hello! i’m back with a new video that features our one and only sua along with some of the many clips, of bts’ hyung line arguing on who raised sua because they’re cute like that, and they’re all precious :> also the video is 19 minutes long… sorry not sorry, there’s more btw

##CLIP ONE | bts in the soop

“Oppa!” Sua giggled as she waddled her way in the car with Suga and Jin, both who are waiting for her as she jumped at the back seat, waving and greeting the cameras before closing the door.

“I’m with my reliable oppa!~” Sua cheered at the camera as she situated herself in the back seat causing Jin to laugh at her antics.

“Wear your seatbelt Hyun-ah.” Yoongi spoke, pulling his mask down as he buckles his own seat, getting ready to drive.

Sua shuffled on the back pulling the seatbelt stuck from the top, her face scrunches up as she pulls the seatbelt harder shaking it multiple times.

“Oh? Why?” Sua let out an exasperated sigh causing the older members to turn around and look at her.

“What’s taking you long?” Jin glanced from the mirror, laughing as he watched Sua struggle to fight the seatbelt.

Yoongi smirked at the younger member, “Why are you like this Hyun-ah?” he asked in sarcasm, teasing Sua.

“You’re acting like a rookie, haven’t you been in a car ride before?” Jin shouts from the front seat before removing his seatbelt and turn around to help the younger.

“You don’t need to pull so hard, just release it from the top.” Jin showed Sua how to do it, and buckled her in her seat himself to avoid any more complications.

“Oooh oppa is so cool.” Sua giggled, doing a small dance smirking at the camera in front of her, “he’s like a boyfriend- no a father!”

Jin sat down in his seat buckling himself as Yoongi begin to drive, in the hopes to catch up to the members. “It’s like when I met you back then, I would do your seatbelt for you. Such a kid Ahn Seohyun.”

Jin sighed as Yoongi shook his head in agreement, “We were worried that Sua would begin dating other guys when she turned 20, but till this day she’s still-”

“Oppa! You can’t say that in national tv.” Sua gasped trying to change the subject, but she know they’re never going to stop teasing her anytime soon. “I have a crush, what if they see me.” Sua replies jokingly causing the members to look behind her.

“Yah! Who do you tell tell me?” Seokjin glanced at the younger from the mirror as she raised her brows, chuckling mischievously.

“It’s ARMY of course! I need to be on my best, and show off my charms.” Sua shouts to avoid any more dating allegations stacked on her name.

Yoongi sent Sua an unknowing smirk before ignoring her previous statement, “What are you talking about? ARMY’s love all your charms.”

Sua shakes her head avoiding conversation, holding back the giggles in her mouth.

“You better tell me later, send me a message right now.” Jin mumbles under his breath opening KakaoTalk to ask her.

“I can’t believe it, she’s already 20 years old.” Hobi faced the camera, drying fake tears as the group huddled to surprise her.

Sua was called to film an interview after their schedule in Melbourne, which gave the boys enough time to design and surprise their hotel room with cake and balloons.

“Sua is already an adult, it’s sad to see her grow, but I’m happy of the all the things she will achieve.” Hoseok smiled at the camera before continuing to design her cake.

“What about you hyung! Suga hyung! Say something to Sua, it’s a letter for her.” Jimin ran to his direction placing the camera in front of him.

Getting his emotions ready, Suga let out a short sigh before looking at the camera, “That little squirt is already 20, how fast does time go. We’re here in our first world tour and I’m happy that she got to experience these memories and moments with us.

The first time I met Sua, she was 15 years old, such a baby, and now she’s already an adult. I’m proud of her.” Yoongi smiled softly and waved to the camera, before continuing to help the rest of the members.

Moving on, Jimin went to Namjoon to ask him to send Sua a message. “Sua, when we first met you were so small, and I showed you around BigHit, you were timidly following behind me, and now you’re walking on a flowery path.

I wish you all the best, and I hope you enjoy your time as an adult. Remember that the members are here with you, and together we will walk together. Happy birthday Sua!”

Namjoon smiles before sending a finger heart to the camera, before Jimin smiles, leaving him to find the rest of the members and their messages.

##CLIP THREE | 150508 [bangtan bomb] after KBS Music Bank 1st Place

“This,” Sua placed the trophy in front of her with stained lips from Tae’s antics, “this is my early coming-of-age-present. Which is coming in 15 days!”

Sua shake the award in front of the camera before staring at in, honey dripping from her eyes. “I’m so so happy. This is our first award and woah, it’s just shocking. I’m shaking right now.”

Sua shows the camera as Seokjin walks from behind you, “Are you okay Hyun-ah?” Seokjin rubs her shoulders comforting her as she show him her shaking hand.

“I’m still processing the whole thing, you know, our first win. It’s nice, I- I didn’t think we would win. Thank you ARMY!~” Sua smiles pulling Seokjin inside the frame and pose with her.

“I’m so proud of you!” Seokjin smiled at Sua and pat her head lovingly, pinching the sides of her cheeks.

Turning around, Seokjin faced the camera saying, “I can’t believe I’m here to witness Sua grow up as an idol. I raised her you know.”

Namjoon, who was walking near him, listened to the conversation and nodded his head behind Jin, pointing to himself and mouth the words, “me too”.

“Sua has become a lovely girl, and when I let her she was so adorable and sweet.” Seokjin spoke, showering Sua with compliments.

“I met her first! I met Sua back then, even before Yoongi and Hoseok!”

“Okay it’s time for Sua’s segment.” Yoongi flipped his script as the members scoot over to push Sua on Yoongi’s right side.

“I have a segment? What is this?” Sua laughed awkwardly looking at the other members.

“Yes, this is for your coming-of-age celebration preparation time!!” Yoongi spoke quickly causing the members to laugh at him.

“Of course, in our room, Sua keeps talking about having plans for her birthday.” Seokjin added.

“So, Sua, tell us- well me and hyung already know but tell the other members.” Yoongi gestured to the rest of the members, eyes never leaving the female.

“Ohhh, I want to go to a park! Maybe we can hang out outside the dorm? I can treat you out because I saved some of my allowance, I can’t go home either and my parents will be sending me money I think?

I can treat you, we can eat meat at the restaurant near BigHit, after practice! But, I don’t know if we have a schedule or not, so maybe we can celebrate earlier or later, it’s okay to me, as long as we celebrate it together.” Sua ended her statement with a smile as the members cheered at her promising plans.

“It’ll be in a month right? Your birthday?” Jungkook spoke beside her.

“Yeah, perhaps, did you forget when my birthday is?” Sua asked, playing sad as Jungkook frantically waved saying he knows.

“Sua is growing well, let’s hope we don’t have any schedule’s planned during your birthday.” Hoseok spoke before closing Sua’s segment and moving on to a different topic.

“Sua’s DNA?” Jin tilted his head to the side, and the first words that come out of his mouth are, “my child”

“I practically raised her.” Yoongi shrugs his shoulders, unfazed as he mumbles staring at the camera.

“A baby?” Namjoon chuckles with a big grin flashed on his face.

“Did the other hyungs say Sua is their child?” Hoseok looked at Jungkook from behind the camera as he jumps and laughs along with Hoseok.

“Ahh, I knew it, these hyungs. Seohyun’s mother! Hello, I’m J-Hope.” Hoseok bowed in front of the camera causing Jungkook to laugh behind the camera.

“Are you introducing yourself hyung?” Jungkook asked.

“Yes, I also helped raising your daughter, but thank you for giving birth to her.” Hoseok smiles at the camera before bursting into a fit of laughter.

“Sua is my child, I fed her, and made her food when she was in high school. You were there!” Seokjin shouts as Jungkook nods his head in agreement. “You made us lunchboxes hyung! Noona and I would eat them together.”

“Hyung would say he raised Sua, but I also raised her! I gave her pocket money so she can hang out with her friends after class.” Yoongi nods his head, full of pride for Sua.

“You never gave me pocket money hyung!” Jungkook shouts from the back of the camera, “You said you didn’t have friends?” Yoongi retorts causing Jungkook to scoff at his reply.

“Just so you know I shared the money with Kookie.” Sua spoke from the back leaving Yoongi shocked. “What!”

“Who taught you to drink?” Yoongi drawled as he watches Sua take a shot of alcohol.

“I’m bad at drinking though, I only drank once with Jin-oppa, after the Red Bullet Tour? We went out to celebrate and he poured me a drink.” Sua explained as her face scrunched up to the burn of the alcohol down her throat.

“Woah! You went out on a drink with hyung? How come we never knew this, you went out all along with hyung?” Hoseok chided, asking for more details to this unknown scenario.

“Yes, we went and oppa gave me a glass of soju, it was horrible, I didn’t like it, so I never drank in front of you guys.” Sua shrugged it off, ignoring the fact that she’s been drinking before without the boys knowing.

“Why didn’t you call me instead?” Yoongi pouts feeling sad you went with Jin instead.

“Because you were in the studio after the tour remember? And we didn’t plan on getting drinks we were just eating dinner that one time.”

Yoongi shook his head in disappointment, “I can’t believe our Sua can drink by herself already.”

His statement causing the members to laugh at him, “Yah! Hyung what are you talking about?’

"I can drink alright, I thought you guys knew though.” Sua tilted her head sideways thinking of the time she told them before.

“I can’t believe I’m witnessing you drinking for the first time and you’re so nonchalant about it.” Yoongi rolled his eyes in a playful notion as Sua giggled at his actions.

“Let’s get a drink together, I’ll treat you out!” Sua shouts from the other side of the table as the members holler and cheer.

“Woaaah she’s going to treat you out hyung!!!.”

“Can I come with the both of you?”

“How come you only invite Yoongi? Do you forget we’re also here?”

“No, you don’t have to pay. I’ll pay like a cool older brother, just like I always have.” yoongi brushed it off coolly.

“I can’t believe Sua is already at the age where she can go out drinking, she’s growing old.” Namjoon mumbled feeling sentimental.

“What are you saying oppa? It’s been years since I can drink!” Sua laughed from her seat, “You’re acting like I drink all the time, this is probably the third time I drank alcohol.”

“You’re still a baby Seohyun-ah!’ Namjoon shouts all of the sudden making Sua giggle at him.

"Oppa, are you drunk already?”

i’m so sorry you’re going through it, wishing you lots of love! i went with Oscar since you mentioned him first.

It’s after Australia that they meet up, just the two of them. It’s a rare occasion, for whatever reason, and there’s a little bit of awkwardness without Lando as a third party.

Eventually, after a tour and some roughhousing with the dirtbakes the tension is gone and Oscar shuffles into the kitchen after a shower to get all the sand off.

“Danny?”

Daniel turns from the kitchen island, soft smile spreading onto his face. “Yea, bud?”

“Can I have a snack?” Oscar shifting from foot to foot now, fingers playing with the bottom of his shirt that suddenly looks too big on him. “Please.” He rushes to add.

Daniel keeps the smile, nods. “Of course,” He turns slightly to face the options. “You want me to cut up some fruits? We have apples and bananas, the mango’s good.”

Oscar shyly nods and before he can answer properly Daniel goes

“Oh!” One of the kitchen drawers gets opened and Daniel snatches up a packet of animal crackers, the good ones with chocolates. He waves it about with a smirk. “I know you boys like these.”

A blush creeps up Oscar’s neck as he nods again. “They’re nice.”

“I’ll fix you up something good.” Daniel hums, pulling out a bowl and snapping the packet open, pouring a generous amount into the bowl before also grabbing an apple. “Get comfortable buddy I’ll be right with you.”

Oscar takes the cue and shuffles out off the kitchen, curls himself up on the couch and waits for Daniel to get there.

They eat their snack together, Oscar obediently eats his apple first before diving into the crackers, while Daniel eats his trail mix and own apple, resisting ruffling Oscar’s hair when he finishes his bowl and goes to walk it back to the kitchen.

When Oscar reappears, he seems to have found his giraffe plush, and is rubbing an eye. “Danny?”

It doesn’t get old, ever.

“Yea, buddy?” Daniel asks, trying to contain his endearment.

“I could use a nap.”

Daniel figures he should call the news, or record this interaction to have Lando study it, because asking for naps is usually a rare experience.

Instead, Daniel stands up, moves over to pull Oscar into his chest for a second before kissing the top of his head. “Alright bub, let’s go.”

Oscar gets to pick guest bed or Daniel’s room and unsurprisingly picks Daniel’s. When they’re cuddled up Daniel speaks quietly.

