The Daemonesses Of The Ars Goetia 🔥

It's unfortunate that cultural appropriation of Lilith and other Jewish daemonesses has such a large influence and prominent following in the Daemonolatry community nowadays. In order to counteract some of this, I wanted to offer alternatives to working with Lilith, specifically from the infamous grimoire that is the Ars Goetia!
The entirety of the Ars Goetia daemons are referred to as male. But are they all really just guys?
Although all 72 of the Goetian Daemons are referred to with masculine pronouns (he/him/his), I don't personally believe that all of the Ars Goetia are or identify as male/masc. I see daemons as gender-fluid and believe that they appear to everybody differently.
So here are the Goetian Daemons that I personally consider to be Daemonesses, in regards to my UPG! :)

NOTE: Please keep in mind that I have not communed or worked with every daemoness listed here. I have attained most of my knowledge of them through research and sigil gazing. And as always, this is just my UPG so please don't take this as fact! If what I've written here doesn't resonate with you, that's completely okay! NOTE: In this post I will be referring to the spirits listed as both goddesses and daemonesses interchangeably, as I see daemons as deities in their own right.

+: Queen/Countess Vinea :+
From the Ars Goetia: "The Forty-fifth Spirit is Vine, or Vinea. He is a Great King, and an Earl; and appeareth in the Form of a Lion, riding upon a Black Horse, and bearing a Viper in his hand. His Office is to discover Things Hidden, Witches, Wizards, and Things Present, Past, and to Come. He, at the command of the Exorcist will build Towers, overthrow Great Stone Walls, and make the Waters rough with Storms. He governeth 36 Legions of Spirits. And his Seal is this, which wear thou, as aforesaid, etc."
Lady Vinea is a sun goddess of battle, chaos, strength, storms, and war. She can also assist in matters of divination and scrying. She can help one with self-esteem and confidence, making you stronger in the face of your enemies. She could also be worked with as a protective deity.
It was no surprise to me that Vinea shares a lot of the same characteristics with Lady Sekhmet, an Egyptian sun goddess depicted with the head of a lioness. From my findings, she seems to be a spirit shard* of Sekhmet herself.
* In my UPG, a spirit shard is when an aspect or piece of a deity or spirit breaks off from its original fountainhead and becomes its own individual spirit or deity in their own right. They could be seen as a relative or creation/child of the original spirit/deity.

+: Queen Beleth :+
From The Ars Goetia: "The Thirteenth Spirit is called Beleth (or Bileth, or Bilet). He is a mighty King and terrible. He rideth on a pale horse with trumpets and other kinds of musical instruments playing before him. This Great King Beleth causeth all the love that may be, both of Men and of Women, until the Master Exorcist hath had his desire fulfilled. He is of the Order of Powers, and he governeth 85 Legions of Spirits. His Noble Seal is this, which is to be worn before thee at working."
Lady Beleth is a sun and moon goddess of music, love, desire, emotions, lust, and peace. Despite the Ars Goetia describing her as "terrible", she actually has a very calming nature. She can help you with emotional regulation and the understanding of both your own and others' emotional experiences, thus assisting in relationships of any kind. Beleth can also assist in creative matters, especially of music.
Beleth is a spirit shard of Lady Bastet, and is cousin to Lady Vinea. Much like Bastet, Lady Beleth is associated with domestic cats and appears as cat-headed, just like her fountainhead deity.

+: Duchess Bune :+
From the Ars Goetia: "The Twenty-sixth Spirit is Bune (or Bim). He is a Strong, Great and Mighty Duke. He appeareth in the form of a Dragon with three heads, one like a Dog, one like a Gryphon, and one like a Man. He speaketh with a high and comely Voice. He changeth the Place of the Dead, and causeth the Spirits which be under him to gather together upon your Sepulchres. He giveth Riches unto a Man, and maketh him Wise and Eloquent. He giveth true Answers unto Demands. And he governeth 30 Legions of Spirits. His Seal is this, unto the which he oweth Obedience. He hath another Seal (which is the first of these, but the last is the best)."
Lady Bune is a goddess of necromancy, wealth, enlightenment, hidden wisdom, death, and the shadows. She can help the living commune with the dead and vice versa, and can also help "lost souls" with moving on into the afterlife. She can also assist in matters of self-improvement, personal growth, learning from past mistakes, and changing for the better.
I believe Duchess Bune may be a somewhat distant relative of the Lernaean Hydra of Greco-Roman mythology. Both of their connections with water and the underworld seem to confirm this.

+: Duchess Crocell :+
From the Ars Goetia: "The Forty-ninth Spirit is Crocell, or Crokel. He appeareth in the Form of an Angel. He is a Duke Great and Strong, speaking something Mystically of Hidden Things. He teacheth the Art of Geometry and the Liberal Sciences. He, at the Command of the Exorcist, will produce Great Noises like the Rushings of many Waters, although there be none. He warmeth Waters, and discovereth Baths. He was of the Order of Potestates, or Powers, before his fall, as he declared unto the King Solomon. He governeth 48 Legions of Spirits. His Seal is this, the which wear thou as aforesaid."
Lady Crocell is a goddess of freshwater, healing, purity, life, and fertility. Being a goddess of purity, she can help one to cleanse any space of negative energies. She can also heal and cleanse someone by immersing them in the water of her astral springs.
I've found many similarities between Duchess Crocell and Lady Sulis, a Celtic goddess of the thermal spring of Bath. I believe Crocell is a creation/child of Sulis.

