I’ve been thinking a lot of Stardew Valley in a post apocalyptic setting lately… it’s one of my favorite genre and I’ve been watching the walking dead again (and the last of us but I’m not up to date with the episodes).

But the idea of Pelican Town surviving all together ?? Barricading the town to keep monsters out ?? Everyone learning their new roles in the ends of time ?? And the whole thing with Shane still being suicidal but having to stay alive because people depend on him ?? The duality of wanting to die but not in the easy way by getting killed ?? I have FEELINGS

Also in this AU farmer Fen hasn’t join Pelican Town yet and they’re still in Zuzu city trying to survive and they will meet the town’s people later. Having to fit in the town during such an hard time ?? People not trusting them but them also being very traumatized by what happened in the city ?? It’s so interesting I can’t djjfjf

For now I’m mainly drawing everyone in a more dirty setting and finding weapons for everyone or just what role they would take on for the community. I hope I’ll post them regularly ? But please don’t forget I’m a disabled artist I sadly can’t draw as much as I want to :’)

🦋The Butterfly Effect🦋

WOAH it's been almost a full year since my last Luna post, I didn't forget about her I swear-

Here is a (Almost completely) refreshed version of my SDV OC! I'm probably going to make a whole explanation for her timelines and universe in a separate post.

⚠ Do not repost my art or I will come after your kneecaps ⚠

(Details about each lil segment of the wings under the cut!)

*it is VERY long because I go into detail about each bachelor/ette and how the moment I drew is important to their story with Luna

I made it so each moment with the bachelor/ette in the butterfly wing is when they either realize they're catching feelings or it's a moment during their confessions, I will say I haven't completely finished all 12 rewrites for how the confessions/realizations happens, so some might seem unpolished or unfinished. (Primarily the bachelorettes, since I focused on the bachelors first.)

*Note that this isn't all happening in one universe! I have alternate timelines with different outcomes for Luna, hence me taking inspiration from the butterfly effect, no cheating is going on here-

People who I drew with the idea that there's an active confession happening:

Elliott

This moment is technically the start of his confession, they've been friends for a while by that point and they've been writing each other letters and Luna's helped him grow some plants in her spare time since he expressed interest in learning how to grow things. So when he decided to confess to her he sent her a letter inviting her to dinner with one of the roses he grew attached. (*I'm realizing it might be kinda hard to see the rose in the picture, I'm sorry-)

Sam

With Sam, instead of him confessing, it's actually how Luna confessed. Luna knew he has bad allergies, and she didn't want to risk her bouquet for him triggering them so instead she made a bouquet of origami flowers, which he definitely gushed about to anyone who would listen (Sebastian) And he keeps them in a lil vase on his desk.

Shane

Like Elliott, his is also technically the start of the confession. I haven't really worked on his timeline with luna much yet but I'm pretty sure I'm going to keep his normal 10 heart event with him getting two tickets to watch the gridball match in Zuzu city with Luna.

Leah

Another one where Luna was the one to confess, they've been friends for a while by this point, so Luna invited Leah over for a walk around the farm and to just talk about everything going on (Since her farm was keeping her busy and Leah was busy with her art) Then near the end Luna confessed her feelings and gave her the bouquet. Later on when the flowers were no longer fresh Leah pressed them to keep them preserved.

Haley

I haven't really worked on her timeline with Luna that much, so what I went with for her was just the normal bouquet confession- Although, I will say- I like the idea of Luna actually making bouquets for her spouse to fit their interests rather than her buying a bouquet off of Pierre, so that's what she did for Haley with sunflowers.

(yes, this confession is the most likely to change out of them all when I work on her timeline more)

Emily

With Emily, I was trying to think of her craftier side, so I came up with the idea of her creating a bouquet of Luna's favorite flowers out of felt (or some fabric that holds its shape well) to use for her confession. This one is also kinda pre-confession, although she confesses pretty much as soon as the bouquet is ready.

