also thinking about the end of wyll's questline if you save the duke and if you talk to him hes like "well i should confront my father..." and for some reason one of the dialog options is to just be like "lmfao what a daddy's boy. gonna go talk to your daddy? you fucking baby?" i dont think ive ever been more insulted by a mean dialog option how dare you.

Headcanons for being Hope van Dyne’s child
Hope van Dyne x child!reader
Scott Lang x stepkid!reader
warnings: insects (ants), sharp weapons
a/n:
prompt: anonymous: “Happy holidays darling! Would you write HC for Hope Van Dyne's child? Love the step-parents HC 🥰”
Tumblr media
growing up as a lil smarty pants
grandpa hank was pretty proud, although he didn’t see you very much
once every few years
but he did tell you all these crazy stories about his adventures that you honestly thought were just fiction (until you were older)
“and i was as small as an ant, but i was still incredibly strong! remember that, kid. just because you aren’t as big as someone else doesn’t mean you can’t beat them” -hank
“y/n doesn’t need to be hearing those stories, hank” -hope
“why not? they have important life lessons in them!” -hank
“why does mommy call you ‘hank?’” -you
“because mommy hates grandpa, isn’t that right?” -hank
“okay, i think that’s enough of this visit. come on, y/n, time to go” -hope
your mom was very supportive of you, nonetheless
she wanted to be different from her dad
so she showed up to EVERYTHING
birthdays, sick days, tucking you in for bed, parent-teacher conferences, art shows, you name it
“here’s some tea, jellybelly. it’ll make your throat feel better” -hope
“mom, i think i’m dying” -you
“you’ll be fine” -hope, givin’ u a kiss on the forehead
life wasn’t like, extra crazy or anything. sometimes she’d bring you to work and honestly? darren cross didn’t seem like the worst guy. he even brought you whatever you might need if your mom was staying late at work
“hey, van dyne junior! i brought you a puzzle that might keep you busy for a while...and a happy meal from mcdonalds! let me know if you need anything else, me and your mom will just be in the lab for a little while” -darren
“thank you!!!” -you
uh huh, ur mom taught u manners!
anyways you started spending more time with your grandpa cuz they had a plan
thats when you found out that his “turning small” stories were not, in fact, bullshit
“wait grandpa...you actually did shrink as small as an ant?” -you
“why would i lie?” -hank
okay well cue you wanting to shrink down to ant size now it was your new aspiration
you did learn how to command ants tho!!!!!!
but unfortunately (or not so unfortunately) hank brought scott to the party
“hi!” -you, waking scott up
“what?!” -scott, jumping back against the headboard
“hi.” -you, staring at him “im y/n. these are my ants”
bullet ants were just crawlin around the place
“oh, that’s....that’s cool. any chance you could tell me where i am or how i got here” -scott
“wouldn’t you like to know, weather boy” -you, leaving abruptly
“are you bothering our guest?” -hope, watching you proudly nod “good job, jellybelly”
mom taught u how to punch 🥰🥰🥰
and let you use scott as a punching bag
but scott wasn’t like awful or anything he was just insufferable at times
“i think you’d like my daughter cassie. she’s weird and smart just like you” -scott
“did you just call me weird? mom, can i punch him again?” -you
“no no no! i meant weird in a good way! please dont hurt me anymore!” -scott
chasing him around the yard ready to ATTACK
hank had to tell u to cut it out
“dont tell them what to do” -hope
“someone has to” -hank
“excuse me? i parent y/n just fine, better than you ever did for me!” -hope
“do they do this often?” -scott
“every time they see each other but that’s not very much” -you
“hm...hey, do you like ice cream? specifically baskin robbins?” -scott
ur mom said “we do not associate with idiots ❤️” and then proceeded to associate with said idiots
scott did end up saving u from darren tho bc that mf tried to hold u hostage and scott was really not in the mood for that bullshit
“you alright, y/n?” -scott
“murder is okay, right?” -you
after that whole ordeal he and your mom were kinda a thing uh huh
and he introduced you to cassie!!! she was amazingly sweet and you could def see the family resemblance
“is this my new sibling?! i’ve always wanted one!” -cassie
“hey, me too!” -you
you hung out with her on a weekly basis, with or without scott
