Reccing because: No wincest primer would be complete without an astolat rec. You probably get fined by the Wincest FCC, otherwise. The flaw in astolat’s wincest, if we’re allowed to say such things about our saint and founder, is that Sam and Dean would sometimes fall into the whole thing super easily — this fic dispenses with that problem with a good ol’ classic dose of evil sex pollen, and if magic makes them do it then it could be a hell of a lot worse than how delightfully they do it here. I’m laughing out loud just remembering one of the scenes. Joys.

Reccing because: This is a true all-timer wincest fic. Though the characterization is of its 2007 time, the Winchesters still feel like themselves, and more important feel like adults who are trying to navigate their very odd circumstances. A real classic of the brothers-with-benefits genre.

Reccing because: What a cheerful fuckin’ fic this is, for a fic about incestuous fuckin’. This takes the apocalyptic stakes and reels them back to a just deeply entertaining romp. Not too worried about the plot and much more worried about how hot these two are when they slam together, it’s a refreshingly non-angsty take on what it means that you just want to slurp on your brother wholesale.

Reccing because: RivkaT is perhaps the all-time understander of the Weird Affect of Dean Winchester (As Played By Jensen Ackles) and the entirely destabilizing effect that affect has on the world. A real reality-warper. This fic deals with non-con and dub-con and who-knows-what-con and everything in between in a way that is more thoughtful than tawdry (although you can certainly enjoy the tawdriness as presented and the fic does not judge you for that). It also, thrillingly, deals with Sam’s alarm about the whole thing in a way which is fairly unflinching: he wants and does not want to want and also just really, really desperately wants-- Fans of Sheila’s analysis will probably enjoy this one.

Reccing because: I know there are more famous and more favored c_b fics, but this one is such a supremely perfect scene that it should be at the top of all c_b rec lists. It isn’t the catastrophic misery or assholery or intensity of some of the other big hitters but this just has this searingly true and singular experience coursing through it: to wit, that Dean is hurt and Sam is upset and then sorry and then in love. Which isn’t a half-bad summary of Supernatural itself, really.

Rating: NC-17 Word Count: 48,000 Summary: Sam is trying to become the Antichrist in order to save the world. He has a small army of angels and demons, he has an adoring cult, he has a work of prophecy by Jack Kerouac, and he has Dean. Things are going pretty well until he accidentally signs Dean up as his Beloved Consort, a role that requires sex with the Antichrist on an altar. And that's when things stop going pretty well. Also, the soundtrack to the Apocalypse sucks.

Reccing because: It is so, so rare to find crack fics that work. This is crack treated like crack and also taken entirely seriously, which is a rare balance to find. When it needs to be horror it works, when it needs to be ridiculous it works, when it needs to be hot as fuck it works, and never has the phrase ‘apocalyptic cock’ been so appropriate and so wonderful in context.

Reccing because: This is underage par excellence, as wonderfully weird and vaguely creepy and hot and alarming as it should always be. Dean’s 19 and Sam’s 14 and they should not but they are, and if that isn’t just a summary of Supernatural as a whole I don’t know what is. On the face of it this is a vaguely gnasty first time fic, but what sets this one apart is how earnestly real it is — the grimy-but-not-OTT reality of the details, Sam’s goofy kiddishness being complicated by the reality of what hormones are and do, Dean’s too-cool-ness alleviated by the fact that he’s nineteen and therefore still an idiot, trying earnestly to help and getting it wrong and getting it very right, all at the same time. The attention to detail here just knocks me over with a feather. Gorgeous work.

Reccing because: I very much appreciate a fic that, on the face of it, seems like an OOC premise, and then as soon as you think about it for fifteen seconds you realize — oh, of course, of course that’s how it should be and how it would go. This fic delivers on that feeling in spades. There’s a deep appreciation here for how complicated Sam Winchester is and how strange and hard it would be to have his life, and zero judgment, really, for what he and Dean have to do to make that life tenable. I appreciate the subtlety here so much.

Reccing because: Is this crack? It surely is. Is it PWP? You bet. Is it in character? To be honest it hardly matters, but despite the context and conceit it does manage, somehow, to kinda feel like Sam and Dean Winchester from the canon of the show Supernatural, and that is a trick that earns it a spot on this list. Especially the way Sam goes slightly smug there at the end. Delights.

Rating: E Word Count: 38,400 Summary: Sam jerks awake in the middle of the night and everything goes to hell. Well, not literally, though Dean is staring down the barrel of less than a year before his deal comes due. In the midst of dealing (or not dealing) with his impending death, a killer ghost ship, and Bela showing up out of the blue, Dean also has to figure out what’s going on in Sam’s head to make him so twitchy, why he’s suddenly breezing through this case while writing endless notes in a notebook he won’t let Dean see. Damn it, Dean thinks, This is gonna take a lot of chickflick moments.

Reccing because: Time travel fic is fun as hell, and time travel fic that just soaks you in dramatic irony is even more fun, and more importantly time travel fic where the time traveler doesn’t have all the answers is best of all. Very little is better than Dean being somewhat at sea and Sam loving him fiercely and this fic delivers that in spades. I could only wish it were a little longer, which is a very, very rare statement from me.

Rating: M Word Count: 6,773 Summary: Set between 7.04 and the aftermath of 7.07. Dean is not as okay as he'd like you to think. Neither is Sam.

