Something about you had captivated him from the first meeting.

A stranger who sat next to him on the train when there were tens of open seats. Who looked at him with eyes that begged for help from a creep following you around. Who whispered a promise of a warm meal once the whole debacle concluded. Who he willingly went into the streets of Shibuya with, against all his mind and stomach's better judgement.

"Thank you," you said to him with the most sincerity he's ever heard from a person. "I couldn't make it up to you enough. Where do you want to go? I’ll pay for everything.”

Sincerity... that's what it was.

You were so open and true to yourself it was almost frustrating. He chalked up your kindness at your first meeting as a one off instance brought about by unsavory circumstance. But even after, at your unexpected dinner for two- you were just so, so honest.

Honest in the way you expressed the troubles in your family life. The difficulty handling the troubles in your school. The troubles of romance you've found yourself in. You were charming. Funny. Interesting.

Which is why he didn’t mind exchanging phone numbers. It’s why he didn’t mind more dinners and more train rides. It’s why he didn’t push away the kindness you’d show him and the gifts you’d give him. It’s why he started reciprocating the acts.

And it’s why a funny feeling started to grow in the hole in his chest- fighting against the urge to put all of his attention into his mission. Interest- is what he called it.

Love, is what it really was.

When you mentioned a boyfriend he was disappointed. He of course saw it coming, after you’ve spent nights complaining over growing feelings and him giving you advice in turn. But Akechi was fine with the disappointment, and he was fine admiring you from nowhere closer than across a table. Akechi would be fine just admiring from a distance.

Coming soon, he’d complete his mission and he would never see you again. Akechi chooses to ignore the bitterness that comes along with that last idea.

The more the dinners and gifts and kindness occurred, the harder his fall was to ignore. His gifts started to get more and more romantic when viewed from a certain lens, his stares started to get more and more longing. But as noticeable as it was, Akechi couldn’t help himself. You, in all of your kindness, funniness, and all of your interest, were a brevity of light in his hell of a life.

One night, you show up to dinner and say you’ve got a surprise for him.

“Oh? What’s the occasion?” A butterfly flies around in his chest and he can’t help himself but smile. Sincerely, he smiles.

“I wanted to thank you, for all the advice and help you’ve given me these past few months,” you look into his eyes and it makes his heart flutter. “Let me go get him really quick.” You stand up so quickly and he doesn’t have any time to register what you just said. Akechi sighs as he watches you leave the restaurant.

You come back and Akechi has to physically hold himself back from lunging at Ren.

Ren, who you hold hands with. Ren, who’s smiling after you. Ren, who looks at him with surprise. Ren, you boyfriend.

“Akechi?” He says, eyes widening.

“Ren.” He replies, gripping the table underneath him.

Of course.

Of course

Of fucking course.

“Oh! I didn’t know you guys knew each other,” you clap your hands with a smile, seemingly not noticing the glares emanating from Akechi.

Ren’s arm finds itself on your waist and Akechi wants to scream. “Yeah, we’re friends,” Ren’s tone is casual as he smiles at you.

“Mmhm, you could say that,” Akechi forces out a smile so insincere you can’t help but question it.

“I didn’t know Akechi was the one buying you all those gifts, treasure,” Ren says.

“And I didn’t know Ren was this boyfriend of yours, y/n,” Akechi sneers.

“Ah, sorry I never mentioned names to you guys,” you chuckle, honest to a fault. Unaware of the smugness growing within your partner. Unaware of the heartbreak that falls upon your friend.

Ren goes onto explain that you wanted to introduce your ‘two favorite boys’ to each other after months of talking about one to the other. That this dinner, which was supposed to just be you and Akechi, was going to be intruded on by Ren. He says it all with a smile that makes Akechi want to throttle him.

What a lovely surprise, Akechi thinks.

He tries to keep his cool despite the anger clawing at his chest. Betrayal from you for not telling him that this piece of garbage was your boyfriend. Envy towards Ren for having yet another thing Akechi longed to have.

Dinner concludes quicker than you pictured as Ren has a curfew to abide by. He leaves the restaurant to wait outside, you wanting to talk to your friend.

“You seemed uncomfortable with tonight, I’m sorry if I pushed this on you Akechi…” one glance at you shows all the truth in your statement and Akechi hates it.

He hates that he’s let himself trust in your honesty, in your gifts, in your dinners, in your kindness- he hates your truth and he hates this clawing in his chest.

But what kind of friend would he be if he left you feeling so guilty? After all, you’d just run into his arms afterwards.

“I was just surprised, is all. I’m sorry that I made you upset,” Akechi smiles, insincere once again.

“Are you sure?” You look at him with the most curious eyes, “I’m sorry if I made things weird by introducing him, really.”

“Please, don’t worry about it,” Akechi attempts to console you by putting a hand on your shoulder. “I’m just happy you’re happy. After all this time of complaining, haha.”