People who I drew based on them realizing their feelings:

Harvey

With him, the two of them started to fall for each other fast. They'd frequently see each other as Harvey took his walks around town and Luna ran around doing all sorts of errands and deliveries. And when they had free time, they'd have a conversation every now and again. Slowly talking more and more about their personal lives and why they moved to pelican town. Harvey started to open up more to her and break out of his shell as they got closer, he'd find himself more lonely at times and, if there's no work, he'd jot down things that happened that day (even if it were mundane normal things like going to Pierre's) since he knew she'd love to hear about it and he'd just wait for her by the tree outside his clinic.

(I'm so sorry to the Harvey lovers but I had absolutely no idea what to draw for him- I guess it could be seen as him admiring Luna from afar while she runs around town doing deliveries? I'm genuinely not sure, but I'll work on his timeline more and just know this is most likely subject to change!)

Alex

I guess his realization kinda leads into his confession? But I like to think that shortly after his 8 heart event him and Luna went back to her farmhouse to have lunch and continue to talk. And when it was time to leave Luna and him took a small detour so she could show off her new flower patch, she then took a flower and put it in his hair with an added comment of "Hey, it suits you pretty well!" and then that's when the two parted ways since she had to continue her farmwork. All that to say that the drawing of Alex is his expression watching her leave since I love the trope of a character giving the most loving gaze while the other is unaware-

Sebastian

For Sebastian, I was thinking of when he usually stands by the lake at night. I like to think that's when he thinks about his plans for life since he's spent a lot of time before thinking about moving out of town and I doubt he'd think about that when cramped up in his room. And when he started thinking more and more about Luna and staying in the valley that's when he realized he had caught feelings for her.

Maru

Luna previously helped Maru with various tasks and projects, which just by that alone meant that they were going to spend a lot of time together. But when Maru and Luna would just hang out for the fun of it, Maru realized how much she loved spending time with her and how lonely it'd feel without Luna around. *It took a whole reality check from Penny for Maru to realize her feelings though since Maru was in denial

(Maru's drawing is just her admiring Luna while Luna's helping test a gadget since I also didn't know what to draw for Maru-)

Penny

Penny caught on to her feelings fast, she pretty much realized as soon as it happened. She already admired Luna when they met since Luna was so determined to fix up her grandparents' old farm, but when she saw how gentle and nice she was with the kids and how much she took an interest in Penny's interests those feelings came rushing in. The two have frequent meetups at the museum's library on the weekend where they just read together and chat about what's going on in life, which usually ends with Penny getting flustered at Luna's compliments as Luna admires Penny for taking on the task of tutoring the kids in town, which Penny ends up hiding her face with her book to at least cover some of her blush.

Abigail

With Abigail, she also caught feelings very fast. Luna's always been very supportive of Abigail's dreams of adventuring and would frequently offer to come with if she ever noticed Abigail going off to the mines so they could have each other's backs. Abigail also loved how the two of them could pretty much joke about anything, the two of them spent many nights just playing games and joking around and they wouldn't even notice how much time passed until they started feeling like they were gonna pass out right then and there.

Mods that I like on Stardew Valley

The first things I will list off are Expansions, stuff that adds a lot of new things and areas. Everything I list will have their respective link, I am pretty sure you need to be on a pc/laptop to click them but I could be wrong.

Make sure to visit this post every once in a while in case I update it. There will be a re-editted/update date below to say when was the last time I was on this post.

EXPANSION MODS - These mods adds new area's, NPC's, items, events, foods, fish and many more things!

( WARNING PLEASE READ!

I do want to make a fair warning to not have too many expansions at once. It can and will make your loading time last a long time, can make the game very laggy and hard to play. Adding NPC's can affect stuff greatly due to how much work it takes to make an NPC. I am not telling you how to play the game, if you feel like adding all of these at once into your game then go ahead, but I am warning you now just so that you know why your game is lagging so much.

The next warning is to make sure you install all of the things that a mod needs! It will be on the requirements on the mod page. I am not to blame if you download said mods and not look at the requirements.

Stardew Valley Expanded - It's an amazing mod that adds 27 new NPC's, 50 locations, 260 new character cutscene events, 27 new fish, reimagined vanilla areas, two farm maps, new music, questlines, objects, crops, festivals and a lot of other things! I usually pair this with Ridgeside.

