i made some tags but i want to talk more about some "red flag" books. sorry for any typos or if my english is incorrect at any point, it's not my first language.

i added the following tags:

let's start by saying i happen to LOVE haruki murakami and i think his philosophical takes on his books are marvelous. like i said in the tags, you HAVE to be older to understand some things that are not explicit when you're younger or on a first read-through (for example, fight club doesnt pack the same punch [haha punch] when you read it a second time, then you see the signals pointing to the end were there all along but you didn't pick up the information). that's what i mean by saying picking up undertones when you're older, you have more information to contextualize (or re-contextualize) a book.

like, imagine you're 14 and you read american psycho. you probably don't even know what a yuppie is. and by missing that you're missing why bateman acts the way he does. and it does the same thing fight club does, which is to present us with unreliable narrators. but again you may not pick that up until you're older and can understand the themes of toxic masculinity (fight club) or the objectification of women, critic to the capitalism model and mental health issues (american psycho).

i love sylvia plath but admittedly, you do have to be a certain age to read the bell jar because of its themes of mental health, depression and suicide, but those are not red flags, those are triggers. why are these people keeping away a beautifully written story about mental health issues saying it's a red flag to read this book? this makes no sense to me. and tbh i HAVE to laugh at the sticker on gone girl. "if shes reading this she probably watched jennifer's body at least once". this cracked me up. i am aware of its flaws but i love jennifer's body (and it's a fuck you to men everywhere despite the ending), and that comment is so correct. gone girl also says fuck you to men, and it should not be considered a red flag. like... grow up maybe.

now, about the thing that will probably haunt my dreams this night. HOW IS FRANKENSTEIN ON A RED FLAG SHELF?! sure it's philosophical af but i read it at a young age and as i grew up i reread it a lot (i do have this problem, instead of buying new books, i reread mine because having dynamic reading means i end them REALLY fast and i end up with the same books to read lol), understanding more and more with more age. HOW in the world is this book a red flag? i honestly can't see it. yeah it is horror and a bit sci-fi but i was reading stephen king by age 9 and i turned out (mostly) fine. this one pisses me off to no end.

anyway i don't even know if anyone will read this but i already typed everything so. i'm ending these here. if i misexplained or mansplained anything pls let me know (i'm a trans man so please fell free). and if you wanna know more about the books that i mentioned both in the tags and this post, i can try and give a trigger warning or a spoilers-free synopsis of the ones I've already read.

I’m primarily a hobbyist artist and writer, though I do aspire to get a proper job in either (or both!) professions someday. The title of this section is a joke. I don't actually have a DNI. What I will lay down is a before you follow:

• I am not comfortable with sharing my personal information on any public social media! Please respect this. I am comfortable disclosing that I am professionally diagnosed with autism and ADHD, and identify... somewhere on the LGBTQ spectrum in both orientation and gender. I'm still trying to figure out where, mind you, but definitely somewhere!!

• I am very violently queer and use the word very liberally as a form of self-identification. If this is a serious, major problem for you, I'd recommend you just block this blog and move on.

Similarly; body horror, existential dread, various kinds of abuse, struggles with nihilism, and mental health issues of all kinds are either common or at the very least notably existent in virtually all settings I create. If any of this makes you uncomfortable, I would earnestly recommend blocking most of the tags relating to my work.

• This should go without saying, but this blog is open to all sorts of identities and peoples regardless of origin. Short of literally being a crime, I am happy to let people identify however they wish. If you disagree with this statement, please be aware that I block liberally and I block often.

~ Personal Projects and Settings ~

Acts, Promises, and Faith (commonly abbreviated to "APF"): My main ongoing original fiction project, with a clearly defined cast and setting and (almost!) a clearly defined overarching plot. Set on an artificially magic-infused planet known simply as Mimue, it follows a catgirl shapeshifter as she struggles to deal with love, loss, the baby(?) eldritch spider that crashed through her roof last night, and the most powerful person to ever exist taking a personal interest in her journey to bring that spider home. The main story is not currently published, and will likely not be for years, but I do hope to make it into a webcomic someday. Or a book. Or a game. Or just... something.

Outside of the main protagonist quartet, the setting as a whole has an abundance of side characters (and not so side characters), most of which feature in some shape or form in the official stories I have published on Ao3! These side stories also contain major insights into the lore and overall status of the world at large, and I always have ideas in the back of my mind for how I can make more stuff like this in the future. Just make sure to read the content warnings on all published works, and know that none of those were published in anything close to chronological order 👉😎👉

It is also important to note that you should treat all of those aforementioned stories as you would expanded universe material for an already-existing show or franchise- with the incredibly notable exception of one reoccurring character in particular, a majority of the cast given focus in the Ao3 fics do not star or otherwise provide a major role in the plot as it's written right now. I'm essentially constructing this universe backwards by first introducing everyone to Glup Shitto instead of Luke Skywalker. But that's okay, because now you can have both as your blorbos in the end! Everyone wins!

