“no, it’s a lovely tree.” ukai insisted. “let’s do secret santa now, okay? tanaka, pick who gets the first present.”
tanaka walked over to the tree and picked up a random present, reading who its intended for. “and it’s… tsukishima.”
“oh?” once handed the gift, tsukishima ripped away the wrapping paper to unveil a dinosaur plushie. much to everyone’s surprise, he was delighted by the gift. “aw, this is actually really nice.”
“oh, thank god.” nishinoya let out the biggest sigh of relief one could take. “that was from me.”
“wow, thanks, nishinoya.” tsukishima said with a smile. someone may as well pass out from shock now. christmas truly brought all types of miracles.
•••
“that is literally the nicest thing tsukishima will ever say to me!” nishinoya exclaimed. “i’m serious! i’ve officially peaked at life!”
•••
secret santa rolled along smoothly so far. suga ended up getting a card, which contained a twenty dollar bill inside, the limit for this year’s secret santa. kageyama claimed he didn’t know what to get, but suga wasn’t all too phased by it. who doesn’t like free money? besides, he was too eager for it to be your turn. luckily for him, it was happening right now.
“y/n, you’re next.” suga perked up once he heard your name, knowing your present would be from him.
you take the box from tanaka with a grin before opening up your gift. inside was the teapot suga spoke of to the documentary crew earlier, although you weren’t aware of its secret contents inside just yet, especially the card. you show off the teapot to your coworkers, and suga was notably the only one excited to see it in your hands. it made you wonder who your secret santa happened to be…
“wow, thank you very much, santa.” you say slyly. “whoever you are, you did good.”
“there’s a little more to it.” suga leaned over and said to you quietly.
oh. so your inkling of a suspicion was right, after all. now you were itching to see what was inside, but the office had to keep the show rolling, which completely distracted you from the anticipation.
“alright, next. asahi.” tanaka threw the present to asahi, which made ukai freak out.
“jesus, tanaka!” he yelled out. such a reaction instantly gave away that ukai was the one to get a gift for asahi. “easy, easy!”
moving on from ukai’s sudden outburst, asahi unwrapped his gift, shocked to see what was inside. “an ipad?”
yeah, ukai got asahi an ipad. asahi was just as shocked as everyone else, and he was the one to receive such a gift. clearly ukai felt he could bend the rules, but no one was happy about it, and it would surely be known soon enough.
“woah. wow. jeez. somebody really got carried away with the spirit of christmas...” ukai said, acting all nonchalant before he revealed himself as asahi’s secret santa, but everyone figures it out anyway. “that was me, i got a little carried away.”
“i don’t even know what to do with this…” asahi said to himself.
“ukai, you got way more than carried away.” you scolded your boss. “you spent god knows what on that thing! we had a limit!”
“okay, well, who cares?” ukai shrugged. “it doesn't matter what i spent. what matters is that christmas is fun, right?”
“it’s kind of unfair.” you cross your arms, but ukai could care less about your irritation, although everyone else was in agreement with you.
“whatever.” he rolled his eyes. “who’s next?”
“you are, ukai.” tanaka said.
“i am? great.” ukai was handed a small bag, opening it up and finding mittens inside, which he wasn’t happy about whatsoever. “really?”
“i knitted them myself…” yachi said shyly. she knew she should’ve knitted a scarf instead.
“mittens? pft, okay.” ukai then proceeded to walk out, confusing everyone.
“uh… did he just leave?”
•••
“these mittens? pathetic. i gave asahi an ipad for christ’s sake. i spent my hard earned money while yachi just did some fucking knitting.” ukai complained, unbothered by his cursing for the umpteenth time. “censor me, i don’t care!”
•••
left to their own devices, the employees of japan pulp and paper weren’t sure if they should continue secret santa without their boss. thankfully, ukai returned with a solution, although not a great one.
“i got it!” he burst through the office doors as if nothing happened. “we are going to turn secret santa into yankee swap.”
“what’s yankee swap?” suga questioned.
“one person chooses a gift, then the next person can either choose a gift or steal that person's gift. if your gift gets stolen, then you can steal somebody else's gift or choose a new gift.” ukai explained. it was confusing coming out of his mouth, but you were just going to roll with it anyway.
“yuck, why are we doing this?” tsukishima questioned, wanting absolutely no parts of ukai’s typical nonsense.
“because it's better, more special.” ukai replied. “duh.”
tsukishima wasn’t the only one who didn’t like this idea. kiyoko was practically fuming about it, especially since it spawned from ukai’s strong dislike towards yachi’s gift. “it’s mean, ukai. that’s what it is.”
“it’s not mean.” he said. kiyoko couldn’t believe how much of an ass he was being right now.
“yes, it is.” she argued. “you’re only doing this because you hate your present and you’re bitter yachi didn’t ball out for you like you did for asahi, which no one asked you to do, by the way.”
“no, it’s not.” ukai argued back. “just give it a shot.”
“i’d rather not, actually. i’ll be taking my present, which is…” kiyoko picked up a card with her name on it and opened it up. “a gift card for coffee. thanks, takeda. and whoever doesn’t want any part of this nonsense can take their gifts and hang with me in the conference room. yachi and i made sugar cookies and they’re very delicious.”
as kiyoko and yachi went to the conference for some real fun, suga followed, much to ukai’s surprise, including yours, although your boss was more vocal about it. “really, suga?”
“yeah, you guys have fun.” suga said before disappearing into the conference room.
“i’m coming too.” tsukishima stood up, clutching onto his new plushie. he couldn’t believe he and suga were on the same page for once. “for the sugar cookies, obviously.”
“yeah, okay.” suga snickered. well, not totally on the same page.
“shut up, sugawara.” tsukishima scoffed before dragging yamaguchi with him to the conference room.
as you watched suga leave with the others, part of you felt guilty. you wanted to follow him, but at the same time, you didn’t want to seem like a little puppy dog following its owner. besides, you were itching to get that ipad too. the teapot is just a teapot, right? you didn’t think there could be anything that special about it, but you couldn’t be more wrong right now.
•••
“why didn’t you opt out of yankee swap?” one of the crew members asked you, stirring the pot—or teapot—for the sake of the drama with suga.
“i don’t know. i thought it’d be fun.” you lie with a little shrug before revealing the whole truth. “plus, i kind of want to get the ipad. i can binge watch my shows with it while ryo hogs up the tv.”
this was totally ruining the crew’s spicy plans right now.
•••
while ukai’s yankee swap commenced, suga obsessively watched the events unravel from the conference room. he didn’t even try one of kiyoko and yachi’s sugar cookies yet. the man was a mess, hoping and praying that teapot wouldn’t fall into the wrong hands. it was meant for you and only you, why would you chance giving it up? suga knew it had to be the ipad. he never hated ukai more than he did right now for buying that stupid thing.
the others sat around quietly playing christmas music, snacking on cookies and chatting in the midst of suga’s lovelorn crisis. kiyoko decided to go talk to him and figure out what was up with him, but she had to do a bit of warming up first.
“hey, suga.” she said, forcing him out of his trance. “who did you get for secret santa?”
“oh, um, i got y/n.” suga replied.
to be honest, kiyoko was shocked that suga was capable was picking out something so sweet, but then again, this was suga. of course he would do that. “aw, cute. i really like that teapot.”
“i put little inside jokes inside the teapot.” he added. “plus, um, a really personal card.”
“saying…?” she raised an eyebrow.
“nothing. it’s not important.” suga shook his head. such a terrible lie.
“i think it is, sugawara.” kiyoko said.
suga hated how kiyoko was catching up to him. why did he have to mention that the card was really personal? it was more than just personal, the poor sap poured his feelings out to you in that card. he read it over a dozen times, making sure there were no spelling or grammar mistakes whatsoever. his brain felt like mush by the time he felt the card had reached its best version. this gift had to be perfect, but it never stood a chance at being that way, it seemed.
he had to get the attention off his back before kiyoko fully got the picture of the gift’s important, and thankfully, he knew exactly where to push her buttons. as suga once said, manipulation at its finest.
“shouldn’t you be worried about tanaka giving up the gift you got him?” he questioned. yeah, he heard a little bit from the grapevine about that.
“how did you know?” kiyoko gasped. she knew someone had to snitch. “yachi, was it you?!”
“no, never!” yachi exclaimed.
“actually, daichi told me.” suga smirked.
“that bitch.” kiyoko cursed. it was one more reason to want to slap the shit out of daichi. “whatever. i don’t care what he does with my gift anyway…”
suga let out a chuckle knowing kiyoko was playing off her crush on tanaka—one that was much more innocent than how he felt about you, an engaged woman—but his laughter quickly faded when he looked back at what was going on outside. “oh no.”
“oh no, what?” kiyoko questioned.
“hinata has the teapot.” suga replied. he then let out a loud groan, one that caught the attention of tsukishima who was trying to figure out why suga was acting more of a weirdo than usual.
“oh god, he’ll break it.” yachi said with a quiet gasp.
“i can’t watch.” suga turned away, covering his face with his hands. this was too painful for him to bear.
“y/n took the ipad.” kiyoko spoke up. as if hearing that made this any better.
“please don’t commentate like it’s a football game, kiyoko.” suga whined.
“sorry…”
tsukishima furrowed his eyebrows as he watched suga wail in agony, then gave a look to the camera. he had a weird feeling about this.
•••
“i’m just going to throw a theory out there.” tsukishima said plainly. “you don’t have to say anything, but i can read your faces. sugawara has feelings for y/n, doesn’t he?”
the documentary crew was unsure how to respond, but tsukishima guessed it right instantly. they knew, one by one, slowly but surely, the whole office would figure it out.
“that’s what i thought.”
•••
yankee swap continued, and it only got worse from there. your teapot was passed around like a hot potato, and it was torturous for suga to watch it all unfold. the sparkling cider kiyoko brought just wasn’t sparkling enough for him to dull this soul-sucking ache in his heart.
“i have to get that teapot back.” suga said. “if y/n doesn’t want it, then no one else should have it…”
it’s true. not even because of the card, but because it was specifically catered for you. outside it was just a teapot, but inside was a plethora of memories from your years of friendship. suga may be hopelessly in love with you, but your friendship meant the world to him at the end of the day.
“that’s…” yamaguchi paused. there was only one way to describe this. “really depressing.”
“it’s cause he has feelings for her.” tsukishima blurted out. everyone turned and looked at him in shock. did he really just say that right now?
“do not!” suga protested.
this was suga’s worst nightmare. was it always obvious? did anyone else know? did you know already? the questions swirled in his head a mile a minute. he was absolutely freaking out. from you giving up the teapot to this fiasco, the holidays simply couldn’t get any worse for suga. he just couldn’t catch a break, it seemed.
“ha, you so do! i figured you out, sugawara. you’re in love with y/n.” tsukishima smirked, almost finding joy in his suffering. actually, he found joy in everyone’s suffering, so this wasn’t much different, but since it was suga, he found it much more thrilling.
“what do you want? money?” suga asked desperately. it was the only solution he could think of so this secret wouldn’t spill anywhere else.
and since he mentioned it, tsukishima wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity. “yeah, gimme that twenty kageyama gave you.”
“suga, wait.” kiyoko stopped him. “do you really have feelings for y/n?”
ignoring her question, suga quickly handed the money to tsukishima. kiyoko couldn’t believe it. he really did have feelings for you, and now everyone in the room knew it. “oh my god…”
“this secret doesn’t leave this room.” suga demanded. he bought tsukishima’s silence, but luckily for him, everyone else didn’t need to be convinced with money. at least he hoped so...
now that he got that out of the way, suga checked in to see what was going on at the party, and it seemed like yankee swap had ended. worst of all, your teapot was nowhere in his sight. “wait, they’re dispersing. why are they dispersing?”
“ukai probably did something stupid and ruined the party even more.” tsukishima scoffed.
“who has the teapot? who has it?!” suga asked frantically like a madman.
“i think i see tanaka with it.” yachi said, pointing to him with what seemed like the teapot in his possession. it was worse than hinata having it, honestly, and suga needed it back now.
“NO!”
suga bolted out of the conference room, scanning the office floor to find tanaka. however, you walk up to him, holding the ipad in your hands. “hey! ukai left to get booze. he said screw the rules, i guess.”
“oh, really?” he asked. “great. i’ll need it.”
“yankee swap was kinda chaotic, but look who came out on top?” you say excitedly, showing him your new gift.
“that’s nice.” suga said quickly so he could get back to his mission. “uh, where’s tanaka?”
“break room.” you reply.
“great, thanks.” suga swiftly walked past you, abruptly ending your conversation. you found it a little odd, but ended up shrugging it off and heading back to your desk.
in a flash, suga walked into the break room, finding tanaka right where he needed him. “hey, tanaka. i need to talk to you. it’s about the teapot.”
“nuh-uh.” tanaka shook his head. he knew exactly what suga was up to, but he didn’t quite know the reason why, he just knew suga wanted that teapot. “don’t even, suga. this is mine.”
“really?” suga sighed. he had to get it back, someway, somehow. “look, it has sentimental value, tanaka. can i buy it from you? i’m willing to pay a lot.”
“no. i want it. i'm going to use it.” tanaka held it close to his chest like it was a baby.
“you don't even drink tea.” suga said.
“true.” tanaka shrugged. “but it lowkey looks like i could make a bong out of it.”
oh god. this was definitely way worse than hinata having the teapot.
•••
“to think that my gift for y/n will be used for that…” suga began to say, taking a deep breath, almost overcome with emotion. “it’s just too much for me.”
•••
suga walked out of the break room, absolutely defeated he couldn’t get the teapot back. even worse, he found you showing off your new gift to ryo, crushing him even more. despite the pang in his heart, suga couldn’t help but overhear your conversation.
“this is awesome.” he heard ryo say.
“i know.” you reply. “look at the quality on this thing. i can watch stuff in 4k on this.”
“yeah, i was gonna get you one of these for christmas, but now i don't have to since you got one for free.” he said happily, thrilled at the thought of not having to spend that much money on you. it made suga want to barf. “i'm gonna save a ton of money.”
“so what are you going to get me instead?” you ask him.
“i don't know. probably like, an ugly sweater or something.” ryo shrugged.
you look to the camera in disgust before their attention turned to ukai coming back to the office with bottles of alcohol. as if you needed more of that in your life after what happened last time you drank.
“ho, ho, ho!” ukai greeted everyone, on theme with his silly outfit. “santa has come with spirits, as in booze.”
“we’re really not supposed to serve alcohol, ukai…” takeda said, trying to keep his job by the end of the day.
“no one cares, specs.” ukai scoffed, typical when it came to talking to takeda. “it’s a party and it’s christmas! if i can't throw a good party for my employees, then i’m the worst boss ever, and that contradicts with my world’s best boss awards! so, who wants a drink?”
practically everyone raised their hands instantly.
•••
“if i’ve learned anything from my time at japan pulp and paper, it’s that alcohol solves all your problems.” ukai grinned. what terrible advice, the crew thought. “everyone’s having a good time, and why is that? alcohol. i’m such a good influence!”
•••
despite the whole secret santa fiasco, everyone seemed to be having a good time. at least now you could all have fun, even if it was with the help of alcohol. well, plus the food too. that too always helped.
while christmas music blared and many of your coworkers danced on the office floor, suga found you sitting behind your desk, wondering why you weren’t partaking in the festive shenanigans.
“you know, you don't have to answer calls during a party.” he said cheekily. “just thought you should know.”
“oh, i know.” you say, revealing the teapot to suga, showing that it was now yours once again. “i was just checking out my new teapot here.”
“what?” suga gasped. “but how?”
“well, it ended up with nishinoya after tanaka traded it for kiyoko’s gift, so i didn’t have to do much convincing to get it back.” you explained to him. “i figured, you know, letting it go was really stupid of me because what should matter most is that the gift is from you, so i went to get it back. i hope you’re not mad at me...”
it was a christmas miracle for suga, even if you simply just made a trade with nishinoya. of course he would give it up for the ipad. thank god he did, and thank god you were willing to let go of such a lucrative gift for one made with love instead. words couldn’t describe the relief suga felt right now.
“i’m glad, actually. and not to be totally biased right now, but this is an amazing gift because it comes with bonus gifts.” suga said. “look inside.”
suga’s reassurance put you at ease, and as directed, you look inside the teapot, pulling out his infamous volleyball photo. you had never been so happy to have that teapot. if only you knew before. “oh my god. no way.”
•••
you proudly hold up your teapot for the documentary crew, a huge grin on your face, one that only suga could bring out of you. “yeah, i think i made the right choice.”
•••
you looked through the rest of the contents in the teapot, and while you weren’t looking, suga stole the card he wrote back and shoved it in his pocket. he just couldn’t bring himself to let you read it. maybe someday, but not today. the timing is just wrong.
“is this a chili pepper?” you ask as you hold up the toy.
“yeah, cause you’re banned from chili’s. look, it makes noises.” suga squeezed the chili pepper, accidentally ghosting his fingers over yours, and you jump from the squeaking sound coming out of the chili pepper toy. totally not from his soft touch either.
you felt like an idiot for giving this up before. it helped you learn to not judge a book by its cover. you knew that’s something you learn as a kid, but sometimes you have to learn something all over again as an adult. at least you came to your senses. there was still so much for you to figure out.
“you’ve outdone yourself, suga.” you smile and look into suga’s eyes.
“it’s about time i got you for secret santa.” suga replied. god, why did you have to be so beautiful?
“yeah, it really has.“ you say, holding your gaze before gulping when you think you’ve been staring at him for too long. little did you know, he wouldn’t have minded looking into your eyes a little longer. “merry christmas, suga.”
if suga has learned anything about christmas, it’s that it’s definitely not the time to tell people how you feel. he knew that now, no matter how much it hurt. in his eyes, if you had to take some time to come around to fully accepting the teapot, then you had to take your time accepting a life without ryo, potentially in favor for a life with him instead. the only question now was when? it was only a matter of time before suga will grow impatient.
sometimes suga felt like he was better off shoving his feelings down his throat, and you felt the same way. what you have is beautifully complicated, but suga swore that one day he’d tell you how he felt. it just had to be the perfect time.
“merry christmas, y/n.”

[ series in the making ]
“what? you deaf or something?” bakugo asked, practically snarling as he raised a brow.
bakugo had pulled you to the side as soon as everyone was dismissed, which caught you off guard considering how you never interacting with the angry boy before.
you didn’t want to.
"why on earth would I want to date you?"
"oh don't flatter yourself," he huffed with squinted eyes, "there's just this crazy extra that's been obsessed with my ass since the beginning of the school year, i need her to think i'm already dating someone so she'll back off."
"also, it's not going to be an actual relationship, it'll all be fake until I get her off me."
"why me though? why not ochako or mina?" you suggested, wanting nothing more than to drop this conversation and go on with your life, "we don't even talk to each other."
he rolled his eyes in annoyance, crimson orbs coming back to bore into yours as he huffed once again.
"maybe because you don’t actually get on my nerves like all the other quirkless losers,” he shrugs.
“plus, you aren’t unattractive.”
“thanks, katsuki,” you scoff, “you really know how to make a woman blush.”
bakugo wasn’t ugly, far from it. he was the most beautiful man you’ve ever seen.
but his personality was like a rotten taste in your mouth. he was cruel, and stuck up, and didn’t care about anyone but himself.
“it’s bakugo, you extra” he snapped before letting out a groan, “so, is that a yes or a no? it’s not like you have guys lining up at your door.”
“oh fuck you,” you scoffed, “go find someone else.”
you were about to turn away and forget this conversation ever happened until three odd words left his mouth.
“what about todoroki?”
your head snapped in his direction and your mouth went slack, “what the hell are you on about, bakugo?”
he let out a deep chuckle, eyes squinting and teeth showing in a smirk that made a shiver run down your spine.
“remember a few days ago you were talking to your girlfriends about how ‘dreamy’ and ‘hunky’ todoroki was?” he teased, reaching into his pocket to then pull out his phone and wiggle it in the air.
“well it smelled like perfect blackmail to me, so, i recorded it.”
your fingers curled into fists as you let out a scoff, not believing what the crazy blonde was saying.
“you’re an actual asshole, bakugo.”
“oh i know i am,” he barked out a laugh before shoving his phone back into his pocket, “that’s why you should just agree so i don’t have to go through all this work in showing ice face the recording and then you dealing with the after math..”
“okay! just, shut up!” you whisper yelled, quickly looking around to see if anyone was nearby.
god you hated this boy.
"one month of this fake relationship deal, okay?" you said, not wanting this to drag out.
you watched him smirk, licking his bottom lip before nodding his head, "that's all i need. one month."
"one month."

Chapter 1: Maid of Honor
Message from Jess at 10:23 AM Hey, Y/n! The girls and I are getting together for some brunch today! There's a chair with your name on it! Your response at 10:26 AM God, that sounds amazing! Just that my boyfriend and I already have plans for lunch :( Message from Jess at 10:28 AM That's okay! We have to meet up soon! I miss you girly! Your response at 10:30 AM I miss you too :(
Sometimes you felt bad doing all this lying, but it wasn't like it was harming anyone. You just didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. Truth was... you couldn't find the motive to leave your house. Sure, it seemed unhealthy not to want to leave your home. However, you honestly just... you couldn't bare it. So, you made up the excuse that you had a boyfriend. But Y/n, don't you have a job? Of course, you had a job. You were just lucky enough to work from home.
You often times blamed it on your major depressive disorder. Now, it has calmed down over the years since you were first diagnosed with it. However, every day it still felt like a chain that kept you home. The only times you left were when your sister forced you out of the house. She couldn't always do that though. She lived in a different state, and honestly, you didn't blame her. California could get a bit crazy. Especially with all of these wannabe influencers.
With that being said. You used the boyfriend excuse plenty of times. In fact, you pretty much lost count. Now, this is a very normal excuse, especially when you have plans already with them... So, no one would question it. Yet, the only issue was... it was all a lie. You didn't have a boyfriend. Like hell! You couldn't even leave your damn house. How in hell would you get a boyfriend? Exactly, you couldn't.
Four years ago you hit the darkest moment of your life. The lowest of the low, and you kept it to yourself. You only really felt happy with you were with your family members. Four years is how long you've been using that goddamn excuse. You were diagnosed three and a half years ago. You went to your doctor, who sent you to a therapist who gave you the news. You met with them about once a week. So... once a week for three and a half years. That's... four times a month... which is forty-eight times a year... then 144 for three years... Plus twenty-four... that's... you've met with your therapist so far 168 times.
The major question is... did it help? Yes, for the most part, it did. For the most part, you knew that you had to work on it yourself. Which you have been. Your therapist suggested making a video diary a week. Sitting down and just going over everything that happened that week and how you felt. It was nice, and they held their home on your laptop. You haven't... you haven't reached that sense of content enough to go back and watch them.
As you stepped out of your shower, you wrapped a towel around your body. You had to make a video diary today, and you knew that you should wait till the end of the day... But the start of the week was Sunday, and so was the end of the week. You always recorded these things on Sundays... it just... it just worked. You grabbed a free towel and started to dry your hair, as the familiar tone of your ringer went off.
With curiosity in your mind, you made your way over to your bedroom where your phone rested. Flipping it over you heard your sister's name and smiled. You answered the phone and quickly put it on speaker.
"Is that Amelia Mignonette Grimaldi Thermopolis Renaldo princess and heir to the throne of Genovia?" You teased as you answered the call. You could hear your sister's laugh from the other end. You smiled and pressed forward with drying your hair.
"Right, Y/n," she continued to laugh, "I have a question for you."
"Hit me," you encouraged her to go on. You looked in the mirror at your messy wet hair and tossed the towel into your bathroom. You'll pick that up once you're off the call.
"So, as you know I'm getting married in a couple of months. Three months exactly, and this may be last minute... But I have a huge huge huge question." She reminded you. Ah yes, your sister met her fiance Nicholas... yes you heard that right. He may very much be Nicholas Deveraux. You were very much all for Mia and Nicholas ending up together in that movie.
"Yes, of course, you would never forgive me if I forgot." You reminded her as you started to dig through your drawers. You just needed your comfy sweats and long-sleeved crewneck.
"I wanted to ask... if you could be my maid of honor...?" You gasped lightly and ran to your phone.
"No way! I would love to!" You heard your sister eeeee at your response. You found yourself joining her as you picked up the phone and pressed it against her ear. "I would be honored."
"This is great news, Y/n! Oh my gosh, oh! And bring your boyfriend! Everyone is dying to meet him, and not to mention... Nic would be very honored if he would be his best man." Your mouth gapped open, and your eyes widened. Did you hear that right? Someone wanted your imaginary boyfriend to be their best man?
"B-best man? I-I mean aren't they supposed to be a relative or a friend? Not a complete stranger?" You struggled to get your words out. Well, you struggled in general. You felt your heart just about to stop at any moment.
"Well, Nic and I talked, and we knew you would find a way to excuse your boyfriend from coming... This way, we knew he would feel bad. So, yes... Nic wants your boyfriend as his best man." She explained. This was that moment you were scared of. The moment that would give out you... This was the moment. FUCK.
"Okay yeah... that works... Yeah... When do we have to be there?" You asked. You were honestly hoping she would say a week before the wedding. Because then that would give you plenty of time to find someone to be your fake boyfriend.
"Well, I want your help during this whole time... And I know you work from home so that's amazing. Maybe in a week or two? Bring your boyfriend as well. We all need to get to know him, and this is the perfect time to do it." With every word that came out of her mouth, the more you felt a weight on your chest. It got harder to breathe and honestly all you wanted to do... was... well... you wanted to disappear.
"R-right well... I will see you then... Bye! Love you!" And you quickly hung up. You placed your phone down and immediately got under your sheets. You pulled them up and over your head and closed your eyes. Think of a better place. A place where you never made the boyfriend excuse. A place where you are happy... Go there... Go there.
Now, your sister always brought you happiness. She never pushed you or even laid out her troubles on you. Your brother was the same way. Your family was a very caring and loving family. They also respected everyone's privacy. So, when it came to them finding out about your boyfriend... They didn't push. They pushed a few times, but that's because you never even gave them a name. You couldn't even think of a name for your imaginary boyfriend! Maybe it was because you knew this would happen.
Yet, every holiday... they would ask you to bring your boyfriend. You would always decline and say that he couldn't make it due to prior engagements... or that he was simply sick. You never shared anything more about your said boyfriend. Sure, it looked a bit suspicious... but they respected you and you appreciated that.
