ANUA Heart Leaf Pore Control Cleansing Oil

Okay, I’m sure most of us having probably heard of this product once or twice right? Upon my first time using it gunk, blackheads, and whiteheads that I didn’t even know I had came up due to this product. Overall it’s made my skin really smooth and clear so much so that it literally looks like i’m wearing a real life filter when I look into the mirror!

CERAVE Foaming Facial Cleanser

An amazing product through and through, you can never go wrong with this cleanser tbh. I was using the ANUA heart leaf foaming cleanser but it literally broke me out so bad, I think it’s because of the fragrance so I had to switch back to this one and it’s cleared up all of the breakouts.

ANUA Heart Leaf 77% Toner Pads

Hydrates my skin SOO well I always use just 2 pads and let them sit on my cheeks for a bit before applying it to my face entire face and neck but they’re so calming especially after i’ve had them in the fridge.

ANUA Heart Leaf 77% Soothing Toner

I may as well be using the whole line at this point.. but this toner has been blowing up for so long I just decided I had to buy it and give it a try, and oh my god how this product cleared my breakouts so so quickly. Such a good product to use when your breaking out it truly does a really good time soothing it.

COSRX Snail Mucin 96% Power Essence

Yes i’m highly influenced I know! I’m so glad that I got this product, it’s like a holy grail for acne. This paired with the two toners is such a blessing, no seriously. This product aids in getting rid of bumps I had on my face especially on my forehead.

ANUA Peach 70% Niacinamide serum

My faveee I can talk about this product for soo long. I’ve tried many serums but none come close to this one it’s such a good product even my mom started using it. The scent is amazing it smells exactly like peaches, after immediately applying this serum onto my face it gives such a nice dewy glow and helps brighten my face! Makes me feel like such a princess. Last Anua product I promise.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Moisturizer

They were not lying when they said glow.. Using this product gives you an INSTANT glow to your skin and the scent is so dreamy and perfect. I have not been using this product long and honestly besides the glowiness it gives and the yummy scent there’s not really anything special about it. And why is it so expensive..

LA ROCHE-POSAY Melt-In Milk Sunscreen 60

Such a nice sunscreen, leaves no white cast, is glowy but not to a point where it just looks greasy. Only problem I have with it is the packaging, it kinda like explodes or leaks? I don’t know if it’s the actual product itself or maybe just a error on my end but it gets really annoying sometimes but overall a really good choice of sunscreen!

LANEIGE Berry Lip Sleeping Mask

Yes as I said highly influenced… I always use this after finishing my skincare routine before i’m about to go to bed. It leaves my lips really moisturized and soft and smells amazing! At first I thought it would be the same as any other lip mask but it’s such a unique and nice consistency that I haven’t seen before in a lip mask.

SKINCARE REVIEW #002

Product Name: The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution

Price: ~700 PHP (~13 USD)

Review: I discovered this toner while I was idly scrolling through BeautyMNL, a local platform for beauty products (this isn't sponsored, but check it out here), right after I added the niacinamide serum from the same brand to my cart. This was during The Height™ of my skincare obsession—my teenage acne was all over my face, and I was desperate for a strong fix.

I became too desperate, I guess. I was blinded by the good reviews and didn't care to look at the bad ones until it was too late, when I was trying to find out if people were experiencing the same things I was. It stung in a way that wasn't completely unpleasant, but together with the slight stickiness, it got annoying fast.

Maybe my personal mistake was applying it to areas where my skin was particularly thin, such as the outer corners of my nose and the space just right below my lips. Unlike those Korean toners, this isn't the type you spread on your hands and pat on your face. This seemed like a medical-grade, dermatologist-prescribed type of toner. Actually, one of the other reasons why I gravitated towards this is because my dermatologist had given me a glycolic acid toner before, but maybe that had less of a concentration.

Glycolic acid is used, most often in low concentrations, for chemical exfoliation. Products with high concentrations often cause evident peeling on your skin. Basically, it gets rid of dead skin cells and speeds up the process of your skin cells' renewal. I might have to write about chemical vs. physical exfoliation one of these days and link it here, with references from experts.

Objectively, this toner is alright, but I guess it was too strong of a formulation for my sensitive skin, and I was new to all this skincare stuff. After a week of trying it out, I resorted to watering it down before applying it to my face, which kind of helped, because some of my angry acne dried out. But unlike the niacinamide serum, I discarded this (more like gave it to my younger sister who had a normal skin type) and never wanted to see it again.

