#overhaul loves cats

We're at one of my favorite parts of the story (and probably one of Vash's least favorite parts 😬😬), where we get to see how much Vash's family means to him

In book 1 of trimax, the Doc tells Brad that Vash's concept of family extends to the entirety of the human race

...So a Man revenge-killing a murderer isn't just 2 humans committing various levels of violence against each other (at differing levels of justifiable), it's 2 families members hurting each other and Vash can't bring himself to not try and stop it. Even if you understand *why* they fight, you probably wouldn't want your cousins to kill each other in front of you, right? And Vash struggles with it, because some of these people he's saving really do deserve the bullet reserved for them; but at the end of the day he still doesn't want to watch them to die.

And over the course of volume 1 and 2 of trimax, the story repeatedly brings up the question (either overtly or through subtext) "What would you do if you your family was in danger? What lengths would you go?"

Which leads us to the first big fight for this question when Vash's actual, closest living thing to a loving family is under attack. His anguish is palpable to everyone alive in the room with him, his wrath is close to deadly, and every new room he finds with more puppets just hurts him further. But even when he's faced with a monster that has destroyed his one vestige of safety in the world, even if that monster has talked about how he wants to do the same to him, he still can't bring himself to kill him! He even goes so far to try and spare him!

Not because of any specific moral reasoning (even though he's given one to Dominique before), but because before he was Leonof the Puppetmaster, he was a little boy named Emilio that loved his father's bread and had a crush on a girl named Isabel. He was someone that Vash knew, someone he recognized, and someone he undoubtedly cared for greatly at one point. And even if he couldn't save him, he at least had to try, because he was family at one point too.

And of course, it's not all pain and suffering for Vash, because when he wakes up in the hospital ready to blame himself for not being able to save everyone, Luida cuts him off: He did the best he could, he saved lives despite the losses, and at the end of the day he's still family to them, too. Even if the rest of humanity views him as a menace, there's still someone out there who reciprocates his love in a way that doesn't hurt him.

And boy, you can see how much of a relief (and source of stress it is for him) on his face lmao

leaders are. leaders theyre not special really. they do all the big major decisions and hold ceremonies

deputies are the second in command and the primary communication between the leader and the rest of the group

seers are nuns, basically. they talk to God and Dead People and have advanced medical knowledge

medics are. well theyre doctors? like regular doctors with only a mild sense of spirituality

medical apprentices are just that. theyre in training to be a full medic

midwives are just what they are irl. they keep close with queens and medics to monitor pregnancies and kits

keepers are medical helpers. think of them as nurses. they get supplies and are generally trained in all medical fields (including midwifery) and can easily fill any position. also help with kits and apprentices as they figure out how life works; sorta like teachers

stewards are sort of like social workers. they deal with emotion-relationship focused conflict and take care of younger cats especially

elders are old

queens are cats with kits in the nursery. pregnant or not. can include permanent queens, and temporary bodies for warmth in the winter

kits are 0-6 months old. from 3-6 months they begin to transition to helping with camp chores.

- 0-3 months theyre like babies, taken care of and not expected to do much

- 3-6 months theyre in preschool/kindergarten. they do little things

- 6-12 months theyre expected to learn the territory and basics of hunting, fighting and medicine

- 12+ months theyre choosing their speciality and training in depth in it. this can last for 6 months, or three years. depends on position and mentor. by this point, theyre treated like adults. college.

organizers are the managers!! the deputy will tell them what needs to be done (hunting, patrols etc) and they delegate tasks around the camp

hunters are the biggest group- they do ALL of the hunting. their job is to keep the group fed

sentries are the second largest group- they keep borders stable and keep outsiders outside

constructors are the third largest group- they do all the building and camp keep up. den roof fell in? which constructor is nearby?

messengers are the speedy ones. they run messages to other groups, and bring information (+gossip) back each day

Love over Law chapter 3

Series tw: animal death, violence, trauma, parental neglect

Chapter 1 • Chapter 2

A young tom winced as his shoulder collided with the ground and the older warrior leapt on top of him. Battle training was not going well today. He sensed anger in his mentor, but he wasn't quite sure why. Sharp teeth snapped much too close to his ear and he heard a frustrated growl.

"You let your opponent catch you off guard, yet again."

"Sorry?"

"When will you ever learn, you have to-"

"Maybe when you've actually taken the time to train me properly," yowled the apprentice, wriggling out from under his attacker. "All you've done so far is throw yourself at me and expect me to know what to do! I've only been your apprentice for three days; cut me some slack!"