I am always accepting asks and inquiries about this world, because I love it to death and I love my blorbos to death and Rigel is my favorite character I've ever made ever.

Overall genre: Urban... ish fantasy character drama, leaning slightly towards low fantasy in general. The technology level in most of the world is equivalent to America in the early 60s, and magic originates from an outside force/gift in this setting, but is also pretty much seamlessly integrated into society by the modern day. While the story and themes are closer to darker melodrama than light-hearted action adventure, the world is distinctly not grimdark and the plot is mainly motivated by and through character actions and beliefs throughout the narrative.

Notable Content Warnings: Depression, allusions to suicide, drowning, burning alive, occasional gore, PTSD and C-PTSD, unreality and hallucinations from the prospective of the primary protagonist, body horror

Main Tag: #apf for general content, #apf info for more specific information about the world (these posts are not up-to-date most of the time, upfront worldbuilding questions are always preferred!)

Where to read it?: The APF anthology collection on Ao3 currently contains every published story I've ever written in ideal reading order! You definitely don't have to follow it in the slightest, it's just a suggestion due to how many fics there actually are. This setting also has its very own discord server, but for security reasons if anyone wants to enter it they'll have to DM me personally. Go on, give it a shot, I certainly won't mind!

"Above": A work-in-progress name for a mostly sandbox (no clearly defined plot) setting about various gods, angels, and demons getting up to mischief across time and space. Dramatically darker in setting and tone than APF, and far less grounded to boot.

The world of "Above" is currently split between two eras- the "past" era, where a newly-born Seraph named Reguel tries their best to follow the wishes of their god, and the "present" era, where the King of Demons campaigns to end a millennium of torment from his cruel patron deity. At its core, it's a science fantasy setting that ends up focusing 99% of its attention on the duo of god-created fantasy races and very little on the already scarce sci-fi elements. Outside of lore about the gods and their creations, the rest of the world is merely a backdrop to demon and angel tomfoolery. To this effect, the actual "main cast" features funny jesters, friendly demon kings that use emoticons every five sentences, murderous malewives intensely in love with their giant goth girlfriends, and one (1) very sexy butler. Truly, some treats for everyone to enjoy.

Also, demons in this setting are floating mood ring space cannibals. That's really just something you have to experience for yourself to understand.

While there is an ongoing askblog based on this world, the events of that blog are not strictly canonical and will probably never be declared as such for spoiler-related reasons I cannot get into... but I'm also not saying the blog isn't canon. Just like APF, I'm always happy to receive and answer asks about this setting, so feel free to send any when you feel like it!

Overall Genre: The past era is a fantastical tragedy, while the present era is largely a nobledark adventure story. The world of the past is seen only through the eyes of an unreliable narrator, while the present is told through many different perspectives across many different species and locations.

Notable Content Warnings: Everything in the book. Psychosis, self harm, cannibalism, gore, dissociation, suicidal thoughts, PTSD, C-PTSD, parental abuse, parental neglect, abusive relationships... this is a dead dove setting, through and through, and it does not pull its punches. Particularly in the past era, but the whole world in general is a dove actively dying inside a paper bag.

Main Tag: #above.

Where to read it?: As this is largely a sandbox freeform setting, there's far fewer defined ways to access information about the setting and lore. The most notable proper story is God Have Mercy on Them, God Have Mercy on Me, a work-in-progress epic set in the past era that describes Reguel's early life and the choices that led them to where (and who) they are today. It has an absurdly slow update schedule because I write in my free time and it's insanely long, but many of its twists and turns are truly something else. One day I will finish it, and on that day it will be my magnum fucking opus. Probably. Maybe. Who knows, really.

The other option is @xx-hail2theking-xx, a currently ongoing roleplay blog centered around King Paimak and his merry band of cannibals. Unlike all other blogs I've managed in the past, it has a clearly defined act structure and is planned to end after a certain point, but that point is still far off. You don't necessarily need to read through the entire blog to jump into the plot at this point in time, but it certainly wouldn't hurt!

Also I've worked on it for like a year and made a bunch of art and writing just for it and it's kind of just my homemade self-imposed summer art project now. In a wacky demon sort of way.

The Omniverse: Technically not just my project, but deserves to be included here anyway! This is a set of Undertale Multiverse roleplay blogs I participate in during my off time, although currently they're on indefinite hiatus due to unfortunate life and scheduling reasons.

The simplest way to explain the overarching plot- the very loose, very improv-based plot- of both blogs I run is essentially that there are two concurrent stories running back-to-back. In one, a recovering drug addict struggles with terrifying concepts like "having morals" and "caring about people", while in other the self-proclaimed King of Darkness and Everything Evil has to contest with a madman that wants to wipe out all of reality and build it anew and has already done so once before.