I could have been a misguided teenager, so I really want others to take my opinion on this toner with a grain of salt. Let me know about your experience with this toner through the DMs or notes!

I just did my skincare routine, as one does, and I had an idea: spa night with Wriothesley! He’s reluctant to try it out at first, but now it’s his favorite way to relax and spend time with his beloved :,))

This !! Is !! So !! Cute !!

It wasn't a regular thing— not at first.

Wriothesley wasn't the type of person to put too much care into their skin before. You still remember the horror you felt when you learned he did little more than washing his face with tap water in the morning or evening. He'd been blessed by whichever archon was in charge of clear skin, you swore up and down for the longest time.

But all it took was him coming back early one evening, just in time to catch you in the middle of your skincare routine and a hesitantly asked, "...What's this?" as he held one of the many, many bottles in your stash aloft in his palm, and the rest is history.

Now, you've got him on his back, head rested in your lap and his eyes shut in relaxation. One of your cotton headbands keeps his spiky hair from brushing his forehead— the pastel colors are an adorable contrast to the dark strands.

"So then when I got to the store, there was this bitch who tried to fight me for the last box of pancake mix, even though I got my hands on it first. That motherfucker told me to go get my own pancake mix, and i told her, 'I just fucking did'," you say to him, recounting the harrows and drama of your day. Your hands are on Wriothesley's cheeks, gently massaging a moisturizing toner into his skin while he lays there and listens to you.

"Uh-huh, you go, sweetheart." There's the slightest of proud smirks growing on his lips, even as he keeps his eyes closed.

You nod vigorously, appreciating his support. As you turn back to the basket of goodies beside you, you debate on what to put on his face next.

"Hey love," you call him, and one of Wriothesley's icy blue eyes opens. You raise two bottles where he can see them, shaking each. "What are you feeling tonight? The squalane or the niacinamide?"

He hums in the back of his throat, thinking. Then shuts his eyes. "The niacinamide."

You have to fight back a grin, gently tucking the glass bottle for your squalane serum back into your basket. Before you can drop some of Wriothesley's chosen serum on your palms though, he quickly takes hold of one of your hands, pressing a kiss to the back of it.

"Thanks, sweetheart," he mumbles, voice little more than a content rumble, lips ticklish against the back of your hand.

Before you can respond, he gives your hand back to you, and the quirk of his lips is back in place.

"Well?" He asks, leaning his weight even more into your lap. Not unlike a puppy, luxuriating in your hold. Hazily, his eyes meet yours even as he blinks drowsily. Soft and fond as they train on you. "I don't believe you were done telling me about that box of pancake mix."

JJ watches you intensely from his seat on your marbled countertop. You can feel the saddened energy radiating from the permanent pout plastered on his lips.

“Baby.”

“I don’t wanna hear it, J. Let me get ready for bed and then we’ll do whatever you want, I promise.”

“But I want a kiss,” he says in protest. “Please?”

You squint your eyes at him in disbelief. “It’s never just one with you, J.”

“You’ve never complained before,” he mutters, rolling his eyes. “What’s next? You gonna tell me you don’t love me?”

Ah, yes. In a world of boys being sucked into the sassy man apocalypse, you remember that JJ is practically the one who invented it in the first place.

“Shh.”

You continue with your nightly routine, moving on to your skincare products. You douse your cotton pad in toner and carefully swipe it across your face. From the corner of your eye, you notice JJ pick up one of the many bottles lined up before you. His eyes squint as he tries to read the small font printed on the white label. One word catches his eye, and his brows shoot up in panic.

“Acid?! Your face’ll melt off!”

You laughed loudly, snatching the bottle out of his grasp. “It’s not that kind of acid, my love. Calm down.” You press a kiss to his cheek, hoping it’ll quiet his worries. He sighs in relief, accompanied by a phew, and he’s so sweet that you burn to kiss him again. But there’s plenty of time to do that and more after you’re finished, so you get back on track.

You unscrew the bottle of hyaluronic acid in your grasp and squeeze a few drops onto your palm. You pat it onto your skin, watching as it makes your skin all dewy and glowy. Meanwhile, JJ plucks another bottle from your stash.

“Nee-uh-sin—” He cuts himself off with a sigh, “I can’t even pronounce this. You sure you should be putting it on your face?”

