In terms of this story, it is good to know that @otomeanimemanga-fandom-writer is my second Profile where in 2021 posted my own works that had not received much visibility.

This is not even everything. There are at least three more of these. Total plagiarism. Even the GIF of those posts is taken directly from the original. And they probably didn't know that my "main blog" is this big. Probably they just deliberately targeted a small blog so that this wouldn't become such a big deal. This really says a lot about their morals.
And if that's not enough. Nope.
They still had to take @silversparkz art and post it on their own account and still admit that it is not their doing. They didn't even tag the original artist on it. And a mere mention is definitely not enough.

That is really shameless and gross.

The last fucking thing I expected to see just now coming onto tumblr is to find out my work has been plagiarized. Someone literally took my writing and is getting attention for something that took me hours and even technically YEARS to get done. I am fuming right now.
I’ve been in this fandom long enough to see how plagiarism hurts for everyone but I never expected to be the one who had work stolen from and it feels terrible.
Not only is this girl taking my work and claiming it as her own, but also bragging about taking one day to write it. What? It’s disrespectful. People who have followed me from the beginning know how my pieces do not just come out in a few hours. How someone can do something so cruel is beyond me. My work is years worths time.
Please report this person and do not engage with their posts. They’ve apparently been ignoring messages calling them out, and they choose to ignore it. This is unfair.
This is just heartbreaking to see.

All my hours and literally years of hard work.
Thank you for all the messages of everyone warning me. I tagged the Bucky reader tag because I keep seeing this girl getting mad traction for my work and it’s ridiculous.
I’m still at lost for words right now. Please report her:

Wow. Today i just realized someone from another app plagiarized my whole original writing from my old post about the asteroid varuna but they just translated into a whole other language and they really think that i won't noticed it 😃. Google translate literally exists.
(Ps : i just realized this today and the plagiarizer did that and posted that like many months ago)

Stolen work
I get to wake up this morning to an email from someone telling me that Little Girl Lost (my SQ story) has been blatantly plagiarized and is being sold on Amazon and Barnes and Noble under the title, Little Girl Lost: A Magical Mishap (B&N link). Finding the right help on Amazon is such a test of patience. Anyway, the person who told me said Plush Books (B&N link), the folks who stole Little Girl Lost, have over 500 books. So, if you're an author, you might want to check and see if these guys stolen something from you or if you're a reader, you could check and see if you see something familiar. Happy hunting. Shout out to the reader who told me! Ridiculous.

Hello, everyone. I’m back, and I bring bad (and tbh, sad) news.
I received a message that someone from Archive of Our Own copied my work “gojo’s service to an artist.” This actually breaks my heart because, as a small, independent writer, I still worked hard on creating my works and no other writers like me deserve to get their works plagiarized.
Tumblr media
They have copied my work, word for word, changing only the character’s name and title. Their post has been up since July, and I’ve only known it today. How many of their readers thought the work they read was original and truthful?
I have reached out to Gravybubble by commenting on “their” work, telling them to apologize for misleading their readers and plagiarizing my work (I have also told them to take it down, but I am yet to receive their response).
I’ve posted this to bring light to such issues. All the stories I’ve put here on Tumblr for you to read are vulnerable to plagiarism. I hope you, my dear readers, would notify me again when you see another work of mine getting put on other websites without my knowledge and referencing my work. As a community, I hope we will help each other in times like this.
You can access the plagiarized work here: https://archiveofourown.org/chapters/100844292?show_comments=true&view_adult=true&view_full_work=false#comments
I hope you will help me in this matter (as well as keep our community safe and respectful here on Tumblr).

Hello. I have had my work stolen around 10-15 times while writing on here. It’s always been on either wattpad or AO3.
I don’t have an account. And while they didn’t copy and paste my story, they clearly ripped off my idea.
If you have an account or know how to report this account, please do:

So this keeps posting on my dash as one of the many obnoxious ads that I usually skip though, but then I looked closer and realized that it looked suspiciously like Dramione art. And very nicely done. However I didn't see any artist's signature, which leads me to believe it's stolen art. So I'm posting this to hopefully get the word out to the original artist to let them know that their art is being plagiarized. However if they've sold the piece, this ad is now what's it's being used for.
NGL it keeps tricking me because I want to ❤️ the post to show my appreciation to the artist.

hi! just wanted to make sure you’re aware that sniperxx0 on wattpad plagiarized your eddie fic say my name
For fucks sakes. Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention! I just can't even with this. Like, who in their right mind thinks it's okay to steal people's work! I went to go and check, and I don't know if they have removed it or if they could have it hidden, but I have taken the time to post something to them (as well as noticing a lot of people calling them out for stealing others works). Makes me wonder if I should start posting my work to Wattpad also now. But again, thank you, and I will be keeping an eye out on them for a little while.

