This week alone saw Atlanta-area raids by law enforcement that took a woman out of her house with no shirt, left a naked photo of another woman on display after ransacking a room and dragged a man by his hair – while arresting none of them.
The pre-dawn raids on three houses on Thursday were the third Swat-style operation in residential areas of Atlanta and nearby unincorporated DeKalb county tied to a movement that began in 2021 – and the first in which the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) played a prominent role.
The fight against Cop City has attracted national and global headlines, especially after police shot and killed one environmental protester at a campsite in a public park – the first such incident of its kind in US history.
At least one of the search warrants for Thursday’s raid seen by the Guardian authorized the FBI to confiscate dozens of items from the raided homes – including laptops, cellphones, “Defend the Atlanta Forest” stickers and posters and personal journals.
The operation came after weeks of Atlanta officials promoting a campaign to catch activists linked to arson against construction and police equipment, all the while activists have been committing more acts of sabotage, alternating with nonviolent, civil disobedience.

Oh my gods, suddenly going feral over—
Legolas Greenleaf long under tree
In joy thou hast lived. Beware of the Sea!
If thou hearest the cry of the gull on the shore,
Thy heart shall then rest in the forest no more.
Which, yes, obviously refers to the Sea-longing that came upon him at Pelargir, and of which he later said:
To the Sea, to the Sea! The white gulls are crying,
The wind is blowing and the white foam is flying.
West, west away, the round sun is falling.
Grey ship, grey ship, do you hear them calling,
The voice of my people that have gone before me?
I will leave, I will leave the woods that bore me;
For our days are ending and our years are failing.
I will pass the wide waters lonely sailing.
Long are the waves on the Last Shore falling,
Sweet are the voices of the Lost Isle calling,
In Eressea, in Elvenhome that no man can discover,
Where the leaves fall not: land of my people forever!
But of course, we know that he did not pass the wide waters "lonely sailing," for he brought Gimli with him...
Because his heart was in Gimli's keeping by then. After the War of the Ring his heart dwelt in glittering caves under the stones of Rohan; his heart rested in the strong and gentle hands of a dwarf. The very same dwarf who then sailed that Sea with him, and after dwelt beside him in Elvenhome ever-more. It was no longer the forest that held his heart: it was the solid dwarven stone of Gimli's soul.
Fuck.

It always amuses me when people call the Lion-Turtle's appearance "convenient" or something similar.
Yep, it sure is convenient that an omnipotent, all-knowing being would appear to the One Who Is the Mystical Bridge right before he faces his Ultimate Test in the Final Days of the World. Sure is neat that the most ancient and colossal creature on the planet would choose to summon the boy who will stand in the path of the man about to burn the forests*. As ships of steel and smoke drift into the sky so they may rain fire in the blazing wake of a centennial calamity, it's impossible to comprehend why the Last Guardian of Nature Itself would choose to approach the battlefield.
Truly, questioning this plausibility of this chapter proves that you have progressed beyond childish acceptance of cartoon fairytales, and are now capable of seeing where the author's hand provided unearned aid. That's literary comprehension.

I'm working on a Merlin fic rn where Merlin's perception of time gets all weird and I'm worried that the way I'm writing it will come off as me not knowing how to write coherently instead of me being deliberately disorienting with how the events are structured lol

How much do the clans understand about the radio collars? Have they made the connection between the collars, the trail cams, and the two leg gifts? Do they understand that they're being studied, or do they just categorize it all as "twoleg weirdness"?
Clan cats are scared of humans. They're aggressive when they get too close, definitely related to trauma stemming from the destruction of the White Hart Woods.
They removed Millie's radio collar (ironically) as soon as Graystripe re-entered ThunderClan, and intentionally yank off any more the team has tried to put back on them.
They definitely know the cams, collars, and traps are related. If they get too frustrated, these things get destroyed. This could be very expensive. The team is VERY careful to not put too much pressure on them, both for the sanctity of the research, and for the safety of the public.
After all, what if they start feeling stressed out and lash out at Sanctuary Lake's visitors? It would be unsafe for everyone.
So, the Clan cats don't know that they are being 'studied,' but they do know the cameras are twoleg things. They also know that there are different types of humans, and that generally, they like to watch them go about their days. Smartphones (glowstones) and cameras (flashstones) are actually a sign to relax; a human occupied with a doodad is not a human engaging in Twoleg Trickery.

When the day came the mood of the world about them had become soft and sad. Slowly the dawn grew to a pale light, diffused and shadowless.
I'm very attached to this description of morning light, that's all

it really fucks me up how fiction isn't allowed to just end anymore like. creators will tell a full story that has a clear definite ending and instead of being like ''wow great story !'' it's all ''make a sequel ! a prequel ! an epilogue ! a spin-off ! dlc !"
like maybe move on

You know who my favorite duo to play as in Genshin?
The "Dottore is a lucky mf we didn't chose violence & got varying degrees of therapy" duo
I really hope they do meet because for similar backstories, it's surprising they didn't met or overlap in canon.
Also the dynamic of their friendship would be pretty endearing & a lot of Sumeru needs dendro, which anemo can't resonate with.

my darling. my sweet. come with me.
won't you take my outstretched hands and the claws I've filed dull, for you? won't you fit yourself between my jaws and the soft parts of my gums? nevermind the mushrooms around you, my sweet. nevermind the soft light of the dying sun.
nevermind the way your hair stands on edge at the back of your neck, or the stories that have long since rooted themselves into these woods.
come. would i hurt you?
