Part2 , Part 3
“Where do you think you're going?!”
Sakura's voice snapped, glaring at another of what she called "difficult patients." The man didn't seem fazed by the medic-nin's irritation, instead, he was finishing putting on his second sandal. He had been here far too long for his taste. Four days, sure, but it was already four days too long.
“Home.”
She clenched her jaw. Hell no! He'd just had surgery a few days ago, there's no way he's leaving now.
“No.”
“What do you mean 'no'?”
“You can't leave, Itachi. I didn't give you permission to do so. You're coming out of a pretty heavy operation. You need to rest.”
Itachi narrowed his eyes, a wave of displeasure washing over him.
“I'm fine. And I have some business that can't wait.”
“If you mean missions, I've cancelled them.”
“You what?”
If he was displeased at first, now he was downright annoyed. He didn't understand the point of occupying a bed he no longer needed. He was feeling better, so as far as he's concerned, he could leave.
“You heard me.” She crossed her arms over her chest. “Don't give me that look.”
Itachi closed his eyes, pinched the bridge of his nose and took a deep breath.
“Sakura, you had no right to do that. It's not your decision to make. I appreciate your concern, but it is not necessary. It's up to me to say whether or not I can handle a mission.”
“Like hell I can't! I'm the one who had to fix the damage done to your body, so I assure you that I'm in a very good position to make that kind of decision. Besides, Shishou agrees with me.”
“You have already discussed this with Hokage-sama?”
She shrugged as Itachi took a step forward, heading for the door. Too bad for him, Sakura blocked his way.
“What do you think you're doing!?”
“I'll go talk to the Hokage. Now step aside.”
“She won't agree with you on this, Itachi. She trusts my judgment and if I tell her you need to be taken off the mission roster, you will be.”
“What right do you have—”
She cut him off ;
“In my capacity as a doctor. I outrank you in the chain of command when we are within these walls. Deal with it.”
Sakura probably had a secret death wish, how else could she explain addressing one of the most feared ninjas in the village like that? Fuck, feared even in several nations! But she couldn't let him leave the hospital. He had almost not made it. Of course, she had managed to save him, but, the amount of poison found in his chakra system was nothing to sneeze at. She could see that he was irritated. She knew him well by now and normally she wouldn't have been so insolent with him, but, as she had said, she was the boss in this hospital. En plus, his father would be sure to ostracize her if anything happened to his precious and talented older son.
“This is ridiculous.”
Stubborn as he is, Itachi wasn't going to let it happen. That's why he was determined to go and discuss it with the Hokage. He respected orders, Itachi submitted to Tsunade Senju's authority because it was his duty as a Loyal Shinobi of Konoha, but that wasn't going to stop him from using his persuasive skills on the woman. He had done it before, and he's still alive to talk about it, isn't he? He had dodged the cup of Sake she had once thrown at him, he could very well do the same with her stapler. His decision made, Itachi headed for the door once again.
“Ita—”
“For God's sake, stop it! You are really annoying me.”
The words had come out of his mouth without him realizing it. He was exasperated and the days spent in that hospital bed plus the rest were getting on his nerves.
Sakura gasped, forgetting even what she was going to say, caught off guard by his outburst. A long silence ensued.
Those words again...
Always these words.
It stung.
It hurt. A lot.
She felt the familiar sting of tears at the corners of her eyes. An ironic smile tugged at her lips. Apparently, it ran in the family. She remembered all those times when she was younger, Sasuke had said those same words to her. It had always hurt her a little, but this was worse. Because Itachi was not unaware of how Sakura had been treated by his little brother. He even intervened once. Of course, as Sasuke had grown up, he had eventually apologized, in his own weird way, sure, but he had apologized. She had forgiven him. Because that's what she does : She forgives. She had her heart on her sleeve.
It doesn't mean that she forgets, but she cares about Sasuke and that time was already long gone. She knew why Sasuke had been so hard on her, he had explained the reasons, the pressure he felt to live up to his father's expectations, the pressure he put on himself to be as good as his brother. He had simply vented his frustration where he could. It wasn't fair, but she was the one who took the brunt of it. And she understood, really. But Itachi, what was his excuse? She’d talked to him about it. They had talked about it in private. She had told him about that part of her life, as silly as it might seem to others to feel hurt by mere words, but he had understood. He had even apologized for his brother's attitude and assured her that she was far from annoying or weak.
She thought he, more than anyone else, understood the weight of those particular words. Apparently, they were just empty words. She should have known better. Never trust what a man says when he's lost in pleasure and between your legs. Serves her right.
Foolish little girl.
The silence stretched, but Sakura refused to show even a hint of weakness. She would not cry. She took a breath and grabbed the clipboard on the small table and scribbled down some instructions and a prescription and then signed the discharge form, which stated that he was being discharged against medical advice. She then handed him the paper with a blank look.