The warrior sighed, the anger fading from his eyes as he realized the truth in his young charge's words.

"My apologies, Nightpaw. I wasn't thinking straight. Maybe Redstar was right and my head isn't what it used to be."

The old tom lowered his ears remorsefully. Nightpaw tilted his head, feeling a pang of sympathy for his mentor. No one wanted to feel useless; the old cat just wasn't ready to let go of his glory days.

"Well, you've gotta give yourself some credit; I mean, you're pretty tough for a gray old tom," Nightpaw said with a grin.

He wasn't wrong; Hickorytail's dusty brown fur was much more heavily gray-flecked than it had been in his youth, but he was still a strong fighter. He just needed to be reminded every now and again that his apprentice hadn't had nearly as much experience as he had himself.

The old tom chuckled softly, grateful that his apprentice didn't hold a grudge. "It's a good thing I have you to keep me in check. Sorry again for being so hard on you. If I'm ever being too rough, make sure to call me out on it."

"I'm all right, Hickorytail, but what were you so angry about? You seemed troubled even before you got the jump on me."

Hickorytail gazed at Nightpaw, puzzled. He hadn't even realized he was upset about something, yet somehow his apprentice had picked up on his agitation.

"Was I now? I don't suppose I noticed. I can't think of anything in particular that would've gotten my fur ruffled the wrong way."

Nightpaw was studying him now, his eyes- one blue, the other yellow- fixed on his elderly mentor. The young cat was deep in thought, strange for a tom his age. He came out of his trance-like state with a knowing look on his face and asked, "Do you think maybe you're unsettled because Redstar tried to send you to the elders' den? Are you angry that he thinks you're too old and weak to serve your clan? Are you... afraid? That maybe your time is running out?"

Hickorytail's green eyes went wide as he considered Nightpaw's questions; he was startled to find that the answer to every one was "yes."

"Why… I suppose you're right… How'd you figure all that out?" the old cat asked, incredulous. Nightpaw shrugged and answered, "My mother says I'm very observant. I was watching the other day, when Redstar told you it might be time for you to settle down. I saw the look on your face, noticed how you worked extra hard after that, bringing in more prey, doing more patrols, to try to prove him wrong. And… I saw how shaken you were, after we buried Lilydawn. I know you two were close, but it was more than just grief in your eyes. There was fear, as well. She had already moved in with the elders, but she was the same age as you were. I think you're afraid that accepting the new title is accepting that you're that much closer to the end."

Hickorytail's jaw dropped in shock, both at the bluntness of the younger cat's words and at his own realization of how true they were. How had this young, inexperienced apprentice seen- and put into words- what he hadn't yet comprehended in himself? Nightpaw was quite observant, but beyond that, he had a gift for understanding. The old tom was speechless as the tabby continued.

"There's no shame in being an elder. You have served your clan long and well, and it's high time you let us serve you. Don't be afraid, Hickorytail. Sure, you're getting on in years, but look at Stonefoot; he's a good bit older than you, already an elder, and he's still around and healthy. Just because you change your routine doesn't mean you're out of time. Your final day will come when it comes, and there's no point fearing or trying to prevent it. But would you rather take it easy and spend your days delighting kits with your stories, or refuse to face the facts and work yourself to death?"

Hickorytail was utterly taken aback. Nightpaw was wise beyond his moons, that was certain. And he was startlingly blunt in such a topic, but insightful, too. The elderly tom actually felt a bit better after hearing what the young cat had to say. He knew, deep down, that it was about time for him to retire, and for the first time, he thought he might eventually be at peace about it. How strange, that a cat so young could put all this into perspective.

For now, though, Nightpaw's wise side was turned off. He had said what needed to be said, and now he could go back to being a regular, rough-and-tumble apprentice.

Their Lumpy Bits

THE DEMON BROTHERS | 0.5k | SFW

Lucifer is a workaholic and only takes breaks to chase his brothers down when they get into trouble. Plus, all that Demonus has to go somewhere, right? He likes to look good and thankfully he has one sibling with a keen eye for fashion. His clothes are perfectly tailored to emphasize his height and radiate a sense of power, while hiding how formidable his body is underneath. His lumpy parts are his tummy and ass.

Mammon is fairly active and keeps busy with all his part-time jobs and modeling gigs. (Plus, outrunning Lucifer.) He's slim, but still soft enough to cuddle with when he crawls into bed and paws at you for attention like an affectionate cat. His lumpy part is his ass—and he wears pants that show it off, too.