Ridgeside Village - This is a really great mod to pair with Stardew Valley Expanded! It adds 50 new NPC's, a new location, new items, new shops, new festivals, new music, new quests and a lot more stuff! To get to the village, from your farm go to the bus stop and then go behind the bus, there should be a set of stairs! Go up them and go up the lift and there's the new area! Just follow the upper path for a shorter way to Ridgeside, or take the long way along the bottom path.

East Scarp - Another amazing mod that brings a whole new town! It adds new NPC's, a new farm, new locations, new fish, new shops, special orders and lots of secrets! To get to the town, go into Pelican town and go to the Blacksmith house. Above it is a path, take it to the bridge and go across it. Just keep heading that way and you will load into East Scarp!

Downtown ZuZu City - Now, this mod is pretty cool! This adds the imfamous ZuZu city to the game! You remember how a lot of NPC's talk about ZuZu City but you can never go? Well, here you go! This expansion adds new NPC's, 7 NPC's to befriend and marry, new foods, new items, new weapons, moving cars that can and will kill you if you stand in front of them, a ZuZu Obelisk, a secret puzzle hidden in the ZuZu Sewers and many more things!

Stardew Aquarium - This adds an aquarium to the Valley! To get to it, you need to have access to the train. Make sure you download all the prerequisites that the mod asks for, because it's very important so you can get to the Aquarium! You can donate fish to the Aquarium if you don't feel like selling them or eating them, and watch them swim around! There is also a beach outside of the Aquarium and new shops!

QUALITY OF LIFE MODS

( Here are mods that I absolutely love to play with my game or mods that I may not use but you might like to use! )

NPC Map Locations - It does exactly as the title says! It shows the location of NPC's on the map and the optional Minimap. This mod is really good at tracking down those pesky NPC's that you want to shove gifts at.

Look Up Anything - By pressing F1 while in game, you can look up anything! Like a villagers bio, when a crop will be ready to harvest, how long a fence will last, why your farm animals are sad, and a lot more! ( Yes, I know that's exactly what the actual description says, leave me alone! 😂 )

Generic Mod Config Menu - This mod is very important! I would highly suggest you download this one with any other mods you have because it lets you configure said mods in the starting menu rather then going through the game files for it. You can also prep this with a shortcut key to access it while in the actual game itself.

Tractor - This adds a tractor to the game that you can purchase from Robin! It takes a bit to get the money and items in default, but if you go into the config, you can lessen the items and money costed to make it. This mod helps you water plants, cut down trees, break rocks, dig up dirt and much more!

Automate - I love this mod a lot. You put a chest near a machine and it will automatically use the items in it to create the desired item you want. Like say you put it near a keg, if you have fruit in it like Strawberries, it will make Strawberry Wine! It will beat the pesky task of going to all of your kegs and putting berries in them or collecting them when they are done.

UI Info Suite - This mod provides a lot of information about what's going on. Here is a list of what it can do from the mod page itself:

Display an icon that represents the current days luck

Display experience point gains

Display a dynamic experience bar that changes based on your current tool or location

Display more accurate heart levels

Display more information on item mouse overs, including items that are still needed for bundles

View calendar and quest billboard anywhere

Display icons over animals that need petting

Display crop type and days until harvest on mouseover

Display icon when animal has item yield (milk, wool)

Sprinkler, scarecrow, beehive and junimo hut ranges

Display npc locations on map

Skip the intro by pressing the Escape key

Display an icon for Queen of Sauce when she is airing a recipe you don't already know

Display an icon when Clint is upgrading one of your tools. Icon will tell you how long until the tool is finished and shows you which tool you are upgrading.

7. Skull Cavern Elevator - The title says it all! An elevator to the floors you travel to in the Skull Cavern!

8. Kitty Channels - It's a pretty simplistic mod that changes the TV channel people into cute kitty cats. What's not to love?

9. Better Beach Forage - You ever get tired that there isn't enough Beach Forage? This helps that need. It improves the spawn rate of the beach forage and even adds crabs to the beach!

