I think it wouldve been kind of funny if in the 1v1 battle between scar and pearl.. pearl won... and it's just, awkward cause she... didn't want that. at all.

She wanted scar to win after bdubs and joel died, she wanted to sacrifice her life to scar in the end because she wanted her allies to win.

Her feet planted on the grass as she read the sign ‘Mad World’ that was plastered largely over the entrance arch. With one last deep breath she made her way through the entrance, approaching the gleaming set up.

Many tents set up along with multiple vendors scattered about, stands with fresh food and deserts along with childish games such as ring toss lined the walkway as she went past. Each vendor sent her a wide grin and a wave, each of their eyes turning darker behind her back.

She approached the main tent apprehensively, her hands wringing together nervously, before walking in with a bated breath before she could turn around and flee once again. 

Everyone is seen to be practicing around the tent under Gaon’s watchful eye. That is until he spins to face her with a wide grin, dark shadows casting under his eyes almost making him appear sinister. But, it’s quickly shifted as the light switches to face her momentarily blinding her. When her eyes readjust Gaon is gone, appearing next to the reader with a wide grin, resembling the Cheshire cat.

He makes a grand gesture of bringing his arms above his head and twirling a booming laugh as he utters “Welcome to the mad, mad world, where we’re all a little mad.” 

Everything seemingly froze as he appeared next to her, eyes all around the tent landing on her with almost identical maniacal grins. But as the light shifts once more they are no longer looking at her, and continue practicing. 

Feeling a thrumming of fingers along her shoulder, her head snaps in the direction only to be met with two gleaming eyes. The owner seemingly upside down as she noted the blush pink hair and the fangs peeking from his bright grin.

She just blinked at him as he tilted his head, “Wanna see something?” the smile turned into a smirk as he let go of the silks and stood on his two feet.

“Who are you?” He asked, yelping when she disappeared, and the room changed, it was now a sleek black themed room, and the demon that was once clad in some casual clothes was now dressed in black slacks and a black blazer left mostly unbuttoned revealing the pale skin below littered with scars. Her black hair that was once in an  unruly bun was now slicked back into a sleek ponytail that cascaded down to her lower back.

She was now seated in an office chair with her heeled feet propped up on the desk as she continued reading the story of his life that was told throughout the book. “Welcome to hell Yunho, as I’m sure you’ve been told, hell isn’t what it used to be,” She began, getting straight into business

People fell into a panic after a malfunction in one of the world's largest radiation devices, it was catastrophic people all over the world were experiencing symptoms sending others into a panic, people resorted to looting and even killing. Nothing was normal anymore, super powered humans began to emerge from the depths, some to create even further despair and many to try and save the day. 

Even from ashes people will rise, and burn the brightest flame. Some made to burn the world and some made to shed some light in the darkness.

I am indecisive and cannot choose, so I figured I'd turn to y'all.

I'm fanta-ing Seire soon and I want to save a look for easy grab-n-go when I do. Thing is, I know I want him to be another tall race, but not sure if Au ra or Viera. I have lore bits either way, though each of them will lean more heavily towards one of his highest level classes (WAR & DRG)

I'll probably save the other for a rainy day, but this one I would actually end up doing New Game+ with since Seire was at EW. So whomever it is would end up being developed and added to the co-WoL pile.

3. What’s something you read recently and wanted to argue with (either with the book or the author or the fans)?

buckle up for a good ol' book rant!

so the dreamhealers series - a cozy slice of life scifantasy story about two neurodivergent individuals forming a queerplatonic partnership - is, it turns out, the origin story of the characters which the author mca hogarth has conceived a long time before as side characters in a completely different arc in her peltedverse. i assume she started developing said arc when she was a teen and wrote the dreamhealers when she was already an adult. the result is two stories that tonally and structurally couldn't be more different but that both feature these two characters which naturally resulted in characterization consistency problems. you can't take a weird lil guy from a pastoral novel where everyone just vibes and put him into a high stakes high fantasy plot without it taking a toll on their personality. now, this is not a problem if you finish the dreamhealers and just stop after book 4, however comma goodreads shows that there's this novella following the last book and you assume it's gonna be some sort of cute epilogue and you pick it up and it turns out it's not that but rather a short backstory of the characters mca hogarth wrote for her high stakes arc BEFORE she wrote the full version of their backstory aka the dreamhealers. are you still following? anyways i read the novella and was appalled at how jarring the difference is between jahir and vasiht'h in the series and this novella which, if you read in the order i'm reading in, basically serves as a link between the dreamhealers and prince's game. on the one hand, it's cool to see how much mca hogarth grew as a writer and how much more nuanced and relatable she made her characters in the course of their development. but on the other, it made me have unpleasant ruminations about what is canon and what isn't. this novella feels like a retcon designed to make jahir and vasiht'h fit a new narrative. however, it was written before the dreamhealers - does that then make dreamhealers a retcon and not as canon? both things can't be canon bc jahir and vasiht'h in the series would never do things they do in the novella. which makes it feel like a fanfic written by someone who doesn't understand the source material.