“Ya know, a couple years ago I was here with a very distraught Lando, who thought the bugs here were gonna eat him.”

Oscar looks at him, clear exhaustion on his face but eyes big and wide. “Really?”

“Hmm.” Daniel hums, brushing his hand through Oscar’s hair. “Some of the boys thought it’d be funny to play a joke on him, but Lando didn’t think it was very funny and neither did I.”

“Did they get in trouble?” Oscar asks, clutching Louie a little bit tighter.

“Yep.” Daniel nods, squeezing Oscar close. “It’s not nice when the joke isn’t funny to everyone. They were only in trouble for a little bit, no one’s ever in trouble for a long time.” He reassures while Oscar settles into him a yawn escaping him.

Oscar falls asleep shortly after and Daniel watches him for a little bit before he decides a nap doesn’t sound bad at all.

You started walking in the arena with your tour manager.

“Hey, I just recalled the mix from the last rehearsal. You should be all set” Damian, your tour manager approached you as he walked along with you.

“That’s great, can I take a look at the song setlist?"

“Sure” 

He handed you the sheet of paper. 

“Hm…can we change this song, as the last one?” 

“Sure, no problem” 

“Great”

“Is there anything else?” 

“No, that would be everything. Thanks”

“Ok, you’re clear. I see you at catering” he said before leaving. 

“Hey guys” you said as you greeted your band. 

“Ok, let’s do 'Extasis'” you told your band. 

Shortly after they started playing the song, and you started singing. 

Eventually, you finished you last song of the set list. 

“That’s a wrap” your baterist said. 

“Yay” you said. 

You walked off the stage and headed straight to the dressing room. The show wasn’t until three more hours. 

Then when you entered your dressing room, to your surprise, you found Urban sitting in a nearby couch. 

“Urban?” 

“Hey” he said sounding more relaxed than usual.

“Are you high?” you asked trying to contain your laughter.

“Maybe” 

In that moment, someone knocked on the door. 

“Come in” 

“Oh, hey Y/n; sorry I didn’t know this was your dressing room” 

“Oh shit, sorry. I thought this was Jack’s” Urban said getting up from the couch. 

“That’s, ok. I was actually going to ask you guys if you wanted to hang out?”

And that’s how you, Jack and Urban, ended up playing Call Of Duty: Warzone in your dressing room. 

You were not the greatest videogame player, but knowing how competitive Jack was, you ended up teaming up with Urban, just for Jack to lose. But being slow, you ended up messing up a lot. 

“No no no no no no” you and Urban yelled as you wee about to lose to Jack. 

He won. 

“Aaaaahhh” Jack started yelling as he leaned to Urban and started patting his leg at the realization that he had just won. 

“Godamit” said laughed. 

You were losing it, as you were laughing while you recorded the whole thing on your ig story. 

“You are such a fool” you laughed. 

You, Urban and Jack remained in your dressing room just fooling around while killing time, until you had to get ready to go to the stage.

With the help of your makeup artist and stylist, you were able to get into your costume.

"Lets have a great show guys. 2 minutes side stage" your assistant announced.

You took a deep breath and walked out of your dressing room.

As you approached the stage entrance you waited for your cue, and then you started walking out into the stage and the whole crowd went wild.

“Como están Australia?” you yelled to the crowd and they all started cheering you.

summary: seeing your ex at a party never works out, sometimes it’s for the best though.

a/n: i wrote this when i was heartbroken. sorry for being mia, next post should be sweeter. 

You were mad and terribly jealous. You knew you didn’t have the right to feel that way but you couldn’t help it. He looked good, almost too good and he was making another girl giggle the same way he used to make you. 

You broke up with him though. You had every right to make that decision though, he was treating you like shit and you hardly ever saw him due to his high demand schedule. Just because he was Jack Harlow the famous rapper didn’t mean that he couldn’t be Jack, your boyfriend anymore.

Jack would have never pulled the plug, he would have kept you trailing behind him. He would have made you feel even more stupid as he claimed to be single in every interview he did, knowing you were waiting for him at home. He would have played you like a fool as he came home from overseas with dozens of new girls' numbers in his phone. 

So five months ago from now you had broken up with him over text, while he was in Australia, and then you proceeded to block his number and completely delete him from your life. 

And it worked for a while… until now.

“Holy shit he’s back from tour?” Marlie, one of yours and Jack’s mutual friends, spoke before looking over at you, “Do you mind?”

You shook your head, “I’m not petty.”

It was true, you didn’t care if your friends were still friends with him. It’s not like he fucked them over. So you watched carefully from across the room as basically everyone at the party made their way at some point over to Jack to say hi.

You scrolled aimlessly on your phone, trying your best to seem like you were not bitter and ready to leave. It was hard though when his voice and laugh cut through like a hot knife.

“So you weren’t gonna say hi, I’m guessing?” The familiar voice had now sat right beside you and even though you couldn’t see anyone looking at you, you could feel the entire room's eyes on you and the now very famous person beside you. 

You scoffed, refusing to look over at him. “Believe it or not, not everyone is obligated to say something to you… No matter how many awards you win.”

Jack knew you would be cold, he just didn’t expect you to be so ice cold. “Y/N.” His voice was barely above a whisper, and his words were shaky. You were the only one who could ever get him like that. “Look at me please.”

His voice though, how sweet it got whenever he talked to you. His voice, the same way yours affected him, his did the same to you.

“So you’re just gonna ignore me?”

“So you’re just gonna ignore me?” An unfamiliar voice came from behind you, hands crawling to your waist.

You quickly turned around, stepping back. “Don’t fucking touch me.”

Jack’s eyes widened as he looked at you, someone he in fact did not know. “I am so fuckin’ sorry I thought you were… Oh shit… My bad.”

You raised a brow, “Yeah I’m not Gracie.”

“No kidding huh.” Jack rubbed at the back of his neck embarrassed, “I’m really sorry, I didn’t mean to touch you like that.”

You laughed at how bad he visibly felt. “I’m Y/N.”

“Jack.” He smiled back at you. 

You quickly stood up, not wanting to deal with Jack. Your heart was thumping hard against your chest as you made your way through the dark loud house, passing by sweaty bodies. You no longer wanted to be there anymore.

Nah, I’m good just give me a second

That’s cool I’ll be right back

You could hear his voice following you even as you made your way out the front door, starting your walk down the block to where you parked.

“Y/N!”

“What?!” You practically yelled, turning around to face Jack. “What Jack? What could you possibly want?”

“Really? What could I want?” He looked hurt, “What could I want from the girl who broke up with me over text when I’m on a different continent and then blocked me?”

You stared at him, not answering. 

“I came home and all your stuff was gone from our home.” His voice cracked.

“Your home.” The words felt like venom coming out of your mouth, “That was never our home. In order for it to be our home, it’s required for you to actually be there, to sleep there, to eat there, to live there. I never woke up to you Jack. I could count on my hands how many times we actually stayed there together.”

“I—“

“And did I actually break up with you? Because in all those interviews you were claiming you were single while I was at our supposed home. I was going crazy Jack and you weren't there. I was lonely and you didn’t care. I was always putting you first and I finally decided to put myself first.” You were now sobbing. 

“Bab- Y/N, you know why I always said I was single in those interviews… For show, you knew how it was, how I need to seem accessible.” Jack has no idea why he’s trying to make excuses. 

“So it was for show when you cheated on me when you were in Los Angeles? When you cheated on me in Chicago, in New York, in Atlanta… In Louisville.” Your voice was shot, barely coming out. “It was all for show?”

“You’re home.” You smiled, getting up from the couch, “I missed you baby.”

It was three in the morning and you had stood up even though your body was begging you to go to sleep. Jack however had paid you barely any mind, giving you a soft kiss on your forehead and heading straight to the restroom. 

“How was the show? It looked really good.” You spoke on the other side of the closed bathroom door. Silence. “Uhm… okay Im gonna go to sleep Jack.”

While you tucked yourself into bed on the other side of the restroom Jack was pushing his foundation stained shirt to the bottom of the laundry basket and was trying his best to remove the lipstick stains from his chest. 

Jack quickly showered, letting any trace of any other woman who wasn’t you swirl down the drain. 

“I missed you baby.” Jack mumbles as he gets into bed, cuddling next to you. “I love you so much.”

“I love you too.” You cuddle into him too, loving the feeling of his arms wrapped around you. 

“I really do love you baby, you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me.” Jack means every word he says and in his head he promises not to be stupid anymore.

Two weeks from that exact night, he finds himself with a blonde wrapped around him while you’re at home alone.

At this point Jack knew that you knew about all of those times but for you to actually say it to his face… he felt like shit. He hurt you.

“I’m sorry.”

“I know.” You look up at Jack, wiping away your tears, “But sorry isn’t going to change anything.”

“No, because what the actual fuck!?” An irritated cry sounds from the other side of the door. Chan tugs off his headphones, his expression tied somewhere between amused and nonchalant. He knew it was another spider without even having to get up and check the scene. He knew a part of you absolutely dreaded being so eager about tagging along with the Strays for their tour in Australia. He did warn you about the spiders, but your excitement got the better of you, as always. You were absolutely thrilled about touring around with your boyfriend after the concerts. There were so many places you wanted to see, places he had spent hours talking to you about. Somewhere in the back of your mind, you undermined the spiders as being such a big issue. You did have plenty of Daddy Long Legs roaming around back in your hometown. How bad could the spiders there they be? You thought. Chan grumbled beneath his breath, after hearing another string of the most foul cusses spill past your lips and echo through his bedroom door. The young man set peeled off his headphones from around his neck, setting them down on his desk. He leaned down, his thumb hovering over the mute button before clicking it.

"Yo, Jagiya." He called out, his knuckles tapped against the bathroom door, before he heard a loud crash. He didn't expect a such a sound to echo through the door over a spider, afterall most of the ones you had encountered weren't all that big and frightening. If anything, they were relatively smaller in size. "Y/n." He knocked with more persistence pressing his head against the door. "Are you aright, what's going on in there?" Before he had the chance to step away from the door, a loud scream followed by more things crashing resonated the bathroom door flew open, causing him to fall back to the ground with a choked gasp from the impact. You were right onto of him, staring at the bathroom with horrified eyes as your breathing rose and fell erratically. "TELL ME WHY THERE'S A SPIDER THE SIZE OF YOUR HAND ON THE WALL?!" You finally spoke, your eyes were brimming with tears as you stared down at him, shaking like you were left out in the cold.

"What?" Chan finally spoke, it was evident that he fought the urge to laugh, knowing you were in no mood to joke around. "Oh, love." He gently spoke, sitting up as he pulled you in closer to his chest, softly laughing into your hair, before pressing a chaste kiss. "I did warn you, didn't I?" His tone had a teasing edge to it when he noticed you had finally calmed down a bit. "You can go wait in the room, and I'll take care of it, yeah?" Your body slightly eased from the tension that seized your muscles, you nodded, mustering a small smile when he kissed your cheek. Adjusting your bathrobe, you made your way into the closet of your room. Your senses a lot keen and on the looks for any other disgusting spider that could've been hiding within an undiscovered crevice. You grabbed your lotion and other toiliters, with great caution as if a spider was lurking in some corner ready to attack you. When you were finally moisturized and dressed, you slipped past the closet door, and into the room. Chan was sitting in his usual blue gaming chair, berry happily wagging his tail as his paws rested against the desk standing up on his hind legs and staring into the phone camera as he panted. He was answering a few question in what you only assumed was his live stream. He turned his head in your direction, shifting at the right side of his headphone. 

"You're back, any other spiders in there?" He teased, his eyes twinkling with a mischievous gleam.

"Bugger off, you're really not funny." You grumbled, shoving his shoulder aside before grabbing an extra chair and setting it besides him. He gasped mock-offended as he laughed, humming in amassment. "Oh, but I really am quite the Dag." He winked, tucking one of your braids behind your ear. "Look, spiders aren't all that bad, once you get to know them."

"Get to know them my ass."

10. Just Hold On (with Steve Aoki) [2016]

We’ll happily admit that Tomlinson’s first solo outing followed a fairly safe formula – squeaky clean, harmonic vocals (supplemented with plenty of “woah-ohs”) flowing over the unique kind of pseudo-clubby bubblegum pop beat Steve Aoki is a certified master at – but for what it is, Just Hold On is exactly what it should be. Back in ye olden times (2016), it proved to us that Tomlinson had the chops to carry a pop banger on his own, lapping up every lumen of the spotlight. And listeners seemed to agree: the song went Platinum in five territories (including Australia), came just one spot shy of topping the UK charts, and still pops up in Tomlinson’s live sets from time to time.