From the Ars Goetia: "The Fifty-sixth Spirit is Gremory, or Gamori. He is a Duke Strong and Powerful, and appeareth in the Form of a Beautiful Woman, with a Duchess’s Crown tied about her waist, and riding on a Great Camel. His Office is to tell of all Things Past, Present, and to Come; and of Treasures Hid, and what they lie in; and to procure the Love of Women both Young and Old. He governeth 26 Legions of Spirits, and his Seal is this, etc."
Lady Gremory is a goddess of love, passion, friendship, beauty, lust, desire, and feminine attributes. Not only can she help you form and/or mend relationships with others, but she can also assist in developing self-love and self-acceptance. She is especially fond and protective of women, including trans women and fiaspec people in general! The Infernal Divine does not discriminate. Xx
I think Duchess Gremory could be a relative of Lady Branwen, a Celtic goddess of love and beauty. They have similar correspondences and I can't help but feel like they may be kind of related in some way.

+: Duchess Vepar :+
From the Ars Goetia: "The Forty-second Spirit is Vepar, or Vephar. He is a Duke Great and Strong and appeareth like a Mermaid. His office is to govern the Waters, and to guide Ships laden with Arms, Armour, and Ammunition, etc., thereon. And at the request of the Exorcist he can cause the seas to be right stormy and to appear full of ships. Also he maketh men to die in Three Days by Putrefying Wounds or Sores, and causing Worms to breed in them. He governeth 29 Legions of Spirits, and his Seal is this, etc."
Lady Vepar is a goddess of the sea, protection, sickness, healing, medicine, storms, and marine life. Being a goddess of sickness, she can also help heal said illness and helps find cures for any ailments. She can assist in addressing traumas you've kept buried within the depths of your soul, so that you can emerge above the waters a better version of yourself.
Duchess Vepar may be associated with Lord/Lady Leviathan and Lady Tiamat, due to the correspondences with the ocean and seawater. I believe she may also have ties to the Kuliltu and Kulullu daemon races from Mesopotamian mythology, some of the many children of Mother Tiamat.

+: Duke/Duchess Astaroth :+
From the Ars Goetia: "The Twenty-ninth Spirit is Astaroth. He is a Mighty, Strong Duke, and appeareth in the Form of a hurtful Angel riding on an Infernal Beast like a Dragon, and carrying in his right hand a Viper. He giveth true answers of things Past, Present, and to Come, and can discover all Secrets. He will declare wittingly how the Spirits fell, if desired, and the reason of his own fall. He can make men wonderfully knowing in all Liberal Sciences. He ruleth 40 Legions of Spirits. His Seal is this, which wear thou as a Lamen before thee, or else he will not appear nor yet obey thee, etc."
Lord/Lady Astaroth is a god(dess) of love, sorcery, lust, passion, friendship, androgyny, and magic. Similar to Lucifer, they are an enlightenment and knowledge daemon. They also assist in building relationships with others, as well as self-love. Astaroth can help you strengthen and further develop your divination skills as well, making it easier to communicate with the spiritual realms in general.
In my UPG, Duke/Duchess Astaroth isn't the same as Astarte (Ashtoreth), but rather a spirit shard of her. This spirit shard was then further developed into a daemon by Lord Lucifer himself. These are just my personal beliefs though!
(Side Note: I believe that Duke/Duchess Astaroth goes by all pronouns, but personally I just use they/them/theirs pronouns most of the time to refer to Astaroth. Xx)

+: Marchioness Gamigin/Samigina :+
From the Ars Goetia: "The Fourth Spirit is Samigina, a Great Marquis. He appeareth in the form of a little Horse or Ass, and then into Human shape doth he change himself at the request of the Master. He speaketh with a hoarse voice. He ruleth over 30 Legions of Inferiors. He teaches all Liberal Sciences, and giveth account of Dead Souls that died in sin. And his Seal is this, which is to be worn before the Magician when he is Invocator, etc."
Lady Gamigin, also known as Lady Samigina, is a goddess of death, necromancy, dying, darkness, the afterlife, and the Underworld. She assists with spirits crossing over to the afterlife, and can also assist in communicating with the dead. Gamigin could also function as a grave-keeper type of spirit.
Marchioness Samigina may be related to the Gallo-Roman goddess, Lady Epona; a protector of equine animals, and a goddess of fertility. The "leader of the souls to the afterlife" correspondences seem to confirm the correlation between Gamigin and Epona.

He is a Great and Mighty Marquis, appearing at first in the Form of a Wolf (or Ox) having Gryphon’s Wings, and a Serpent’s Tail, and Vomiting Fire out of his mouth. But after a time, at the command of the Exorcist he putteth on the Shape of a Man. And he is a strong fighter. He was of the Order of Dominations. He governeth 30 Legions of Spirits. He told his Chief, who was Solomon, that after 1,200 years he had hopes to return unto the Seventh Throne. And his Seal is this, to be made and worn as a Lamen, etc."
Lady Marchosias is a goddess of war, battle, strength, chaos, and protection. She can help one to feel powerful and assist in taking back control in your life. She can help you feel motivated and confident. Marchosias can also assist with curse work and help you rise up above your enemies.
Marchioness Marchosias may have ties to Lord Fenrir from Norse mythology. I've noticed they both share the same chaotic energy. They only seem distantly related to one another though.

From the Ars Goetia: "The Thirty-Seventh Spirit is Phenex (or Pheynix). He is a great Marquis, and appeareth like the Bird Phoenix, having the Voice of a Child. He singeth many sweet notes before the Exorcist, which he must not regard, but by-and-by he must bid him put on Human Shape. Then he will speak marvellously of all wonderful Sciences if required. He is a Poet, good and excellent. And he will be willing to perform thy requests. He hath hopes also to return to the Seventh Throne after 1,200 years more, as he said unto Solomon. He governeth 20 Legions of Spirits. And his Seal is this, which wear thou, etc."
Lady Phenix is a sun goddess of transformation, rebirth, resurrection, creativity, passion, nature, and fire. She can help ignite the creative fires within one's soul so they can express their full artistic potential. She can also help one burn up negative traits so that you may emerge from the ashes a better version of yourself.
Marchioness Phenex can be considered either synonymous with or an aspect of the Greco-Roman Phoenix bird. I personally see Lady Phenex as being a daemonic aspect of the Phoenix.