phew did it feel good to get all of this off my chest! tl dr please read the dreamhealers but under no circumstances read "family"

4. What are your top 3 comfort reads?

to be completely honest i don't typically re-read books for comfort purposes. that's what fanfics are for!✨ the top 3 i used to re-read the most (but not in quite a while tho) are lessons (aftg), astray (captive prince) and this unfinished theseus/the minotaur fic which i believe was called asterius und which, as i was distraught to discover, had been privated by the author😭 such tasteful monsterfucking literature i have never known before or since

7. What book do you love but usually not recommend because it’s weird or intense, etc?

i love aftg but i will rather bleach my soul by reading that fandom's discourse again than recommend it to anyone. and to be clear, it's not bc i think the seires is weird or poorly written or not good enough for general audiences - it's bc no one is worthy of studying the sacred texts except for me and a couple other initiated intellectuals

Suara yang timbul akibat pintu yang terbuka membuat sosok wanita yang terbaring di atas ranjang itupun menoleh.

Damian menghabiskan waktu hampir satu jam lamanya hanya untuk berdiri di luar, menatap sosok wanita yang merupakan ibunya itu. Dadanya terasa begitu sesak ketika melihat bagaimana seseorang yang dulunya terlihat berisi dan juga cantik kini menjadi kurus kering dan tidak terawat.

Damian salah. Ia benar-benar salah ketika berpikir bahwa wanita yang sudah tega meninggalkannya itu hidup bahagia tanpa dirinya. Ia benar-benar salah, karena harusnya ialah yang jauh menderita daripada Ibunya.

Tatapannya yang terlihat kosong itupun semakin membuat Damian yakin jika Ibunya sudah tidak mengenal sosoknya lagi

Sekar Banowari. Lahir di Ubud, Bali, tanggal 11 Desember tahun 1969. Anak tunggal dari pasangan Yohanes Banowari dan Ayu Azhari. Ia menghabiskan masa mudanya sebagai seorang pramusaji di sebuah restoran sederhana milik keluarganya.

Wanita berparas cantik dan juga tinggi semampai itu mempunyai cita-cita yang sederhana suatu saat nanti, yaitu ingin menjadi seorang Ibu yang baik untuk anaknya.

Keluarga mereka bahagia selama beberapa tahun sebelum akhirnya Regis mengaku jika Sekar merupakan istri keduanya. Sekar mengalami trauma hebat akibat hal tersebut. Wanita itu pun kemudian menggugat cerai Regis tanpa tahu ia sedang mengandung anaknya.

Setelah perceraian mereka dan Sekar tahu bahwa ia hamil, ia memilih untuk tidak membuka mulutnya mengenai kehamilannya kepada Regis. Bertahun-tahun kemudian berlalu tepat ketika Damian menginjak umur delapan tahun, dimana ia dipertemukan kembali dengan sosok mantan suaminya. Wanita itu memilih mengatakan semuanya kepada Regis mengenai Damian yang merupakan anaknya. Regis percaya mengenai hal itu karena ia tahu Sekar bukanlah seorang wanita pembohong. Tepat ketika Damian umur dua belas tahun, Sekar meminta mantan suaminya itu untuk mengambil tanggung jawab Damian dengan merawat anak mereka karena ia tahu kehidupan Damian akan terjamin nantinya.

"Isn't It ironic?" Anggap saja ia sudah gila karena masih sempat tertawa kecil ketika mengingat betapa Tuhan tidak adil dengan hidupnya.

"I was thinking you're happy after that day. I was thinking you had a new family and living your life with your husband and your kids. I was thinking I'm the only one who's getting hurt and abandoned like piece of shit."

Sekar menggelengkan tangannya tidak percaya kita wanita itu sadar siapa orang yang berdiri dihadapannya sekarang ini. Bibir dan juga tangannya bergetar seiring ia kembali diingatkan dengan memori paling menyakitkan yang pernah terjadi pada hidupnya. Tidak, ia pasti sedang bermimpi saat ini. "Damian..."

"Stop calling me like that." ujar Damian yang membuat air mata Sekar berjatuhan. Wanita itu mulai terisak ketika ia menyadari bahwa Damian sudah tumbuh menjadi orang dewasa tanpa dirinya. Anaknya itu kini tumbuh menjadi sosok yang begitu tampan.

Damian kembali terkikik ketika panggilan itu kini terdengar begitu menyakitkan di telinganya.

"Mama minta maaf, Damian..." Damian memilih menjauh dari ranjang tempat Sekar berbaring ketika wanita itu hendak menarik tangannya untuk digenggam.

Rasa kecewa yang tertanam begitu subur didalam hatinya Itu tidaklah dapat dibendung lagi. Damian kecewa, amat sangat kecewa dengan perbuatan Ibunya.

"Why? Why you did this to me?"

Sosok lain yang sedang berdiri diluar kamar pun hanya mampu terdiam ketika Damian akhirnya mampu menanyakan hal yang menjadi alasan laki-laki itu mau untuk datang.

"Did I bother you? Does my existence make you unhappy? Did I do something you can't forgive?"