Reccing because: This fic is thoroughly in and of and intensely about season 7, which I adored and which doesn’t get enough credit from the fandom. It deals with the Sam’s Insanity arc in a way that’s angstier and ficcier than the show itself but it does so in this stupendous and murderously flat way. Dean is at his wit’s end and Sam is, too, but Sam’s finding a way to deal with it, and Sam will not compromise on what dealing with it means, and we’re all just forced to live with it. Fantastic reading experience, especially for the almost literal jumpscare you get about 2/3s through.

The Hunter Games by theproblematique

Rating: NC-17 Word Count: 92,601 Summary: When the infamous Winchester bad luck strikes twice in quick succession Sam and Dean are forced to compete in the most brutal reality TV show ever created. It’s impossible to escape the battlefield, hiding can only be temporary, and alliances inside those dark, bloodstained woods last about as long as it takes for the other Hunter to figure out how to use your weapons. And then kill you with them.

Reccing because: This is a true all-timer wincest AU fic. We’re mostly all familiar with the source material, but this work blends the universe of the Hunger Games with the characterization & destiny of the Winchester boys in a way that’s extremely satisfying. The author’s other works are recced more often, but this piece is more deserving of a place as One Of Those Reclist Fics.

Reccing because: Sometimes you just need a post-Purgatory fic that isn’t brutal. This story’s a light-hearted trip-along froth like most of glovered’s work, but there’s something in specific about this unfraught coming-together that makes it incredibly readable. Dean and Sam aren’t entirely on the same page but the relief of reunion makes everything else fade a little into the distance, and the charming little job they find themselves on here gives enough of an excuse for them to figure some things out. Also probably the best Cas & Meg side characters in a fic, so there’s that too.

Rating: E Word Count: 1,893 Summary: After Sam gives up the Trials, things start getting better.

Reccing because: This is a post-Trials fic where things don’t go incredibly wrong, which is a nice AU to sit in for a while. What’s impressive about this story, written in the time it was, is that it manages to presage the ~s11 era marriage very well indeed, in tone and vibe and even some content. They’re in the bunker and things aren’t perfect, but they’re together, and that’s a kind of perfection of its own. It isn’t sugary but it’s the kind of adult complex sweetness that makes one feel better, anyway.

Reccing because: So Dean’s dead. Everyone dies at some point. This fic is a beautifully soft and tender and bitterly kind way to deal with that. You feel Sam’s loss deep in your chest but it’s okay, because this is the world of Supernatural and there are options, and the relief he gets pours over like cool water. Not enough, and it’s not fixed, but it’s not as much of a misery as it was.

Reccing because: It’s rare to have an AU so thoroughly engage with what the alternate universe it constructs means for characterization and plot. This does something outstanding with the Sam and Dean (and Deans) created by the conceit, but also uses that conceit to do something entirely new with the canon plot that just flips me over every time I remember it. There are some fantastic character insights here, both complimentary and not, but I’ll never be over the specific scene of young!Dean looking up at older!Dean and being disappointed. That’s him, that’s our little angst machine.

They’re awful and stupid and they’re in love and love isn’t enough except it is, and they’re so friggin’ MARRIED in the most wonderful and dorky way. They have good-bad sex and they have idiot arguments and they’ve made it. Back in 2016 this seemed like the best possible option. Reading this story feels like reading 4800 words of relief.

Reccing because: If you were looking for depressing and almost revolting Lebanon AU, you’re in luck. This is serial killer!Dean at his worst and Sam Jobs at his (still slightly martyred) almost-worst and it’s the frankly gross and logical conclusion to: what would it mean, if those two horrible shitheads were still together, somehow or some way? It’s always almost a relief when fic manages to do a not-happy ending and this definitely does that. Refreshing, in its way, though you might want a shower after.

Reccing because: For any s2 obsessives as our author here is, this is a deep and alarming and inside-out dive into the obsession with a brother and with monstrousness and with what’s true and what’s not and also can you tell the difference, after all. A murky swirl through a shithole town, this fic picks and pries at wincest-as-concept in a way that’s somewhat achy and alarming and is overall delightful, if you’re willing to take the time to think about it. Plus Sam’s hot, which is of course a bonus.

This is “Whump or Pass”, a blog where you can submit your favorite characters by ask, and see if the whump community would rather whump them, or pass on whumping them!

In case you don’t know what “whump” is, here is the fanlore definition:

The term whump (or whumping) generally refers to a form of Hurt/Comfort that is heavy on the hurt and is often found in gen stories. The exact definition varies and has evolved over time. Essentially, whump involves taking a canon character, and placing them in physically painful or psychologically-damaging scenarios. - Fanlore

Rules/Guidelines

Propaganda in visual and/or written form is allowed AND encouraged

Voter fraud is also allowed because I believe if you're dedicated enough to do it; you should, but remember: With great power, there must also come great responsibility.

Characters:

Submit the name of any fictional (see below) character and the name of the media they are from.

All submissions must be fictional, possible exceptions for AU versions of a person would be decided by me on a case to case basis. Actors playing a character in live action does qualify as fictional. Real question that I’d love your expert answer on.

The Winchesters was terribly marketed and from my understanding, that is the role of the producers/showrunner to create the elevator speech and marketing materials for the series, correct?

The way TW was sold to the audience seemed unexciting, unclear and didn’t match up with how the show ended. It’s like they weren’t really sure who the audience was supposed to be so the messages were so general that I don’t think it targeted or resonated with anyone. (My marketing prof always said when you try to target everyone, you appeal to no one.).