and mom and grandpa were working on a ✨special project✨
one you insisted on being apart of
“no, y/n, we can’t make you your own suit. you’re too young for this sort of thing” -hope
“pleaaaaase mom? i swear i’ll he responsible with it!” -you
“you’re mother is right, y/n. you’re just not ready yet. maybe someday, but not anytime soon” -hank
scott took you on family bowling trips yes he did
and just corny stepdad shit
but he went to germany and mom and him broke up and FF to two years later when you guys had finally reunited
“scott!! you asshole!!” -you, like this -> :)
“kiddo!! sorry to hear that!!” -scott, same energy
shading him the whole time
“ach mein gott” -you
“are you kidding me, y/n? i make one mistake. ONE” -scott
“you’re one mistake has caused me to live in MINIATURE HOMES” -you
“THAT SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD THING” -scott
“WELL IT’S NOT” -you
“did you at least miss me?” -scott
“sicher habe ich” -you
“god dammit” -scott
surprise!! u kind of had a suit (for emergencies)
as a van dyne/pym, it was almost a necessity to know how to use pym particles
scott acted like a proud dad
“wow, you’re really doing it!!!” -scott
“halt die klappe” -you
“please stop” -scott, tearing up
finding out about ✨grandma✨
she possessed scott and touched ur face and told you that she was so excited to meet you but you didn’t know wtf was going on and you had the urge to smack scott but THANKFULLY you did not
“i have to meet her for real! let me help you guys!” -you
“okay” -hope
“what? really?” -you
“it’s about time we put your genius to good use” -hope
scott offered you a high five for that and u literally accepted it
“don’t get too happy, that was just an in-the-moment thing” -you, watching scott’s eyebrow raise “fine. you can have a hug”
okay okay well everything went okay and then half the world ~vanished~ including ur whole family but like cassie and her family took you in and you spent five years very alone and upset until one day cassie called you downstairs and whoopdedoo???? scott???????
“is my mom with you?” -you
“sorry, sport, she’s not...do you have your suit with you? we need to go on some...hero business” -scott
you missed scott a lot over the past 5 years, this really did cheer you up, even if it was just him
“how’ve you been holding up the past few years” -scott
“the world sucks, man” -you
“i can see that” -scott
he turned on some tunes for the two of you to enjoy otw to the avengers hq and it was probably the best memory you created since everyone disappeared
“wait, reach into the glove box” -scott
“oh, god, i hope there’s no rodents in here...” -you, reaching for a picture “is this..?”
“family photo!! you were little back then, i can’t believe how time flies. i mean, it flew really quick for me, the quantum realm is no joke” -scott
you were busy staring at the picture of your mom, you really missed her
busy ~saving the world~
and going to 2012 with scott
“hey uh just so you know, i might be able to make pym particles” -you
“‘might?’ and if we use faulty pym particles we ‘might’ die. would you like that?” -tony
“hey, back off, stark. they’re just trying to help” -scott
next thing u know ur in present day and THEN u actually got to hold the scepter bc scott let u
“im gonna stab you!!” -you
“no!!!” -scott
the other avengers, literally mourning natasha while you chase him around with a sharp weapon: 😧
okay after the place was destroyed u got to face mr. purple man and yo mama showed back up and saw you on the front lines
“y/n????” -hope
“mom????” -you
“scott!!!!” -scott
“really, scott? a shrek reference? now?” -you “...nice”
the reunion with your mom was short and sweet but you missed her forehead kisses and she gave you one immediately!!!! and she was crying but you were too bc damn
“listen, after this, we’re gonna have such a fun family night. i’m so sorry i couldn’t be there for you all this time” -hope
“mom, it wasn’t your fault...it was that purple bastard, let’s get him!” -you
“they grow up so fast...” -hope
i n s e c t f a m
insect fam killed it out there and then ✨attended tony’s funeral✨ together right after
that’s one solid family 😌💖
anyways time to celebrate a (halfway) return to normalcy
with your *sister* cassie and your mom and your...scott
you were just happy to all be together again, it’s been WAY too long

“I Wanna Be Just Like Mommy!”
a/n: this is to make up for my inactivity. (which is still ongoing lol bc school drains me)
Summary: a short hc to kick off my fall writing!