+: President Amy/Avnas :+
From the Ars Goetia: "The Fifty-eighth Spirit is Amy, or Avnas. He is a Great President, and appeareth at first in the Form of a Flaming Fire; but after a while he putteth on the Shape of a Man. His office is to make one Wonderful Knowing in Astrology and all the Liberal Sciences. He giveth Good Familiars, and can bewray Treasure that is kept by Spirits. He governeth 36 Legions of Spirits, and his Seal is this, etc."
Lady Amy, also known as Lady Avnas, is a goddess of volcanoes, the wild, nature, strength, fire, wisdom, and protection. She can assist one in the studying of desired topics and subjects, but especially astrology and the zodiac. She can also shield one from negative energies, as well as help the individual to become stronger.
I can't help but feel like President Amy has associations with Lord Pan/Faunus... However Amy isn't as prominently sexual or lustful as Pan. They both seem to be deities of nature and the wild though.

+: President Haagenti :+
From the Ars Goetia: "The Forty-eighth Spirit is Haagenti. He is a President, appearing in the Form of a Mighty Bull with Gryphon’s Wings. This is at first, but after, at the Command of the Exorcist he putteth on Human Shape. His Office is to make Men wise, and to instruct them in divers things; also to Transmute all Metals into Gold; and to change Wine into Water, and Water into Wine. He governeth 33 Legions of Spirits, and his Seal is this, etc."
Lady Haagenti is a goddess of sorcery, transformation and transmutation, fertility, magic, creativity, and change. Like her masculine counterpart (President/King Zagan), she teaches spiritual alchemy and can assist one with attaining spiritual enlightenment in this way. She can also help with developing creative skill so one can excel in their desired creative fields.
Some have aligned President Haagenti with the previously mentioned Lady Bastet. Personally, I don't really see them as being linked in any way, nor could I find any good sources as to why people conflate them with one another. If anything, I feel like Lady Haagenti, along with President/King Zagan and Count/President Morax, evolved from the Minotaur in Greek mythology. I also believe Morax may be an aspect of the Minotaur, but that's for another post lol.

+: Prince(ss) Seere :+
From the Ars Goetia: "The Seventieth Spirit is Seere, Sear, or Seir. He is a Mighty Prince, and Powerful, under AMAYMON, King of the East. He appeareth in the Form of a Beautiful Man, riding upon a Winged Horse. His Office is to go and come; and to bring abundance of things to pass on a sudden, and to carry or recarry anything whither thou wouldest have it to go, or whence thou wouldest have it from. He can pass over the whole Earth in the twinkling of an Eye. He giveth a True relation of all sorts of Theft, and of Treasure hid, and of many other things. He is of an indifferent Good Nature, and is willing to do anything which the Exorcist desireth. He governeth 26 Legions of Spirits. And this his Seal is to be worn, etc."
Lord/Lady Seere is a god(dess) of the skies, astral travel, peace, clouds and rain, fertility, beauty, and androgyny. They can help one with astral travel as well as dream interpretation and walking the dreamscape. They can also help one attain insight about yourself and whatever is going on in your life. They can also help you attain an abundance of whatever it is that you seek.
Prince(ss) Seere and their steed may have ties to the Pegasus in Greek mythology, though I wasn't able to entirely confirm this.

He is a Great Prince and appeareth at first with a Leopard’s head and the Wings of a Gryphon, but after the command of the Master of the Exorcism he putteth on Human shape, and that very beautiful. He enflameth men with Women’s love, and Women with Men’s love; and causeth them also to show themselves naked if it be desired. He governeth 60 Legions of Spirits. His Seal is this, to be worn as a Lamen before thee, etc."
Lady Sitri is a goddess of love, passion, relationships, sex, fire, lust, and desire. She can help one with love spells and sex magic, as well as mending relationship conflicts. She can also infuse any creative project with passion, and help you overcome creative blocks.
I personally feel that Princess Sitri has ties to Lady Aphrodite/Venus, given the associations with love, desire, and sex. I also believe she's related to Duke Flauros/Haures in some way too. Sitri appears to me as a cheetah rather than a leopard, but that's just how I see her lol.

My most controversial opinion is that I hope Nettles is feminine. Like dresses and jewelry even before she is claiming dragons.
Why would this be controversial?
Two reasons.
Cultural Femininity and Demonization of Femininity.
1. Cultural Femininity:
If they take the time to give Nettles a distinctly cultural tie on the show, they also have the ability to make her present her femininity differently. In my preferred head canon with the Rhoynar, it's very different from what is allowed in Westeros. The placement of Driftmark as a trading center also allows her to pick up culturally distinctive feminity, think septum piercings, or showing your stomach. Those things are seen in Essos and Dorne not really in Westeros as a culture.
2. Demonizing.
Nettles is described as ugly in the books , so to then just make her dress and act differently from the royal woman does explain a lot of the hate and dislike her appearance and personhood. The whole Witch thing becomes layered if she isn't praying to the faith of the seven or dressing to fit the standard. She's never had to do it before. The idea impacts her relationships and how she would perceive things.
This unfortunately will muddy waters when it comes to people who don't like her character because we experience the show from a Westeros focused mindset, if people are ordering hits on the one distinct woman of colour and accusing her of witchcraft it reads clearer than it does in the book.
Lord knows this fandom does not need a reason to demonize a woman, far less for a woman of colour, I just think that it would be cool to see that because she's never had to conform to a societal expectation of piety or virtue she's picked what she liked and grew up to take and choose distinctive cultural things and made it her own.
Also, cultural femininity eats every time. Sarees, piercings, tribal tattoos, braids, materials, and jewelry outsell everything, every time.