10. Yet Another Harvest with Scythe Mod - This mod lets you harvest stuff with your scythe! You can still pluck them but using the scythe ( in my opinion ) is much faster. There is a incompatibility with this mod and the Tractor mod. So don't have these two mods together.

11. Move it - This mod lets you move things everywhere. Well, almost everywhere. There are limits. But you ever have your new farm and there is a tree stump in the way that you really want to move? This mod lets you do that. But I will say this, read the description of the mod to know its capabilities and its warnings.

12. Gift Taste Helper - This displays helpful tips that shows an NPC's favorite gifts when you hover over their icon on the calendar or social tab in your menu.

13. To Dew - With a press of the key, you can set notes for yourself at the corner of the screen. When you complete it, just click it and it gets crossed out. You can even make the notes yearly, monthly or daily. Please look at the description for more information that I may have accidentally left out.

14. Turn To Your Enemies - Whenever you attack, if there is a monster close to you, you will immediately turn to them. It's quite helpful for those that are still new to battle.

15. Fashion Sense - This mod gives you a pocket mirror you can use to customize yourself. I would 100% suggest looking into the description for more information. This mod is definitely worth a look at, especially if you love changing clothes or your hair in game.

16. Deluxe Grabber Redux - This removes the ability of you having to harvest crop, foraging, digging up artifacts and harvesting animals. Go into the config menu either in the game files or Generic Mod Config mod then adjust this to however you see fit!

17. Kitty Themed Scarecrows - This mod is very simple, it replaces the looks of normal scarecrows to that of kitty cats! They look like they are standing on perches. It's a lot more humane looking then some images that look like the stick is up its butt.

18. Starry Night Interface - This changes color to a lot of things in game. From the in-game dialogue boxes to the in game menu! Give it a look at!

19. Wear More Rings - You can wear more rings then two in game! You have five fingers on each hand, so why can't you wear rings on them all? Go into the config in either the mod file in the folders or in Generic Mod Config.

20. Autofill Pet Bowl - I don't consider this cheating really. I absolutely love this mod because sometimes I can be extremely forgetful, and that means I either forget to feed my farm animals or water my cat/dog. This eliminates having to water your pet, so you don't have to worry at 1:50am that you didn't feed your pet.

21. Tidy Crafting Menu with Optional Balancing - This sorts out the crafting menu in your in game menu, it makes it a lot more cleaner and it just makes more sense.

22. Fishing Info Overlays - Gives you an overlay at the corner of your screen when you take out your fishing rod to show you what fish you can get in that area.

23. PFM Automate - This is a very good mod to pair with Automate. It lets you connect some modded machines to chests to get the job done! But this doesn't work on every modded machine, so be aware.

24. Convenient Chests - This allows you to auto stack item to chests with a press of a key, so you don't have to open the chest to throw stuff in!

25. ChestEx - This mod lets you change the colors of your chests and name the chests! Of course, you can change the color of chests in the normal unmodded game, but this lets you change more then just a few colors.

MODS THAT MIGHT BE A LITTLE CHEATY

Friends Forever - This mod removes friendship decay. Very handy for someone who doesn't really like paying close attention to other villagers while balancing out everything else in the game.

No Fence Decay - This mod removes the fence decay feature from the game. No more replacing the fences!

Better Farm Cave Forage - This mod is here because in my opinion, this can give you a lot of options early game. Along with donations to the community center early on.

Chests Anywhere - This lets you access your chests anywhere you are. No more throwing chests down at the entrance to the mines to dump stuff and go back into the mine!

Zuko Alone Re-Watch

This is one of my favorite episodes in the entire series & I DO have a lot of thoughts on it but I also feel like it is one of the most heavily discussed episodes in the series. So, I'm struggling with having anything NEW to say about it, ya know? Also, full disclosure, this is yet another re-watch post made after a few glasses of wine. I'm blaming Thanksgiving leftovers. (ETA: after typing most of this last night I’ve come back to finish the post now on my phone sober & bored at work)

Anyway, ZUZU IS ON HIS OWN! When 'Midnights' dropped I kept saying "You're on Your Own Kid" was a Zuko™ song but I somehow just now realized that he even has a whole episode about it. Agni, I can't believe Miss Swift is such an Avatar fan. She seriously has more songs about the characters by the day!

