One Piece Live Action Season 3 Predictions

And now, here are my predictions for what Season 3 will entail. This is, of course, assuming that Season 2 most likely will cover the full Alabasta arc, which seems very likely. It’s a natural fit. There was a bit of a question for me as to whether Skypiea would be included or not, but as of finishing through to the end of Enies Lobby, I believe it will very much be included, as it works together with the Water Seven/Enies Lobby arc to be a very tight, solid Nico Robin-centered story, with a solid B-focus on the Going Merry itself. I do have an idea for how it would work if Skypiea was skipped, but I do not believe it will be necessary. This is also still assuming that the season will still be eight episodes, divided into groups of two by director.

EPISODES 1-4:

EPISODE 1: The first four episodes will be entirely Skypiea-centered. The first episode will start with the old derelict ship falling from the sky and the crew finding evidence of a legendary sky island. We’ll then follow them to Jaya, where we will get to see Bellamy, Blackbeard, and Montblanc Cricket. Foxy will also show up here, but it will only be a cameo, where he bumps into Luffy and challenges him to a Davyback Competition, only for Luffy to say “Nah” and walk away, leaving Foxy to mope that he didn’t even consider it, comforted by at least Porche. The episode will end with the ship getting launched into the sky by the fountain. We will also see most of those scenes of the World Government calling together the admirals and the seven warlords to discuss the threat of the Straw Hats. I personally believe that Aokiji will have an expanded role in this season, taking up the Garp/Koby/Helmeppo role of the first season and likely Smoker/Tashigi role of the second.

The episode’s Jolly Roger will be based on Montblanc Cricket and Noland the Liar, with the acorn hat on top of the skull and all that.

EPISODE 2: The second episode will take the crew up into Skypiea, with them getting to meet Conis and Pagaya, and probably McKinley as well. We’ll also get our first introduction to the Sky Knight Gan Fall, as well as most of the Shandians, including Wyper, Raki, Aisa, and Kamakiri. The episode will include the ship and half the crew getting dragged off to Enel’s shrine to be sacrificed, as well as Conis nearly being struck down by a blast of lightning. I’m uncertain how far into the forest we’ll get here.

The episode’s Jolly Roger will either be a general Skypeian design, with the skull having those funky antennae the sky people have, or it will specifically be Gan Fall-based, with the skull wearing his dinged-up helmet, and his javelin forming the “I.”

EPISODE 3: The third episode will cover a lot of the forest stuff, especially taking us fully into the war between the Shandians and Enel’s soldiers. I’m uncertain which of Enel’s followers will be kept or cut, but I assume we’ll have a good solid chunk of them. One major aspect of the story that will change, however, is that the plot will not be nearly as allergic to character death as the original was. Most specifically, Pagaya, Kamakiri, and Raki’s deaths will all stick, so that their sacrifices carry the right impact and the true cruelty of Enel is hammered home. As for Wyper, I think he will survive, for the sake of his character arc, but he will only take one of the multiple “lethal” hits he took, instead of him just shaking off death after death after death like he did.

The episode’s Jolly Roger will either be the Gan Fall-based one, or it will be based on the Shandians, with the skull having Wyper’s mohawk and tattoos.

EPISODE 4: The fourth episode will be the final showdown with Enel, featuring his ship, and the bell, and all that jazz. I’m not quite sure the exact moment it will start, but it will end with the Going Merry falling only for the balloon octopus to inflate and carry them down. Throughout most of this whole story arc, we will also likely see scenes cutting back to Aokiji investigating the Straw Hats (possibly with appearances from Garp, Koby, Helmeppo, Smoker, and Tashigi) and possibly some of Ace tracking Blackbeard. Also, I believe that flashbacks to Nico Robin’s backstory will be more spread out across the entire season.

The episode’s Jolly Roger will be based on Enel, with the skull having his circle of Taiko drums, the whole thing crackling with electricity, and all that.

EPISODE 5-8

EPISODE 5: The second half of the season will cover the Water Seven/Enies Lobby arc. We’ll start the fifth episode with the crew landing back on the ocean, and the Going Merry suffering a lot of damage. I’d like to see Long Ring Long Land, but I suspect the whole Foxy Davyback challenge arc will be skipped, as mentioned above. Either way, the crew will have their first encounter with Aokiji, then make their way to Water Seven. There we will meet the Galley-La foremen, including at least Icebarg, Paulie, Rob Lucci, Kaku, and Kalifa. We will also meet Granny Kokoro. I’m not certain about Chimney or her rabbit. They seem about as relevant to the actual plot as Johnny and Yosaku were to Arlong Park and Baratie, so . . . The episode will feature Usopp getting robbed by the Franky family, the crew destroying the Franky family’s house in retaliation, and will end in the fight between Luffy and Usopp.

The episode’s Jolly Roger could be Aokiji-based, with the skull having his hair and such, with ice everywhere, and the Marines symbol on it. Or it could be Galley-La-based, with Icebarg’s hair on the skull and so on.

EPISODE 6: The sixth episode will start out with the announcement of the assassination attempt on Icebarg, and will take us all the way through to Icebarg’s house burning down, Franky and Usopp being taken, and the start of Aqua Laguna. This would give us a full introduction to Franky, and we’ll probably see Mozu and Kiwi as well. And, of course, we will see Rob, Kaku, Kalifa, and Blueno reveal themselves as CP9.

This episode’s Jolly Roger could just as easily be Galley-La-based, but I think I prefer it being Franky-based, with the skull having his hair and shades, and his star and Hawaiian shirt colors being heavily featured throughout.

EPISODE 7: The seventh episode will cover the Sea Train chase, the storm, and probably at least the start of the siege of Enies Lobby. We will get Franky and Icebarg’s full backstory with Tom, and we will probably introduce Spandam here, if he wasn’t introduced earlier with Aokiji giving him the Buster Call. One major thing I expect to change is that we will cut out most of the million mini-bosses this arc had, so cutting out the three-headed judge, the noodle guy, the weasel guy, the other three CP9 members that come later, and so on, tightening it down to Spandam, the four original CP9 members, and the marines, with maybe the giants sticking around too. This arc is so meaty, we will have plenty to go off of, even with just them. I would like the episode to end on “I want to live!” but I don’t know if it would pace right that way.

This episode’s Jolly Roger, I think, will be based on Sogeking, with Usopp’s mask covering the skull and Kabuto taking up the “I” space and so on.

EPISODE 8: This episode will be the final showdown on Enies Lobby, including the battles with the four CP9 members, the Buster Call being activated, and so on. The battles will be tightened up a bit. We will also have the final scenes of Aokiji choosing to let Robin go because she’s found her family, Garp, Koby, and Helmeppo reuniting with the Straw Hats briefly, Usopp saying he’s sorry, and Franky being “forced” into joining, with the full launch of the Thousand Sunny and their new bounties. A post credits scene will show Ace confronting Blackbeard.

This episode’s Jolly Roger will be entirely Rob Lucci based, with his hat, hair, and goatee on the skull, leopard print on the other letters, and likely his pigeon perched on it somewhere.

This season’s wanted posters:

Luffy: He will mug for the camera with the same expression just like he did before.

Zoro: He will be sleeping, and brush it away like it’s getting in his face.

Robin: She will be smiling at the crew’s shenanigans, then her face will drop and she’ll look away as hers flashes by.

Bellamy: He will stab it down into the bar with a dagger.

Foxy: He will grab it and hold it up to Luffy’s face as he is bragging about his prestige and why Luffy should accept his challenge.

Ace: He will burn his away with rage as he glares down at Blackbeard.

If Doffy, Kuma, and Mihawk all appear in the council scene then:

Doflamingo: He will let it linger, making sure the audience and admirals all know exactly who he is.

Kuma: He will ignore it and walk right through it.

Mihawk: He will roll his eyes at it getting in his way again, and slice it with his tiny sword.

It’s hard to say if people like Buggy will have cameos or not, and Shanks and Whitebeard’s meeting could be saved for later.

Moonlight

Summary:  Everyone was already asleep as witching hours befall the Thousand Sunny, except for Law and Robin.

Everyone was already asleep as witching hours befall the Thousand Sunny, except for Law. Without the feeling of sleepiness in his body, he now stood at the deck looking at the horizon. Standing from the deck, the moon and the stars were the only thing that illuminate the darkness in the ship. It was bizarrely serene as crisp winds started to caress his cheeks. Suddenly, he sensed someone's presence, yet didn't speak when they approached him.