I just wouldn't don't trust any writers after experiencing "you want a good girl, but you need a bad pussy" first hand from Tyene Sand of all people. So I don't think that even if they went this direction with this character, they would do it as good as they should do it.
I will say that GOT and HOTD so far have done a good job at not demonizing cultures before. I was personally rooting for Melisandre a bit too hard before Shireen.
But in exotizing certain cultures like Dorne, they tend to play into fetishization and Orientalism, similarly to the Dothraki, but that links back to the source material and again who we experience the world through.
I do think if they try, it would be a cool way to characterize her specifically because she's such an outsider to the world already, and it easily establishes that she isn't meant to conform to it. It also adds a layer to her descriptions if a lot of it would be things like a tattoo, or piercing or strange jewelry, and perfumes she's collected overtime.
I know a big thing with her character is that she's homeless without parents allegedly, but things like jewelry passed down to her, and odd jobs could explain the small disbelief people would have if they go that route.
I just deserve it as well. I've been a good person when it came to the Rhaena, Laena, and Baela erasure I've suffered through. I hope we can move on and make distinct choices.
I also will say that this happens in the context that we get biblically accurate Baela Targaryen. I refuse to suffer Masc and Hyper Feminine erasure again.

On the topic of oppositional sexism, y'all the witchcraft community is RIFE with it.
My partner and I are both trans masc magic users and it's very hard to find a place where we fit in. We have both been on testosterone for a few years and he has had top surgery so it's not like we aren't """ passing """. Still ended up getting misgendered by a (and I quote) "Divine feminine embodiment guidess, creatrix for the celestial sisterhood who runs women's retreats and red tents"
I can't imagine that this woman has good opinions on trans people if 'guide' and 'creator' are too masculine. Just feels like Wombyn all over again. Anytime I see "Divine Feminine" and "Divine Masculine" being used I move along because I know it's a short step from divine genders to transphobia. There's no issue with wanting to be more in touch with your femininity but you're going to have to realize that in the end it is the BALANCE of energies that is important. We use indica and sativa as descriptors instead, find whatever works for you.
When I first started looking into magic stuff there was the distinction that "witches were women, warlocks were men" and I feel like that hasn't changed that much in a grand scheme. I DO see other masc practitioners but we get pushed aside and seen as aggressive or "low vibes". Same with the "all women are born with magic" "we are the granddaughters of the witches you couldn't burn" rhetoric. I've seen Tumblr bios that were public fuck yous to all the men in the bible but devoted to Lilith (which seems to be common. People who don't do their research about basic gender definitely dont do their research on antisemitism and cultural appropriation). like ok, how am I supposed to feel about that as a man that you don't believe any man in the bible had significance it was all women? Sorry Jesus, should've been Josephina.
It just goes to show how much people ARENT doing shadow work. Okay so you've peeked behind the veil and saw that we are all stardust and dirt and nothing and everything is real and STILL want to seperate us by our genitals?? If masculinity is too scary for you then redefine what masculine is because THATS where the magic comes from. Not period blood or ovaries but our abilities as humans to shape our reality. Nonbinary people have BEEN holy in other societies and yet you just erase their entire existance. Good luck manifesting some human decency.
btw I will just block any haters comments I don't care. If you have something you want to debate about this post go say it to your #girlboss first I'm too busy corrupting the astral with my barren womb and hairy boobs.

Roadhog mermaid au stuff
This is gonna be sooo messy 😭🙌
Tw: death of parent, neglect, loneliness, hunting
Mermaid lore in general:
there’s different species of mermaids and certain ones have different social norms, like sharks don’t really have families or friends usually being loners. They usually meet once a year to eat all together as a cultural event but that’s it. Mermaids have two different names, a human name which they tell humans in the case of an emergency or to trick them, and a mermaid name that they use between mermaids. These names change throughout life with how they look and what they do. Some mermaids have multiple mermaid names. For example mercy’s mermaid name is sea witch or mercy. Usually the union (basically the government) choses the names but you can choose your own but it’s frowned upon
Mako’s mermaid name is roadhog because he chose his own and he chose human things because he likes the human things. He gets made fun of for it a lot
Roadhog is a shark. he’s very curious about the human world except humans
He despises humans and thinks they’re evil but everything else about the world he wants to learn about
His childhood was kind of rough because he didn’t have a dad and his mother wasn’t really there. When he was 14 his mom died and he still loved her so visits her grave sometimes:(
Roadhogs best friend is mercy or the sea witch. He helps him with his potions and hangs out with him and is kinda in love with him
Also both mercy and roadhog are canonically trans masc in my au!
Also roadhog is canon gay, polyamorous, and autistic
How he got his mask: one day a mask fell into the ocean and he found it and started to wear it. He eventually used clay to make it have pig features because pigs are his favorite animal and he wants to meet one really bad
He wants to hunt a mermaid and bring it back to prove it’s real which kinda includes killing one One day Jamie was hunting for mermaid and suddenly he sees one, he begins to attempt to shoot at it with his crossbow when suddenly his boat bumps a rock throwing him into the water. The mermaid he was attempting to hunt wasn’t actually a mermaid but a shark. He was about to get eaten when mako saw him and confusing him for another mermaid scared the shark away for him then helped him on the rock safely not realizing the boat near by was his. But after helping him up he realized he was a human and sorta gets scared away by that. Jamie eventually got back on his boat and returned home and told everyone he saw one but no one believed him. From then out he attempted to no longer hunt mermaids but try and find the one who saved him

Also before someone comments it, I know roadhog isn’t very in character he’s still a quiet shy and sometimes rude person just he’s got the curiosity and less rudeness because he didn’t go through the war

