I've started seeing some posts on different socials from people buying/selling human remains (which is legal in many countries if they were in circulation before stricter laws were created). If you are thinking about buying human remains for personal use, I urge you not to. Most human remains on the market have not been ethically sourced. It is more likely the bones are from a grave robbery (historically pauper and plantation burials) than from an individual who donated their body to science. People's bodies deserve to be respected even in death.

If you are interested in human bones, there are lots of options to study them outside of higher education that are not ethically questionable! I've listed some options below :)

BoneViewer: Boneviewer is free and allows you to see the bones in 3D, and you can rotate them however you like. Their images are also well lit so you can see a lot of the features you may not be able to see in amateur photographs. They also have images from other primates if you want to compare.

Bone Clones: If you have the money to buy human remains you likely have the money to buy good quality clones of bones. Bone clones is the golden standard for quality recreations, and they have a wide catalogue. If you can't dish out a few hundred dollars, there are cheaper versions you can find online.

Textbooks, manuals, and photo collections: You can get most textbooks about bones from Library Genesis! I've listed my recommendations for beginners below :)

Recommendations:

The Human Bone Manual: All of the professionals I know have read this book, and we all use it in the field, it's a great resource and covers all the features of the bones well.

Forensic Anthropology: Current Methods and Practice: This is a great introduction to the discipline and covers everything from documentation methods to trauma analysis.

The Bone Book: Good Pictures!

I absolutely hate when people are like "I hate x animal because they eat trash"

Like, who the fuck do you think put the trash there in the first place???

It's not the animal's fault that we've littered everything so much and taken so much land that they have to resort to eating trash

Anyways, I'm just rambling because I have a pet pigeon and I'm tired of people looking at me as if I had a disgusting creature in my home, pigeons are lovely animals, they only eat trash because that's all they have in the cities, if they could, they would be exclusively feeding on grains, but they can't be picky when living in the city

Also, that acidic poop is because they're malnourished, a well fed pigeon won't have poop like that

ANY FLAVOR BESTIE I AM SO SERIOUS. married for ten years. pining for fifteen. friends to lovers. ENEMIES to lovers (I've had a villain Mic/vigilante Aizawa (+pro hero Shirakumo!!) AU percolating for literal months that I can't wait to share). they are THE most versatile ship on the planet. the angst. the silly. the LAYERS. I'm not much of a shipping person in general but every once in a blue moon a ship will come along and bonk me over the head with the brainrot mallet and erasermic is one of those ships. when I DO do the shipping thing, I've always had a soft spot for friends to lovers and oblivious/mutual pining, so that's probably why I love canon compliant erasermic fics so so much. Nine Lives (by machiroads, for anyone who has not read it, in which case I cannot recommend it enough) will always be The Erasermic Fic to me. It's canon idc. but!!! there is room in my heart for so much erasermic. I will never run out of space for them. most long-winded way of saying any flavor but I mean it when I say I enjoy pretty much every iteration of this ship.

does anyone else feel weird about the (years old now) trend of people describing their gender based on aesthetics? considering the context of a cultural obsession with aesthetics stemming from the individualistic push to define yourself independent of community? so that capitalism can divide and isolate us while also pushing more products on us?

not to mention that it just reinvents the wheel. it is not actually liberating. you just decided that instead of male and female the genders are tree and star etc.

gender has been made to equal personality, which is same the line of thinking that sexism is based on. it's just being turned into some kind of psychological determinism rather than biological.

instead of resisting socially-prescribed boundaries, they're given an expansion pack and a fresh coat of paint, and no change is actually made.

i know at least by the finale he doesnt think troys coming back but i have decided abed keeps a note in his notes app of things to watch with troy/stuff to tell him juuuuust in case. the note is so fucking long by now.

I think britta told him to start it at one point, not too long after troy left and abed didnt really care to much to do it but eventually it becomes a habit. something cool happens? something mundane that troy still would’ve been happy to hear happens? someone said something funny? etc., its in the note

at one point he just starts putting all of his thoughts about every new episode of inspector spacetime into it. he adds small details like “got a new shirt” next to bigger Shenanigans like “ran out of gas in an RV in the middle of nowhere with a giant hand strapped to the top of it. flashing back didn’t help.”

anything he’d would’ve told to or experienced with troy he adds to the note. eventually britta notices that he regularly pulls out his phone and Types for a While and she is so impressed with herself because of it

He basically joined the bakudeku antis (idk if he still is this way, but the beef will remain), and was like ‘you can’t ship them, Bakugou hates Deku’ and was really shitty to fans who had asked him about it, and was as vocal as he could be about how he shipped Bakugou and Kirishima.

I understand being pissy about being asked the same stuff over and over, but he was just. Plain rude to people? I think that’s the part I’m mostly like, ‘oh. that guy, ew.’ About with him.

I remember he said something along the lines of like ‘I voice this character, and I can tell you that he will Never like Deku’. And even at the time in the manga canon they where getting along better? I hope he ate his hat when canon stuff happened (I haven’t been caught up with bnha ever, and maybe that’s something I could do next year, but I have been spoiled, and seen the one cover from, was that last year or the year before?? 😭 I don’t even remember oof)

how can people hate pigeons? they are not pests or vermin. even if they poop on your belongings or make a nest on your property, it is important to be kind to them anyway.

we bred them and kept them as food, pets or workers. now we don't need them anymore so we just got rid of them and they are left to survive in our cities. they aren't pests. they don't stay in our parks, streets and buildings to bother us. they stay because that's where we left them. and no matter how much we hate them, they still kinda like us.

please be kind to pigeons and remind them there are people who still like them.

Every time I see something about someone in a fandom (or the creator of that fandom) doing something problematic (e.g. doxxing, discrimination based on race/religion/gender/sexuality/disability/literally anything, etc) I just think to myself "Wow! Can you be normal?" Because I'm fairly certain that some, if not all of those things are pretty much illegal.

Why didn’t I text back? Sorry bout that, it’s just that the process of being digitally connected all the time feels so genuinely unnatural to human nature that it fills me with rage.