“Can't sleep?” the voice said.

“Nico-ya.” He did not answer her question, as he still remained his focus at the horizon.

Robin hummed, she understood that the surgeon needed silence, yet she didn't leave his side. Somehow, this tranquility is what they needed.

Not sure on how to start their conversation, Law fished something from his pocket. It was a tone snail that lets you record just like a tone dial. But the difference is that it can store different recordings unlike a classic tone dial.

“Have you seen a tone snail, Nico-ya?” he asked his companion.

Robin looked at him, suddenly taken a back that he now wants to talk. “Well, I have only seen a tone dial from the sky island, but a tone snail? I haven't.” She said as she saw Law holding a small tone snail. She can’t quite see his features that night but, guessing from his voice, he is quite nostalgic just by looking at the snail.

“Is that important to you?” she asked him without malice.

“Something like that.” He shrugged. “It's just… my friend- no, one of my love ones gave me this when I was young.” He pressed the button. He can hear a complaining young Baby 5’s voice in the background as Señor Pink shushing her. Then, in the background, someone started to plucking the guitar strings. He smiled when he remembered that it was Cora who was playing the guitar. In a matter of seconds, he forgot that Robin was there. But to his surprise, she started humming.

“You know this tune?” He turned at her, now looking at the archeologist.

“Yes. This was sometimes played by most bards whenever I stopped by at bars years ago… when I was still working with Crocodile,” she winced. “It was really a famous tune, I guess,” she finished as silence was filled after Robin told him a glimpse from her past.

“You wanna dance?” He asked her out of spite, yet there is a hint of hesitance in his voice. “Damn it, Law,” he thought to himself, wanting to jump in the ocean, which is the most idiotic idea he had thought, after what he just told to the archeologist.

Robin just chuckled at what Law said, knowing that she wouldn’t imagine the infamous ‘Surgeon of Death’ offering someone to dance, not to mention to the Devil’s Child, Nico Robin.

“I never pegged you for being a dancer.” She teased him; a playful smile now etched at her face.

“So, do I,” he staggered. “Just forget what I said.” He averted his gaze away from the archeologist, now looking at the tone snail. Serenity was still heard from the tone snail as Law imagined Cora strumming the guitar strings in the recording.

“I didn’t say that I don’t want to dance with you, Traffy.” Robin beamed, looking at the surgeon. Law scoffed at the nickname, yet, offered his hand to Robin. “Nico-ya, will you have this dance?” The ‘Surgeon of Death’ asked Robin. “This side of Law was too rare, she can’t miss this opportunity, I wonder what’s he up to?” she thought to herself.

“As you wish, Law,” she said, grabbing Law’s hand without a doubt.

Law placed his hand on her waist, gently pulling their bodies close together. Robin was taken aback but, she instinctively put her hands on his shoulder. Robin relaxed at his touch, not wanting to let go. It’s been a while since she has done this, even though most of the time her crewmates tend to love affection especially with Luffy, Nami, Usopp and Chopper, but with this? She wanted to enjoy this moment for a while, at least.

Robin wondered where did he learn to dance like this, knowing his grim background with the Donquixote family, she guessed that one of them at least taught him proper etiquette such as dancing.

“What are you thinking about Nico-ya?”

“I wonder where did you learn to dance?”

“Heh.” He scoffed. “To be honest, Senor Pink taught me aside from fighting skills. I didn’t know I could use this at a time like this.” He smirked, making Robin chuckle at what he just said.

“Yet here you are.” She smiled at him, as Law’s face reddened, but thanks to the Kami for the moon, Robin didn’t notice his features.

Two people just slowly waltzing at the calming tune of the guitar, without the sense of danger waiting in front of them. Well, here they are, basked in moonlight. As the music came to an end, no one dared to pull back— Even Law, even Robin. They stayed there for a while, enjoying each other’s presence.

“Happy birthday, Robin.” Law whispered, not letting go of her.

Robin froze but remained at ease, she didn’t remember that it was today, let alone do anything to celebrate. Still, this was a heartwarming gift, at least, coming from a stoic surgeon of death.

“Thank you, Law.” She smiled at him, lifting her gaze at him.

Nami yawned as she went outside her room to check the weather. Thousand Sunny just went out of Punk Hazard, she thought they might restock again in another island before heading to their main destination.

As she was checking the log pose on her left hand, she saw two figures together standing on the deck.  She can’t see their faces whether they were an intruder or not, so she squinted. Surprisingly, it was just her friend and… Law?

She was surprised that all of people, Traffy is doing something like that. She smirked as she mentally notes that she can use this to extort Law for belis. But then, knowing that the pair was Robin and Law that time, she thought that since it was Robin’s birthday today, she can let it slide.

1. What got you into One Piece?

Honestly speaking, I saw one of the volumes in the local library and decided to read it. I found the thing to be interesting, but I'd only hear about the anime later on, around the age of 13. I first found out about the series when I was 6 years old.

2. What got you hooked into the series?

Oh man, it's been over a decade, it's so hard to say- probably the kindness that the characters portrayed, loyalty and friendship? Something that I'd totally yearn for taken in how oddball of a child I've always been.

3. Which character would you punch and why?

That's pretty much a tie between Black Beard, Akainu, Doflamingo and Big Mom, all four of them represent things that I absolutely despise; Lust for power, corrupt "Justice", lack of empathy/sympathy and abusive behaviour. I'd go into detail of why, but I am fairly sure that it's no brainer why I'd physically assault them on sight even if it'd probably cost me my life.

Sometimes, people who are in power, do not deserve the power they've obtained and in those cases they must be taken down before they can cause any further damage to the people.

4. Which moment will stick with you forever?

"Ikitai! Watashi wa isho ni umi ni tsureteitte!"

Robin's seyuu went all out in it and.. It made Something resonate in me. I am not sure what it was, but it'll stay with me to the end of my day's.

5. Which moment pops up randomly in your head?

The first time we meet Brook, that moment will forever haunt me. Brook's voice is so gentle and it just makes you pay attention to him in it along with just how nonchalant he is while he sips his imaginary tea.

6. Who is your favourite character and why?

Uhhhh I absolutely suck with choosing favourites, I can't even say what my favourite food is! But here's a list of the characters I'm attached to for no particular reason? I honestly never know why I like someone, it's not really that important to me, if you like someone, you usually like everything in that person. 7. How much has One Piece impacted your life?

I am literally as old as the manga (23 years old (2020)) so uhh... Use that as a measure I guess? No, don't really do that. But it's.. It's kind of hard to say, I have been a fan of the series since I was six years old, I've laughed, I've cried, I've grown a lot during the 17 years that I've been part of this fandom.

I can't say that it hasn't had any effect on me nor my views, because I can say that a lot of the way how I look at certain things like familial bonds and friendships were heavily influenced by the series, but I can't even start to measure the amount of impact it truly has had on me.

8. What is your favourite One Piece quote?

Honestly, I couldn't choose only one out of this bunch, I've tried before and I always fail because they all are equally meaningful to me as a person.

9. Which laugh style gets to you most?

I-

I honestly have never thought about it? I don't really notice things like laughing styles, because to me laughter is one of the most beautiful things on earth. It shows the joy within us. And when you come to my age (or this might be more about me as a person) you just... Stop paying attention to something like that? Especially if it sounds natural to your ear.

But then again, my friends time and time again have to remind me that my sense of what is normal is very flexible and abnormal by itself. I might pass a person wearing a horse head out in the public dancing whatever is The meme dance currently and not even realise that it's not something that'd normally just happen in my home town. Yes the before mentioned has happened before.

But yeah, to sum it up: I have literally never paid attention to the laugh quirks of the characters I just don't see them as something that should bother me or make me react to it in other way than being happy for the person to be comfortable enough to actually laugh the way they would laugh when they are alone.

It's just... Laughter?

10. How will you feel when One Piece ends?

The same way as I feel about anything ending most likely, I'll be melancholic over it ending, but happy to have experienced it.

ZoTash prompt/one-shot: JEALOUSY

Echoes of what appears to be sparring shouts reverberate from the training grounds and soon, a surge of female Marine soldiers flood the halls. What used to be a serene area was now abuzz with gleeful exuberant cheers, their attention aimed at the other five female soldiers surrounding a lone shirtless green haired man at the centre of the training ground. Shinai swords drawn and pointed at their single adversary.