Setting details: it’s still in Gravesfield, CT which still has its same Puritan vs witches branding. The mascot is a pilgrim and that IS Gus in the suit. Who has more school spirit than Augustus Porter? (No one.) 
So a few changes I’m making to make the toh cast slot a bit easier into the framework 
Belos is a fundamentalist preacher who’s raising his “niece”. Yes he DID kill Caleb and Charlotte. No one knows tho. It was lords in black related. Does that make it better? eh
Hunter is trans masc and a TOTAL egg. Right now, he’s a very enthusiastic little warrior for purity culture. Yes, he’s trying to get the dance canceled, YES he’s bullied a lot for being a “nerdy prude”. Not gonna dead name him but. He wouldn’t realize he’s a guy until significantly after the events of this musical 
Luz has NOT been in amity’s class since the 1st grade. She only moved here a year ago
Amity is still the mayor’s daughter and she and Boscha used to date. Amity’s stopped actively bullying people after they broke up and she’s felt like, guilty about it, but she’s never seen how much more.. Physical? Boscha’s bullying got than hers did. Sure, Amity was a queen of psychological warfare, but she never beat people up in the parking lot. 
Luz moves to Gravesfield during her junior year of high school. Amity and Boscha on the cusp of breaking up, so things are changing in their social hierarchy. For one, Amity is backing away from bullying and the spotlight and for two Boscha is getting WORSE. She when Luz moves in and aligns herself with “half-a-woman Willow” and Steve Urkel.. She’s thrown to the bottom of the school hierarchy immediately. Looney Lulu is what comes to mind first. 
Enter Boscha: literal monster, best quarterback in the school’s history and the first girl (she works that angle as hard as she can), and QUEEN of the school. She’s amity’s ex and like… mainly over her. 
Okay, who are we kidding? She’s not over her. Not at all. Boscha decides to put all her “trying to make amity jealous and take me back” energy into seducing amity’s least favorite student: local nerdy prude, preacher’s “niece” wittebane. 
Hunter and amity do NOT get along. At all. They’re duking it out for the valedictorian spot, their respective guardians are pitting them against each other, and they both just find the other… insufferable. 
So trying to bag the “girl” who’s the forbidden fruit and maybe making amity mad enough to take her back with it too? It’s worth a try, at least. 
Amity, meanwhile, is failing theater. She’s getting very frustrated and flustered and asks luz to be her scene partner so maybe she doesn’t fall on her ass. Luz is nervous because this is Amity Blight, super cool girl who used to be very mean to willow and now isn’t really a bully but is just? Way cooler than they are? Amity’s able to talk her into it. 
The teacher heaps a LOT of praise onto them and their chemistry and promises them good grades in the future if they keep working with each other. This leads to amity calling luz and trying to set up the pasqualli’s date. 
Boscha, meanwhile, is cornering hunter near the gym where he’s protesting the concept of dancing. He gets freaked out when boscha starts getting very very flirty and he gets really flustered because? Girl? Girl flirt with me? Also a girl? Hahahaha NO I AM NOT GAY I AM NOT- and he’s having a little sexuality crisis. Willow, who’s done putting up with boscha’s shit right here in the school building, hurls a waterbottle across the room in between them. 
Hunter SPRINTS away because OH BOY I WAS EXPERIENCING SOMETHING STRANGE AND UNWELCOME NO THANK YOU NO THANK YOU- and then he finds out that newly buff and gaining more confidence willow is the one who saved him. And she’s just like oh yeah anytime. No one should corner other people like that. And his little heart is going bEEPBEEPBEEEP BEEEEEEEEEEPPP and the rest of his body is not calming down either, ya know? 
Unwanted sexual attractions experienced by local nerdy prude today: 2. Fantasies experienced in the bathtub: 2 very, very different ones in a single sequence. 
Luz gets the shit kicked out of her at pasqualli’s because she runs into boscha before she finds amity and she’s like no i’m not gonna cower AMITY BLIGHT INVITED ME HERE! And. that. DOES NOT GO WELL 
Willow is ready to go to war over this when they get to school the next morning because she WARNED luz that amity wasn’t to be trusted and look? Look what happened! And luz is like yeah you also said i should stand up for myself- and willow’s like husssshhh. 
They plan a prank in the bathroom that goes very poorly. Hunter writes gus a detention slip for being in the girls’ bathroom (he should have written himself one too!) and then they prank the shit out of Boscha. 
To the point she. You know. Dies. then they have to dismember her at hunter’s urging! Hooray!!!!
Cue peace and love at the high school :) until poor gus dies. I’m sorry dude! You’re the mascot you were cursed. Of course the quarterback was going after you first. 
Boscha goes after luz second because she’s the dweeb who thought that she could steal boscha’s girl. Luckily for luz and amity both, they were together at this point and they RUN as fast as they can. Luz demands they go find willow because she’s probably the next victim, and they find her mid-boscha kill. She lost an arm because boscha was trying to take the “half-a-” thing to its logical, puny extreme. They rush her off to the hospital. The police come to question them. 
And then pastor wittebane comes with hunter in tow. He pulls something with the police about the parks wanting him to perform a protestant equivalent of anointing of the sick on their ailing daughter. 
Pastor wittebane very clearly knows what happened. 
“I thought you were gonna keep the beans cool!” Amity demands. 
“I couldn’t,” hunter tells her. 
“Fucking useless, wittebane,” amity mutters. 
Pastor wittebane glares at all of them. “You are going to get in my car and come with me.” 
“That sounds bad,” luz says, “my mom told me to never be one on one with religious officials.” 
“Fine,” he says, “if you’d like to be the next victim, be my guest.” 
They all get in the car, except Willow, who’s bed-bound. (Luckily, since she’s already in the hospital, boscha thinks of her as less of a kill count priority.) 
Belos takes them out ot the middle of the woods and makes them dig up the black book. Then boscha kills him! We DO get boscha killing belos, so i think that’s a win. They flee the scene, run into some cops, then make it to the high school to complete the ritual. 
We’ve got amity, luz, and hunter on the floor of the gym summoning the evil teletubbies. The evil teletubbies REALLY want amity to kill luz. They get to have their cool as i think i am reprise <3 and then the bullet leaves the gun and boscha catches it. Because she is very, very excited to do luz in personally. She’s still debating whether or not she’s gonna end amity, but luz IS going to die. In front of amity. For absolutely certain. 
Boscha’s getting ready to take care of another nerdy prude when hunter bursts out like HELLO YES! I AM READY TO HAVE THE SEXUAL INTERCOURSE! And boscha’s just like… whut? And then he gets very flirty and goes along with the stuff that she was saying earlier, and he’s.. Legit into it. Sure, flirting with hunter was half to spite amity, but she’s still very turned on by the idea of corrupting the perfect angel church girl into having hot and heavy sex with her on the football field. And making amity watch? That’s a bonus. Maybe she’ll get a threesome out of it. 
Hunter sends boscha to hell with the power of his jesus freak virginity, luz and amity have sixteen different crises, and willow lives to hear the whole crazy tale. Luz and willow mourn gus, hunter goes through the weird process of mourning his uncle while also realizing he’s glad that the guy’s gone and gets to know the shoulder ANGEL part of the shoulder angel and shoulder devil fantasy he was experiencing, and amity hides the book away in her own personal safe to try to keep it away from bad actors. 
It doesn’t keep it safe from mayor odalia blight, but… that’s not going to be that big of a deal.. Right? RIGHT?!?!?!