After you found yourself, you got out of your bed. You made your bed and moved over to your desk. You sat down with a huff and lifted open your laptop. You pulled open the video recorder and started to record. You picked at your nails and bit at them, a habit you picked up on. It wasn't that it was out of nerves... it was more or less... it was your fidget.
"I received some bad news today... Well, bad for me..." You let out a breath and turned to look into the camera. You never spoke about your 'boyfriend' on a video before. Your therapist was the only one who would see these, so it wasn't like you were showing it to all your friends and family.
"As you know, my sister Mia got engaged a while back and she asked me to be her maid of honor. I was... well... I was honored," you chuckled lightly at your terrible joke. "Which is great news, don't get me wrong... but... she and her fiance, Nic, have decided to have my boyfriend as the best man."
"I never spoke about him before and it's quite literally because he is a lie. I made him up four years ago as an excuse to get out of things. And, I just kept using that excuse over and over again that everyone thinks I have this mysterious boyfriend that I don't like talking about." You started to ramble on.
"I'm supposed to leave in a week or two with my boyfriend to go back home. The only problem is... I have no boyfriend. So, now what? I ask my male friends, whom I have used the very same excuse on. No. It just wouldn't work. I made this excuse up so that I wouldn't have to explain to my friends why I don't want to hang out." You pulled out your phone and started to look through your contacts.
"Mike is gay... and has had the excuse used on him. Liam, John, Cody, some of these guys are just taken. Yet, I have all used the same excuse on. There's just no way I could ring one up and explain to them why I lied to them and all our friends." You paused as your eyes found a name that you haven't spoken to in a long time.
Austin Butler. You first met him when you first moved to California. He was the absolute kindest man you have ever met. He was actually your neighbor who lived right across the hall. You two haven't spoken in a long time. In fact, over four years ago, so in theory... You have never used the boyfriend excuse on him. Then again... sparking up a conversation with him after so long would be weird... What if he had a girlfriend? He had one when you met him... What makes you think he isn't in that same relationship?
"Austin Butler... he's one I haven't used it on... He's one I haven't talked to in so long... I mean... Hell... I don't even know what happened between us. It wasn't like it was some big falling out. We just got busy, and we stopped texting... stopped calling, and eventually, we stopped hanging out." You started to speak aloud.
"I moved to California a little over six years ago. I was just twenty-one... I had just gotten a job as a physiological criminal analyst. Which, is a job I still have today. I've talked about it a bit, but... I basically analyze people. See, why they have committed the crimes. I listen to tapes, and I read transcripts. All work is easy to do remotely. If there is a big case, then I have to go in person and meet with them personally. You catch the drift."
"Austin lived right across the hall from me. We met the first day I was moving in, and he offered to help carry my things to my apartment. He is such a nice guy. We got everything inside, we had some water and talked. I learned that he is an actor. We exchanged numbers and he left. We started to text continuously, and eventually, I met his girlfriend Vanessa. She seemed very nice, and honestly... God, she was hot. I may be straight, but I can appreciate a woman when I see one."
"He moved out roughly... a year and a half after we met. We still talked after he met, but without that... running into each other in the halls... we talked less and less as time went on. Till we eventually stopped talking. I thought about texting him a bit afterward, but all thought of that left the door soon after. I don't know, it just wouldn't feel right to text him just because I need him for a favor. It just sounds wrong."
You placed your phone down on the desk and looked out your floor-to-ceiling window. You let out a breath and thought about what you could do. Maybe you could just tell the truth... but that would just mess up your sister's wedding. Your fake boyfriend is supposed to be the best man. If there is no fake boyfriend, then there is no best man.
"Do you think someone on Tinder would be willing to go along with it?" You asked no one in particular. You knew the chances of that were very slim unless you somehow found the right guy... but you also knew that you were going to have to kiss this said fake boyfriend. So, it had to be someone you knew and were comfortable with, but goddamn you really did not want to both Austin. You turned back towards the camera and smiled softly.
"Besides this whole deal happening just now... my week was fine, and I need to go. I only have so long until I have to figure this out." You said and ended the recording. You titled it the day's date and sent it off to your therapist. You closed the laptop and picked up your phone once more.
You stood up and pulled up Austin's contact. You took a big gulp and pressed the call button. You placed it against your ear and stood up. You wrapped your arm around yourself and started to walk around the apartment. The pacing was something that... somehow eased you. Yes, quite weird, but you felt that if you kept moving nothing could affect you as much. Not to mention, you felt like curling up in a ball and crying. You didn't even know if Austin still had your number... it is very likely he would've just deleted it and forgotten all about you.
"Y/n?" You heard his voice. You felt your body stiffen. You weren't exactly expecting him to pick up. Let alone remember you!
"Austin... hey."

I used to watch Suits with my roommate at uni, and she gave me bad vibes while watching her act, she's just so dark, and I quit the show as her role became bigger, she's so off putting. I did not follow her, so next I heard about her is when she started dating Harry, and again, bad vibes, especially the wedding. To be honest, I never liked Harry, everything about him was always so fake, he gave me crazy vibes like his mum (I know she's dead, and I'm sorry, but that lady wasn't right). I hope this makes sense, my english isn't the best, but both MM and Harry creep me out, and always did. Nothing they did after the wedding surprised me, they are exactly the kind of people to act that way.
So when it came out I started watching it. I actually quit watching it when her and "Mike's" romance started heating up and he had a girlfriend. Plus by that point I was over the whole premise of the series. I found the characters, except Donna, to all be pretentious assholes and the acting to be above average.
William inherited all of the good from Diana and Harry got all of her bad.
Harry was spoiled rotten and used to getting his way through whining or manipulation or threats. That type of behavior always shows through.

Thank you!
In my opinion, it looks super absurd and fake, like all these TB fantasies about Helaena hating her family. Considering that the black team likes to speculate on the topic "Alicent should have married Helaena to Jace and then there would have been no war"... That's just their rhetoric, yes. Plus, I absolutely don't believe that after the blacks killed her child, whom she certainly loves, she'll think about how great it would be to be on Rhaenyra's side.
If in some incredible way it turns out to be true, this series will reach a new level of craziness, but I really don't believe it.

When you got home from that mind boggling day at work, you were met with worried faces and smothered with hugs from Betts and Jaz and you happily returned them, and then went on to smother your daughter with hugs and kisses out of relief, claiming that you ‘just missed her so much’ after a long day.
Obviously, due to the incident that occurred at the company, work was out of the question for the next few weeks until police could conduct further investigation, or so you were told. Everyone was still very shaken up about it, including yourself, so a few days off were accommodating gesture from the company. The next few days leading up to the following week were mostly spent at home, either leaving to drop Ava off at school or running out to get some groceries.
Regardless of the days off from work, that most would find relaxing and enjoying, you were on edge. Sleep didn’t find you easily for the next few nights, your nights and days were mostly spent thinking about the man you and Billy had encountered. You couldn’t get it off your mind, even when you tried distracting yourself. Maybe Billy was right, that the man was just lying to save himself from the highly unnecessary assault. It was the only thing you could think about.
And what happened after with Billy.
“-And then, after I thanked him, he tried to kiss me! Or at least I think that’s where it was going,” You exclaimed, standing by the kitchen entrance, replaying the events of that crazy day to Jaz, who was moving around the kitchen, in search of something to eat. “And he might get called in to give a statement the same time me so, yay me,” You fake cheered.
“The nerve of him,” Jaz scoffs and shakes her head, disapprovingly. “I’ll remind you, that we can still-“
“I’m going to again, decline vandalizing anything of Billy’s in advance, because I know what you’re about to say.”
“Okay I mean, fine, whatever,” Jaz said, as she threw her hands up in defeat. “I still think you should reconsider though.”
“Thanks for the offer, but still no.”
"Ughhh," jaz loudly let out what might've been her hundredth groan of the morning since walking into the kitchen, "I'm so hungry."
"Why don't you just make something? Or eat some cereal? We have more than enough." You added, referring to the endless amount of groceries you had time to get in the previous weeks.
"I know, but I'm so lazy.” She dragged out. “ I'd have to reach a bowl... then get the milk.., and then pour that milk in that bowl that I worked so hard to reach for,” she exaggerated, and opened the fridge, to dig into it looking for anything she could find. "it's just too much. Plus, today is not that kinda day. It's a 'spend all day on the couch' kinda day.”Jaz hums as she closed the refrigerator door, signaling that she found something, and pulls out a slice of pizza, biting into it.
“Hey, it’s pretty quiet this morning. Where’s Ava?” She asked, taking a large distracting bite of her pizza.
“Oh, Betts took her to this children’s, book reading thing, all day. They left pretty early.”
Jaz hums in return, taking another distracting bite of her pizza, before scarfing it down with a glass of water, making you narrow your eyes at her.
"Isn't it a bit too early to be eating pizza? It's 10am." You questioned.
She answered, with her mouth full. "Maybe.., but you have to ask yourself, do stomachs have open and closing times like a store does?"
