Posted @withregram • @fiatfarmrussell Yesterday we delivered 362 pounds of meat to the Shepherds of Good Hope on behalf of the Fiat Farm community — the first 100 Nourish the Hungry sponsorships worth! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We asked Geoff Smith, the Shepherd’s rep who received our delivery, how many people he thought would be fed with the meat we brought in. He told us that they use 50lbs of meat to feed 250 people. According to our calculations, that means: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ -15 to 20 people are receiving a portion of meat for every sponsorship delivered ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ -100 sponsorships = food for approximately 1800 people!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is only 1/3 of our goal! Thanks to you, dear Fiat Farm Friends, we’ll already be bringing in over twice this much, since we’ve already reached over 200 sponsorships (217 to be exact!) Repost from @harmonyhillside Yes, dreams do come true. But they're a lot of work! 😅 . Patty and I had a dream of our own little farm when we first bought this property three and a half years ago. Reality was a long way off. The house was unlivable at first and took a major effort to renovate. That was work—and it's still not finished. Many thanks to our family, friends, and church for making it possible! . Next we worked on establishing gardens and fruit trees in the hard clay soil. That was work—and there's a lot more to do. Again, the load has been lightened by friends and family who pitched in to help. . Finally, at the end of last year I was able to turn my energy toward the hillside. An eroded patch of earth choked with towering thornbushes and "weed" trees—it wasn't exactly ideal farmland. But we named this place "Harmony Hillside Farm" because we had a dream. Clearing the hillside and putting up a fence by hand—that was work. . Every spare hour through the fall, winter, and spring has been spent on that hillside. I never could have done it without my industrious dad, who worked alongside me in the heat, the cold, and the rain. And through it all, my Father God has graciously provided the health, resources, wisdom, and strength to persevere. 🙏 . Today, looking over the cleared pasture and nearly-finished fence, the view feels surreal. No longer is Harmony Hillside only inside my mind. It is here in front of me, taking shape in real life. What can I say?