9. Back To You (featuring Bebe Rexha and Digital Farm Animals) [2017]

Tomlinson’s second track as the headline act landed some 16 months after Just Hold On, making for one of the most brutal waits we’ve endured between a debut single and its follow-up. But it’s without a doubt that Back To You was worth the wait, shining with an equally cool and catchy beat, and an impassioned vocal performance (carried by emotive lyrics tailored for maximum swoonability) that made it undeniably clear: Tomlinson was always the biggest heartthrob in One Direction, and goddammit, he’s still their biggest heartthrob in his solo era.

Bebe Rexha’s vocals add so much colour to the tune, too, as her smoky swagger gels with the sweetness in Tomlinson’s own delivery. Us here Down Under were especially stoked on Back To You – racking up three Platinum certificates and a peak at #11 on the ARIA Charts, it remains Tomlinson’s biggest single as a solo artist.

8. Two Of Us (2019)

Though it came out a solid 15 months after lead single Miss You, it was Two Of Us that really kickstarted the cycle for Tomlinson’s debut solo album, Walls (which arrived in January of 2020). It was a bold choice for that role, too, as a deeply emotive ballad steered by haunting grand piano chords and widescreen orchestration. But it was a power move: the song itself is striking and cuts deep with authentic pangs of grief, Tomlinson’s vocals swelling from lowkey and melancholic to intensely poignant as the music builds. Thematically, too, it’s one of his most important efforts – a touching ode to his late mum.

7. Walls (2020)

The title track from Walls is another ballad, but this one stands out a little more with its ear-pricking instrumentation, channelling the greats of ‘90s Britpop with its coolly strummed acoustic guitars, droning pianos and atmospheric string- and synth-work. Released as the album’s fifth and final single, it offered a fantastic summary of everything we’d heard thus far, from the searing pain he poured out in Two Of Us to the energised pop-rock of Kill My Mind.

Then there’s the lyrics – some of Tomlinson’s most gripping and evocative – with the chorus in particular standing out for its motivational punch. He sings: “These high walls, they came up short / Now I stand taller than them all / These high walls never broke my soul / And I, I watched them all come fallin' down / I watched them all come fallin' down for you.”

6. Bigger Than Me (2022)

Tomlinson’s newest era began last September, when he dropped the lead single from Faith In The Future: a rousing slow-burner called Bigger Than Me. It’s the perfect song to bridge the gap between his first and second albums, starting off as a lowkey acoustic number and growing into a big, bold pop anthem you could scream along to at the top of your lungs. It swells into a peak around three minutes in, where Tomlinson is virtually howling to contest with the operatic strings, spirited drums and scene-stealing synths. When we first heard Bigger Than Me, it felt like a proper reintroduction to Louis Tomlinson – and goddamn, were we keen to learn more about this new version of him.

5. Just Like You (2017)

After launching his solo career with two collaborative tracks, Just Like You marked the very first time we heard Tomlinson without a guest singer or heavyweight producer. Released standalone in October of 2017 – about a month and a half before Miss You kicked off the Walls era – this airy pop gem serves as somewhat of a theme song, very on-the-nose as Tomlinson literally opens it with a verse about how he’s “the guy from the one band” with the “whole world in [his] right hand”, prone to racking up “headlines that [he] can't stand” with his lavish escapades (“Night out and it's ten grand”)... Before explaining that as his fans, we “only get half of the story” when we see Tomlinson revel in all “the cash and the cars and the glory”.

Is it self-indulgent? Yeah, absolutely. But does it absolutely slap nonetheless? Yeah, absolutely.

4. Miss You (2017)

It makes sense that the music video for Miss You takes place at a party: accented by tasteful juts of an electric guitar and a thumping drum beat, the song feels triumphant and energising – the kind of song you’d blast in your room to hype yourself up while you get ready for an actual party. Following on from Just Like You in December of 2017, this was also the first time we heard Tomlinson shine on a track driven primarily by electric guitars, something we’d hear a lot more of on Faith In The Future, but felt like a special treat on Walls.

3. Kill My Mind (2019)

Remember how we noted that Walls (the song) saw Tomlinson channel an ambiguous ‘90s Britpop flavour? We can be a little more straight-up with Kill My Mind – this song is Oasis as fuck. But we say that as nothing but a compliment: charging forward with brisk strumming and animated drums, the artist’s vocals soar overhead, his thick Yorkshire accent gripping as he sings passionately: “You kill my mind / Raise my body back to life / And I don't know what I'd do without you now.” Honestly, I don’t know what I’d do without this absolute banger in my morning playlist.

2. Written All Over Your Face (2022)

Walls was a stellar album, no doubt about it – this list features three songs from it, after all – but it’s with Faith In The Future that Tomlinson has really come into his own as a solo artist. The headstrong rock’n’roll energy weaved throughout it peaks on Written All Over Your Face, clear from the outset as, over a punchy drum beat and rollicking bassline, the artist embraces his heartthrob personality, seeped in sensuality as he quips, “Hey babe / It’s written all over your face.” You’re telling us this is the same man that once sang on What Makes You Beautiful!? Sheer insanity.

1. Out Of My System (2022)

The latest single from Faith In The Future – a post-release pick that made impact earlier this year – is a punk-laced belter that stands out with ripping guitars and a downright explosive chorus. It feels like an almost oddly natural fit for Tomlinson, too, as he smashes through the more intense vocal delivery with stunning aplomb – he’s a bonafide rocker, and Out Of My System shows he’s much better suited to reign in this world than in bubblegum pop.

On his upcoming Australian tour, Tomlinson will play three of the biggest and most renowned venues in the country – two in the open air (sorry, Sydney) – and this is the exact kind of song those venues were built for: a rip-roaring anthem-in-the-making that no sane human could stand still (or, God forbid, sit) for.

INT CARRIE BICKMORE: Louis Tomlinson welcome to The Project!

LT: Hello, hello, thanks for having me.

INT BICKMORE: Great to have you here. I mean, It’s been a long time in the making. Two years I think since this tour was meant to happen. You played your first gig in Brissie last night, how did it go?