Just like the majority of the fandom, the concept was poorly conceived and even more poorly executed.

Regardless—- Now that we know how the prequel turned sequel played out, (1) who would you have targeted the message to, and (2) how would you have described the series to make it make sense to that audience.

I’d love to hear how you would have sold it to get people watch it.

While you are correct that producers/showrunner create elevator pitches, the marketing materials are created by an agency outside the studio. The agency hires Promotion Producers to develop campaign strategies and create promotional materials such as trailers and commercials according to set of specifications. Where those specifications come from can be good questions. Ideally, they are from showrunners, but often are from Senior Producer or from the studios' own marketing team.

So in The Winchesters, the Promotion Producers are given scenes from the show's producers with ideas of the show's message. But the Promotion Producers have to work closely with the studios marketing team and often campaign ideas don't sync up. Think back to Supernatural trailers, half the time they are completely misdirects on the instructions by studio's marketing team because they believe it's more interesting that way.

Promotion Producers know there are 4 major demographics called "the quadrant" and realistically they can only target one, maybe two if they're lucky.

Since Supernatural has "males over 25", WB may have been trying to get the "females under 25" with The Winchesters by going the Buffy-lite vibe while also trying to attract "females over 25" with Jensen Ackles's Dean-the-narrator.

"I’d love to hear how you would have sold it to get people watch it."

Well, for starters, even though it's a John and Mary Winchester story don't call it a John and Mary Winchester story because SPN fans already knows that story. Instead do what they did 18 years ago when they promoted Supernatural as X-Files meet Hardy boys. Focus on the spooky atmosphere and the characters searching for monsters in the sewer. This gets audiences asking why these young people are hunting for things that go bump in the night because why would anybody in their right mind do that? That is the hook. Have John mention that hunting monsters and demons is dangerous and ask why would Mary do it. Hint at her motives. Is it for revenge? Does she belong to a secret society? When she mentioned her father in passing, is she from a line of hunters? Show action shots of the 4 young people fighting monsters and make it look like they're losing. Then have an ending shot of one of them looking bloody, triumphant, and mad.

And don't call it a romance story, Supernatural was never about romance. X Files was never about romance either and fans went nuts over the chemistry between Scully and Mulder. If young John and Mary have chemistry, great, let the fans ship them first and then go for the romance.

Are you a hardcore Sam fan or a hardcore Dean fan? I don’t know if you’ve ever talked about this before! I think for me Sam & Dean are a package deal so it’s hard for me to separate them. I probably lean towards Dean, though, mainly partly because Jensen is the most attractive person alive. What about you?

Huh, I don't know if I have, nonnie, but I'm with you, they're a package deal for me too. The most interesting thing about them is their relationship I think. Because it's beautiful and all-encompassing and codependent and unhealthy and so single-minded. They're so different, but they work and they're both brave and determined which means in the end nothing can stand in their way and that's beautiful. Their relationship also develops and evolves which makes it even better. There's the default togetherness of the past, the rebellious separation, the anewed togetherness, first by need and circumstances and then by choice, there are fights and misunderstandings and temporary separations, but they always come back to each other, become more honest with each other and that's just beautiful.

Ahem. Sorry, I just love them so much. But. If I had to pick. Give points. Make a ranking, whatever, I am slightly leaning Dean. Because yes, for shallow reasons, I also think Jensen Ackles is the most beautiful person I've ever seen in my life (don't get me wrong, Jared's both hot like burning and insanely cute, a feat not many people can pull off, but Jensen is either proof of alien life or a fae prince in exile on earth, I don't know, but he's not fucking human). From a story telling point, it's easier to get to know Dean and to emphasize with him. Sam keeps a lot of secrets in the beginning because the mytharc revolves around him and Dean kind of wears his heart on his sleeve and is the one being vulnerable. Dean's also a little dorkier, a little nerdier, gets the car and the music, while Sam's humor is more sassy and we don't really learn a lot about his likes and dislikes in the beginning except that he's not as much fun as Dean. Which is not bad, and poor boy is grieving, and Dean can be annoying, but I think there are more Dean girls in fandom and I think this is maybe one of the reasons why. As the show goes on and we learn more about Sam, he of course has the sort of almost villain arc in season 4 (the show says it itself, the blood drinking is a tough pill to swallow esp because you know he's wrong), but the way he worked for his redemption and made the ultimate sacrifice in the end, man, I never loved Sam more than at the end of season five. What he went through, the pain, the loss, learning his entire fucking life was a staged theater by Azazel to manipulate him into saying yes, and after being duped by Ruby, after falling victim to his own hubris and anger, after trying to make amends and overcoming his addiction, he still has to jump into the cage and he does… motherfucking hearteyes for Sam motherfucking Winchester. His strength and determination and the discipline he has most of the time almost elevate him to some kind of super human level. Dean obviously is just as brave, mostly just as strong (he does have his doubt arc in s5 which he overcomes because of Sammy of course), just as determined, but Dean's also a functioning alcoholic (depending on the season), seeks out meaningless sex with women to fill a void, and is just a little bit more of a mess which makes him more human I think, more relatable. Sam's maybe a smidge more admirable, while Dean has the edge on lovable. I'm nitpicking here of course. Both of these characters are larger than life heroes with their only real flaws being their love for each other (though it's really only a flaw for the characters who get sacrificed in Sam and Dean's endless quest to save each other). Yes, Sam can be closed off and Dean can be annoying and overbearing, Sam's a controlling know-it all and Dean's a bundle of daddy issues with I know what's best tendencies, but like. How can you not love them? They both are strong and honorable, they're smart in different ways that work well together, they're brave and compassionate, they risk their lives to save other people, they have fun little quirks and interests, they are witty and have great sense of humor. Different enough to create fun teasing friction but also complimenting each other. What makes these characters so special and what made supernatural work for so long is that they're layered and complex characters with strengths and weaknesses that are written mostly consistently and they're both I think among my most beloved characters in TV.