Zuko, hon, seeing flashbacks of your mom as you almost pass out from hunger & heat is sooo normal, baby boy you're doing *great* king. ♫ I know that you got mommy issuessss.🎶

Zuko dealing with those earth kingdom national guard jerks was a whole ass mood. Look, you've either worked with the public or you haven't. If you have, you understand why Zuko's repetitive, deadpan "no" responses to these jerks were so funny. Also deadpan humor Zuko you’re so special to me <3

FLASHBACK TIME!!! Azula threw rocks (or at the very least bread or something) at the turtle ducks & that's mean but not that surprising from a little kid in her environment. Azula & Ty Lee's prank on Mai & Zuko was pretty mean but also exactly what middle schoolers with fire powers would do. Azula, Ty Lee, Mai & Zuko were clearly childhood friends even if there was a lot of toxicity in the dynamic between the four of them. And honestly, I just can't get over how well-written this show is & how well it develops & explores both its protagonists AND its antagonists.

I think that this episode is really interesting in the way that it explores the imperialist culture within the Fire Family. Literally, this show is just SO fucking good, I'll start eating drywall if I get too excited or think too hard about it. Because it's spent so much time - & will spend so much more time - exploring the impact of the war & how horrific it is for all the nations being colonized & attacked. And it ALSO spends time exploring the royal family & the individuals involved & WHY they are the way they are. When Ursa, Zuko, & Azula get news from Iroh joking about "burning Ba Sing Se to the ground'" they LAUGH! This is the goal that is supported & made as propaganda for the Fire Nation, especially the royal family. It's fascinating & horrifying all at once.

The flashbacks are (in my opinion) where the real meat of the episode is, but the present day is interesting too. Zuko learns some important lessons from the family that takes him in & I think the most important takeaway is that the earth kingdom has some kind people who are being hurt by the war & the Fire Nation. It was important for him to feel that hate in the end when Lee wouldn’t even accept his gift of the knife.

I also think that this is (despite literally being an episode about Zuko I’m sorry guys I’ve never denied that I have an Azula centric view lmao) a really good Azula episode. We learn a lot about what Azula’s childhood was like & the dynamic where Ursa treats Azula with disdain & dislike giving Ozai the perfect opportunity to mold Azula into the perfect little weaponized prodigy he wants.

A dissertation could easily be written about this episode but it’s already been talked about SO much so I’ll cut this review mostly short & leave y’all with my biggest takeaway which is that Zuko & Azula actually showed signs of friendship & camaraderie (playing together & laughing right before learning Lu Ten had died, Azula taking Zuko’s hand & dragging him off to spy) even if they were also forced to see each other as rivals because of Ozai & Ursa’s favoritism. It’s so important to understand this to appreciate the show & the character dynamics at play, because Zuko & Azula are so much more than just rivals who hate each other, a hero & a villain. It’s much more complicated & interesting than that.

Also worth noting that the flashback with Zuko & Azula playing together & then learning Lu Ten has died comes right before Lee learns that his brother has died. That’s just good writing.

Iconic Behavior points: Zuko gets 100 for his actions in the present trying to protect Lee & his family. Ursa really should get some for killing Azulon but I’m still so fucking mad at her for how she acts toward Azula… ugh, fine I have to be fair, 10 points. Azula & Ty Lee each get 100 points for the prank on Mai & Zuko. Azula gets 500 points for saving Zuko’s life as a child & having her creepy villain kid sing song moment. I’m on my phone so I’m not adding up the points for the season so far .

Anyway that was an iconic episode & I could say more about it but pretty much every scene is worth it’s own essay (except the stupid doll burning scene, more than enough has been said on that lol) so that’s all I have for now!

So, about my Stardew Valley longfic, Choices....