Lumpy otaku Levi, who hides in his room and covers his little lumps in his baggy, oversized clothes. It's so easy to forget that he's the Grand Admiral of the Devildom's Navy, but the smartest demons will warn you that looks can be deceiving. Lotan is a handy trump card too. His lumpy bits are his tummy, thighs, and ass. If you have the courage to reach out for a little squeeze, he might just reward you for it.

Satan would rather read and study than most other things. He's surprisingly soft—most people just don't get close enough to know it. His fashion choices tend to make him look a bit lumpier than he really is. Asmo has tried to overhaul his wardrobe in the past with limited success. Satan likes what he wears he thinks his clothes are comfy—he doesn't get what all the fuss is about. His lumpy parts are his thighs.

Asmo loves what he's got and he flaunts it. His confidence only adds to his irresistible charisma. There's an outfit for every occasion, and his impeccable fashion sense highlights his best features. Some days he dresses down and is utterly charming with an air of confidence; other days, the slim cut of his clothes and carefully planned patches of bare skin radiate his sex appeal. His lumpy bits are his thighs and ass.

Beel is probably the least lumpy of his siblings, most of the time. It depends which part of his workout cycle he's in. If he's bulking up, he's extra lumpy and he could use some cuddles and compliments to reassure him you like him no matter what he looks like. If he's cutting down, he's less lumpy—until the process repeats itself. His lumpy part is his tummy.

Belphie isn't as lumpy as you'd think considering how much time he spends in bed, but he's still perfect for snuggling with. He's a little skittish and hides his lumpy bits from view, so you know he trusts you when he stops wearing pajamas to bed. Besides, his bare skin is softer and can keep you warmer than those flimsy clothes ever could. His lumpy parts are his tummy and thighs.

help i'm alive

So! Long time, no see. 2023 was a whole goddamn lot lol

I don't have a demo update to share yet, but that's because I had to scrap nearly everything I managed to write during a very, very, very bad stint of writer's block last year. I hadn't even realized it had been a block like that until I went over my work so far last month and realized it was bad -- like, trust me; a slog to read that didn't even sound like me. It's been extremely frustrating but I've finally broken free of that and it's been easy and actually fun to write again for the first time in actual years. I just hate giving updates that have no actual news in them. And I really had nothing to share other than: I deleted thousands of words and feel so much better now 😅

Anyway, little about my demo plans have changed: I'm still putting out the Chapter 3 demos in Choicescript/on Dashingdon and then will be going dark to move things over to Twine. Where I am in the process right now is... feeling like 35% done with the overhauled version of this chapter and 50% done for the next demo update.

As far as asks, I'm... not really sure what to do?? I believe I've read them all (I love you guys), but so much time has passed since getting most of them that I'm not sure if it's, like... still pertinent??? To go back and answer them?? I suppose some of them like character asks could be, but all the nice messages of support -- that feels weird since I've practically ghosted this blog since August! Idk. Y'all tell me what to do with 'em and I'll do it. Maybe I should make a poll.

Uh... that's really all there is to say regarding the game! I've added some personal stuff after the cut, but if you're done here: Thanks for reading and sticking around. It means the world, for real.

So what has occupied my time all this time? Doctor, therapy, money, and friends. And improv! But especially the first two. There was a lot of non-writing related stuff fucking up my ability to focus and write, so hopefully with my mind and body both feeling a lot better, I can get back to being present and active with the game. I didn't realize how physically unwell I was until last year and it's been like... life-long issues I've been treating. It turns out it's not normal to feel exhausted enough to sleep at any given time, at all times, for your whole life! wow!!

I also uninstalled Tumblr from my phone back in February, so you could say I'm sort of generally focused on offline life. (And what an interesting coincidence that my writer's block dissipated shortly after that...) I also just moved!! The last two weekends have been so expensive and stressful -_- But I can't even compare the old place to the new. We're basically paying the same price for idek how much more space. The cats are so happy; which means the house humans get to be happy.

My schedule is finally freed up from constant medical shit (there was a 3-month stretch this winter with multiple doctor appointments literally every fucking week 🙃🙃🙃). My mental health is doing a lot better -- literally incomparably better compared to where I was this time last year. There's live comedy now (which I dabble in, to be clear lol), but I've finally found myself able to like... balance it all. The physical and creative energy that goes into it all, anyway. The lovely thing about improv is that you kinda just show up and do your thing -- it doesn't cut into my writing time so much as it costs energy. Unless I end up in this comedy debate show thing next month, which I am very excited to give up writing time for

So like... Life is life-ing and I'm just vibing. Or something? I'll be around.

