Ben Crase Born in Butte, Montana, Ben Crase (b. 1976) lives and works in San Diego, California. Ben Crase Ben Crase (b. 1976) is a self-taught figurative painter originally from Butte, Montana. These days Crase is based out of San Diego, California. He paints primarily with oil and oil sticks. Crase’s most recent work focuses on figures from the Old American West. With his choice of colour, texture and off-kilter composition Crase hopes to provoke a reaction from the viewer. Crase - acutely aware of America’s less than stellar past - wants to showcase and acknowledge that in his work.