“Stevie! Wake up babe!”
Your husband groaned and curled into his side, pillow clutched to the side of his face as you leaned over his body, pressing kisses to his bare shoulder to wake him.
“ehhh.”
“C’mon! You promised Sarah and I to brunch today!”
At that, Steve shot up and looked at you, a worried look glossing over his face, his frown disappearing at your sweet smile.
“Oh shit. I’m sorry, I forgot! Give me like ten minutes.”
Steve then went to throw the covers off, when you pulled them back over him, shaking your head.
“It’s okay, silly. I was just waking you up early because I knew you forgot, after all you did have a mission yesterday.”
Steve Rogers was so grateful to have such a forgiving, and supportive wife.
Leaning forward with joy, he kissed you deeply, holding you close to him as you smiled into the kiss.
“Well, you rest up some more. I’m gonna go get ready, Sarah too. I’ll come wake you.”
You pressed a pucker to his cheek and dashed off to go wake Sarah, who was surprisingly in the kitchen.
As you walked passed, out of the corner of your eye, you spotted the little girl at the kitchen counter, sitting with her plastic princess bowl and spoon in front of her, a quart of milk adjacent to the bowl.
“Mommy! I was trying to make cereal, but daddy put the box on the top shelf.”
Smiling, you walked to the little girl’s chair and kissed her messy nest of hair, patting her shoulder before venturing off to reach the box of Frosted Flakes.
Returning to Sarah, you helped her pour the milk and cereal, your daughter gladly accepting your assistance.
Finally, Sarah dug into the cereal, crunching it happily, even offering to share with you.
“Have some, mommy!”
Her little hand brought the spoon to your mouth as she fed you, just as you always did to her.
The two of you, were just as close as she was with Steve.
One of the things you shared with the little girl was your food.
Anytime you’d eat out, you’d put said food on a spoon or fork and feed it to her. Then in return Sarah would give you a chicken tender or an orange slice from her kids meal.
Not too long after, Sarah fisnihed her cereal, you finishing a cup of coffee along with her.
Dishes put away, you escorted Sarah to the bathroom where she got into the tub and proceeded to let you wash her up.
Minutes later, her knotted golden locks were dampened and you gently brushed them out as she sat on the toilet seat, telling of her adventures with Uncle Bucky at the museum where she saw some of Steve’s old pictures.
Sarah, just like you, was always interested to hear about Steve’s last. The 30’s/40’s seemed like an interesting era, and to hear about it from someone who wasn’t physically 100 years old was pretty cool too.
When her hair was dry, you did a little half up-half down, securing a pumpkin bow onto the ponytail.
The little girl still sat in her nightgown, outfit not yet picked out. Checking the time on your phone, the clock read 10:07 AM, meaning you should go get your shower, then change Sarah.
“Sweetheart, I’ve got to go shower myself, how about you watch some tv in my room while you wait?”
Like the most darling child she is, Sarah jumped off her seat and dashed into your bedroom, jumping on the bed, your side to be exact, Steve not even noticing, for he was in the deepest slumber ever.
You scrolled through the channels, stopping on nick jr. where some cartoon was playing, Sarah’s attention glued to it, allowing you to shower.
After you stepped out, you immediately picked up your outfit you had planned for today. Steve told you about the brunch last week and you just wanted an excuse to dress up.
So in honor of the fall weather, you bought a burgundy boucle knit sweater and some light denim jeans to kick off the season.
To complete the look, you wore black ankle wedge boots, paired with your wedding ring and a small necklace that was Steve’s mother’s.
Yes, your outfit was what some would call, aesthetically pleasing, for it was the epitome of fall.
As you were now dressed, you picked up Sarah from the bed, kissing Steve to wake up, which he did, and then going to change your daughter.
Once in her room, you set her down to search through the drawers when she stopped you with her little hands.
“Mommy, you look so pretty! I have a sweeter like that! Can we be twins?”
Her pronunciation and little baby eyes were so cute, as she begged to match with you.
Sooooo cute 🥺
Nodding, the girl ran around you and opened another drawer pulling out her own burgundy sweater as you fished around in your drawer for her denim jeans, which were slightly darker.
Handing her the outfit, she surprisingly dressed her self correctly, then going to sit on her bed, slipping on some socks. Which of course were mismatched.