Having some fun just absentmindedly thinking of titles for the BB overhauls of main arc books. I think I'm gonna do it for all of them, because I actually really like renaming these and explaining my thought process

But here's TPB for now, because it's on my mind after that little scene bundle I wrote

The Forest Four

It's the intro to the original four, y'know? Plus, I use this term all the time in Clan Culture entries to specify when something is different about SkyClan from the "Forest Four." Makes sense it's the arc title.

Plus, there's a bit of a thing going on, especially in the later books, where the number of the Clans comes up a lot. Three Great Clans, but only four modern ones, River and Shadow combine to make TigerClan leaving three, BloodClan would make four, LionClan's alliance leaving two...

In BB, they know about SkyClan in history lessons, but Firestar doesn't think about it much until after this arc is done. More importantly, his choice to spare Scourge at the end of the arc suddenly means there's a Forest Four, and a Town One. I just think that's interesting.

(for some reason I also just love Scourge's insult where he calls Firestar a "forest fool" lmao. four forest fools.)

Into the Clans

The book with the expanded intro to the culture of the Clans. I feel like it's more fitting for BB to not call it "into the WILD" because... well, Clan cats DON'T see themselves as ""wild"" like animals. They're in Clans, with culture. They have ranks, politics, family, and even cooking and little kitty tools. It doesn't really make sense to me that they define themselves as "wild" just because their home has nature.

To them, loners are who's "wild," y'know? Rusty isn't totally coming to the Clans because it's wild, he's coming because of the community. Friendships and bonds with cats like Ravenpaw, Graystripe, Frostfur, Spottedleaf, Bluestar, and the sense that he could belong here. That he matters to these people.

This title's the one I'm actually waffling the most on, though. I don't like it very much yet. I don't feel like it captures the feeling I'm going for. It's also really close to a field guide title.

Thermal and Undertow

I've always interpreted "Fire and Ice" to be about how differently Graystripe and Fireheart are as people, and how that starts pulling them apart. The thing that people focus on is their "reconciliation" at the end of the book, but what stands out about it to me is that this is the book where Fireheart's TRULY integrated into the Clan.

His friendship with Graystripe is strained because of the HalfClan relationship Gray gets in, and he starts looking back to his roots for comfort because he doesn't feel like he's completely part of ThunderClan. I love this irony; they're BOTH struggling with loyalty in this broken system, experiencing types of xenophobia that prevent them from having happiness, but not yet wise enough to recognize they have a similar problem.

They're both breaking the law to talk to outsiders. Their forbidden love, both familial and romantic, makes Clan life harder. They're BOTH not doing anything wrong, but the STRUCTURE of their society is setting them against each other.

Graystripe responds, eventually, by leaving. Fireheart thinks he can make a home where he is. They're both wrong. The STRUCTURE needs to be challenged.

And meanwhile, they must go to fetch WindClan after it was driven out. They have to face RiverClan AND ShadowClan when Crookedstar and Nightstar show that power acts through them, as leaders. All the while, they experience the simple truth that love for cats in other Clans makes cruel, bloodthirsty battles like these too difficult to be sustainable.

And that's just canon!! I fucking love this book!!!

So in the rename, I'm putting emphasis on the natural flow, above and below. A wind is controlled by the temperature, rising up into a warm thermal. An undertow is a ferocious current that will pull you into the cold depths. They're not so different, in the end.

Forest of Flowers

And that leads right into canon's Forest of Secrets, where we learn that the older warriors also struggled with those pressures. Fireheart and Graystripe were never alone, cats have been suffering under this cruel system for GENERATIONS.

In BB, this is where I'm dropping the flower symbolism for the three major branches of politics in Forest Four society, which persist and are expanded on for the rest of BB;

Traditionalism, represented by the Honeysuckle, is used to justify the current system. "The Clans are branches of a honeysuckle bush. We fight and strangle each other for the light, and this prunes the weakest sprigs and rewards the fittest. When the winter comes, the strongest branches ensure the survival of the bush."

He also learns, much earlier, of Tigerstar's mentor. He hears the Parable of the Thistle, a story about how a young apprentice was forced to attempt to uproot a bull thistle, only managing to spread its seeds across a clearing, and won a trip to the Cleric's den for the trouble. How Tigerstar, and others, believe the honeysuckle must be challenged.

And meanwhile, he uncovers the story of the Forget-me-nots. A friend group even stronger than his collection of allies, with cats of every Clan, and how ambition drove it apart. How Bluestar looks back at it with both silly shame and deep appreciation.