Your hand meets his and squeezes it slightly. “Thanks Akechi, it really means a lot.”

He takes one more look at you, holding his hand and smiling so, so genuinely at him.

“Anytime, y/n,” He says.

You leave the restaurant with Ren and he sees him pull you tight as you walk away. He sees the way you stare at him, lovingly, in a way that you’ve never looked at him. He sees you go to intertwine your hands. He sees Ren hold your chin and bring your face closer. Akechi looks away.

Admiring a distance is bullshit if he’s just watching you be stolen away by him. Admiring from a distance would be fine if it was anyone other than him.

It’s just gonna be one more reason as to why he needs to plant a bullet in your boyfriend’s skull.

hey! im kinda curious as to what your take on blossoomers dynamic is hsjsjjs

i rlly like ur writing and how u portray the ppg characters from what I’ve seen so I’d just like to properly see what u think of them 😖

sorry if you’ve gotten a question like this before!

It’s nbd! There so few posts about blossom and boomer that even if I had answered a similar question before, who am I to deny someone their rare pair content lolol

I did generally lay out how I interpret the boys and girls relationship here if you’re interested :) there’s also more below the cut!

Tbh Blossom’s one of those characters I have a hard time writing. Honest confession, she has a character personality I usually find boring probably because she reminds me too much of myself 😂 so I’m always trying to find ways to make her more fun for me to write. And when I realized I could do that best not shipping her with brick, I started pairing her with others, like Princess!

I ended up liking her relationship with Boomer more than I thought I would. To me, it doesn’t have to be a romantic relationship, but this duo would be so much fun to see in action.

When I’m pairing Blossom and Boomer together, I characterize Boomer as someone who wants to be respected and treated as a mental equal even though he’s not “traditionally” smart. And I’d believe Blossom would be able to give him that.

Blossom isn’t as rude as Brick, so she’d likely entertain Boomer’s ideas and see the merit in them before immediately putting them down, like his brothers do.

I also don’t think Blossom would be cruel enough to call people dumb or stupid (unless it’s her sisters, but that’s sister stuff, or if whoever really deserves it), so when Boomer starts beating himself up about being dumb in front of Blossom, who he sees as incredibly smart, and hearing her say “no, don’t say that about yourself, everyone’s smart in their own way,” that would probably be akin to a compliment that would go right to his ego.

So really, their relationship is built on shared respect. Blossom doesn’t treat Boomer like he’s incompetent, and in turn, Boomer listens to Blossom without arguing back like the sassy kid he generally is in the comics/show.

I also think their “flaws” compliment each other. Blossom’s serious, neat, and bookish. Boomer’s none of those. And while you could argue that Butch or Brick aren’t either, I’d say that Boomer is more so. Like going off fanon stereotypes, Brick is seen as her intellectual equal and they end up being too similar, and when paired with Butch, he’s characterized as a loyal henchman bad boy, which sort of exacerbates the characterization pedestal Blossom sometimes gets put on (does that make sense lol?). Like being a henchman sort of highlights Blossoms flaws in a bad way, not a “I’m forcing this character to grow” way, which depending on the story, can work out, don’t get me wrong.

But while Boomer listens to Blossom, he’s still Boomer about it. He hears what she has to say but sometimes he isn’t listening and he misinterprets what she really means, so they get into various forms of shenanigans, that stresses Blossom out but because Boomer is so “go with the flow” he ends up forcing her to relax and have fun. His general chaotic personality would force her to relax, and her serious lawful-good energy would force him to grow up and be responsible.

Basically, I think Boomer would be better at getting Blossom out of her comfort zone and vise versa.

And because they could have this vibrant relationship, you could really pull some meaningful character growth out of them and make a fic fun to read/write even if they’re not shipped together! But that’s just one way to construct their dynamic. It really just depends on the story you’re putting them in and the characterizations you want them to have!

It’d be fun to know what other people think!! People don’t dive much into these two together :)

im super new to non-western pop culture & i've been really baffled by the fan culture, like in general unless ur like, lady gaga or brad pitt or obama you don't get constantly stalked and/or harassed/assaulted (like being mobbed at the airport... that seems rly unusual to me) like it seems like korean or chinese actors/singers do. In ur opinion is fans being creepy just reported more often than in the west, or does it really happen more? it sounds so horrible

