Not sure if anyone is gonna care about this as much as I do, but I’m throwing it out into the MMFD Fandom ether here on Tumblr just in case.

So…Let’s discuss: My Mad Fat Diary character Zodiac Signs✨

I’ve done a bit of research (aka rewatching certain episodes lol) and some of their signs are confirmed:

Izzy is a Cancer (her birthday is near/on July 10th according to S1E1 when Rae meets the gang for the first time and Izzy is celebrating her 16th birthday at the pub)

Rae is a Sagittarius (she says this in S1E2)

Archie is an Aries (Rae says this in S1E2)

Chloe is a Scorpio/Sagittarius Cusp (her 17th birthday party in S2E5)

And I have a theories about what Finn and Chop might be but I can't recall if there’s ever been anything confirmed or any proof in the show...does anyone else have thoughts/theories or am I the only one that thinks about these types of things when I'm rewatching the show for the Nth time/reading or writing fanfic lol 🤪

I got such a wave of nostalgia just from seeing these screen names come across my dash!

I was late to start MMFD. I came in sometime after *that* gif of Rae and Finn talking in her bed after her party started popping up everywhere in my casual scrolling 🥰

Little did I know that gif would lead me to one of my all-time favorite shows and a little community of like-minded watchers that would immediately feel like home!

I was never writing more than when I was watching MMFD. I felt so inspired by the show itself and by all of the other incredible authors whose work I was reading ferociously. There’s still a folder on my computer bursting with unfinished ideas that I go back to once in a while just to feel a little of the magic I felt in those days.

Truly cannot believe it’s been 10 years when it all feels like yesterday?? Bonkers.

It was such a fun, friendly community, and there were a huge number of mega-talented writers and artists. It was a fandom punching well above its weight!

oh no... i just watched my mad fat diary one more time and now i’m wondering if i’m fat or not and in knew all along it was wrong to watch that series becasue my bmi is 14 but i didn´t listen to my right mind and i decided to watch it despite knowing that i could have a relapse...

My Mad Fat Diary (2013 - 2015)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

TW: This series includes self esteem issues, depression, self-harm, and suicide. Please be aware of triggers prior to starting this show.

It’s hard to review things I already appreciated in my adolescence and remain unbiased, but this series holds a soft spot in my heart. There are only a few series that left me craving more episodes after their intended series that actually landed. I love this cast and every vital part they play.

The acting is tremendous, and left me in tears on many occasions. At it’s core, it is a young woman navigating the new world beyond her mental illness; but it is so much more than that. Friendship, family, renewal, alcohol, school, parties, illness, breakdowns, breakups, and breakthroughs.

I have even used the advice of the snarky psychiatrist Kester to advise myself through hard patches. There is so many things of value in this series, and I am forever appreciative of that.

This is worth a watch, but only if you:

Can tolerate heavy storylines around mental health

Appreciate the Cool Britannia aesthetic and it’s many playlists

Titles similar to this:

Skins (2007-2013) (You knew this was coming! Similar themes throughout, but a more dramatic, darker tone)

Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012) (similar aesthetic, heavy themes of abuse and depression, drama)

watched the first season of my mad fat diary and I really love rae and everything to do with her and I just found it crazy to see that the fandom for it here is literally just about jodie comer (chloe) and barely even talks about Sharon Rooney(rae's actor)? Or its abt that one good scene where finn basically says I can like who I want to rae but it's never rae-centered. As usual, people start giving love to the skinny, conventionally attractive white people despite what the show is abt... especially chloe who was literally shown to rae's somewhat opposite and rival. the lengths you all take to not see the bigger picture or just appreciate a fat woman's acting omd