why was that random no profile, no post, no like blog looking that deep into wsab’s tumblr, all the way back to may around the same time you see that extra kudos on your fic? seems a little coincidental to me 🥴
Ah yes, I created a new account, sent myself anons directing me to an old post on her account, went and somehow managed to make her like my story, and then orchestrated all of this in my wild scheme to make her look bad.
Tumblr media
Y’all gonna be my villain origin story, I swear 🙄
I will say I found the creation of the account to be a bit odd and am somewhat skeptical about any attempts to cause drama, but from what I can tell (assume), they were an anon who made an account after I asked them to show me proof of what they were saying (I don’t think anons can submit anonymously? Or can they?), so that I wouldn’t just be riled into going and making baseless accusations.
Either way, I like how you’re purposefully ignoring the fact that wsab blatantly lied.
Gimme a break ya walnuts.

damn ai art discourse is insufferable because it consists of people knowing exactly zero aesthetic theory having very strong opinions that they condescendingly deliver to others knowing exactly zero about ai

obviously people steal things from other people it's one of the oldest tricks in the book but it still always surprises me to learn that people plagiarise because my introduction to the concept was basically being told that if i ever plagiarised anything i would be executed by firing squad and my head would be removed and displayed on a spike outside the walls of the hallowed academic institution i was attending as a warning to others

Things I've seen tumblr memeing about James Somerton doing à la "How did no one see how bigoted he was!" as if those things haven't been a significant part of tumblr culture for over a decade :
Presenting untrue and bordering on conspiratorial versions of (queer or otherwise marginalised) history without any sources
Completely disregarding and disrespecting any expertise on socio-cultural topics/humanities and distrusting academics and historians (incl. acting as if no academics or historians could be queer or marginalised)
Downplaying the role misogyny played in the historical oppression of queer women and concluding that queer men must have been more oppressed than queer women
Bi women are, at best, not as queer as "real" queer ppl, and at worst, simply equivalent to straight women
Despite nominal trans inclusivity, transmasculine ppl are functionally women when convenient (combined with the above, bi transmascs are functionally straight women)
Despite nominal trans inclusivity (bis), shamelessly attacking, threatening and actively endangering any trans woman who questions them or smth they find important (often by unfairly presenting her as violent or as a threat)
Having absolutely fucking wild and reductive takes about ace ppl, the oppression they face and their place in the queer community
Stating that marriage equality is an assimilationist fight while completely ignoring its direct roots in the horrifying consequences of the AIDS crisis for partners of ppl who died of AIDS
Praising western media creators from the past for queer coding even under censure and in the same breath condemning current non western media creators for being homophobic bc their representation isn't explicit enough
Blaming China for all existing homophobic censoring in western media
Assuming all queer media would be better told by western creators and by western standards
Only out queer ppl get to tell queer stories
Heavily criticising almost all queer media created by women or ppl they see as such (see above points about trans ppl) or involving/starring a significant amount of women for any perceived or real amount of "problematicness", but fawning over and praising and negating criticism of queer media created by and starring mostly or even functionally exclusively men (even when it could be argued that, you know, not involving/seriously sidelining women is a pretty clear example of misogyny which should probably be considered "problematic")
And I'm probably forgetting stuff or there's stuff I have internalised myself and don't recognise as an issue
Like idk but I feel like the takeaway from Hbomberguy and Toddintheshadow's videos should maybe be "be aware of such patterns in your communities bc they definitely exist" and not "this guy is uniquely awful" and I feel like a lot of the discussion I've seen surrounding this has been severely failing at that. Most ppl who've spent any significant amount of time on tumblr prob either have internalised at least one of those thought patterns, have had to de-internalise them, or have had to be extremely vigilant to not internalise them (which is done by, you know, seeking out other sources, which also seemed like an important takeaway from the videos)

A new tool lets artists add invisible changes to the pixels in their art before they upload it online so that if it’s scraped into an AI training set, it can cause the resulting model to break in chaotic and unpredictable ways.
The tool, called Nightshade, is intended as a way to fight back against AI companies that use artists’ work to train their models without the creator’s permission. Using it to “poison” this training data could damage future iterations of image-generating AI models, such as DALL-E, Midjourney, and Stable Diffusion, by rendering some of their outputs useless—dogs become cats, cars become cows, and so forth. MIT Technology Review got an exclusive preview of the research, which has been submitted for peer review at computer security conference Usenix.
AI companies such as OpenAI, Meta, Google, and Stability AI are facing a slew of lawsuits from artists who claim that their copyrighted material and personal information was scraped without consent or compensation. Ben Zhao, a professor at the University of Chicago, who led the team that created Nightshade, says the hope is that it will help tip the power balance back from AI companies towards artists, by creating a powerful deterrent against disrespecting artists’ copyright and intellectual property. Meta, Google, Stability AI, and OpenAI did not respond to MIT Technology Review’s request for comment on how they might respond.
Zhao’s team also developed Glaze, a tool that allows artists to “mask” their own personal style to prevent it from being scraped by AI companies. It works in a similar way to Nightshade: by changing the pixels of images in subtle ways that are invisible to the human eye but manipulate machine-learning models to interpret the image as something different from what it actually shows.