Oh, and the recoverer is the brother of the King's spouse. There's a truckload of complicated roleplay lore associated with each and every character from this setting, and it's almost impossible for me to single-handedly cover it all- especially considering I don't own half of the major cast.

Nothing is currently being done with them right now, but rest assured at any given moment I am rotating Caeru in my mind like a rotisserie chicken.

Overall Genre: Darkly comedic character introspection drama, and grimdark action adventure with a heavy focus on worldbuilding and characters.

Notable Content Warnings: Addiction, drug abuse, excessive violence, PTSD, C-PTSD, self harm, suicidal tendencies and thoughts... okay, maybe this one is kind of a dying dove too.

Main Tag: #rp stuff dwbi for primarily general RP content, while #hag for Hood and Greylu's verse in particular (the King of Darkness' verse)

Where to read it?: @official-saltbag and @darkness-regins respectively, however the quality of my old (and I do mean old) writing found on these blogs is inconsistent and contains many plot points and characterization choices I'm not sure hold up well today. While I hold no lingering resentment or specific apprehension about the blogs in general, I would much rather someone read my current work if they are genuinely interested in my writing style... and also they both completely lack a chrono tag, so good luck properly reading through them without a saintly amount of patience.

Mistakes, Curses, and Mockeries: An half-constructed project I've been thinking about for awhile now. Who knows what it is... but knowing me? It's probably gonna be really stupid.

Overall Genre: Court intrigue, with a touch of romance and mystery for spice. Steampunk-magitek-medieval-fantasy mixing pot of a setting with the occasional cyperpunk jumpscare. Also, time shenanigans. Honestly may-or-may-not be veering dangerously close to psychological horror. Actually set in the same general universe as APF, though the stories don't overlap in any way.

Notable Content Warnings: Major character death, dehumanization, dissociation, existential terror about forgetting everything that you are, insufferable nihilists, potentially even more insufferable fatalists, colonialism

Main Tag: N/A

Where to read it?: well first you get a shovel and second you start applying it directly to my skull to get the brain out for advanced noclip telepathy strats... is what I'd usually say, but there's actually a singular fic set in this setting now! I know, I'm shocked too.

Hello! In honor of my birthday I was going to post a fic everyday of November, but I decided a good old "why not make it an event". The primary aspect of this event is to do/create what makes you happy and to have fun!. (Reblogs welcomed!!!)

Each day has a theme and three prompts to accompany the theme. The prompts are their just to help In case the theme alone doesn't spark the creative juices, but the prompts don't have to be used.

I am an artist and writer who's work mainly specialises in horror, thriller and splatterpunk stories which means my work can get very dark from time to time. I don't mind if you want to draw NSFW of your OC with mine, however if you want to draw NSFW of my OC with the OC of another artist, please make sure that they're okay with it first. Do not draw NSFW of my OCs with artists who have said they're uncomfortable with NSFW fanart.

In real life, I am both mentally and physically disabled, having autism, ADHD, depression, chronic fatigue syndrome and also hypermobility which makes me very wobbly on my feet and having terrible co-ordination.

Because of this, I need people who speak to me to be patient. I can't always, nor do I always want to talk. I will always answer questions, though!

I am from the UK, SE London specifically, and I enjoy showing British culture a lot through my characters and art, hense most of them being British. (I know y'all hate British people but please don't cook me I just enjoy where I live, mostly💀)

I also love stuff like kidcore, dreamcore, weirdcore, backrooms stuff, 2000s and Yk2 things + aesthetics!!

What else? Well, I'm 20 irl (My birthday is on the 20th of January) I'm also aroace, meaning I have no romantic or sexual interest in anyone, and I'm not really in any particular fandom- apart from maybe TF2. But I do have my interests! Like TF2, Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, and my OCs! Rn my list is shorter than it normally is lol

Anyway, if you plan to talk to me long term, please note that 90% of the time, I copy speech patterns with whoever I'm talking to. It's not done in a way to insult you or copy you, I just do it on habit and it makes me feel comfortable.