I totally understand the Sam girls (being a Sam girl is a valid, sensible life choice) and I love Sam a whole bunch, but Dean's really just a tad more fun imo and prettier 😅 not that it matters that much, I think, because like you said, they're a package deal and what creates the magic of the show is the two of them, together.

A few months ago I decided that it might be time to stop writing fan fiction. And this week I decided that I really am. This is the end

For seven years I have written over one million words of Wincest and J2 AU fanfiction which total ninety-eight stories ranging from short stories through to novellas and actual novels. I've curated playlists and created artwork and not been paid a penny!

What I did get in place of cold hard cash was kudos, comments and friends. That's the kind of thing you can't put a price on. I've received encouragement and praise, comments from people who I've made laugh and cry and dream, I've taken them away from times of pain, boredom and sleepless nights. And it's been wonderful.

The source of my inspiration, two psychotically, irrationally, erotically, codependent brothers and the men who played them who may or may not have fucked but whatever making them kiss like Ken dolls has been fun! Sam and Dean Winchester, Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, I salute you, sirs.

I'm quitting because it's simply time. The fandom is fractured and people are turning their attention to new stories. And I really do need to concentrate on getting the two novels I've written out there, somehow. I really need the money.

I would like to thank everyone who's read my work, to everyone who left kudos, to the people who left comments with kind words (except that ONE person who didn't).

It really has been fun creating worlds and OC's for J2 to live in and live with and I really hope you have enjoyed the ride as much as I have.

I will not be taking down any of my fics, they will remain for as long as Ao3 does or until one of my books gets made into a movie and they find out that I wrote erotic fanfiction about J2 and Jensen's at the premiere and I DIE of embarrassment.

But I mean it, thank you all for following, reading, leaving love, kudos and such wonderful, encouraging comments that honestly quite often made my day!

So Close Chapter 1

Series Summary: Jensen Ackles is thousands of miles away from McKayla’s normal life, both figuratively and literally. Jensen is sure they can work things out, but McKayla is less sure that they can get through things and keep her heart intact.

Chapter Summary: When Jensen Ackles walks into McKayla Brandon’s coffee shop, she does everything she can to stay sane and normal, but she’s fighting a losing batte.

Series Warnings/Explicit 18+: There will be eventual smut, likely much angst, and because it’s me, there will be fluff throughout as well. There is also awkwardness. More detailed warnings in individual chapters.

A/N: This was a request from @jensensgirl not for me specifically, but for anyone willing to write it. So, I adopted it for my 1K Follower Celebration. She’s asked that the character be given her name, McKayla, and I’ve added the last name “Brandon” just so the character has one.

This will be the first chapter in a short series. Not 100% sure how long it will be, but I felt I needed more WIPs. 🤦🏼‍♀️ It shouldn’t be more than four or five parts. McKayla was almost definitely certain that love was beyond her.

For almost a decade she’d been on endless first date disasters, had two short term dating relationships and one, two-year-long partnership, that she’d been sure was the Real Thing - capital R, capital T. They’d even lived together.

But inevitably, every guy she was with wanted to try and change her, mold her into what THEY wanted her to be. But she wouldn’t be changed, she wouldn’t be molded, her life was her own. And she was tired of having to justify that to childish men who just wanted a mommy to take care of them.

She wasn’t sure if she wanted children one day, but she sure as hell didn’t wanna marry one.

She wanted a partner in life, a real one, an equal. She wanted someone that she could laugh with and play with, but who could also take life seriously sometimes, who wasn’t just an immature asshole. They had to be someone who took care of her as much as she took care of him.

Plus, she was a thick girl and proud of her curves, and she wanted someone who appreciated them too. If he didn’t get hot and bothered at the prospect of grabbing a handful, then he could just keep walking. She didn’t need another jackass trying to turn her into his version of beautiful.

She knew what she wanted and she was just pretty sure that it didn’t exist. So, she’d begun to accept the fact that she might stay single for life, or at least for a long time. She just accepted the reality that she’d simply have to seek out sex when she wanted it, and fill her life with found family and good, healthy, platonic relationships. She was mostly okay with that; she had a lot of people to love in her life, and a lot of people who loved her back, and she was grateful.

And if she closed the blinds and watched horror movies on Valentine’s Day, well, that was only to protect her sanity.

So, when the most beautiful man in the world, Jensen Ackles, walked into the coffee shop where she worked, she may have hyperventilated a little, but she had no designs on him whatsoever, never thinking for a minute that he’d be interested.

She knew who he was, of course…Dean Winchester and Soldier Boy. She’d seen a lot of his work and thought he was immensely talented, and of course devastatingly gorgeous. But he was miles away from the reality of her life and it felt completely surreal to see him casually walk through the door with a baseball cap and sunglasses on. She did a double take as he took off the glasses and covered her mouth, trying too late to muffle the very loud gasp that fell from her mouth.