It is interesting that gaymede uses she/her pronouns; particularly if the character is meant to be the mythological Ganymede, I think I’d have expected he/him. Plenty of mythological marvel characters don’t necessarily adhere to the “canon” pronouns of their inspiration, like multiple externals and loki, but I feel like most of those are unique cases
It would be cool to get a character that radically subverts pronoun expectations (ie a woman using he/him or man using she/her outside of drag/magical transformation contexts etc) but I’m not getting my hopes up. I still feel like it was a big deal that x-23 deadly regenesis has a very masc (sympathetic) villain character exclusively using they/them
I don't know if I missed this detail, or if I just forgot, but, yeah, the preview for SW#6 uses she/her pronouns for Ganymede.
It's not unusual to depict gods and deities as having fluid genders, especially in settings where they might reincarnate or take on multiple forms. Ganymede isn't really a god, but you could consider him a deified mortal. In modern times, he has become an icon of gay desire and male beauty, and is sometimes framed as a patron of the gay community, but his origins and the development of his mythology are more complicated than that.
Ganymede's tale is widely considered to be a model for paiderastia, which is a very difficult subject, so I don't want to get into it here. The point is that this character has been used to reflect changing cultural viewpoints on homosexuality, specifically relationships between men, across the ages. You will find instances where his name and story are used in both empowering ways, and derogatory ways. It's worth noting, too, that the story itself is one of abduction, and in some tellings, sexual assault. I think it's important, when we revisit these myths, to do right the by the historically marginalized people whose abuse is being mythologized. I feel the same way, for instance, about how women are treated in retellings of, say, Persephone and Hades.
That's a very long-winded way of saying that any adaptation of the Ganymede myth should remember that this story is centered around the experiences and, in some cases, victimization, of young men in homosexual relationships, so the character should probably remain grounded in that identity. Obviously, I am very much open to representing gender expansiveness and non-conformity within the gay male community. Gender-fluidity is not a part of Ganymede's myth, but it is a vital element of gay life, and always has been. As a reminder, I, myself, identify as a genderfluid MLM who uses she/her pronouns, and just to drive the point home, here's a recent picture of me, next to a picture of Scarlet Witch's Ganymede.

I think you can see the similarities, right? The character can look like this, and use she/her pronouns, and still be representative of the identity and experience that are essential to the Ganymede myth-- but it's definitely a big swing, and it's not what I would expect for a single-issue character. This might not even be the mythological character, but I do think it would be weird to use mythological names for an original character when the literal Greek gods are real people who exist in your universe. It does happen, but not that often, and not usually in books where those gods have already been featured.

Thinkin about gender and spirituality
Preface: I don't have a real point to this. I just remembered you can basically post anything to tumblr.
My ex-mother in law said something to me the first time we met. "I've never understood queer relationships. You need the masculine and the feminine to balance eachother out... But I suppose that's why gays tend to have one masculine partner and one feminine partner."
This woman was a huge name in the druidic community of the UK. She is polyamorous. She told me that she remembered past lives and regularly saw the dead, animal and human. But she couldn't wrap her head around the idea of something outside of heteronormativity.
And she wasn't the only one in my life like that. I was basically raised a little heathen but I still grew up white in the US. Christian overtones policed my thinking and the thinking of those who influenced me. Most of my non-male partners have been feminine in their gender expression, and in turn I acted more and more masculine. I tried to fit a role based on expectations rather then what I (or even my partners) wanted.
Now I'm with someone I expect will be for life. They are 'masc' in that they are Butch. Not divorced from their womanhood even if they do not embrace that part of themselves the way someone who really enjoyed more 'typical' femininity would. Meanwhile I just bought two skirts for the first time since middleschool and I'm becoming even more comfortable with the term 'agender'.
I'm still a spiritual person, more now then when I knew and had access to people with connections in the 'neo pagan' movements. And yet every fucking time I see people talking about spirituality I still see people stumble over the ideas of the 'masculine' and the 'feminine' in nature.
My ex-MIL also said once that I should be careful not to anthropomorphize things. That my experience with a specific tree feeling safe when I was a child in need was probably just me projecting.
On this one thing, I actually agree with her. We project a lot of bullshit onto the natural world. And onto ourselves. Especially in the spiritual community. What is masculine about the sun? What is feminine about the moon? Nothing. They are objects in space with mass and gravity. Why would that make them any less magical? They still have a huge impact on our lives. The sun's impact is generally more overt. The moon's is more subtle. We can talk about these things in how they relate to us, I don't think that's unreasonable. You can't experience the world except from your own perceptions. The sun is hot and brings life but also can cause damage and death. The moon and night is cold but gives us the tides which effects us just as much but usually in ways we either live far from or don't directly think about/see.
The problem really comes in, I think, from how we don't just say 'the sun is masculine and the moon is feminine' it's how that inevitably leads us to imposing that duality onto people. People pose anthropomorphized ideas onto things that are not human and in turn try to use it as a mirror or a measuring stick to hold up against themselves or other humans. And not all cultures even believed these things or have lines drawn this strongly, I know. But I can only talk from the experience I've lived. The presence of strict ideals that specifically Christian-fascism (current and historic) have given us are so pervasive in people like me that they go completely unquestioned. Every book I read, including my ex-MIL's did nothing to question it, and in many cases actively reinforced it.
It's really no wonder that there is a fast and ugly pipeline of 'witch' to 'right-wing' if the people who position themselves as outside the mainstream culture are still just recreating it in the spaces they make.