Hi! I'm a mainly digital artist and I use the name "moth" online. I mainly post my art on Youtube in the form of Speedpaints, but I'm on here to interact with people more and see others' art easier :]

welcome! my name is kodiak, but you can call me kodi, if you want. i'm a 32 year old male who lives on the east coast of the united states (GMT -5) and am currently a stay at home parent. i won't always be the most active, as this is a way to relieve stress and somedays, my mental health and home life will require me to be absent here. i will always do my best to at lease check in, and i will happily share socials with mutuals i regularly interact with. i've been writing for 20 years now and as sam for a good solid nine. he's really special to me and i am excited to share him with you. you're always welcome to message me in ask or dm, so long as you understand that a slower response isn't me ignoring you. i love to make friends and cry over the chaos we create.

i take a very firm semi-canon approach to my portrayal of sam, and while i do absolutely use canon aspects in my development, i also take my fair share of creative liberties with my writing. if you find this uncomfortable, i encourage you to unfollow. at the end of the day, your dash needs to be safe for you. i write a wide array of ships with sam, but i don't tend to lean into shipping. i will tell you about my ships if asked, otherwise, i will just keep them to myself unless they develop. i will be writing themes deemed NSFW, including and not limited to horror, gore, violence, drug use / abuse, sexual activity and mentions of past assault, as i am in agreement with the fanon that sam has at the very least been victimized by lucifer. all darker / triggering themes will tagged accordingly and should you find me posting one you need tagged, i encourage you to come to me and ask. you're free to do it on anon, so long as you're polite about it.

my blog will contain mun chatter, ooc chatter, and muse posts. i will also post headcanons and small works i do on my own. i will be creating a tag for all these things, and i will update with that tag so you can avoid it if it bothers you. if at any time you are curious about anything to do with sam, me, or the blog, feel free to ask. i want to warn that due to needing my dash safe and contained, i will not follow every person who follows me back. it is not personal, and not following doesn't mean you're not welcome to follow me and interact. just please mind posts labeled 'mutuals'.

when writing, i will use a mix of gifs i have hoarded over the years (i made NONE of them) and icons i've made myself. my writing style is scattered and while i can never be sure if you're getting a novella or a one liner, know you will always get the best of my abilities in replies. i will be remaking my icons, but for now, you get my old season 15 ones. if i use anything made by anyone else, i will be sure to include credit to them on my disclaimer page. if you notice i somehow used something of yours and you're not credited, please politely reach out so i can fix that for you.

CONTENT WARNINGS AND TRIGGER WARNINGS FOR THIS BLOG ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Mental Illness

I write Tate Langdon as being an undiagnosed personality disorder. I was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, but I don't think Tate has BPD (he might?) and I also don't think he's a psychopath, like Ben Harmon diagnosed. I read that more as Ben Harmon just trying to be cutting and cruel in that moment, instead of giving a professional diagnosis.

Bad language (albeit censored)

Tate Langdon has a bad mouth and curses enough. I am going to censor these to the best of my ability because I am not trying to get into the habit of swearing anywhere... facebook is annoying about cursing and stuff... and it's my main roleplay platform.

Dark themes

American Horror Story covers a lot of dark themes like murder, r*pe, self-harm, ghosts, death, and what not. I will not cover r*pe and sometimes I forget that Tate Langdon r*ped Vivien Harmon. As someone who struggles with r*pe as a trigger, I'm not sure if I pretend it didn't happen or make Tate remorseful... but regardless, I don't really want to mention it anymore.

Horror elements

At the end of the day, American Horror Story is considered a horror show. It may not be scary, but elements from horror movies and novels and what not are all present in American Horror Story and will be present in this blog.

Heads up - I do not strictly follow canon and I do take some liberties.

RULES:

Do not metagame - Example of this is: Tate Langdon is a ghost, but due to the ending of American Horror Stories, I write him as wandering around Earth. He would look human and alive to anyone who sees him without knowing him.

Definition: Using ooc knowledge to influence the plot when your character has no relevant knowledge or awareness.

Do not godmode. I write as Tate Langdon - please do not start writing my replies for me. Please don't tell me how he feels about something your character did, that is up to me.

Definition: taking control of another writer’s character during rp.

Do not feel you need to match my length. Tate Langdon is a character I feel a lot of passion for because I've had him for so long and so sometimes my replies may be very long.

I get excited. You can ALWAYS DM me to ask that I shorten my replies. I may be rusty as he's been shelved since 2016… but yeah.

4. Do not pressure me to write smut. I don’t feel comfortable. Tate Langdon is still 17 years old.

He may have had sex with Violet Harmon in season one, but I don't feel comfortable writing smut regardless, espeically given he is under 18 and I am over 21.

My ONE trigger does not apply to Tate Langdon - it is teacher x student. I am not comfortable with it and it causes me a bit of distress. I’m listing it just in case.

PREFERENCES:

I don’t feel comfortable writing with minors.

While I am an adult, please respect that I do not feel comfortable writing smut. I will not write smut with Tate Langdon because he is 17 forever.

I prefer third person and novel style when writing as Tate Langdon, but I will still write with you if you write asterisk/script style or in 1st person. I would just have to reply in third person/novel style.

I write both #crackrp & #seriousrp — it’s whatever I am in the mood for with Tate Langdon. All of my posts are open, even if not specified. They are only closed IF I state that it is a closed roleplay.

If you really want to reply to a solo/drabble that I posted for Tate Langdon, you can go right ahead. I do not mind in the slightest.