Tashigi, curious at the commotion, followed along the queue of female soldiers lining the perimeter of the ground, “What’s going on?” she asked, sipping at her coffee.

“He’s doing it. He’s sparring with them again!” A female soldier beamed, her eyes glued at the subject of interest.

Standing on her tiptoes, the Marine captain watch as the female soldiers consecutively charge at the man. But with a quick side step, parry, deflect and strikes on the shoulder, behind the knee and hip, each soldiers were disarmed and collapse on the dirt, one after another.

The spectators cheered and some groaned on behalf of their fallen comrades. On refusing to yield, one soldier latched on a nearby shinai and swiped at the man’s leg only for the weapon to shatter upon impact with his own.

“Too slow.” He sighed, disappointed. Spinning his head around, “You are all too slow.”

A wave of excited whispers, some of obscenities, rippled through the crowd.

“Your grasp on your swords are too flimsy! Even a kid can disarm you.” He pauses and releases yet another disgruntled sigh. “And you’re leaving too much opening! Do you have a death wish?! If I used real swords, you’d all be dead!” He turned to a soldier on the ground and offered his hand, she accepts reluctantly but hauls herself up with his help.

“The battle isn’t over until you’re dead.” He growled. “Till then, get your ass up and try again!”

Roronoa Zoro returned in the middle of the field, two bamboo swords drawn on his sides.  His eyes scan the crowd, “Who’s up next?”

Female Marines race and scrambled to try their luck at him, beaming and professing determined shouts.

Captain Tashigi narrows her eyes, irritated that her fellow Marine soldiers- especially ones under Vice Admiral Tsuru’s squadron- are so easily swayed by Roronoa’s simple display of swordsmanship. But her resentment only doubled upon realizing that while she goes and makes herself a cup of coffee to begin the day, the man was already in the heat of his training.

While Roronoa trains the female Marines; observing them with a critical eye as they do drills and correct any mistakes and praise any improvements as they spar with one another, Tashigi decides to train with other soldiers who remained wary of the pirate. But it wasn’t long until Tashigi found herself training alone in their usual spot. She discovered her fellow officers figured Roronoa’s teachings yield very effective results.

And so she was alone, much to her disappointment.

Dinner proved tougher to endure when all she hears are praises aimed at Roronoa, how his outlandish teachings opened up new possibilities in their training immensely enhancing their skills.

“He’s truly a great swordsman! Glad he’s an ally now!” A soldier announced cheerfully.

“And he’s surprisingly such a decent guy too!”

“Right?! And he’s gentle and kind!”

“Have you seen that body?”

They giggle. Tashigi stands to leave.

A tremendous divide among the Marines occurred when the highly influential Vice Admirals finally roused and saw the errors of the entire Marines’ belief. It began with Smoker’s G-5 unit followed by Vice Admiral Garp, Vice Admiral Sengoku and most recently, Vice Admiral Tsuru.

Tashigi started as a grunt in Tsuru’s squad. Her skills earned her respect and praise among her superiors and popularity among the entire female Marine soldiers. Her rapid growth caused her to be transferred under Smoker’s wing in Loguetown. Yet to this day, she would return and spend some time with her previous crew. She considered this her place of solitude, a break from her testosterone infested infantry. It was a breath of fresh air to be around fellow female soldiers and they were always glad to have her back even for a short period.

However, the Marine/Pirate integration has altered her previous comrades regard towards her. (Roronoa and three of his nakamas: Nico Robin, The God-Usopp and The Soul King, temporarily stays on the island under Tsuru’s watch for Nico Robin to decipher a poneglyph. Which explains why and how the pirate is within their vicinity.) Now, the female soldiers’ attention has long abandoned Tashigi and are directed at Roronoa, much like the G-5.

“Give it to him! I bet he’ll love it!” A soldier nudged her companion.

“I hope so. He did say he loves quality sake.”

“Haha! He’ll fall head over heels for you!”

“W-what?! No.. I just wish to thank him..!” The other soldier blushed.

Soon, things took a sudden turn. An ample amount of female soldiers developed a budding infatuation towards the man. Tashigi couldn’t contain her hackles from rising when one evening, during a bonfire, another soldier gifted Roronoa sake. He drank and celebrated with them for yet another productive day. As Tashigi observes the exchange, she notices Roronoa smile almost slyly towards the gushing female Marines. Her suspicions towards the man intensifies. He was still a pirate after all. Tashigi witnessed the vulgar glances Black Leg and The Soul King displays when around women. Who’s to say Roronoa is different? She knows nothing about the man.

That very night, she confronted him. When finally he was alone, walking groggily through the empty streets, she blocked his path.

“Roronoa, a word, please.” She gestured to an empty alley.

“If you need private lessons, you’re gonna have to wait for two days.” He smiles. “I’m a busy man. Tonight’s not a good ti—”

“I know what game you’re playing, pirate!” Tashigi interjects. “You may blind the others with your swordplay but not me.”

Immediately, the pirate’s drunken stupor evaporated and he stares unblinking. But Tashigi refused to falter.

“If you’re training them just to create your little ‘fan-club’ or to invite them in your bed, I will not ask you again, please stop. These are prominent honourable women and some are already developing feelings-- bonds to you deeper than they intended. Feelings I doubt a pirate such as you even have. Whatever dark intentions you have planned, abandon it if you still wish to see the light of day.” She stepped closer and jabbed a finger on his chest. “Respect these women or I will make you.”

Roronoa stares at the finger on his chest and slowly creeps his gaze towards the woman.

“I always wondered why you never attend the training. I thought it was just your stubborn pride that makes you lurk behind the trees, watching from a distance.”

For the first time, Tashigi hesitates and draws her hand back.

“So this is how you still see me.” He narrows his eyes at her, as realization hits. “I trained your soldiers because they asked me to. I won’t apologize for my actions.  I am not responsible for the feelings your soldiers harbour towards me neither will I apologize for how you interpret my actions towards them. That’s on you. I’ve never disrespected your soldiers in any way and I never intend to. I only wish to help… because-”

He takes a deep breath. “This may be empty words to you but… I feel obliged- I had a friend—,” Roronoa paused, dropping his gaze to the ground.

His voice suddenly grows quieter, jittery. “I wanted to prove to her… wherever she is I—I want to prove that women can be strong and capable of so much more. At first I didn’t believe it was possible.” He meets her eyes, his own glassy under the moonlight.

“Then you came along and changed my mind. How you handle yourself and radiate that irritating confidence and headstrong determination that affects the people around you. You made me realize that women are capable of so much more. And I want to help even in the smallest way. I want to prove to her that she was wrong for thinking so little of herself because of her gender.”

Roronoa hardens his gaze and almost doubles in size as he straightens himself, towering over the Marine captain. “But she’s dead. And she will never know. And I guess it’s too late for it now. And the person who opened up my mind to the possibilities and gave me hope continues to view me as a petty low-life. And whatever ounce of help I provided in the end didn’t matter.”

The man shakes his head and before stepping around her says, “What do I know? Pirates don’t have feelings, right?”

That night, Tashigi couldn’t sleep. Roronoa’s words cut her deeper than any wound inflicted in battle. How petty and shallow of her to view Roronoa in this light.

His late friend… Of course. How could she forget? When will she ever see beyond herself? She was insecure, blinded by her weakness. Jealousy remains to be her biggest vice, the wall that prevents her from moving forward- the gap between their abilities. She was right about one thing however, she knows nothing about the man.

The following days, Roronoa stopped showing up at the training grounds and began training somewhere else, alone, and refused to train and spar with the female soldiers, however he allowed them to watch.

“Could we have been too much for him?” A soldier during lunch muttered weakly.

“Maybe our progress was too slow he got impatient.”

“Ugh. I shouldn’t have pushed him to try our family’s sake.”

“Face it, ladies. The man didn’t see anything special and probably got bored.” Another stirred at her lunch dully. “He’s still a pirate. Open your legs at him and he might—”

“He’s not like that!” Tashigi snapped. All eyes on her. Upon realizing her outburst has generated attention she wasn’t used to, she trembled and cast her eyes down. “Roronoa is… a lot of things. But he’s not like that.”

She quickly dislodge herself from the predicament. She needed to find the man- for the sake of the Marines. But more importantly give him the apology he deserved. She cannot allow her frivolous mistake sever the unity between Marines and pirates. Tashigi could not locate him that evening so she woke up early the next day and luckily found him in his new training spot, surrounded by female soldiers urging him for a spar.