The kindling ember in Fireheart's chest as he realizes he is the heir of a Forget-me-not, and that surrounding the obvious slash across Tigerclaw's nose, are the subtle pockmarks of thistle thorns.

Rejected Rites

I feel like Rising Storm is the "weakest" book of TPB, because it's where canon's cracks begin to show.

There's still a lot I love about this book. I love the way that Bluestar's cruelty arc begins with her grace and altruism towards other Clans not being returned without a catch. I adore the rescue of Bramblekit and Yellowfang’s guilty, harrowing death insisting she deserves judgement as Fireheart insists she is a good person. Its harsh ending revealing Tigerstar as leader of ShadowClan is a gut punch in an already brutal book, making an excellent mid-arc climax

But I feel its sudden turn towards suggesting the status quo was actually good drags it down.

For example, Cloudpaw is constantly arguing with Fireheart, in ridiculous fights Fire started. He's abducted by humans and returns in the same book, suggesting his uncle was totally right all along and he Totally Promises he won't mess with humans any more. The fact Fire was projecting on his young nephew and denying him answers when he questions their way of life, in a way very similar to the shame Firepaw himself went through, is not addressed.

A lot more of this book than you remember is also dedicated to Fireheart and Sandstorm arguing because the writers think a good romance is when you hate each other but stay together anyway.

So instead, this book in BB focuses more on what I DO like; Fireheart learning to be a LEADER. He's young, inexperienced, and has acted mostly alone up to this point. The Clan is in a moment of SERIOUS tumult as it reckons with how no one saw ANY signs about Tigerclaw.

As he loses his mentor Bluestar to paranoia, he has to learn which warriors are truly trustworthy, and try to win back those whose loyalties might stray.

In this way, Rejected Rites is about the WHOLE Clan. It's Whitestorm throwing his reputation and experience behind Fireheart. It's Goldenflower and how her disgust with her ex-mate blows her mind open and she shifts into Fire's most ferocious champion. It's Mousefur deciding that Tigerclaw was a uniquely bad person and refusing to admit fault with a Clan that supported him.

And of course it's about Cloudpaw, grappling with how Fireheart insists he's his mentor, not his father, not his friend, going back to how he botches the Queen’s Rights on bringing him to the Clan. Fireheart, too, is a flawed person capable of being complicit in damaging systems.

The Hunting Trail

The dog plot barely needs a recap, it's this fandom's bread and butter. But there's a small, VERY popular misconception about; in canon, Tigerstar only uses the dogs at the END of this book with a rabbit trick. Before that, the dogs are practically a natural disaster he has nothing to do with.

There's a reason why it's misremembered. It works better if he's more involved with them the whole time, showing how DANGEROUS he is, how Bluestar's fixation on her war with StarClan is blinding her to reality, and adding to the tragedy and madness by having Swiftpaw getting wrapped up in his father's/stepfather's quest for revenge.

So in BB, Tigerstar's involved MUCH sooner. He freed the dogs.

The title change reflects that. There's a hunting trail and the cats of ThunderClan are its prey, but it doesn't specify who the predator is. In the end, it was Tigerstar's scheme all along and Bluestar sacrifices herself to save her apprentice.

(I also want to take the moment to highlight how short-sighted and impulsive Tigerstar's plans actually are, something I find fascinating about him as a character. He's malicious and intelligent enough to make some incredible schemes, taking advantage of every opportunity. But he never accounts for details like... "what if my dogs don't go right to where I want them to go?" or "what if I'm not picked as deputy after I kill Redtail?" or even "what will i do after my demons kill all the living cats?")

TigerClan is also forming earlier. It begins in THIS book. Stonefur and Mistyfoot are "detained" after leaping into the ravine to rescue Fireheart and Bluestar, it's all the "evidence" Tigerstar needed to accuse them of divided loyalty. To finally start his persecution of HalfClan cats.

Before the Dawn

...In spite of its iconic moments, I'll be honest; Darkest Hour is actually the book that makes me the angriest about the original series.

All arc long, we are shown that the Clans are flawed. They have been, long before Rusty set foot in the woods that day. It NEEDS bigotry to exist the way it does, fostering xenophobia between Clan cats so that love and friendship won't get in the way of violence, encouraging and even rewarding extreme Jingoism, and even setting clanmates against each other for these senseless problems instead of the STRUCTURE of Clan society.

Darkest Hour SLAMS the breaks on that theme, and brings the message to a screeching halt.

FIRST of all, this is the book where it's explicitly stated that StarClan "doesn't interfere," even giving them a moment where they yell at protagonist about free will or whatever while simultaneously barking a vague, ultimately useless prophecy at him. The first of many scenes like it in later arcs. It feels completely and utterly out of left field, instantly turning StarClan from a mysterious, possibly not even fully benevolent force, into THE most annoying plot device ever.