(Kvetching about writing, trying to weave together Stardew Valley Expanded, Ridgeside Village, and East Scarp, and very mild spoilers for Choices under the read more.)

One of the things that happened as I was working on Choices was that I had too many characters/plot points; about halfway through I had to cut things out and rearrange things. I consoled myself with the promise that I would bring those characters and plots in when I did the sequel and then moved on with life.

I'm plotting out said sequel. I have some big overarching plots involving Gabriella and the war with the Gotoro Empire as well as some political stuff within the Ferngill Republic, and then there's all the character arcs/plot lines that fall underneath that umbrella. I came to the (un)fortunate realization that one of the things I'd cut from Choices and moved to Changes really, really needs to be in Choices. It supports the themes of Choices better, for one, and from a logical standpoint, the characters in question wouldn't move to Stardew Valley in Year 2 with the other plots going on.

So, on the one hand, yay! I get to explore the relationships between Jeric, Bryle, Josephine, Oliver, and the Gov sooner rather than later! That whole thing was one of the primary reasons I even wanted to try and interweave SVE, Ridgeside, and East Scarp. But dammit, I also want to be done with Choices so I can focus on Mateo, Tristan, and the Spirit Realm up in Ridgeside.

Still plan to start uploading Choices on New Year's Day as it'll be *checks her posting schedule* April before we reach even the first hints of the new plot line.

I swear by all that is good and holy in this universe that Choices will not end up 600k. New plot line will probably add in 20k-30k, based on what happened when I added in June at the last minute to Fall and Winter. (I needed someone who knew Sterling when he was fucked up all the time to come in and shake things up, and hey, Sterling tended bar in Zuzu City, and June played in jazz clubs there. *cue light bulb*)

I started a new sdv save

so of course, I have a new oc! His name is Rian (ree-anne), and I'm planning to romance Elliott, Alex, Sam, and my boy Seb. Also, I'll probably get Harvey and Shane just for shits and giggles, and because I wanna watch the "dating all the bachelors" cutscene, then break up with them cuz like i ain't marrying them, I just wanna see the cutscene. I'll have some art of him and Milo and Toby (my other OCs, their very own posts coming soon!). I also have a lesbian character named Lydia, who I haven't played much since i realized I was trans, but I'll probably resume playing with her soon.

Anyway!! Lore!

Rian spent his last 2 years before aduIthood in Stardew Valley with his grandparents. It wasn't that his parents WEREN'T alive. It was that they disowned him. He had come out as lesbian, put through conversion ccamp, and by the age of 16, had come as nonbinary (stepping stones). He knew he would face rejection and a lack of acceptance, but he wasnt expecting to be told he was meant to sleep outside. Now, in stardew valley, that might be safe, but in Zuzu? Absolutely not.

He left, took a Suber (in universe Uber name lmao) to Stardew Valley, somewhere he hadnt been in years. He met some friends his age, Sam and Alex, as well as had his first really intense crush---Harvey, the only doctor in town, who was about a decade older than him at the time. What could he say, the hot doctor energy was too strong.

When his grandmother passed, it shook his life. He had to undergo 2 years of therapy to cope with her loss, as well as all the trauma he'd undergone with his parents. By that time he was in college out of country, something he'd always dreamed of doing. He came out as trans to his friends, and began the long route to transition. He was lucky. He got his first T injection in under two years, at this time 22, a sophomore in college. His celebration was cut short when he was called in to his grandfathers hospital bedside, and eventually had to take care of him for all of winter break, as well as the first fewlectures to plan his funeral when he finally passed away.

Surpressisng all of his grief, he moved through college, pushing away his friends and boyfriend for his studies and finally, it all paid off when he got the position at Joja Co. That he had always dreamed of.

The joy wore off quick, and by 25, he was done. He was on the verge of just staying home until he lost his job and starved to death, when he remembered the old envelope his grandpa had given him on his death bed.

The old farm he loved so much as a teen... Was his?

This was great news! This was the spark he needed to keep living.

He quit his job and packed up quick, getting the soonest bus to Stardew Valley.