So I thought it was about time I made one of these.
For starters, I'm bigender (agender + maverique) and this affects my practice in a major way. I know we're all sick of binary gendered magic and correspondences, but I approach this in a way that honors both my gender and lackthereof. The way I see it, either all gendered energies are divine, or none of them are. I choose to believe all gendered energies have divine equivalents, and that the divine masc and fem are not inherently better or more real than divine nonbinary energies. Hell, this blog is even named after the divine maverine (the maverique gender quality equivalent to masc and fem)
I do wanna try and post more of my practice, so we'll see how that goes.

I am not a witch, as the term gives me gender dysphoria. Practitioner/mage/magician are the terms I use instead

Heads up for those who are actually gonna read this: I write the way I talk and how my thoughts come to me so this is mostly a ramble sorry in advance- okay so i just had a brainthought and I wanna know if it makes sense
so in one of my favorite fanfictions like, ever, 'Lily's Boy' by SomewheresSword on AO3 (is it the letter O or the number 0?) there's several convos on how pureblood ideology works and what is causing it to be that way and i also keep seeing posts of older, one could say vintage, queers (that was a reference directed specifically at my mum pls don't take it personal-) complaining ig about baby gays not really understanding their history (tbh i kinda fall under that but I'm learning slowly so that's cool) and therefore like,,, making assumptions ig? and taking certain things to extremes? like, in the fanfic most of the problems purebloods have with muggleborns/kids born to non-magical folks (muggle sounds kinda rude to me-) is fears that
a. their continued existence might breach the statue of secrecy and then we get witch trials all over again and
2. if too much of non-mag culture leaks in what will become of the old traditions? like, how yule and samhain aren't really like, celebrated at hogwarts? it's just cristmas and Halloween? and what about the solstices? and I think somewhere it said that the old holidays were banned but that could've been another fic bc I read a LOT (it's kinda a problem actually-) but my point IS, there are also non-mag things that would make sense to have, like lined paper and like, PENS and PENCILS because quills are annoying and does anyone like, teach the kids coming from non-magical households that kinda stuff? like, how the government works or how house elves work (I have mixed feelings about both of these but that's for another ramble) and it kinda seems like that's stuff they SHOULD KNOW??? anyways, what I'm getting at here is that the same sort of problem seems to be happening here too?
as younger generations are dealing with being queer/lgbtqia+ they are also dealing with the prejudices that come with it in a world that kinda accepts them, but also one that does it in a kinda performative way, specifically with companies?
and to me, it seems like a lot of assumptions are being made by the younger generations, but also I personally don't understand all of the problems that older generations are seeing, and i'd like to. tl;dr: I am confused about generational differences and issues therein and if someone with a higher brain capacity could please explain what the baby gays are doing wrong I would greatly appreciate it thank you goodtimezone

Mrs. Brown looks quite horrified. Her teenage daughter Sarah, who has been standing off to one side glaring at the books, suddenly perks up.
“Have you heard the term “joyfriend”?” Sarah asks Aziraphale, looking at him with a new kind of respect. “I’ve heard it used mostly for masc-leaning people, but maybe she might like it too.”
“I have not,” Aziraphale replies, smiling at this new and exciting bit of language. “I will have to ask her about it. She just calls me her angel.”
Mrs. Brown has gone through every stage of grief and is now on acceptance, though it is a numb, resigned acceptance. “Well... you and... and Miss Crowley are welcome to come,” she says stiffly.
“Can I read that?” Sarah asks suddenly, pointing to a book she had been glaring at. It was a simplified English translation of the Torah, for early learning. It had been donated, actually, several years ago, and Aziraphale has never even once thought of anyone even touching it, because it is so precious and he has placed a subtle miracle so others can’t see it.
The miracle is only a little one. Anathema had seen right through it, too...
Aziraphale smiles at Sarah again. “Of course. Just don’t take it outside of the shop, please. And don’t smudge it. Or hurt the pages.”
Sarah rolls her eyes, a ghost of a smile on her own face. “I’ll be careful, Mr. Fell.”
“I would be honored to come to your celebration, Mrs. Brown,” Aziraphale says, turning to the mother when he’s sure Sarah will be careful. “I’ll have to ask Crowley if she can be torn away from her garden for an afternoon. Thank you.”
“You’re welcome,” Mrs. Brown replies, then turns to Sarah, who is already fascinated. Mrs. Brown huffs in annoyance. “Sarah, dear, I’m going to the shops. I’ll come back soon.”
“Okay, mum,” Sarah replies distractedly, turning to lean her back on the table as she peruses the book. “Mum, why is the Jewish story of Adam and Eve so different from Christianity?”
“I’m sure I don’t know. Be good.” And Mrs. Brown sweeps out of the shop.
Sarah looks up immediately at Aziraphale, who is watching her thoughtfully. “Do you know the difference?” she asks.
Aziraphale smiles, a little sadly. “Yes. I do. But also, I have a question in return. How long have you been studying witchcraft? I won’t tell,” he hastens to add, as Sarah pales and her eyes widen. “It is just interesting. I haven’t met many young witches lately.”
“Oh... m-my friends and I, we... we kind of started a coven,” Sarah stammers, nervously, but also defensive. She raises her chin as she adds, “They haven’t gotten results, but I have.”
Aziraphale nods. “That’s what I thought. You have natural talent, my dear. And an open mind often helps the magic along.” He gestures to the book in her hands. “I’ll tell you what; I have some old grimoires I picked up for a song a few years ago. You can come read them, and practice here, but in return you must explain all the new language. Like joyfriend and genderqueer and all those lovely slang words.”
Sarah’s face slowly fills with delight, and she replies, “Absolutely, Mr. Fell. Can I bring my friends? Jenny’s nonbinary, bun knows a lot more than I do about trans words and culture.”
“Yes! The more, the merrier! Just... none of you can buy the books.”
Sarah laughs. “We won’t, Mr. Fell. We’re all broke, anyway. Will you really let me practice witchcraft here?”
“Absolutely, and I’ll ask my friend Anathema to come in and give you tips.” Anathema would curse him for calling her a friend, but an apprentice might smooth the waters. “Now, what do you want to know first?”
Sarah spins away from the table and approaches him, pointing to a line in the book in her hand. “There’s no mention of Lilith. Does she come in later?”
“Lilith is not a figure in Judaism. But she is not completely made up. You see, the thing is, the angels were actually God’s practice attempts; humans were supposed to be Her final edition...”
Sarah stays all afternoon, and when Crowley comes to visit, she gets involved in the discussion, too. And when Mrs. Brown comes in to take Sarah home, Aziraphale says she is welcome any time in the afternoon, and Crowley accepts Mrs. Brown’s invitation after an off-handed question asking where the celebration will be held.
“So,” Crowley says when the Browns have left. “You have a little witchy scholar friend now.”
Aziraphale play-scowls. “I did nothing but answer her questions,” he answers archly. “But tell me, how do you feel about the term ‘joyfriend’?”