You thought about her comment for a second, finding some truth. "Huh," you whispered to yourself in thought, "I guess I never thought of it that way." Jaz grinned, proud that she may have convinced you to agree with her.
Just then, you heard your phone ring, and when you’d picked up, it was someone from the station.
You got a call from an agent named, Dinah Madani, a name you hadn’t heard before, and you sounded confused on the phone, because on that crazy day after work, you’d had a conversation with a Sergeant Mahoney, who you told you that he would be contacting you. But you didn’t read further into over the phone, and agreed to go in to the address that was given to you. Just when you grabbed your coat and we’re about to leave, you got an out of character offer, from your best friend.
Yo
“…you, Jazmyn Carrera, want to give up your Saturday, to spent it at the police station?” You narrowed your eyes and specified, in a bewildering tone. “What happened to your ‘spend all day on the couch’ thing you had going on?
She shrugged, like it made all the sense in the world. “They’ll be other Saturdays.” She voiced, running to grab her coat and returning to the door, “Yeah I’ll…, keep you company.”
“Um…okay, sure, yeah. I guess I could use the company.”
She muttered a small ‘great’ and passed you, as you stood there for a few seconds, still puzzled, before brushing it off and walking to the door. Jaz noticed the puzzled look on your face, and turned to reassure you.
“Don’t worry, I think most of the warrants the cops have on me have already been recalled or settled in court of law, so we’re fine,” She shrugged, and patted your shoulder, before walking out of the apartment, and you followed behind, hoping that she was joking.
Taking the subway was something you had to again, plug into your routine recently, still not having found your car keys. You were still bummed about it, and you’d informed the police, and hoped that maybe if they found something they’d contact you about it, but it had been over a week now, and you still hadn’t gotten any word that they’d found it. During the train ride though, you found you were correct about how bizarre it was that Jaz wanted to tag along, because she spent the entire 15 minutes trying to convince you to agree with her.
“-Just think about it,” Jaz said, as you both walked up the stairs, and out of the entrance of the subway.
“Jaz,” you stop walking and face her, “we’re not egging his car.” You continue walking and she speeds up to keep her pace beside you.
“Okay, I get it. You don’t wanna use eggs, that’s fine, I mean prices aren’t what they used to be, I know. But I gave you other options, like-like glitter bombing.” She holds out her hand, and uses her fingers to count her points. “It’s fast, it’s cheap-“
“We’re not glitter bombing it either!” You interrupt, and stop walking again to face her. “Is this the reason why you wanted to come? To convince me to agree?”
She gives you an obviously fake confused look before shaking her head. “Mm, I don’t what you’re talking about…” she trailed off, before beginning to walk away.
“Jaz I know you, okay,” You reminded her and stopped her from walking again, “when have you ever went into a police station, willingly?
For as long as you knew Jaz, she was always the kind of person to never forgive or forget. She was a someone who held grudges, even if they weren’t her own, which was her own way of showing that she cared, and that she had your back. When Billy left, Jaz was by your side the whole time. She was there for all those long days and sleepless nights.
She was there when you found out you were pregnant with Ava.
You understood her anger. She was angry for you.
“Huh, maybe I did kinda give myself away,” she tilts her head and thinks to herself, before continuing, “but he deserves it! A hundred times over too.” You nod in agreement, and she continued.
“For ripping your heart out, stomping on it, playing whack-a-mole with it, then blonde voyaging right out of your life!” She articulated, throwing her hands up in an angry gesture.
Puzzled, you corrected her. “It’s bon voyage, and that’s not how you use that in a sentence.”
“It’s not blonde?-whatever- I’m just saying,” a stern expression paints her face, and she sighs, “ I remember what it was like for you after Billy left, okay. It was hell, okay?”
“Jaz,” you sighed, “you’re right, it was a very, very shitty time for me, and thank you for hating him right along with me,” you started walking again and put your hand on her shoulder, “even though it is very tempting…, it won’t fix anything.”
You could tell that Jaz didn’t like your answer, but she eventually accepted. “Okay,” she sighed and crossed her arms, “if you don’t want me to, then I won’t.”
“Thank you,” you said. “I really do appreciate the sentiment though.”
“Did he ever tell you where the hell he’s been anyway? Or why he just, disappeared? I mean, what you guys had…, that shit, was love, if I’d ever seen it.”
You looked down at the ground at that, your mood shifting due to the reminder.
“He used to make you, so happy,- like I used to catch smiling to yourself, and you used to practically click your heels whenever-“
“Okay, that’s a lie, I would not click my heels,” you corrected, holding out your hands, “and…I  didn’t really ask him, but he said that it was ‘complicated,’ whatever that means,” you scoffed. “ it was just him trying to make up an excuse, and not face up to what he did, ‘cause the damage he left was right in his face. ”
Jaz watched you sympathetically as you spoke. “I wish I had an answer for Ava- I wish I had an answer for myself, one that hurt less than the truth anyway…”  you trailed off and let out a humorless laugh, as you reached the police station, and sighed.
“That I was just another name added to his long list of women that he’d fooled over the years. He wasn’t happy, and he didn’t know how to break it off, so he took the easy way out, because he didn’t have the balls to tell me. And now, I don’t know if he’s just trying to entertain himself for the time being, by trying to weasel his way back into my life, because it doesn’t matter. Because his shit doesn’t work on me anymore.” You voiced, shrugging.
Jaz looked, like she felt bad for bringing it up, but you assured her it was fine, before you made your way into the police station.
The station you were called into looked office like, and when you got there, you were escorted to a waiting area, and were told you would be called in by an agent. It was different from any other station you’d been to, and looked more like it were headquarters for company.
You could see through the windows, and the people in the rooms could see you right back, as they were made of glass. Even though it wasn’t a typical police station, being in the building with that many police made you think back to the last time you were in a police station. After Billy left, it was the only place you knew for months straight. And it also made you think back to the first time you were ever in a station.
After that horrific night. The night that you could never forget.
When you got to the waiting area you weren’t surprised by the face that met yours, his head tilting up to look at yours, with a large smile across it, as you approached.
Speak of the devil…” you lowly muttered to Jaz, annoyance in your voice.
Billy was dressed in his regular suit and tie, and his coat in hand. You hadn’t seen or spoken to him since that night he’d dropped you off at your apartment and tied to, what you thought was, kiss you.
“Well, I think I saw a vending machine on our way in, and since you won’t let me swipe his keys so we can mess with his car,  I don’t think I’ll be able to control my sticky fingers, so I’m gonna go get some snacks. And In the words of or  lovely Ava, just yelp for help.”
You nod with a laugh, as Jaz walks back in the direction you both came, and you walk over to the waiting area, where Billy is already seated.
“Good morning to you,” he says with a smile, Was that, Jaz that I just saw?” He asks, motioning to the place you were standing before.
“Yup, she saw a vending machine on her way in and…you know her and her snacks,” you sit in the only seat left, next to Billy, “you can’t keep ‘em apart.”
“Right, I remember, she was always very.. serious about her food.” He said nodding. You both were quiet for a minute, which was beyond awkward, and he continued. “How have you been? I-I haven’t seen you since-“
“Since we escaped that building of doom? I’m fine. I just wanna do this and go.”  You could tell that Billy agreed, but then he looked like he had something on his mind, which he tried to voice.
“Uh, I’ve been meaning to talk to you, about the other day,-“
“Billy, there’s nothing to talk about, because nothing happened, and nothing was going to happen. Okay? No chance.” You blurted out, ending the conversation before it began. Billy seemed a bit disappointed at your answer, but nodded anyway.
“Alright, okay. But there was also something else I wanted to talk about.”
You didn’t really believe him, but you decided to hear him out. “I’m listening.”
“So that guy, that we ran into in the building, I think we should… keep that between us.”
“You shifted in your seat, confused. “What do you mean? You mean, keep that from the police?”
“Yeah, I just think, it’d be, smarter to not tell anyone.”
“Not even the police? It could probably help then catch the guys you know, if we told them what the guy told us. Like how we heard they were sent by some guy, and how they were looking for somethi-“
“Y/N,” he sighed, “It would be better to keep it to ourselves.”
“But why?”
“Let’s just say…,”. He hesitated to speak, “that some of the cops in this place are not very, loyal to the force, okay? If we tell them anything we heard from that guy, it’d be in the system, and it could get back some people, that, trust me on this, we don’t want it getting back to.”
“What people? Billy, you’re not making any sense, at all-,” Billy touching your arm, causes you to stop talking and look at him. His hand felt tense on your arm, a serious look stretched across his face, and his eyes looked to have a mix of worry and softness in them, which you found to be incredibly strange for dealing with the police, since the police’s job was to help people. Maybe he did know what he was talking about, since he ran into police a lot at his job.
“Just, please… trust me. Okay?”
You hesitated, but eventually nodded, and put your hands up in defense, “Okay. I won’t say anything.” And your works seemed to relax Billy, prompting him to take his hand off your arm. “But for future reference, you should really stop saying that, because it absolutely, does not have the effect you think it does.” you admitted to him.