As she did that, you went to the front door of the apartment, the mud room or drop zone so to say, and found her pair of boots. Brown leather ankle boots.
Sarah pulled on the boots and hopped off the bed, running to your bedroom. You were really hoping that Steve wouldn’t just walk out of the bathroom, naked, having forgot his clothes.
Relieved that he didn’t, you followed Sarah to your nightstand, where she handed you your phone.
“We need a picture, momma!”
Agreeing, you opened the camera and walked with her into the closet, using the floor mirror for a full outfit picture.
Duck faces, smiles, goofy grins, you must’ve taken at least fifteen pictures, ones you’d treasure for years to come.
After taking pictures, you and Sarah went to go sit on the couch, awaiting Steve who would be done any minute now...
“There are my pretty girls!”
Steve walked in, burgundy sweater of his own, jaw dropping as he was met with the two of you matching. Now apparently matching him too.
All three of you just burst into giggles.
“So are we going like this or am I gonna be the one to change.”
You walked over to Steve to hug him, Sarah joining in as Steve picked her up.
“No daddy! I think we all look pwetty like mommy.”
So before walking out, you all took one selfie, your burgundy sweaters prominent in the picture.
It definitely became your lock screen for the next few months.
And needless to say, everyone smiled at your family at the restaurant.
Captain America and family: matching trio.
Im so sad that this will never happen, but I’m so warm and fuzzy rn 🥺🥺
Sorry for any mistakes, I should be sleeping bc I have class early, so I didn’t edit this.
Tmrw I’ll add a read more button bc I wrote this on mobile 😐

Love Of My Life - Shawn Mendes (2/2)
im so soft right now, and i want a child brb im crying in the corner
part 1
drabble list masterlist
Tumblr media
Her tiny feet are fast on the tiled floor as she is slaloming between the rushing people in the hallway, occasionally earning a high five from someone, making her giggle so loud it echoes through the whole hallway.
“I got you!”
Picking her up you pretend to be biting into her stomach as her laughter never dies down, arms in the air, he adorable piggy tails bouncing around her head.
“Mommy! Mommy!” she screams happily, guiding her to your hip. She hold onto your backstage pass with one hand while she starts waving at a running technician who waves back happily.
With a four year-old on board, the venue is always a playground, not that anyone minds it. Skylar brings so much joy to everyone working on the tour, it wouldn’t be the same without her. It shows that she spent most of her first year on the road because touring is like a big adventure for her, she loves sleeping on the bus, exploring arenas and new hotels every other day, playing with her daddy in the parking lot before sound check and her favorite? Cheering for Shawn when he is on stage, singing his songs with gibberish words while clapping to the rhythm.
“Who is this happy little monster here?” Shawn calls out from the end of the hallway, her head immediately shoots in his direction and holding out her arms she basically jumps into his arms.
“Daddy! Mommy caught me!” she happily informs him pointing at you.
“She did?” he dramatically gasps before pressing a sloppy kiss to both her cheeks.
“Aren’t you supposed to be in your spot? Concert starts in three,” you ask Shawn as he grimaces at Skylar, making her giggle over and over again.
“Yeah, but I wanted to kiss my girls before going on stage.”
Leaning closer to you he presses his lips to yours, taking your bottom lip between his and sucking on it gently.
“Ew! Stop it!” Skylar grimaces, her fingers sneaking between your and Shawn’s mouth in attempt to make you part.
“You want one too?” he asks grinning at her and before she could even say a word, you and him kiss her cheeks, squishing her face and making her giggle again.
“Alright, I gotta go. Love you both.”
He hands her back to you and she waves him goodbye as he runs off, ready to blow the stage up. This tour means a lot to him. It’s been three years since the last time he hit the road, Skylar was just a baby and after all the struggles you went through during that tour, traveling around the world with a baby, you both agreed you need some time before doing it again, wait until she is older and easier to travel with. He was worried sick before the tour officially kicked off, stressing about how Skylar will do with being on the road, being away from home, but it all went to nothing when he saw how carefree and joyful she has been. The girl literally only needs mommy, daddy and her blanket she sleeps with at night and nothing else matters to her, making it easy to travel from city to city.