Jensen smiled sweetly as he approached the counter, making no mention of her star struck response. He must be used to it by now, McKayla thought to herself.

She tried to form her face into a pleasant smile, but she wasn’t sure if she was achieving her goal, she worried she still looked like a deer in the headlights.

“Hi there.” Jensen said, and those two simple words, spoken in his deep baritone voice, made butterflies zoom around McKayla’s stomach.

Dear God. I’ve gotta get it together.

She nodded at him. “Hi. What,” she cleared her throat and tried again. “What can I get for you?”

He looked up at the menu on the chalkboard and bit his bottom lip, thinking. A little moan escaped McKayla’s throat, and she turned it into a cough, convincingly she hoped.

“I’ll just take a large Americano. Black please.” He said, and she nodded, and then proceeded to stare stupidly at the cash register for a good thirty seconds before remembering what buttons she was supposed to press. Finally, she entered his order and looked up at him.

His green eyes were somehow even greener in person, the soft crinkles around his eyes when he smiled were even sexier, and McKayla was exceedingly proud when she pushed words out of her throat.

“$4.65.” She said, remembering her manners and adding, “Please.”

He nodded. “Sure.” He pulled a ten out and passed it to her. “Keep the change, honey.” He said with another bright smile as he moved out of the line to let the next customer approach the counter. McKayla took their order, trying not to be completely obvious as she stared at Jensen. Her co-worker, an 18 year old frat bro, made the drink and passed it to Jensen, without comment, clearly having no idea who he was serving.

Jensen took the drink and then looked back at her as he was leaving, raising his cup in a salute and tossing her a wink. She giggled and waved, and immediately wished she could take back the juvenile response. But Jensen’s smile just widened and he slipped his sunglasses back on as he went outside.

When McKayla went home that night she texted everyone she knew and told them all about her brush with the stunning actor. She went into great detail about what he looked like, and sounded like. They all squealed through emojis and gifs and she was so grateful that they got it.

They chastised her for not getting a selfie with him, but it had been busy and she didn’t want to draw undue attention to him, when he was just trying to get a coffee. But even without evidence, it was a very cool encounter and she rode on the high of it for nearly a week, very sure that it would be her favorite anecdote forever, and nothing more.

But then, just five days later, he walked back in.

It was a Tuesday afternoon, and the shop was pretty dead, it wouldn’t pick up again for another hour, so when she recognized him walking in again, no baseball cap this time and wearing a leather jacket, she screamed internally and vowed she’d ask for a quick selfie this time.

He approached the counter with the same warm smile. “Well, hello again.” He said and the fact that he remembered her from last time made her want to run around screaming like a fangirl, but instead she tried to keep herself under control and act like a human.

“Hi.” She said, her voice was an octave higher than normal and unusually breathy. “What can I get you today?”

He pushed out his lips as he thought. “I’ll take another large Americano, black. And something to eat too, this time. Something sweet. What’s good?”

McKayla’s brain was instantly mush and she couldn’t remember a single thing they served. Luckily, she could just walk over to the display counter and look. She swallowed down her excitement and trepidation and tried to pretend this man at the counter was the same as any other customer.

But of course he wasn’t and her voice was still a little weak as she suggested, “Well, the lemon square is really nice, but it might be a bit tart with the Americano. Maybe the blondie?”

He nodded. “I’ll take it.” She wrapped up the dessert and went to start brewing his coffee. She worked on her own on Tuesday afternoons, since they were so slow.

Jensen walked up to the end of the counter to wait. As the coffee was brewing, she decided to take her chance. There were only two other people in the shop, one looked like a college student on their laptop with headphones in and the other was an elderly lady sipping tea and reading, so she didn’t think she’d be drawing too much attention to him if she asked to take a picture.

She smiled shyly, knowing that her cheeks were turning beet red. She pulled her phone out and held it up a little. “Do you think, could I get a selfie with you?” She asked. “I love Supernatural and The Boys so much, I’m a big fan.”

His smile widened and he waved her over. “Of course, no problem.”

She walked around the counter and went to stand beside him. “I can take it if you want.” He said. “I’ve got longer arms.” He held them out by way of demonstration.

McKayla giggled again and wished she’d stop it. She inwardly cringed. Jesus, she hadn’t giggled since she was about six years old. But she was just a giddy mess as she came to stand close beside him to fit in the shot.

Dear god, all the stories were true, he really did smell like heaven.

“Say, Deeeaaan.” He said with a laugh and she laughed along with him, resulting in a fabulous picture.

She thanked him profusely and then went to get his coffee. She passed him the blondie and his cup, slightly sad that he was headed out the door. She’d give anything just to keep talking to him, keep the words flowing out of him in that deep voice and soft drawl.

“Thanks.” He said as he took his order. He walked away a few steps and turned back. “And thanks for the food recommendation. Can’t wait to try it.”

She nodded. “Hope I steered you right.”

He nodded again and then left with a wave. She sighed deeply, already planning her text messages in her head. She couldn’t believe she’d gotten to meet him twice, and now she had photographic evidence. She pulled her phone out and looked at the picture, barely glancing up when the door chime sounded.

She did a double take when she realized Jensen was back. “Hi.” She said, in complete surprise.

Jensen held up his food and drink. “Uh…I didn’t pay you.”

McKayla frowned for a second before she realized he was right, she’d completely forgotten to charge him.

She shook her head. “Well, don’t worry about it, I got it. It’s payback for an amazing selfie and a fantastic story to tell!”

But he just laughed and passed a twenty across the counter. “No way. If it gets out that I’m charging for selfies, my manager’s gonna be pissed.”

McKayla reluctantly took the bill and went to get him change, but he waved it away. “Don’t worry about it. Keep the change.”

She shook her head. “No, that’s like a sixty five percent tip!”

He just grinned and shrugged. “Consider it late fees.”

McKayla laughed. “Fine, but I’m buying your coffee next time.” She realized how presumptuous that sounded and she felt her cheeks burn. “I mean, if you ever come back, the…the coffee’s on me.”

He stepped up to the counter and spoke softly. “Are you working tomorrow afternoon?” McKayla shook her head, never so sorry to have the day off.

“No, sorry, not again til Thursday.”

“Perfect,” Jensen said, and she would have sworn the smile he gave her was flirtatious and teasing. “Then are you free for dinner tomorrow? Say, seven o’clock? I can pick you up here. That way you don’t have to give some random dude your home address.”

McKayla stood staring at him, speechless and stunned, saying nothing. Eventually Jensen squinted at her. “Is that a no? Got a boyfriend? Girlfriend? Don’t wanna go to dinner with the creepy old dude from TV?” He smiled shyly now. “Any of those answers will get me to leave you alone.”

Finally, McKayla sputtered like an engine that couldn’t turn over. “No, no, no, no boyfriend, girlfriend, and um…yes.” She was nodding as though her sentence made sense.

When Jensen was clearly still confused she waved her hands. “Sorry, shit! This is the least cool, I could possibly be in this moment.”

Jensen just chuckled and McKayla took a deep breath and tried to get all her thoughts in a row, so words would form into phrases. “Yes.” She spoke slowly, the better to keep logical thoughts flowing. “I would absolutely love to have dinner with you tomorrow. And picking me up here is just great. Although,” she said by way of clarification, “I’d be fine giving you my address. But it’s a little confusing to find my place, so this works.”

Jensen’s smile was blinding as he picked up his purchases again and nodded. “Fantastic, then I’ll see you here at seven tomorrow.”

McKayla just nodded like a bobble head doll and Jensen walked backwards to the door and then gave her a wink and nod and walked out as though he hadn’t completely blown apart her world.

She checked on her two oblivious customers and then ran into the back to call her best friend. Olivia answered quickly and sounded slightly concerned. After all, who called nowadays with anything less than an emergency or terrible news?

“Is something wrong?” She asked. At which point McKayla began screeching quietly into the phone, further worrying her friend until she practically shouted, “I’m going on a fucking date with Jensen Ackles! Olivia! Do you hear me?”

“What?” Olivia screamed back into her ear and McKayla chastised her.

“Olivia, you can’t freak out – I’m freaking out! I need you to be the calm voice of reason and tell me that this isn’t going to be the disaster of a lifetime! And also you have to tell me what to wear!”

Olivia took deep breaths to get a hold of herself. “Okay, tell me everything and wear something red!”

we finished ep10 and i neeeed to say some shit.

of course they'd bring missouri back just to kill her. i'm the idiot for believing they'd actually do something fun with her.

i've only had jack for 9 episodes and i would genuinely die for him. not even joking. he's the only good thing to come out of the bunker era. also. mama bear sam??? wow. i don't know how i feel about dean yet- i know he grows fond of jack later, but i don't think i've ever seen him treat anybody like this. at least not people who didn't deserve it... it's weird.

oh god. they did that for me actually. my cringe little girl. he looks soooo dumb and its so so hot. i love the boots. i love it when he cosplays. i love that they had absolutely NO privacy in that motel. wow.

4. i want ketch gone. not in a "ohhh he's so evil i want him gone!" way. it's a "please please erase everything BMOL-related from existence" way. i don't like him, the only thing he brings to the table so far is mentioning rowena. but i genuinely hope he's here just for a few episodes until something kills him.

5.e8.... happened. i guess it was....... different. e9 and... uh. dinosaurs? i HATED the camera movement, though. there's that.

6. what the fuck was up with dean forcing kaia to get in the car. holy fuck. i know we're supposed to believe its because he's doing whatever he can to bring his mother back but.... jesus. he just. wouldn't do that. it was genuinely devastating to see him act like that- it crossed too many lines.

7. holy fuck. holy fuck WAYWARD SISTERS. ugh, so many feelings. we could not shut up while watching. it was sooo much fun and such a cool way to get the girls together!! i love that you can tell they have different dynamics w each other- it feels real. there's a gentleness in claire that she shows to the "new girls" of the gang, cool big-sister vibes that she uses to calm them down, ease them into it. and another one, deeper, reserved just for her sister alex. when alex and claire are talking you can FEEL the years of growing up together. they've said some nasty things to each other, you just know it. and yeah i ship it. but: it does sting that they've been building all these great female characters who are strong and funny and smart and caring, and then proceeded to give them an episode that felt.... ugh, i don't know. i hate the word performative, but i just wish it had been treated with more seriousness? like. give them a scary looking monster, at least. let them look messy. i couldn't stop looking at claire's perfectly curled hair throughout the whole episode. they're beautiful women, i already know that, they would look pretty even if you roughen them up, i promise. it felt like the show kept repeating "wow these women are BAD-ASS, right? right!? they shoot guns!" in a way that they never needed to with jo or ellen or fuck, jody. one look at ellen and i was straightening my back, man. i miss that. i miss characters that didn't need to show their scars to show how bad-ass they are.

Anyways. I hated season 12. But it was something. And it showed the hunter world outside of Sam and Dean, something I missed a lot. With season 13 I can officially say I'm just here to watch Jensen Ackles' mouth moving. That's it. Asmodeus might have been a fun character for a video game. I hate him in this show. I want Mary gone, or at least I want someone to remember who Mary Winchester is and write her as such. Kevin was there for a moment, that was cool. Mark Pellegrino was not paid enough.

Supernatural Rewatch Liveblog S1E5 Bloody Mary

These guys really just park and sleep anywhere huh.

I'm so fond of Dean. You kind of expect him to be the "bury your emotions" manly man type at first but even this early, he keeps checking on Sam's mental and emotional state. The caretaking is so strong with this boy. man. god he starts the series at 26, I keep forgetting because Jensen's so baby-faced compared to later.

(brief side note, Jensen Ackles played Dean Winchester for so damn long he rolled out of bed forgetting he wasn't the character and has lines on his face from Dean's expressions instead of his own. You really cannot blame him for wanting out at the end of the series, even if it meant a shitty ending.)

Sam was actually pretty good with Lily (the little girl) when they talked at her dad's wake, and I'm just really soft because he was doing the same thing with her that Dean did with the kid from episode 3.

You know it really hits sometimes that these men are seriously psychopaths, standing around listening to people talk about these horrific deaths and murders and just not even twitching about it.

Why did they tear off the paper on the back of the painting? It. There's pegs on those. they could just remove it like normal humans and leave less of a trace.

Why the hell is Sam like "same handprint" about the bloody handprint? It's. A smeared bloody handprint? of course it looks the fucking same.

I love the effects of them driving with the fake background. The lighting isn't even right. Does it stay this bad?? I don't remember it being this bad.

It hurts me that Dean was so willing to be just like do it, blame me, hate me, make it my fault, just don't blame yourself about the Jessica shit.

Why didn't they just steal the mirror? So there wouldn't be other ones for Mary to hide in? And they wouldn't be hanging around for the security to come find?

Dean getting that action hero punch to the mirror got me though, fuck I love him.

Can we also talk about Sam being all maudlin, oh I have to do this, I'm the one with a secret where someone died, it's all about Jessica. And Dean too, Dean believed this! You idiots. You literally live in secrets where so many people died. Dean cannot have told every single story of every single hunt where someone died while Sam was away. Literally either of you could have done this, it is not a surprise she could target both of you.

They smashed so much glass for this episode.

"This gotta be like what, 600 years bad luck?" about 15 and then you die.

They should have been pulled over so much for sheer bad driving.

"There's some things I need to keep to myself." Sam says, thus condemning them to like three more seasons of insanity with him and his fucking curse when they could have started dealing with it right now.

So I went to watch that infamous Jenny and Beau scene from 3x13 for writing purposes. I haven't seen past 3x10 (having abandoned the show after that mid-season finale) and I'd heard about what happened, read both Elwood Reid's and Jensen Ackles' interviews on it, but never actually watched the scene.

Me after the scene:

That was their big romantic moment that got all AA's wetting their seats and lobbying hard for this pairing online?

Not only is Jenny incredibly thirsty in this scene but the way Jensen plays the scene, Beau still has absolutely zero interest in this woman romantically. He's not in love with her. He literally came by to thank her for supporting him, being there as not only his coworker but also his friend. Jensen knows very well how to play off being in love with someone, even as a guy who's just looking for a roll in the bedsheets (Dean Winchester, anyone?). NONE of that happened here.

Even this big emotional intimacy reveal didn't happen. He simply agreed to talk to her about his past, but only once he'd drunk himself to a point that he could. That's not choosing to let someone in, that's saying 'I need to get fucked up before I delve into that' which doesn't constitute full on consent or agreement. And this show is so horribly bad that apparently he refused to talk to his own daughter about it when she asked him point blank, but here he has to get drunk.

Then the hand on the leg. Yes, Beau initiated but Jensen performed it in a way that it was a friend assuring another friend. His hand is on her knee, saying he'd do the same for her any damn day. Then you see just how delighted Jenny is with the touching and she covers his hand with hers. Granted, he doesn't move away and he even looks down at their hands for a moment, which you'd think, okay yeah there's maybe something there though this is weird given how the scene is being performed from Jensen's end. And THEN Jenny turns to look at him and he IMMEDIATELY looks away. He has every opportunity to lean in, to kiss her, to make some sort of move, even just share a smile with her or keep looking into her eyes, but he doesn't.

This whole scene was Jenny initiating everything except Beau's arrival and insisting it wasn't about work. Jenny offered up the beer. Jenny slinked away from the door with a sultry "Welcome". Jenny sat on the couch first. Jenny moved right up against Beau. Jenny initiated the hand holding. Jenny is the one who looked over at him post-hand holding first.

Her doing all of that and him not returning it does not equal his being in love with her. It only shows that she has feelings for him, something we already knew. And the kicker: Beau is still keeping her at arm's length, shutting her out. That's evidenced by the way Jensen played off that looking away, that snap of the head. Plus, the whole having to be drunk thing I mentioned above.

NO WONDER Jensen said what he said in his interview, implicating sexual/physical tones to what he thought the audience expected to see, why he said he personally felt that Beau would've followed Carla and Emily back to Houston. Not only did he truly understand his character (though it seems the show botched it in these last few episodes from what I heard, on many levels) but just like with Dean's primary motivations, he understood what Beau's primary motivation was: Emily/family. No way in hell would Beau stay where Emily wasn't, for a woman that we saw him attracted to but not have any real emotional feelings for outside of friendship. I'm not saying the writers didn't have the intention to make this romantic and guaranteed they think they pulled it off here, but the entire scene shows the exact opposite, right down to Jensen's performance and the dialogue. No wonder he and Katheryn had to thoroughly discuss it and work at it to try to get it right.

I think I may have to watch these last three episodes at some point because holy hell, that was hysterical and I could use a good laugh. AA's really do make mountains out of bread crumbs.

On the other hand, it irritates me because this show had such potential starting back in season 1 and bringing Jensen, Reba, Rex, Henry, etc on board, there was potential to inject some life back into it with the addition of such great characters written that these awesome actors would have played. I blame a lot of it on Elwood, the writers, but I also blame the AA's. They pushed so hard for their self-insert character to hook up with Beau, that these desperate people making the show wanting to save it as well as their jobs ended up tanking this whole season, which brought the show down in flames. Pushing one of the mains aside and ruining the other man's character to make her all about a man. So it's no surprise to me that this was cancelled.

And all of that pushing only to end up with a friendly thank you and momentary hand hold, where Beau is still not completely giving Jenny what she's been aiming hard for this entire season. That is just beyond pathetic.

Well, AA's

RIP Jenny Hoyt. I loved your character before it became all about the pursuit of one man. RIP Poppernak, you were one of my favorites. RIP more heartwarming Beau and Emily father-daughter relationship potential along with him telling her what really happened in Houston (the only one that really deserved to know imho). RIP Big Sky, you had potential that could have easily been found again had AA's not infected the social media engagement of the show and your showrunner been desperate.

I will miss you. See you in fanfiction, I guess.

Attention fanfic writers! If you write for Jensen or Dean Winchester I have an idea for a series for anyone who wants to do it. I would write it myself but I am not good with writing. I can come up with ideas but writing it I get stuck. Plus I mess up on punctuation sometimes. So I figured I would share my idea so if someone wants to write it they can. Since it will be long I am adding a Keep Reading tag so read under the cut to see my idea.

I want to take a small thing from The Boys and bring it to the Supernatural word. The reader can be mute like Kimiko was on The Boys. Meaning she can hear but doesn’t talk. She uses other ways to communicate. But the thing is she hasn’t lost the ability to talk permanently. She can experience trauma to where she just doesn’t talk. You can have it to where doctors say she is fine and will talk when she is ready. Dean can be the key to getting her to finally start talking again. For Dean you can do Hunter Dean or AU Dean.

AU Dean- Reader can be a friend or sister to Benny(yes I gotta have best friend/big brother Benny I adore him). Benny can be living next door to Dean. Reader can get trigger by something and ends up huddled on Dean’s porch. Dean finds her huddled on his porch scared. Benny can come running over explains to Dean who the reader is, what trauma she experienced(the trauma experienced is up to you), and that she can hear just cause of her trauma doctors say she won’t talk until she is ready. Dean of course thinks she is beautiful. They can spend time together Dean helping her come out of her shell. She helps Dean feel like a better man. They fall in love and she finally speaks Dean being the first person she talks to. Of course Sam can be included as well whatever other characters you want to use.

Hunter(canon) Dean- Cas can bring the reader to the bunker. He can explain to Dean & Sam the reader was held captive and torture by either demons or whatever you want the say. Cas can tell them he rescued her and healed her. But reader won’t talk she communicates different ways. Cas can say she is fine and will talk when ready but he wants to keep her safe. They set her up in a room in the bunker and do their best to make her feel comfortable and safe. Eileen can be included in this if you want. Of course same as AU Dean he helps her she helps him. They fall in love Dean is the first one she talks to making him fall deeper in love with her.

This can also work for if you write Jensen Ackles series as well. The reader can be Gen & Jared’s friend. Of course she is mute due to trauma(the trauma she experienced is up to you)she experienced. Jensen can meet her when visiting Gen & Jared. Gen & Jared can explain to Jensen reader is mute but she can hear she just communicates in different ways. She can tell Jensen doctors say she is fine that she will talk when she is ready. They can tell Jensen with their house being noisy with the kids she needs a quiet space so she isn’t overwhelmed too much. They can ask Jensen if she can stay with him since he is divorced & the kids are with their mom mostly. Jensen can agree to it. Reader and Jensen get to know each other of course. Reader helps to heal Jensen he helps to heal her. They fall in love then the reader finally talks Jensen being the first one she says something to. He falls even more in love with her.

The series can be however long you want to make it. They have to include fluff, a little bit of angst, crack(funny stuff), smut(cause I am a hoe when it comes to Dean & Jensen), fuffy smut, any trigger warning you need to add since it deals with trauma, and no matter which one you choose it has to end happy. You can add whatever characters you want. If anyone does write this please tag me in it!! I would do it but I suck at writing. So I know it wouldn’t be any good. Just whoever decides to write it or get inspiration from it please let me know!!