LT: It’s amazing, the crowd were unbelievable. I think it’s about 7 years since I’ve been in Australia. Absolutely love this country and the crowd were amazing.

INT PETER HELLIAR: And this was your first tour without the old band of course, are you loving the freedom that comes with being a solo artist?

LT: Yeah it’s exciting but it’s also challenging, you know, being part of a group, you can only put so much of yourself into that, so suppose this tour, it’s just been – it’s already taught me quite a lot, to be fair. I’ve had to kind of take on my own independence musically and creatively, but that’s definitely been fun.

INT WALEED ALY: I feel like you’ve all done that creatively. Solo stuff sounds quite different to the stuff you were doing together. I imagine it’s very different writing a song when Simon Cowell isn’t breathing down your neck and ticking things off.

LT: [makes this face]

INT BICKMORE: [laughs like she knows Simon's evil]

INT ALY: Like do you – like is there – is there some kind of feeling that you’re finally doing the music you’d always wanted to do?

LT: For myself, yeah, for myself, definitely, but I think you know when you look at the One Direction stuff, that’s stuff that I’m obviously immensely proud of. And you know it was kind of amazing for what it was but obviously now I’m going out and doing my own stuff. For me it’s just been about trying to create the record that I want to create but also, you know, not alienating the fans – kind of meeting in the middle of those two ideas really.

INT LISA WILKINSON: Well your fans are very passionate and they do occasionally like to throw gifts at you onstage. You’ve had plenty of things hurled up there over your career. What is weirdest thing that has either ever landed in front of you or hit you?

LT: That’s a good question, to be fair. Someone threw a burger up the other day, it’s kind of random, I threw it back, to be fair – [making this face thinking about fans]

INT WILKINSON: Was it still in the wrapper?

LT: It was still in the wrapper to be fair, yeah, untouched, yeah, but I didn’t eat it.

INT BICKMORE: You said it was 7 years since you’ve been here last time. What are you wanting to do Down Under? Is there stuff you didn’t get to do last time or that you loved doing last time that you can’t wait to do again?

LT: Not anything too specific really, I just - I just love this country, I love being here. I’ve done a lot of traveling this year and I’ve seen a lot of different places but Australia feels close to home, it’s just a shame we’ve come in winter, the weather’s shit.

INT ALY: Although have you seen the weather in the UK? It’s not looking much better right now.

LT: Yeah man, yeah, yeah, yeah, it’s crazy, it’s crazy.

INT HELLIAR: Louis, there’s been a bit of 1D beef recently thanks to Liam, he’s been speaking out about the band a little bit. When you look back on your experience with the band how do you feel about those days?

LT: Oh so the fishing’s begun already, um, yeah, I see what you’re doing. No listen, I – I – I’m immensely proud, as I know Liam is, I’m immensely proud of those days, obviously, I mean, you know, it was an incredible thing to do and especially at such a young age. Amazing memories, man, amazing memories.

INT BICKMORE: But Louis when you say, Oh, you know, the fishing’s begun, I imagine it is so annoying having to answer retrospective questions like that. I’m genuinely interested - how much do you want to talk about that time in your life to the media versus how much you never want to have to talk about it ever again?

LT: No, good – good – good question, I mean, I’m more than happy to talk about it in every interview, it’s something I’m immensely proud of as I’ve already said, it’s just when you mentioned the beef before it sounds like you were getting ready to stir some shit up, that’s all I’m saying.

INT BICKMORE: No, I’m not actually –

INT HELLIAR: No I’m not a shit-stirrer, Louis, do I look like a shit-stirrer?

LT: [laughs but doesn’t answer]

INT ALY: These guys definitely aren’t stirrers, Louis, but I am, and I’ve spotted something overnight –

LT: [laughs] Here we go –

INT ALY: - that will make you incensed. It turns out that a Texas university announced overnight that it’s launching a new course on Harry Styles called Harry Styles And The Cult of Celebrity. That should be you, shouldn’t it?

LT: [eyes narrowed, looking irritated] Yeah, I don’t really have any interest in having a course made about me, to be fair, but each to their own.

INT ALY: I mean it’s a very strange thing not to be interested in?

LT: You sound very interested, to be fair, maybe you should sign up. [tight lipped sharp smile]

INT BICKMORE: He’s done every degree you can imagine, just add that to your list.

INT ALY: Louis, I may have designed that course.

INT WILKINSON: Walls, your debut album, dropped over 2 years ago now. When can we expect a follow up?

LT: Soon, soon, very soon. I’m pretty much done with the record, feel really excited about it, that’s all I’m going to say.

INT HELLIAR: And what’s it called, Louis?

LT: Not telling you, not telling you. You’ll have to wait and see.

INT HELLIAR: Just give us the track listing then.

LT: Not having none of that.

“You’re sure you won’t come in with me?” Taeyoung asked, hugging Aaron T.

“I know you’re nervous about going home, but I haven’t seen my mom in two months.” Aaron reminded him. “She just got engaged and we have to talk about moving out. Plus, she’s my mom and I missed her.”

“Then can I go with you?” Taeyoung held on tighter. “I’m sure my parents won’t mind if I stay at your place for a few hours.”

“Yeah, right. Your mom would kill me if I kept her baby away for a second longer than I needed to.” Aaron rolled his eyes. “I don’t know what you’re so worried about anyway. You know your mom’s gonna be ecstatic to see you again.”

Taeyoung was quiet. “And my dad…?”

“I mean, I know he’s a little quieter but I’m sure he missed you.” Aaron assured him.

The bus came to a stop.

“This is you, Taeyoung.” Courtney called him from the front of the bus. “I think I can see your mom at the window already.”

“Thanks, Courtney.” Taeyoung started to get up. “Guess I can’t stall. I’ll see you on—”

“Wait, Tae.” Aaron took off his hat and placed it on Taeyoung’s head. “I may not be going in with you, but I’m still there for you.”

Taeyoung smiled. “Awwww, thanks, Aaron.” He hugged him again. “But wait, you hate being without your hat.”

“I’m just going home. It’s no big deal.” Aaron shrugged. “Besides, you can give it back when you come over tomorrow.”

