Back to the 90s! At least for my drawings anyways XD today I drew Serra from Tellos. I love Mike Wieringo’s artwork. I did buy a new inking pen. A rOtring Isograph Technical Drawing Pen. Got some new brush pens and a liner a while ago, so i decided to test them with Orien :3

Theyre pretty good (minus a leaky fucker. Didn't use the leaky fucker, its unusable). But i probably wont use them that much. Its still good to have them on, though

New pens! I'm gunna gab about new pens! I've been using faber-castell pens for a while, specifically the brush ones. They get worn down really quick and lose the fine point. I started finally using a dip pen a while back so I havn't needed the brush pens since, but I was kinda missing the simplicity of having a nice pen to play around with mess free. So I caved and got some micron pens for once. I see people use them all the time and swear by them, but I had only used some really tiny ones before that didn't fit anything I was doing. Had no idea they had brush ones too but this Graphic 1 pen has been a lot of fun especially. I also picked up some turquoise lead. I have some 'copy-not' non-photo blue pencils but they're pretty worn out and I feel like I have to press down a little too hard to get the definition I want. Either way this new leads been nice and smooth, but a lot harder to erase. Guess it doesn't matter too much for scanning. Also an Ames Lettering Guide. Only thing that fits the holes is some tiny lead from a mechanical pencil, which snaps off pretty quickly, but it is pretty handy.

New Pens Hurray!

So i went to Kinokuniya today and see if they have any uniball jetstream but unfortunately, they don’t have the 0.5 one :( decided to try another uniball pen and it’s pretty good!

I also went to Daiso as well and bought these Mildliner dupe highlighter, I mean 5 highlighters for $2.80 is a good deal!

Hey! I love your art + style a lot! Especially your coloring in traditional art! I was wondering what you used to do those semi-colored pen drawings? Is it like a highlighter or a marker or...?

I use both highlighters and brush pens. Theres some other random brands in the middle but i mostly use Faber Castell and stabilo highlighters, and koi brush pens from Sakura (and Newpen sometimes). Might do a haul thing one day maybe

I have to admit, they can be kinda expensive but the trick is to slowly build up them. But also dont get a lot of highlighters you won't like or if you end up not even liking the medium, so start small. I reccomend beggining with greys so you see if that's for you and its also a good reliable way to color your stuff without having to think much, and then you can slowly build up with colors you want to test (or test on the store if you can and they let you)

I use the light grey stabilo highlighter (number 194. Stabilos have numbers for each of their colors, fun fact) and the koi brushpens in cool gray and dark warm gray. I think theyre a good three set of stuff to begin grey scale, since theres a light, a medium and a dark gray to work with (images for example)
