Mesosex
Tumblr media
EDIT 2023-11-23: the term has been revised to:
Mesosex: a person who has an intersex variation, but one which does not conform to perisex (non-intersex) ideas of what intersex is. For example, people who have intersex traits that are considered "mild", or who have variations such as PCOS Hyperandrogenism and Poland Syndrome.
Meso- for middle/in between, to refer to the state of being in between what the intersex community accepts as intersex and what the broader public (mistakenly) thinks intersex is.
More info on why the revision has happened: https://www.tumblr.com/ipso-faculty/734822362966540288?source=share
For archival purposes, this was the original post:
Mesosex: somebody who identifies with intersex people but not as intersex, and also feels perisex does not quite apply to them either. Meso- from Greek mesos (middle), to indicate that one feels in between having the intersex experience and the perisex experience. For example, people with reproductive disorders who feel they have common ground with intersex people but not so much common ground as to feel they are intersex.
There are conditions like PCOS and Poland Syndrome that exist on a spectrum from definitely intersex to perisex-ish, and I hope this term gives people on the perisex-ish side of the spectrum more useful word for themselves than the current language of "intersex-adjacent".
I want to be clear that people with conditions like PCOS and Poland Syndrome are completely entitled to call themselves intersex and that there is broad agreement within the intersex community that anybody with these conditions who feels they are intersex is intersex.
In coining this term I am hoping to validate and connect people who would otherwise call themselves perisex yet not feel it is quite accurate for them.
Mesosex people can have any gender, similar to how intersex people can have any gender.
In designing the flag our goal was to give an impression of something in between the intersex flag and cisperinormative gender colours whilst also including nonbinary people. The salmon background is chosen as a colour that is not quite pink, and the periwinkle ring is chosen for being not quite blue, but still reminiscent of the purple ring of the intersex flag. The white centre, put inside the purple-ish ring, is chosen to reflect how the nonbinary flag has white and purple in its middle.
The term and flag were workshopped with @scifimagpie. I had been thinking for a while that it would be useful to have a term for people who feel in between intersex and perisex, and these recent posts by @queercripintersex on identifying with rather than as not only convinced me there is actually an audience for such a term but also inspired me to get this done! PS. If you are questioning if you are intersex, check out this post by @intersex-support with a big list of intersex media, which you can use to get a sense on whether you resonate with intersex experiences. (Also check out their FAQ! And their past posts! They're really great!)

Neopronouns Flag Re-Desing
Tumblr media Tumblr media
by: Ethan (i4eth)
I made this new flag design because the flag representing the most popular neopronouns wasn't very pleasing to my eyes and I found the meanings a bit vague and not very related to the neopronouns themselves. Not that there is a problem with that, just create an alternative to deal with these "problems".
Color Meanings
Green: Represents Diversity, and I think it's important as there are different types of neopronouns, and different types of ways in which you use pronouns for comfort, so it's important that you know that there is diversity between pronouns
Light Green: Represents Freedom, its about you can use whatever you feel comfortable with as a pronoun, it's almost freedom, it's as if you weren't obligated to use popular pronouns to refer to yourself.
White: Represents Recognition, because neopronouns are generally viewed very negatively by people who only use pronouns recognized by the language, and the idea would be for people to see that neopronouns don't hurt anyone and that they need to be taken seriously along with the people who use them.
Yellow: Represents Harmony, everything that a person who uses neopronouns deserves, everyone deserves to live in peace and harmony, but for this to happen people have to stop having an opinion on how people live and how they decide to be, being themselves, and Learning to respect them, well, it's not that difficult.
Orange: Represents Community, we are a group of people who are attacked for not only using the pronouns recognized by the languages, we need to be united so that anything that tries to stop us, we overcome, community is one of the very important aspects, but not just queers, but as in society itself, we walk together because we are better together
Symbol meanings
I was researching a little about pronouns, and I discovered that there is a symbol that represents pronouns, and also neopronouns, but I found this symbol a bit strange, such as the fact that it only works in the English language, and I, as a person who speaks Brazilian Portuguese, I felt a little left out, but I know that the person who made the symbol didn't do it with bad intentions.
So I decided to reuse the symbol in my own way, I realized that the part that represented the neorponomes looked like a flower, with just a few petals, so I used that to make a metaphor. Neopronouns are diverse and colorful like flower petals, so I placed a flower in the center of the flag with the neopronou symbols around it, using an old symbol, along with a possible symbol/metaphor for people who use neopronouns.

(Separate symbols, if you want to use them, and a photo by me with the meanings of the flag)
I couldn't think of any possible name for the flag, if you want to give your suggestions, you are free!
Any questions suggestions just call ⭐

Black Femme Flag and Femme Symbol by thegenderthieves
Continuing to repost some of my friends' stuff from their terminated accounts so that it's more easily findable (with their permission ofc) All text is pasted straight from the original coining!
Tumblr media
The femme version of the black butch flag is out! It’s inclusive of all black femmes
The colours are inspired by the femme flag and the dyke flag (you don’t need to have reclaimed dyke to use this flag ofc!)
Meaning:
Black - black history and black sapphic history
Purple - lesbian and sapphic history, love of women and non-men, sapphic power
Lavender - femininity
Light pink - femmeness, gender expression and/or gender non-conformity, unity
Pink - inclusivity of all sapphics, including trans, non-binary, mspec, aroacespec, and other sapphics
Magenta - breaking sapphic stereotpes
Lotus and labrys axe - femininity, strength, rebellion, and liberation
My Femme Symbol (not black-exclusive):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My femme symbol is free to use on other flags (with credit). Both the symbol and flag can be made into emojis and used elsewhere without credit as long as you’re not claiming them as your own!
Version with no symbol:

Intersex Drag (Queen/King) Flag!
I recently found out there's a drag flag and was inspired to make a little edit for intersex people.
As an intersex drag queen, I often feel a bit like an outsider looking at the drag community. I made this for anyone else who feels the same way. 💕
(Before anyone asks, yes you can make a vector version of this/edit it/redesign it. Please tag me if you do, as I'd love to see it!!)
Check out @interarchive for more intersex identities.

Proposition for a new pride flag?
I have no grounds for this, I am well aware. But it always bothered be that the first iteration of the pride flag was changed because the lack of availability to get pink fabrics. The meaning behind every stripe was so beautiful and I want to see it back again.
Name tbd but I was thinking something with progress and tribute in it
Picture 1 is a flag that features the original flag and progress flag combined. Picture 2 has the addition of a blue stripe for ALL indigenous genders and sexualities around the world and purple for persons of all disabilities. I want to clarify that I am nether visibly disabled or an indigenous person but I realized some things. There was no flag for indigenous peoples internationally, none that encompassed those from all cultures who have 3 or more genders, 3 set sexualities, 4 genders etc etc. I chose the blue to symbolize the water that connects us all.
The purple stripe for people of all disabilities, as it is seen as the international colour of disability

Hii!! I made a pride flag! I wanted one that represents a femme attracted lesbian and I really don't wanna use lipstick because of the awful stuff around it now, so I tried combining lesbian with finsexual since that makes sense for the sexuality, I think!! I hope others find this and find it to be useful for their identity.

Hey! Can you give my post a signal boost? I just made a new flag.
Sure!
The flag is posted here, along with a description of the meanings.
Speaking from the experience of my first attempt at the Disability Pride Flag (which actually triggered seizures when people were scrolling online), you may want to desaturate the colors, some -- especially the black circle in the middle.