When he finally arrived, it seemed the town had lost its life. There was, however, a very attractive writer who had just moved in.

He walked up to Alex, about to say something he would've said back in the day, when he was hit with, "so you must be the new farmer guy."

No one recognised him.

And he didn't particularly wish to tell them.

This was his fresh start. He would make the most of this.

Zuko needs tomorrow to be perfect, but when one person is so many things to so many people--My Lord, Fire Lord, Nephew, Zuzu, Sifu Hotman--how is he going to find the time to make sure everything goes exactly right? Or,

Five titles Zuko has earned himself + One more to add to the list. If he can just get through this Very Important International Celebration first...

Better Dylan Info Post (aka Dylan Lore Dump 1)

because I realized in the light of day that my last post was not very well organized or worded (I was very tired)

First off have another picrew. Baydews' character creator is my favorite one out there. Djarn's comes in close second, but I haven't made Dylan there yet.

☆ Her full name is Dylan Strand. For etymology nerds like me, Dylan is from the Welsh prefix 'dy', meaning to/towards, and word 'llanw', meaning tide/flow. Strand is from the Old Norse word for beach. Assuming the site I used to get this information is accurate, anyway.

☆ On a slightly related note, apparently Dylan isn't really used for girls outside the US? I wasn't aware it was such a unique thing.

☆ Her birthday is Summer 21. I used a random date generator and converted it to Stardew time. I think I still have the calculations somewhere in my phone's notes.

☆ She's 5'10", which is a little on the tall side. She has her mom to thank for that.

☆ Blue Moon Farm is on the forest map, which is without a doubt my favorite farm map.

☆ Dylan's mom lives off the east coast of the Ferngill Republic. Dylan and her dad moved to Zuzu City when she was about 6 to be closer to her grandpa, but returned to visit every year for Dylan's birthday. Her grandpa loved to talk about Blue Moon Farm and show her pictures from its heyday. He passed the year she graduated high school.

☆ She loves to fish and can rival Willy in skill. Some might think it's magic, but she's actually just had a lot of practice.

☆ While she generally follows the universal gifts, she loves Golden Coconut, Dragon Tooth, and Seafoam Pudding. She likes all kinds of fish as well as Sea Urchins. She's neutral about all Tackle, Bait, and Monster Loot, as well as Fairy Dust and the Tea Set. She only dislikes Joja Cola, but she hates Qi Fruit.

☆ She likes bright colors. Her favorite is yellow.

☆ I mentioned before that Dylan has trouble localizing sounds. In humans, the shape of our outer ears plays a big part in localizing sound. Dylan has no real outer ears, and her inner ears are structured a little differently to help with hearing underwater. If she were to keep her fins out, they'd do a fairly decent job of helping to localize sounds. However, they're more effective for that purpose underwater than on land, and they're not much help at all held flat against her head and hidden by her hair.

☆ Her fins are pierced! She normally wears a pair of large gold hoops, but she owns a few different pairs of studs for times where there's a risk of the hoops getting yanked out. She also likes necklaces, but isn't a fan of bracelets or rings.

☆ The effect of the full moon isn't entirely because of her heritage. There's a psychological aspect to it as well. The spring tides from a full and new moon have equal pull on her, but because new moons lack the light of a full moon, she doesn't have that visual indicator. With a full moon, it becomes a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy. She's so worried about giving into the pull that it happens. Her umbrella is a visible barrier between herself and the moon to help put her mind at ease and keep from working herself up into an unplanned nighttime swim.

☆ I'm putting the Stardew lunar cycle at 20 days. It's a lot longer than a direct conversion would have it, but 9 days seemed a bit short for my liking. I'm also aware that spring tides are technically the high tides the night after a full or new moon, but I'm choosing to ignore that. My made-up lore, my rules.

☆ She has some small scales scattered around with her freckles. She also has gills hidden under her jaw. They seal themselves when she's above water, and open when she submerges.

☆ The forest magic the wizard gave her almost made her sick enough to go to the clinic. Fortunately, her body adjusted to it before it could get that bad. A full ocean spirit wouldn't have been so lucky.

Howdy!