“As you wish then, Uchiha-san.”
Itachi's eyes widened slightly, surprised to hear his last name, by the change in her demeanor. And he knew. He just knew. He had fucked up.
"Sakur-" he tried to reach out to her, but she shied away, cutting him off with that cold, professional tone. So impersonal compared to earlier.
“Please, leave. I still have patients to attend to. I wish you a speedy recovery.”
He sighed. He knew better than to insist. This was not the right time. He took his discharge and walked to the door. He paused, his hand on the doorknob.
“I'll see you later.” He said softly and it almost sounded like a question.
The only thing Itachi could see was her back. There was no indication that she had heard him, and if she had, she didn't acknowledge him.
When the door finally shut and she no longer felt the ANBU captain's chakra nearby, she let a choked sob echo through the empty room.
Maybe it was true what they say: words hurt more than blows. And the Uchihas really knew how to hurt her.
In an AU where their lives weren't brutalized Itachi would protect Sasuke from their father's wrath, make excuses for him, help him sneak out of the house at night to go out with his friends, while also being strict in his own way. Sasuke would only have to make a tiny pouty face to melt Itachi, and he'd give in right away.
Though Sasuke isn't going to take advantage of anything Itachi does and would be very much understanding.
In non-massacre AU, Sasuke and Sakura would get caught making out ALL the time.
Like no one in their house knocks before entering a room so they’ll be in his room, door closed (which is one of Mikoto and Fugaku’s no no’s) and people just barge in.
Itachi: Ugh, can’t you guys get a room?
Sasuke, eye-twitching: This IS MY ROOM?!
Sakura, buttoning her shirt bright red in the face: We were just-
Sasuke and Sakura have been dancing around their feelings for years. Both too afraid to mess up their team dynamic and ruin the friendship they share. However, now that everyone seems to be pursuing their own paths, Sakura is working on opening the first children’s therapy clinic, Sasuke is has started working for the police force, and Naruto is working under Kakashi to become the next Hokage; Sasuke things it’s time to finally ask her out.
However he’s not sure how his family will react. Uchiha’s hardly dated outsiders, wanting to keep the Sharingan within the clan. But the Hyuga, which were more strict than the Uchiha, allowed Hinata to marry Naruto, so Sasuke hoped it was a sign of times changing.
Plus his family, especially his mother, loved Sakura so they should have no issue accepting her…right?
Itachi was off on a mission, so this morning only Sasuke and his parents were having breakfast together.
“You better keep in touch with Naruto and Sakura-chan!” his mother tells him. “You three have been working together for six years.”
“I don’t think Naruto would let me forget about him even if I tried,” Sasuke grumbles as he eats. “It’s only been a day and he already wants us to have weekly meetups at Ichiraku. And besides I —” he pauses, ears turning red as he feels his face grow warm.
“You?” His mother presses him to continue. Even his father is looking at him now.
“…Am going to ask Sakura out, after her shift at the hospital,” he quietly confessed.
Mikoto clasps her hand together in excitement. “That’s wonderful news!” She smiles widely. “I’ve been waiting for one of you to take the first step. Isn’t this great, dear?” She turns to her husband.
“Hn,” Fugaku grunts and returns to his morning paper. A beat of silence passes, before he goes on. “She’s a great girl. Be sure you make her happy.”
The ninja clans of Konoha tend to be a little bit possessive over their soulmates, especially if a soulmate is born outside of the clan. It was to the point where each child was tested at birth to see if they were bound to one of the clans.
Kizashi thought Konoha's clans were absurd.
Mebuki had outright said they were vexingly unhinged.
Some would probably call it karma when the nurse came back with their daughter and informed them that the Clan Ladies were on their way.
Sasuke had been fussy all morning and Mikoto could not figure out why. Sasuke had been changed, fed, and spent time with Itachi. Nothing around them was out of the ordinary either, Mikoto had checked twice. Yet Sasuke still fussed, crawling towards the door. Mikoto was beginning to suspect Sasuke himself didn't know what was wrong.
"Sasu-chan, how can I help you," Mikoto cooed.
Sasuke's whimpers stopped. His gaze directed at the window.
Mikoto turned to see a swallow with a red ribbon tied around it's leg. "Well Sasu-chan we're going to have to make a trip to the hospital. We have to go visit a baby girl."
As they got closer to the hosital Mikoto noticed that Sasuke became less and less fussy. Maybe he just wanted outside?
Mikoto let her thoughts wander. It's been a long time since a soulmate to the Uchiha was born. The last one had had been born when Mikoto was still learning her duties as the Clan Lady, and she along with the Uchiha many suspected to be her soulmate died during the war.