You close the bottle you’re holding, placing it back onto the counter and taking JJ’s from him. “Niacinamide, babe. And yes, I’m good. I use it every day. It’s a big part of how I stay so pretty.”

He frowns at that. It doesn’t matter what you look like to him. No matter if you’re wearing one of his shirts and a pair of his boxers, or one of those pretty sundresses you love. Sneakers or high heels or flip-flops. Makeup, no makeup. Hair done, hair very much undone. You look like a vision twenty-four-seven. Even when you’re passed out beside him with drool escaping your lips.

Especially then.

“You know you don’t need to do all this. You’re perfect. You don’t need any help,” he tells you. He jumps off the counter and makes his way behind you. His eyes lock with yours in the reflection of your bathroom mirror, and his hands rest on your hipbones. You feel the surge of warmth from him, and you lean against his front as you melt into him. “In fact, if you get any prettier, I think it’ll kill me.”

Your heart clenches, and you feel the heat rise to your cheeks in a flash. He’s too sweet for his own good, and the worst (and best) part about it is that he says it so casually as if it’s not a big deal.

But it is.

You discard the glass bottle for a moment, turning around in JJ’s hold. Your hands cradle his face, thumbs swiping over the harsh line of his jaw. “Okay. You’ve earned your kiss.”

He cracks a smile. “Only one?”

“Two, max. You’ll get the rest when I’m finished.”

“Deal.”

Joel’s mixture of curiosity and boredom struck around eight o’clock at night.

The two of you had finished dinner, chicken pot pie with a golden crust and warm gravy to celebrate the start of fall and to fill your bellies with a distinct coziness. To Joel, fall was nearly all year round, the way he wore his flannels like an autumn badge of honor.

After offering to do the dishes, he settled on the couch with a beer and kicked up his feet to watch the Cowboys game.

Sundays were the perfect reset day. Clean house, freshly made bed, and food prepped to have his lunches set up for the rest of the week.

It was also nice to unwind and do your personal routine. You did your everything shower (and by everything, you meant everything). After feeling the fresh steam cleanse your pores, you start on your skincare regimen. This was when Joel’s mixture of curiosity and boredom struck.

“Whatcha doin’?” Joel’s tall figure loomed in the doorway to the bathroom as you finished running a brush through your damp hair.

You couldn’t help but smile. He never did like to stay away from you for long. “Just doing my skincare.” Joel was already invading his way into the small bathroom, picking up random bottles and rolling them around in his palm to read the label.

You watch as he squints and cranes his neck to read the minuscule writing.

“Th’hell is this?”

You roll your eyes with a sweet smile and take it out of his hand, settling it back on the counter. “You’re just askin’ to ask. To bug me.”

Joel lets out a playful scoff as he crosses his arm and leans his bicep against the frame once more. “Now that hurts my feelings, darlin’. I like to know what you do in here that takes you upwards of an hour.”

You sneer a face at him, and he meets yours with a kiss. You affectionately cup his chin between your fingers and gently swipe your thumb across his stubble.

“It’s just skincare, baby. Some people have really long routines, but everyone has different skin needs. I’m just trying to minimize my pores and keep my skin barrier hydrated.”

Joel lets a hum of interest roll off his tongue. He’s sort of become engrossed the more he looks across the counter. It probably looked like the side tray a surgeon uses with all the different tools they might need during an operation.

You had out your cotton swabs and small cotton rounds, a BHA liquid exfoliant, a niacinamide booster, a toner, and some moisturizer to seal it all in for the night. Joel looked somewhat intimidated, and this man didn’t fear much of anything.

You’ve tried before; you can’t say you’ve never asked, but Joel has yet to agree to a simple skincare night. But tonight was different, he looked a little fascinated as he squinted between the products and the smile on your face. It would make you happy, he knows that.

He takes a contemplative deep breath, hands on his hips before he decides with a slow nod. Fine, woman.

“Oh, Joel,” you coo excitedly as you grab his hand and forcibly yank him into the bathroom with you. “Wait-” you pause and put up your hands, observing his outfit.

Buttoned-up flannel, casual blue jeans with wear showing at the kneecaps, and his watch Sarah gave him a few years back. “No, this won’t do.”

He grumbles as you tug him into the bedroom, looking at you like you were out of your mind. “We’re doin’ skincare in the bedroom?”