Secondly... BloodClan.

BloodClan is introduced as a TRULY EVIL group of horrible atheists who hate love and friendship, to the point of banning families, and are now here to destroy our glorious society and steal our home. They're depicted as being ruled by fear and brutality, unbound by concepts like "honor" or "loyalty." You cannot reason with them or spare their lives, the barbarians must be killed and kept out, lest they replace us.

(there is even a moment where it's implied that if the soldiers lose the war, BloodClan will come and murder the elders and children too.)

It is SO bad and SO egregious, and it's played completely unironically. It bothers me so badly I've talked about it before. Multiple times, actually

After Tigerstar gets his well-deserved grallocking like a 10-point buck, the endgame villain of TPB is a foreigner and his army. Scourge is a foil of Firestar himself, but THIS one hates the clans and doesn't worship the right god, which makes him dangerous. Firestar is textually stronger than him because of his faith in StarClan.

At the end of the day, TPB, and the rest of the series that follows, doesn't refute Tigerstar's ideology. It even agrees. Weakness IS abhorrent. Outsiders ARE to be distrusted. Split loyalties ARE detestable. It just didn't like that he challenged the status quo.

Foreigners and their leaders ARE less trustworthy and more villainous than Clan cats. Wariness and even violence towards them is necessary, "justifying" the isolationist structure of the Clans. Scourge is only the first in a very long chain; then comes Sol, One Eye, Slash, and Darktail. Even Hawkfrost and Willow Tail can fit into this pattern.

With the death of these evil, troublemaking cats, the Clans return to the status quo. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

The Darkest Hour frames this like a wonderful, triumphant thing, with Firestar noting how the now-leaderless BloodClan fighters look so inferior to Clan warriors, Scourge's evil will never haunt them again (Tigerstar gets to be grieved though), and that with LionClan disbanding, they will all return to their petty bullshit squabbles.

So, BB's renaming.

I had a lot of ideas. I really liked the name "Moment of Truth" because it's the book that really brings together the theme of the arc, ending with Firestar realizing Scourge is right to distrust the Clans and that change is DESPERATELY needed, but the more I thought about it... the more I liked Before the Dawn

Reference to the phrase "The darkest hour comes before the dawn" BB is a much more optimistic story than canon, by tweaking the themes and details while following the major beats. Something is just... idk poetic? About picking the more uplifting part of the idiom. It feels right, like it's almost too perfect to go with any other title

It's a new era for the culture going foward It IS right before a "new dawn." It's the start of major changes to Clan culture, setting the events of the rest of BB into motion. The years and generations that follow are going to see major changes to the code, territory, culture, and philosophy in the universe. The choice that Firestar makes here is going to bring the Clans into a new epoch. Plus the cats are crepuscular now so I can literally have the final battle take place just before dawn because subtext is for CHUMPS

I like the idea of opening up the next arc with Dawn Just because that's really funny to me lmaoo. Something is cute about titles that reference each other. Maybe the first book of TNP could be "Dawn of the End" since the destruction of the forest starts early. Maybe add in some apocalyptic prophecies and such...

List of Khajiit CC Mods I Really Like

While not quite as hard to find mods for as Argonians and Orcs, good Khajiit mods do tend to get little love.

Also, I purposely left out the fluffy body texture mod and HDT tails here, because I hate them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anyways!

Khajiit Overhaul - the best part of this mod is the heads. They're high poly, but unlike the Khaj heads from High Poly Head, KO actually fixes the unnatural grimace vanilla Khajiit have.

There are options for new, bestial feet and a toe-walking stance as well. I recommend loading your texture mods after it.

Con: the male head sucks, imo. The nose is all wrong. I recommend using katiexmongo's preset as a base.

Lioness Look and Khajiit Male Lion Textures - personally, I hide everything from Lioness Look but the textures (the head is cool, but has issues with the mouth clipping). While not the best quality textures, they are patternless, which I honestly think looks better with markings in general.

Alternatively, CoverKhajiits is higher quality.

Khajiit Character Creation Extended (K.C.C.E.) - extension for RaceMenu that gives you more sliders for Khajiit faces. It is so good, seriously, you should get it ASAP if you don't have it.

3D Khajiit Brows - you know have cats have whiskers on their brows? This gives you 20 options of brow whiskers for your Khajiit.

Separated Khajiit Earrings for Character Creation - gives you some RaceMenu slides that let you give Khajiit earrings for each ear, regardless of hairstyle.