“I feel better already.” Taeyoung said with a small sigh. He grabbed his bags and adjusted the hat . “Well, here goes nothing.” He got off the bus and walked what felt like a mile to the front door. He looked over his shoulder and saw Aaron waving as the bus drove off. Before he could wave back, he was being pulled into the house.

“TAEYOUNG!” Dasom yelled as she hugged him. “Oh, baby, I missed you so so much. Don’t ever leave me for that long again.” She gave him a million little kisses.

“Mom, please.” Taeyoung chuckled a bit. “Plus, you know we have another tour in Australia this October.”

“Well, then your father and I will simply have to take a month’s vacation to Australia this year.” Dasom shook her head. “I can’t stand to be apart from my baby that long.” She hugged him again.

“I don’t think either of you can take a vacation that long. Especially not Dad.” Taeyoung grinned. “By the way…where is he? Is he home?”

Dasom paused. “Oh, uhhhh—”

“Jagi, the jacuzzi’s ready for—” Jihun stopped at the bottom of the steps. “Oh. Taeyoung, you’re back.”

“Hi, Dad.” Taeyoung waved awkwardly.

“Uh…how was the trip?” Jihun asked.

“It was okay. I got a little sad on Christmas since I was away from you and M—”

“Good, good.” Jihun cut him off. “I’m glad you had a good time.”

There was an awkward pause.

Taeyoung started walking towards him with open arms. “I missed you, Dad.”

“And I missed you, son.” Jihun nodded, stopping Taeyoung before they could hug. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go drain the jacuzzi.” He headed back upstairs with a look of disappointment.

“I guess he got used to me not being around.” Taeyoung said quietly. “Now I feel kinda bad for ruining your fun…”

“No, no, no!” Dasom rushed over to him, gently cupping his cheeks. “Your father and I missed you everyday you were gone. We just got a little taste of what it’ll be like when you get married and move out, and to be honest I didn’t like it one bit. Okay, well maybe a little.”

“Mom, please.” Taeyoung groaned. “He didn’t even hug me. You don’t have to sugarcoat it.”

“Oh, dear, you know how he is.” Dasom stroked his hair. “He’s just not very good at showing affection.”

“Every Valentine’s Day, birthday, and anniversary of yours, he buys you red roses, takes you out to dinner at your favorite restaurant, and spends the night with you at a hotel.” Taeyoung narrowed his eyes. “I get shipped off to Aaron’s house even though Valentine’s Day is literally my birthday.”

Dasom frowned at her son. “Awww, sweetie. I—”

“Jagi?” Jihun called from upstairs. “I accidentally added bubbles instead of draining it.”

Dasom started giggling. “I’ll be right there.” She called up to him. “Why don’t you unpack your bags and have some dinner? There’s some kimbap in the fridge.”

“But, Mom, I kinda wanted to talk about—”

Dasom rushed up the stairs and shut the bedroom door behind her. Taeyoung sighed as he was met with silence once again.

FFN: How does it feel to be back [in Australia]?

Louis: Honestly, it’s amazing, man, amazing, obviously a long way from home, but I was just saying, the feeling of selling out these shows so far away from home, it’s amazing. The shows themselves have been incredible. So, yeah, can’t complain!

FFV: This booked in for 2020, and the world got hit with Covid, coz my daughter [a huge Louie] who’s 16 today, you have no idea man, had a 16 birthday party and there were 20 girls screaming. 
Louis: [chuckles]

FFV: Booked in 2020, and they been waiting this long to see you and are super excited to go tonight.

Louis: I think I’m blessed that I got a relation with my fans that comes across the live shows, that’s amazing man, happy birthday to her.

FFN: She [his daughter] was telling me this really cool stats, that you’re the highest download, hm, something billion people saw an artist live when you were at a festival, and you live streamed, and they all turn up and watched you and you also raised a million dollars for charity.

Louis: Yeah, the thing she was maybe referring to the live stream I did, yeah, yeah—

FFV: Yeah, livestream.

Louis: Loved that, yeah man, that was an amazing time for me, I didn’t know what to expect and obviously like you put a venue you can count how many people are there, so really didn’t know what to expect, and the reaction was incredible. Just another time me fans have surprised me.

FFV: I got not many followers on instagram, and I do a live there’s a few hundred people, so to think of that many people when you log on, you must have been nervous thinking “oh Jesus, hope everyone tunes in” and then they tuned in, and you raised that money for charity, that must be, for you to do that, and also think about other people. That’s a big part of who you are, that must make you feel pretty special that you can do that for charities? 
Louis: Yeah, definitely, it’s amazing to be able to do those things but I also wouldn’t be able to do those things without the fans, really, is just another nice little moment we shared together.

FFV: You’re in the Guiness Book [livestream] record, that’s must be pretty cool?

Louis: You, you’re making it! [laughs] No, it was amazing, amazing, man, obviously, it’s also nice, again, to just have something like that, The Guiness Record, actually has a direct… Fans, you know what I mean? It was like I got in for eating the most donuts, you know what I mean? A) Is nice to be in something that felt right at the time but also something that I’m super thankful for for the fans, again, I wouldn’t be in that book weren’t for them [fans]. So, that’s cool

FFV: I’m not gonna talk about One D at all—

Louis: [laughing] You can, you can!

FFV: My daughter did tell me, which is amazing, she said 12 years the day you got created, that’s crazy!

Louis: Crazy, man, crazy! 12 years ago, is mental, and I was 18 when we got formed as a band and I’m 30 now, it’s crazy!

FFV: I actually hang out with one of your 1D mates, Niall, and he—

FFV: Every time he’s in Australia, he went straight to the pub, he just loved to go to the pub—

Louis: Yeah, I’m not gonna lie, this has been the best year I’ve had in a long time, because I’ve been working towards this tour for a long time and the fact that it’s gone way above my expectations, I just feel really really really good about this shit, man.

FFV: Do you get nervous still?
Louis: Yeah, yeah, I do, I do but I used to get loads more nervous. When you’re in a band and you share the stage with people and then you go from that to being on a stage on your own, you feel that space, man, you realise you gotta fill that space and you go through all these different emotions and reasons to get nervous about in that situation.