Alex menyandarkan punggungnya pada tembok tanpa ingin ikut campur dalam urusan ini. Ia percaya dengan Damian. Ia percaya dengan laki-laki itu melebihi hidupnya sendiri. Ia tahu Damian bukanlah anak kecil lagi. Ia tahu apapun yang menjadi alasan Ibunya Damian selama ini, Damian akan mengerti meskipun hal itu akan kembali melukainya.

Sekar menggeleng kuat, menepis setiap perkataan Damian yang tidak benar itu, "No, you're love of my life. You're my happiness."

"Then why..." ujar Damian dengan perasaan marahnya yang mulai memuncak. Laki-laki itu berusaha tidak berteriak dan tidak meledak ketika ia sadar sedang berada di rumah sakit. "Why you did this to me?"

Sekar benci. Ia benci ketika kembali diingatkan dengan hari dimana ia berada pada titik paling tidak mampu dalam hidupnya. Situasi dimana segala keputusan terasa begitu salah di matanya, tetapi tidak ada pilihan lain karena semua ini demi orang paling berharga dalam hidupnya.

"I can't take care of you because I know your future will be ruined." Sekelebat bayangan sosok Damian kecil yang tersenyum begitu lebar setelah memenangkan kompetisi itu membuat hatinya benar-benar menghangat.

"Balapan itu hidup kamu, Damian. Mama tahu kamu tidak akan bisa hidup tanpa balapan karena hal itu yang membuat kamu selalu tersenyum," Damian mengalihkan pandangannya dengan tangan mengepal kuat kita ia sekarang akhirnya mengerti.

"And I can't see you giving up on your dreams all this time just because I don't have money. I want you to be someone, someone I can be proud of in the future."

He's the reason.

Semua alasan kepergian Sekar adalah karena dirinya. Ia adalah alasan kenapa Sekar menjadi seperti ini. Mengorbankan segala kebahagiannya demi dirinya yang selama bertahun-tahun hidup dalam belenggu ketidak tahuan.

Damian begitu naif ketika segalanya tidak pernah terlintas dalam kepalanya. Yang ia tahu adalah Ibunya pergi meninggalkannya tanpa alasan yang jelas. Seolah ia dibiarkan terlihat seperti orang bodoh yang tidak pernah tahu alasan apa yang mendasari perbuatan menyakitkan itu.

"Mama mau terus lihat senyum lebar kamu waktu menang pertandingan. Dan kalaupun Mama harus jadi orang paling jahat agar senyum kamu tidak pernah hilang, Mama akan lakukan itu."

Damian kembali tertawa ketika ia ditampar oleh fakta bahwa Ayahnya tidak benar-benar memperlakukan ia dengan baik.

Alex yang mendengar hal itu hanya mampu memejamkan matanya. Ia benar-benar tidak tahan lagi dengan semua ini. Rasanya ia ingin masuk ke dalam dan meluapkan segala hal dalam otaknya.

Ironis rasanya ketika orang yang Damian harap akan selamanya ada disampingnya kini benar-benar menjadi orang jahat hanya untuk melihatnya terus tersenyum. Padahal senyumnya itu hilang dan tidak lagi pernah terlihat bersama sosoknya yang juga pergi meninggalkannya.

"It would be better if I lost everything than seeing you like this."

Damian berjalan keluar, membiarkan Sekar kembali menangis ketika mendengarkan kata-kata menyakitkan itu.

"He cares about you." Alex berjalan mengiringi langkah Damian ketika laki-laki itu keluar dari kamar Ibunya. "Don't talk to me." jawab Damian tanpa mempedulikan Alex.

Alex dengan cepat menarik kerah Damian lalu mendorong tubuh laki-laki itu kearah tembok cukup keras hingga menimbulkan suara yang cukup nyaring. Beberapa orang yang berlalu lalang di koridor rumah sakit pun mengalihkan perhatian mereka kearah dua orang insan yang sedang dibalut oleh amarah.

"Papa peduli sama lo dan lo harus tahu itu!"

Seruan Alex tidak mampu mengalahkan tatapan datar yang diberikan Damian. Laki-laki itu kembali mencengkram tangan Alex lalu menepisnya dengan kasar.

"I wish it was true." jawab Damian lalu kemudian pergi.

Namun langkah laki-laki itu kembali terhenti ketika mendengar Alex yang kembali bersuara,

"Lo pikir yang bawa Mas Dani buat ketemu lo siapa kalau bukan Bokap?!"

"Papa sayang sama lo, Yan. Dia cuma nggak tahu gimana cara nunjukinnya, karena dia pikir lo selalu terganggu sama kehadiran dia selama ini setelah Nyokap lo pergi." lanjut Alex sambil menatap lurus kearah punggung kokoh milik Damian yang kini terlihat sangat rapuh di matanya.

Nafas Alex tersenggal ketika kata-kata itu berhasil terucap dari bibirnya. Tidak ada tanggapan yang diberikan Damian karena laki-laki itu sibuk mengepalkan kedua tangannya.

"Get out of my face, now."
