The day is Christmas Eve, 1983, and the JSA are having their annual Christmas Eve meeting, and Hawkman (blissfully unaware that his family is about to come to him) suggests adjourning the meeting so that all of them can get back to their families, and Green Lantern (blissfully unaware that fate is about to kick him in the balls... TWICE.) retorts that he doesn't have a family, this is kind of dickish of Alan but like... it's ALAN lol. Suddenly, the old men are being tormented by waves of stupid children, all demanding to be allowed to join the team... and also one of their villains children doesn't actually ask to join the team but he does... for some reason go "when I am asking for help from my father's enemies, the thing to do is to illusion myself to look like my father, and then tear a hole in their wall, wait, why are they trying to arrest me?! RUDE!!! I am sulking now!"

Anyway, since the old men respond... somewhat reasonably to whatever the fuck that was, their kids decide to band together and make their own superhero team, where they get PAID! (less than minimum wage).

Infinity Inc. is an interesting team series that I mostly enjoy because of the characters, a lot of the time in team books the characters all feel the same, and are all at each other's throats constantly, Infinity Inc. presents the reader with characters who all have very defined personalities, even if most of them do share the character trait of "stupid", and by the end of the series you feel like you genuinely love all of the characters and want to spend more time with them.

DC notably decided that all Infinity Inc. characters should spend the next decade dying or going evil btw.

BUT THEN THEY GET BETTER. The Infinitors are kind of notable in that there are entire arcs of JSA 1999 where the old men try to rescue their kids, and all of them end up being considered JSA kids, including Hank who is being chased around the planet by Jay Garrick holding adoption papers (uncertain if this is continuing now that Jay has Judy tbh I do not trust Geoff Johns)

(context, Wildcat hits Hank with the 'kid of a supervillain' stuff well after he thought the JSA was fine with his general existance, my favorite scene because all of the Infinitors are instantly protective, and all of them give vibes of being really close, even if DC refuses to allow a full team reunion)

Honestly in my years of getting people to read Infinity Inc. it's notable that every single time someone has come out with a different fave, and I think it's a testament to the characters being really good, ESPECIALLY HECTOR AND LYTA who are JSA characters and NOT Vertigo characters and Vertigo shouldn't be allowed to stop them appearing in JSA comics.

Also the boys do this in hallways for unknown reasons

What was meant by this?:

Read Infinity Inc. today so you too can be convinced that Hank King should be the next character DC makes gay, unless they decide to do Norda first...

Tbh if I'm being honest they should probably just pull a Young Avengers and make every Infinitor gay.

xiao is a diehard dreamcatcher fan, literally has been there since debut and probably has an almost complete set of photocards for everyone. cried when they won their first award. definitely does live reactions to groups music videos/dance practices on stream. other groups I can see him liking are craxy, nmixx and purple kiss, but also k-bands like xdinary heros and purple beck

aether probably isn't too into kpop tbh💀 he supports xiao in his dreamcatcher stanning but that's probably the only group he actually knows members and stuff lol. he definitely watches survival shows tho and spam texts xiao every elimination episode. doesn't keep up with the groups after the show ends. i can definitely see him stanning eunbi post-iz*one, he makes underwater his ringtone. also stans alexa and watched all of american song contest bc she was his pick during produce 48

jean probably listens to popular groups just bc she doesn't have much time to search out for any smaller ones. can see her liking red velvet, feel my rhythm is her favorite song from them. will listen to any group that any of the people in the au tell her about, and from them I can see her listening to iz*one and purple kiss

childe is payola(/j). no but fr tho, whenever his faves release anything ever he is collecting albums and photocards until he has complete collection. he's rich and so will travel to south korea to watch his groups at inkigayo and music bank so he can get broadcast pcs. he's not creepy tho and so he's on "friendly stranger" terms with most of the idols in groups he likes. at this point, it's a game with his fans to find him in the background of any photos of groups he likes leaving/entering a music show. can see him liking a mix of groups, so probably twice, aespa, cherry bullet, and loona

heizou loves any and all groups that have lore. pixy, loona, stray kids, etc. if they have some sort of lore, then you can count on heizou being a fan of them. probably doesn't collect all that much, he usually just buys one version of an album and accepts whatever photocards are in it like a weirdo. definetly does streams going through groups music videos/etc to look for lore and make theories

Hoshi & Woozi: all I have to say about that is “watch In The Soop”.

