Design notes:
oooooh my god I'm so happy I finally got to draw the super tall monster high heels on someone!! Vil was by far, the character I had the most references saved for. I gotta say, the main inspiration to me was actually Vil's overblot form, probably my favorite design in game, mixing a bit of the religious references it had, I thought of a fallen angel for his scare-itage! I almost went with vampire, inspired on Elissabat's character, but I want to avoid as much as possible repeating the types of creatures the twst cast will be in this AU, and the vampire idea is reserved for a very obvious someone else from diasomnia!
The cons of having too many visual references and inspirations is that it's so difficult to choose only one outfit for the final version. I searched a lot of inspiration in drag, and the ones that clicked with my idea the most were some stuff Pabllo Vittar and Gottmik wore (I'm obssessed with them, you have no idea), if you squint you can see I loosely based Vil's makeup look on Gottmik's lol
There's also the two different patterns I made for Vil's dress. Neither of them were what I originally had in mind, turns out stained glass art is pretty difficult to replicate, but for now I judge these two look decent enough? I struggled to choose only one of them to put on the official character sheet, and I just went with the one on the right because it took longer for me to draw it 😭 you can consider both of them "canon" I guess? I don't think I have a preference between the two
Lore-wise I don't have any really relevant or detailed notes. Vil's personality and backstory pretty much remains the same, I think it fits in this universe as well. I could add to the story that the real reason he doesn't use his wings is because angels lose parts of their supernatural powers once they are cast out of heaven, but Vil prefers not to admit it. Also I think it would be fun if their actual angel form was one of those otherworldly cool burning wheels while this one is baisically just a cloak, for practicality, you know?
bonus doodle because I was in a good mood when I drew this:

SUPTOBER 02 - pumpkin patch
4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

of all the characters that have (or can!) be controlled by morpho in your AU, who would you say is the most powerful (you can't say Morpho Knight himself, that's cheating)
"you can't say morpho knight/galacta knight" not a problem because i wasn't gonna. greatest warrior in the galaxy still gets his ass handed to him by someone on the regular
dreamless reaper.
this would be like... a profoundly bad end of the chrysalis au. i think morpho would probably only be able to get kirby if it had burned through all the others, and i just don't think there'd be a coming back from this one tbh
you can also see that unlike with morpho dee this one is way less fragile; proper pauldrons and shoes, wings aren't full of holes. morpho dee was purposefully expendable because taking bandee was never the actual goal

One of my pet SMRPG headcanons:
The first time Peach uses Come Back to revive Geno, he is absolutely floored. How is she tapping into star magic? Especially when the Star Road is broken? And how is she doing it this expertly? He can't even use it this way.
Plus, to him specifically, it feels so much better than a Pick-Me-Up. When the doll's senses are knocked into next week, the star inside is still perfectly conscious, just kind of stuck in a void. This means he's also fully aware at the moment of revival, which - via a Pick-Me-Up - feels every bit as disorienting as when he first possessed the doll, plus he's not in control of the timing. Every single time. He deals with it.
But this? This is transcendent. Even in the blank darkness he's stuck in, he can see the star come down. It gently tells him it's time to come back, and politely leads the way there. There's never time for a conversation, but often, he knows its name.
During their adventure to restore the Star Road, Geno probably doesn't tell the rest of party this. After all, the result is functionally the same, and he doesn't want them to use resources non-ideally just so he can be a little more comfortable. But every time a star deposits him back onto the battlefield in Peach's arms, he thanks every celestial authority he can name for the opportunity to know a person like this - and marvels a little more at just how much of her potential she has yet to discover.
(PS: I've been wanting to delve into lineless art, and found a workflow in Clip Studio I love for it! Maybe this will help me get a little faster...)