He relaxed at that, and you turned to make a comment at what he was wearing.“Is that three piece suit glued to you or something? It’s Saturday.”
He chuckled at that, and moved closer to you, if it was possible, and put his arm around the neck of your chair. “It in fact, not glued to me, and it comes off pretty easy, if that’s what you’re worried about. I’d be glad to show-“
“Forget it. I regret having asked in the first place. Leave it to only you to that.” You expressed, lightly shoving his arm away.
“Yeah, but you used to love it.”
“Hm, I wonder what changed?” You voiced, putting your finger on your lip in a thinking stance. “Anyway, I got a call from, an Agent Madani this morning? Is that who called you in too?”
“Ahh, yeah. Not personally on the phone, but I’m not surprised that she’s in charge of this case. She’s very… persistent in her work. Stops at nothing to get to the bottom of a case.”
“Wait, you know her?” You asked, shifting in your seat at his information.
“Yeah…” he sighed deeply, “sometimes the police and my guys clash. So I’ve ran into her a few times on the job. ”
“Huh, you seem to run into a lot of people on said job.” You remarked, raising your eyebrows and leaning back in your chair, and resting your head on the wall behind you and staring at the ceiling.
Billy didn’t say anything for a minute or so, opting to just smirk to himself, which you noticed, and you lowered your gaze from the ceiling to look at him.
“Is something funny?”
He looks over at you, a smirk still on his face, as if he found something amusing.“-No, nothing’s, -nothing’s funny at all.” He shrugged and put his hands up in defense.
After he didn’t say anything more, you went back to resting your head on the wall behind you when him speaking, made you look at him again.
“It’s just that, if I didn’t…know any better, I’d say that,” he closed one of his eyes as if he was thinking, “you sound a little jealo-“
“Then you don’t know any better, because you actually thought to finish that sentence.” You interrupted, his words making you sit up in your chair. “I only commented, because that’s what you said last time about the, sergeant guy, and I just wanted to know who I was going to be dealing with. Obviously.” You shared, dragging out the last word.
He was still smirking, so you opted to share further.
“If you think that I’m jealous,” you sat up further, pointing to yourself, “then that tie is on a little too tight. Like you’ve officially, lost your mind. We’re not together anymore you can do whatever you want.”
“Okay,” he cleared his throat and sat up straighter in his seat, a smirk still painting his face. “If you say so.”
“I do say so.”
He shrugged. “Cool.”
“Great.”
“Fine.”
“Fine.”
You both sat in silence for the next few minutes, and you thought, actually had hoped that it would’ve stayed that way, but Billy started another conversation.
“…So I never got chance to ask you, ‘cause we were busy, trying not captured and stuff in that building, but you and this Nick character-“
“Oh god…” you groaned to yourself.
“-Are you like” he looked like he had a hard time getting the words out, “together or something?”
“Billy…”
“-I mean if you wanted flowers, I could’ve gotten you flowers,-like I was getting to that,” he sat up now, and looked perplexed, “And I mean the ones he got you, anyways, you told me, that you don’t even like those kinds-“
“It’s the thought that counts Billy, and not that it’s any of your business, but if you must know, we’ve been on two dates.” You paused before adding, “so far. ‘Cause they’ll probably be more, actually.”
“So far, huh.”
“Yup.”
“Well, I just have a weird feeling about this guy, okay? I’ve seen him, somewhere, I can’t pin it down, but he just seems a little… off to me.”
“Uh, you’re a little off, Billy, if you think that you’re going to interfere with my dating life, because you ‘have a bad feeling about guy,” you spat, using air quotes and a mocking tone. “He’s a gentleman and a nice guy.”
“Well, you know what they say,” he said, leaning back in his chair, “Nice guys finish last.”
“Well this nice guy, is In the lead, so.”
Billy  looks off into the distance, and runs his tongue over his teeth in frustration. “That’s great.”
“Cool.”
“Fine.”
“Fin-,” just as you were about to finish your sentence, you both hear a loud knocking on the glass behind you, prompting you and Billy to turn around, and when you do, you’re both met with a man, annoyance painting his face.
“Are you guys done!?” He threw his hands up in frustration, and his voice sounded muffled. “I can hear you through the glass. Jeez,” He complained, scoffing.
You mouthed a quick ‘sorry’, while Billy said nothing and turned back around, irritation on his face.
You both sat there in silence after that, not saying anything, when the loud sound of heels coming towards you, prompts you to look up. It was a woman, and she was pretty, and her short curly hair falling just around her neck, fit her perfectly. She approached you, and introduced herself.
“Hello, Ms.Y/L/N, I’m Agent Dinah Madani, Homeland Security, we spoke on the phone. I hope I didn’t keep you waiting too long,” She said with a smile.
You noticed an accent when she spoke, her voice sounding friendly. But her smile didn’t seem very genuine to you and looked more, forced, but you otherwise took the hand she held out to you and shook it.
“Oh, no, you’re fine, I wasn’t waiting too long.” You replied, nodding your head. She answers with a nod as well and a smile, and shifts her attention next to you, to acknowledge Billy, who stood from his seat.
“Agent Madani,” he started, “we can’t keep meeting like this. Seems to be a pattern we should break.”
“I couldn’t agree more, Mr. Russo,” she says with a single nod and a slight smile, that again, seemed forced, “please, follow me, Ms.Y/LN.”
The Agent, who went by Madani, took you to a grey painted room, that looked more like a conference room, if anything. When you walked in, you noticed a yellow folder on the table, which was on the opposite side of where you stood, and you guessed that’s where Agent Madani would be sitting.
“Please, have a seat Ms.Y/L/N,” she gestured to the seat opposite of her, confirming what you thought and you took her offer. “I really do hope I didn’t keep you waiting too long. I was just gathering information.” She sat opposite of you now, folding her hands before her.
“No, that’s okay, it wasn’t too much of a wait.” You replied. “Um, did you say that you were Homeland Security?” You asked, to confirm.
“Correct. Most of the time when it’s a large company like this one, with a situation as big as this one, we get pulled in. Is that okay?”
You found it weird that she was asking you that, since it wasn’t like you had much of a choice in selecting which kinds of police would look into the situation, but you nodded anyway.
“Oh, yeah no, that’s… fine, I guess. I mean,” you shrugged, “I just don’t know how these things go.”
“Right. Well, I have a few questions for you, pertaining to what happened that day.” She says and you nod, a sign for her to ask her questions.
“Can you tell me how you were able to get out of the building?”
“Well, I was with Mr. Russo, the entire time, so it was really him who got me out of there.”
“And I was told it was you, Mr.Russo, and another individual, who were the only ones that were able to make it out the building, without police interference.”
“Yes.” You nodded.
“And you were together the entire time?”
“…yes. That’s correct.”
“And… neither one of you were harmed? There were several others, who made it out, that had to be taken to the E.R.”
“Yeah, I know it was, terrible, but Mr. Russo made sure we got out of there unharmed.”
“Hm.” She made a slight face as she bummed to herself, “ I find it… a little hard to believe, that you all just, made it out unharmed.”
Huh. This was sounding more like an interrogation, than getting a statement taken.
Your eyebrows furrowed at that. “Um, Agent Madani, Mr. Russo was in the Special Forces, and owns his own Private Military Firm, so I don’t think it’s that far fetched…”
She nodded, “Well, these guys were able to take down his entire team that he placed in the building, who are also very skilled, so I wouldn’t say it was too crazy…”
“I…guess we were just lucky.” You said, shrugging.
“Lucky, huh?” You nodded, at her question.
When you didn’t say anything she continued, “Well, Ms.Y/L/N, would you say that you were lucky, when you came into contact with one the intruders? When you were alone, and not in fact with Mr.Russo, like you previously said before?”
Shit.
You fixed your posture and swallowed after her words, being caught off guard, and the Agent spoke again.
“They were able shut down the power in the in the building, which also shut down most of the cameras. Except for the ones that were battery powered, of course.”
“Of course.” You repeated in a slight mocking manner.
“We saw that you both, moved out of view of the camera, so can you tell me what happened after?”
You fiddled with your fingers, thinking about what Billy told you. “Again, I was just really lucky. When he saw me he just, left me alone. And I was unharmed.”
“Is that so?”
“Yeah…”
She didn’t say anything for a minute, and just stared at you, with a slight smirk on her face, and you stared back, feeling uncomfortable.
“Well, I’m glad, that you were unharmed, of course.” She finally said.
“Thank you. So am I…” you lowly trailed off, as she stood up now, grabbing the folder that was on the desk.
“And the company’s been running, for over 20 years now?”
You quickly counted in your head, then answered. “Uh, Yeah, I would say.”
And it’s run by your boss, a Mr.Harrison Wilburne? He’s a very well known man.”
“Well, he’s rich, so…, and like you said, it’s a pretty big company.”
“Of course, Wilburne industries. I hear that every year, he throws these fancy events, for a fundraiser for charities?”
