Is the ship really “toxic” or is one or both of them just traumatized and not necessarily able to show love and affection in a healthy way but still trying to be a better version of themself and always supporting and protecting the other?

We really need more stories like Elemental.
Just stories that are bursting with light and happiness and are predictable but still fun to watch.
There have been too many dark and gloomy stories with no happy endings lately and I’m frankly sick and tired of it. Show runners claim that it’s because in real life you don’t always get a happy ending but that’s not to say you can’t ever be happy. And even if an ending isn’t “what you expected” it should still feel like there is resolution and hope for the future.
Yes, this is 100% about The 100 and Sex Education. Not even gonna lie.

Watched sex education season 4 and honestly i don't get the hate around it. The two main complaints are:Otis and maeve and the new characters being boring.
The thing though is that otis and maeve would NEVER work since the american writing group plot was established. If maeve never went back to america just because of otis it would leave us with maeve giving up her only opportunity to chase her dreams for a man(something completely out of character for maeve) . No one would like that. From the other hand if that plot was never established then there would be no reason for season 4 to even exist since their love story would have been completed in season 3(Except if they just threw obstacles through all of s4 which would have been forced and annoying). That season was essential though for many of the other characters stories which we needed to see. So i can't understand what the viewers really wanted.
About the new characters being boring, yes i can't disagree with that. They were kind of boring but cute nonetheless. But i believe the writers INTENDED to make them boring. If they had brought up a new set of amazing, interesting characters with great stories the focus would have been shifted to them. How were they gonna finish the stories and plots that they had already started for the pre-existing characters if they took from their screen times for new charas. Also the show beyond everything is sex EDUCATION. The new cast was used as a way to tickle new topics which they did really well. Then of course they couldn't have not been added since a new school would obviously have new students. So I see the viewer's point of them being boring but there are reasons for that and really they weren't THAT bad.
In general I can't say season 4 was exactly A MASTERPIECE. I have some complaints as well(otis and eric's friendship) but i appreciate what they gave us and honestly i think it was a decent season. Definitely fun to watch.

ARGHHHHH. I just watched a Motis scene from season 1, and DAMN why did they have to do them so dirty (not referring to their break up, just their connection in general)?????!!!!! JUST WHY??? And poor Otis deserved better writing. I really miss season 1 Otis, and I get that people have flaws and everything, but why did they have to make him so unlikable in later seasons? It was too much. I honestly liked season 4 overall, but Otis didn't deserve to be ruined this way. And Motis deserved much better (but I did really like the break up scene and letter). I still think Asa and Emma did a brilliant job though. But fuck the characterisation of Otis in season 4 (and parts of season 3), seriously.

you guys remember when jacob in sex ed said “People deserve your whole heart, Otis. If you can’t give the that, it’s better they know. It’s the kinder thing to do.”

Sex Education- Otis
Finished series 4 and honestly, I thought it wasn't too bad. They pretty much gave every character a sensible ending (Eric becomes a pastor, Mr Groff is finally proud & accepting of Adam, Aimee finds her passion, Maeve follows her career dream) but leave enough ambiguity where it's necessary (what happens to Jean's work & relationship to Dan). The only person who has absolutely no story line is Otis.
Otis starts off fearing intimacy, not knowing what he's interested in, having a frosty relationship with Jean. In the middle of the series he conquers all these issues (is able to have sex, runs the clinic & becomes closer to Jean). All of these elements, however, are destroyed at the end: he's suddenly afraid of sex again, is arguing with Jean & has given up the clinic to O. The person he adored, "his person" is no longer with him and so he's kind of just left in a vacuum. Little to no character development...why did they do this to the main character?!
On a side note, his intimate scene with Maeve was abruptly finished..minimises the effect that scene is supposed to have on us.
Thoughts?

SEX EDUCATION BRIEF FINALE THOUGHTS
Hot take: Otis and Maeve are fucking terrible for each other and it's good the show didn't have them together in the end
More for Maeve's sake than Otis cause he's just a terrible person lol
I have a lot of feelings about the final season and especially the finale with how...lacking it felt and the underwhelming way a lot of arcs ended (outside of Aimee and shockingly the Groffs I don't like where any of them were handled) but this was honestly the right decision
If they were real people I just think Otis needs to work through his self-absorption, attachment issues and relationship with his mother before he could even consider getting into a relationship
I don't dislike season 4 as much as others seem to but I also felt the writing was on the wall from 3 which was also all over the place. I love this show but it's probably for the best they didn't continue

hi! i just read ur thoughts on sexed's s4 and i agree! i did also notice that the new characters' writing fell flatter especially compared to the prev side characs (who had more seasons anyway in the first place), but i definitely wouldn't have had it exchanged with less screen time for the main characters, whose continued arcs were amazingg imo. the new characs were great + i think essential for characterizing the new school too. i'm also interested to hear your thoughts about otis and eric's friendship if that's alright? :0
YES THAT'S DEFINITELY ALRIGHT. So eric's and otis' friendship was definitely my favorite throughout the seasons. It was a very deep friendship and i loved both characters very much. However i have some problems with the way they wrote them this season. First of all, the problem in their friendship ONCE AGAIN was that otis was too concentrated on his own stuff and didn't give any attention to eric's problems and general life. That's something that they did with otis and eric both in season 1 (where they treated it gracefully and did a great work in fixing it up) and in season 3. I can't understand why after two times of throwing them this obstacle they STILL bring it back after it's already been resolved. And if it hadn't been actually resolved back then which would explain why they're bringing it back that would make most of their arcs useless. Then my other problem is otis' apology. I don't disagree that it would make sense for them to have this awkward tension because of their differences(race, sexuality etc.) but that was NEVER shown or even implied before otis' apology, it felt like they were just looking for a way to differentiate this fight from the previous ones. Also otis' apology didn't involve AT ALL the fact that he was ignoring him AGAIN for DAYS even though that was the actual issue. ANYWAY THAT'S MY OPINION IT'S ABSOLUTELY OKAY IF YOU OR ANYONE DISAGREES. THANK YOU A LOT FOR ASKING I LOVE TALKING ABOUT THIS STUFF.