At the hospital one of the nurses led Mikoto to the baby and her parents. None of the other Clan Ladies were there, the hospital knew better. The clans are protective and admittedly possessive of their soulmates born outside of the clans. Each Lady would be brought in separately until the soul mark reveled itself. Mikoto had no idea who cane before her or if anyone is going to come after.
"Haruno-sans, Lady Uchiha is here," the nurse announced as Mikoto stepped into the room.
The new mother, a blonde woman with bright green eyes, held her daughter closer. A man with shockingly pink hair, rests his hand on the baby's back.
Ah, that must be where the mark is.
Mikoto looks at the parents again and blinks. She knows them. Kizashi and Mebuki. They were friends before the war. They lost contact after when they joined the wave of other ninja who retired early or went into the reseves. Mikoto remembers Mebuki explaining that she and Kizashi didnt want their future children to grow up without them and that's alway a risk when a ninja has children.
Mikoto is brought out of her thoughts when Sasuke starts fussing again in her arms until he has himself facing foward. His eyes focused on the bundel of blankets in the Mebuki's arms.
"Look honey, Sakura has her first play date already," Kizashi joked.
Mikoto stepped closer to see the baby. Sakura was a fitting name for her. Pink was the most accurate word Mikoto could think of to describe the baby.
Sasuke stared at the baby girl.
Mikoto sat in a chair placed on the opposite side of the bed. "It's been a long time Mebuki."
Mebuki nodded, dark bags under eyes. Poor thing looked exhausted. Mikoto wonders how long it's been since she gave birth. The soul mark test is done almost immediately and then the hosptial scrambles to call in the Clan Ladies.
"I suppose it's your turn to test Sakura?" Mebuki sighed.
Mikoto nodded. "Yes if you don't mind pulling the blankets down I can add a little bit of chakra to the mark."
Mebuki pulled down the blanket just enough to where Mikoto can rest her hand. Kizashi offers to take Sasuke.
"Thank you," Mikoto said as she handed her son to the pink haired man. Sasuke's eyes never left Sakura.
"So Sasuke are you here to see your future wife?" Kizashi laughed.
Mebuki shot her husband a look, before turning back to her firend. "What will happen to Sakura? There's been a few before you but none of them tell us what happens to our daughter."
"I can't say for all clans but with the Uchiha Sakura is still your daughter and you'll still raise her. We'll keep an eye out for her, after all she'll be ours too. Sakura will join the Academy when she's old enough. If there is an Uchiha in her class they will start to train her in the ways of our clan, or when she makes genin we will assign an Uchiha to be her instructor. During her time as a genin we will teach the clan jutsu. When she reaches 18 and the names are revealed whether romantic or platonic, she will have the same rights in the clan as someone who is born in it."
Mikoto removed her hand to reveal the Uchiha fan. "Welcome to the clan Sakura."
Mebuki let out a sigh of relief and rebundled Sakura back into the blanket. Sasuke started to fuss again. Before Mikoto could offer to take him back Mebuki adjusted Sakura to one arm and Kizashi placed Sasuke in the other. This put Sakura directly in Sasuke's line of vision.
In the gentlest way Mikoto had ever seen of her son, Sasuke clumsily pressed his fingers against Sakura's forehead.
Just as Mikoto had promised the clan had kept a distant watch over Sakura. It has been after all many years since the clan had a soulmate born outside of it. Many of them don't want to fail this one too. Their best informant being little Sasuke, who was always in a better mood after being near Sakura's presence.
When Mikoto would see the girl around the village she would stare at the Haruno circle on her back. Always placed so the Uchiha fan that marked Sakura's skin was directly inside of it. Mikoto wondered if Mebuki did that on purpose.
Mikoto would also wonder sometimes if Kizashi's teasing all those years ago held any truth. After all Mikoto thinks Sakura would be a wonderful daughter in-law.
It's a Naruto fic. Non massacre, in which sakura is taught by shisui and he teaches her body flicker( it was abt channeling chakra instead of doing the seals?) And her inner sakura is more prominent? please help🥲
I really enjoy Non-Massacre Sasusaku Fics because I love seeing Sasuke’s family picking on him and loving Sakura.
Itachi loving how sweet Sakura is on his brother, and the little smiles Sasuke gives her. He would love to just see his brother be happy. Plus, Uncle Itachi is the best Uncle.
Shisui and Obito would constantly pick on their little cousin and his little pinky girlfriend. Shisui would always jokingly flirt with Sakura to make Sasuke angry. And Obito would point out the light splotchy marks on Sasuke’s neck that were clearly trying to conceal the purplish hickeys on his neck. And always in front of his mother, making Sasuke scramble for an excuse.
Mikoto ADORES having another girl in the house, first Izumi and now Sakura. Mikoto knows that Sakuras relationship with her own parents is a little rocky so she always is there for Sakura to vent or tell exciting achievements. She also sobs when she hears Sakura is pregnant. She’s the best grandma. 🥹