“Come on, let’s check out daddy on stage,” you tell her heading towards the stage as she starts cheering in your arms.
You grab her pink ear muffler on the way, making sure the loud music is not damaging her hearing and taking your usual spot you watch Shawn take the stage like a tornado, enjoying every moment he spends with his fans.
Putting Skylar down you let her dance around your feet, jamming to the music like she always does, her yellow dress twirling around her tiny figure every time she swings her hips to the side. You reach into your pocket to grab your phone and start recording here from behind with Shawn in the background, jumping up and down. Opening your Instagram you upload the short clip with the title “she got it from her daddy” and let your one million followers adore her cuteness.
“Hey, Y/N!” Robb, one of the workers from the venue calls out for you. “The shower in Shawn’s dressing room is acting up, but there is another one in the next room. Will you tell him to use that when he is done?”
“Sure!” you smile at him and he is just about to turn around and move on when his eyes widen and your mother instinct immediately warns you that it’s something with Skylar.
Turning around you don’t see her around you anymore, instead, the toddler is running on the stage, right towards her dad, arms up in the air as she is screaming at him.
“Oh shit!” you gasp immediately leaping after her, but it’s kind of too late. She is sprinting so fast, making the band go all “wtf” at her as she is running towards Shawn who is at the front of the stage. All eyes are on you and her as the crowd starts screaming her name.
Shawn’s head snaps back and when he sees the little girl reaching for him at first panic sets in his face, but then he realizes nothing really happened to her. Picking her up he sees you and you mouth him a sorry, but he just smiles at you warmly.
“I turned away just for a second,” you explain, trying to speak loud over the screaming in the arena. Skylar couldn’t be less bothered, giggling at the people clapping for her, waving at them as if the whole show was hers.
“It’s alright,” Shawn assures you fixing her dress with one hand. “I have an idea,” he smiles at her and you don’t understand his intention, but you walk backstage anyway, letting him do whatever he has on his mind.
“We have a special guest tonight. Skylar wanted to say hello,” he chuckles into the mic and holding it to her she basically bites into it mumbling a sweet hi to the people.
Walking over to the piano at the back he sits her down next to him as his fingers slide over the keys.
“This one is for you, Princess,” he smiles down at her, eyes shining as she is staring up at her daddy with endless adoration.
When the melody of Queen’s Love Of My Life starts you can already feel the tears dwelling in your eyes. Despite the sad meaning of the song, Skylar loves it. The first time she heard Shawn sing it at a rehearsal she was just two, trooped over to him at the piano, plopped down on the ground and stared up at him with breathtaking devotion, eyes never leaving his face as he sang the song beautifully, making everyone watch them with love warming their body.
She reacts the same way this time. Her eyes glued to his face as he sings the lines, making the whole arena go silent watching the enchanting daddy-daughter moment, enjoying to be part of such a wonderful thing.
Moments like this reminds you of how deeply you love him, your love growing each day if that’s even possible. He never fails to amaze you till this day, even after all these years you’ve spent with him and you are just hoping you’ve given back enough to him with your actions and that he knows how much he means to you.
When the song ends and the tune of the piano comes to a halt people start screaming, go crazy as he wraps his army around the little girl, hugging her tight to his chest as he tiny hands hold onto his neck.
Struggling with your tears you walk back, taking Skylar from his hands he leans to you capturing your lips in a sweet kiss before you walk off, letting him continue with his next song.
You keep an eye on Skylar cautiously for the rest of the show, not wanting to let her interrupt the concert one more time, even though it’s pretty clear no one would mind it. Once it’s over, Shawn runs off the stage and Skylar is right there, waiting to jump into his arms.
“Daddy! You sang to me!” she giggles ash Shawn holds her high before sitting her to his hip.
“Did you like it?” he smiles at her playfully.
“Yes! Again! Again!” she chants making both of you chuckle.
“I’ll sing you something at bedtime, okay?” he offers and she accepts it happily. “Come on, let’s get going.”
An hour later she is passed out in the middle of the king sized bed, hands above her head, legs thrown in the weirdest position, just like she used to sleep when she was a baby. Shawn is lying next to her, one hand on her stomach as he is watching her sleep peacefully. You join them on the bed, kissing his forehead gently before making yourself comfortable.