SORRY FOR THE LATE !!!!! i got this ask during finals week and started typing up a response and then got distracted w/ finals LOLOL and then i couldn’t find the ask because i didn’t realize i saved it as a draft .. first off, good god, as someone who’s been stuck in kpop hell for like 10 years, welcome to hell LMFAOOOOOO anyway as usual, anyone can feel free to call me out if i say anything problemtic but this is just my take

tldr: fuck entertainment companies for they way they structured idol culture

and you’re completely right, i’m gonna stick to idol culture because that’s what i know best and it’s much worse than actor fan culture (at least in k-ent) soo it all kinda boils down to this, the main difference btwn kpop idol culture and western music culture is that western artists have a fanbase that’s garnered mainly through their music, like yeah they have public recognition and sometimes they appear on stuff like good morning shows or whatever, but they’re marketed as artists that release music and there’s a set boundary between the fandom and the artist

in kpop not only are the idols marketed as talented artists, but they’re also like, a package, they can sing, dance, rap, but not only are they musically talented, most idols are trained to have a good personality to broadcast on tv/variety sense, so not only do companies profit off of idols’ music, but they also profit off of selling the idols’ personality as a whole and making them seem more friend/boyfriend-like to fans...so in exchange for being able to release good music to a large population of people, companies basically make idols let the companies sell them as a whole, and you can see this through so many aspects that we don’t have in the western world such as variety shows, promotional music shows, and fansigns for every single comeback/release. and it’s great to get to know and understand idols on a deeper level, because sometimes knowing who they are (well, not fully knowing but you know) kind of adds a level of depth to their music and us being able to understand their music. which is great, i think the aspect of kpop i like is being able to connect to idols through a little more than just their music, and as long as they’re comfortable with doing whatever they’re doing, i’m happy

so having this connection w/ fans kinda prompts them to want Their Idol to be #1 everything, which results in mass buying of albums/merch etc, and since some fans spend SOOOOOO much money on their idols, there’s like a sense of ownership(?) that’s being created? where some fans think they’re entitled to more of the idol’s life than they should be and idols are kinda put on some innocent pedestal where they’re all cute or hot angels that don’t do anything remotely problematic (think dating scandals, cussing on video-not even to other people but like dropping “shit” or “fuck” like normal ppl usually do, etc) but unfortunately there’s a good amount of fans everywhere that have a problem with these normal people things when idols partake in them, and this isn’t all fans, but it’s enough to make this fan culture thing toxic

so where this goes wrong with fans (and the answer to ur question) is that some fans kind of get obsessed with getting to know their idols and cross the boundaries that idols try to set between themselves and their fans, sometimes it can be curiousity to find out more about idols, or sometimes romantic love, point is, some fans go BATSHIT CRAZY

they illegally obtain idols’ private schedules (like if they’re filming on a variety show but no one’s supposed to know), obtain their flight iteneraries and stuff, sometimes fly WITH idols to other places, stalk idols, you probably know these fans as “sasaeng” fans, like if an idol group goes on a world tour (to like North or south america), the sasaeng fans WILL go to all or almost all stops. it’s crazy, but i guess they have enough money to do it

and i feel like this is because of the way entertainment companies have structured kpop and idol culture and don’t clearly set the boundaries between idols and fans when idols have so much public visibility. like it’s really fun to stan idols bc they release good music, do good things in society with what they earn (donating) and are hilarious on shows, and i will do my part as a normal fan to support them (buy album/merch/concert tickets when i can), but some fans just go beyond being normal fans and start to hurt these idols by stalking them, even if they don’t mean it

now i can’t say anything about c-idol culture bc it’s much smaller than k-idol culture, but you can see the same problematic things like a tracker being placed in wyb’s car etc

so anyway this is a long rant but tldr, i feel like it happens much more in idol-culture because they’re much more visible to fans than artists in the western world are

Zen- When he flirted with you over chat he did refer to you as very feminine, so to say you were nervous was an understatement. - You really liked him, and it seemed he really liked you, but you knew that your appearance could be called… unexpected. - Jaehee had short hair like you, but her face and body screamed femininity, while yours was much more androgynous. - It wasn’t that you had a problem with how you looked! - You just hoped that your appearance wouldn’t be a deciding factor between you and Zen. - So upon seeing a long white ponytail in front of you it was hard not to panic. - so, like the brave lil tomboy u were, you tapped him on the shoulder. - “Hm, yes-” - “Hi Zen! I’m, uh… I’m MC!” - His eyes opened slightly before a gentle smile took over his once surprised expression. - “You have no idea how much it means to meet you.” he grabbed your hands and kissed your knuckles, treating you like a princess. - “Z-Zen! Jumin- oh boy was he excited to meet you- Literally felt like a child on christmas morning- He was even more excited when you agreed to wear the dress he bought you. - you seemed hesitant but he concluded that you were worried about cost, which he ensured you he had covered. - he tried hard to keep composure but when word came through that you arrived he spoedwalked to the front of the party like it was NOBODIES business- Jumin is now Nyoomin- He looked around frantically until a gentle tug at his coat sleeve caught his attention.- “Hi Jumin, I’m MC.” you greeted warmly. - “MC…” He looked down upon you and you looked… uncomfortable. - “MC, are you okay? Is the dress the right size? You seem unhappy…”- Just like you could read through his bullshit he could read through yours. - You sighed, having dissapointed him in your eyes. - “I’m sorry Jumin, it’s a beautiful dress! And it fits like a glove! It’s just that… I don’t really like wearing dresses. It’s not my style, you know?