S.Coups: tell me this man would not be the sulkiest dude on this planet once you don’t call him a nickname. He’d be immediately hugging or caressing you when you use his actual name. “What did I do wrong?” “Are you mad?” “Do you need something?”

Minghao: he, FOR SURE, would think of it as being a step closer to each other and sort of like a confirmation of your relationship. Seungkwan: something tells me that he’d want to be like his parents and have cute nicknames for each other, so you better call him “honey” or he’d be kinda confused as to where this relationship thing is going

Dino: definitely enjoys it but is still surprised and a little bit giggly inside whenever you call him “babe” or something because he isn’t sure how to ask for a nickname even though he kinda really wants one

Jun: doesn’t expect it, but similar to Dino, definitely smiles really cutely whenever you call him a nickname🤭

Awww, thank you so much! For the kind words and because married couples shouldn't be separated (and also because headcanons overlap), here's the both of them!

1: sexuality headcanon - I suppose they're both demisexual? As in they are the duo that established the Master as Doctorsexual and the Doctor as having a libido rise in the Master's vicinity, so I guess that's the closest term human sexology has for what they have?

2: otp - each other, of course, they very very married <3

3: brotp - for Three it's definitely the Brigadier, for Delgado... this is a bit of a stretch of brotp on parental relations, but the way he accepted that the Doctor adopted Jo so now he too has a human daughter is everything

4: notp - I get a bit of a rise when they are shipped with other regenerations (as in Three with other Masters and Delgado with other Doctors); don't get me wrong they'd get along just fine with other faces but they are too married for it to go into shipping territory; I do see them giving NuWho thoscheis intense couples councelling, though

5: first headcanon that pops into my head - Three is a huge fan of David Bowie (this extends to all Doctors tbh, where the hell do you think Ten got his cheekbones?), with whom he struck an acquaintance and keeps playing him alien music (Ziggy Stardust is very much a real person); he brought the Master to one of their (time travelling, he wanted to prove a point) meetings, and within a few days Bowie wrote The Man Who Sold The World

6: favorite line from this character - this evolved into a full blown meta, but the The point is that one must rule or serve. That's a basic law of life. Why do you hesitate, Doctor? Surely it's not loyalty to the Time Lords, who exiled you on one insignificant planet? - You'll never understand, will you? I want to see the universe, not rule it. exchange is one of peak moments for the entire show; the opposing yet fundamentally not contradictory philosophies; the desperation to reach each other; the could have beens and could never bes...

7: one way in which I relate to this character - I too like James Bond movies, but believe they would benefit from Bond wearing more frills and velvets and Blofeld having a beard

8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character - with Delgado, the man eating sofa might have been just the teensiest bit too much? with Three, being chummy with Chairman Mao definitely calls for attention 🙃

9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave? - Delgado is probably the closest the Master ever got to being a cinnamon roll, yes he was absolutely established as a villain, but his ongoing politeness to every being he's about to subjugate to his will deserves proper appreciation :3; the Doctors generally osciallate right in the middle of the cinnamon roll-problematic fave spectrum, with some going really far into the latter and none going very far into the former, that said Three is one of the few who's marginally more on the cinnamon roll side

i am so in love with priest obi-wan aus, tbh. i know we just had blasphemous week and i loved it a lot and have fics saved to read later when i have time, but i love love love priest obi-wan aus (thank you angels and demons movie)

i also really love aus where the jedi order is like. made to be its own independent planet basically? someone marries a jedi because they have high standing, or a jedi marries a ruler of another planet because the jedi order is known to be important.

Sometimes I do drink and write, yes. Tbh, I typically have a great time writing while wine-drunk – and end up really liking what I’ve written. In a way, that worries me! I mean, who do I think I am? Bloody Charles Baudelaire? So I’m careful not to do it too often.

Spicy stuffs! Yes I do and I’m all for it. My personal fave is When Soulmates Swim. It’s set around season one so TK and Carlos are just getting to know each other, and I wanted to emphasise that their sexual connection is blowing their minds. While they’re doing it they’re like why is this so good??? What’s happening??? Why am I leaving the planet??? It was really fun to write them having great sex that was also clumsy and silly.

The WIP Flashback Fic started life as something very different. Gabriel being alive after season 4 was vital for the plot to work. I could have kept it going as an AU, but my heart just wasn’t in it. I scrapped about 20k and made lots of changes. I think Flashback Fic is my favourite thing I’ve written (and I can’t wait to share!), and it wouldn’t have been written without Gabriel dying…but I’ll always be sad that the show killed him off like they did anyway. Naughty show! (I love you 911LS come back!!!)

Lots of IRL people know I write fanfic! I’ve told: My mum: Hilariously supportive. I told her the show involves ‘a hot cop’ and she asked, “Do other people think the cop is hot as well?” and I said “Yes we are all in agreement about that.” She was pleased. My brother: A literary snob; a writer too. He was hilariously unsupportive at first, but then came around to the idea. The majority of my friends and my work team: All of them want me to link them to my Ao3 account, but I never ever will. Two lawyers at work who I happened to have a meeting with about half an hour after I found out I’d been plagiarised: I literally ended up taking legal advice. They were also very supportive while simultaneously bewildered. The deputy director of my work department because one of the lawyers got drunk and told her: Dep. Director said “well – your mistake was being so talented.” So, what I’ve learned is that people are actually very cool about it - or have been so far, anyway.

Okay, here it finally is: burping headcanons for my favorite fictional alien, with a few hcs for his culture/species, too! Some of these are not sfw, by the way. Feel free to borrow or use some of these ideas for your own faves if you want!

L𝚘ndo M𝚘llari (B/5)

Where do I even begin. Alcohol intox is not my thing personally but given that he's a canon alcoholic, he probably spends a decent amount of time a belchy mess.

When he's some level of drunk and in public, he's often careful to make sure his burps aren't audible. He'll let them slip out quietly and/or find ways to muffle them, but he generally tries to suppress them. He does have an image to maintain despite his drunken antics, and he is well aware that burping is generally frowned upon in many of the cultures he works alongside.

Still, every so often a burp will sneak up on him that he didn't feel coming. He's always profusely apologetic to those around him regardless of volume.

But if he's drunk in public around others of his own kind? He doesn't bother trying to hold them back then. He'll show them who's a good and proper C𝚎ntauri, dammit!

When he's drunk and by himself, he sees no reason to try and hold himself back. He burps freely and often and loves it. It feels so damn good to him. At that point, he doesn't care if his neighbors try to lodge another complaint against him for the noise.

When he's sober, he's much better at suppressing his burps when in public...

At least until he's only surrounded by others of his kind. With the possible perception of rudeness gone, he will burp as often and as freely as he needs to and not pay it any mind.

That said, don't try to challenge him in a burping contest. Drunk or sober, he will win.

The one place where he will always, always suppress his burps is when he's in council or other official meetings, being an ambassador and all. The last thing he needs to do is embarrass himself and his kind on a galactic stage.

But otherwise let's be real, he's canonically a hedonist. It would not surprise me if he sometimes makes himself belch simply for the sake of feeling that pleasure.

On a related note, though I hc him as more of a feeder, he can probably pack away a lot of food. He gets very, very burpy when he eats as a result, and definitely enjoys hearing and feeling how his burps change the fuller he gets.

There have got to be alien foods that don't quite agree with him that make him really burpy. Just an added bonus of enjoying a good meal, as far as he's concerned!

As superior as he likes to view his own planet's culture, he does have to admit that humans one-upped them in the fizzy drinks department. Soda is, in his opinion, one of humanity's greatest gifts to the galaxy. Not only does it taste good, but it makes him ridiculously belchy!

Is he into burps sexually? I'm still undecided on that tbh. But he won't turn you down if you offer to burp on his dicks while sucking him off! Or, because he's a god-tier lover, he would also be so down to belch on your parts if you asked him to...

Or, on second thought, maybe he is into it sexually. Again, he's a hedonist and loves pleasure in all its forms. He'd probably find burping orgasmic. Totally not projecting here... (/s)

He's probably grossed out many a non-C𝚎ntauri lover by needing to burp after he cums. He's enough of a sex god though to make up for it. But hey, if you're C𝚎ntauri and/or into it, that's just an added bonus of sleeping with him!

In general, he's just really fucking good at burping. Loud or quiet, long or short, rich or airy, he's good at getting them up and loves every second of it. Generally, though, they tend more towards being deep and guttural.

Stuffed and/or drunk burps are probably his favorites, but I think he'd be damn good at burping on command too!

And he'd probably get a kick out of belching shamelessly around non-C𝚎ntauri he dislikes, especially his long-time enemy... (Who perhaps ironically is the one character to burp in true canon. So it goes.)

The C𝚎ntauri

In many settings, burping is considered polite. Especially at events like big banquets at which eating to excess is considered proper behavior (the C𝚎ntauri having events like this is canon btw!). Burping therefore makes more room, giving it practical value- but it's also associated with hedonism (a good thing in their book) and is treated as a compliment to the cooks and host over the quality of the food. You wouldn't want to stuff yourself on bad food, after all!

By extension, not burping in such settings is rude. And being rude in public is not something you want to do when your status is tied so closely to your public image...

Their upper digestive tract is a wonder. Not only do their stomachs generally have higher capacities than most humans, but they're much faster at digesting- meaning they can get full, wait a few minutes, and then continue eating in the same sitting. This rapid digestion produces a lot of gas, which inevitably means that all but the least ravenous C𝚎ntauri need to burp quite often as they eat!

They also use burping as a way to show dominance, particularly in situations involving stuffing. It's only proper- and reflects good on you!- to unleash the biggest belches possible over a meal. The bigger the burps, the more powerful others may consider you.

Being a culture of hedonists, the C𝚎ntauri love finding ways to bring different types of pleasure together. It only makes sense that stuffing, and the burping that comes with it, before or during sex acts is widely enjoyed among pleasure-seeking adults.

Likewise, burping has its place in romantic settings too. Though romantic love is often overlooked in favor of politically-advantageous arranged marriages (which fwiw is canon), burping around someone you're attracted to is considered an excellent flirting method.

14,232 at time of recording. I'm a short story girlie.

Currently, only BG3. Before this, I used to write for Destiny (and I can be tempted again if The Final Shape is any good/has some good Awoken food) and Overwatch (lol. lmao.) IDK why I gravitate to writing about videogames. I guess that video game writing is more "open-ended" and thus creates more nooks and crannies for me to get my fanfiction claws in?

Unsurprisingly, they're Overwatch ones, given that it's the largest fandom I've written for. 1. Thaw (Mercy/Pharah, 159 words, Explicit) 2. Theobroma (Mercy/Pharah, 390 words, General Audiences) 3. I try to! I am in the very awkward situation of someone posting comments on my destiny fics a long time after I published and I haven't responded but I think about responding a lot but the more time it passes the more awkward it is...

Deliverance, arguably? Petra Venj gets Taken. So yeah. (The Savathûn tag is there because the fic was written back when we thought Savathûn had acquired the power to Take)

I don't, at time of recording. There's a BG3/Destiny crossover that lives in my mind but haven't written anything for it (yet?) It's very self-indulgent.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

It's actually a huge pet peeve of mine lol at least when it comes to real-world languages. It's something that is often used to add some flavor to foreign characters ("No, mon cher, I expect you to die", said the Spy) in a way that doesn't match how multilingual people I know speak other languages! For example, when I'm talking in English I'm talking in English, when I'm talking in Spanish I'm talking in Spanish. I often forget how a word is said in one language but remember it in the other, or some grammar quirks from Spanish make their way into my English. I may be on a call with a friend and speaking in English while we play videogames, and I cuss in English in those cases -- unless we have been silent for a while, I have returned to thinking in Spanish, I'm startled when getting killed suddenly and I cuss in Spanish. Not to say it's 100% unheard of to hear examples like the Spy one above, it kind of makes me think of my Galician friends very intentionally dropping a carallo in a convo in Spanish to play the stereotype, lol