“Have I told you how much I love you?” he whispers, his eyes peeking at you.
“Not in a few hours, if I remember correct,” you smirk at him, the corners of his mouth turning upward.
“Then I love you and thank you for everything you do for our daughter and me. It means the world to me.”
“You are doing just as much for me and her,” you smile back at him, nuzzling your head into the pillow.
“Will do it for the rest of my life, I promise.”
“I know,” you whisper back, closing your eyes.

***
Thor felt love for his wife Jane and his friends but nothing compared to the little bundle of joy that he held in his arms. When Jane first told him she was pregnant, he was absolutely thrilled and now their daughter was finally here. She was perfect. Absolutely perfect. She took after Thor with his eyes and curly blonde hair but had her mother’s nose, lips and chin.
Fresh tears trickled down Thor’s cheeks as he admired his new daughter that was wrapped in a blanket.
“So beautiful.” Thor praised. His infant daughter grabbed one of his fingers, making him smile.
“You’re never going to give her back are you?” Jane asked as she saw how in love Thor was with their child.
“Never.”
Jane rolled her eyes. “May I remind you that I did all the work?”
“Okay, you can name her but that’s the best I can do.” Thor teased.
“I always liked the name Hannah.”
Thor smiled down at his daughter. “Hannah, daughter of Thor. I like the sound of that.”
***
“What do you think you’re doing?” Thor chuckled as he watched his little girl attempt to climb onto the throne.
She grunted, pushing herself up but to no avail. “Trying to sit on my throne.” she pouted.
“Your throne?” Thor questioned.
“Well someday it will be.”
Thor laughed, picking up his little toddler in his arms. “Yes, one day, little one. You are destined for greatness and someday you shall be the queen of Asgard. But for now, you’re my little princess.” He gently kissed her cheek.
“Dad! Not in front of Uncle Loki!”
He looked up to see his brother approaching them. “Don’t worry, I didn’t see anything.” He smirked, holding his palms up.
Hannah wiggled out of her father’s arms to run after her uncle. She hugged his legs before he picked her up and wrapped her arms around his neck. “How about we do some training today little one?” Loki asked.
“Okay.” Hannah smirked as she held up one of his daggers.
“You little sneak!”
They both laughed.
Thor stared at them. “You teaching my daughter to pickpocket?!”
Loki shrugged, trying to look innocent. “Figured I should teach her what I know.”
“She’s only five! Too young for daggers!”
Hannah rolled her eyes. “Told you he’d get mad when he found out.”
“Well you’re the one who picked in front of him.”
“You taught me.”
“Touche.”
“I don’t like my daughter playing with weapons.” Thor said sternly.
“Brother, hear me out….”
“Okay, I’m waiting.” Thor crossed his arms.
Loki cleared his throat but no words came out. Thor raised a brow.
“Never thought you’d let me get this far.” Loki admitted.
“Dad, he’s teaching me to defend myself.” Hannah spoke.
“Yes, what she said.” Loki agreed, nodding.
“Hannah darling, you’re only five.” Thor defended. “What do you need to defend yourself from?”
She rolled her eyes. “I’m a highly sophisticated five year old.”
“She’s not wrong.” Loki shrugged.
Thor sighed, seeing he was outnumbered. Looks like his daughter inherited her mother’s stubbornness. “Tell me you’re being careful.”
She nodded. “Haven’t even scratched myself yet, Father.”
“You should see her in action. She’s a feisty one!” Loki smiled at her proudly.
Thor sighed again. “I’d rather not.”
“So can we train Uncle Loki? Please?” Hannah batted her eyes and there was no way Loki could say no.
“Course. That is if your father is okay with it.”
They both looked up at Thor. “Pout your lips, he can’t resist when I do it.” she whispered to him.
Loki pouted his lower lip making Thor chuckle. “Alright. Just be careful. I mean it.”
“Thanks Daddy! I promise!”
***
That evening Hannah was in her bedroom with her mother Jane who was braiding her hair as she told of her adventures with Uncle Loki.
“Knives huh?” Jane asked.
She nodded. “You should have seen me, Mom! Uncle Loki said I was really good for my age!”
“Uncle Loki.” Jane sighed, still not his biggest fan. “I don’t like the idea of you playing with sharp objects honey.”