“Yeah,” you sighed, relaxing a bit. “He invites other rich people that he knows, and us employees get to attend so…I think he’s a pretty great person, for the fundraisers of course. We actually have one coming up soon.” She give another one of her forced smiles, as a response.
“Do you… know where your boss was, during all this?”
“Uh… I actually don’t, I didn’t really see him that day, if he was there at all.”
“Hm..,” she trailed off, “ and let me ask you, you are in a very high position, at Wilburne industries, one of the top spots?”
“Yes, I am.”
“I understand that, it didn’t take you very long to get to that position level. It takes some people years, to get to where you are now. It’s impressive.”
“Thank you, but I got lucky there too. I mean, yeah I did work my ass off, but Mr. Wilburne did, give me the chance of a lifetime.”
She started walking now, around the table you sat, which made you shift uncomfortably.
“I guess you did get lucky.” She said, her smile all too forced. She rounded the table and stood near you now, the folder she previously walked in with, in her hand, and she continued.
“But I mean, it must’ve helped that nobody knew who your father was.”
You froze at the words that left her mouth, caught off guard.
-No. This wasn’t what you came in for.
 She can’t know that.
Maybe she didn’t really know anything and was just trying to intimidate you. For some reason.
For whatever reason.
Your eyes shot up to meet hers, as you felt a deep panic begin to rise in you, as she leaned back on the desk, staring at you, and you stared right back, more of a glare really, when you spoke.
“What did you say?”
“Oh, I said, your father.” She repeated matter of factly. “He’s, a pretty famous guy too, been in the news a lot lately.” She opened the folder she had in her hand and began reading from it. “Thomas St.James, A.K.A of course, Mr. White, leader of one of the biggest crime empires New York’s City’s every seen.”
Why the fuck did she know that?
There was no way she would know that unless she did some digging.
Who the hell was this lady and why the fuck was she digging into your life?
You clenched your jaw after she spoke, still glaring at her, enraged. You frozen in place, furious, but she didn’t seem to care though, as she flipped through the folder she had in her hand.
“That has nothing, to do, with the situation at hand, Agent Madani-“
“He built an empire, from drug money, and was on the police’s radar for years, and the FBI’s most wanted list, but could only be identified, as Mr.White, because he always got away clean. White slate.”
She flipped through the folder as she quoted something from it.
“And the night that he was uncovered twenty-five years ago, police found heavy substantial evidence in St.James home, revealing him to be Mr.White, which was only after police went through the St.James home, due to discovering a-“
She stopped in her reading abruptly, before returning her eyes to yours, and your eyes shot away from hers at that, staring at the far wall ahead of you, swallowing hard. You grasped the edge of the table now, your jaw clenching even harder and you couldn’t get any words out, and she continued reading.
-due to discovering a brutal crime scene.”
Your eyes began to burn now, the tears that were forming threatening to spill any second, as Madani continued quoting what she had in her hand.
“Police were near by, when.. they heard screams, at the St.James home and responded, finding a neighbor who had…discovered the suspect Thomas St.James, with the murder weapon in hand, a knife, near t-the victim, St.James’s wife… Olivia St.James.”
The tears fell now, quickly streaming down your face, as Madani read on.
“The neighbor, who was close to the couple, went over pick something up for the couple’s c-child, Y/N St.James, who was… attending a s-sleepover with the neighbor’s daughter. The victim’s sister, Elizabeth Y/L/N, took custody of the child, giving the child her sister’s maiden name. Although, St.James was charged with the crimes pertaining to his criminal empire, and the murder of his wife, he has maintained his innocence, ever since.”
Madani closed the folder now and your eyes shifted to hers, the tears still streaming down your face. Her mouth was agape, and she looked like she wanted to say something, but struggled to.
“I, uh…I didn’t know that he- I didn’t hear that in the news-,” she paused, “I didn’t know, that was going to be in there.”
“Can I ask you, what the point of that was? Any of that?”
“I just- I thought that you could answer some questions on a case that I’ve been working on involving-“
She doesn’t get to finish whatever she was going to say when the door burst open, and a man coming in, his angry gaze on Madani. His grey hair was styled, along with his grey goatee, and he wore a suit.
“Madani!” He yelled, “I thought I told you one of the other agents would be taking over for this,” he reminded the Agent, and you guessed that the question was rhetorical one, but Madani answered anyway.
“Yes..sir. But all the other agents weren’t available at the time so, I took over.” She took and breath, and replied, you could noticeably see that she having a bit of a stand off, with the man that you assumed was her boss.
“…Right..” he trailed off, staring at her with a stern face, before turning to you. “Carson wolf, Ma’am, I apologize for the way that my agent acted, for what was supposed to be a simple appointment for taking a statement,” he held his hand out to shake yours, while glaring at Madani, which you shook in return, “You’re free to go, Ma’am.”
They seemed to be having a stare-off when you leave the room, rushing to find Jaz, so you could go home. On your way out, you didn’t see Billy, and you assumed that he must’ve been in another room, getting his actual statement taken.
Nothing about what just happened made sense. If Madani had questions about a case you knew something about, which you doubted, why didn’t she just ask you? Or was she using what she knew about you father as leverage, because she believed she wouldn’t get the answers to those questions.
But who did she have questions about?

what are your thoughts on the seven? Like, what are we to make of them as deities?
just reread the series, and on first pass (tho i plan to go back searching for this) it seems like the seven come off as... less Tangible than the Old Gods/R'hllor. like melisandre births shadow assassins. bloodraven Exists. clearly there's something to these gods. maybe not what their worshipper's think, but like. a Power, for sure.
By contrast, the seven seem to exist solely in the minds of those who believe in them. Trials by combat seem to be 50/50. Tyrion win's Lysa's but loses Cersei's. the faith of the seven are notoriously corrupt, and after the sparrow's takeover, is going full-tilt crazy fundamentalist.
Yet these gods bring a great deal of comfort to the characters who believe in them. And I can't help but think about Septon Meribald, wandering the war-torn riverlands barefoot to give out oranges and flour and alms to those in need. That kind of religious-charity seems to be exclusive to the seven.
So given all this... idk, what's their deal? Are they "gods as a reflection of humanity"? "gods as a reflection of society"? I feel like "they were always 100% fake and anyone who ever prayed to them was praying to nothing" is a little too grimdark for grrm, but idk!
Sorry for the long ask jfjsjjd
i am not a good meta poster or essayist so my apologies for what will surely be a poor answer 😭 so introduction. grrm is lapsed catholic and the seven is like soo barely removed from catholicism. also rhllor/old gods doing things in text doesnt necessarily make them, the gods, real. the magic is certainly real but that doesnt mean the gods themselves are real. and so that goes into the whole Do the gods of planetos actually exist at all. so the faith isnt actually alone in having the Are the gods real? question
the faith is based on faith right, belief without necessarily having proof. it's pretty unique actually for that. the old gods have weirwoods and dreams, rhllor has shadowbinding, but the faith doesnt even have martyrdom/saints/incorruptibility/miracles/etc. its purely a social function; hierarchy, laws, morality and life-after-death existentialism.
i think this is what grrm is exploring, another brick in the wall of Society. like how is religion used as a hammer for hierarchy and how does it interact with power, with patriarchy, with classism. yes, the faith descends into fundamentalism but its also one of the only ways the peasant class can organise and attack the establishment. its social mobility in a way they cant otherwise access.
so i guess in all my rambling, i'd agree with the assessment that its 'gods as a reflection of society/humanity'. i dont think the fact that theyre 100% fake is bleak, really. i think all religions are fake irl but that doesnt take away from the beauty and love and joy they can bring to people. for every cruel septa/on, there's a meribald who brings peace and forgiveness.
idk again i am not a good meta poster i cant pull out quotes for shit 😭 but i remember the moments of jaime earnestly praying. and you look at melisandre who uses her faith in rhllor as a desperate attempt to justify her own sense of self, her suffering, her actions. its similar in a way to the faith. melisandre's total belief in rhllor, no matter how delusional, is just as important as if rhllor himself actually existed.
so to summarise, the meaning we gain from metaphysical concepts can be just as important as the perceived power of the metaphysical concept itself. idk im sure im making a mess of the philosphical idealism vs materialism plus i am making no sense and making no actual points but i hope this communicates my personal interpretation of the faith of the seven!

Funhouse Speculation on DFF
I love horror, and I absolutely love guessing who the unknown killers could be in a horror story. Dead Friend Forever is perfect for this type of diversion!!!
I have to share my wild speculations on this wonderful little show, even if I'm proven wrong later (that's part of the fun). Heeheeheeheehee.
I'll start my speculations assuming there's only human killers (for now).
Who is a killer? My guess at the Episode 4 mark--
Tumblr media
Jin!!!!!!
(plus Top for obvious reasons)
Hear me out!
We are one third of the way through the series, and there's so much more story to tell. Per horror film tropes--the first third we often get red herrings (that may or may not end up being true).