Beast Race Body Paints - adds some Khajiit and Argonian inspired markings for RaceMenu (personally I wish they were a little more inspired by actual feline markings, but oh well it's got some nice stuff)

Better Beast Race Scars - a higher quality and less saturated look for scars

More Beast Race Warpaints - tbh, I made my own RM overlay mod with these textures (they're great) so I can't speak to how this mod works with SE

Vanilla Warpaint Absolution - HQ update for face paints. I like the option to make it look a bit more like fur. Also has warpaint conversions, so you can use any regular human warpaint on beast races (and have it look right.)

Serval Khajiit Race - even if you don't want to use this (adorable!) new race, it replaces the vanilla Khajiit tintmasks (basically, eye liner, lip paint, etc) with what I think are vastly improved ones.

Note: it also replaces eye textures, so you will need to load any eye texture replacers after it.

Khajiit Hair - two really HQ and pretty hairs

Better Claws and Gauntlets DAV - I recommend this version over the original for its distribution method (DAV is really cool)

Natural Eyes - despite it being old as hell, this is the mod I like the most for Khajiit and Argonian eyes right now (I delete the rest of the textures.)

LM's Beast Teeth - not sure that this works with KO, but they look super nice compared to the gross grey vanilla teeth

Gave Shadow his Riders shades (but Yellow) and made the underside of his gloves black like his cuffs. I mean his Shoes follow that logic, so Why Not his gloves?

Updated Rouge to be more akin to her Heroes appearance -- I really like the Purple Gloves and Shoes.

Changed the color of Silver's eyes to match his powers -- it just Felt Right. The belt is Entirely Pointless as of now, and the Gloves being black is Inspired by his Secret Freedom Fighters outfit (which Yes I know is originally a Thing from Sonic Rivals but . I mostly read the Comics as a kid Okay)

Shard's... shard, doesn't change color with his eyes in this AU. He also has.. TWO hands??? Gasp??? (But they Both can now turn into Various Things) Enjoy the Evil Fisher Price Color Scheme (for when you are Evil and have Yet to learn the Error of your Ways)

Changed Nicole's outfit once again, the one I came up with Before didn't feel very Sonic-like to me. I gave her some Chest Fluff because I thought it would be cute and match her Face Fluff better (which itself was changed to look A Bit more like a Lynx.) I overhauled her Design a Significant bit to try and fit my Outfit Criteria ... I do love her Original Gloves and Shoes from the Reboot Archie Comics however.

SDV Aesthetic Mod Recommendations (1.6 Edition!)

I’m back with more mod recommendations that work with 1.6! This time, we’re gonna focus on stuff that mainly just changes how things look: recolors, portraits, animal skins, etc. No major gameplay changes, but the visual changes can really enhance the experience or make the game feel totally different! Again, links will be in a reblog. And you can check my ‘sdv mods’ tag for my other recommendation post!

So starting off, recolors. I have three that I really love: Vibrant Pastoral Recolor, DaisyNiko’s Earthy Recolor, and Starblue Valley.

They all tone down the saturation and give everything a softer, more natural look. Vibrant Pastoral is probably my favorite because it makes the scythe-able grass look like it’s full of wildflowers! Also of note, Starblue Valley’s 1.6 update is a work in progress, so some parts might not be properly recolored. It’s such a pretty recolor, but you might want to just track the mod for now while they’re hammering out the kinks.

Next up, portraits! First, I wanna talk about Seasonal Outfits.

I love that vanilla has beach and winter outfits now, and this mod takes that ten times further! Not only are there outfits for every season (with matching sprites), there are also unique outfits for festivals! I love all the Halloween costumes for Spirits Eve! There are seasonal mods for Stardew Valley Expanded and Ridgeside Village too!

Next, Nyapu’s Portraits.

I love the cute, old school Harvest Moon vibe these have, but one of the really great things is that Nyapu has made portraits for almost every modded character in existence. I’m fussy about getting my portraits to match, because it’s just weird when you’ve got totally different art styles for different characters, and that is a non-issue with this collection! If there’s a character mod, there is probably a Nyapu portrait. SVE and RSV are just the tip of the iceberg! Also Nyapu is a real life farmer when they aren’t making adorable portraits, which I think is just cool!

I made a post earlier about Elle’s Cuter Coop Animals/Barn Animals/Cats/Dogs/Horses, but it’s worth mentioning again because they’re just too cute and the huge variety of different colors and species is unmatched.