“Daddy said the same thing but he let me.”
Jane sighed again, padding her shoulders. “All done, sweetie.” They looked in her mirror, Hannah admiring her new French braid. “I love it, Mommy! Thank you!” She stood up to hug her and kiss her cheek, making Jane laugh.
“You’re welcome, sweetie.”
“You’re not gonna let me stop training with Uncle Loki are you?” She pouted. “We have a lot of fun.”
“You’re guilt tripping me aren’t you?” Jane asked.
“Maybe.” Hannah looked away innocently.
“Well I guess you should know how to protect yourself.” she said.
“Thank you, Mommy.” Hannah kissed her cheek again.
“This is my dagger.” She grabbed her weapon from her dresser and showed it to her. “Isn’t it beautiful?”
“Also dangerous.” said Jane, holding it in her hand. It was rather stunning. A black hilt decorated with green jewels. Swirls were carved in the blade.
“Uncle Loki gave it to me.” Hannah smiled proudly.
“The things he teaches you.” she sighed.
“You teach me things too, Mommy.”
“Like what?” she smiled.
“Well I know how to be nice and kind to everyone and you just taught me how to French Braid. Uncle Loki is teaching me self defense. Father teaches me about strength, loyal and honor.”
Jane smiled down at her, proud of what the woman her daughter was growing into. “We just want you to be safe is all.” She tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
“I know, Mommy. Like I told, Daddy, haven’t even scratched myself yet.”
Jane stroked her cheek fondly and kissed her temple. “It’s getting late, honey, let’s go to bed.”
“Okay, Mommy.”

Jane walked in the empty corridor, her daughter now asleep for the night. She had a few words to say to her Uncle Loki.
She knocked on his door and he answered. “Fancy seeing you here, Lady Jane.”
Jane rolled her eyes at the nickname. “I want to talk.”
Loki stepped aside to let her in. “I know we’re family now but that doesn’t mean I have forgotten about what you did in New York.”
This time Loki rolled his eyes. “Heaven's sake that was a lifetime ago.”
“Still, it happened.”
Loki didn’t respond.
“But I’m gonna put up with you because I see how much my daughter loves you. She admires you and she spent twenty minutes excitingly telling me about your training.” Her voice was laced with venom at the last word. “I don’t think it’s exactly appropriate giving five year olds sharp objects.”
Loki forced a dry laugh. “Thor said that to me as well and I understand but I also think you two underestimate her. She is more capable than you know. I am training her so she can be great.”
Jane sighed. “She can be great doing other things than fighting.”
“I’m not teaching her to fight. I’m teaching her self defense. There is a difference.”
Jane narrowed her eyes at him. “Whatever you call it, I want her to safe. Train her better, train her harder. Train her to where she can defeat even you.”
An uncomfortable silence settled between the two adults. “I will, I promise.” Loki swore. “I care about her more than you know as if she were my own. I would never do anything to put her in arms way. I would never make her do anything I wouldn’t think she was capable of.”
Jane stared at him, surprised by how genuine he sounded. He was telling the truth. “Just keep her safe.”
“Yes, Lady Jane. You have my word.”
Jane smirked. “Enough with this Lady Jane crap. It’s weird.”
Loki bowed making her roll her eyes. “I’m going to bed, goodnight.”

Thor never liked the idea of his daughter playing with weapons but he found himself watching from nearby as she and Loki train in the throne room. He cheered when she sent Loki to the floor, a knife at his neck. He had to admit she was rather good.
Loki chuckled. “Better. Much better.”
Hannah smirked. “Don’t worry I wouldn’t have actually stab you.”
“Thanks.”
She offered her hand and he took it but he pulled her into a headlock, forcing her to her knee with his foot.
“How many times do I have to tell you not to let your guard down?”
She grunted. “Damn it.”
He let go and flipped his dagger. “Letting your guard down can have deadly consequences. Never forget that.” He let her go and she cursed to herself. “Think that’s enough training for today.” It’s been years since his encounter with Jane but he has never forgotten the promise he made to her to making Hannah better than him in training.
Hannah scolded herself as she left the throne room, catching her dad in the hall. “Hey, Dad. What are you doing in here?”