After 8 million years (aka 10 months !!) I have finished writing my first (and likely last lol) ever fanfic - what started out as something initially just for quick practice turned into a 250k+ word novel (and distraction). Who’d have thunk.

Summary:

Years after inheriting his grandpa’s old farm in Stardew Valley, Achilles Oleander Robinson (pronounced “Ah-sheel” -- his mother is French. Supposedly.), has decided it’s finally time to ditch his six figure job in the city and pay the old backwater county of Zuzu a visit.

Whether the sudden visit to Strawberry Farms is motivated by an aching desperation to escape the corporate world or a determination to capture a life he’s long believed to be lost to him, however, remains to be seen. Not that it really matters, though. He’s not planning to stay long enough to figure it out. Clean up the old place, put it on the market, then get on out of there, badabing badaboom. As long as he doesn’t ask himself “What’s Next?” he’s golden.

But the community proves more alluring than he anticipated, the potential some of the members promise more persuasive, and Achilles can’t help but wonder what it is he truly ever wanted. And all the while forest spirits run amok and trouble brews deep within the mountains of Sunspray Peak, reawakening voices he had long learned to bury deep.

Presenting... Learning to Listen to a New Kind of Sound ! (a mouthful of a title, I know. We’ll call it LLNKS for short, I guess.)

There are, of course, some liberties taken with the characters and canon, but for the most part I’d like to hope that it remains loyal to the spirit of the great stuff ConcernedApe crafted! I hope fans of the game will take note of all the maybe less obvious easter eggs and references!! Updates: Updates will be posted per the below schedule on this tumblr and on Ao3. And since the entire work has already been finished, there shouldn’t ever be any delays. Woohoo!!!

Hello Hazel! Your last post broke my heart and I’ve been thinking about it and if it was ok for me to reply. I’ve been following you for a while and tho most of the time I’m very silent because I get anxious and feel annoying I appreciate the time you take to answer to people in here. I just wanted to say that it sucks that you feel like having to be positive about this situation, and I know saying that doesn’t help but it really makes me very sad to see the creators I like feel discouraged to keep writing because of the lack of engagement in replies and reblogs. I’m not a writer but I am an artist and I know how frustrating it can be to get little to practically no recognition in your work. I don’t think it is ungrateful wanting your work, especially if is something people have asked for, go unnoticed, and seeing how you still try to not let it affect you makes me want to cry. You and your blog feel like a safe space, and every time I see you in my dash I get very happy. I feel very comfortable when I read your works, and even tho we don’t know each other, your overall existence here feels like a hug from a really good friend.

I feel hopeless because saying all of this isn’t actually helping to the situation, but I really want you to know that you are very appreciated (I even made a side blog some months ago to rb all the works I like from the writers I like yours included, obviously).

I kept rambling and I’m not sure where I was going, but I hope you can have a more positive experience from now on. I really want to give you and all the other authors in the same situation some encouragement and I wish I could do something to help, but as a small blog I don’t get many interactions.

You were one of the first blogs I followed and kinda introduced me to this kind of works, and to be completely honest it helped me more than once to feel less alone (hope that doesn’t sound silly). I know I repeat myself a lot, I guess I’m not very good at expressing my thoughts, but it really feels cozy and comforting to read them.

hiiii -- I know you mentioned in here you weren’t sure if your message was clear but honestly this hit home so well. it’s hard to convey my real thoughts sometimes and I worry I’m being so rude when I share things like this, so to read your message and be able to soak in what I really want to say because you could see through my words and hit right to the point -- so even though you were uncertain, i saw you just as much as you saw me, so thank you.

I’m so excited to hear about your side blog to share and encourage writers and to keep a selection of works you really enjoy! even if you don’t have a lot of followers, it means so much and let me tell you, I remember the people who reblog my works often -- it’s like having someone walk by my shelve of stories and take a copy - it’s such a cool feeling!

thank you for this message, you didn’t have to take the time to send something in, but you really did make me smile (and cry a little) with your words -- and I hope you can start to feel the love with your artwork! I’d love to see it sometime :)