First, let's deal with the two most suspicious characters.
Phi and Tan: Are they the killers? Options:
Phi and Tan are the killers, perhaps as revenge for Non's death and/or they are working with Non.
Phi and Tan are red herrings to make people think they are the killers when they just aren't.
(Variant of #2) Phi and Tan are not the killers, but they were friends with Non and wanted to learn about what happened to him. Still not the killers.
Phi and Tan are red herrings at first but one or both end up being one of the killers as a reverse uno later in the show. In this situation, at some point in the show's middle third it will be revealed that they are not the killers in some "decisive" way. The reverse uno comes in the last third with the final twist revealing No, He (They) Is (Are) the Killers!
At this point, they're just too obvious, so I'm skeptical of them as the killers. That said, Tan seems the more suspicious of the two.
Next, Por: Is he a victim or one of the killers? Thoughts:
In many horror films, one of the killers often ends up "dead" earlier in the story only to reveal themselves to be very much alive at the story's climax. I mean Por did basically impale himself on that tree branch. I admit the stomach wounds seem real, so who knows. The thing I'm looking for now is whether or not his body gets moved to an out-of-way place. If they move the body, then the chances of him being a killer increases. After all, he'd be able to freely move about if no one is watching his body.
Question though--who exactly would be his primary target? Hmmm.
On to Tee and Fluke: Killers or the primary targets? Thoughts:
These two are breaking under the pressure! They both seem more likely to become killers in the mania of the situation than to be the original killers. Tee seems like a primary target, if he actually was Non's main bully, but I'm not 100% sold on that.
For Fluke, it's interesting that this entire situation seems almost designed to push his buttons. That said, if Por is one of the killers, then Fluke would be the obvious accomplice. Who would be their primary target?
Now, let's discuss Top: Top, Top, Top. Thoughts:
I think he's faking the crazy.
Consider this--Top when he gets off the bike outside the house:
Tumblr media
He looks pretty clearheaded to me. What's unclear is the state of his shirt. Speaking of...
Tumblr media
The shirt doesn't look as green in the first picture as it does in the second when he's come into the house and is starting to "seizure." Plus he doesn't have the traces of green vomit on his face in the first picture (which is easier to see when you watch the show as opposed to looking at my crappy screenshot).
As I said--he's totally faking it.
Of course, I'm currently speculating on the killers being wholly human. All the supernatural stuff I'll save for another post. At this point, he's "killed" Por, so the question really becomes Who Is His Accomplice? Por and Fluke? Seems a little unlikely, but you never know. Also, if he's the first killer revealed, then he's not the mastermind.
Regarding his primary targets--hold on that.
At last, we have Jin and White: Final boys or the ultimate masterminds? Thoughts:
What a juxtaposition these two make. Honestly, it's hard to tell which is more suspicious.
With White, as the story progresses, he seems more and more like the final boy. BUT! Why would the killers target him? He wasn't a part of the original group who knew Non. Often in horror, the final girl/boy is someone that the killer saves to the end because they are the primary target. Why would anyone target White?
That said, the main person I can think of is Top. In the first episode, there was that joke about Top joining Tee and White in a threesome. Is there tension there that has yet to be revealed? Is White Top's primary target for taking Tee?
To flip it, is Top helping White get revenge for his--I don't know--big brother Non? I could totally see that. Maybe it's White that Top wants, and so he's helping him exact revenge. It is Top's freakout that lead to Tee freaking out, after all. I like White as the final boy more than him being a killer, so the question is who is the second (or third killer?) and who is he targeting?
Then we come to Jin.
At the beginning, Jin had more markings of being the final boy, but over time, he's proven to not be that helpful. I have no memory of him contributing anything positive to their situation. With his dislocated shoulder, he's now turned into a damsel in distress. There's potential backstory per the show's trailer that Jin liked Non. Could he secretly be the one planning revenge?
Also, so much of his story seems to revolve around Phi, almost as if they're trajectory is separate from everyone else's. With so much more story to tell (two thirds of the show!), I wonder how they're return to the group will go.
With horror tropes in mind, Jin seems the least likely candidate, which is why he's the most suspicious to me right now. This is totally just gut feeling, with barely any logic around it. I fully admit it.
But wait, what about Non? I need more information. He could be the red herring.
...
I have many more thoughts as I speculate away, so I'll likely post further once I collect them. There's a lot to think about regarding the supernatural aspects (are we going to get a Blair Witch ending?) and the sexual dynamics (are we going to get a Captivity ending!?!?). Now that's a thought.

Jojos bizarre adventure part 4 to 6...
Well, I just finished Jojo's, and I have no idea where to start. WHAT AN ANIME, WHAT A SERIES, AND HOW AMAZING EVERYTHING WAS. I started watching the series because of the memes and ended up watching one of the most incredible anime series ever. Seriously, what an amazing freaking anime, I enjoyed it like crazy. Let's break it down: Josuke's season was one of my favorites; I really liked the plot, and throughout the season, I was trying to figure out how the heck they were going to beat Kira, and while it didn't have as many memorable fights, the final battle is spectacular. Giorno's season also impressed me; it was the one I was most looking forward to, and it was totally worth it. The fights were great, and the ending too. Plus, the soundtrack for this season is exquisite, and it also has one of my favorite moments of the entire series and one of the reasons I started watching: The Torture Dance. And finally, Jolyne's season... it was my favorite of them all :v, great fights, great opening, spectacular villain (actually my favorite in the series), and with a final battle that can only be described as overwhelming. Bro, Pucci's stand is the most fucking cataclysmic power I've ever seen in any medium, I literally felt genuine distress watching the entire fight against Pucci. I'm trying to think of any character with a similar power, but I can't think of any (Edit: Antispiral too, cof cof); he literally reset the damn universe XD. One thing I loved about this series was the deaths, and those who have followed me for a long time will know that one of the things I hate most in an anime (especially in One Piece) is fake deaths, but in this damn show, they keep killing off all the protagonists and secondary characters, man, which, although it left me with a high degree of depression (Shigechi, Iggy, Avdol :''''v), I must say made the situations and fights completely adrenaline-filled. I was stressed out in every season, not knowing who they were going to kill off in each episode. The death that hit me the hardest was Shigechi's; the final moment gave me so much anxiety, and the fact that he ended up dying just before telling his friends... Now, my favorite fight was Everyone vs. Father Pucci, my favorite stands were Silver Chariot and Crazy Diamond, my favorite villain was Pucci, my favorite Jojo was all of them (Especially Josuke), my favorite jobros were Polnareff and Koichi, and lastly, my favorite season was Stone Ocean. The only thing I didn't like is that now I'm left wanting more. I could describe my experience with the following phrase: I don't know what I'm watching, but I can't stop watching it. What a great series.

GrojBand Comeback Tour - Nick Mallory
(Note: It always bothered me that Nick has always been an integral part in the success of GrojBand, and yet is never seen to have any real connection with them. The only thing that comes to close to that is his small interactions with Corey. And not only that, I also thought that his character was a bit inconsistent as he's seen to be this really cool and considerate guy in one scene, but acts a bit selfish and judgemental in the next. So in this, I thought about making him the wiseman that listens to everyone's problems and gives out advice. He'll be like GrojBand's cool older brother that can always be depended on, though the thought would only apply to Corey at first and slowly over time the rest of the members would start to see Nick like that too. This kind and generous big brother aspect was done to reflect and contrast to Trina, like an angel to a devil.)
Role: Originally Corey got Nick along for the ride in the tour marathon as a fake roadie so that it would make his sister Trina crazy and follow them all over the country so that they would never run out of lyrics to use for the competition. But surprisingly Nick became a solid foundation for GrojBand's integrity and moral support as he not only tended to all their equipment, but also all their emotional distress in very hopeless situations. Though a lot of his advice involves him talking in third person and whatever random thing he was doing that day, there's always a truth and meaning behind his words that always seemed to make them feel better.
Though he deeply involves himself in the band's affairs, he always runs off in every city they go to and be on his own mini-adventures. But whether that be tending the elderly, going to festivals, finding lost animals, solving crime scenes, being one with nature, or etc., he would always make it to every one of their performances no matter what so that everything goes off well and support them.
Bio: Nick has always been this type of person who feels obligated to help everyone and everything around him, just wanting to do what he can for everyone to be happy. But because of his many years of kind acts, plus his outwards appearance and almost superhuman capabilities, everyone placed him on a pedestal and treated him like a higher being. Though he never wanted any kind of special treatment, he didn't have the heart to say anything that would offend or deflect anyone's appreciation towards him. So for a long time he just played along and accepted a lonely role that pretty much isolated him from everyone else.
Well that was until he met a very odd and energetic musician that came up to him nonchalantly and asked him to be part of his many series of schemes and plans to be famous. That day, Nick wasn't sure if it was out of curiosity or concern, but it was the first time in a very long time where he could speak to someone in even terms and getting a few laughs in. Since then, he's been keeping a close eye on Corey and his path to fame and fortune.