Tashigi apprehensively stepped closer into his area. A twitch of his eye suggest he’s aware of her presence.

“Roronoa, please… please train them again.” She whispers and hopes he hears amidst his grunts and loud thrusts of his sword.

“They can train themselves.” He grunts.

“They can.” She swipes a quick glance at the inquisitive soldiers. “But they prefer your guidance. They enjoy your company.”

“They’ve trained without my supervision long before I arrived in the island. They don’t need me.”

“Roronoa, please-“

“No.”

Before her tears threaten to spill, Tashigi knelt down and pressed her forehead on the ground and bowed deeply before the man.

“I apologize for every malicious words I insinuated. You didn’t deserve the accusations. I was wrong. It was unjust- I was,” She bit her lip and forced the trembling words out, “— ignorant. I figured my misplaced vigilance for my fellow Marines only causes harm than good. And I realize my accusations reflected more about my insecurities than of your character.”

The thrusting of sword stopped and louder whispers emanate from the growing onlookers.

“I don’t expect you to forgive me. I only wish for you to know how deeply I regret my misdemeanour.” She sobbed. “Please do not punish them because of the lapses in my judgement. Roronoa… Roronoa-san, it would be an honour to gain your insights.”

Tashigi took a deep breath and lifted her head slightly, “Please train them—train us!!”

“Tashigi-san…” Echoes of her name ran through the crowd but she refused to lift her head.

A surge of delight rushed through the swordsman’s chest and instantly felt an entire lightness of being, as if the overbearing weight he’s been carrying the last couple of days was lifted off his chest and he was engulfed with unexpected satisfaction. A single apology from the woman would have suffice, but this almost evaporated every affliction he’d ever experience. Had this happen months ago, he would have a quip to counter, instead he clears his throat,

“Then what are you waiting for? Grab your shinai. We’re losing daylight!”

Tashigi finally raised her head, face coated in watery dirt but she didn’t care. Altogether, the entire female Marine squadron exclaimed, “Haiii!!”.

Do you create your own comic books? If so, what is your inspiration?

The answer to your first question is a firm not yet! While I've got my main comic project in the works: ALBION, the preparation of it's story has left me a little bit frazzled. However, I'll be updating more concepts for it soon and you may see some lighter comics of it in the near future! You may feel free to check out any current concepts and progress on my blog!

The second question is a little bit harder because frankly there's so many things. Ill give you the “highlights” of what I look for in other people's work and my own.

1. Comic Inspirations

I've been reading comics my whole life, this makes it much easier to get the general beats of paneling down. Or the exaggeration of body movement, or even bubble placement! (Easier not easy. lmao) When it comes to comic art aesthetics I have a separate list of artists I look for in comic cover art, comic page art, and small cuter comics. There's simply just a difference in detail and it matters a lot, especially when you're trying to make a comic all by yourself.

Two of my biggest inspirations, and really two that scream almost peak perfection for me personally are Patrick Gleason (particularly his work in Batman and Robin) and Greg Capullo (particularly his art in the New 52 Batman series).

Pat's ability to both compose, create emotional scenes, and design characters are always on my mind. I wasn't even particularly happy with the New 52 series in DC but both him and Tomasi quickly won me over. Not only that, but his work is also gorgeous is Superman! I think it might be a combination of his drawings and whoever does the coloring (unless he's the one who does the coloring, not sure) but its definitely worth a look!

Capullo on the other hand has this wonderful horror element. And while I have very mixed feelings about any of those stories, the art wins me over each time. Seriously, go look at the man's covers! They're fascinating if you love horror and the superhero genre. It's like this wonderful mix of the two, one doesn't over power the other.

There is of course many other note worth artists I look to, a good few names are: Kenneth Rocafort, Raga Sandoval, Kevin Wada, Phil Noto, Terry Didson, Becky Cloonan, and many more!

Also, if you love design and comic covers, do yourself a favor and look up Yasmine Putri! They're perfect.

2. Inspiration Outside of Comics

Obviously there's a lot of inspiration outside of comic books. Most of which are either folklore, traditional and cultural influences. I tend to stick around Europe for these, but hopefully in the future can move out to learn about other cultures! Mostly I'm learning about Celtic groups. And I'm quite literally looking at archaeological findings. That's the best way to ever really be informed on any of your interests. Go to the sources and all that. It doesn't exactly inspire me in creating the comic panels, but research is important for your story. (Though I would never recommend getting bogged down by all the facts - its just not worth it - unless you're really trying to make something historical). Folklore is the basis for my inspiration but I tend to look at movies or shows for writing!

I'm not a big fan of most writing in DC Comics or Marvel, I've read several hundred manga and find different issues, but still issues. Over all tv or film has been more enjoyable and there's a lot to learn from there. From the costuming (though you really must simplify everything for comics) to the scene set up. (Also have you seen Alfred Hitchcock's movies? They're really cool for comics. Like, so good in framing and drama). And that's where I draw most of my writing inspiration and emotional impact.

There's also notable artists, though not comic book artists, who are out there as well. I follow a few, but my main inspiration currently is Nico Delort who has a fascinating hand in drama and lighting. His inking skills are to die for and loosely reminds me of Greg Capullo's inked pages in Batman. Same creepy vibes, if you catch me.

3. What am I looking for?

So I've established I love fantasy, horror, folklore, and superheroes right? Now Im looking for the best way to share that. These are just a few final bits of what I'm looking for in my art and what I want to produce and why.

Web comics I don't look at nearly enough, but since this will likely be my main mode of sharing my work it's definitely on my to do list. Also have you seen Avasdemon? Im in love, gives me animation vibes but without the animation and the rendering and artwork is gorgeous! My goal is to find more like this one and expand in a similar way.

The Episodic style, not very common nowadays and if a show does have it, it quickly loses it for more... boring... plot. (Looking at you Supernatural) I don't hate plot, but in my episodic shows, I love having monsters of the week (Star Trek TOS and BBC Merlin <3). Star Trek DS9 has an okay mix. Rare occasion where it didn't frustrate me. And technically Merlin has plot, but.... lmao literally nothing affects anything ever, everything kind of just happens in that show. xD Both infuriating and brilliant. But yeah, my goal is to hopefully bring some of that back for people who also love episodic shows! They're fun! I really wish the tv industry didn't decide to eliminate them completely. (Another super fun example is Quantum Leap!)

I can throw shade at Supernatural, but I think the first two seasons are partially what drive me towards my more horror like art? Im still at the beginning stages of what I truly want to draw, but I think I might owe that show and obsessions with being scared. (Or it could be Chucky, or I know what you did last Summer, or Scream, or... I watched to many horror movies as a kid)

If you have a request box and it’s open can I get a Tim x demigod reader. Tim is a son of Hermes and the reader is a daughter of Athena. The reader only likes hanging out with the seven pulse Nico, Will, Grover, and Calyps. The adult figures are Mr. D and Chiron. She only hangs out with the seven Nico, Will, Grover, and Calypso and had been in every quest with Percy and the rest since Percy got to camp. The reader is antisocial and an introvert. Tim somehow worms his way into her heart.

a/n: i am so sorry this is so lateeee! you have no idea how many times i started this and rewrote it. you really gave me a hard challenge lol but it’s here and i hope you like it

Tim couldn’t stop staring. He knew it was probably weird and he should look away, but it’s fascinating watching you swing your sword. You’re so graceful, so calm and collected when you flex your wrist to make a harsh cut in the air.

“What are you staring at?” is the question that drags him out of his dream like state.

Looking up, he finds his brother staring down at him. Well, not really his brother, but someone he considered as such nonetheless. They grew up together, even though they didn’t share the same god or human parent, just a legal guardian that gave them a home when all hope seemed lost. But he was as much of a brother, maybe even more, as his cabin mates were.

“Nothing,” is his nonchalant answer. Dick already knows what he’s staring at, anyway, he doesn’t even need to ask, but he loves teasing him about his crush.

Dick snorts. “Yeah, sure, I believe you.”

Practice swords clash and grunts fill the air. You stand at the ready, not giving into Percy’s playful taunts. Growing bored, Percy finally rushes at you and you easily sidestep him and swing, getting Poseidon’s son square on his back.

“Stop sulking and go talk to her,” Dick suddenly says after a beat of silence.

Tim can’t help but wrinkle his nose in annoyance. As much as he loves his brother, he really wishes he were less meddlesome.