Thor was caught off guard. “What? Oh, I was just uh, inspecting these columns.” He patted the one next to him. “Yup. Still sturdy.”
Hannah saw right through his lie. “You were watching me and Uncle Loki weren’t you?”
“No.” he scoffed, avoiding eye contact, crossing his arms.
“You’re so full of it.” she smirked as she and him went down the hall.
“You are pretty good, by the way.” Thor spoke, his arm around her.
“Thanks, Dad.”
She was twelve now and has become a rather excellent fighter but Uncle Loki still wasn’t entirely please. He was hard on her. All she wanted to do was please him but nothing seemed good enough.
She and her father stood out on the balcony, overlooking Asgard in all its glory. It was beautiful and she never got tired of it.
“Dad?”
“Yes, love?”
“When can I visit Earth? Mom is from there and you told me of all your adventures you had. Seems only fair I can come too.”
Thor sighed. “I thought about it. But I was going to wait till your older. Earth is...strange...dangerous. Here in Asgard, you’re safe.”
“But being safe all the time is boring.” Hannah complained. “I know how to defend myself. You saw. Please, Dad I really want to go.”
“Okay, let’s make a deal.” Thor said, Hannah hanging on his every word. “You can come along with me when you can defeat Loki in training.”
She scoffed. “That's not fair.”
“Never said it had to be fair. Or you can wait till you’re sixteen. Whichever comes first.”
Hannah groaned. “Fifteen?”
“Fine.” Like she would ever beat her Uncle.
Her father rested a hand on her shoulder. “Don’t worry, love.”
He gently kissed her on her head before leaving.
Hannah sighed. She stood there for what felt like hours, watching the sky change. She rested her forearms on the balcony, looking down and something caught her eye. She noticed a young boy, her age maybe a little older. Three other boys were surrounding him. He looked uncomfortable, almost intimidated like he was prey and the boys were a pack of wolves.
Hannah almost ignored them but when she saw them shove the cornered boy to the ground, anger boiled inside of her. If there was one thing she hated was bullies.
“What are you gonna do about it, blind boy?” the middle boy mocked. “Gonna go cry to your parents? Oh right. They’re dead.”
“Don’t you know? Blind boys can’t cry.”
“Good one.” The boys bumped fists.
The cornered boy felt utterly helpless as he was backed against the wall. One of them raised their fists but before he could punch him, Hannah suddenly dropped down between them, grabbing hold of his fist.
“Whoa, what the fuck? Where did you come from?” They jumped back, startled.
“Asgard.” Hannah answered, flatly.
“Move out the way, this isn’t your business.”
“Dude, that’s Thor’s daughter.” one of the bullies realized.
“So? I’m not afraid of her.”
Hannah looked back at the boy behind her. “You okay?” she whispered.
He nodded.
The lead bully took advantage and swung at her but she grabbed his arm, surprising him. “Bitch, please.” she scoffed, rolling her eyes. She twisted his arm behind his back and stepped behind his knee, forcing him to the ground. He cried out in pain.
“Hurt this boy again and I’ll break your wrists? Got it?”
They nodded and she let go, shoving him with her foot. They scrambled away like cowards with tails under their legs. She had to admit it felt good finally using some of the techniques her uncle has tought her.
She turned to face him. “It’s okay, I won’t hurt you. What’s your name? I’m Hannah.”
“Zander.”
“Hey, Zander. Why were they teasing you?”
“I’m blind.”
“Oh.”
“Thanks for saving me. You didn’t have to.”
“I know.” She smiled. He smiled back. She couldn’t help but notice how cute he was. He had messy black hair and freckles dusted across his cheeks and nose. His lashes were a mile long. His eyes were a milky white but they almost glowed. He was rather skinny and wore ragged clothes.
“I was just about to go home and have dinner. Care to join?” She paused. “Maybe after a bath?”
“W-why are you being nice to me?” His voice was frail and it broke her heart.
“Because being mean doesn’t help anybody. C’mon.” She offered him her hand again and he hesitated. She was the only person he knew that showed him any kindness. Her hand felt soft and smooth as his fingers curled around her own, the boy realizing that she truly meant no harm. That moment he swore his loyalty to her. She saved his life and one day he swore to save hers.