You’re shuffling through his closet, having to pass by a large chunk of hangers that were just hanging flannels until you find him a comfy cotton shirt to wear. You moved to his dresser and rifled through the drawers, clutching a pair of dark grey sweatpants with a small Texas logo on the pocket. “You can’t just wear anything for skincare, you need to relax.”

He sighs loudly in a way of disobedience. He was never really one for relaxation. But he also wasn’t one to fuss with the lady of the house. He switched out of his stiff clothes and melted into his comfy sweats.

“Hate to admit it, feels good to get out of my jeans.” Joel’s approval is shown in the way his hands glide down the front of his chest to his abdomen, admiring the comfy tee.

“You know Joel, some people take off their day clothes as soon as they come home.”

He tuts at your teasing tone, closing the distance between you two as he plants a quick kiss on your lips.

“Now, back to the bathroom?”

“That’s right, cowboy. Skincare in the bathroom, we need to wash your face.”

He takes in a deep breath through his nostrils before doing what he’s told, and you praise him with a few heavy pats on his back.

You sit him on the closed toilet seat and wet a washcloth. You gently soak his face and begin to work a cleanser in with your fingers. Joel parts his legs and insists you stand in the open space he’s carved for you. His warm palms rest on the back of your upper thighs.

You blink slowly in contentment as he gently coasts his hands up and down your skin, from your hips to the ticklish backside of your knee.

“I love you.” You whisper, watching his face become one with the white foamy cleanser.

“I love you too, sweetie pie.”

You try to bite down on your smile and ignore the butterflies that spread through your stomach. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been together, Joel knows how to make you feel like a teenager again, in love for the first time. All those stupid country songs he sang in the truck felt true with Joel. Though you’d never tell him that.

All that love stopped when you saw his pores. “Jesus, Joel,” you go to pick at a few blackheads, but he swats your hands away.

“I agreed to the relaxing thing, not the pimple-popping thing.” His southern twang pings off the walls.

You roll your eyes, but he’s right, and you retreat to letting him enjoy his skincare. You gently wipe away the suds with the soaked washcloth and start his different serums. Joel even lets you put on the fluffy headband to keep his wild, silver-black locks out of his eyes.

“You look so cute.”

“Mhm, I know that’s right.” His voice is low and saturated in bliss.

He dips his eyes closed in relaxation. You take pleasure in helping him release a fraction of the tension he carries. Slowly he melts as your fingertips massage up his jawline and add gentle pressure as you circle his jawbone. His jaw goes slack at the sensation, admiring the way you work your fingers into the aching muscle.

“Gotta stop clenching your teeth, baby.” He doesn’t say anything, he knows it's a bad habit of his.

You let the serum sit, and you gently take his hands, add a glob of lotion, and give him a hand massage. He peeks his curious eyes open at the feeling, working up his fingers and over his knuckles, then his wrist.

“Fuck,” he finally mutters, eyelashes fluttering before his eyes give in and close again. He’s so sweet like this, uncaring of how he looked to others because it was just you. He could be himself with just you. He could breathe with just you.

You pump a little bit of facial moisturizer onto your fingertips and focus on his forehead, nose, and under his eyes. You take a little extra lotion and massage the skin on his neck. He hasn’t said a word in five minutes. He’ll be damned if he makes fun of how long you take to do your skincare ever again.

After tapping in the moisturizer, he looked like a whole new man.

“All,” you pause to press a gentle kiss on his lips before you stand up straight, “done.”

There’s a noticeable frown on his face when he realizes his time is up. “That’s it?”

You stifle a laugh and nod your head to the side, signaling for him to look in the mirror.

He groans lowly as he plants his hands on his knees and pushes himself up, straightening out with a few pops to his back, and looking at himself in the mirror. He looks from side to side, admiring the way his skin glows and glistens.

“Wow, it feels so,” He reaches his hands up to his face, and you quickly swat them away.

“Hey- no! No touching your face after skincare, not with your dirty hands.”

“Oh,” he mutters and nods quickly in slight understanding.

It was sweet to see Joel taken care of, and, more importantly, that you were the one aiding him.

“Thirty years younger already?” He asks to make you laugh, a large smile on his lips as he watches you throw your head back and giggle.

“I like the way you are now. Just a little maintenance is all.”

He likes the way he looks and feels. “What now?”