And I mean. Highland cows. Just look at them. Elle also has mods for seasonal farm buildings and farmhouse kitchens with lots of different options! You really can’t go wrong with any of Elle’s mods.

And speaking of farm buildings, one of my absolute favorites is Gwen’s Medieval Buildings, and matching mod, Gwen’s Medieval Craftables.

The antique, overgrown vibes are just gorgeous.

If I do UI recolors, I usually just pick one that matches my recolor (Vibrant Pastoral, Earthy Recolor, etc) but I recently discovered Lavender Dreams UI Recolor and I adore it.

The colors are just so nice and soft, and the accents of moss and leaves in the menu is just delightful.

I’m on mobile and running out of pictures, so I’ll just talk about the next three that change your character. First is Female Farmer Overhaul. Despite the name, everything is available to any gender, although the style is definitely more feminine. It adds a lot of new hairstyles, clothes, hats, and has the option of short or long sleeves so you’re dressed appropriately for the season!

Next is Animated Hair. It makes your hair move as you run, use tools and so on. There are lots of hairstyles and it just looks so nice!

And one last one, Expressive Elf Ears. Like Animated Hair, they move around with your character! They are so floppy! If you want a little fantasy flavor to your character, they’re a must.

once he comes to terms that you are in fact, perfectly healthy and have simply peculiar taste in things and are different from what many people would consider normal.

he'll simply go on with life.

as in he still takes care you, talks to you as normal,does his regular kooky man with a OCD problem things.

now one may think he doesn't care but they would do so, so, so wrong.

he just thinks it's as normal as having dyed hair or liking cats more than dogs or taking medication that's liquid over pills.

just another thing that adds to how special and unique you are.

every now and then he'll get you a little pride flag or pin (sanitized ofc) but that's as much as he'll do unless you ask for it.

because to him,

your amazing and unique and ever so incredible and is willing to love you no matter what you are.

It would, 100%, be Mikey that finds Dee. I love the whole role reversal of it all.

And honestly, it's pretty surreal for everyone involved. B/c they didn't expect Dee to ever come back. They all assumed he was dead since the last time he was seen was when a giant cat mutant grabbed him while talking about food.

So suddenly Mikey comes across this purple clad turtle just sitting in the middle of a sewer pipe staring blankly at a wall, and he thinks it could be Purple (but even if they're not, he can't exactly leave a fellow turtle mutant alone in the sewers, especially in whatever in-shock state he seems to be in.) He takes him home and wraps him up in blankets and gets him some hot chocolate, basically just trying to get him cozy and comfortable to help with whatever mental or emotional stress he seems to be under. (he tried to get Dee to take off the battle shell but he would not part with it.)

as for the other two, I was going to do a comic about it but it was giving me hella trouble so yeah, no comic.

Basically, Raph sees what Mikey brought home and immediately starts lecturing him over bringing strange mutants back home with him. he also vaguely accuses mikey of trying to replace Purple (they never gave him a different name due to thinking he was dead) with this new mutant, which Mikey does not put up with. They end up bickering in the kitchen loud enough to wake Leo from his nap.

Leo, on the other hand, skips right over joining the verbal fight and takes a look at the newcomer.

Leo, sees the very familiar marks on this guy's shoulder and immediately recognizes him. (that's his twin, of course he's going to recognize him first.) So, upon recognizing him, he chirps at him. It's a very specific chirp that was only ever used between Blue and Purple when they were young. Splinter had called it their 'twin chirp.'

That snaps Dee out of his mind enough that he quietly does the chirp back.

For the next several days Leo refuses to leave Dee's side, taking him with him whenever he switches rooms b/c 1) Leo does not want his twin to leave his sight again, and 2) Dee is very overwelmed by everything that's happened (still happening?) so mindlessly following his twin around gives him time to process. (not that he does much of that. As soon as Leo is asked to fix something with Dee around, Dee does it instead and it snowballs into Dee's 'i'm going to distract myself via projects so i don't need to deal with emotions' mindset. and an entire lair overhaul.)

My Gameplay Style

Rotational Play: I switch households every in-game week, giving each household 7 days per season. I've disabled neighborhood progress to keep stories fresh and unexpected (though, oops, sometimes I slip up with the settings!).

Wants-Based Gameplay: My Sims' desires drive their stories. I aim to fulfill their wants, letting autonomy stir up some delightful chaos along the way. Remember ACR? Yes, those unpredictable moments are back!

The Sims 2 Vibes: I've modded my game to mirror the feel of The Sims 2, including aspirations, hobbies, and those quirky chance cards. Dice rolls and creative twists keep things interesting.