Yep! So the Masculine Magic styles aren’t exactly comparable to the feminine styles/transformations. They’re closer to the witch practices than fairy but Masc magics depend primarily on how they channel magic rather than what they specialize in but there are some commonalities. They can also mix and match styles as they need (also i didn’t want to draw a whole new figure so i just genderswapped my winxsona lmao)

So much like fairies and witches the first three stages of a masc magic user are basic building blocks, slowly increasing the mage’s power. Masculine magic styles are very loose with the “uniform” aspect, most of them just wear whatever they want, but one of the common aspects is a sash. first three stages are white, gray, and black sashes, and once the mage chooses their specialty or just gains a little more confidence they usually have a sash that matches their core color. It’s also common for masc magic users to dress a little more traditionally(according to whatever their culture is) once they reach the black sash stage but it’s not necessary. (my winxsona is from Koyu so traditional koyu clothing will be featured here)

Wizards are characterized by absorbing magic from where-ever, and storing it/channeling it through a signature item (examples: wizards of the black circle, tritanus originally, Acheron partially) often their attack magic isn’t as strong because they often have a weapon for their signature item and rely on that to deal damage. they are also known to have a decent grasp of elemental magic as they deal a lot with physical substances. One of the most common styles.
Sorcerers are characetrized by absorbing magical energy from where-ever and storing it within their own body. which this gives them certain advantages, like always having their magic supply within reach and being able to pour magic out in incredibly powerful and direct bursts, it can sometimes overload the magic user and leave them drained. Sorcerers often deal a fair amount with consciousness, in themselves and others, as their magic is grounded in their own body. One of the most common styles.
Alchemists are a very rare style to pursue, they absorbs their magic from potential energy in minerals/chemicals, and from the magic expelled from chemical reactions. they are expert potion makers and can pursue healing, building, destructive, or research careers. due to the unstable nature of some of their elements, the danger is relatively high, though your mostly at risk if you don’t take proper precautions. they usually wear thick clothing and gloves/boots, and when seriously working with have a physical mask but if working in the moment will generate a mask with magic. they also carry a kit personalized to their element preferences with them.

Shamans are weird. They absorb their magical energy from their surroundings, and then channel it back through their environment (think earth or plant bending by those swamp ppl from that one episode). This route is primarily pursued by hermit types who live on their own in one specific place, but can also be used in semi developed villages as well. They have a decent grasp on the elements and natural/wild magic, but because of their intense connection to their environment they can run into problems. If a shaman is confronted on their own turf, they can seem to double their core magic output, and gain additional attack and defense capabilities (that magic bar should also be a little higher sry) but if away from their territory, they loose half their core for a while and loose some attack and defense. because of these limitations, and because of the inherit danger that comes with living in the wilderness the danger is a little high. Shamans usually dress to blend into their environment. They’re fairy rare.
Necromancer are also weird. Necromancers absorb their magic from death/decay and store it in their tattoos.(example: my nex get oc Aidan) Basically what happens is they take the potential magical energy from a thing before or as its being released, either causing it to die/decay or benefiting from it. Fungi are popular among Necromancers as they are a living embodiment of decay. Necromancers often lean towards Unconscious and time related magics but its not always the case. The tattoos also function as “dead material” being scar tissue and magically conductive ink. Some tattoos are specific runes that activate at a trigger word or action to do specific things (like a protection spell that is activated by physical force) but most are just personal symbols/imagery relating to the individual or their culture. Necromancers can go down a dark route pretty easily and using magic related to death often has side effects which is why the danger is fairly high. Though it’s not technically necessary, its traditional that Necromancers don’t wear sleeves, some prefer to go entirely shirtless but vests are also common.
Magicians are popular with the younger generation who tend to combine sorcery, wizardry, and necromancy as they like(example: Nabu). Their stats can vary wildly, and they often counteract the weakness of the other styles by mixing in the strengths of others. This requires a fairly flexible working style, as practitioners need to switch from absorbing into their body/tattoos to channeling out of their body/tattoo/signature item as the situation evolves. Magicians can tire out easy if they don’t keep up constant practice and meditation.