You purse your lips and wiggle your eyebrows. “We could read our books before bed or finish the Cowboys game… or we could do other things.”

His eyebrow cocks, and the left side of his mouth twitches in a cocky little smirk. “I like other things.”

You two race off to the bedroom, and enjoy the last few hours of your Sunday reset.

Shampoo your skull, condition the rest: Focus shampoo on your roots and work it through your scalp; concentrate conditioner on the ends and work your way up until you reach the base of your skull - around your upper ear lobe.

Always comb, never brush, your hair when wet: Gently use a wide-tooth comb, from root to tip, on wet hair to prevent breakage.

Use a special towel to dry your hair: My favorite is from Crown Affair (pricey for what it is but worthwhile in the long-term), but a Turbie Twist from the drugstore works infinitely better than a regular towel that weighs down and causes frizzy, damaged hair

Always use a heat protection spray before blow drying or straightening/curling your hair: (Briogeo and Oribe products are my love for all haircare products, including their blowdry creams – also love R +Co. for a heat protection styling mist).

Choose your hair ties wisely: Use seamless or silk hair ties exclusively to prevent breakage or awkward creases on your hair. Wear a silk scrunchie if you prefer. These hair ties from Amazon are my holy grail (only $7 for 100 hair ties!), and they come in a portable ziplock bag.

Skin:

Always use a disposable cloth when washing your face: Regular towels store bacteria and can cause breakouts too easily. These facial wipes from Amazon are my holy grail.

Wear sunscreen daily: Yes, even when you spend all day indoors. UV rays can interact with your skin through windows, too.

Niacinamide, Vitamin C Hyaluronic Acid, & Tea Tree Oil are among the few skincare ingredients almost everyone should consider incorporating into their skincare routine.

Learn the correct order to apply the products in your skincare routine: Cleanser, Toner, Serum, Eye Cream, Spot Treatment, Moisturizer, Sunscreen (or Retinol/Skin Oil at night).

Remember: From a dermatologist's perspective, your face starts (or ends) at your nipples. So, ensure you're cleansing, exfoliating, and applying sunscreen daily to your neck, chest, and décolletage to keep your skin smooth, youthful, and well-hydrated.

Vaseline is a great (affordable) alternative to traditional eye creams.

Sugar scrub your facial hair for a more gentle alternative to waxing (Combine sugar, lemon, and water). Laser hair removal, especially under your arms and your arms/legs is life-changing.

Follow up a warm shower with a dry brush and coconut oil for smoother, firmer skin.

Always apply a hydrating lip balm, mask, or Vaseline, hand cream, and moisturizer to your feet before going to sleep.

Layer complementary scents. Ensure the scents of body wash, lotion, and perfume work well together and don't clash.

Makeup:

Learn your skin undertones and educate yourself on color theory (I can share a post on this on the Post+ feed if you want some more educational content on these types of topics – I write about them for a living!).

Test any foundation, concealer, or face powder on your wrists, too.

Don't forget to color-match your bronze and blush: They can appear orange or muddy if you don't find a product with the correct shade or undertones for your skin type.

Invest in products that go on your face, brow products, and eyeliners. Great mascaras and lip products are easy to find at a drugstore or relatively cheap (I suggest Covergirl and d NYX, respectively).

Apply concealer in a triangle; don't dot it around your eyes for better coverage.

If you have oily skin (or it's humid outside), apply powder before your liquid/cream products. Set them again with a light powder to lock the color in.

Apply mascara from tip to base for the best lashes of your life: One coat on the tip, another from middle to tip, and the last coat from base to tip.

In a pinch, use a fragrance-free moisturizer and a q-tip to remove excess makeup (no more raccoon eyes).

Use a light nude or white eyeshadow underneath your brow to make them appear more defined.

Apply face powder under your eyes to help the eyeliner on your waterline last longer.

Create a simple daily makeup routine formula: 1 skin coverage (foundation/concealer), 1 skin color (a favorite blush or bronzer), brows, mascara, an eye-definer (eyeliner or shadow), and a signature "your lips but better" lip shade (1-2 shades deeper or lighter than your natural lip color): This formula provides you the basics, so you never have an excuse not to put yourself together for the day (5-10 minute routine here).

Discover your day-to-night hero product: Always keep a slightly deeper lipstick, a smoky eyeshadow, or liquid liner in your bag to transition your day look into the evening with one portable product.
