Dana, the young Sole Survivor of Vault 111, returns to the Railroad HQ with Danse, both having to come to terms with what they are. In doing so Dana turns to her pseudo-parent Jules, once known as Courier Six.

It had been a week. Running from the Brotherhood, almost Fucking over Hancock, actually Fucking over Marowski, assisting the Railroad and a robot called ADA. I was all but ready to collapse. My feet ached, my head hurt, Hancock was giving me a look that told me it was obvious that I was exhausted. My hands were deep in the pockets of my dark duster; I was physically defeated and seriously overwhelmed. The circular table before me had a new piece of paper upon it, notes on the new safehouse that had been established. 

The HQ door creaked open. No one was surprised when Dana wandered in, MacCready at her heels. Briefly, I was drawn from my tiredness at the sight of her. She looked as bad as I did. Dark circles under her eyes, a slight stumble to her step, the stains of tears still on her cheeks. MacCready’s jacket was slightly damp, his rifle gripped in whitening knuckles. 

He made eye contact with me as another sole entered the room. I stared at him, almost unrecognisable out of his brotherhood uniform. Almost unrecognisable in a plaid shirt and jeans. Despite the different attire, the tension in his shoulders is hardly disguised. I want to scream, to push him against the wall and question what he’s doing here. But I couldn’t. I was exhausted, and he looked unsure of himself. His eyes darted around the crypt and his hands were shoved into the pockets of the jeans he’d found. 

Dana stopped in her tracks, eyes widening as she saw me. She clears the space between us and grasps me in the tightest hug she’d ever given. She sobbed. Her hands grasped at my jacket. I pulled my hands around her, stroking her deep red hair that was pulled back into a fraying braid.  

MacCready steadily made his way over, a knowing look on his face. 

“She’s been through a lot.” adding nothing else as he found a seat to drop into. His eyes closed almost instantly, his hat tipped from his head to cover his face. 

Dana doesn’t let go, she doesn’t stop crying. 

Steadily I shuffle us towards a podium, bringing myself down against it as she collapsed in my arms. 

Danse loitered by the door, seemingly unable to enter any further. Hancock and Deacon, who had been travelling with me, had disappeared from sight. 

Dana curled up in my lap, her knees pulled up to her chest. 

“You… You left me.” She whimpered through her sobs. 

“I know,” I choked back my own tears, continuing to hug her, “I’m here now. I’m not going anywhere.” 

Dana lifts her head, meeting my eyes. “Even if I’m not a human?” she looked suddenly angrier, her voice became significantly quieter. “Even if I’m just a machine, technology that's gone too far?” 

I know those words, they are not her own. They are the words of a man who does not know the meaning of humanity, “Dana, hey, look at me.” She does, “What you are doesn’t matter to me, I care about what you do, who you are.” Gently I wiped her cheek. “I’m not going to leave you because you’re different, because you’re more tech than other people.” She gave me a sad smile, wiping her tears from her face. “And hey, if they aren't going to accept you because you’re part technology then I’m doomed.” 

“Why?” She enquired with a small laugh. 

“I’m probably more tech than you are.” 

She gave me a large smile, before turning to Danse. Clambering out of my lap, she dragged herself up to her feet and trudged over to him. Seamlessly she struck up a conversation with him, taking his hand and leading him further into the crypt. Agents exchanged similar disgruntled looks and glares towards him as I had, but turned back to their work when Desdemona looked over at them. She was definitely going to have things to say about the situation but I didn’t care. 

 Something had happened in the weeks or so since Dana had entered the Institute, she’d found out something I’d suspected for a while. Found out she’s a synth. How didn’t matter in the moment, and how Danse entered the situation was something I’d discuss with them later, though I had my suspicions.  

From my position on the floor, things seemed to fall into place. Big things were coming and Dana was the centre of it all. The Brotherhood were beginning to make bigger and bolder moves, and the Institute was likely to respond twofold. But none of that mattered. Dana was back, even if something had changed. She was back and she was safe.

Hemlock (Tav paladin): massive James T. Kirk fan. Also Dana Scully from X-Files. That sort of "chaotically-stubborn but incorruptible" character would appeal in-general, as does that sort of long-running, only-occasionally-high-stakes sort of TV show. I feel like Hem wouldn't hate specific characters so much as they'd hate specific sorts of writing — grimdark and tragedies are very much Not For Them.

Century (Durge cleric): I saw Rocky Horror recently and literally all I can think of is Dr. Frank-N-Furter. 🤦 Which, uh... tracks, I think, with the sort of person Century finds themself attracted to. I also think they'd be viscerally bored by the sort of shows/protagonists that Hemlock likes lol.

How do you see the d&d ogl stuff affecting fanworks?

Not at all. Because existing D&D-related fanworks weren't relying on the OGL for permission to exist, and are largely not charging money to anyone, I can't see how this would affect them in the least. It's designed to affect publishers of OGL content, such as Paizo, Green Ronin, and many others, who are producing written content for pay based on D&D's rules. Unless someone out there is making buttloads of money off their fanfic that is identifiably D&D (e.g. using setting or rules-specific terms), it won't matter. And I mean buttloads, since as I understand it the new OGL's royalties terms only kick in at $750,000.

Fanworks are instead governed by the Fan Content Policy (which rules out things like offensive content for instance, and requires fan content to be freely available). This is the version that's been in place since 2017, and no one from Wizards has come to AO3 to demand the removal of fanfic content or anything like that.

The other thing to generally bear in mind is, WOTC can't control widespread concepts like "wizard" or "paladin" or "elf" or "gnome." They didn't invent those and they don't own them. It's perfectly possible to make fanworks based on D&D that would not be recognizable as D&D-the-game, if that makes sense. Unless someone is using rule-set specific terms made up by WOTC creators, then it's just some generally fantasy-themed OCs going on adventures. Spell names are a big one here, e.g. if you say someone casts "Tasha's Uncontrollable Hideous Laughter" that's recognizably D&D, but if you say they cast "a spell that causes their enemy to be unable to stop laughing", or you make up a new name like "Dana's Forcible Hilarity", that's not specific to D&D. I assume, without having in-depth information about its production, that this is how the Vox Machina cartoon was able to be made without D&D's involvement, for instance - change the names of identifiable spells (e.g. "Bigby's Hand" becomes "Scanlan's Hand") and specific class powers/monsters/gods, and you're in the clear, because they don't own the concept of fantasy adventurers, they just own the mechanics and game-specific content of D&D.

What towed guns and self-propelled howitzers does each army operate? 

A tweet posted on July 17 by Shashank Joshi provides a very interesting chart comparing both arsenals.

 To make it short, 

Ukraine is believed to have about 1,000 howitzers and 200 MLRS, both shooting a total of about 4,000-5,000 rounds a day, 

while 

Russia is believed to have about 3,000 howitzers and 1,300 MLRS, both shooting between 20,000 and 50,000 rounds a day. 

Needless to say that the following figures are impossible to check or update, as it is generally the case with OSINT (Open-Source Intelligence). Let us go deeper in detail in the comparison made between both sides’ artillery in the attached chart. Light towed howitzers (100-122mm) Ukraine has about 

200 howitzers in the 100- to 122mm caliber range:

100 D-30 122mm (15.3 km range). Russia has about 750 howitzers in the 100- to 122mm caliber range:
