#okay so maybe i just used this as an excuse to ramble about descendants characters but hey it was fun
Text
I still want to make a descendants au but I cant decide who would be who so im gonna describe some of the characters and you guys give me suggestions
First some world building: there's two places, Auradon where all the good guys and their kids live and the Isle of the lost where all the villains and their kids live. The Isle of the lost has a barrier around it keeping everyone in. In the first film, a program is started where 4 villain kids will be brought to Auradon prep to have a chance at a good life and learn to be a better person
The rest is under the cut bc it got long on accident oops
Mal - Maleficent and Hades' daughter. Basically the main character. In the first film she initially puts a love spell on soon-to-be-King Ben with plans to open the barrier so her mother can get through and take over Auradon, in the end she falls in love with Ben and decides not to go through with it. But the barrier still gets opened bc of another girl (Jane) and Mal has to fight her Mom
Evie - the peace keeper, Mal's best friend with a love for fashion. She's the evil queen's daughter and always seemed most eager to go to Auradon. In the beginning she pretends to be dumb to try and get Chad (cinderella's son) to like her, but she ends up falling for Local Nerd™ Doug
Jay - Big beefy dude, respects women but also likes to charm the ladies. When Chad said mulans daughter couldnt join the sports team bc the rule book said it had to be 'a captain and eight men' Jay made her the captain.
Carlos - Cruella's son, an absolute sweetheart. Loves dogs and wants to be a vet. Has the personality of a labrador istg. In the second film he spends half the film trying to get the courage to ask out Jane and its adorable
Ben - the King, it was his idea to give the villains a second chance. He's very diplomatic and prefers to sort out issues through negotiation rather than a fight. Didn't care about Mal putting a love spell on him because he liked her anyway
Jane - the fairy godmothers daughter, she has big "teachers pet" vibes. The reason she opened the barrier is bc she wanted a magic make over and so grabbed her mothers wand. A while before this she had got a magic makeover from Mal but when Mal heard Jane insulting her she undid it. So Jane was trying to get her pretty makeover back
Uma - my favourite <3, Uma is Ursula's daughter and she's a pirate. In the second film she wants revenge on Mal and Ben because she's bitter that she got left behind on the Isle. In the third film she agrees to help Mal defeat Audrey (i'll explain audrey later) in return for the barrier being opened permanently. It becomes clear that she really just wants everyone on the Isle to have the same chance Mal and co had
Harry - Uma's second in command, son of captain Hook. Chaotic bisexual vibes, kinda dresses like the next member of Maneskin. Flirts with at least 3 girls in one film but redeems himself by simping for Uma every 5 minutes
Tumblr media
Audrey - sleeping beauty's daughter. She was Ben's girlfriend before Mal appeared. She was under a lot of pressure from her family to be the next Queen. In the third film she becomes evil and tries to take over Auradon after Ben proposes to Mal
Chad - #1 Audrey simp. Has exactly the kind of personality you expect from someone named Chad. Immediately offered to be Audrey's lackey when she turned evil tho
Lonnie - Mulan's daughter, just really damn cool. She disarmed a guy while fighting him, gave him her sword, then disarmed him again and took her sword back
Dizzy - babyyy, she's a younger girl from the Isle that Evie is fond of. She loves hair styling and wants to go to Auradon and pursue her dreams. Very perky and upbeat personality. Drizella's daughter, evil step mothers granddaughter. Actually has a decent relationship with her grandmother
Hades - the best worst dad. Ignored his kid for 16 years but hey, he came through for her in the end and didn't try to take over the world. I genuinely love him. Wears eye liner.
Tumblr media
Celia - Dr Faciliers daughter. One of the few villain kids with a good relationship with her parent. Very cool vibes. Apparently one of the particularly mischievous kids. She's part of the second set of VKs selected to go to Auradon Prep but she ends up returning to the Isle because she misses it too much
Doug - nerd (affectionate). Loves Evie. I dont actually remember much else about him but he's pretty sweet.
-
I cant think of anyone else particularly important, there's all the parents I've mentioned, plus Uma's pirate crew and various other students at Auradon but most of them don't really have proper character or anything. Oh wait actually I remembered someone.
Dude - Carlos's dog who can talk. Him and Carlos share a single braincell

East To West - Calum Hood
Hey guys! I got the cutest anon this past week! It should be on my profile if your curious or linked here! They were saying how they don’t usually read OC and I explained my decision to make an OC vs using Y/N. [Spoiler alert: it was so i could add more description to the character’s likes/dislikes] I also wanted to point out that i’m trying to limit my describing of my OC (Becca) so anybody reading could still imagine whoever they wanted (maybe themselves??). I hope you guys enjoy Part 4!

Part 4. Saturn
He couldn’t call her.
Every time he tried, the breath swept out of him. His lungs stilled, desperate for a breath that would never come. His heart would race against the minutes until death, trying to keep him alive. He started referencing her number as The Holy Seven in his brain. The case file detailing his insanity has grown enough to call him a criminal.
The number is scribbled on almost every stray piece of paper in the house. As if he didn’t memorize it the moment he saw it.
Calum tries to lean back on his couch, before realizing how uncomfortable it is. It’s a modern style, extra long bottom cushion with a ridiculously low back, the worst design in Calum’s opinion. The decorator chose it to match the modern, white monochrome look to the house. The lack of color drives him crazy, like he’s been only in one room while walking through the whole house. All the furniture was low to the ground and designed so you could see the whole room from any position. The living room they were in had big floor to ceiling windows that had a dark blue tint. When the sun hit it right, it felt like you were sitting at the bottom of the ocean. The walls were mostly bare, spare the odd monochrome painting that probably cost too much in Calum’s opinion.
Luke looked more than natural in the space, somehow making the awful couches not look so bad. A fleeting thought - maybe Calum should just give the house to him. Luke puffs the weed. His dirty secret only came out at Calum’s house. Luke usually blamed Calum for being the stoner when Layla, Luke’s girl, would ask. Layla quit smoking when her brother was killed in a car accident while under the influence. One of the boundaries Layla set when she and Luke started dating was that Luke quit. Luke agreed, he’s been trying to get into her pants for weeks. It never took Luke so long to win over a girl and the chase was driving Luke insane.
When Luke came back that first night smelling like weed, he had blamed Calum. Calum never corrected him, so the running lie had begun. Calum had smoked a couple of times, but when the thrill of doing something slightly illegal wore off, he realized he didn’t even like how it made him feel. Every time he tried to relax while under the influence, his anxiety sky rocketed. It wasn’t worth it to Calum.
Luke passes the blunt to Ashton who also inhales some. Unlike Luke, Ashton’s girlfriend is sitting right next to Ashton. Ashton’s arm is around her shoulders as he holds the blunt up for her to take. It wasn’t much of a boy’s night like they said it would be. They convinced Calum to invite them over by saying they were going to have a boys night and bond a little before they go into the studio next week. Calum had blindly believed them, desperately believing that they finally saw how unhappy he was. Next thing Calum knew, the joint was being passed around and nobody noticed that Calum never took a hit.
The clock was closing in on midnight. Not exactly late by their standards, but enough time had pass to make Calum want to burst. Burst in anger, frustration, or maybe it was just sadness. Calum excuses himself, standing and walking up the stairs to his room.
It was then that he called the number. There was nobody else to call at that point.
The phone rang and rang. Calum held his breath for another disappointment. Why would she even pick up? It was during the custom voicemail greeting that someone picked up. Calum hadn’t even realized that was possible.
“Hello?” The voice was like molasses, slow and riddled with sleep.
“Hey,” Calum brilliantly answered.
“Benny? Is that you? He didn’t call yet and we do still have a three hour time difference so I’m going back to bed,” Her voice was rough and low. Something in Calum told him she only spoke quickly so she could hang up faster.
“Actually - it’s not Benny. But I did forget about the time difference.” Calum cursed himself in his head for forgetting she lived in New York. Its 3am for her. She was definitely asleep.
“Um who is this then?” She seemed a little bit more awake now, but definitely still groggy.
“It’s..uh…Calum. Calum Hood?” He said it like a question. Unsure of how else to phrase it.
Becca flips the light switch and drops into a chair. The kitchen illuminates in a murky yellow color, but she feels a little bit more awake.
“Uh…” She breathes out. It’s her turn to talk. “I’m Becca, Becca Woods. I’m sure you know that by now though,” her voice is too breathy and she’s rambling but she can’t seem to stop. “I heard you have a picture of me? That sounds creepy. Well I have a drawing of you too. Does that make it less creepy? Um…sorry. But yeah, sounds like I should be paying that psychic for drawing me and giving it to you. I mean - I didn’t! I didn’t pay her at all. Well I did pay her for the picture of you but….yeah. I didn’t pay her off.” The disaster grew with every word she spoke.
He lets out a low chuckle over the phone. Maybe she wasn’t that much of a disaster? “Love, I know.” A breath across the line, “I know.” Another breath, “I was hoping to get to know you? Um, I didn’t really think I’d get this far and that you’d be real. But…yeah? You live in New York? Maybe you can come out here or I’ll go there? I’m not good at the whole phone thing.” He slowly chuckles.
Becca had to remind herself to breath for a moment. “Yeah, we should! I -uh. Schedules for work just came out. I can’t request off until next month. Um - I don’t even have the money for a flight. I’m sorry. I’m rambling. and I’m tired. I’m sorry, I’m not exactly sure what I’m saying -“
Before Becca could keep going, Calum just breaths another laugh. “Don’t - don’t worry. We can figure it all out later. Just go to sleep, Love.”
“I-uh-okay. Goodnight…Calum.”
“Goodnight Becca.” A beat. “Thank you for picking up.”
“Well, that’s what you do when the phone rings.”
Becca places the phone back on the hook in the kitchen. She’s so tired, she doesn’t even realize that she didn’t remember to give Calum her cell phone number. Becca just stumbles back to her bed and collapses into a dreamless sleep.
Calum stares at the cell phone in his hands like it was the map to Atlantis. Confused on how he had gotten it, but he wasn’t going to let it go now. Something in him lit up from talking to her. A spark so small, someone like Luke wouldn’t have even noticed it. But when your chest is hollow and dark, the little light is more like a beacon of hope.
Calum descends the stairs back to the living room. He collapses on the sofa, the conversation around him not even faltering. It didn’t bother him as much this time though.
Becca messed up about 4 drinks the next morning, burnt her hands three times and overcharged a regular by double (he thankfully wasn’t mad). The regular, George, leaned up against the counter near the espresso machine as Becca steams the milk for his sugar free vanilla latte. Becca barely makes eye contact with him, a far cry from their usual banter. George is not quite middle-aged yet, in his 30’s with a 15 year old daughter (a result of a teen pregnancy), but still has a widow peak starting to show between his fine hair. George studies her, concerned, as she pours his latte a little too quickly making the latte art muddle together. Becca just pushes the drink across the counter.
George stares down at his drink, “Now I know something is wrong. You okay Becca?” His voice is slightly strained and awkward. Even though every morning, for the couple minutes it takes Becca to make his drink, they talk and banter a little, they have never talked about anything remotely serious. As it goes with most customers.
Becca is already starting on the next drink order as she speaks, “Yeah. Got a call at like 3am last night and I’m trying to figure out if it was a dream or not. Ha.” Her laugh is more like a hard breath, but it does the trick.
“Check your recent calls on your phone?” George awkwardly stands there, gripping his drink, not sure if he should leave or not.
“Picked it up on my old landline. No caller ID or way to check past calls. It’s a miracle that thing has voice mail,” Becca says absentmindedly, dumping espresso out of the basket. She grinds more espresso, filling the basket again.
“Is everything okay?” George is still hovering.
“Yeah. Yeah, it is. Just - unexpected and weird. Feels more like a fever dream than a call.” Becca pauses for a moment. “It feels okay and not - all at the same time.” Becca positions the milk wand into the container and turns it on.
“I hope it works out!” George calls over the espresso machine. He turns to leave, and just before he walks out the door Becca responds.
“Me too!”

In Defense of Alvin Murphy
I’ve been having thoughts ever since watching Z Nation. Twice. And I had to get this all off my chest. But, I’m just gonna put this under a read more because this will probably be super long.
So, as I said above, this is mostly just something I needed to post about so I can finally think about something else, lol. Most of what I’m writing is based on canon, while some sections (which I’ll try to make obvious) are educated guesses based on what we do know, and what makes sense (to me anyway). I’m going to try and keep it in some kind of order, but it might get a bit ramble-y.
While it obviously isn’t everyone, there are a lot of people who just really hate Murphy. And while everyone’s entitled to their opinions, sometimes I feel it’s a little unjustified. Not only that, he gets a lot of hate in the show from various characters. Now, I’m not going to claim Murphy is a saint who can do no wrong—he’s done plenty wrong. But this post is basically about putting things in perspective. If this interests you, please continue reading. Otherwise, move on I guess?
Sometimes it feels as though people seem to forget that Murphy has some major PTSD. Many of the characters do, but here’s the thing: those characters are often treated with sympathy, where Murphy is not. Example: Murphy panics in the elevator when they’re looking for McCandles, and Warren smacks him and tells him to stop (paraphrasing), but when Warren has a panic attack in the box in the labyrinth, Sarge helps her out and people are sympathetic. Not that they shouldn’t, but it’s a stark difference between similar moments.
Let’s not forget that Murphy was in prison for Postal Fraud. Not murder. Not rape. Not terrorism. Not drugs. Postal Fraud. And he was sentenced to 3 years, when the maximum can be up to 20 years with a $250,000 fine, unless it involves a “presidentially declared major disaster or emergency” which can land you 30 years and $1 million dollar fine. AKA, whatever Murphy did, it was really minor. (You can find info and the quote if you google Postal Fraud)
In the flashback we see of him in season 2, Murphy sees his first zombie; a dude shanked by another dude. Chronologically, Murphy is then given the vaccine during Black Summer. When we see Murphy in the pilot, he’s got a full beard, meaning some time has passed between seeing his first Z and being vaccinated.
Here’s where a bit of educated guessing comes in: we don’t see what happens to him between those two times. It would make sense to me that, if there’s been a zombie outbreak and food/water is going to run out, prisoners would be kept in their cells indefinitely (or almost so). Which would then give a pretty good explanation to Murphy’s claustrophobia. Whether he was in the cell alone or not, that’s a tiny space, and can you imagine the kind of terror that would come with that? Probably hearing other prisoners turn? All it would take is one guard getting bitten by mistake and the whole place would descend into chaos.
Back to what we know for sure. At some point after seeing his first zombie, he is then forcibly taken to the prison lab to be experimented on. Murphy, strapped to a table, has to watch two other prisoners die after being injected—one of which seized so hard he broke his own neck. Then he’s injected, and left behind, where he’s mauled by zombies and is awake and experiences them tearing into his body.
Then, to add insult to injury, Murphy is led around for a year by Hammond—you know, one of the people who abandoned him to be bitten—to try and bring him to California where he will be, once again, experimented on. We see how Hammond treats people, especially Murphy. He yanks and shoves him around, and we see he even treats people he views as human kind of like crap; Murphy is just a “package” to him. In fact, Murphy is called “the package” by just about everyone.
Tumblr media
(remember that Hammond hauled Murphy from the truck and demanded he show Warren and Garnette the bites. Against his will.)
So, Murphy’s been traumatized, experimented on, and treated as less than human by the military, and then he’s taken in by people who also view him as less than human. Is it really any wonder he acts like an asshole? I doubt any normal person would be nice and friendly after all that.
The first person that actually tries to ask about what happened is Doc, but Murphy has no reason to trust him and lies about having volunteered to do it (I doubt Doc believes it, but he doesn’t ask further about it either). So yes, Murphy could have told Delta X-ray Delta exactly what happened, and maybe that would have gotten him the sympathy he deserved. However, they all know he was bitten eight times, so you’d think that alone would be enough to be treated with some kindness. But nah, they all are happy to push him around and tell him to shut up and again continue referring to him as “the package”.
It only gets worse as Murphy starts to turn blue. Not only does Murphy have to deal with the fact he’s being dragged across America to be experimented on by Dr. Mercy again, he then has to deal with the fact he’s, literally, falling apart.
Yes, Murphy takes water from that family and lets the husband inside. Yes, that was an awful thing to do. But, Murphy’s natural inclination is not to be a murderer (if they actually died). So I was thinking about the situation from Murphy’s perspective. The mother and daughter were hiding out in a building waiting for the husband to return. When he took the water, neither fought back, which can get you killed in the apocalypse. Even if he hadn’t taken the water, how long would they have lasted? Especially if they waited there for the husband to come back and he never did? They likely would have starved or died of dehydration. As Murphy leaves, he stops, thinks, then lets the zombiefied husband inside. I think it’s entirely possible that, from his prospective, he was helping in a way. The mother and daughter wouldn’t die wondering what happened to him, and could be viewed as a twisted sort of mercy. Again, not a good thing to do, and I’m not excusing him. But it’s a point to ponder.
Next I wanted to talk about Cassandra. Well, when Murphy bit her. Like with 10K, we never actually see the bite happen. What we see is Murphy going past everyone who’s devastated by Cassandra dying, and then entering the room and looking at her. Now, up to that point, Murphy had only bitten/infected four people, and controlled three of them sort of. The first person he bit, that guy at the Fu-Bar, died and didn’t turn. Now, based on the fact that even Murphy seemed surprised by Cassandra’s return, and her strange behavior, my guess is that he bit her to keep her from becoming a Z. He knew she meant a lot to the others, and despite his outward behavior, I think it’s safe to say Murphy does care about them at this point. So it would make sense to me that he would assume seeing her turn into a zombie would be heartbreaking to everyone else, and therefore bit her to prevent that, not knowing she would become a Blend and come after him.
In the final episode of season 1, Murphy sees what became of Patient Zero. He sees a man melted to a table, still alive, and begging for death, and knows he could become him. Then he learns Dr. Kurian isn’t who he says he is and could be wanting to kill or torture him (like the other experiments in the lab). (An aside: Dr. Merch worked in that lab, meaning she had a hand in those experiments.)
So again, I don’t find it unreasonable that Murphy, triggered by his trauma and impending kidnapping, fled. Flight or Fight, and we know Murphy prefers not to fight. So he ran. Someone in that kind of head-space is not going to be thinking of other people, and it would be unreasonable to expect that.
Then the beginning of season 2 is marked by people hunting Murphy down. People who are completely willing to break his legs to get the bounty. Again, he was being treated as less than human. The only bright spot in his life was Lucy, who he felt like he had to give up because he believed the group would hurt her. Considering the way they talked about him and her, and the fact they’re totally okay with allowing a baby to be experimented on, he wasn’t wrong to be worried.
Then we get the lovely episode The Collector. You know, the episode where Murphy was electrocuted multiple times. If you take a look at ScriptTorture like I have—specifically their electrical torture tag—you’ll see just how bad even one shock can be, let alone however many he got there. Being shocked with electricity can cause: heart attacks, muscle spasms enough to break bones, someone biting their own tongue off by mistake, death from falling because of muscle failure, burns, and bruising. While we know Murphy didn’t experience those (luckily) it’s still torture, and still incredibly painful for him. And let’s not forget he got shocked with a cattle prod back in the first episode of the season, and that he later gets repeatedly shocked in that episode with the Zuggalos.
The end of the episode leaves us with Murphy asking Warren to promise him she won’t let him be alone when they get to the CDC. And she does. Until a few episodes later, anyway. During the flashback episode, we get a scene where Murphy tells Warren he’s scared and that if she was his friend,  she wouldn’t leave him alone at the CDC. What’s Warren’s response to this? “I’m not your friend” and “There are some things we have to do alone, even if it hurts.” Like, wow, nice, so glad you don’t care you’re breaking Murphy down further.
Tumblr media
And then to find out Dr. Merch and the others on the sub weren’t even going to save humanity, just the rich people on Zona? To know he’d been subjected to all that shit for nothing? Yeah, Murphy had every right to be upset and to try and take matters into his own hands. A persona can only take so much before they snap, after all.
You know what’s ridiculous? That Warren & Co (minus 10k) were totally fine with Hector/Escorpion hanging out with them despite, you know, torturing Vasquez, killing multiple people even before the apocalypse, trying to kill 10k (the ep where he was with Sketchy and Skeezy), being part of a Cartel… But Murphy being snarky and occasionally an asshole is just so much worse, I guess.
Now I want to address Murphy biting 10k. Like with Cassandra, we don’t see what happens, just the before and after. But let’s think back on some things. Murphy bit Cassandra because she was dying. Murphy did NOT bite 10k when the Collector ordered him to because there was another way out. Murphy did NOT inject Warren & Co when they were with The Zeros, when he had the opportunity and even motive to. So then we have 10k on the sub, shot in the stomach. We last see 10k (pre-bite) stumbling off the table in the sub. Despite being bandaged, he didn’t look like he was doing too well. When we see 10k later, he has no memory of the bite happening. Murphy can do a lot, but we’ve never seen him erase someone’s memories. Now, looking at Murphy’s past actions, and what we see going on with 10k, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to assume that, perhaps, 10k fainted or was knocked out. Falling to the floor or against a wall could have very easily re-opened his stitches, causing him to bleed again. Now if Murphy saw this, he could have easily thought that 10k was dying and bitten him.
All that isn’t to say Murphy wasn’t in the wrong for trying to control 10k, because he was, but I find it hard, if not impossible, to believe it was a lie when Will said that Murphy cared about him and didn’t want to hurt him.
Honestly, season 3 feels kind of like a mess when it comes to vilifying Murphy and trying to make it seem like Warren is in the right. I’m honestly glad when Murphy calls out her hypocrisy, because Warren keeps saying freedom is important, and free will is important. But apparently when the people go to Murphy of their own free will to get his cure, that doesn’t count. Warren was totally okay with slaughtering a bunch of people (with the help of the Red Hand who are also a bunch of murderers), because they felt safe with Murphy. And why wouldn’t they? He made them immune to Zs, got them fresh water, functioning electricity, and food.
Which brings me to another point I want to make. People love to call Murphy a narcissist. While he does act arrogantly, he’s not a narcissist. To be classified as a narcissist, a person must exhibit 5 or more of the following symptoms:
A grandiose sense of self-importance
Preoccupation with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
Belief that one is special and can only be understood by or associate with special people or institutions
A need for excessive admiration
A sense of entitlement (to special treatment)
Exploitation of others
A lack of empathy
Envy of others or the belief that one is the object of envy
Arrogant, haughty behavior or attitudes
A grandiose sense of self-importance: Nope. Murphy frequently said he didn’t want to be The Savior, that he wanted to be normal and die like everyone else. When he does refer to himself as The Savior, it’s highly sarcastic or to stay alive.
Preoccupation with fantasies of success, power, etc.: Again, no. The closest he gets is saying he could have been an action news anchor if he’d applied himself.
Only associating with special people and institutions: No. Murphy associates with everyone. Does he get a little close to this with Zona in season 4? Yeah, but since it isn’t exclusive it doesn’t count as this.
A need for excessive admiration: Nah. You can see him get visibly uncomfortable when his Blends act overly obsessed with him. And guess what? Murphy gives them all credit for getting the power working. Not once does he claim that all the good things they have is because of him and him alone.
A sense of entitlement: Sometimes. But I’d say considering the shit he’s been through, it’s not unreasonable.
Exploitation of others: Yeah, he does do this.
Lack of empathy: Whoo boy, you’d have to have not been watching the show to think this. Murphy, despite his outward behavior, gets attached to people so fast. It only took one card game with Doc for Murphy to call him his friend, and to feel devastated when he thought Doc had been blown up. He has full empathy for Zs, and just because they’re dead doesn’t mean it doesn’t count. Especially when we know from both Murphy and Lucy that they do still feel things. Murphy and Lucy’s storyline as a whole disproves this one.
Envy of others/Thinking one is envied: No, we don’t see any evidence of this.
Arrogant and haughty behavior: Yeah, he does this too.
So, 2 out of 9 symptoms. Murphy’s not a narcissist. Case closed on that one.
Now, back to my main points. So we have Murphy creating a beautiful room for Lucy, intending to find her and bring her back to raise her properly. Warren tells Doc and Addy to get to Lucy first, so she can be the new cure. Because it’s totally fine to experiment on babies. And yeah, we know now that Sun Mei would have likely only taken a little bit of blood, but we didn’t then, and neither did Warren & Co. And even still, it’s experimenting on a baby. Truly, Warren was the hero of season 3 and Murphy was pure evil.
Luckily in seasons 4 and 5, Murphy is treated a lot better. Well, mostly the end of season 4 and season 5 in general. The way things are framed, it seems like Murphy doesn’t care about anyone not on Zona, but it’s crucial to remember that 1) He was told everyone was dead and 2) it’s been 2 years for him. And then when he’s reunited with Lucy she snubs him and hangs around with Warren, who acts all pleased about it. It’s not like Murphy loved Lucy more than anyone, even himself, and had tried so hard to get her back, thought she was dead, and just wants a chance to be a dad. And, because Murphy hasn’t suffered enough, Warren’s sense of self-importance about her mission to “stop” Black Rainbow got Lucy killed. Just saying, if they’d just gone to Newmerica, Lucy might have lived.
Also, how can your heart not break even a little when, at the camp, Doc gives Murphy a hug and Murphy says “At least there’s one person who’s happy to see me”? Like?
The last time we get Murphy being treated super unfairly is by Addy in season 5. Like, yes, Addy traveled with Lucy and cared about her, but Murphy was her father and might have been able to raise her if Doc and Addy hadn’t gone to kidnap her first. But she just has to get in a dig at Murphy not being around for Lucy. Like he totally would have had he not been abducted by Zona.
As long as this post is, I hope those that read it can see my point. Murphy is not perfect, but the way he’s treated is vastly out of proportion to what he’s done. He definitely deserves more sympathy than he’s given. If we’re ever given a season 6, I hope he’s treated a lot better.
If people would like to talk about this, whether you agree or not, please do. But also please be nice about it. I’m all for respectful discussions.

title: Nightmare characters: Hiura Kirina, Kozoumaru Sasuke pairing: KiriKozou summary: Kirina wakes from a sudden nightmare and finds comfort from his roommate.
His eyes had snapped open in an instant, mouth opened as he tried to catch his breath from being pulled back into this world. His chest was moving up and down, breathing uneven. His heart was racing, pounding against his chest. He felt hot even with a single blanket draped over him. A hand was clutching at said blanket, the fabric held tightly in his trembling grasp.
Kirina remained lying in bed, gaze stuck on the ceiling above him. It looked unfamiliar, strange. He takes in a breath of air, holds it, counts down from three. He forces his hand to release the blanket and to push his body to sit up in bed. He felt weak, arms not being able to fulfill a simple task with ease as they normally would have. Sitting up, he looks around the room, notices it's not his room. It's his dorm room. A shared living space. He wasn't alone here.
Finally, he's able to think, to tell himself, 'it was just a dream, it was just a dream'. He had been warped back here, back to reality. Although that dream had felt so real, had made him physically react, to leave a sharp, stinging sensation in his chest. He clutched onto the fabric that stuck to his chest, wanting to grip at what was underneath, to still the beating.
He's lost in his thoughts, his own attempts at trying to make himself calm. The consideration of waking up his roommate had yet to fully cross his mind. He knew he wasn't alone in here, but he was to shaken up to be worried about waking Kozoumaru. That dream of his was still fresh in his mind, too busy consuming his his entire being to allow him to worry over another.
Kirina can't go back to bed. He doesn't want to. He can see those images again when he shuts his eyes and decides its better to get out of bed for a while. His bed was no longer a safe place. So, he takes slow, careful steps down the ladder of this bunk bed. His legs and arms still trembling, his grip on the wood is tight as he descends.
Kozoumaru hadn't fallen asleep yet. He had heard the sudden movements from above, tried to think nothing of it. He passed if off as him moving around in his sleep, even if that was a rare thing for Kirina to do. His eyes had gone from staring at the posters hung underneath the top bed to watching Kirina step down the ladder.
He didn't want to think anything was wrong. But, then he notices his shaky movements, the way his head is dipped down, how he stays standing and holding the ladder for support even once his feet finally hit the ground. It's unusual. Even in the darkness, Kirina wouldn't be this cautious.
The shorter boy pushes himself up, making himself sit upon the bed with crossed legs and stare at Kirina. He tried squinting, to see if he could catch a glimpse of the other's face. If only light was shining in the room, maybe he could.
And then, Kirina lifts his head, slightly, allowing a quick peek at the distressed look on his face, the fear that stained his usually bright eyes. It was a worrying sight. He never thought he'd see Kirina like this. Even when all hope was lost, he hadn't looked this…hurt? Terrified? Whatever it was- a nightmare, perhaps?- had really shaken him up.
"Kozoumaru," Kirina suddenly calls out his name. Its startling and any remaining attention that hadn't been on him is now. "Can I sit with you for a while?"
It's a request, one he can't say no to. Kozoumaru doesn't give a verbal answer, only a nod in response. He moves on the bed to make room for him, creating a space for him to sit down beside him.
A forced smile graces his lips with a quiet, "thank you," as Kirina takes the offered seat. He nearly falls onto the bed, letting his body rest after that climb down.
The room falls silent, leaving Kozoumaru to only look at Kirina with some worry in his gaze. It was obvious something was wrong. But what could he do to help? Being overly supportive wasn't his thing. He could give a small word or two to help, but doubts it would work in this situation.
"We could go outside if you want. Get fresh air," Kozoumaru suggests.
Sitting outside with a cool breeze brushing against skin and a star lit sky was oddly comforting. It was a nice little get away from the rest of the team, where people could go when they wanted to be alone or just share a private moment. He thought Kirina might like that instead of being inside this stuffy and dark room.
"Ah, no, here is fine," Kirina answers.
"Alright…" He shrugs.
If fresh air wasn't what he wanted or needed, then he guessed he really just needed someone beside him. He tries to think of why he would, but nothing comes to mind.
They were still learning about each other, getting used to each other. Kirina had been one of the easier ones to get along with here, but he still didn't know everything about the other boy. He wished he did though. It's frustrating not knowing and not being able to help him. All he wants is Kirina to be himself, to go back to that sweet smile of his.
He lets out a quiet sigh to his thoughts, letting a hand scratch at his head. He'd figure something out, hopefully.
"Hiura, are you-"
He stops once his eyes had looked up to Kirina and noticed a tear begin to roll down his cheek. He hadn't been crying earlier, or at least he hadn't noticed any tear stains or redness in his eyes. Seeing that sudden tear had really caught him off guard.
"Hm?"
Kirina's head turns, a curious look mixes with his saddened one. Now, he's surprised to see the staggering expression on Kozoumaru's face. He looked more startled now than hearing an explanation from their coach.
Kozoumaru's expression back to being serious, worried, as he gestures to his face.
"You're crying?"
"I'm not-"
Kirina's hand is lifted to his cheek, pressing against the damp skin. He hadn't been aware of the tear that had escaped him. He wanted to use the excuse of a yawn, but knew that would be pointless to try with him.
He wipes away at the fallen tear and feels more conscious about himself now. He hadn't meant to be caught tearing up over this. Although he's glad he hadn't gone into a blubbering and sobbing mess. That had already happened in his dream.
"Was it a nightmare?" Kozoumaru finally dares to ask, unsure if he'd get much of a response, but he didn't want to leave the room quiet.
"Mhm…" Kirina nods, hands resting in his lap and held tightly together, his eyes stuck on them. "I…" He pauses for a moment, wanting to collect himself before speaking. "I dreamt my grandmother had passed away. I-I don't know why. I just wanted to go and see her, but she was gone and everything just felt so real."
He couldn't explain his dream properly and part of him didn't want to go over every single detail. He had gotten home to see his grandmother. She was gone. He was calling for her. The news had hit. Then he was being swallowed up in darkness as he tried to keep reaching out to her. He could hear his grandmother's voice to, telling him everything was going to be okay without her. But it wouldn't.
"I think it reminded me of my parents to." Kirina lets out a breath. He shouldn't be rambling, but talking just felt…good. He wouldn't be able to handle bottling this all up until morning. "She's the only one I have left and I just…don't want to lose her and be alone…"
Kozoumaru was listening to him, remaining quiet. This was a touchy subject to deal with and one he had no experience with. He hadn't felt the loss of any immediate family members, he still had his parents. He could only recall losing an aunt that he hardly knew a couple years ago. And that wasn't something he could use to relate to Kirina with.
He didn't know what to say. An 'I'm sorry' was usually saved for when the loss was real, not for a dream version. He tried to think of generic comforting words but they all just seemed so dumb and useless for this. But, he was intent on saying something, anything to try and cheer him up.
"I can't relate to what you're feeling, but you'll be fine in the end. If you don't have family, you have the team at least. We'd be here for you." He knows he would. "And…" A pause as he looks away, scratching the back of his head. "If this happens again, you can tell me about it." It's not the best offer, but it's genuine.
Kirina turns to him, staring for a moment. His words were surprisingly soft, genuine. He had done his best and had made a small smile appear on his face.
"Thanks, Kozoumaru. I'm sorry that I had to burden you with that." Kirina tries to laugh, but its weak and sounds forced.
Kozoumaru lets out a content sigh once he sees the smile on his face. He's glad that he had helped out in some form, to see a short lived happiness spark back on his face.
"You don't have to thank me," he replies before beginning to move back on his bed. He figured this talk was over, that Kirina would want to go back up and get some sleep, but the other hadn't moved off his bed.
"If its not too much…" Kirina starts, turning his head to him. "Can I sleep in your bed tonight?"
"Huh?" Kozoumaru looks at him as if this request is stranger than the last one. "You want to switch beds for the night?"
"Ah no, I meant- Can I sleep together with you? I just…don't think I can sleep alone. Not tonight."
Kozoumaru freezes upon hearing that. It's not something he wants to turn down or say no to- how could he anyway? It would help and he'd be closer with Kirina.
He lets out a huff, figuring thats better than his silence. "Fine. Don't think this is going to be a constant thing though…" Kozoumaru mutters as he begins to move back into his bed.
Kirina's face lights up when he hears this 'yes' of his. He whispers another, "thank you," along with an "I'm sorry for troubling you so much."
The shorter only rolls his eyes to that. He'd tell him not to apologize for something like this another time. For now, he just waits for Kirina to crawl into his bed, lie beside him and feel the warmth of another person beside him. He's more still, tense than he would be alone, not used to sharing his bed, but eventually Kozoumaru finds himself able to relax.
"Good night, Kozoumaru."
"Yeah, night, Hiura."
(When Kozoumaru wakes up, he finds himself in Kirina's arms. Naturally, he attempts to pull free and move away, but catching sight of the peaceful look on his face, he stops moving. If this helps him sleep and drives off the nightmares, he'll let it slide this time.)