Thanks for giving me a chance to rant about my fave Badass Diva, babe! Others feel free to send in a name and choose particular things

Why I like them: I really loved how tenacious and driven she was to reach her personal goals and doesnt like to compromise on that but she's still such a caring person that she cant help but jump in to help or save people as a hero, even tho she continually said she didnt wanna be a hero. Just her compassion for people in general, even who I wouldnt think deserve her compassion: 

Her first thought in both instances with her stalker, Karl Fredricks (Dazzler #26 & Uncanny X-Men ‘63 #260), is to reason with him and try to keep him from getting hurt. Also when battling him one of her main concerns is him hurting anyone else before she thinks of him hurting her.

Why I don't: There arent really points about her I don't like. I guess my biggest gripes are that writers tend to relegate her to a gimmick cameo character more often than not and miss opportunities to showcase her immense powerset range and the deep connections she has with a large portion of the not just other X-Men characters but the other marvel heroes as well. 

Also just the original fact the editors didnt allow her to be based on Grace Jones, like John Romita Jr. intended. It would've been noce to have another dark skinned Black woman hero, with star power outside of Ororo Munroe. And gosh the way they probably couldve bonded and had eachother to lean on. There's just so many "what ifs" that woulda probs changed not only Ali's trajectory but the Xmen/Marvel universe at large. But I still love Ali as she is now too. 

Favorite scene (imma do arc): The "What If" arc of Ali as Galactus' long time herald. The way she found away to discover new planets for him to devour but made sure that they didnt have sentient life that'd be destoryed in that consumption! Ugh says so much about her character!! Also that in her time as his herald he grew compassionate to the plights of other beings, seemingly. Because of her leading by example and what not. It's just soooo good and what I want more of in stories starring her. 🥹

Favorite season/movie (portrayal): My rp days version 😏 --But for real, she's only been in a couple adaptations and I dont know if any do her justice. I havent fully watched the episodes of them in the Outback but yeah

In canon-- Ali and Longshot, they've been through so much and if im not mistaken, literally share pieces of eachothers' souls and while things never work out romantically with them in all the times they get back together, I just love the idea of them still being besties regardless

Headcanon:

Gives amazing hugs, doesn't let go till the other person starts to pull away. Read somewhere once about being this way with kids cause you never know how little someone gets of contact and how they might need that physical reassurance.

BLURB

It’s Sameera’s last year of high school, and everything’s going her way: she’s a student council head, the captain of the girl’s Kho-Kho team, and she’s liked by almost everyone in her grade. Almost. Frigid, uptight Kayalvizhi, fellow council head, is the lone exception. Their first interaction was a nightmare, and while Sameera is told that Kayalvizhi’s just indifferent to everyone around her, she still feels personally attacked. TAMIZH. he/him, aro. Resident Cool Kid™ except he feels very uncool and very unchill, ball of nerves just barely keeping it together. is unlearning a lot of toxic beliefs on gender and he’s doing it with style.

SO WHATS THE DEAL HERE

idk what happened in the last two years but i’ve gone from being a prose hoe to a webcomic bitch and it has been working out great for me. comics are such a brilliant format for someone who’s equal parts artist and writer and recently all my important all-consuming story ideas have been webcomic ideas and im so excited to get to make them!!

there are two parts to this story, two parallel arcs, one for each sibling: sameera’s enemies to lovers story with kayal and anbu’s queerplatonic coming of age thing with tamizh. i think the main inspiration behind this was a) bridgerton season two which was the first time i actually ENJOYED an enemies-to-lovers romance and which made me go hmm yanno what. i’m going to do the same but without british people. b) me realising that as much as i love romance and writing romantic relationships i also would like to write a queerplatonic relationship please and thank you [it is endlessly amusing to me that my favourite genre is romance despite me being aromantic lmao] and i esp wanted to try writing a qpr from the pov of the non-aromantic character, just for that extra spice!

in the very short time ive had these four they’ve taken over my brain completely and i love it so much!! im currently working to on getting the basic prep work done [character turnarounds, uniform designs, bg models etc etc] and i’ll post updates on progress whenever i feel like lmao