You flip your hair back and stare down Percy as he tries to counterattack, but you get him again, right behind the knees, Annabeth shouts your praises and it causes Percy to pout and turn to look at his girlfriend, once more leaving himself wide open for you to attack.

“Easy for you to say,” Tim mumbles. “You get along with everyone.” Must be the Aphrodite genes in him.

“Because I make an effort.” Dick nudges Tim’s head with his finger before ruffling his hair just as Percy throws his sword to the ground and raises his arms. “Look, she and Percy are done training for the day, now is your chance.”

This is his chance! He hops to his feet, but suddenly his feet stop as his mind starts over thinking. What if… “What if she wants to be on her own?”

He knew how guarded you were, after all, you had been betrayed in the worst way possible. Betrayed by someone you trusted and looked up to; someone who was like an older brother to you. While Tim was hurt to find out that a housemate—a sibling no less was behind the betrayal, it didn’t have the same impact on him as it did on you. You had been devastated, full of anguish as you tried to deny what became so clear (if any of his siblings—Dick, Jason, Cassandra or Damian—did half of what Luke did, he would’ve lost his mind). He wonders if that’s why you choose to keep to yourself? Avoid the hurt that someone could cause you by keeping your friend circle so tight and close?

He’s an idiot. Of course it is.

Dick rolls his eyes. “Just go-“ he pushes him forward- “and talk to her!”

“What do I even say?” He asks in a panic.

“Ask if you can sit together for dinner!” Dick suggests. “Or if she’d like to train with you tomorrow! You got this, Timmy!”

Yeah. Yeah! He does have this! He can totally do this! Tim nods resolutely, ready to march up to you and ask if you’d like to sit with him, only to find you’re no longer on the training ground. His shoulders fall and he lets out a loud sigh.

With a sympathizing chuckle and a pat on the back, Dick says, “Next time.”

“Yeah, next time,” Tim murmurs.

He tries his luck as you’re cleaning your weapons, a hand me down celestial-bronze sword from Annabeth and two identical blades gifted to you by Damasen when you fell into Tartarus with your sister and Percy.

You were pretty territorial with your stuff, preferring to clean them and wield them yourself. He’s only ever seen you let Annabeth touch them, and only because she gave you your first weapon.

“Hey,” Tim speaks up slowly, gaining your attention, and you pause in your ministrations. “Um, sorry, do you mind if I—“ he points at the cleaning wax and everything you have laid out to keep your weapons in top condition.

Your eyes fall to the spread in front of you and you nod, raising an eyebrow in his direction.

“Thanks,” he mutters and he gently lays out his own weapons gifted to him by Bruce. They’re not the most traditional of weapons like yours or most in camp and he can tell you’re intrigued by the way your eyes linger on them. “Uh, do you want to try using it?” he asks, motioning to his custom bo staff, made out of celestial-bronze, with his hands.

You shake your head, but the curiosity lingers in your gaze and Tim feels his heart speed up when you don’t look away. “How do you kill monsters with it?”

“I—I don’t,” he answers truthfully. “It disorients them, gives my brothers or Cass a chance to finish them off.” You nod slowly, unsure if that’s such a wise idea. Monsters don’t attack to disorient, they attack to kill, so why shouldn’t he? “But I do sometimes use it as a makeshift sword,” he jokes and for a moment he swears he hears a small puff of air that sounds kind of like a giggle.

It’s enough to have him grinning widely.

“Hey—“ a voice interrupts—Nico. When did he arrive at camp? “You done, yet?” He asks you, not even acknowledging him, which isn’t much of a surprise. Hades’ son tends to keep to himself, preferring to travel on his own, too, but occasionally he’d seek you or the others out for companionship.

“Just about,” you answer him, voice lighter and full of warmth. A tinge of envy shoots through his veins. He wonders when you’ll be able to direct that voice in his direction. “Give me a moment to wipe off—there.” You pause and your eyes lock with his for just a moment. “Do you mind putting all of this away?”

“No,” he answers dumbly, unable to break eye contact with you. “No, I don’t mind.”

“Thanks, Drake,” you murmur and quickly put your weapons away to join Nico for who knows what.

He hopes he can spend more time with you next time.

Next time comes a lot sooner than Tim thought it would.

He can’t sleep. It’s not the first time, either. His cabin mates usually make fun of him, say his mind is always running and that’s why he’s never able to rest. He’s starting to believe there might be some truth to their words. 

With a sigh, he carefully sneaks out of the cabin, grabbing his red hoodie as he goes. He follows the path to the woods where he knows he’ll find some peace and quiet. He knows he shouldn’t stray far, even with Wayne Tech and the fleece protecting the perimeter, you could never be too careful. He doesn’t go too far from camp, but far enough where he’s sure Connor won’t find him and try to pull some kind of prank on him when he realizes he’s gone.

The twigs snap under his feet as he gets closer to the lake where all the naiads play in during the day. He knows they’re all asleep by now and shouldn’t bother him, or so he thought.

Hands wrap around his wrist, ready to throw him over their shoulder with all of their weight, but Tim is quick. He’s able to pull away and wrap his own arms around his attacker—why are they so light?—and is able to throw them both on the ground where he successfully managed to pin them down. 

Peering down at the person pinned beneath him, his eyes widening almost comically, embarrassment finding a home on his cheeks. Shit.

“Drake?” Your eyes are just as wide and shocked as his, mouth parted slightly as you stare up at him unblinkingly.

Your name falls from his lips the same way, unsure if it’s really you beneath him right now or some kind of mind trick.

The shock drains from your eyes and you grow serious, suddenly bucking him off of you. He gets the hint and quickly scrambles to his feet.

“I’m sorry, you just grabbed me and I—“

You ignore his rambling, wiping dirt off of your pants. “Why are you out here? You know it’s dangerous.”

His brows furrow and he fixes his hoodie. “Could say the same to you.”

You eye him, head tilting and he has to tell himself to keep eye contact—don’t break, don’t break. He swears he can get lost in those endless shimmering eyes of yours. You sigh and turn away first and Tim let’s out a breath he didn’t know he was holding. “Couldn’t sleep.”

“Same,” he answers, voice coming out as a broken squeak. He curses himself for not keeping his voice leveled. He really has it bad doesn’t he?

You don’t say anything, instead you head towards a small patch of grass by the glistening water of the lake and plop down. You bring your knees up to your chest and you just sit there, and Tim doesn’t know how, but he somehow manages to find the courage and strength to drop himself down beside you.

He waits for a beat, and when you don’t tell him to leave, he relaxes, one leg stretched outward and his palms resting against the ground as he leans back.

You spend the rest of the night in companionable silence.

Tim thankfully has the option to opt out of Capture the Flag this week. On his mini quest with Jason and Cassandra, he got hurt pretty bad saving a child from a wild hellhound terrorizing a small town on the outskirts of Gotham. Not that he’s happy that he got hurt, because ouch hellhound teeth digging into skin is the worst thing he has experienced, and that’s saying a lot as a Demi-god and Robin.

Don’t get him wrong, he gets why everyone gets super excited about it, but sometimes—members of the Ares cabin, like Jason, especially—get super competitive and it becomes this whole thing where everyone fights all day and they take more jabs at one another than usual.

“You still ain’t good, kid?”

Tim spares a glance over his shoulder at Jason, who is geared up and ready. Dick and Cassandra flank his sides both in their own personal gear.

“Hellhound got me pretty good.”

Dick ruffles his hair. “I’ll see if I can get Chiron to spare some Nectar or Ambrosia after the game.”

He had some when he arrived at camp, but it wasn’t enough for a Hellhound bite apparently. “That’d be great. Thanks, Dick.”

“Stay safe,” Cassandra mutters patting his arm before making her way over to her other team members with excitement. He forgets how much she loves Capture the Flag.

Dick shakes his head and Jason chuckles lowly, the two following after her.

“Good luck!”

“Won’t need it,” Jason barks back at him, smirking.

He rolls his eyes and pities the fool that’ll have to take on his brothers and sister.

“Here,” a soft voice says just as a small bag of squared treats falls on his lap and he startles, barely catches it before it can drop to the ground. “I had some extra Ambrosia lying around.”

He blinks at the food and then up to find you looking away from him, your friends just a few feet away.

“I’ve never fought a hellhound, but Percy and Annabeth said they can be pretty vicious.”

“Are you sure—“

“Yeah,” you cut him off, finally meeting his gaze, a small smile on your beautiful face that has his heart racing and the wound in his leg throbbing. “Keep out of trouble, Tim.”

Tim. You called him Tim! This is—that’s great news! Just as he’s registering his name drop, he realizes you’re already walking away from him to join the rest of your friends waiting off to the side.

“Thanks,” he calls out to you and you glance at him over your shoulder, eyes scrunching up and lips turning up in one corner. Shit. How is it that one simple smirk can turn his world upside down and kick his heart into overdrive? It should be illegal to make someone feel so strongly as you make him feel.

If he dies from his hellhound injury right this moment, he wouldn’t regret anything in his life.

Except he would regret a couple of things. He knows over the last few years you’ve been in and out of the camp, following your sister and the rest of your friends on the prophesied quests, but he wishes he had tried to get to know you earlier. Maybe then he’d somehow be connected to your prophecies too, and he didn’t have to worry about you never coming back.

“Relax,” he hears Jason say behind him as he and his siblings wait with him for any signs of you and your friends. “She’s gone through worse trials than this and has made it out alive. She can handle finding her mother’s darn owl.”

“She’s strong,” Cassandra adds with a resolved nod, completely convinced about her words.

“Yeah,” he says breathlessly. “She is.”

“She may have already found the owl,” Dick reassures, clapping him on his shoulder. “She’s probably on her way to Olympus to deliver it and Annabeth said that might take another week.”

Gods, he hopes not.

It’s another day, and Tim wonders if you’re okay. If you’re keeping safe and warm. He knows Frank and Piper wouldn’t let anything happen to you, you three are as thick as thieves, and trust each other with your lives, but he still can’t help it.

He thinks back on that night on the lake, how you just sat side by side in silence, and more often than not, most nights he’d find himself by that lake with you by his side.

The first time you broke the silence, you asked him more about his bo staff, asking how it worked and if he’d regret picking that as his choice of weapon. He told you it was gifted to him, and he trusted his weapon to get him out of messy situations. You just stared at him for a beat longer before nodding in understanding.

That night, after you had both went your separate ways—you to your cabin and him to his, he lay awake as his thoughts run wild.

Those nights, sitting side by side in companionable silence, or in shy conversation as you watch the water sparkle, feels so long ago now.

He grabs a rock, turning it in his hands, weighing it. He gently raises it and is about to flick his wrist to skip it across the water when a soft voice stops him, the rock falling to the ground and rolling away.

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” His head slowly turns, as if trying to process that familiar voice—because it can’t be! Annabeth didn’t think you’d come for another week! “Naiads aren’t fond of campers throwing things in their lake.”

He scrambles to his feet and takes in your form—apart from a scratch on your cheek, you seem okay! “You’re home!”

“I’m home,” you repeat, a slow smile making its home on your beautiful face.

Gods! He could just kiss you out of relief!

“I’m sorry I’ve been gone for so long,” you murmur shyly and his eyes widen. “I heard from Annabeth you’ve been waiting for me.”

“No!” he interjects loudly, and the water behind him ripples. Shit. Don’t wake up the naiads, Tim! “No,” he tries again softly, “don’t apologize. I’m just, I’m just glad you’re safe.”

It’s quiet out by the lake, not a single bird to be heard or an occasional giggle from a nymph breaking curfew. It’s like everything is holding its breath, watching, waiting to see what might happen. Or maybe it’s just him.

“Okay,” you bend slowly, turning away from him as your smile turns awkward, strained, “well, I just wanted to let you know I’m back, so—“

His hand reaches for your wrist without thinking and you stare at him, smile falling from your face, but you don’t look scared. Your head only tilts and your eyes sparkle with the reflection of the stars, and he knows you’re only curious.

He’s curious, too. Why did he stop you?

“I—“ he closes his mouth, unsure of what to say exactly. His hand drops to his side and he berated himself. He’s already made a fool of himself, no need to keep doing it.

You sigh gently, facing away from him for a moment before taking a couple of steps to stand right in front of him, the tips of your shoes almost touching his. He has to resist the urge to hold his breath, because wow, you’re even more beautiful up close. “Tim, do you—do you like me?”

“What?” he asks dumbly, having not expected you to ask that of all things.

Heat radiated off your pores, eyes drooping and a sweet flush beginning to appear on your skin. “Sorry, I—wow. I’m an idiot. Um. I’m sorry, forget I asked that—“

Before Tim knows what he’s doing, his hands have somehow made a home on your warm skin, and he watches as your eyes widen, mouth parting in a silent question. He knows he’s being oddly intimate, but he didn’t know what else to do! Probably not this! But you’re not pushing him away so that’s a good sign, right? “I—I do,” he admits. “I do like you. I like you a lot. Since the moment my siblings and I arrived and I saw you training with Annabeth.”

“That was so long ago, Tim,” you say, voice a little breathless and he really hopes he hasn’t creeped you out.

“I—I know, but you looked so cool telling her to stop taking it easy on you.”

“I was annoyed,” you whisper.

“Yeah.” He grins slowly, almost in a haze. “But I thought you looked cool.” Your eyes drop to his hoodie as his hands drop to his side. “I just—I just thought you should know since you were asking and—“

“I like you, too,” you admit shyly, eyes meeting his and he swears he can see himself reflected in your eyes surrounded by stars instead of these dark trees. “Somehow, someway, you’ve worked yourself into my heart, Timothy Drake.”

“Oh, man!” He can’t help but laugh, nerves finally slipping from his tense bones, an unfamiliar heat taking over every piece of him. And he wonders if this is what true happiness feels like? “Can I—“ he clears his throat. “Can I kiss you?”

When you nod bashfully, he presses his lips against yours, relishing on the softness of them as your hands cup the back of his neck, and gods, he could just laugh again because this doesn’t feel real. You don’t feel real, but you are real, and you’re so sweet and soft and he can keep kissing you all night, but it’s a shame you both need to breathe at some point. And so, reluctantly he pulls away, only to press his forehead against yours.

“Have dinner with me tomorrow?” he asks, breath fanning over your lips.

You chuckle and he smiles. “I’ll have dinner with you every night, Tim.”

One Piece Wano Kuni analysis : How Oda brings small humanity touches in the plot of an epic/adventure story

So far the Wano arc has been truly fantastic. All the characters of this arc are deep and have wonderful backstories and personalities. Besides, the world building is amazing and I do feel like I am in the middle of a revolution. I am feeling oppressed by the political system of this country and I really do feel attached to all these innocent people who have to suffer because of Orochi's madness. Unlike most stories I do understand the reason why there's a revolution going on behind the scenes. Through these long chapters where you can see children being taught propaganda about how great the shogun is in the Flower Capital while people from Ebisu's town are forced to smile despite their hardships I slowly learned to care about an imaginary country that I didn't even know a year ago. That's one of Oda's strenghts. Contrary to some arcs this isn't just about "saving those who asked for help". All these characters have an actual true and personnal reason to fight linked to their backstories or personnalities : Luffy's promise to O-Tama the little girl his dead big brother swore to protect, Zoro's desire to avenge Tonoyasu, Hiyori's hate for the man who ruined her life twenty years ago .....

Actually for me this country and these characters have truly gained life. Discovering new things about the fascinating japanese culture through an arc from my favourite manga is a dream.

But Wano Kuni isn't just about worldbuiding. It's also about action. There's a revolution going on. There's this prophecy from Oden's mysterious wife. It's almost mythical. There are people who want to fight against this injustice. There are those who must keep living to give food to their starving kids but on the other side there are also people who didn't even know what the word "pain" is. In chapter 931 if I remember well Orochi said that the Wano country is like a paradise. There are all these geishas to bring happiness and music, banquets, cherryblossoms... But we, as readers, know what's going on. We know that this is just a bunch of lies. As Luffy stated in chapter 949 this country is a living hell. And if they don't fight, if they don't change the situation, these people are going to keep suffering. THAT'S WHY A REVOLUTION IS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. Otherwise nothing will change. The rich will become richer and the poor will become even more poor. Twenty fucking years of a dictatorship is like a lifetime for some people can you imagine that ?

So let's talk about this revolution. The epic perfect plan to overthrown the shogun (that Luffy kinda of fucked up no surprise there), the badass preparation for the final battle, Wano Kuni's background (the story of Hiyougoru, Tonoyasu's past...) and all this plot about keeping identities a secret or having a double identity (Komurasaki the courtesan as princess Hiyori, O-Toko as Ushimitsu (even if this last one is just a theory for now)...) is great. In fact these diversity of intrigues in just one arc is great. ( to name a few of them we have the Komurasaki-Kiyoshiro plot, Udon's prison plot, Zorro's lost sword plot....).

What I really enjoy about Oda's writing style is that he doesn't only shows the bright side of the revolution with all the epic battles and perfect strategy but also the darkest sides of being a renegade. There may be traitors among your allies, you may get captured and tortured, the ennemy is ready to do everything in order to get information from you and you may even die. There will be disagreements about what to do even inside the rebel alliance because not everyone will trust each other and every person is different : everyone has different beliefs and fears. Maybe the plan won't work and the revolution will fail (you can feel the characters insecurities in chapter 938 during the Law-Shinobu disagreement). Furthermore the revolution won't wok without some great sacrifices. Speaking about that...

Please can we take a moment to mourn Tonoyasu's death ? This man deserves some respect please pay tribute to him. He had a loving daughter and people he cared about and yet with just his life he changed everything. Without him the revolution would be truly doomed. At the moment when everything was going down for the rebel alliance he saved them. His public execution was the turning point and until now (we are in chapter 951) we didn't even know the full consequences of his death. This death really impacted me. How could a man sacrifice his own life to save a future he would never be able to see? Such a little yet great and bold move from Oda. ONE LIFE. ONE SACRIFICE. And yet it changed everything. The rebels have a new plan. A new hope. The revolution can keep going.

Respect Shimotsuki Yasuie.

>RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE CHARACTERS

And now dear friends we have reached the point where the title of my analysis finally makes some sense lol. Let's talk about human relationships inside this arc and name just a few of them.

-Tsuru and Kinemon, the lost lovers

-Luffy and O-Tama or how Ace lives in his little brother

-The nine red scabbards friendship

-The interactions between the members of the strawhat crew

-Hiyori and Zoro growing relationship (or should I call it "the new ship of the One Piece fandom"?). I hope they turn to lovers. They have a really good chemestry.♡

-Hyogoro and Luffy, the master and the student

-O-Tama and Momonosuke friendship

-Komurasaki and Kiyoshiro hidden secrets

-Killer and Eustass Kidd, the partners

-Luffy's and Kidd's rivality

-Kawamatsu and Hiyori story

So we have romantic, friendly, and familiar relationships inside just one arc. It's intense. This is going to be huge.

I could analyse all the relationships between the characters of this arc but I want to especially talk about the one who impacted me the most. It's going to surprise you.

I want to talk about Nico Robin and O-Toko. The pannel from chapter 951 hit my heart really hard :

You guys remember Robin's backstory right ? The daughter of a criminal who survive a genocide and was chased for years by the government because she was the "devil child". Robin lost her mother at an early age and I think that this is the reason that she kind of become a motherly figure. She has developed strong mother instincts.

Well when you think about it Toko's story is a little similar to Robin. She is chased by an entire country despite being a child mostly because her father was a criminal and she "disrespected" the shogun. But like Robin did in that fateful day in Ohara she laughed at it (well she is kind of obliged because of the SMILES fruit too...).

Robin loved the girl from the beginning: she saw her as a bright kid with a great sense of humor and she saved her during the Orochi banquet. So I think that when she saw that this little girl was being hunted down just like her years ago she swore to give her comfort and love. This hugging scene between O-Toko and Robin warmed my heart. They are just like a mother and a daughter and I think that the two of them really needed each other.

Do you see my point ? Even in a story full of action, with plans, battles and a revolution going on Oda manages to keep writing little heartfelt scenes like this one that allows the readers to not forget that more than just being fighters people must praise their humanity. These little touches of humanity add much more than you can even imagine in an action story like One Piece because they allow us to care about the persons for whom our protagonists are fighting.

1. What got you started watching One Piece?

When I was a kid the anime aired on tv after lunch, so I eventually ended up watching it (without really understanding what was happening tho) and then I read the manga for the first time around middle school

2. What got you hooked in One Piece?

Well, I’m a sucker for anything with the “found family/power of friendship” trope in it and I really love the world building (and ofc the characters!!), but what really gets me me everytime are the mysteries that slowly unfolds in the background throughout the story and the way that small details often end up being super important much later than when they are introduced  

3. In One Piece who did you want to punch in the face so much, and why?

Probably every celestial dragons that has ever appeared in the series - and maybe Wapol as well, he was.....straight up annoying

4. What One Piece moment will stick with you forever?

Robin’s “I want to live” (I’m basic, but this is objectively one of the greatest scenes, don’t @me)

5. What One piece moment pops up randomly in your head?

That scene in Thriller Bark when Sanji is about to fight against Absalom and he’s like “I know you’re hiding a bazooka”. I remember vividly watching this scene as an 8 yo and thinking that was the coolest thing ever.

6. Who is your favorite One Piece character and why?

Oof, I’m the worst at picking favourites, especially if we’re talking about One piece. 

Probably Sanji is one of my favourites (if we ignore the whole pervert stereotype that ruins everything), he’s shown to have good emotional intelligence and intelligence in general (all those situations when he disappears for a couple of scenes and then it is revealed he messed up somehow the villain’s plan!!yes baby!!). He just has so many good interactions with everyone, even with Nami and Robin (in those occasion when he’s not used for the “”pervert gag””, of course, which is why I’m so mad about it! It ruins the whole character!). On a side note, his outfits are super on point, fashion icon.

Nico Robin is a big fav as well, she’s a very interesting and mysterious character and I can’t wait to see her finding out what  happened in that missing part of history (also, I’m gay).

Special mention to Eustass Kid, who (at the point of the story I am) has appeared like three time and hasn’t had any important role yet, but still is up here cause I like his design/power (his hair.....spikey..)

7. How much has One Piece impact on your life?

I honestly don’t know? I mean, from a more “superficial” point of view, it had a lot of impact, it’s one of the media I’ve enjoyed the most in my life and right now it’s my main source of comfort. But I don’t know if it helped me grow as a person or something (I hope so!!), it’s difficul to tell since it’s something that I’ve known since I was a child. 

8. What is you favorite One Piece saying?

i don’t rememeber the quote, but that short speech that Doflamingo made in Marineford, about how justice isn’t set in stone and the winners are those who decide what justice is??chills

9. What One Piece laughed get you the most?

I’m very fond of Brook’s laugh (also is one of the few that I’ve actually heard, I haven’t watched much of the anime)

10. How will you feel when One Piece ends?

Hopefully, I’ll be satisfied. There are so many things that I can’t wait to see how they will turn out, I truly hope they will meet up my expectations! It’s gonna be a bit sad to think that it’ll be over, but it would be worse to keep the story going just for the sake of it.

I've never done such things but since this year I managed to be relatively consistent then why not? Granted, its not over yet, there will be more stuff coming before its over but I just felt like doing it. Unfortunately, in some months I haven't had the occasion to choose the best picture as I had only done one, this is especially true in the first months of the year, but I had a lot of problems with my new laptop, so yeah, couldn't be helped really. I see a lot more traditional stuff than digital, but then again I had troubles. More stuff with markers than pencils, I honestly don't use either enough. I honestly have no idea and it seriously kills me that I appear to be wandering around aimlessly not knowing what my dream job is!! :( I really just want a job where I go to work everyday and feel both happy (and incredibly lucky) that this is my job!! I’m still waiting for some ‘sign’ to tell me what my vocation in life is.....hahahaha!! Unfortunately, I must endure my current misery until that ‘eureka’ moment comes along. :P Maybe Gintoki will hire me to work as part of his Odd Jobs gang!! ;) :P

2. NicoRobin:What was the first book that you can remember reading?

I remember the first books that I ever borrowed from my local library were ‘The Famous Five’ series by Enid Blyton. I was just blown away by the adventures that they went on! I always craved adventure and I still do....I would love to (one day) go on some sort of epic adventure myself! :D

I also discovered ‘The Harry Potter’ series when I about seven years old. I remember going into town with my Mum and picking up ‘Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone’. I saved up my pocket money to buy it and when I got home I distinctly recall sitting on my bed to begin reading it. I couldn’t put it down, my Mum kept calling me to eat my dinner, but I kept refusing to go downstairs. I finished the book before I went to bed, I was such a weird child! XD

3. XDrake: Ifyour dad was a pirate, and you were captured by Marines would youserve for them?

No, I don’t think I would, as I really hate the Marines. I’m only on episode 27 of ‘One Piece’ so my knowledge of them is still a little bit hazy. However, in the earlier episodes I came across a Marine called Fullbody and he was such a despicable human being. He was both arrogant and nasty, if there are two traits that I absolutely cannot abide in a person....it’s definitely those two. Fullbody acted as if he was better than everybody else, which was ultimately his downfall, as Sanji’s reaction was AMAZING. Sanji certainly used some words of wisdom to bring Fullbody down a peg or two, which he most definitely deserved.

4. Jinbe:Would you take up Luffy’s offer to be in the crew or act as anally?

I would definitely love to be part of Luffy’s crew!! I already mentioned that I have a thirst for adventure, so what would be a better way to quench this thirst than to set sail with Luffy and his gang of pirates! It’s always said that sometimes the journey is more important than the destination. This would certainly be true if I could become a member of the straw hats. I mean, it would be great to find the elusive treasure that is named one piece, however, it would also be pretty great to be able to be friends with Luffy and the rest of the gang! Also, as we would be setting sail and having so many adventures along the way.....life would indeed be wonderful!!

5. GeckoMoria: Areyou fan of horror movies?  If not, what was your worstexperience.

I am most definitely not a fan of horror movies, I like psychological thrillers, but the horror genre is most definitely not my thing. Emmmmmmm.......my worst experience was probably more embarrassing than anything else!! I remember I went to see a horror movie with my friend, unlike me he’s obsessed with this film genre! I can’t recall the name of the film that we went to see, but it was terrible....and when I say terrible, I mean terribly bad! Anyway, this really ridiculous moment happened in the film.....and I screamed so loudly......and nobody else screamed at all........everybody started laughing!! I immediately went bright red, and in that moment, I just wanted to leave the cinema! XD

6. Buggy:Are you a leader or a follower?

I have my own beliefs, my own opinions and my own way of dressing! If anybody goes against what I believe in, then I will engage in a lively debate with them! I will never willingly accept what another person says to me to be the ‘Gospel truth’! I like to think of myself as being able to independently evaluate a situation for myself.....that doesn’t mean to say that my mind can’t be changed. However, you must present a good case for me to undergo this change of mind. I don’t know if that’s necessarily being a leader, I think it’s just more of a case of being true to yourself.

I used to always be a follower when I was younger, as my first friend was a bit of a bully towards me! I think that negatively impacted on my self-confidence, as we were friends from junior infants up until first class. When I finally stood up to her....it was one of the best things that I have ever done and from that point on I told myself that nobody would treat me like that again. 

7. Aokiji: Wouldyou throw away all position and power in your job because you don’tagree with the ethics of the organization?

Yes, I actually think I would!! I have certain core beliefs that are like my foundation stones which guide me through life....almost like a moral compass. I would like to think that no amount of power could corrupt me into accepting unacceptable ethical practices by any organisation. 

I was once involved in such a situation where I tackled one of my teachers over his absolutely appalling views on animal rights. From that moment on.....he HATED me with a passion.......he really turned on me! He actually told my Mum that I was too headstrong for my own good......!! 

8. Akainu:What kind of justice do you believe in?

I believe that if you commit a crime then you should be made pay for your actions! Of course in an ideal world there would be peace and everybody would be able to live in harmony with each other! Unfortunately, this type of world is non-existent, therefore, certain measures must be put in place in order to prevent things such as murder from occurring! If these measures didn't exist, then society as we know it would descend into a state of lawlessness. People themselves have different beliefs as to what is right and what is wrong. This is why we look to those in power to guide us in the right direction as to what is the proper conduct. We all know that government officials, the police force etc are corruptible! This means that often those who should pay for their evil deeds end up not paying for their crimes. Unfortunately, money seems to be the deciding factor in determining whether or not a person does indeed go to jail for their crime. I personally feel as if we should treat others as we wish to be treated ourselves. Our moral compass should guide us through life and we should have the presence of mind to know right from wrong. If somebody carries out a premeditated murder then they should pay for their actions by spending the rest of their life in jail! 

9. Tashigi:Do people ever tell you that you look like someone they know?

Emmmmmmmm....no......I don’t think that anyone has ever told that I look like somebody else!! :( I did once get mistaken for being a boy though, does that count??!! :P If you have any ideas about who I may look like.....please tell me!! :P

10. Marco:If you could have any devil fruit, what would it be?

I had to look up the different types of devil fruit that are available....and out of all of them....I would probably eat Ope Ope no Mi, as it definitely seems like the most useful fruit! 

11. Magellan:Are you allergic to anything?

Yes, I’m allergic to pollen, as I suffer with hay fever! :( I have a spray that I use whenever I get a headache or sore eyes! It also means that I normally don’t wear perfume, I especially try to avoid perfume whenever I have to study....as my brain wouldn’t be able to function at all!!

12. Shirahoshi:Do you hold grudges?

Emmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......yes.....I hold grudges....eeeekkkk! I once had an argument with my friend that lasted a couple of months!! I was just so angry with her that I didn’t want to see her at all!! XD 

I also used to hold a grudge against people who had hurt me in the past, however, I slowly realised that this type of grudge was hurting me more than them, so I gradually learned to overcome it! Sometimes you need to move on for your own sake!

13. Momonosuke: Whenwas the last time that you had a nightmare?

Thankfully, I haven’t had a nightmare in quite a long time! However, I do have a recurring one where I’m being chased by a witch! I spend that entire nightmare running and running away from her! I always wake up in a cold sweat from that dream! XD

14. Monet:Do you enjoy writing?  Share a snippet?

Yes, I love writing!! It’s one of my favourite hobbies! :D Emmmmmmm.......I would be too nervous to share a snippet......but I will tell you that I’m currently writing a novel based during the Second World War! I love German history and I’m especially interested in politics! Therefore, it’s a story about the struggle of a Jewish family, who are living in fascist Germany! It documents their desire to escape from this society, however, will they be able to escape in time to avoid being sentenced to death??!!

15. Bartolomeo:Are you massively obsessed with something?

Yes.....I’m obsessed with anime guys......I really wish I was joking when I say that! :P

I’m also currently obsessed with collecting anime figures!! I check the websites of both AmiAmi and Mandarake at least once a day! HELP ME!! 

Finally, I love anime so much! I tend to incorporate watching anime into my daily routine!! XD

Howdy :) questions, seeing as you can't sleep: have you had any experiences which majorly helped to shape who you are today? Dinner with anyone, living or dead, who would it be? Where do you feel most safe? How would you describe what love feels like for you? One fundamental element of who you are?

Hi there! Thank you for asking!

I believe all my experiences have shaped me into who I am today. All the characters I’ve played, the people I’ve met, the trauma I’ve survived, the deep connections I have formed. My psychic grandmother had a huge impact on who I grew up to be, as did my impetuous and fiery mother. My father also shaped me with his “rebel without a cause philosophy” and his independence. My significant relationships shaped me for sure. In both good and bad ways. Being forced to move out at 18 and support myself entirely with no financial support whatsoever was a big thing. Moving to Berkeley, and then to SF definitely shaped me.

I also think, that doing hospice care for a friend who was dying of cancer, and raising her two little boys really significantly shaped me. More than anything else I suppose. It was the most meaningful experience of my life.

Dinner with anyone… Living or dead… That is hard. There are so many. Nietzsche, Sylvia Plath, F. Love feels like… A drug to me. It feels like the entire world is suddenly made beautiful–even the ugly parts. I feel like my heart has wings, I feel more excitement and desperate passion than I have ever felt, I feel a warm glow, a blue lagoon reflecting the sky. It feels like suddenly everything in the world makes sense, and like I am a little girl again in awe of the world for the first time. When the initial honeymoon phase passes… It feels like… A heartbeat in my head. Like my right arm. Something that is always with me, and very deeply a part of me, everywhere I go. It feels like an omnipresent thing. Like the feeling of suddenly knowing you are alive, it feels like a warm blanket to cuddle up with. Like flowers blooming in the spring, or the sun shining through the clouds. Though in my sad and limited experience… It often ends up feeling sad. Like an echo, a stain on your consciousness. A shadow slinking along the walls… At least romantic love. Live for my friends and family, is something eternal. The power of miracles. That which shines, and it can never be diminished or destroyed. My love once given, is forever.