FFV: I went to watch a 1D concert with my kids, and I recommend, being in that center piece of [screams]. I remember watching Robbie Williams in England somewhere and there was 300k people and he was just singing and absolutely…. Like imagine being that person? Everyone’s just looking at you and that’s what you get to do now, everyone’s there for you, everyone’s singing your lyrics, must make you just feel like ticking it/clocking all [the boxes]

Louis: Yeah, man, it’s exactly as you described, it’s an unbelievable feeling and also, you know, there’s times where since I’ve gone, eh, since I started my solo career that’s been tiring, that’s been challenging, frustrating, and I never want to hang on me boots and ‘I don’t wanna do it [music] anymore’ but there has definitely been times that’s been though, so to have the reward of sharing these great shows, it just makes everything worth the while

Fans hoping for an autograph from singer Louis Tomlinson were sorely disappointed on Friday when the former One Direction star snarled at them to ‘get out of the f..king way’ after jetting in.

[The former One Direction singer took to X – formerly known as Twitter – on Tuesday to answer fan questions about his tour. After one fan asked, "Louis(,) how do you make chicken parmesan?" Louis responded, "You start by realising all these ridiculous childish theories and conspiracies are wasted time and energy and then just throw the chicken in the oven to be fair. Simple stuff." Some users wondered if the singer was referring to the "Larry" fan theory, which speculates that Louis once dated former bandmate Harry Styles.]

Former One Direction star Louis Tomlinson received a warm welcome when he arrived in Sydney on Friday morning ahead of his national tour, however it wasn’t well received.

Flanked by security, a steely looking Tomlinson stormed through the Sydney airport terminal, before telling his fans to “get out of the f..king way”.

The 32-year-old solo artist was clearly hoping to make a stealth arrival, dressing down in a low-key graphic T-shirt, sweatpants, a cap and sunglasses, however his fans instantly recognised him and swarmed in for photos and autographs.

The singer is scheduled to kick off his national tour in Melbourne on Sunday. He will then play arena shows in Sydney and Brisbane.

When announcing his return Down Under, Tomlinson said: “Australia is somewhere I’ve always loved and really enjoyed visiting.

“I have some incredible tour memories there and I can’t wait to return and bring the Faith in the Future tour to Australia.”

Tomlinson is touring in support of his recently released second solo album Faith in the Future, a collection of songs “designed for the live environment.”

Faith in the Future became Tomlinson’s first chart-topping album in his home country, while it also reached the top five in Australia and the US. It was the follow-up to his 2020 debut, Walls, another strong performer on the global charts.

During his last visit, a confrontational Louis made headlines after he accused The Project’s Carrie Bickmore and of attempting to create a One Direction feud.

“There’s been a bit of 1D beef recently thanks to Liam who’s been speaking out about the band a little bit. When you look back on your experience about the band, how do you feel about your experience of those days,” asked Hellier.

Tomlinson replied: “Oh, so the fishing’s begun already!

“Yeah, I see what you’re doing.

No, listen, I’m immensely proud, as I know Liam is.

“I’m immensely proud of those days, obviously.”

He took to the stage sober – and decided to rethink his rock’n’roll life

Taking to the stage sober has been a revelatory experience for Foals’ guitarist Jimmy Smith.

Mid-tour, from Santiago de Compostela in northwest Spain, he says he’s reassessed his relationship to the rock star lifestyle, avoiding the boozing, smoking and revelry … with exceptions.

“I’m basically done with partying every day, that’s the difference. I’ll wait for a good party then I’ll really go for it. The trouble with partying every day is that you just get so tired and so jaded, really quickly. I started hating absolutely everything – I was like ‘oh god, we’ve got to play a show’ … but that’s the reason you’re here! It just gets perverted and horrible, so it’s nice to put that in the rear-view mirror.”

There’s a romantic resignation in the lyrics of the British rock band’s seventh album Life is Yours, typified by the line on 2AM: “all my life I’ve been looking for a light/ that I can’t reignite again”.

That song is a homage to the wicked time zone between polite partying and self-destructive, habitual cycles, a precarious zone that each of the band members has navigated in their own way – lead singer and guitarist Yannis Philippakis most publicly, along with drummer Jack Bevan and guitarist Jimmy Smith.

“We’re all in our mid-30s now, and we can’t bounce back the way we used to,” Smith admits. “When I was locked down on my own in London [in 2021], I made a decision to have no alcohol in the house. I started feeling really good, and I didn’t want to feel bad again … The relationship with alcohol and performing is a rocky road. I have a rule that the first show [in each city], the most nerve-racking show, I’ll do sober and, in fact, I’m doing basically every show sober.”

Life is Yours is a tightly syncopated, disco-tinged rallying call to the dance floor. It’s a departure from Foals’ glib, glum 2019 albums Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 1 and Part 2, though the beautifully melancholic latter was their first album to top the UK album chart. The new album feels like the glamorous sister to their energetic 2006 debut Antidotes. Since then, the departure of founders and bandmates Walter Gervers in 2018 and Edwin Congreave in 2021 honed them to a tightly-knit trio. Did Smith question whether he’d stay?

“Yeah, definitely,” he concedes with a laugh. “I ask myself that every day. It was OK in a sense, because the three of us that are left are the core three, musically speaking, so we knew the music wasn’t under any sort of threat … it’s just sad. You spend every single day with these people and Walter is my best friend. I went to school with him. I used to say it was my absolute worst nightmare if he decided to leave the band, then he said, ‘I’m leaving’.”

In 2011, just before the band headed to Australia to record demos, they lived and worked together like a family – but circumstances have changed with maturity.

“It’s important to allow yourself more space, certainly the older you get and the longer you do this,” says Smith. “I’ve realised it’s important to not be around people all the time, and post pandemic I’m finding that fairly exhausting. I love my bandmates to bits, they’re like my brothers, but my god, can they be annoying … the family thing is still true though, we’re getting closer and closer, really.”

That closeness has translated into joyful, triumphantly hopeful music. The upbeat party vibe is also thanks to the pop-rock veteran producers the band worked with, including Dan Carey (Tame Impala, Fontaines D.C.) and John Hill (Florence + the Machine).

There is a sense of having moved on from Foals’ stage show antics, replete with Philippakis’ proclivity for diving into crowds, climbing onto speakers and getting into brawls with security.

At Glastonbury last weekend, the lead singer promised the crowd a “f---ing mad one”. But their music reflects the glow after the madness: as the track Looking High suggests, “I’ve already skipped the town/ I’ve packed my bags/ I’ve found new ground
